PJW raised an interesting point about peoples’ “dress” nowadays. We generally don’t.
I’ve worn a suit about once in the last three years (September last year at a conference in Brisbane). Fishing them out of the closet around that time was an eye opener. Mould, mould, mould. Brushed off, wiped down with water, hung out in the sun and then ironed.
Still need to get them all dry cleaned. However, wearing one is always an experience, but winter is when they are effortless and necessary.
If you want to be taken seriously, then wearing a suit is essential.
But FFS, I hate wearing ties.
I’ll always feel more comfortable in a pair of 501s, Chelsea boots, a tailor made shirt and a brando or Levi’s jacket (preferably white).
