Former Premier Carmen Lawrence lashes Banksia Hill ‘tick-a-box’ response, Mark McGowan’s raise-the-age stance
Rebecca Le MayThe West Australian
Wed, 23 November 2022 9:16AM

Australia’s first female premier has lashed the McGowan Government for its handling of WA’s youth justice crisis, saying its hastily convened perfunctory meeting amid mounting outrage over the latest Banksia Hill scandal flies in the face of Federal Labor’s reconciliation agenda.

The 90-minute emergency summit of high-ranking officials will be held today.

After it’s short length was announced — and roundly criticised — last week, Premier Mark McGowan said it could run longer if needed.

Carmen Lawrence, who was also the nation’s first State treasurer, said the “tick-a-box” response to shocking footage of a 14-year-old detainee being hogtied by custodial officers appeared tone-deaf and insubstantial.

“It’s the first step you take before you do something serious,” the former Labor leader told The West Australian.

“You might want to pick a few people’s brains but they should have included prominent Aboriginal people and said ‘look we’ve got a problem here, we need to have a proper public policy process’.

“You don’t do it behind closed doors. You can’t do it by excluding the group who are most affected.

“The idea of a Voice to Parliament, the Australian community has finally woken up to the fact that we act every day in ways that are not necessarily sensitive to the needs and interests of Indigenous Australians and it’s time to stop that.

“The local Opposition figures … frankly, they seem to be more empathic than the (State) Government is at the moment.”

Professor Lawrence’s comments came before last-minute invitations were extended to First Nations representatives.

Carmen Lawrence says she’s shocked by the Labor leader’s outright refusal to raise the age of criminal responsibility to 14, while his Banksia Hill crisis meeting invitation list flies in the face of the Voice.

The University of WA School of Psychological Science emeritus professor said there were critical issues at stake that were not being understood and she was “quite shocked” by Mr McGowan’s rejection of calls to raise the age of criminal responsibility from just 10 currently to 14 “under any circumstances”.

Fourteen was “the bare minimum”, Professor Lawrence said, given what was known about developing brains and social responses at that age.

Umm, Dr Lawrence, the “Voice” hasn’t passed any referendum, just yet!

Caro and the caromites seem to think the real world adjusts to suit their foibles.
In actual fact they just added another weight to the scale against employing a young lady for a job in the first place.

As in the above from Duncanm:

And here enters one of the alarming facts of our cultural condition. It is the “spoiled child” psychology which appears in all urban populations. This malady, described by Ortega y Gasset in The Revolt of the Masses, afflicts any people who have lived so long in an artificial environment that they have lost a sense of the difficulty of things. Their institutionalized world is a product of toil and discipline: of this they are no longer aware. Like the children of rich parents, they have been pampered by the labor and self-denial of those who went before; they begin to think that luxuries, though unearned, are rightfully theirs.”

Which is why I keep coming back to “Learn the hard way, or the other hard way.”

Gold plated poles and wires news.

Electric truck stops will need as much power as a small town (22 Nov)

“As more electric trucks hit the road, the projected power needs for a big truck stop by 2035 will equal that of a small town.

Even the authors who planned the study were caught off guard by how quickly highway power demands will change. A connection to the grid that can handle more than 5 megawatts takes up to eight years to build, at a cost tens of millions of dollars. If power upgrades don’t start soon, the transition to electric vehicles — let alone electric trucks — will quickly be constrained by a grid unprepared for the demand, warned Bart Franey, vice president of clean energy development at National Grid.”

It’s getting to the point, as FlyingDuk found, that you almost have to put yourself under your own total surveillance not merely to prove what attacks were attempted upon you, but to prove your alibi about what you didn’t do.
Fortunately, my earlier visit, from SAPOL, taught me the necessity of ALWAYS filming any interaction with the police,

https://rumble.com/vp8bxl-senior-australian-military-doctor-visited-by-police-after-contacting-mp-abo.html
The body language from the SAPOL was classic. At least he’d heard of the Nuremberg Trials even if he didn’t know what they were about. Hat’s off to you for maintaining your composure and pursuing your rights. It would make a great training video, but not sure for whom these days. I might have once said for aspiring cadets to the Human Rights Commission. Alas its independence was compromised some time ago, as exemplified by the views of the former Commissioner Gillian Triggs – “Sadly you can say what you like around the kitchen table at home” fame.

