All this talk about lower voter turnout for the Dems compared to 2020 can just as equally be explained as fake turnout that occurred then, but not now.

Afterall, if voting for the first black, man President was a compelling reason, then the first black, lady President is a lot more compelling a reason to actually vote than what Biden represented, for those who would be motivated for that sort of thing. Especially if they weren’t worried about getting the covid this time around.

So the Rising Tide blockade of Newcastle harbour will go ahead regardless of a Supreme Court injunction against it:

They were confronted by the fact that Trump’s pitch to the American people, built on his dark and lie-packed vision of a country in terminal decline, “swamped” by murdering “illegal aliens”, and on the point of a communist takeover, had prevailed

Cry more, it just makes my genitals more engorged…

Harris’s aborted victory party, followed by a delayed concession speech, bore chilling echoes with Hillary Clinton’s painful experience in 2016. For the second time in eight years, a woman had failed to break through the “highest, hardest glass ceiling” to become America’s first female president – thwarted by a man who campaigned against them in the most disparaging terms.

What is a woman??

Trump’s victory also came five days before world leaders gather in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the Cop29 climate summit at which they will attempt to forge a deal in which rich nations help the developing world avoid fossil fuel-powered growth. Trump’s mantra of “drill, baby, drill”, and his warning that he will pull the US out of the Paris agreement for a second time, now hang ominously over the proceedings.

Vision blurring… all .blood ..in genitals..

He has pledged to smash the US government as we know it, firing hundreds of thousands of civil servants and replacing them with “yes” people. He has threatened to carry out the largest mass deportation of undocumented immigrants in US history – amounting to many millions. He has vowed to end the independence of the US justice department, and pursue prosecutions of his political enemies while eradicating the federal cases against himself.

Fascinating that there hasn’t been a 2016 style explosion.

No blatant violence, no pompous moronic actors squarking, no pussy hats, no threats, no national pilgrimages, no Bob, no George.

Could the Left have burned themselves out?

Hopefully not. We need a reason for Trump to crush them.

A while back, Peter Fitzsimian declared on Twitter that the 58000 residents of Springfield Ohio wanted the 10000+ Haitian immigrations. They were delighted to have them in effect. But, somehow, the County went heavy for Trump, the Congressional seat went heavily Republican, and the state of Ohio went for Trump/Vance.

These Springfield folks seem entirely ungrateful, not rewarding Kamal for her largesse.

I’ve heard them around the carport and front verandah this year but unable to see the nest.
This morning, I opened the front door to see two newly hatched babies sitting on the railings. They look ridiculous – long skinny legs on minute bodies.

Chris Kenny: Trump is crass, disrespectful and sometimes goes too far …

Did he jail anyone for walking in or around the Capitol? Did he appoint any extreme left judges who seem to take pleasure in helping to make lawfare against political opponents ok, or did he fund any DAs that promised to “get” a political opponent. Did he sell off the strategic oil reserve unnecessarily, or cancel the Keystone pipeline?
Did he strengthen or weaken the military in a period when they may be required to be at their best levels?
Did he weaponise the IRS, DOJ, FBI and CIA?

Chris Kenny: The Biden Harris administration “lost control” of the border.
No, Chris, it was deliberate. Biden and Mayorkas years ago were in a video saying they thought open borders were a good idea. The policies that we saw implemented support that.

Kamala only won the states that had no voter ID…

Election integrity is under the spotlight, and Americans are rightfully questioning whether certain states remain blue because of inadequate voting security. The contrast between red states with stringent ID laws and those without can’t be ignored.

Would the outcome change if we had ironclad systems: 100% paper ballots, 0% electronic interference, and strict voter ID checks?

“He who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity… will dwell on the heights; his refuge will be the fortress of rocks.” [Isaiah 33:15-16]

How would stronger ID laws affect public trust in our electoral system? Would you feel more secure about the results?

My eldest son, who is Gen X and mildly autistic, texted today to share his delight that Trump has won. He reckons Trump speaks for Gen X. This son of mine has moved a long way politically from the left Marxism of his father (my ex) and of his sometime partner (who is American) and with whom he has a son (who is autistic). He’s over at the sometime partner’s separate residence today helping her with their son, but says privately in his text that he is finding her TDS quite hard to take. She’s not been at all well lately, so I advise him to keep his enthusiasm to himself just for the present.

