If you are going to reference ‘culture’ as the reason for differences in responses to world events between individuals don’t be surprised if people point out some negative aspects of your culture.
Jews, by the way know all about slurs, the koran has them descending from pigs and apes.
The world had iirc 54 muslim countries and nearly 2 billion muslims, Jews have one tiny country and a world population of under 16 million. Christian Europe wasn’t exactly a safe haven either.
The Dutch don’t have an entire religion who’s manifesto includes killing them, or the within living memory experiences of the Holocaust, perhaps if it did it
might colour their ‘culture’.
Maybe Dover could ban the word ‘tick’.

Yeah, Mark, I noticed that. What most people don’t get is the Bible is an incredibly dense and interconnected body of work. For instance I was listening to a podcast today which talked about a guy called Melchizedek. If you look into his place in the bible (it’s in Genesis, which pretty much everyone regards as a tract written at least 3500 years ago) he fits perfectly with the words of Jesus Christ, his office and the rest of the prophesies. But you have to work at it to understand that.
No different to my profession chemistry. Got to start with acids and alkalis looong before you get to enantiomers and electrophilic addition reactions (which was my thesis topic).

Mme Zulu’s mother survived the “Hunger Winter.” You never wasted food in the house when Mme Zulu grew up.
Even during the 80s when mortgage interest rates rose as high as 17%pa it never got as bad as it is today due to the inflation of everything. Wages and salaries went up along with the housing prices so it was more manageable than today. Now we have the price of everything going up including home loan interest rates yet wages are stagnant and have been for over a decade. The only way a lot of families are staying afloat is that both partners work full time while that was much less the case in the 80, women who worked tended to do so part-time.
Times are really tough and our governments are working at making them even harder by pushing up power and petrol prices to squeeze people into electrical cars and renewable energy that just doesn’t make sense.
Those Teslas being driven around are two middle fingers raised at the mortgage suburbs by the Teals, Labor and Greens. We will see how it turns out next election, maybe it needs another 60/40 result to bring our rulers to their senses.
Crossie, last year the Liar’s party tribunal raised the mini wage by 8.75% and awards by 5.75%. Big increase that seeps all through the wage+ salary ladder and therefore prices. From vague memory incomes, in aggregate rose by over 4% in 2023. That’s not to suggest people are having it hard, but so are businesses too.
With many, many imaginary litigation millions won in a bizarre parallel universe.

Wages in Australia have been pretty much tracking the inflation rate. Between those years where it looks like a big dipper, wages were till tracking inflation, as CPI growth was minuscule in that period. In fact, the RBA was getting heat because CPI had remained below target for a very long time and people wanted them to get it back to target. The reason that wages haven’t see decent real increases is because our productivity has been worse than woeful. Real wages can only rise with increases in productivity.

Correct, JC.
That’s because the trade union government no longer represents the Australian working class, just the fat cat union leadership getting rich from superannuation management fees who represent less than 10% of the real economy workforce.
Relieved of the obligation to represent workers, Australian unions now are nothing more than breeding grounds for political radicals, whose current obsession is hatred of Australia.

A follow up on Golfo Aranci.
Small fishing village pre tourism. Not much else agricultural activity wise in this corner of Sardinia. The coastline is magnificent, granite hills, islands, low scrub but wild and inhospitable, now with bays tamed for tourism.
I’m very sorry the train wasn’t running, it runs along the coast between Golfo Aranci and Marinella, and the road did not.
Marinella was the most ghost town of all, the big hotel was completely closed and not a soul to be seen.
Me on my exclusive coach headed back in the setting sun, the sun on one great outcrop had it glowing, spectacular.
Back in Oblia the locals were finally out on Saturday evening, there was a little outbreak of Carnevale on the harbour side and general promenading as the clouds had finally scuttled away.
I’m finally going to see the interior of the ancient church next door properly, no weekday masses, no lights on, it’s very gloomy inside, not many windows. The very bare St Simplicio was brighter, another Diocletian martyr from 304 AD, the current church dating, not including additions and alterations, to the 11th century.
I’m off to Sassari this afternoon, train, €8.10.
I started with the NAB at the beginning of 88 and transferred to Corporate Banking Victoria around 1990 just as Pyramid and everything was collapsing. It was ugly. A well known engineering firm (now owned by the Chinese) was having every cheque written referred to the manager who was only paying wages cheques.
The labour movement is now an extortion racket with a party-political front.

