Albeit helped by the fact that Kevni was rapidly seen by the public more as Great White Elephant rather than Great White Hope. Despite all his appearances of Rove Live and so forth.

In retrospect tying himself to Rove wasn’t a great career move. For either of them.

Would it be churlish to wonder at the absence of massive UN crisis resolution resources being applied to defend the independant nation of Ukraine from external aggression. (That’s mentioned somewhere in the UN Charter, isn’t it)?
I guess they are all occupied lolling around on boats with pretty JCU undergrads up on the Barrier Reef spending Slomo’s criminal second pay off to the World Heritage extortion racket.
Abbott’s failures were legion, but his determination to flick off the UN from Australian internal affairs was enough to make him PM in perpetuity.

Roger;

It’s just an opinion but I’m a tad more pessimistic as I think the Putmeister is planning to open the front gate and make himself comfortable in the Ukraine. Europe and the US are pretty much at his mercy because Russia supposedly supplies around 30% of Europe’s gas needs. The US can’t move because Europe would be fucked.

I recently read something more ominous that I wasn’t aware of and that’s Russia and China are closer than we thought, both outlook wise and financially. I heard a podcast the other day that China maybe behind this whole thing by egging on Putin as they want to test Western resolve with a view to the impact it has regarding Taiwan.

This isn’t good.

How did that work out for him?

There’s a documentary on his trial and execution that may still be on Youtube.

One of the guards who was present explained how things went.

At least they did give him a trial, although as I recall they were prepared to shoot him immediately if any Communists attempted to rescue him. None did.

When the execution was criticised, the leader of the provisional government said it was preferable to seeing them lynched by the mob.

The truth is, they didn’t think they were fronting demonstrators.
They thought it was to be a Communist Party set piece with them speaking to the adoring crowds from the balcony.
Grainy as it is, the video Roger refers to is gold. They can hear the noises coming out of the crowd and it is not universal adoration. Their heads swivel back on forth trying to comprehend it. I think Mrs C tries to give the crowd some curry (ooooh, don’t poke that bear) and they beat a hasty retreat and escape by helicopter from the roof.
Until the helo pilot puts it down and claims he can’t get it started again.

I recently read something more ominous that I wasn’t aware of and that’s Russia and China are closer than we thought, both outlook wise and financially.

He also has to be wary of China, JC, because it’s a competitor in Russia’s historic sphere of interest in both the ‘Stans, where Belt and Road is being pushed, and Siberia, whe the Russian population is declining.

Getting back to Ukraine, Putin’s KGB personality assessment said that his chief weakness was that he was a risk taker. So far, though, that’s worked out pretty well for him, especially taking the Crimea. And there are high stakes here, as Putin will not tolerate NATO warheads located in the Ukraine. At the very least, he’d like the western Ukraine, which is already heavily Russified, as a buffer between Moscow and NATO. I think Biden’s “minor incursion” gaffe was a reference to that. The US & NATO would not retaliate militarily if Putin annexed those regions, not least because they don’t want to be fighting the Russian army on those plains in their own front yard, so to speak.

And I remind you, that is defamatory and by dropping such names you jeopardise this blog.

I have my own theory on rings of pedos being picked up.

It’s class.
The lower class/ ethic version was Rotherham.
Middle class/ professional is more the scouts and infiltrated respectable professions.
Finally there is the wealthy and well connected.

I’d seriously doubt there is any overlap between the 3 main groups.
Each would be on the lookout for others like themselves in their own peer group.
If a group goes on for long enough it should cause a cascade of arrests when they do finally get pinged.

And to people looking at it from the outside it looks like a conspiracy. In reality it has been more like a bunch of turds grabbing opportunities.

Then there is the honeytrap/organised ones for blackmail.

‘Last month, President Putin told journalists that he believes progressive Western ideas are infiltrating Russia, particularly in the area of LGBT rights. “I believe that the traditional approach is correct,” he commented. “Male is male, female is female, mother is mother, and father is father. I sincerely hope that our society has the moral armor to protect us against this.”