So many of us with families are confronted with similar issues. When to state one’s beliefs firmly, and when to back off a little for the sake of harmony.

The Gruniad knows the binary paradigm (the word still has its original meaning – unlike ‘woman’) is nonsense, but the benightedly low-forehead right-wing people believe in it.

The elevated souls at Teh Gruniad, weighed down by theatrically ostentatious earnestness and mental constipation, despise those right-wing meat-eating rubes not only for their opinions, but even moreso for their opinions.

Its like they are competing to perform the most oestrogen drenched parody of a hysterical wench they can.

If Donald Trump’s previous administration taught us anything, it’s that women’s bodies do not matter. The autonomy of those bodies, the frequent injustices and abuses inflicted on them, are of little consequence to a far-right misogynist administration that is – unbelievably to some – back in power after an all too brief period of reprieve, if not change. Women’s bodies are also of little consequence to the people who voted for Donald Trump.

Just on Fitzsimons – the mong who shacks up with the reptile. Who pretends he’s an author. You know, the bloke the French rugby team bashed the shit out of while his teammates cheered them on.

I’m not saying I’ve got anything against Peter FitzSimons. I’m just saying that watching the footage of him getting absolutely towelled by the French makes me want to stand up and sing the Marseillaise. He knows about as much as fighting as he does writing.

Plenty of Monday morning quarterbacking going on at their ABC about stuff which wasn’t so obvious two days ago.
I see Mrs Snowcone had a never-Trumper RINO on, and they were both wistfully reflecting on the era of moderate Republicans like Bush Snr, Reagan and McCain. Amazing that Bush and Reagan have morphed from literally Hitler to elder Statesmen.
And McCain? A loser who wouldn’t go quietly.
Apparently Kamal-toe ran a tip-top campaign but a 117 day campaign wasn’t enough.
She had four years exposure as VP but a rails run convention and a four month campaign with triple the budget of Trump-Hitler wasn’t enough?
Hard to explain why the more the public saw, the worse her numbers got.

The huge support that Trump gained from Hispanic voters is arguably the most serious setback ever suffered by woke identity politics. The importance of this cannot be exaggerated. In recent decades, identity politics has become an integral component of elite ideology and a means for the managerial class to retain control over society. Until this election, the politics of identity has rarely been so seriously challenged.

The BBC: Biden will invite Trump to the White House for talks on the transition, a courtesy never extended by Trump to Biden back in 2020.

Biden was ok with the mysterious 20 million dodgy votes. He later used his proxies to try to lawfare Trump out of the race and preferably into jail. Joe was always ready to condemn conservatives as domestic terrorists, then finally “garbage”.

Nothing “courteous” about ol’ Joe.

The BBC has its own ways to do a post-election meltdown, and while they are more subtle than the histrionics of the TV personalities in the USA, they are easily discernible.
Last night I heard them get Daron Acercoglu, a prominent economist, in fact a Nobel prize winner and Professor at Massachusetts MIT to comment on the comparative merits of Trump’s economic approaches versus those of Biden.
He was unequivocal in his statements that Biden’s economic policies yielded better results than Trump’s. I’ll leave it to others to determine whether the man is right or wrong, sound, or a brilliant but left leaning academic, however you have to say that the BBC can certainly pick them.

Germany to enforce national service in drastic plan as ‘stupid’ Scholz prepares for WW3 (7 Nov)

Germany’s government has given the green light to a draft law that paves the way for the return of national service. …

The Bundeswehr currently has 180,000 soldiers, which it wants to increase to 203,000 by 2031, as well as 60,000 reservists.

The aim is to reach 200,000 more reservists, which would enable Germany to swiftly expand its troops to around 460,000 in the event of war.

Under the model proposed by the German government, all men turning 18 – which is estimated to be about 300,000 in 2025 – will have to fill out a digital survey on their interest in joining the army.

Young women will also be sent the survey but are not obliged to fill out the form.

It isn’t quite conscription since call up is to be voluntary for now. But when no one actually, like, volunteers I suspect it’ll become compulsory.