The mostly male homosexual industrial complex was never going to be satisfied with winning the gay “marriage” campaign five years. Their target was always gaining access to children amd grooming them for sex.

So they took over the “trans” movement and transferred the gay “marriage” campaign war chest to the new campaign intimidating and demonising anyone who opposes their sexualisation of children.

And, of course, their new propaganda campaign has the total and unqualified support of 90% of the American news media, which is now smearing parents trying to protect children as bigots.

It’s fascinating that among the activists opposing the poofter industrial complex’s latest evil is a lesbian from the group Gays Against Grooming on today’s Tucker Carlson Tonight.

” I recall once when CSIRO were told by the government they had to get 30% of the budget from the private sector.”

I was working there at the time. It doesn’t sound unreasonable at first look, that 30%. Until you realise that by the time you add in all the overheads, it amounts to about 50% at the individual research project level, which I don’t think was the actual intent, but was certainly the reality.

Couple of things I suggested (that they poo-pooed) was to get lots of small stuff, and to give the people paying an option on IP – $x for 1 year exclusive, then we publish, $2x for 2 years exclusive and $5x for “it’s all yours”. Nope. They were always gonna publish on it, and they only wanted the big contracts, and only for what they actually wanted to do anyway.

I left when my 2 year contract expired, even though they offered me a permanent position – couldn’t stand the BS and the intellectual snobbery (the pressure to get a degree was intense, even though I didn’t need one to do my job – it was more so they could brag about how [over] qualified all the staff were)

this is at the ‘fucking derrrr’ level of understanding for these mongs.

A typical suburban (not even a truckstop) fuel station has tens of thousands of litres of fuel. Filled weekly.

Here’s a small rural servo selling 60-70kl/month. This one in Dubbo is 170 kl/month

170kl of diesel is 6.5 PJ, or 1.8 GWh.

Assuming we need an equivalent dose of electrical energy, that’s 2.5MW at 100% duty cycle 24/7. If plug (charging) time is only 50%, then its 5MW.

As has been pointed out to anyone that will listen, approximately half of our total energy consumption is liquid fuels for transport. You’d need to basically double the energy generation capacity of the country, and add infrastructure to suit (high capacity, low duty cycle circuits for household charging, and monster capacity high duty cycle circuits for all the charging stations).

50 Tesla supercharger stalls in a station is 12.5 MW.

Their proposed Megacharger stall has a capacity of 1MW.

So, simultaneously the Left are saying-
we need to be nicer to violent offenders, so let’s raise the age of criminal responsibility
we need to be nicer to muslims, so let’s waive culpability for the ISIS brides
we need to Believe All Women, so let’s waive habeas corpus and in-camera testimony and cross-examination
we need to convict more men, so let’s run a +4 cancellation bench for the jury so that we can winnow out anyone who looks like they’re on the reasonably doubtful side of beyond reasonable doubt. …and a majority verdict is a-OK too if it means we get to send him down.
Got to give it to them, the Lizard People know how to manouevre. Or maybe it’s a damning reflection on our own traditions, convictions and attention spans that the process of criminal law has gone the way of … well, gone the way of the rest of our Common Law rights.

On Tuesday they mounted their campaign to challenge for the title. Mr Danny Lim, a well known eccentric and 78 year old character around Sydney was making his usual protests about whatever. Let”s go to the tape:
“Two officers allegedly threw Mr Lim headfirst into the ground and arrested him after they claimed he “failed to comply” with police orders. He was then taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition… Mr Lim appeared to be forced face first into the ground by officers who were grabbing him with each arm … [Mr Lim is in ST Vincent’s Hospital with] Black eye, subdural haematoma and condition serious. Will be assessed re (regarding) brain bleeding by neurosurgeon tomorrow (Wednesday).”
Well done lads. Keep up this form and you might make the playoffs.

Other interesting stuff [tho not as interesting as Jane Caro’s Twitter feed]
is the U.S. Silver buyback of 1934.
Now, everyone here has heard of FDR’s compulsory acquisition of all privately held Gold in America at $35/Oz, when the price was $20, but they went after Silver at 3x the market price.
Anyway, China had been on the Silver Standard for Centuries, but this action wrecked the Chinese Economy and forced them off the Silver Standard.