In 2013, Putin signed Russia’s so-called “gay propaganda law,” which prohibits the distribution of material deemed to promote “non-traditional sexual relationships” among minors. The legislation, which was passed with the stated goal of protecting children from being exposed to homosexuality, has been criticized domestically and internationally as an attack on LGBT rights. The Kremlin has defended it as a measure to preserve traditional family values.

Last year, Putin signed into force a series of constitutional reforms following a nationwide vote. Among them was the stipulation that marriage is defined solely as a union between a man and a woman.’

Great stuff.
The truth is the EU/NATO is now the communist bloc.

Putin wasn’t even born when Chesterton spoke of Russia.
I spoke of Russia.
C.L. spoke of Putin.

Mind you, Putin did tell Russians to return to The Church.
Not that he really needed to because after more than 70 years of the most brutal treatment of those who refused to give up their faith, Soviet Russia failed to kill that faith and it burst forth again with a power the secular West can’t begin to comprehend.

I think Andrews already indicated VIC teachers should be boostered by March.

Below just popped up on The Australian.

“Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton says Daniel Andrews has not requested public health advice on mandated booster shots, despite the Victorian Premier repeatedly calling for them to be adopted.

Professor Sutton said a third dose of the vaccine was not part of the public health advice and he would assess any requests made of him by Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley.
“When and if I get a request for advice on those potential measures, I’ll be very happy to assess the epidemiological situation at the time and to provide my recommendations on how that might change if at all,” he said on Monday.

When Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier asked if that meant aif any advice had been requested, Professor Sutton said “No it has not.”

Mr Andrews has repeatedly called for booster shots to be adopted as policy by national cabinet and on Sunday said three-doses would soon be required for people to be fully vaccinated.

“I think we are very close to a situation where the relevant federal bodies will determine that three doses is what is considered fully protected,” he said.

“As for fourth and fifth (doses), let’s wait and see how this goes.”

Last Thursday Mr Andrews said “When I talk to our public health team and our public hospitals teams, they say to me, this is a three dose thing.

Professor Sutton said a fifth shot was not available in Australia and a fourth shot was not being considered for mandate.

He said receiving a booster shot gave someone significant protection against the Omnicron variant and would likely protect them against future variants”.

Like the old commissars, these individuals make decisions in secret, they vote in secret, then they go out and tell you what you’re going to get that afternoon and order their “CHO’s” to make it “law”.

Also empty shelves and food shortages keep happening because of their decisions.

You’re living in a soviet nightmare.

What’s the point of NATO right now?

A very good question indeed.

The original purpose of NATO is long gone, and Trump belled the cat when he demanded that they start paying their way instead of sponging off the US. The horror!

Meanwhile, the EU is trying to set up its own defence force, against the wishes of several members.

It is reminiscent of pre WWI Europe, with ancient empires crumbling, shifting and contradictory alliances, and enough skulduggery to make the Borgias blush.

Thank goodness we are not involved. Directly, that is. Although, the insatiable desire of Australian politicians and some ADF types to sit at the Big Kids Table might yet see us dragged into this morass. 🙁

WA Premier Mark McGowan’s future under dark cloud amid lockdown backlash TICKY FULLERTONFollow @BizTicky

21 minutes ago January 31, 2022
No Comments

Business has had enough. The sporting world has had enough. Mark McGowan has been called a liar and a Muppet for his backflip on borders, and West Australian companies are seriously considering moving their headquarters to other states.

Yet the WA Premier’s very insular decision may be more damaging to him personally.

He appears to have put one sandgroper off-side who is crucial to his hold on power: billionaire media mogul and businessman Kerry Stokes.

Stokes stepped down as executive chair of Seven Group in November but he remains chairman of Seven West Media, publisher of The West Australian newspaper.

Like many West Australians, Stokes flew overseas in January confident of a re-entry without quarantine after the McGowan government committed on December 13 to open the state’s border from February 5.

Stokes might have had a few choice words for McGowan on January 20 upon hearing of the bait and switch: borders would remain shut with no future date set for a reopening requiring full quarantine.

Beaver Creek at this time of year is good, but not indefinitely good.