Just go stay on Porto Cervo. They even had a Harrods there when we stayed, proving just how authentic the place was. LOL.
I guess that was my point, they heard the bible, as we still still do, and had it explained to them by the apostles and then by their bishops and priests.
Reading it is not a prerequisite for heaven.

Jesus of course also preaching in the synagogues.
That’s okay, Rabz. No issue being wrong. The reason I’m going into this is because our business’s comp advisory firm told us there were two sets of increases and we ended up paying some awards and some mini based on those two numbers. I’ll be checking in with them tomorrow. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed your day Rockdoctor, you were fairly near my neck of the woods. The blackberries went mad around here this year; very big and juicy. Daughter picked plenty before they sprayed the plants. I picked a few ‘wild’ ones on our place and a load of ‘tame’ ones (American thornless). Wild ones hacked back a bit for now.

No, it’s not, Rosie.
Salvation is by grace through faith, not by works (not even reading the work of reading scripture).
That being said, I can’t imagine not reading the Bible if I was able to read it. The Catholic Church has greatly encouraged lay Bible reading since Vatican II.
calli I’m sure there are cats who have heard of our own Elizabeth Blackburn who was awarded a Nobel Prize in 2009 in Physiology/Medicine for her for the discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and the enzyme telomerase – are determinants of ageing. At the time of Ms Blackburn’s award I read much about her research and how it involved looking at what caused the shortening of the telomeres. It came as no surprise to me that as part of her her research Ms Blackburn studied the ageing process in carers of people with lifelong ,severe and persistent disabilities as well as carers of people with dementia and people who are frail-aged. Very interesting work by a Tasmanian lass — Sadly, Elizabeth Blackburn is not regarded as role model and trailblazer for young Australian women and girls.
Let’s just jack up the minimum wage by 9% while running the printing presses 24/7, Cats – you know it makes nonsense! 😕
And getting thrown out of them!
You suspect the bulk of the delivery of the Brisbane Olympics won’t be the responsibility of the Qld Liars. After the pigs ear the Chairman made of the Cth games I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cth virtually assume responsibility at some point. Stop whining and do something about it!
If the Jewish community really cares and wants to act, what’s stopping them?
Curling up into a ball and demanding sympathy only goes so far. Maybe that’s your culture. It’s not mine, we harden up.
Cassie
You know, it’s early in the morning, a new day, people come here and post comments about what’s going on in this country and the world. But not the resident of the Queanbeyan. No, she wakes up, consumed and obsessed with Lizzie and me, and rushes to post shrill and nasty comments. It’s really sad.
Cassie
“I’m pretty sure I have never ever pretended to be a member of the IDF.”
Johanna
Dishonest, I never said that you did. You are making stuff up to justify your neurotic, unhelpful and attention-seeking responses, take that to your therapist – moo!
While sharing, like your dear friend Lizzie, your feelings here as a sign of what a good person you are is undoubtedly personally satisfying, it is essetially fake.

It’s not a joke, KD. This site is full of cowards who either joke about or ignore and do not call out someone making commentary that is way beyond the pale.
The site is unpleasantly lop-sided. (reference to upticks/downticks)
—
The bolded comment I made constitutes what is true anti-Semitism. Jews during the Shoah Holocaust/Genocide were often libelled as not resisting and organising during their rounding up for the gas chambers. Anti-Semites labelled Jewish ‘culture’ as pleading and unworthy and not stoically ‘Aryan’. Johanna’s comments, those two lines in particular, inflect real anti-Semitism. She is perhaps too self-obsessed with her own whip cracking to recognise that.
Israel created the IDF to protect all Jewish people and the homeland of Israel. Jewish people today world-wide feel under threat in ways similar to the 1930’s. Johanna today has doubled down on her self-entitled PR spin and made-up memes. Not a hint of regret for the damage she has caused to Cassie or to the harmony of the site. She has managed to harass a Jewish woman off this site by her selfish doubling down demands, revelling in applause of her ‘toughness’. Well done? I don’t think so.
A decent person would apologise to Cassie immediately.

We were down at the beach today and went out for a coffee. (Okay and a cig, seeing wifey wasn’t with me).
Between the kitchen and front o’house there were 7 people working there, and the frog owner. The place is busy, but the running costs on a Sunday must be enormous.
7 people at say 40 bucks an hour is $280, but round it off to $300. Say, the average coffee is $5.50, that means they have to be selling 54 cooffeees an hour to break even and that’s not including direct costs. Sure, there’s also food being sold, but boy totaling up direct and indirect costs and expenses, there’s not a lot left over. This is a busy joint.

