What is the correct response by good men to tyranny?

Is it the example of Christ?

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

Matthew 5

Gandhi?

Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always.

Gandhi

Solzhenitsyn?

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

Solzhenitsyn.

Or is the correct response to turn upon each other, bickering over who holds the moral high ground, who has done or said this or that, and the ideological purity of some proposed action?

History is watching.

It’s not about the moral high ground.
    It’s about surrendering or fighting.
    Very big difference.
Although surrendering isn’t very moral when there is your fellow countrymen’s welfare and freedom to consider before you do it.
When you know that surrender means you destroy others.

  2. Dan better beware, since what Jesus was saying is that praying for ones’ enemies is a witness against them. Hell sucks. It really sucks. Be warned Dan.

    “If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

    Romans 12:20

  3. All three responses are correct.

They can all be deployed simultaneously, provided you wield Solzhenitsyn’s axe in a loving manner.

    “Bless you my son.” Whack!

I think I shall call my new tribe “Solzhenitsyn’s Axe”.

  4. Whilst trading scriptural quotes is all the rage, try this one:

    Luke 22:36

King James version of Jesus words to the disciples at the Last Supper::

“Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

This is not “living by the sword”. This is all about being properly equipped for life’s little travails. If that means, in the paraphrased words of George Patton, “Not dying for your country but making the other poor dumb bastard die for his”, so be it.

The LSM, Wankerdemia and the general body politic have been herding REAL PEOPLE towards the shower-blocks for decades.

  5. It’s always the vaxxies and their buyers remorse that start and carry on and nag like they Australian Olympic Naggers.
    I pity the fools.
Norms are better looking with much better personal hygiene.
And norms don’t take the knee to tyrants.
I understand vaxxies can get AIDS. Without the alleged pleasure of buggery
Still, hate the sin, not the sinner.

It could have been mutual feelings with the publicans – they probably found out about the water-wine thingy…….professional jealousy.

  7. When you quote Christ, remember that this was the same Christ who walked into the Temple with a whip, and flogged the corrupt out of there.

If you interpret scripture in a way that contradicts other scripture, then you are doing it wrong.

  8. “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation…

Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.”

(From Matthew 23 and Luke 11)

God mega-double-plus hates injustice. Ditto for lying and deceiving. Pray for God’s justice to be done in the land. Pray that He will have mercy on us and pity His people.

“For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge His people.” It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. ”

    (Hebrew 10:31&32)

  9. To serve, to strive, and not to yield. Ulysses, remember just that and they will never beat you, not ever.

  10. Arks – you’ve nailed it – our three most worthy recipients of HOP Time™.

They shall burn for all eternity in the deepest darkest and most infernal circle of hell.

Hopefully after they’ve experienced similar “pleasures” here on earth.

    He was Christ.
    You’re not.

Be careful…. You are starting to look like one of the things that Christ most criticised.

“Hypocrites” were Greek stage-actors. Actors who wore masks according to the character they were playing. Actors who did not let the audience see their true face. Christ is the first known person to use the word in the “modern” sense.

  12. Incidentally, Arky….

None of us are Christ. None of us are Ghandi. None of us are Solzhenitsyn…… so if not being them disqualifies us from following their example, then this post is just so much hot air.

I did not attack you. Merely added some technical information regarding the example that you cited. A little self-awareness appears to be required.

    History is watching.

There is a book that details how to respond to tyranny.

It is called “Alinski’s Rules for Radicals“.

The left now needs this done to them, good and hard.