In 2020, Stokes and his wife were exempted from the strict hotel quarantine that McGowan had imposed from March that year; a spokesman at the time explaining that Stokes had undergone a medical procedure. That is unlikely to be the case in 2022.

The withdrawal of support for McGowan in The West’s editorials since January 20 is stark. It should ring alarm bells for WA Labor.

“If Mark McGowan can’t be brave enough to make the right call (not simply the popular call) after 10 years as the WA Labor leader and a landslide election win that decimated his Opposition and left it with just two seats in the Lower House then who the hell can?” said the paper on January 25.

In the last week, big business and sport have delivered public body blows to McGowan.

Two of the West’s highest profile businessmen, Wesfarmers chief executive Mark Scott and Qantas chairman Richard Goyder, also the chair of the AFL, are moving east for the foreseeable future. They simply can’t run their businesses from WA.

Since McGowan’s decision, a fresh survey by the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry of 400 businesses has one in three of them experiencing an increase in resignations. 63 per cent of businesses feel the decision to cancel the border opening is negative or extremely negative.

In a state that relies on mining for 49 per cent of business, the threat of a hollowing out of diversified businesses is real.

“The survey definitely points to businesses who are not just looking at a temporary change but potentially a shift of headquarters. This is really significant” says CCI chief executive Chris Rodwell.

Rodwell says senior executives buying one way tickets with no idea of when they return is a harbinger for investment decisions. Last year there was a surge of investment interest in WA. Not any more.

After McGowan’s announcement to open the border in December, companies that had been in a holding pattern for nearly two years started hiring and committing contracts. Now there is no clarity around an opening date.

Business will adapt. In the last three years, a new terminal in Perth was built to cater for a Qantas flights to London. When borders remained shut, the airline’s chief executive Alan Joyce deftly rerouted London bound passengers via Darwin.

Adding to McGowan’s woes is the reputational damage with international students. This is a brain drain that hits universities, training providers and directly affects skilled jobs at a time when WA has the lowest unemployment levels in the country.

In the week after McGowan’s backflip, thousands of international passengers were bumped off flights.

Frustration and heartache of domestic passengers has been voiced by some of Australia’s best and fairest.

On Twitter, Australian Open finalist Matt Ebden upbraided McGowan for preventing him from being at the birth of his child and for lying to Western Australians. “I think everyone there is starting to see that everyone has been lied to for so long, the trust has been betrayed” he said.

Having just won the Big Bash League, a furious Perth Scorchers Josh Inglis wrote: “You have had two years to sort out your disaster of a hospital system with your record surplus. We all did what you asked of us so we could get out of this. And you spit in our faces and take away any hope West Aussies had of this ending. You are a disgrace to this state and a disgrace to this country. ABSOLUTE MUPPET.”

There are commercial consequences for the state. The NRL is now reconsidering its planned State of Origin match in Perth in June. That may be months away but tickets need to sell soon given the interest is overwhelmingly from states in the east.

Confusion and uncertainty rule in WA.

Cricketer Adam Gilchrist wrote on Twitter on Monday: “Can anyone remind me why WA residents looking to return home are having to wait until Feb 5 to get let in? Even though they will be in quarantine for two weeks. Why can’t they just head back now and start the process?

Curious that the ABC has not seen fit to air the Beech case, although the BBC has. It’s an incredible saga of lies and of ‘believe the victim without checking’, called an exercise in ‘stupidity’ on the part of the police in the investigative commission reviewing the case. The Beech case was live at the same time as that of Cardinal Pell, with judge Mark Weinberg referring to the Beech case in his dissenting decision to acquit Cardinal Pell. So much for the relevance of the ABC, though.

I have my own theory on rings of pedos being picked up.
It’s class.
The lower class/ ethic version was Rotherham. Middle class/ professional is more the scouts and infiltrated respectable professions. Finally there is the wealthy and well connected.

You may be correct. Remember the so-called “Family” that lurked around Adelaide back in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s? An accountant named Bevan Spencer von Einem was convicted of a couple of murders (Richard Kelvin for one) but police then, and now, remain convinced that multiple people were involved.

