Alekhine was one of the greatest Chess players, died suddenly in 1946.
His son later claimed that Moscow had a hand in his death.
But, you know what?
That doesn’t mean I hate Putin.

Quote from latest guest on Tim Pool.

“The Europeans are going at defending Europe with American blood”.

Seems Trump was right yet again. Clip going around of him talking, in 2018, about European countries not paying fair share of NATO. NATO set up to defend against Russia but made themselves dependent on their gas and oil.

Weird how kids of Biden, Kerry, Pelosi and Romney all involved in lucrative business in Ukraine. US$80,000 per month for Hunter Biden buys something but it was certainly not his business skills.

Hey Bill McKibben

Imagine* a Europe that ran on nuclear power: whose cars ran on locally provided electricity using Australian Uranium, and whose homes were heated by electric air-source heat pumps. That Europe would not be funding Putin’s Russia, and it would be far less scared of Putin’s Russia – it could impose every kind of sanction, and keep them in place until the country buckled.

Misanthropist:

I found on excercise if you were stuck with a subaltern who annoyed you if you found his gear unattended, and it was one of those times you had helmets, the best place to do a Pooh was in his helmet after you removed the liner.

Now that explains something.
It also explains a similar episode with the CSM who threatened the unit by giving me the unit compass next exercise.

Wivenhoe can get up to 190% before the wall collapses.
Since it’s still raining heavily in the Catchment, they’re gonna hafta release water sooner rather than later.
But, being a Labor Government, I bet they do it later rather than sooner.
Good luck.

I’m listening to an account of the sailing of the First Fleet to Australia. Sailing had to be delayed a day, because the crews of half the ships were too pissed to do their jobs, the Provost Marshall of the new colony was left behind, the the fleet was halfway to South America before it was realized that the Marines who were guarding the convicts had a fraction of the ammunition they would have needed…

How sobering was this post???? Put simply, factually…..the essence of the tragedy that is the recent history of Russia and her neighbours.

The post talked about events from 100 years ago [The Peasants War] to 1945 as if that has any relevance to what has happened the last 2 days.

Ed, it doesn’t matter whether you think they have any relevance.
What matters is whether the people involved think they have any relevance.
If the Islamic terrorists rant about Charles Martel then Charles Martel is relevant.
If people fighting against tyranny here and elsewhere in the Anglosphere see Magna Carta as a step in the hard winning of rights and liberties, Magna Carta is relevant.
If the Ulster Protestants march on Apprentice Boys’ Day and the Anniversary of the Boyne, those events are relevant. And, conversely, if Ulster Catholics whose ancestors migrated to Ulster in the 19th century for factory jobs whine about “the Flight of the Earls” then even that’s relevant.
If the Aboriginals want to be 100% wrong about their ancestors’ legal position before the 1967 referendum then even their wrongology is relevant.
I can tell you for a fact that there are Latvians alive here in Australia who barrack against Russian tennis players because of what the Russians did to them personally around the time of WWII.

People need to see what Putin really is. He’s a tin pot dictator/gangster of a nation he’s run for two decades that has a GDP smaller than Italy with 150 million people vs 60 million. He hasn’t done a thing for average Russian folks. His prime objective is to big note himself around the world as an important fucker. The only reason he’s taken a little seriously is because he inherited a ton of nuclear weapons from the old Sov. All he’s done is enrich himself and his oligarch pals. He’s a piece of shit.

I agree and disagree JC. I think you’re being a little too generous re. Manchin. “People need to see what Putin really is. “

I do and I reckon most here do. Putin is a corrupt thug and despot. However what Putin’s doing is the result of three decades of weak and rotten western leadership, both politically and militarily. I don’t know whether you’ve had a chance to watch the GB News discussion with David Starkey. You should (and interestingly Jack Posobiec is retweeting the discussion because it’s so good), Starkey, who’s an eminent historian, nails the current catastrophic Ukrainian imbroglio. We in the west have become shallow, indulged, flabby, adolescent, immature, obsessed with trivialities and so on. But more critically and catastrophically, as Starkey articulates so well, we in the west now view force, strength and power as bad…..the truth is that they’re not bad and they’re not evil. The likes of Churchill, Thatcher, Reagan, Nixon and so on recognised the importance of governing countries that are strong, not just economically but also socially, politically and most important of all….militarily.

