avoid canola and other oxidised oils for a start.

How is canola oil oxidised? Are you saying have no unsaturated fatty acids at all?

If it hasn’t gone off, it isn’t oxidised. Even if it has broken down, it may have simply been hydrolysed (reduced) (and yes this can catalyse oxidation).

The worst part of the refining process is how the vitamins such as tocopherols are removed. Some people pay to have them artificially put back in.

I get the argument over fatty acid ratio and how done omega fatty acids are anti nutrients.

You’re going have to lay out this oxidation idea.

The other factor ScoMo has going for him is that there is a lot of world uncertainty about these days, and most voters are scared of the unknown in doubtful times.

When Whitlam and his gargantuan ego told us in 1972 that it was time to end the stuffy old LNP government we had had since World War Two, it was popular with the kiddies because the idea that he could put the economy into a tailspin was as fantastic as the acid haze of the 1960s. It was party time — what could possibly go wrong?

As Top Ender says, 2022 isnโ€™t party time. Thereโ€™s no will for an โ€œItโ€™s Timeโ€ campaign even if there were a Whitlam among us. Elbow is no Whitlam, just a grubby old Trotskyist shop steward who, like Joe Biden, has to lie about his past.

Weโ€™ve just been through the traumatic mismanagement of Kung Flu in which our bureaucrats declared war on the economy and Australian families.

Our main ally in the world, the USA, is in disarray, while its defence bureaucrats threaten to start World War Three with nuclear-armed Russia.

Itโ€™s not 1972. Itโ€™s no time for a frolic with a socialist alternative government that wants to use its mad ideology to wreck the economy and its ability to pay for government mismanagement.

If the increased activity for ambulances is true, there may be a very simple reason.

Manyโ€ฆmany people just canโ€™t get an appointment to see their doctor. For a raft of reasons, but I would say isolating because covid is one of them, thus creating a huge backlog. Much the same as site closure due to rain – the momentum is lost and rescheduling creates its own log jams.

So, what to do if you think you need urgent attention? Dial 000, natch.

In a state with a population well over six million โ€˜tens of thousandsโ€™ is not even a hiccup.

In the context of posters in yards , added to the millions of Labor rustedons rosie and you’re pushing shit up hill to get a sufficient swing to defeat Labor’s stranglehold domination in Vic. But we’ll see.

Fuel back down to $1.53 might gladden hearts to the LNP.

The centre (Treasuryโ€™s Centre for Population) estimates Victoria will lose a net 40,600 residents to other jurisdictions โ€“ particularly Queensland โ€“ over the three years to July 2023, before gaining 19,200 people over the following three years.

Bottom line- it won’t be for a couple of years before some come back if this is reasonably accurate. A state election will occur within that window.

I haven’t scrolled back yet, bar up to Kneel’s question.

It’s quite a simple answer Kneel.
Think about living by your convictions, which I try to do.

The government is killing people.
That is a fact.
It is killing people who willingly……remembering individual responsibility……got the jab.
If the jab kills you, you have no one to blame bar yourself.
Violence can’t be justified in that situation.
Not at all.
Not by me anyway, as I didn’t take it, and am living by my convictions of non-submission.
It only gets violent when someone tries to forcefully jab me…in other words attempts to kill me.
All possible peaceful routes first.

Here’s a fact.
If everyone had taken the approach to this I and a good few million other Australians have taken, this would NEVER HAVE HAPPENED.
It would have been over before it started.

Everyone who got the jab coerced or indeed wanting it, did it.

Disobedience is the winning formula..
Violence unless targetted and precise will play into their hands.

This is a propaganda war.
A twenty four seven fear campaign for now over two years that has never stopped.

The intensity of Albo’s grilling by the MSM is a little puzzling.
They normally test out their favourite beforehand to make sure they won’t be let down and embarrassed. KRudd’s New York strip club visit didn’t hurt him in the polls, so the media went 100% pro Rudd.

Is it possible that the MSM are worried that independents might hold the balance of power after the election?
If they make it look possible that Morrison could still win, many of those intending to vote UAP,PHON or LDP might drift back to the Liberals.

MSM can easily control the Liberals, but maybe not the outsiders.