We still don’t know the full facts of the incident, if the police used excessive force with Lim and if they were out of order then the police should be held to account. However a few years ago Lim was involved in a similar physical stoush with police and he is actually quite reactive and aggressive.

I love the tame language used to describe Lim. I work in Sydney’s CBD and over the years I’ve seen a lot of Danny Lim. He isn’t some quaint “well known eccentric and 78 year old character around Sydney making his usual protests about whatever”. He frequently walks around Sydney’s CBD carrying extremely offensive and sometimes libelous placards. I remember a few years ago he was draped in a poster that called Tony Abbott a “fuckwit”, he’s also carried similar rude signs about other conservative politicians. When confronted, he’s quite aggressive. His posters almost always contain the word “c-nt”. Many people have complained to the police.

Anyway, whilst I hope Mr Lim will be okay, as I said above, if the police used excessive force then they should be disciplined however perhaps it’s time for Mr Lim to retire from walking around draped in rude and offensive placards and instead go and play MahJong.

Dogs have owners – cats have staff.

As per the sign at the local vet – “There’s no snooze button on a cat that wants breakfast”. Although, in fairness, mine appears to understand “It’s too early” – she goes away for 5-15 minutes when you say that.

My over-sized and over-qualified Oriental x can easily see where my feet are and wraps his rather large paws around one of them. Translated, this means “Don’t pretend because I know you are not dead; the birds are singing; it’s dawn; get up now and give me my breakfast or you know what will happen next”! If I don’t want my foot or leg mauled, I do as instructed! This cat is a major reason why I am not wanting to die any time soon. He kills me laughing with his daily antics.

Why cops didn’t breath test at scene of Andrews’ 2013 crash

Secret documents reveal the reason police gave for failing to breath test Catherine Andrews at the scene of the crash that almost killed a teenage cyclist.
Michael Warner
3 min read
November 23, 2022 – 6:00PM

Ryan Meuleman spent 10 days in hospital after he was in a crash with a car driven by then State Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews’ wife Catherine at Blairgow

Secret police documents reveal the mother of a teenage cyclist who almost died in a collision with Daniel Andrews’ car questioned the Premier and his wife’s version of events in a meeting with investigators 10 days after the crash.

Hand-written police notes show Ryan Meuleman’s mum, Sonia Johnstone, asked police why no breathalyser test was conducted at the scene and whether the driver was “possibly on the phone/distracted” or speeding.

According to the notes, the Meuleman family was told a breath test was not taken because in the “opinion” of a senior constable, the driver did not appear “affected by alcohol”.

The police investigation notes are included in a legal file handed over by major law firm Slater & Gordon — which acted for Ryan in the aftermath of the 2013 crash — to his new legal team and have been released by the family.

Notes of the exchange between Ryan’s mother and police on January 17, 2013, were heavily redacted in documents previously released under Freedom of Information.

But Ryan’s barrister John Ribbands said the file provided by Slater & Gordon raised more questions than answers about the crash.

Mr Ribbands has also questioned why Slater & Gordon has not handed over some parts of Ryan’s file, which the law firm claims are privileged.

It remains unclear how Slater & Gordon became involved in the matter with both of Ryan’s parents saying they never engaged the firm.

“I’m trying to provide my client with advice in circumstances which are mired in murkiness,” Mr Ribbands told the Herald Sun.

“There are conflicting accounts about the circumstances of the accident, there are unexplained shortcomings in the police response, and there is uncertainty as to how solicitors came to be involved at that time.

“In trying to clear up that murkiness we seem to be confronted with more of the same.

“I have read the file from the former solicitors and there are a number of questions that arise, the most puzzling of which is their claim for privilege.

“I do not understand the basis for their contention that there are parts of Ryan’s file that are subject to privilege and even more troubling, they have not disclosed the nature of those documents which they wish to keep confidential.

“There’s a lot about this matter that just doesn’t add up.”

Recently my eldest son has cat sat for us, and it has taken our whole six week’s absense for Attapuss to come round and interact with him in any way. Today I have spent some time updating our list of cat sitters to call upon instead of bothering some family member with the task of moving in to our place for the duration. I only take female sitters who are cat besotted, and there is no shortage of them for a free holiday at ours near the beach.

There are a couple of good House Sitting sites that include pet care, btw, for those needing a sitter. Areff mentioned here that one of his big tasks before going to the US was making sure his little cat Elsie was well cared for. My son sent me regular videos of Attapuss slowly coming round to playing with his toys again so that I didn’t get too guilty at being away. Attapuss is also one of those cats with no snooze button when he decides it’s time for brekkie.