I’ve been thinking over the last few days about a lot and I’ve come to the conclusion that one of the reasons the left loathe Israel (apart from the fact that most of them are rabid Jew haters) is because Israel is strong militarily and knows how to use military force when necessary…..and you know what, that’s a very good thing because Israel wouldn’t exist without force.

Under many post-World War II American presidents, there was a statue of Churchill displayed prominently in the Oval office. Apparently Obama removed the statue, Trump restored it and Biden has removed it again.

Apparently Putin has a statue of Peter the Great in his office.

Raining heavily again on Redlands coast, after a short respite. Press conference announced Wivenhoe dam 100% but Spityard Creek dam able to take excess. Poor Gympie copping it again.

Cleared for a bit here in Caloundra, but we were turned around 3 times on different bits of Kawana Way. The hospital is located on Kawana Way. Also Bruce Highway closed from Caloundra turnoff heading south, and we didn’t see anything heading north.

Luckily the back way through Narangba and Burpengary and Caboolture was still open yesterday after school (I won’t identify the school, but it is in the northern Moreton region), so I was able to save a 2 hour plus sit in traffic on the Bruce after school yesterday. If that alternate had been closed it would have been a very very unpleasant trip home.

Normal people are capable of seeing similarities between non-identical phenomena,

Let’s cut to the chase, Timothy.
You’re floating the bullshit that events in the Ukraine of the last few days are caused by Racial/Ethnic/Political [take your pick] differences and I’m calling you a shill, a dope, and a clown.
Do you understand where I’m coming from yet, or would you prefer an analogy?

Poor old self-beclowning Ed. Nowhere did I say that “events in the Ukraine of the last few days are caused by Racial/Ethnic/Political [take your pick] differences”. I said that things like that are relevant. Of course there are other factors at play.
But do you really think that the different ratios of identification as “Russian” and “Ukrainian” in east and west Ukraine have had no relevance to how those recent events have panned out? If 100% of the population of the east were solidly pro-Kiev Ukrainian patriots, mightn’t that have affected Putin’s calculations and strategic objectives?

As for an analogy, I suppose “Ed” wouldn’t do, because it isn’t an analogy, but a synonym.

Following the State Government takeover of all Water Assets, releases had to be okayed by the Minister’s Office.

“It certainly tells us a lot about the importance and influence of history on that part of the world, something that Dick Ed has spent much of the day denying.”

Once upon a time the importance and influence of history was valued in Western Europe too but no more. However Eastern Europeans haven’t forgotten their history, be it the Ottoman Empire, Soviet rule and so on. This is why almost every Eastern European country said NO to masses of Muslim migrants because they remember Ottoman rule and what happened…….dhimmi status, persecution, rapes, enslavement and so on.

That old adage is true…..

“We ignore the past at our peril. To navigate the present we must heed the lessons of history”.

The West no longer does this, instead leftists politicians, many of our “educated class” and the MSM mock and denigrate our history. Remember how we saw BLM activists and leftist scum defacing our statues back in 2020? The Churchill statue and the Cenotaph were vandalised in London. Yes, the memorial to those who sacrificed their lives in war was vandalised by middle class activist scum who’ve had everything delivered to them on a platter. And if they’re punished, all they receive is a slight rebuke. They’re laughing at us. Imagine for a moment if a Russian vandalised a memorial in Moscow, St Peterburg or Volgagrad (once Stalingrad) to those who died in the Great Patriotic War, you reckon he or she would simply receive a slight rebuke? I don’t think so.