Covid-19: Whatever happened to the Novavax vaccine? December 2021
Novavax had a vaccine with big promise. Its more traditional technology and easy storage attracted big global investment but, as year two of the pandemic draws to a close, the company struggles with regulators, disappoints hopeful governments, and lags far behind its competitors

โ€œThe US not allowing export of critical basic materials to India appears to have been a major factor,โ€ she says, and, โ€œThe US government used the Defense Production Act to solve some of Pfizerโ€™s supply problems.โ€

If they are going to change leaders mid-stream they had better hurry up.
The how-to-votes and ballot papers are being prepared this week I think.
We are caught out by time. We can’t ask for a postal vote now as once printed it would arrive at our address here too late and we can’t rely on postal services o/s for timely delivery and return. We can’t rock up for a pre-poll yet because they are still printing this week (need to check that). We have a suspicion the first pre-poll will be on Tues 26th and we are flying out then. Anzac day takes away the Monday. Our last option is to change our itinerary and take a trip back into London to Australia House and vote there. Daniel Lewkovitz LDP in Wentworth deserves our vote so somehow or other we will get it to him.

Hereโ€™s an analysis by a navy guy:

The doors of the helicopter hangar are open
True.
but the flight deck is cluttered and not prepared for flights.
Also true, but also the bird may have previously flown the coop
and cross decked elsewhere when Mother became indisposed.
The flight deck clutter could equally have been left when the ship’s company
took to their emergency ship leaving stations*.
It is likely that the helicopter remained on board the ship.
Or the birdies could be drinking copious cups of tea in their new home,
grateful they weren’t in the nest when things got sporty.
*Back when I were young, someone decided hands to emergency ship leaving stations was better for morale than abandon ship.

* Gossip โ€“ The common-or-garden name for โ€œanecdotal evidenceโ€.

There’s thousands of reports linking to it.
There were even predictions made by experts the government silenced, that claimed it would be one of the results of the jab, before it was pumped into millions of arms.
However, no one can know for sure whether it was the jab or not………………..BUT THERE ARE BOOSTERS and children being jabbed, and to only follow the official government line as Sancho is pushing here, is irresponsible in the extreme.

And Rosie is all of a sudden the great sceptic…..

But we all remember…..AAAAAHHHHH Italy……AAAAAAHHHH…New York……..AAAAAAHHHHHH nanna killers……….AAAAAAAHHHHHH CASES CASES CASES sniff CASES sniff CAAAAAAAASES.

Now she will not believe one death is from a jab unless an autopsy and subsequent coroner’s report can establish without the slightest doubt, that it could not have been death from more likely scenarios like a bad hair cut or the Salmon Mousse.

This simple reason was pointed out two years ago, and comes on top of the usual slew of stupid calls ambulances are called to which take time away from genuine emergencies.

It’s terrifying. People want a free lift to hospital because their family members are there visiting another family member (actually in hospital), and one of said family is likely to have some cash to be sponged. So – a 000 call feigning severe abdominal pain and blurred vision gets you a ride, and then it’s a hop skippity jump out of the ambulance at the other end.

Old Ozzie,
I have been reading your excellent and extremely useful posts (particularly on Jo Novaโ€™s blog) for a long time – & the very LAST description of you would be โ€œa moronโ€!!! Nor, clearly, are you an โ€œanti-vaxerโ€. The latter is a description that particularly annoys me. As I frequently tell people who comment on my (Covid) unvaccinated status : โ€œDuring my lifetime I seem to have had every vax known to man!โ€ This is, of course, an exaggeration …..but, as well as the usual childhood vaccinations, I certainly have had some of the โ€œout thereโ€ vaccinations that you were once required to travel to, for example, Africa….. Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Diphtheria (I think) , even (as I seem to recall) the vax for โ€œSleeping Sicknessโ€….

But, I will confess, after my “heavy dutyโ€research project into immunology and vaccinology, as a result of the dubious COVID vaccines, I will be fairly circumspect about vaccines in the future. One of the most serious shocks I have suffered as a result of this reading, has been the recognition that even published and peer reviewed research papers in celebrated medical journals are now in question because of the ubiquitous โ€œpayolaโ€ going on in this industry as a result of the enormous power of Big Pharma. Everyone in the medical research fraternity seems to be aware of it…..but not the bloody innocent public!

A rise in interest rates. Collapse in commercial and residential property. Stamp duty dries up. Victoriastanis are right back in the Kennett era

It’s worse than that, Bear, because Kennett still had an infrastructure of institutions that, while crusted with Labor’s appointments, remained salvageable or sackable.

Today, consider the various cancers Labor has implanted and which continue to gnaw away at decency and probity:

VicPol — incompetent, brutal, politicised, immune to investigation or reproach, selective in its targeting, devoted to revenue raising rather than honest policing, and with a hotline running straight from the Chief Commish’s office to Spring Street.

The courts — One word: Pell.

The public service — upper levels colonised by Labor and The Greens. Like VicPol, impossible to conceive of reform other than starting out all over again.

How diseased is Vic public service? Well, when one of the enablers of the Rotherham grooming scandal lost her job in the UK as a result of that negligence, she was immediately hired to a nob position with Vic’s education department.