I actually love the induction as an appliance
would prefer gas but that wasn’t an option

we bought a Siemens induction 4.99 years ago with a 5 year warranty and woke up about 6 weeks ago at 4am to find the cooktop brain-dead.

after much argy-bargy they accepted that replacing it under warranty was the go.

thing is they don’t make the smart model with the touchscreen anymore.
they only make a slightly dumber version of it.

they reckon they never evah had problems with our model … but they no longer make it, sell it, or have any replacement parts for it.

like it never even existed.

anyway, indoors today and the Oven Repair Man is coming at 0900 with the new but dumber replacement

In the style of that climactic scene from GoT, where a group of Night Watchmen take turns to stab Jon Snow, each man stating their reason for stabbing Snow as they each took a turn to plunge the dagger into his beating heart, this week’s thumping victory by Donald Trump, a victory of both the electoral college and popular vote, is the righteous plunging of daggers by ordinary American men and women, mainly middle and working class Americans, be they Latino, Black, White, Jew, Arab, Christians (particularly demonised conservative Christians) into the rotten beating hearts of the corrupt MSM, the anti-American academia, Hollyweird, the venal Demonrats, the Obummas, the DoJ, the WEF, UN, Iran, Hamas and it’s for four years of….

Wussiagate
Impeachment 1
Impeachment 2
Covid
the 2020 insurrection (the real insurrection)
and the endless attempts by the corrupt MSM, DNC and others to ‘get Trump’ and to ‘get’ those on the Trump train.

On Tuesday this week, the American people returned the favour, and how sweet it is.

And whilst this is trivial and shallow, you all might have seen how Trump’s splendid family assembled around him on the podium the other night, and you might have noticed the strong, fabulous, gutsy, and intelligent Trump women, from Melania to Ivanka to Tiffany to Lara, and you might have noticed how ALL these Trump women are drop dead gorgeous and each one could grace a fashion magazine, you know, like Vogue or Elle.

If anything shows just how corrupt and base the US media has become, American Vogue is perhaps one of the most rotten and venally corrupt of them all, under the absolutely tortured control of the hideous, freakish, nightmarish, far-left vampire Anna Wintour. Wintour has used her stewardship of Vogue USA to push her far-left politics. I know, it’s bizarre, a magazine pushing far-left radical woke politics and high end expensive fashion. It’s precisely this kind of hypocrisy that makes me yearn for a good old fashioned revolution to deal with such elite scum.

But I digress, the long tradition by American Vogue is for a new FLOTUS to be given both a splashy spread in the magazine and be put on the cover. Jill Biden got a cover back in early 2021, and since then Jill has graced the cover once or twice more. And before Mrs Biden, the utterly repulsive Michelle Obumma was given more than a few Vogue covers.

But there’s one FLOTUS who was never put on the cover, yes that’s right…Mrs Trump, Melania Trump, the former top fashion model, the former super model. American Vogue under Wintour refused to put Melania on the cover of Vogue whilst she was FLOTUS. Why? Because she was and is married to Donald Trump. In 2021, after she’d left the WH, Melania Trump said……

Vogue is “biased,”: “They have likes and dislikes, and it’s so obvious.”

“I think American people and everyone sees it,”. “It was their decision, and I have much more important things to do, and I did in the White House than being on the cover of Vogue.”

True, but principles are always important, consistency is always important, fairness is always important and being unbiased is always important. But Melania is having the last laugh, the American people are having the last laugh and this week Americans, on behalf of Melania, also plunged a dagger deep into the putrid calcified heart of the vile Anna Wintour and her rotten shallow magazine.

I suspect Melania Trump is smiling and what a gorgeous smile she has.

Today’s Tele:

FOLLOW THE DONALD AND MAKE AUSTRALIA GREAT AGAIN

TIM BLAIR
8 Nov 2024

Donald Trump has changed the way politics works.

He has proved that conventional assessments of electoral risk and gain no longer apply.

Trump has done this by taking his ideas straight to voters rather than filtering them through focus groups or committees, or by depending on endorsements from elite media.

His stunningly successful 2024 election campaign provides dramatic evidence that old-fashioned direct democracy is an awesome force.

No easily intimidated, safety-first, climate-frightened politician – which these days is almost every politician on earth – would ever call for, as Trump did at his Republican National Convention in July, hugely expanded fossil fuel mining.

“I will lower the cost of energy,” Trump said. “We will drill, baby, drill.”

For that, Trump was pilloried by all the usual media nancies.

But so what? He’s already been vilified for nearly a decade throughout the US and internationally as a Nazi, a fascist, a rapist, an appeaser of tyrants and a threat to planetary survival.

And none of it mattered. All of the hysteria from the tradition leftist media and from leftist social media – to be clear, they often overlap – didn’t matter at all.