Putin is a corrupt thug and despot. However what Putin’s doing is the result of three decades of weak and rotten western leadership

Putin is a thug and a despot.
True.
He isn’t the thug and the despot who has stolen the freedoms in the western world and intent on destroying Australia and Australians.
We have our own corrupt thugs and murderous despots.
While you all get swept up in this conflict, ask yourself what is going on at home?
What cash banning bills are being introduced?
What are the despots and murderous thugs going to do to us while we watch this theatre?
The war will be the excuse for every poverty inducing action taken by the traitorous despots on our own soil while , as we see quite clearly again, even here at the cat, people will be listening to the MSM and accept being told what to think and be concerned about, as has happened for years, while here many claim they have “woken up”……not looking at the above.
We can’t help anyone until we free ourselves from our own despots.

Our overlords need to be taken out.

Twitter reports of 2 x Antonovs downed, full of troops. Not conformed however.

In the Washington Examiner:

Two Russian transport planes shot down around Kyiv, Ukraine says (25 Feb)

An IL-76 heavy transport plane was shot down near Vasylkiv, a city roughly 25 miles south of Kyiv, said Ukraine’s top general, Valeriy Zaluzhniy. The Kyiv Independent reported the news, noting that the aircraft can carry up to 150 troops.

Another IL-76 carrying paratroopers was brought down by Ukraine’s air defense near Bila Tserkva, which is also roughly 50 miles south of Kyiv, said Ukraine’s State Agency for Special Communications. Two U.S. officials corroborated this account, according to the Associated Press.

The Baltics and the US have been sending Stingers to Ukraine the last few weeks. Transport aircraft would be very soft targets for such things.

The cash ban bill is of secondary importance compared to the digital identity bill.

If that passes, good lord we are stuffed.

Sort of complimentary . They are meant to work together.
As some of us were saying for two years, the vaccines are about introducing a checking system, a system that sorts the compliant from those who need punishing. The system is in place, and what ever restrictions get eased, the state of emergencies are still being extended after TWO FUCKING YEARS and mandates will never be relinquished. Oh yes, the truly thick might argue that they are being relaxed in many countries, but the checking system, along with state of emergency powers have not been rescinded.
We’ve got a lot more to be worried about with our own despots and the next stage.
Klaus himself said the great reset will be achieved after regional wars, pandemics and supply chain failure occur. ” The world will be a more angry place”

Typical fuckwit socialists doing the same old thing. Propaganda and destruction to bring on the utopia of owning nothing and making the elites happy.

Why now?
In normal times Putin starting this would be analysed with less cynicism, but knowing what we know after the last two years, you’d have to be a certain type of gullible to not be cynical and to be looking at our own globalist masters.

Conservatives have broken out and are now immune which is great.

Ukraine is ruled by a corrupt crony oligarchy that was installed in a violent coup formented by Obama and the EU in 2014. One of the blessed ruling oligarchs plundered 300 million bucks from the place, they use literal neo Nazi para militaries to maintain their power and literally shell their opposition’s cities using artillery

I guess dot and JC don’t talk about that though. Like all libertarians the only things that matters to is gay marriage, open borders and the never ending expansion of global degeneracy to every corner of the planet under the tranny flag called “freedom”.

Apart from some short, cleverly edited videos of rolling tanks and trucks, one out-of-control tank, some explosions of independently unconfirmed origin, distant smoke columns and one or two damaged (by what?) buildings… is there any real, in-your-face evidence of actual violence in Ukraine?
You know.. like if there was an actual war happening?

You know, even if the pools of blood and body parts were pixellated, it would have been OK for uploading to YouTube, even Rumble or BitChute..

Banal, trite, panic-mongering, so-called commentary from vested interests and the always-ethical MSM has succeeded in emptying the streets of Kyiv.
I’ll admit to that.

But no evident violence… not a sausage.. that I can see.
A few crying babushkas aren’t as convincing, are they?

The beauty of Kyiv central district and monuments, devoid of lots of people, on those long livestreams is lovely an’all but… but…where’s the violence?

Where’s the destruction and the whistling of MIGs and their missiles hitting military targets, the explosions and their propaganda filming by patriotic Ukrainians’ ubiquitous mobile phones?

Am I the only one who’s missed all the action?

Is it possible that we… gasp!… are being sold a pup?

Then plowed those saved Billions into enabling the Russian treasury to swell. Trump tore strips off the Euroclownshow , made them cower like guilty school kids caught smoking.
