Jeff Grimshaw, NotKean for Hornsby

Support Jeff Grimshaw, taking on the Green Blob Matt Kean for the seat of Hornsby in the NSW election.

As the east coast of Australia stares down the barrel of blackouts and brown outs, with an electricity grid on the verge of imploding, the NSW Government continues to charge towards the precipice of an energy disaster. At the pointy edge of the spear, a principal architect of the coming recession, is Matt Kean MP, NSW Treasurer, Minister for Energy and State Member for Hornsby.  Matt’s title might more accurately read Minister for No Energy.

Further, Matt Kean no longer represents Hornsby. His values are at odds with everything the people of Hornsby value. He is in the wrong electorate and the wrong party. It is time to say “We are NOT KEAN!”

    Anybody but Kean.
    It is incredible that Liberals NSW don’t get how much the guy is disliked by their voter base. Him being liked by Green voters doesn’t help his own party.

    Jeff is strong conservative and would be a most welcome addition to the Nsw Parliament Good luck Jeff and I only wish I could vote for him

    I’m disappointed that I got redistributed away from the Hornsby electorate. I was looking forward to kicking Kean in the nuts.

    Chuckle. Good political messaging.

    Will be watching the outcome in this seat from QLD with great interest.

    I’ve no doubt there’ll be a big swing, but I do doubt it’ll be enough to unseat Kean.

    The seat is very safe lib.

    But they (Greens supporters) won’t vote for Kean all the same.

    It was the same with Turnbull; nearly all leftists would have preferred him as Liberal PM to anyone else in the party, but they would never actually vote for him.

    Rock solid Liberal seat, this is an interesting experiment to see how many Lib voters are not green or pink “moderates.”
    I think there has been an agreement for other minor parties to stay out of the contest to avoid splitting the anti-Kean vote.

    Jeff is a mate of mine and an indefatigable campaigner against collectivist idiocy who’s not afraid to put his money where his mouth is. He is also responsible for this fabulous range of Liberty Line t-shirts (including a Shut down the ALPBC tee, of which I have two).

    The electors of Hornsby could do a lot worse than to vote for him. A lot, lot worse.

    In that case, I expect Jeff to do very well; looking at last year’s results, summing the ON and conservative-slanted protest votes plus a few percent growth for protest, I suspect he may eclipse the Greens’ at 12-ish %. Maybe even approach ALP who polled about 20% primary.

    Kean should drop below 50%.

    I don’t think there are now safe Liberal seats, as others have suggested here about Hornsby. The rich doctors’ wives party, the Teals, are stalking all the old suburban Liberal-voting seats.

    It’s tempting to thing a majority of Hornsby voters know Kean is a closet Green, but the assumption appears to be he is safe, so the only polling being done in Hornsby is LNP party polling, which will never be released — especially if there’s a chance he will lose.

    Good luck to Jeff Grimshaw and the Liberal Democrats! Knocking off a closet state Green energy minister would be the party’s premier achievement in Australia.

    This Kean candidate is odious and annoying in the extreme. When liberal values and outcomes are at risk he never stops parading for the media and pushing himself as the green lib leader of NSW. Get rid of him so he can surface in green politics where he can sink or swim ….

    Australian have been voting for insanity for a while now in oblivious ignorance of alternatives, but I wish Jeff all the best.

    back to this. Candidates are:
    * GRIMSHAW Jeffrey LIBERAL DEMOCRATS
    * BUSCH Steve ONE NATION
    * CASWELL Benjamin Independent
    * THOMAS Justin SUSTAINABLE AUSTRALIA PARTY – STOP OVERDEVELOPMENT / CORRUPTION
    * SALITRA Tania THE GREENS
    * KEAN Matt HORNSBY HEIGHTS LIBERAL
    * DIGNAM Adrian ARCADIA Independent
    * HOILE Melissa PENNANT HILLS LABOR

    So there’s a ON candidate.
    Caswell looks like a nothing nimby feel-good candidate. His policy statements are all waffle. Doesn’t look Teal-ish (not enough green in there, and he’s a he).
    Dignam seems to have stepped in as a conservative indi who’s pissed at covid and energy policies. A fellow traveller.

    (ps: Jeff – you need to get a link up to the ldp website in your profile on the nsw elections page.)

    Hairy and I handed out how-to-votes for Jeff when he ran for the Australian Conservatives in North Sydney and were there to comfort him at the generally poor showing of this Party electorally. In spite of that knock Jeff didn’t give up, he continued with his excellent booklet, worked to assist CPAC in 2020 where we saw him on the night Trump ‘lost’, and is now running again as a Lib Dem. We will be voting Lib Dem in Vaucluse, and will help there where we can to fight against Teals and Libs.

    Jeff is an all-round good guy. When we first arrived back in Sydney from the US in March 2020, to home quarantine, amongst the last to get in under that wire and escape hotel quarantine, Jeff arrived outside our place and offered to get us a few groceries and anything we needed to keep us going. Our family had provided a lot but Jeff scoured local shops and pubs for some Tonic Water for my G & T’s, which were almost sold out due to the fact they contained quinine. Onya, Jeff. Best of luck.

    NSW State elections allow an optional preferential vote, so you can nominate those conservatives you think should get your preferences and eschew the majors altogether. You don’t have to nominate any more than you wish to, as it is quite open, you need not put a number in every box.

    The number of candidates of a conservative bent will split the vote otherwise, so ensure you use preferences well if you vote in NSW.

  22. Nelson_Kidd-Players Avatar

    I can’t always optionally preference, but when I do, I go through the good minors, then the half-decent minors and do put the Liberal at the end as a backstop. In the event the minors don’t get up, at least a blank square does not present an opportunity to add one more number for someone I don’t want.

    Nelson_Kidd-Players: who would “add one more number for someone”?

    Please explain.