I speculated yesterday, half facetiously, that the Colorado shooter might be a tranny pissed off that gays didn’t credit his touted proclivity.

Tranny was not quite the right word. What I had in mind was that gays are as certain of the male/female sex dichotomy as straights.

A straight man likes women. A straight woman likes men. A gay man likes men, and gay women like women. They know what they are and know what they like: a gay man knows he is a man who likes men. He knows he is not a woman who likes men.

Trannies in fact would also be clear on the distinction between male and female – but thinking they are one betrayed by possessing the anatomy of the other.

It is the newer ‘sex is fluid’ ones that have the trouble. And such a person would surely insist they were not binary.

I might have been on to something in my prognostication.

Senator Kerrynne Liddle warns of huge rise in Indigenous heritage claims

Paige Taylor
INDIGENOUS AFFAIRS CORRESPONDENT

Liberal Senator Kerrynne Liddle claims the long-accepted test to establish whether a person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australian is being “tinkered with” in favour of self-identification.

Senator Liddle, an Arrernte woman from Alice Springs, told parliament on Wednesday she was concerned that an “astonishing” increase in the number of Australians who consider themselves Indigenous would have consequences for government policies and programs and the people who needed them most.

The South Australian senator made her remarks as a regional NSW land council pushes for Labor’s proposed National Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate what it says is the scandal of non-Indigenous people and organisations claiming contracts, jobs and benefits intended for Aboriginal Australians.

Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council chief executive Brendan Moyle has asked the joint select committee on the National Anti-Corruption Commission Bill to insist the watchdog has a mandate to pursue what he says are clever workarounds by enterprising individuals.

Mr Moyle believes some government agencies are accepting statutory declarations from job applicants as proof of Aboriginality, a breach of rules in departments that are supposed to abide by the accepted three-part test.

That three-part test says a person is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander if they have Indigenous heritage – sometimes this is confirmed in writing by a land council or other Indigenous organisation – if they consider themselves Indigenous and if the community in which they live accepts they are .

Senator Liddle said the test was not perfect but there was no evidence that it was broken, nor was she aware that it had become irrelevant.

“I am alarmed at tinkering with this definition and its impact and consequences for program and service delivery for the people who need it most,” Senator Liddle told parliament.

“There should be no place in government or in policy for a self-identification test or for fluidity in the definition, depending on program or policy application.

“With self-identification, there’s no validation, no accountability. It counts people who should not be counted; it relies on the box-ticker having a moral compass.

“It risks greater access to specialist services by charlatans to those services designed for the those who need it most.

“It fails, fails, fails every test.”

Ms Liddle cited the most recent most recent Census which showed an increase in the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians that was far greater than the birthrate. On June 30, 2021, there were 984,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, 3.8 per cent of the Australian population. This is an increase of 185,600 people – or 23.2 per cent – since June 30, 2016.

“That is possibly explained by the reply email sent from Ancestry tracing sites that tell people they are indeed Indigenous through a relative where there is no lived connection, no lived experience, no life experience and not for maybe even more than a century,” she said.

“What should be occurring is accountability of the government its agencies and community organisations ensuring the bona fides of Indigenous claims and we better get it right before we ask Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to elect representatives to the Voice, should that be successful at referendum.”

Better get in before the “Voice” referendum?

“Calling Constable Rolfe – are you free?”

NT Police will deploy an extra 40 officers to crime-plagued Alice Springs to help combat the ongoing surge in criminal offending across the township.

Commissioner Jamie Chalker said it was his intention to “flood” the Alice Springs CBD to curb offending and track down known repeat offenders.

The move comes off the back of an urgent message to Red Centre residents early on Tuesday morning, warning them to leave the CBD if possible after two allegedly stolen vehicles were reported to be driving dangerously.

Commissioner Chalker defended the social media post, suggesting the situation had been under control and was an attempt to ensure public safety.

it is mandatory to break test everyone involved in a crash where the police are called/arrive.

It is mandatory. You don’t get to say ‘well she didn’t look pissed’. You do not have that option. It’s not just in Victoria, it’s everywhere. Apparently.

You especially really truly and for reals do not have that option where someone has been injured, and absolutely especially not where someone ends up in hospital. Allegedly.