Donald J. Trump’s re-election as US president is proof that nanny state screamers and their craven press enablers have lost their power.

They went all in on Trump and got absolutely smashed. They were beaten by a guy armed only with a glow tan and a brilliant idea: That regulatory tyranny and the imposition of elite cultural attitudes are poisonous to a free people.

Which brings us to Australia, where we are absolutely dominated by excessive regulations and can’t make a joke without being binned.

Anthony Albanese has previously said that Trump “scares the shit out of me”. He’s right to be scared. In fact, Albanese’s entire party and the global leftist bureaucracy should be scared.

Modern leftist power is based on myths and lies. It is dependent on perverse weather beliefs, psychologically corrupting racial and cultural theories and witless anti-Western self-loathing.

Very conveniently for our leftist friends, all of these things somehow always end up requiring bigger and more intrusive government.

That’s the dull, grey, suffocating, tax-dependent and obscenely overpaid world of Albo and his crew. They are exactly of a piece with the Washington DC swamp dwellers Trump has vowed to remove.

(Speaking of whom, pro-Trump US tech guy Bill D’Agostino made a wonderful observation and a wonderful video to go with it: “When you use AI to replace every mention of ‘our democracy’ with ‘our bureaucracy’, everything starts to make a lot more sense.”)

The opportunity for Liberal leader Peter Dutton is to run with Trump’s momentum. Why only aim for nuclear power when Australia is rich to bursting with every other proven and cheap energy source?

Trump rightly boasts of his own nation’s extraordinary underground wealth, which he seeks to liberate during his belated second term: “We have more liquid gold – oil and gas – we have more liquid gold than any country in the world.”

We need to join this ride. To hell with the scolds and the wimps, the haters and the losers.

Drill, Australia, drill.

Why?
Well, a bunch of Dimocrat bureaucrats started badgering them over selling unpasteurised milk. This had nothing to do with food standards and everything to do with harassment of conservative Christians.
The test would be to ask how much investigation these food standards Nazis have done into the backyard slaughter of goats by another demographic.

Biden will invite Trump to the White House for talks on the transition, a courtesy never extended by Trump to Biden back in 2020.

In 2020, Covid was still the New Hotness, perhaps the BBC has forgotten. In addition there were waves of reports of voting irregularities to sift through, and possibilities that those irregularities had swung the vote and could be remedied by legal means. Despite the clearly (now) bogus “popular” vote, key counties swung the college by small margins.

No one, even now, wants to got there. Hopefully the new administration can clear the deck and give the American people what they deserve – free and fair elections with proper scrutiny at the polling booth.

Casting my mind back to 2020, the place had erupted in turmoil, with Antifa running riot, the BLM goons race baiting, every rent a crowd of malcontents making like impossible for normal working people. Murder and mayhem, arson, civil disorder.

As for Biden playing “nice” and wanting to tone down the rhetoric – what actually happened during this campaign? Trump got shot, and one man sitting behind him died.

As for the transition and recalling 2016, Trump might like to start with surly White House staff. Out with the old and in with the new.

Bad Penny gets her chance to squirm today.

‘Prepared to trash alliances’: Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s damning assessment of Donald Trump resurfaces (Sky News, 7 Nov)

Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s resurfaced assessment of United States President-elect Donald Trump appears set to generate further scrutiny over how the Albanese government will navigate one of the nation’s most important international relationships. …

In Australia, the Albanese government has already faced scrutiny over US Ambassador Kevin Rudd’s previous comments about Trump, including suggestions the President-elect was a “traitor”.

…the Foreign Minister divulged her own, frank, assessment of Trump. “We’ve seen somebody – a leader – in recent times who was prepared to trash alliances and partnerships for personal political interest and his name was Donald Trump,” she said.

Fortunately for these people they’re likely to lose the upcoming election, so the damage will not be too bad.

The Paywallion yesterday:

The Mocker: Prime Minister Anthony Albanese just a working (business) class man
The Mocker
7 Nov 2024

Working hard on getting upgrades
He loves the front end of the plane
A father/son in this carry-on
Hey Albo please explain
‘Cause it don’t seem to me you’re a working-class man
Well he insists ‘Hey, I’m a houseo’
He’s a legend in his mind
He talks of his privations
With his first-class seat reclined
Moët, canapes for this working-class man.
Believes in flying often
He gets out when he can
He never flies in economy
He just rings his mate Alan
He’s a shallow and entitled man
Always putting out his hand
So – he’s no working-class man
Well he loves his little woman
Someday he’ll make his wife
And together with his young bloke
They have the Chairman’s Lounge for life
He ain’t worried about fare prices
Because he just made up his mind
A sweetheart deal means he will forever
Travel first-class for a dime
Oh, oh, oh, oh, there’s your working-class man
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
He’ll tell you he’s a working-class man!