The media — listen to 3AW, one example, for an hour or so and count the ‘public service’ announcements hailing the state government’s many wonderful contributions to the lives of Victorians. Amongst those announcements is a beaut in which an adolescent female is hailed for coming out as gay.

You think the media doesn’t know on which side its bread is buttered? Two years of fealty to the official COVID narrative should dispel that delusion.

Victoria, rooted everywhere you look.

A great pity this useful vaxx was stymied (see link above) by US govtโ€™s Pfizer push. mRNA seems to have far more side effects than Novavax.

Lizzie there is a vax better than Novavax one lurking out there. I read about it months ago, it allows the immune responses to target the nucleocapsid which has much lower mutation rates.

Osivax and 3P Biopharmaceuticals team up to develop a new universal vaccine against current and future variants of SARS-COV-2

The benefit of this vaccine compared to others lies mainly in the fact that it targets a part of the virus that is much less prone to mutation: the nucleocapsid. Osivax oligoDOMยฎ (OVX313) technology enables the transformation of the nucleocapsid into a highly immunogenic antigen to trigger potent B- and T-cell immune responses.

As advertising goes it was very effective since I resolved to never ever buy anything from them.

This stuff is weird. Who would buy a carbon neutral burger containing world-ending Africa-starving beef? We’re supposed to eat vegan burgers and insect sandwiches these days. It seems a weird selling point to go all political about. Someone must’ve thought it was a good idea. No, they used the best steel and rivets available.
There was a lot of silliness involved in the ship’s conception and symbolism.
For example, a fourth stack was added to ‘beat’ Cunard and every other line in the world which ‘only’ had three stacks on their top ships. The fourth stack on the Titanic was for show – though it did ventilate the kitchens.
Then doing 22 knots in an ice field at night to break the record.
Number and use of life boats etc.
Pretty dumb.

Engineering-wise, though, it was a marvel. It occurred to me seeing old pictures of all those hundreds of men who built her that they were smarter than we are. I mean, they are technically more accomplished, inventive and savvy than moderns. The rivet men alone were craftsmen extraordinaire. They had just ten seconds to ram and flatten 3 million rivets before they cooled off.

The latest Resolve Strategic poll showed Mr Morrison leading the Opposition Leader 38 to 30 per cent in the first major survey of the 2022 campaign.

Laborโ€™s primary vote was also slashed from 38 to 34 per cent in the survey, although the loss of support did not translate entirely to the Coalition.

The thing about manual skills is they evolve with technology and equipment.

The manual hot riveters of the 1800s were partially supplanted by steam and compressed air-driven hammers by the 1920s and 30s. And then almost completely by cold riveting and welding in the 1940s, depending on the application.

It has never totally disappeared, since commercial and volunteer concerns alike continue to maintain, repair and operate infrastructure and machinery built using these techniques. And just as well- 150 year old riveted iron bridges still bear traffic worldwide, as an example.

And while welded pressure vessels are de riguer these days, old riveted ones are just as capable of bearing stresses long-term, so long as they are looked after and treated with care. It could be argued that riveted ones are safer, as you might get a few rivets let go while the rest hold instead of an entire weld failing. You just need to be a bit more thorough in the inspections.

Israel to top up shrinking Sea of Galilee with desalinated water (Phys.org, 15 Apr)

Israel, a leader in making seawater drinkable, plans to pump excess output from its desalination plants into the Sea of Galilee, depleted by overuse and threatened by climate change.

Irregular rainfall, rising temperatures and intensive pumping have overtaxed the world’s lowest freshwater lake, which for decades has served as the Jewish state’s main sweetwater reservoir.

Wow, that’s terrible. We should panic. I wonder how the lake is going today?

Water level of the Lake Kinneret (14 Apr)

The water level of the Kinneret is 0.27 meters lower from the upper red line and 3.93 meters higher from the bottom red line and 5.80 meters higher from the historic lowest water level ever measured in the Kinneret.

I’m citing Daniel Allen Butlers account of that sinking – one of the best accounts written. He said they were victims of their belief in their own technology. They envisaged no circumstances under which all the passengers and crew would need all the lifeboats simultaneously. Watertight bulkheads and pumps would delay the sinking of the ship, while radio summoned nearby ships to their aid, and the lifeboats would be used to shuttle passengers and crew to said ships.

Ukraine invasion: Village hero who put down his bottle and became resistance spy AFP.