At the time, numerous rumours swept around Adelaide but the overwhelming consensus was that there was a coterie of otherwise well-respected but definitely well connected participants in the crimes. The police almost confirmed it but always stopped short. In total, about 10-12 persons were thought to be responsible but despite huge rewards being offered, nobody came forward.

But there was certainly evidence of linkage. In 1979 Derrance Stevenson was a lawyer acting for an ‘anonymous’ witness at the inquest into Dr George Duncan who had drowned after he was thrown into the Torrens River in 1972. The area around the Torrens was a well known haunt for homosexuals and Bevan Spencer von Einem was there that night. A fellow named David Szach (Stevenson’s lover) was convicted of murdering Stevenson who was found curled into the foetal position and packed neatly into a chest freezer with a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Stevenson was 45 years old at his death (Szach was 19) and Stevenson’s home was well known for wild (all male) parties and a ‘conga line’ of very young men passed through its doors. The number of less willing victims drugged/raped is thought to be no less than 150 plus the murder of 5 young men.

Thanks Cassie, for raising the Carl Beech story.
The key thing is, Beech totally built his story from scratch using the defamatory “red shoes, pizzagate” type shit floating around the net.
It is bad enough that certain “too many tabs, not enough sleep” types swallow that stuff whole, but it is horrifying that Plod builds a case around it without the most rudimentary attempts at corroboration.
Particularly when his story kept shifting and escalating over months or years, with new characters being added faster than Home and Away at contract renewal time.
Two basics.
1. His wife recognised him from a Panorama interview (they showed him in silhouette, but because he was a fat fuck, she recognised the blobby shape). She immediately became suspicious, because he had told her about abuse by his step-father but not a word of this other stuff. If Plod had interviewed her early on it should have raised alarm bells.
2. The knife. He claimed to have a pen-knife which was given to him by one of his accusers, and this knife was supposedly used to threaten “another victim” with castration. The knife was readily identified as one Beech had kept in a box of “good memories” items, and was given to him by his grandmother.
Two basic checks which would have brought him undone much earlier.

Man hands himself into police after woman found dead in ‘acid-filled bathtub’ (Sky News, 31 Jan)

New South Wales police officers have arrested a man after a woman’s body was reportedly found in an “acid-filled” bathtub in an unit in Sydney’s western suburbs.

Emergency services were called to an apartment complex on Pennant Hills Road in North Parramatta on Sunday about 4:30pm after reports from her family of a domestic-violence related incident.

Police arrested the man after he handed himself in to Bankstown Police Station early on Monday afternoon.

A truck has been seized in Greenacre and will be forensically examined.

Bankstown and Greenacre eh? And no description of the perp. Hmm, let me guess. Well he’s now found out that pouring a few carboys of HCl into a bath tub will not dissolve a body despite what popular stories might say. Liquefying a human probably takes as much as a tonne of active reagent, lots of oxidant, heating and a container a whole lot bigger than a barrel, as the Snowtowners found.

You can only ascribe harmful government action to stupidity for so long, when all the information necessary to stop and change direction is public knowledge and readily available, despite the concerted effort of the mainstream media. Enough data are available on their own websites, FFS, as well as sound warnings and information from highly qualified professionals in relevant disciplines. Lisa Wilkinson blasted by Dr Nick Coatsworth over ‘inner-city privilege’
NICK TABAKOFF

Over the silly season, there’s been a fascinating off-air stoush building between The Project’s host, budding epidemiologist Lisa Wilkinson, and the country’s ex-deputy chief medical officer and regular Project guest Nick Coatsworth.

The situation culminated last week with Coatsworth suddenly posting a series of comments highly critical of Wilkinson’s support of fresh lockdowns imposed by NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

One of several retweets about Wilkinson read: “Lisa Wilkinson praising NZ for putting close contacts in 24 days of isolation just shows her inner city, multi-millionaire, guaranteed wage privilege.”

When Diary reached Coatsworth, he confessed to some regret about his social media storm on Wilkinson. “It’s not ideal – I’ve got a pretty good relationship with The Project. I’m sort of trying to hose it down. It was a moment of weakness when I sent out the tweets. I’ve got nothing against her personally. I just fell into the trap of saying it on Twitter.”