The only time, and I mean only time this is not followed is where the driver ends up in hospital, where bloods are taken. On a mandatory basis.

Not testing a driver in an accident where someone else is critically injured is called perverting the course of justice, and I would be extremely interested to know why that particular copper’s name has not been released via FOI or any other means.

Move over, Bruce Pascoe. There’s a new contender for grant cash in town:

A Tasmanian academic has accused the Australian War Memorial of failing to honour Indigenous Australians killed in “frontier war” conflicts between British soldiers and settlers and Aboriginals because “(its) board is full of bemedalled men and they probably jangle as they walk.”

The claim was made by Professor Henry Reynolds, who also said that as many as 100,000 Aboriginals were killed in the fighting, at the National Press Club as part of a talk with filmmaker Rachel Perkins to promote a taxpayer funded SBS series, The Australian Wars.

“Extremely important work in Queensland is suggesting that the death toll (there) alone may have been 100,000 … the death toll overall in the frontier wars approaches perhaps 100,000,” Mr Reynolds alleged.

This, of course, is complete rubbish. The true figure is likely to be 750,000,000.

Geez, getting to be a professor must be easy. I might give it a run.

Died Suddenly quotes two stats which undermine its whole doomer message.
First that 114 million Americans had gotten at least one C19 jab. [44:31]
Then Kirsch extrapolates from 14000 VAERS deaths [44:41] with assumed 1% reporting rate [44:51] that probably 1.4 million Americans died from the jab. [44:55]
Putting them together, that’s probably a 1.22% death rate from the jab. And the vast majority of jabbees have had this more than a year ago, 7 months longer than Kirsch & Co’s estimate of 5 months for most deaths.
So that’s worse than the disease itself, but that’s not the end of the world the way they make it out to be.

The 1 successful pregnancy in 270 jabbed mothers is the apocalyptic part of the Pfizer data, which does deserve some explaining. Whether that is temporary post-jab or a permanent fertility change is another good question, which is probably being answered by new pregnancies from this point onwards.

The Danny Lim incident unfolded thus:

Fairfax press:
The owner of the Queen Victoria Building asked him to leave the building.
He refused.
The owner called the cops.
Cops turned up.

Mobile phone video from one of the many passing shoppers:
Cops spoke with Mr. Lim.
Cops told Mr. Lim he was under arrest.
Cops attempted to handcuff Mr. Lim.
Mr. Lim began bellowing in the manner of a mental health patient.
Cops grappled with Mr. Lim & were unsuccessful in their attempts to apply handcuffs to him.
In the course of his struggles with police Mr. Lim leaned forward, such that his centre of gravity tilted & he was on his way to the floor.
As Mr. Lim was falling, cops capitalised on the fall by performed a (particularly inept) leg sweep, ensuring Mr. Lim fell over.
Mr. Lim landed on the tiled pedestrian concourse, his point of contact was his right cheek.
Mr. Lim’s right cheek & skull will have absorbed the entire impact of his body weight multiplied by his momentum, multiplied by any forced cops applied to his torso after performing the leg-sweep.
Cops pounced onto Mr. Lim, presumably to apply handcuffs, before backing off when it quickly became apparent he was badly hurt.

Salvatore’s opinion:
The building owner was entitled to ask Mr. Lim to leave their private property.
The building owner’s request to Mr. Lim to leave was a lawful request.
The building owner was justified in summoning the police.
Mr. Lim was acting unlawfully by refusing to leave when requested by the building owner.
Mr. Lim was acting unlawfully by refusing a (presumed) police directive to leave the building.
It is unlikely that arresting Mr. Lim was the default option of the two police officers (unless a legacy matter is in the mix, eg outstanding warrants or somesuch)
Mr. Lim was acting unlawfully by struggling with police (i.e. resisting)
Why the police elected to (try to) handcuff Mr. Lim is a matter for speculation, they certainly did not need to, they’d have been capable of carrying the old goat by the elbows all the way to the police station.

That two serving police officers were incapable of slapping the bracelets onto a scrawny 80yo defies belief.
That two serving police officers were incapable of grappling with a doddering old goat of 80yrs without tripping him to the ground & bonking his head fit to cause a serious brain injury is a mind-boggling degree of ineptness.

A teacher turned Greens senator has blasted Pauline Hanson’s push to ban transgender issues from being taught in schools.