Lizzie – in that multitude of quotes, you missed the one where you said another poster was a coward, and you also missed this one:
‘This site is full of cowards’.
I will assert that his august journal of record, for the very most part, consists of people who are most assuredly not cowards.
That is an extremely strong term to throw about, and while the term may mean something to people waaaay up looking at pebblecrete and harbour views in Australia’s richest suburb, it means something very different to the rest of us.
The last commenter to continually use that term was the high-falutin’ Consty-waving demonstrably gullible dEatH CamP believing truck driver who embarrassed himself so thoroughly he went elsewhere, after notably saying ‘Well, what else what I supposed to think?’ after yet another of his prophecies turned to shit.
If you could name one commenter here at present – just one, except for Bolton – who is not at least nominally pro-Israel and IDF it would be appreciated, because I can’t think of one.
I take no position on the nevertheless extremely entertaining, decades-long old woman stoush, because it’s funny. However, to excoriate all posters here – ‘this site is full of cowards‘ and then threaten to flounce yet again because they won’t immediately accept the invitation to a pile-on is silly.
i did listen
not angry
i laffed a bit actually
I have a feeling the question will be taken out of his hands, one way or another.

So, if you’ve never had covid and you’re still getting jabbed…?!

i guess people who can no longer cope will need to drop off elderly and demented family members to Albo’s office or the electoral office of Tony Burqua, or their local federal member, it’s the only thing that seems to work and then the family members can put the wood on the bastards to make sure their vulnerable member is properly cared for by the bastards, hold them to their own standards. Or maybe Greg the Pecksniffian Combet would have a spare room or two.
Knuckle Dragger at 7:42 – the hen house was rather unruly yesterday.
Lizzie, why are you still having a go at me? Your animus is very deep seated.
I had the hide to not respond to Joh like a screaming banshee, but instead tried to tease out a practical response.
You have completely ignored my own fears and worries about what is happening to Jews in Sydney. Do you have Jewish grandchildren for whom you fear? No you don’t.
So stop pretending to be some sort of martyr for the cause. You are not.
You said that I was a coward. Do you really want an expression of my “bravery”? You just got a tiny serve right there.

Don’t get upset like last time. I’m just curious, that’s all as I’ve never spoken to anyone who’s been in the clink. Why did you get a stretch.
Don’t fly off, as it’s not having a go at you.
Jesus of course also preaching in the synagogues.
Jesus was Jewish?
Now I’ve heard everything.
Yes, but he does bless CL’s site with many, many woidwoills, as is his want.
No mention of injun truck drivers and their rural roadhouse oblutionary habits, unfortunately.

I used to think that people who believed things like the following (from Powerline’s WiP) were whack-jobs.
It appears that I’m now a whack-job too.
I hope they have an impressive logo.
Or at least name badges.
Is there a collective noun for whack-jobs?
(I don’t believe the covidiocy was planned, but it was an amazing opportunity for a trial run. It’s the last sentence of the above quote that I find the most chilling: Identify and alienate; create pariahs within a community, and enable the community to be the hunters).
And furthermore, I’ve spent a lot of today in between visiting my mother and other household duties, decrying the horrible use of downticks against you and the upset it has caused.
The thing has been gamed and manipulated by people who wanted you to do exactly what you did – leave the blog, then come back for a bit more of the same. You’ve been played like a Strad, and it wasn’t by me.

“Don’t get upset like last time.”
I didnt get upset last time .. i was just exploring where a worthwhiile and honest conversation can be found on the Cat … not here and not now apparently … it doesnt upset me.
Yeah, yeah, OK, Cats – that was a bit of a cheap shot.
St Ruth, for all his faults, of which there are many*, could never be accused of using one word when spraying around 100 was his preferred option.