It all appears to have started when Wilkinson took to Twitter last month to troll Coatsworth for what she saw as “defending” NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet’s decision to temporarily drop Covid-19 mask mandates when he appeared on her own show in December.

“You’ve seen those numbers in NSW, they’re going through the roof,” Wilkinson had told Coatsworth on air. “People’s Christmases are being destroyed – because that’s the state where there’s no mask mandate.”

Coatsworth doesn’t appear to have been amused. So when Wilkinson went on The Project a week ago to lavish praise on renewed lockdowns imposed by Jacinda Ardern in New Zealand to deal with Omicron, contrasting it with what she saw as Australia’s Covid-19 “bin fire”, Coatsworth was ready with a social media baseball bat of his own.

Coatsworth tells Diary that when he went on The Project with Wilkinson, he wasn’t defending Perrottet, but simply making a case to Wilkinson about what may have been behind the NSW Premier’s action to temporarily ditch mask mandates.

“I was just doing an explainer about why his action might have been reasonable,” she said.

He has explained why he respectfully thinks Wilkinson and others are wrong on Ardern’s tough position on lockdowns.

He tells Diary: “I can understand why Lisa said it. But the measures she was calling for would not have saved Christmas. New Zealand is a tiny island nation and WA is isolated from the rest of the nation. But the eastern seaboard is concentrated in highly populated cities which were eventually going to get hit. The best thing is that before they did, we got vaccinated.”

Meanwhile, he has held out an olive branch to Wilkinson. “She’s a good presenter, a good host – and she’s passionate about her views.”

Oz link – comments are fun…a few:

The always interesting Steve Sailer on the politics of fatness:

Unlike the unvaccinated, who are widely seen as worthy of hate and unlikely to ever be powerful enough to get revenge, the fat are increasingly to be feared.

It’s not that the fat rank terribly high on the pyramid of intersectionality…yet. But you can imagine that they might someday, and thus you can foresee yourself having your career canceled in, say, 2029 over some fat jokes you told in 2022.

You never know. I mean, did you foresee in 2013 that dudes in dresses would soon be sacred? Granted, the average fat person isn’t as tirelessly diligent in forcing the rest of us to acknowledge and submit to his or her preferred self-image as is a heterosexual man in a frock with one tasteful strand of pearls. But there are a lot more fat folks than there are ex-men.

So, better not to say anything for your permanent record.

Of course, it’s by no means assured that the overweight will ever garner one of those much-coveted spots high on the totem pole of wokeness.

One factor that is likely to retard the rise of fat power is that few members of the American Establishment are personally fat. Indeed, they haven’t been for a long time. I can recall finding it puzzling around 1980 when my father (born 1917) would launch into a populist diatribe against the “fat cats” since few of the rich were overweight then, or now.

I am still wondering about the epidemic of massive obesity, especially in young women. I see young women aged in their late teens and early 20s who are huge, wobbling mountains of fat. How can this be? At that age, I ate and drank whatever I wanted, never exercised, was slim, and never gained an ounce.

There surely be some explanation beyond ‘they eat too much.’ I would have had to eat 24 hours a day at that age to get that big.

My personal favourite is a virus, as I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theories about hormones in food etc. But, that’s just a suggestion, I’m not invested in it. And, please don’t start about sugar or carbs or whatever. Asians live on carbs, and they are the leanest of all the groups.

On a related note, I saw a teenage girl with anorexia the other day. She came into the coffee shop with her mother, and they were collecting – of all things – a cake. This poor kid looked like someone out of Belsen – her knee joints were wider than her legs, her hip bones stuck out at 45 degrees and her arms were slightly wider than a kitchen paper roll. How she could even walk is a mystery.

I felt really sad for her. My guess is that she won’t make her 25th birthday. 🙁

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-31/hmas-adelaide-loses-power-tonga-mission-volcano/100793112

Our Navy is in great shape:

A massive electrical power failure has crippled the Australian Navy’s largest warship as it completes its humanitarian mission to Tonga following the January 14 volcanic eruption and tsunami.