The One Nation leader managed to revive her 2020 bill after it was rejected by a committee two years ago, and it was debated in the Senate on Wednesday.

Senator Hanson’s grievances with the education system included ‘Marxism’, critical race theory and ‘climate change prophecies of doom’ being taught along with ‘gender fluidity’.

Her bill demanded Education Department bureaucrats draw up a ‘balanced’ curriculum and that schools only get government funding if their states passed laws banning ‘indoctrination’.

Rookie senator Penny Allman-Payne, who was a high school teacher for almost 30 years including teaching sex ed, said the bill was an insult to teachers.

‘It’s not about balance. It’s about hate and propaganda,’ she said.

The former head of humanities said school curriculum was based in truth and science and teachers delivered it.

From the Epoch Times:
https://www.theepochtimes.com/not-the-bees-varroa-mite-madness_4880837.html?utm_source=ref_share&utm_campaign=copy&rs=SHRGQLJM

Australia was (until recently) the sole major honey-producer in the world free from Varroa mites (also known as “varroa destructors”) after New Zealand fell to infection in 2000.

It has been four months since a Varroa mite infection on the east coast triggered Australia’s biosecurity procedures, during which 15 to 45 million bees were culled by the state of New South Wales (NSW).

“Most of my beekeeper friends (myself included) have assumed that by being a registered beekeeper, the team responsible for the euthanisation would already have our details. In the middle of October, I worried about why it was taking so long to be contacted and phoned the DPI, who redirected me to the Exotic Plant & Pest Hotline—it was only then done I realised they had no idea our 58 beehives in the Toronto area existed. From what I can tell, it seems the DPI isn’t sharing registered beekeepers’ details and instead relying on them to self-report. Given that multiple friends of mine were also waiting to be contacted, I expect many more would be in the same situation and not realise they have to self-report.”

And as usual, the government body responsible for co ordinating the response is going overboard while also sitting on it’s arse waiting for everyone else to sort it out. Difficult to imagine, but they manage it.

We have a big story to share with you tomorrow.
I‘m going to introduce you to 18 year old Monica Eskander.
Monica is one of the unlucky people who suffered an adverse reaction from the coronavirus vaccine.
She wrote to me recently:
“I had to get the jab to sit my HSC exams.
“When I received my 1st dose I suffered the heart condition pericarditis.
“I was on treatment for 6 months straight and had severe pains.
“The irony of all ironies, I was too sick to sit my HSC.
“After hearing you talk about it recently felt like speaking up.”
We’ve seen copies of Monica’s medical records, which confirm she suffered:
“Pericarditis in the context of recent COVID vaccine.”
Only last week- one of Australia’s top advisors on immunisation offered an interesting observation.
ATAGI member Professor Allen Cheng said:
“Vaccinations are beneficial and protective, even for younger people.
“But the more doses you get… the less benefit you derive from them.
“And then we start to worry about causing side effects.”
According to Federal Government data- the odds of a side effect from the COVID jab are 0.2%.
But that doesn’t mean these people should be ignored.
We’ve been doing our best to give them a voice.
We’ll talk to Monica at 8:15am AEDT on Thursday.

Just gone up on the Courier Mail. No comments allowed. Wonder why.
A good example of how the propaganda machine works.

Research finds many Australians ignore Covid-19 warnings despite spike in cases

Nearly two-thirds of Australians are still complacent about the risk of Covid-19 infection despite a spike in case numbers and the emergence of new variants, a report has found. As a string of new Covid-19 warnings (Note : from the very enthusiastic jab pushers) ramp up across the country, a research survey conducted by Pfizer Australia found 60 per cent of Australians believed Covid-19 was a thing of the past.

The data compares community sentiment to how Australians were feeling a year ago when Covid-19 was rampant across the states and territories, borders were shut and many people were in and out of lockdown. The research also found 61 per cent of people were less concerned about the impact of Covid-19 in their community, while about 46 per cent felt less concerned about their personal risk of serious illness.

Health experts have urged people to work from home where they can. University of Sydney infectious diseases specialist and paediatrician Robert Booy said complacency during the current wave was concerning. (Note : that would be the same Dr Booy who is now appearing on Pfizzer anti viral ads on 2GB along with Ita Buttrose).