Okay, so why the stretch?
an if I post something objectionable I get a message informing me it requires “moderation” but now post are just failing to go into either basket.
Lizzie has a Jewish friend who she fears for. And that Jewish person is me.
But that’s okay, I was told here that we Jews just have to harden up.
I don’t know whether anyone else here saw Outsiders this morning but Daniel Lewkovitz (who is an expert in security) has accumulated lots of footage of what ensued at Town Hall (a sight I personally witnessed) and at the Opera House on Monday night 9 October 2023.
It’s very unpleasant footage, and it is much more rancid than we ever imagined. The Jewish community should be worried, very worried.
$7bn in C’wth funding already granted.
They’ll have it from his cold, dead hands.
Or Crisafulli’s.
Same difference, really.
And there are only so many construction firms in SE QLD big enough to take on the work, all of them beholden to the unions.
Jesus was Jewish?
No, apparently he was Palestinian.
Did Jesus preach in a mosque?
And I trully dont care Chappies you’re blog .. your roof your rules. I have always complied .. I have never hit out with foul language at any one .. I have always stuck to the subject under consideration ..
As for good ol’ Faulty, well, he is at no risk of losing his crown as the grandpapee peddler of the most preposterous Ozzie Conspiracy Hypotheses of all time.
We are talking about a carbon based lifeform, (allegedly) confined to a wheelchair, who according to himself, could not get a good night’s sleep unless he’d imbibed at least three litres of chateau cardboard (of the red persuasion) every night.
However his courageous meeja jihad against the concrete box around the corner from where I was employed for six years deserves to remain the stuff of legend. 🙂

“Don’t get upset like last time. I’m just curious, .. ”
well rather than rely on my say so how about you get banged up your good self? It might not be so difficult as you might suppose. At least that way you can shout out loud and be confident that it is your voice and your voice alone .. So much more Authoritative.
Channel Stokes News gave the Beetrooter’s antics a very soft soap approach yesterday. Even Albo would have been impressed.
There’s one Herk pilot who should never have to pay for his own drink, ever again!
i think that is what people were trying to tease out of johanna
what form would this hardening up take
and how would a stoic hardening up be any more productive than “curling up in a ball”
johannas accusation boils down to one of “over emoting”
i dont think cassie denies being emotional
youd have to be made of stone to not have an emotional reaction to that savagery … and ongoing cruelty of hostage keeping
i think the dutch pride themselves on their stoicism
perhaps it is a good trait at times
but like most personality traits it has a flip side … and that is a lack of empathy
And Cassie, your brand new “pal” Chilli over at C.L.’s had this to say about you…
Nobody here is without some sin, least of all you.
……………………………………….
“A look in the mirror may do you some good, Cassie!
All I did was expose bullshit. Live with it!”
JMH, Cassie is an arse licker. She needs attention daily, hence why she loves being updicked daily. It’s her kink. Such a slut!
Notice how she hasn’t called out sancho poofta panzy aka leigh lowe or knuckle f*cker, who piled on Lizzie for years. Interesting. She craves bloke’s attention.
She talks about women being bitches. She is the biggest bitch out there. She has no filter. No husband. No child. She has major mental health issues.
What is worse than a left wing Karen? A right wing one, who bangs on and on about shit she has no lived experience of.
If I’m such a coward I may as well be a “snitch” also. In for a penny, in for a pound. And that isn’t the worst she’s said about you by a country mile. She’s said worse about me.
This is your co-religionist. She’ll see you there on the 18th you know.
No doubt she’ll disappear the rest of the hate thread. Because she’s so feisty and brave.
I had to repost this because I missed the expletives.
I certainly wouldn’t put it like that, as if the Jewish community should tolerate what’s happened and the people responsible. That is dangerous. Along that line I’ve raise Popper’s paradox of tolerance here several times.
But the Jewish community and those who support them, including the Christians who’ve been organising rallies to express such support, need to fight back with any means available.
I believe the NSW government, and by extension the Australian government, which is responsible for our compliance with international treaties and covenants, is in clear contravention of the Genocide Convention (which quite logically begins with outlawing calls for genocide, not just the act itself).
I’m well out of it, I’m afraid, but there are surely smarter people than me who can be availed upon to pursue this avenue by whatever means are available and, by doing so, embarrass the powers who are responsible for protecting citizens into taking action.
Cassie
I don’t watch Outsiders, but from what you describe, there seems to be clear evidence of, at the absolute least, that smarmy term “hate speech”, and probably sufficient to claim incitement. Will Daniel L be referring the video material to the NSW rozzers, and/or the AFP?
Or might it be better to put in onto the web, with plenty of media releases to prevent its being sent down the memory hole?
Time to get on the front foot.

