“Russia to switch gas invoicing to roubles for European buyers “

A cunning plan, my Lord!
Arrange for payment in roubles when the currency is in the gutter, then negotiate a peace settlement, have the rouble go back up and screw over the sanctioners.
Noice.
And he doesn’t lose out no matter what happens because all his costs are in roubles.
Double noice.

I get very tired of seeing Labor pollies like Albanese (just now) – poncing around in hi-viz pretending to be the wukkas best mate.
Job creation flows from things like mining, building dams, power stations – none of which seem to have wholehearted support from either Lib or Lab.

Given Ketanji’s inability to define a woman I think the Cat should generate an all purpose definition and send it off to her. It’s the least we can do. To start with I think we should begin with breasts, that is a woman has natural breasts. A woman may accentuate those breasts surgically or chemically but she has breasts to begin with.

So the list of characteristics defining a woman we can begin with:

1 Natural breasts.

So what other suggestions do folks have?

The Destination of the Handbasket
March 23, 2022 | Sundance | 289 Comments

A promoted video from the BlackRock investment group delivers a single point amid a multitude of points that may help clarify exactly where this handbasket is heading.

Notice, the key phrase right at the beginning of this promotional video, “many prize experiences above possessions.” Compare that statement to, “you will own nothing and be happy.” Notice the similarity?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbIITBzSN-Q

BlackRock and the ever-mysterious Vanguard are the largest financial institutions in the world, with investment assets under management that far exceed the GDP of every country. They are, quite frankly, the vault behind the World Economic Forum, and combined they hold sway in almost everything that happens in the geopolitical world.

As we look at the speed of our increasingly changing world, it is important to remember two key phrases CTH often repeats. First, ‘there are trillions at stake’, and second, ‘everything that happens is about the economics.’

If we stand back and look at the activity, not the expressed ideological framework, but the actual reality of what BlackRock is doing – amid a world where they are purchasing physical assets at an astonishing rate – something does become clearer.

I think after no 3. it’s pretty much over for the compulsion side. I think we’re done. It’s just my view. No biggie.

Apparently voluntary uptake of no. 3 is very slow in Victoria, so Maximum Leader is unlikely to introduce a comprehensive mandate for no.3 soon, let alone no. 4.
All that will change, though, if the polling shows there are enough worried voters wanting everyone else jabbed 4, 5, 6 or 7 times.
In any case he’s also highly unlikely to revoke restrictions on the unvaxxed, since there’s no apparent political benefit for him in doing so.
And mandates for specific jobs may well stay.

Gonzalo Lira is an American writer and filmmaker, born to Chilean immigrants to the US. Right now he lives in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and reports every day on what’s going on in the city and the rest of the country. In this interview we talk about arrogant Swedes who call themselves a humanitarian superpower, and about the criminal Chileans that came to Sweden in the 1970’s – missed by no one in Chile.
We also cover the situation in Ukraine, why Russia will inevitably win the war and the prospect of Ukraine splitting into several countries when all is over.

‘I don’t think we’ve gained anything’ – Cardinal Pell on the Vatican and China
21 March 2022,

[Podcast Interview] https://www.spectator.co.uk/podcast/-i-don-t-think-we-ve-gained-anything-cardinal-pell-on-the-vatican-and-china

Cardinal George Pell has given a wide-ranging interview to The Spectator’s Holy Smoke podcast in which he criticises the Vatican’s 2018 deal with Beijing and especially the secrecy surrounding it.

The unpublished pact allows the Chinese Communist Party to choose Catholic bishops, whose appointments are then rubber-stamped by Pope Francis. ‘I know high-up people in the Vatican are very dissatisfied with the way things are going,’ says Pell, the former Vatican Prefect for the Economy.

‘The agreement is there to try to get a bit of space for the Catholics. Obviously that’s praiseworthy. [But] I don’t think we’ve gained anything. The persecutions seem to be continuing. In some places they’ve got worse.’ Nobody ‘outside a small circle’ knows the details of the agreement, ‘which seems to me to be quite irregular.’

The cardinal was imprisoned in his native Australia on trumped-up sex charges before being acquitted by the country’s High Court. It is widely believed that his enemies in the Vatican played a part in framing him. In the interview, Pell doesn’t discuss his own ordeal – but he does express concern at the lack of transparency in the ongoing Vatican trial of Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the Pope’s former chief of staff, and his associates, who are accused of committing large-sale fraud.

