Hey Winston Smith, no one here has to talk about their personal life, I pretty rarely did over the years, but some of you chose to, and is it wrong that I remember some of it?
In your case, aren’t you a transplant recipient who used to work in the medical field (like, outback nurse or something?) If I am right (and it is possible I am wrong), wouldn’t you be strongly recommended to be vaxxed too? Maybe you have been, maybe you’ve said so before, I dunno.
My interest in asking this is that I’m pretty keen on seeing vaccine numbers increase to see restrictions ease. Hence I am keen to see any Catallaxy person who is willing to disclose vaccination to disclose it – because, obviously, this is a place where vaccination rumour and conspiracy is allowed to dwell. The counter example of Catallaxy people who have decided to get the vax might influence some of the others to get it.
I therefore see it as a genuinely good thing when people like Lizzie and now Cassie confirm they have had it. (I have had my first dose too – I gave up on waiting for Pfizer.)
So, you can tell me to get stuffed – or I have got the wrong person in mind – whatever. Just curious and asking for the reason outlined.

Morrison and Gladys could spell the death of the Liberal Party, something similar happened in Canada in early 90s. The governing Conservative Party were so on the nose that they only retained 15 seats at the next election. It took Harper over a decade to build it up again.

I am hopeful that better vaccines will eventuate, more traditional in their mode, and that many more people who are now vaccine hesitant will accept some form of vaxx.

I’ll state again here, as elsewhere, that I am totally opposed to the idea of ‘vaccine passports’ for normal activities in any society. I accept that ordinary international travel may require, as it often does, a Covid vaccination before setting out, in order to comply with the regulations of countries to be visited. Just as airlines won’t take you without a valid passport for six months, I can imagine that they may not wish to board people who will be turned around at their desired port of entry. Still the case with Yellow Fever, and Covid will probably be added to that list. If you can gain entry to a desired location with only a Covid rapid test, then airlines should allow that too, and still take you.
But at home here in Australia? Travel everywhere and entry anywhere should be facilitated in spite of Covid and without the vaxx. Some places may require special testing, especially hospitals and aged-care facilities. That’s OK in my book.

Even if the damage is higher, the damage from Covid was always going to be worse. A rock and a hard place might sum it up. AZ vector RNA to mRNA is my choice. Yes, Big Pharma have made a killing as usual, but so be it, plus ca change. I wouldn’t trust the government on the pharma development job either. I am grateful for Big Pharma whenever I have an anaesthetic. The improvements there have been astounding, and good for people like me – my Nana died from an allergic reaction to old-style anaesthesia. I had a similar reaction to old-fashioned Thiopentone, but good on Big Pharma for developing more tailored versions of complex stuff. I’m no longer scared of ‘going under’. Well, not too much, anyway. 🙂