Apropos of Albo – have you ever called former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce personally to seek an upgrade for your flights? It would take most of us around two seconds to reply. But for Anthony Albanese, it is a most complex question.

Actually, I would go further and say in Albanese’s case it is one of the most complicated questions he has ever faced. In terms of complexity it is up there with “Have you ever won an Olympic gold medal” or “Did you ever go on a date with Christie Brinkley” or “Have you ever done a swan dive from the Empire State Building”.

But as Albanese would tell you, he is not afraid of the big questions. He just prefers the media ask him sensible ones related to his line of work as he sees it. You know, something like “What is Toto’s favourite snack” or “How did it feel when you discovered your chip packet had more air than crisps”.

Speaking last week in Newcastle, he refused to share his expertise in airfare alchemy. That was a pity, because as someone who has no love for cattle class, I was eager to hear how he managed to bag at least 22 free upgrades on economy tickets when he held the transport portfolio. Was it because Joyce is fundamentally decent, kind, and generous? Had Albanese woken one morning to find first-class tickets in the bottom of his Christmas stocking? Or did he earn these upgrades by scrubbing down Qantas A380 windshields in between parliamentary sittings?

Asked whether he had prevailed upon Joyce, Albanese was both erratic and evasive. He lashed out at Peter Dutton, claiming the Opposition Leader was targeting his family. He carried on with endless whataboutism. He even attacked former Fin Review journalist Joe Aston, author of The Chairman’s Lounge: The Inside Story of How Qantas Sold Us Out and source of these allegations. Typical to form, Albanese did everything except answer the question.

At that time of that unedifying display, three days had passed since the Sydney Morning Herald had run with Aston’s exposé. You would think Albanese would have been across at least some of the details by the time of that press conference.

But instead he committed a major howler in insinuating Aston had failed to declare to his readers that he was a former Liberal staffer and that he had worked for Qantas. Taking to social media, an exasperated Aston pointed out he had disclosed both in the first line of the book’s first page. Even someone with Albanese’s attention span should have picked that up.

It took nearly a week for Albanese – this time through a spokesperson – to say in a carefully worded statement he “did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade,” thus kicking off a game of 20 questions.

As recently as this Monday, he was dancing around questions as to whether any of his office staff had sought upgrades from Qantas on his behalf. Given the length of Albanese’s nose, you could be excused for thinking the Concorde had been resurrected.

We need not worry though, at least according to Albanese. As he has anxiously and repeatedly insisted, he has declared every single one of these upgrades. No problem then, right?

Wrong. Merely declaring these ‘gifts’ does not absolve a minister of their responsibility to avoid conflicts of interest, whether real or apparent, in the first place. While some of these situations cannot be avoided, they must still be managed in a transparent and acceptable manner.

But instead of taking steps to minimise the potential for conflicts of interest, Albanese did the opposite. It was not a case of his reluctantly accepting upgrades but rather wallowing in them. Forget the pub test and think instead the public office test. It is one he has failed and badly at that.

Take several examples from when Albanese was transport minister, a portfolio which included responsibility for regulating the airline industry, in the Rudd and Gillard governments. July 2009: upgrade to business class from Qantas on Sydney to Los Angeles return flights. April 2010: “ticket upgrade” for Albanese and son on Sydney to Rome return flights on Emirates. July 2011: Albanese “accepted upgrades from Emirates travelling unofficially to and from Europe”. December 2012: upgraded to Qantas business class on the Honolulu to Sydney flight.

The above examples involved personal travel. As Aston dryly notes, “It would be a safe presumption that he [Albanese] paid for an economy ticket in the full knowledge he would never have to set foot in that unholy cabin”.

To think at the time Albanese, in real terms, was on a taxpayer-funded salary of $400k. His then wife, Carmel Tebbutt, was NSW deputy premier for much of that period and paid the equivalent of $350k a year. For Albanese to hoover up freebies in those circumstances was, at the very least, the behaviour of a bludger.