While affirming his loyalty to Pope Francis, Pell also makes clear his unhappiness with the sudden move last year to restrict celebrations of the traditional Latin Mass. ‘I think it was a most unfortunate decision and I think a bit inexplicable, too,’ he says. But he advises traditionalists to keep calm, because there are signs that the very hard line taken by the Vatican’s liturgy chief, the Yorkshire-born Archbishop Arthur Roche, is now being reconsidered.

Last month, Pope Francis told the traditionalist Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP) that it could continue celebrating Mass and other sacraments using the old Missal, granting them a greater degree of freedom than Roche favoured. Cardinal Pell says ‘the working presumption’ should be that the clarified rights of the FSSP also extend to other traditionalist priestly fraternities, such as the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICKSP).

Former South Australian senator Nick Xenophon will run again for the federal upper house

David Penberthy
South Australian Correspondent
@penbo
41 minutes ago March 24, 2022
6 Comments

Maverick independent and former Senate powerbroker Nick Xenophon has up-ended the looming Senate race by declaring himself a candidate for the federal election.

Xenophon, who has historically commanded a huge personal vote in SA, launched his candidacy by stealth yesterday with a slick new campaign website going live at 1pm featuring the slogan “I’m back – because I give a damn”.

The website features a YouTube video in which the former balance of power senator says he has been watching politics for the past four years and can no longer resist the urge to head back to Canberra.

“For the last four years I’ve tried to be a political hermit – minding my own business and leaving it up to others to be involved in the political decisions that ultimately affect our lives, and those of our loved ones,” he says in his YouTube video.

“I can no longer sit on the sidelines. Incredibly, it’s gotten worse in Canberra. It’s nastier, full of hatred and bile that eats away at our nation’s core.

“I must come back to call them out and to speak out on the issues that need to be tackled. Why? Because I give a damn about our state’s future and our kids’ future.”

The Australian revealed late last year that Mr Xenophon was considering a return, in an interview where he quoted Al Pacino’s character Michael Corleone from The Godfather III, saying: “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”

In a statement released generally yesterday, Mr Xenophon said both the major parties had lost their way.

“So many of them are too busy doing a job on each other, rather than doing the job we’re paying them for,” he said.

“I know making a comeback won’t be easy – particularly as the Liberals and Labor don’t want me calling them out on their games.

“With an election just around the corner, my task will be massive. Effectively, I’ll be starting from scratch.

“The system is stacked against me. Even my name won’t be above the line on the Senate ballot paper. I won’t have the resources of the major parties. I won’t have their powerful donors. But what I do have is a burning passion and energy to fight for our state.”

Since leaving politics after bombing out at the 2018 SA election Mr Xenophon returned to the law and has had little involvement with the two SA Best MLCs who were his only successful candidates at the 2018 poll.

The SA Best Party crashed and burned in last Saturday’s SA poll, its vote collapsing from the 14 per cent it commanded in 2018 to just 0.2 per cent.

But in SA Xenophon’s name is a political brand in its own right, where he has been a major player in local politics since winning an Upper House spot as a “No Pokies” candidate in 1997.

He then moved to the Senate in 2007 when he announced his candidacy at the Adelaide Zoo giraffe enclosure promising to “stick my neck out for SA.”

He quit the Senate in 2017 announcing he had formed a new party, SA Best, to contest every seat in the 2018 state election.

Despite early polls showing he was on target to become Premier, Xenophon and his party failed to make the transition as a Lower House force and lost every seat amid criticisms of a lack of policy detail and a gimmicky hip-hop election jingle widely dismissed as a joke.

Mr Xenophon has spent much of the past year on a copyright case he is trying to have heard in the US Supreme Court on behalf of a battling Australian ugg boot maker against American footwear giant Dekkers.

Western Sydney boot maker Eddie Oygur was sued by Dekkers in 2016 for exporting 13 pairs of “Ugg” brand “Ugg” boots to the US, leaving him with fines of $3 million and a $1.5 million legal bill after a Chicago court found the American shoe giant had sole rights to use of the term “ugg”.

Xenophon told The Australian that the case had been pivotal in his decision to run on a platform of protecting Australian jobs and ensuring that local workers and manufacturers do not miss out under the new deal over submarines.

I went to Latin mass at a Priestly Fraternity of St Peter parish in Perpignan.
St Matthews iirc. Beautifully restored in 2017.
I looked the order up while I was there. Founded by a group of priests who broke away from the SSPX while they were still in schism and returned to the church over Le Fefebvre ordaining bishops.
Order doing very well with vocations, over 300 priests and around 150 in formation.
Plenty of Latin mass options in France, two churches in Narbonne including an SSPX parish offering them.

Postcode snobbery. Never, ever heard of it. Can there be such a thing?