“Protection against Covid-19 infection requires several steps, including ensuring your vaccinations are up to date (more $$$$$$$’s) , practising Covid-safe behaviours and ensuring if you do test positive to Covid, you act fast by talking to your GP to learn if antiviral medicines are right for you,” (more $$$$$$$’s) Professor Booy said.

“Recent federal government data has shown Covid-19 still poses a very real risk to the health of our communities as we move into a new wave of infections, specifically to those at higher risk of serious illness.” (Note : I thought the data was the latest versions are less severe and evade vaccines but hey lets not detract from the narrative).

Recent government data for the week ending November 15 reported 75,590 cases of Covid-19 across Australia, with an average of 10,799 cases per day. This represents a 38.3 per cent increase compared with the previous week. There were 27,869 people across NSW diagnosed with Covid-19 during the same period.

Professor Booy said early testing was still the best measure for proper treatment and containment of the virus. Last week, NSW Health changed its Covid-19 risk rating from green to amber, while Covid cases in NSW and Victoria have doubled in just a fortnight. Queensland also changed its Covid-19 risk rating from green to amber earlier this month.

“The fact that one in three Australians are less likely to test for Covid-19 when they experience symptoms or consult their GP if they test positive compared to a year ago is of concern,” Professor Booy said. “Testing earlier means people can seek medical advice sooner and can access antiviral medicines faster if they are eligible.”

The Actuaries Institute’s Covid-19 Mortality Working Group estimates deaths from Covid-19 in the first 10 months of 2022 are approximately 9800. (Note : with Covid and avergae age mid 80’s with comorbidities – wonder why they never mention that part).

This makes Covid-19 the third leading cause of death in Australia for January-October 2022. It is expected to also be the third leading cause of death across the whole of 2022. Pfizer country medical director Krishan Thiru (Note : no conflict of interest whatsover $$$$$$) said many communities were still experiencing the impact of Covid-19.

“These insights show that we need to bring Covid-19 back on the radar of Australians and we want to play our part in helping raise public awareness of the risk Covid-19 still poses and the role we all can play in helping protect ourselves and those most at risk,” Dr Thiru said.

Hearts4heart Founder Tanya Hall urged Australians to remain vigilant, especially those who remain in high risk areas or categories. “This research shows that one in five of those at higher risk, like those over 70, those with health conditions like heart disease, lung disease or diabetes, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are less likely to test or see a GP if they experience Covid-19 symptoms,” she said.

“These people are more likely to suffer serious illness, including hospitalisation, from Covid-19, so it’s important these groups act fast by speaking to their GP if they test positive.”

Seems Pfizzer must be getting desperate to keep it going as now having radio ads and kindly conducting impartial research so we know what is good for us.

Apropos of schoolteachers, & of young women leaning politically woke, because: sans critical thinking ability;

Yesterday, realising I may have been a touch rusty, I appointed myself to work a couple of hours of public bar. (It was so much fun I stayed for six hours.)

A group of a dozen or so schoolteachers came in for a few drinks. The group included plentyfella female type schoolteachers.
Don’t know who was the more surprised; Them “How did you know we were schoolteachers?” (Lol, they’re so clueless at times), or me, cos schoolteachers entering a public bar is outside my experience & I have never before in my life seen a group of schoolteachers in a public bar. Ever. (Seriously)
(Though it should be noted this particular flock of precious nightingales made sure they sat as far as possible from the bar, & likewise from anybody else)

Two of the girly teachers, when ordering a drink (forget what, but it was served in a spirit glass full of ice) & they asked for a straw.

Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh, I just love questions like that from the ultra-woke caste.

“Sorry ladies, straws are illegal” (I tried to not smirk)
Brief pause while their cogs turned.
“You should have metal straws available” (in a weak voice, coz even they could see the problem with metal straws)
“Ladies, cleaning metal straws uses lots of caustic chemicals & water (I thought that one up on the spot)”
They sorta nodded at this, especially when I started banging on with making up stuff about the hygiene issues with sterilising metal straws)
“Ladies, plastic straws are best, coz they’re single use, thus hygienic, cheap, & it’s easy to have lots of them on hand.” (almost in a gloating tone of voice)

Pause, while they processed this & grasped for a riposte.
“Oh yes, but plastic straws are sooo bad for the environment” (with a suitably woke smirk)
“I’m shocked to hear that. Just how do you ladies dispose of your used straws?”

Total silence.