And contrary to his claims, Albanese was not open and transparent in disclosing benefits. For example, he neglected in some cases to detail the type of upgrade, an omission that all but confirms he leapfrogged straight from economy to first-class. Neither did he disclose that Joyce, allegedly at Albanese’s request last year, had provided his son Nathan with Chairman’s Lounge membership.

One of the many unanswered questions in Qantas’s duchessing of Albanese concerns his government’s kyboshing last year of an application by Qatar Airways to double its weekly flights to Australia’s four major cities.

At the time of Qatar’s application in 2022, its competitor Qantas had slashed its number of post-Covid flights while charging Australians exorbitant prices for existing (and as it turned out non-existing) ones. Naturally, Qantas did not welcome Qatar’s application. But as Aston details, the Department of Infrastructure and Transport supported the proposal, as did Trade Minister Don Farrell and (initially) Transport Minister Catherine King. Why she later did a volte-face has never been explained satisfactorily.

Asked in parliament in September 2023 whether he or his office had provided “any direction, information or advice” to King to block the application, Albanese responded with his customary weasel words.

“This was a decision to change nothing that occurred, and one of the things that I do, as Prime Minister, is not appoint myself to other jobs,” he said. “I trust my ministers to make decisions.”

Initially, according to King, ‘her’ decision to block Qatar’s application was in the “national interest”. Presumably, it is also in the national interest to reward Qantas or more specifically Joyce, whether it be for price gouging passengers, depriving of them their entitlements through labyrinthine processes, sacking thousands of workers unlawfully, and treating Australians with contempt.

Admittedly that decision was detrimental for thousands of would-be travellers, many of whom are flat out paying for a ticket in economy, let alone one at the pointy end of the plane. But let us not forget priorities, people. It is in the national interest for the prime ministerial tush to be resting comfortably on a first-class cushion when his nibs is holidaying.

Designer bedding, gourmet dining, fine wines, luxury toiletries, the thrill of exclusivity and hobnobbing it with the rich and famous – bring it on. But as Albanese has belatedly discovered, it includes everything except a parachute.

On Nov 6th, she said her “data” couldn’t account for all the racism and misogyny which is why Harris lost

Youtube currenty has up a video of one of the more viscious White House press conferences of Trump’s first presidency.

It is timely. We have all forgotten the arrogant, sneering, threatening behaviour of those press animals.

The Press Secretaries were heroes. Both McEnany and especially Sanders must be quivering in anticipation of payback.

I may be wrong but I feel that that era is gone. The MSM no longer have the capacity or public support to undertake a continuous coup. Sure, NYT and Warpo will try but they are now yesterday’s people. The most they achieve is to provide talking points for other irrelevant commentators.

pro-Trump US tech guy Bill D’Agostino made a wonderful observation and a wonderful video to go with it: “When you use AI to replace every mention of ‘our democracy’ with ‘our bureaucracy’, everything starts to make a lot more sense.”

I saw that and it was absolutely brilliant as those people had no problem with actual fascism on their side. The fun factor was a bonus.

The same trick should be applied to all those people who spout “my democracy” or “my truth”. For truth just swap in “my lies”. Actually the “my truth” canard is not used as much as it had been. Has it fallen out of favour for something else? Is “my democracy” that other thing?

Donald Trump ‘acted like a man’, says Putin

0:00 I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate him 0:02 on being elected as President 0:03 of the United States of America. I’ve already said 0:05 that we will work with any head of state 0:09 whom the American people trust. That will indeed 0:11 be true in practice as well. You know, 0:13 you can view him in any way you want. 0:15 In his first presidential term, 0:17 many initially said he was mainly 0:20 a businessman, and didn’t understand much 0:22 about politics and might make mistakes. 0:26 Well, first of all, I can tell you that his 0:30 behavior during the attempt on his life 0:33 left an impression on me. I don’t know, but 0:36 to me, it showed he’s a courageous person. 0:39 It’s not only 0:45 about the raised hand and the call to fight 0:48 for their shared ideals. It’s not only that, 0:51 although that’s certainly striking. 1:00 Under extraordinary circumstances, 1:04 this is where a person shows their true self, and he did. 1:06 In my view, he responded in a very 1:10 appropriate way, 1:11 courageously, like a man deserving of trust.

From Cassie’s excellent post at 7.35am:

[Anna] Wintour has used her stewardship of Vogue USA to push her far-left politics. I know, it’s bizarre, a magazine pushing far-left radical woke politics and high end expensive fashion.