Really?
Sarcasm of a fib?

Anyone coming from your families patch and a Ex-VicPol, has to know how very real it is.

Of course many who have to run away from their good Post Code and hide out as far away as they can get from all their very well healed family & friends will find some comfort in bunging on some reverse snobbery.

They also absolutely hate those with enough natural class to be invited in to improve the character & gene pool of those too long homogenised Post Codes.

You see, that’s the thing; people of Class recognise it in others and see where it’s lacking, and a Post Code won’t fog that vision either way.

Covid watch out West:

WA COVID cases rise to 8,616 as reporting of ‘historical deaths’ contributes to higher death toll

One was a woman in her 80s who had tested positive before passing away on Wednesday.

The remaining six dated back almost two weeks but were only reported to health authorities yesterday.

They include a man in his 40s, two men in their 60s, a man in his 70s and a man in his 90s.

So they all died with – not from – Covid. Just like the man in his 90s whose death was recorded as a Covid death yesterday, even though he died on the weekend. Because if they died from Covid, the authorities would know about it immediately, as they would be being treated for severe illness caused by Covid. There would be no reporting delay of up to two weeks.

ScoMo has been busily pushing people under various buses on sexual misconduct matters, but went strangely quiet on this one, simply because there is a chance that some collateral mud might stick to him.

You hope it’s just mud. Eeeew.

ScoMo today tried to avoid guilt by association when he asserted that he had no association with Hillsong church for 15 years. He made that statement despite having been at the church in recent years and once stated Brian Houston was a spiritual mentor. Houston has now resigned from the church because of claims involving sex, drugs, and alcohol. Morrison wanted Houston to be a guest with him at the White House.

The above might be what Morrison is worried about. He has made the classic mistake of lying to try and protect himself but lied in a way that is easily revealed. He’s done that a few times. I think those are brain farts, an idea that pops into his head on the fly. The cover up is more damaging than the guilt by association because most people are like me and not surprised that another Pentecostal preacher has been caught out in sexual misconduct. Like that’s news.

That’s pretty good; that’ll do. I especially like Tucker’s response to the idiot biden’s idiot SC nominee, Ketanji’s response to the question what is a woman by saying: I don’t know, I’m not a biologist. Tucker said that if she had been asked to say what is rain she would have said: I don’t know I’m not a meteorologist.

Yes. I have similar (unscientific) data from assorted friends and work colleagues. Many have had only two shots and are resisting the third until it is mandatory. Most only had the first two simply because it was that, or no job.

As an aside, a number of those friends etc are ‘certain’ they have had covid in the past few months (assorted symptoms/degrees of illness) and think they are now better off with natural immunity than with having another shot. Although in fairness, most are just over the whole thing and want to get on with their lives. I think that moving back into any form of lockdown or other restrictions would be a very ‘courageous’ move by any government that is within 12 months of an election. Other than the screaming Karens and dullard Kens, the populace has largely lost its appetite for restrictions.

As pointed out endlessly on the Cat, governments should not equate percentage jabbed as equalling support.

Remember, in 2015, when Britain’s Serious Fraud Office froze the bank accounts for Burisma Holdings?

– even the NY Times called out the conflict of interest in having a Vice President in charge of Ukraine relations whose son is on the board of such a corrupt company – which, as this NYT article points out – ties Hunter Biden to Mykola Zlochevsky, who was Ukraine’s ecology minister under former President Viktor F. Yanukovych before he was forced into exile.

Also on the board of Burisma was Devon Archer, who owned Rosemont Seneca Partners with Hunter Biden. Devon Archer was convicted of fraud in 2018.

> “…while then-Vice President Biden was in office, his son, Hunter, worked for Burisma and “would be paid as much as $50,000 per month.”

At the time, Burisma and its owner were under investigation by Ukraine and UK authorities. According to a report, in 2016, then Vice-President Biden threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless the Ukrainian prosecutor that was investigating Bursima was fired, which he eventually was.”

But wait, there’s more!
> “In addition, Burisma’s consulting firm, Blue Star Strategies, used Hunter Biden’s board membership to gain access to Obama administration officials at the State Department and potentially influence matter before government officials on behalf of Burisma.”

Have any of Smith’s predictions or pronouncements ever come to life? There’s your answer.

That’s not to say the woman isn’t credible. Her story is more credible than the one against the former AG. Also, shouldn’t all women be believed? It’s more or less what Lockdown Dan once suggested.

In addition much of what is claimed to have been the views of Montagnier are mendacious lies from antivaxxers.
Like this one.
back in May 2021 antivaxxers were falsely claiming that Montagnier had said ‘everyone’ who was vaccinated would die of ADE. Incidentally that ADE sure is taking its sweet time.