The ABC can reveal that despite days of emergency work HMAS Adelaide, known as a landing helicopter dock (LHD), is still experiencing problems, having earlier been “stranded”.

An email sent by HMAS Adelaide’s commander states: “Marine Technical Department have worked throughout the past few days to restore power and get us operational again.”

In the message, obtained by the ABC, Captain Stuart Watters says: “We are still experiencing issues with external communications and wanted to let you know that everyone onboard is safe.

“We want to thank the technical team for their hard work in hot and difficult conditions which is enabling us to complete our task and restore services and communications.”

Sources on board HMAS Adelaide have told the ABC the ship was “stranded” for a period of time, because of a “total power failure”, including the backup power.

WTF?

Went back and had a look at some of the other names (I had forgotten) but were often associated with the “Family” in Adelaide.

Dt Peter Millhouse traded drugs for sex with young male drug addicts. In 1979, the then 45 year old had been having such an arrangement with Neil Muir for four years. Millhouse was the last known person to see Muir alive. He was charged with Muir’s murder but was acquitted at trial due to lack of evidence. Millhouse died in 2015.

Dr Robert Cowan was one of Bevan Spencer von Einem’s main sources of sedative prescriptions. von Einem had bought 135 relaxant and sedative prescriptions from two chemists nearby to Cowan’s practice and 112 of the 135 came from Dr Cowan.

Gino “Luigi” Gambardella was a chiropractor and a known close friend to Derrance Stevenson and Bevan Spencer Von Einem. In fact, Gambardella was present at Stevenson’s house on the night of Stevenson’s murder. Purely speculative, but some thought that Gambardella was the actual murderer because Stevenson had had pangs of guilt and wanted to leave the secret group of men involved in drugging/raping young men.

Gambardella was charged in 1979 as an accessory to murder in the Stevenson case but the charges were later dropped. However, it was revealed that Gambardella was a known ‘scout’ recruiting young men for sex with a client list of Adelaide’s wealthy and elite. Gambardella fled South Australia in 1980 and went into hiding in Italy. Current whereabouts unknown but he would be very old (or dead) by now.

Notice something? Two doctors, a lawyer, an accountant and a chiropractor all in cahoots. If the police estimate of 10-12 participants is correct, that’s about half the gang right there. Innocent until proven guilty of course (except von Einem who was convicted). By the way, David Szach who was convicted of murdering Stevenson was only 16 years old when he was first ‘introduced’ to Stevenson.

I felt most comfortable in SA once I was out in the boonies

For you guys here’s an interesting blog post from a couple days ago.

Saturday Snippet: A blast (literally) from the past (29 Jan)

A couple of years ago, I was invited to submit a short story to the third of a series of anthologies about warfare ancient, modern and future. It was published as “Trouble In The Wind”, edited by Chris Kennedy and James Young.

My story was set during the Angolan War, also known as the South African Border War, in which I played a minor and insignificant part. It was partly autobiographical, in that some of the incidents I described were from memory; and it was certainly realistic in terms of the terrain, combat, weapons, etc. I was never a member of any Special Forces unit (I’m what you might call “low speed, high drag”, the opposite of their style!), but I worked with a number of them from time to time, so I got to hear and see a lot. The specific incident that’s the heart of the story – the capture of a visiting Soviet general, and the resulting repercussions – didn’t happen; but other Soviet personnel were captured, and almost everything else in the story actually happened at one time or another (sometimes involving yours truly). I simply brought the details together and wove them into a unified story.

Now that more than a year has passed from publication, I’m allowed to republish my story. It’s too long to include in its entirety, but here’s the first part of it. I hope you enjoy it.

I haven’t gotten to the story itself since it’s fairly long and I’m still stuck in the PNG jungle 1943 with 15 Bgd. I may be some time.

Quite sensibly they are not being given any treatment for COVID.

That’s because they ARE NOT DYING FROM COVID.

They are dying from cancer, cardiac, sepsis, pneumonia, dementia, parkinsons, i.e. all the diseases that carry off the elderly. So no point treating them for Covid.