It’s not a bizarre observation at all. Leftism is a fashion, a rigidly enforced groupthink from which no-one is allowed to dissent and from which dissenters are expelled.

Leftism is fashion for fascists.

Lefties live and die by how fashionable they are and their preoccupation is how others see them – hence all the virtue-signalling.

You see it everywhere – from the online groupthink to the virtue-signallers driving their little Tesla golf carts.

They’re so much better than you and laughing at them triggers an explosion of rage.

All you have to do to be a lefty is to think like all the other lefties – with an implied threat of violence against dissenters.

That is why lefties hate freedom: it is an affront to the inner fascist that every lefty grooms like a large black cat.

I’m usually a bit slow on the uptake, so apologies to Cats that already know.

When I was a teenager, I started to read a book. I got distracted and didn’t get far into it. Now, about 40 years later, I’ve nearly finished it (a few pages to go).

I read something in the book that may have some significance to our blog master.

It is a poem titled, “Dover Beach,” by Matthew Arnold and read out by the hero, Guy Montag.

Sci-fi Cats would probably already know the book and its sad but apt parallels with the world today: “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury.

I’ll leave it to Dover to agree or disagree, or indeed to not respond at all.

But in his honour, for running a free-speech blog, here is the poem:

Dover BeachBy Matthew Arnold
The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.
Come to the window, sweet is the night-air!
Only, from the long line of spray
Where the sea meets the moon-blanched land,
Listen! you hear the grating roar
Of pebbles which the waves draw back, and fling,
At their return, up the high strand,
Begin, and cease, and then again begin,
With tremulous cadence slow, and bring
The eternal note of sadness in.

Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Ægean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.

The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.

Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.

In light of the Misinformation Bill, this is apt.

Thanks for the blog Dover.

See some chat above about induction stove tops and oven repairs.

Leads me to say beware of modern appliances. Our Miele dishwasher carked it recently, just out of warranty. Mr. Miele arrived to see what was wrong, didn’t touch the innards, simply got out his computer and .. get this … logged on to our dishwasher!!! He did some adjustments via his computer talking to this recalcitrant machine, and told us it should be fixed now, if not, well, two thousand bucks would get us a new one.

Erk.

It wouldn’t work for the first go we had with it after The Man had gone. Both fed up, we left it flashing its previous ‘in distress’ code numbers. Lo and behold, two hours later it had sorted itself out computer-wise and it was merrilly washing dishes like a new dishwasher. Hmm.

Elon Musk’s estranged trans daughter has vowed to leave the United States following president-elect Donald Trump’s historic win.

Vivian Jenna Wilson, 20, cut ties with father in 2022, when she filed a petition to change her gender, as well as her name, which she hoped would sever any connection between herself and her biological father.

Now, she wants to cut ties with the US after Mr Trump’s re-election, in which her father was instrumental.

“I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future being in the United States,” Wilson wrote on Threads after Trump’s win. (She doesn’t use X)

“Even if he’s only in office for 4 years, even if the anti-trans regulations magically don’t happen, the people who willingly voted this in are not going anywhere anytime soon,” she added.

Wilson is one of six children Musk, 53, shares with his first wife, Justine Wilson.

Vivian previously accused Musk of being an absent parent who did not acknowledge her gender identity.

Musk blamed “neo-Marxists” at elite private schools and universities for his estranged relationship with his daughter.

In a conversation with biographer Walter Isaacson, Musk said, “She went beyond socialism to being a full communist and thinking that anyone rich is evil.”

What would Donald do?

Quite so. You might have all forgotten how, in the aftermath of the January 6 riot, Labor and the left in this country seized on the opportunity to smear, ridicule and pummel ScoMo and the Liberals over their associations with Trump. ScoMo and the Liberals, instead of putting on their boxing gloves, instead chose to cower in the corner to avoid any association with the Donald in the hours, days and weeks following the riot. Labor and its whores on social media ran ‘riot’ with pictures of ScoMo and Trump, trying to infer that ScoMo was, like his buddy, a far-right, extremist, Nazi, insurrectionist.

And here’s what I did, I actually rang Liberal Party HQ to offer some advice to them, I asked why they weren’t counteracting this bulldust and circulating pictures of Anthony Albanese with his good mate, the Jew hater Jeremy Corbyn? There was silence from the person at the other end of the phone.

The Liberals couldn’t fight their way out of a kindergarten.