The comments stand or fall on their own merit.
Who is “Chilli”?
calli at 8:27
wtf
that got through at cl’s blog?
is he on holidays
You’re at C.L.’s blog. You work it out.
For the many, many millions of supporters of those Mighty Reds across the planet … 🙂
I think your copying and pasting stands on its own merit.
I’ve been to C.L.’s blog (I go everyday) and there’s no JMH there.
I don’t lick arses either.
No, Sancho. The Furniture Store where they never visit here except when they do.
The men over there all have a LOL at her disgusting commentary and character assassinations. Bloody hypocrites.
Are you talking about the freedomfurniture site?
I don’t read it.
chilli needs to put down the glass bbq.
Here ya go Cass.
Be careful. It will hurt you. But you are tough.
Lizzie,
Just to be very clear there was zero applause. Unless of course you use the obviously gamed ticking in those few very early hours as your evidence.
“She has managed to harass a Jewish woman off this site by her selfish doubling down demands, revelling in applause of her ‘toughness’. Well done? I don’t think so”.
I think KD’s point here is very relevant :
“If you could name one commenter here at present – just one, except for Bolton – who is not at least nominally pro-Israel and IDF it would be appreciated, because I can’t think of one”.
Cassie has had and will continue to have support from pretty much everybody on this blog. Just because Johanna made a few very nasty comments towards Cassie does not lessen the support Cassie has here.
Both you and Cassie should bear that in mind when commenting upon Johannas behaviour.
The freedomfurniture site is not C.L.’s site.
Protein! Yum!
As opposed to a Strat, Cats! 🙂
Okay Cassie. Be deliberately obtuse because you are determined not to “like” me. Give her time to delete it all.
What you don’t see won’t hurt you. Or enlighten you.
So ? One way or another there is a source of opinion called the Greyzone .. as I made apparent earlier. they might be right ..they might be wrong. If they are wrong surely you folks could counter such contentions as they make ,easily ..

Admiral, former Phantom pilot ZK2A, never flown a C130 prior to prepping for that exercise. The idea now being explored is to use modern transport aircraft loaded with crates of long range cruise missiles released to create a saturation missile attack(Rapid Dragon). That is addressed latter in the video. This strategy confers a huge advantage because most fighters can carry 2-4 cruise missiles and that makes them slow, fuel hungry, and range limited.
One can only assume a tired and emotional politician on the streets of Canberra (albeit literally) on a Thursday night is not a particularly newsworthy event.
oh right
just reading back
as far as i could tell that has just degenerated into a whole lot of cut and paste of letters to the editor from hillbilly queensssland newspapers
Thanks Sancho. I’m glad you don’t have my back.
Only a little bit of blood. They’re herbivores so their teeth aren’t sharp. I avoid their claws though: razors.
LOL – CL has wielded the BanHammer.
As Sherlock Holmes used to say, the clue often is the dog that does not bark.

Actually Chilli does comment on CL’s site.
Can’t remember what thread it was, but.
Too much emotion is not a good thing.
Unless Bear, they’re an alleged conservative. Then funnily enough, it still doesn’t seem to be all that newswoithy.
Some mighty moments of Beetrooting …
Brought to you by the Blood Pressure Foundation of Venezdrayliastan …
You’re quite right. Some I read and listen to carefully, others I skim and post because I think they might be of interest. Like many others here, I suspect.
Never mind guys. I knew I was on a hiding to nothing.
PS,
Posting my last comment took 1 minute 13 seconds, so much for ticking slowing the site down, or lack of it speeds it up.
Speaking of which, after reading all the explanations how it can be done, I tend to think that there are a few absolute morons if it is real.
Who, in his or her right mind would do that?
I have seen many ups and many downs, to my recollection most were content based.
Take no notice of the stoushers, that is an outlier.
That Opera House footage. Bloody hell, what Sydney has become. Proud of that Tony Burke?
This just keeps getting better and better. If only she flips out and spills her guts about a fat weirdo in France and his burgeoning girlfriend and any other conspirators to falsifying evidence. No, I don’t have any compunction in saying this; I’ve read the Moller Memo.
Can we move on without the drama of who upticked/downticked who some days/weeks ago? Or who, supposedly, drove who from the site with fake ‘ticks’?
Its all getting beyond tedious and nobody has a right to post here with just the content and reactions that they allow. if thats what people need for their own mental stability then run your own personal blog and allow only those who make you feel nice.
On the site – looking forward to DB’s experimentations and threaded content might be an improvement compared to the current mixup unithread.
calli, I had a look. Yes, it’s unpleasant and nasty, really nasty, directed mainly at you and me. I suppose we should be flattered.
My suggestion is to not read it. It’s odd that someone is so fixated. I feel for her or him, although I suspect it’s a ‘her’.
Did you say that JMH comments there? Odd considering JMH is so obsessed about the tone of this blog and likes to target JC. If that is the case then JMH is a hypocrite.
Don’t read it, calli. I don’t and won’t. I suspect it would be healthier to walk naked through a Sydney sewer.