By Louise Callaghan
The Times
An hour ago April 18, 2022
4 Comments

A skinny figure with a shock of grey hair and a soft voice, Igor Mykolaichuk was a familiar sight in the village. He spent most of his time pottering about his ramshackle house and the surrounding forest, often in a state of mild befuddlement because of the bottle he kept close at hand.

He knew the streets, the houses, the woodland paths. A long time ago, he had been a soldier in the Soviet army. That is what made him such a perfect Ukrainian spy.

When the Russians arrived โ€“ and almost everyone in the village fled โ€“ Mykolaichuk, 59, put down his bottle and began collecting information about troop movements, feeding it by phone to a local territorial defence contact, who passed it on to the Ukrainian military command.

He was part of a largely unknown network of ordinary Ukrainians who stayed behind under Russian occupation, risking their lives to spy on the Kremlinโ€™s troops.

Many of them had been too old, poor, or vulnerable to leave. Some, like Mykolaichuk, refused to flee because they wanted to stay with their pets, in his case a rambunctious mongrel called Friend. They had not planned on becoming part of the resistance effort. But when the time came, they did not hesitate.

All right, it might be Uke propaganda……makes a good story, though.

Choo choo, youโ€™re a triple jabbed, bitch of McGowan

And if this was truly the best you could do to defend your non-demonstrable nuffy bullshit about governments killing people with jabs (Notice how the DeAtH CaMpS are all but empty? And remarkably luxuriously appointed, too…), then I’m pretty comfortable that I’ll be tormenting you with my non-death well beyond 11.5-23.5 months from now…

Again, some of you may have read about my conclusions after years of watching “never Trumper, useless right wing country club membership over political conviction” types, babble on about how no candidate is up to scratch.
No real desire for , or understanding of politics, they want to be part of what they see as a class separation…those in the Conservative/Libertarian country club from the low lives who should never be accepted under any circumstance….and in the process show just how little class they actually have, and indeed how collectivist the mind set is.
I don’t follow Bosi, because he doesn’t play a good political game.
However, a choice of a nation of Bosi types or a nation of the lying sneering Sanchos of the slip lane types……which would you chose?

Former ABC stars seeking GetUp alliance

A cabal of former ABC political journalists and on-screen personalities with โ€œstar power and cloutโ€ will partner with far-left activist group GetUp to campaign against a move to privatise the national broadcaster โ€“ even though neither major political party has any plans to sell it off.

Last week, The Australian reported that the ABC Alumni, whose chairman is former Media Watch host Jonathan Holmes, had launched an online campaign to urge Australians to โ€œsupport candidates who back a better-funded ABCโ€.

Holmes said his YouTube video on behalf of ABC Alumni โ€œis not friendly to the Coalitionโ€.

Among the candidates the group is seeking to support are independents Allegra Spender and ex-ABC foreign correspondent Zoe Daniel, who are running against Liberal MPs Dave Sharma and Tim Wilson in the electorates of Wentworth in NSW and Goldstein in Victoria, respectively.

While ex-ABC high-profile journalists including Kerry Oโ€™Brien and Quentin Dempster have already appeared at campaign nights for Ms Spender, and former on-air star Libbi Gorr is due to MC an event for Ms Daniel next month, it has now emerged that ABC Alumni is also looking to engage with far-left activist group GetUp, as well as Friends of the ABC, to further its cause.

Speaking at an ABC Friends virtual event in Ballarat late last month, Holmes said the Alumni group was now working with GetUp to counter the threat of the possible privatisation of the public broadcaster.

SHUT IT DOWN!!

FIRE THEM ALL!!

A squadron of US tilt-rotor combat aircraft depicted in dozens of Hollywood blockbuster action movies has landed in the Northern Territory.

Known as the Red Dragons, the 10 Bell-Boeing V-22 Ospreys have been assigned to support this year’s Marine Rotational Force based in Darwin.

“The Red Dragons are excited to join 5th Marines as part of the MRF-D 2022 rotation,” Lieutenant Colonel Vanessa Clark, Marine’s aviation combat element commanding officer said on Monday.

Tom:

Good luck with the sowing today, 132andBush, though, according to the radar and the Bureau of Mythology forecast, most of the rain in Victoria will be today, not tomorrow.
However you look at it, whatโ€™s falling now is a nice autumn drop hopefully signalling a good season is youโ€™re putting things in the ground.

If government had any sense, it would be paying for the inputs to get even the marginal areas cropped with the proviso of refund if the crops come in and cancellation of the debt if they don’t.*
But I doubt there’s any chance of government finding a large supply of common sense, or being able to provide funding in time.
*Ok, there are probably other supply factors – the most obvious being farmers and machinery, but nevertheless some effort could be made.
Unfortunately all the fat has been trimmed from private enterprise, and there’s little to be done.