Correct. I obviously don’t know the basis or details of the lady’s case but my first thought was she’d be up against time limitations, which I think are 6 years in VIC. The second problem is she’d need to obtain a brief of evidence from VicPol.

Has anybody seen any Oz news articles today about NZ announcing dropping mandates yesterday ? Weird huh, almost like they did not want us to know.

Whilst I appreciate it is ‘arguing from authority’ – given Luc Monagnier won a Nobel prize for discovering HIV, it might be worth at least considering what he said?

Call me a shill and a sheep as you wish for distrusting the ‘Science’ as presented, Duk.

I am on board with the concept of original antigenic sin. And certainly to seeing the revelation of whatever hard and discomforting realities lie waiting to be exposed about Pfizer etc. and their rush to make bank with a suspect ‘solution’ to a virus that perhaps didn’t really need it.

But if Nobel Laureates are running about spouting shock statements (or having same attributed to them) really designed only to upset and frighten folks who did whatnthey had to do (be it in good faith or by coercion) and to bring attention to themselves, I’m going to be pretty contemptuous of both the message (valid or not) and messenger alike.

I think, after 2+ years of gritting my teeth and putting up with unwanted legalistic coercion and Soviet-grade doublethink based on the ejaculations of idiot panic-merchants, I’m entitled to be even mildly pissed off at anyone who tries the same antics.

Especially from the Skeptic side, who should damn well know better.

For those looking for Nobel Infallibility, there seems to be no evidence that Luc Montagnier actually said this.

We may instead be dealing with something that someone is pretty sure that Montagnier would almost certainly have said, or at least is fairly similar.

Just on this chap.
Im not opining if hes a crank or not, if he is thats unfortunate as he made a major contribution to medicine before.

“ideas supported, and comments made, by Luc Montagnier in recent years are sad and unfortunate, they do not detract from his original contributions, primarily the discovery of the HIV virus”.”

He was massively screwed over by the CDC when he was the first to isolate the AIDs virus (Pasteur institute I think).
In the spirit of colegiality he sent a sample of what he had isolated to America to another researcher who promptly had his organisation announce they had isolated the virus.
Who was boss of that organisation??

Go on guess.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-nobel-medicine-dispute-idUSTRE4957AB20081006

It turned out that Gallo was working with a sample contaminated* in Montagnier’s lab and it took years for the U.S. National Institutes of Health and France’s Institut Pasteur to agree to split the credit and the royalties.

“I think Bob made a very, very important contribution to the field of HIV by making the strongest evidence for … the virus, which was first identified by Montagnier, as the causative agent of HIV,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a telephone interview.

“It is unfortunate that the committee cannot give the award to more than three people,” Fauci added. “If they could, then I am sure Bob would have been very, very deserving.”

*Contaminated is an extraordinary bit of politeness/ bullshit. The Yanks did their damnedest to grab AIDs as their “discovery”.

More on the original feud here, it is worthy of a spy thriller, lots of skullduggery and egos.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/health/how-the-discovery-of-hiv-led-to-a-transatlantic-research-war
Soon after the Gallo papers were published, DNA analyses demonstrated that the American HIV virus and the French LAV virus were the same. What followed was a loud whisper campaign suggesting that Gallo somehow acquired the Montagnier virus by nefarious means, and used it as his own.

Matters came to a head after the development of an HIV-antibody test — a huge advance in an era where we hardly understood AIDS and doctors were not yet able to precisely identify who was at risk and who was infected. The test was created at the NIH and there were great financial rewards in the offing. But who was entitled to the patent? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Gallo) or France’s Pasteur Institute (Montagnier), or both?

To challenge the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services patent on the clinical HIV lab test, the Pasteur Institute filed a lawsuit in December 1985. The volume on this ugly war was finally dialed down in 1987 by the President Ronald Reagan and French President François Mitterrand, with a formal agreement to divide the scientific credit and patent royalties from all HIV work and the blood test that detected it.

No, I think the quote was that they may test positive for AIDS which isn’t exactly the same thing, depending on what the test looks for.
However the immune system depression is becoming a worry. In the UK they’ve had a nasty “super cold” going around and yesterday I saw an article (don’t have the URL) that said this was happening here.
It isn’t just one person saying this, it is many very well qualified people many of whom who are actively practicing medicine.

I don’t think so. He said to test for it. If there was some portion of it used in the vaccine you might test positive but it does not necessarily mean you actually have it. At least, that what I saw elsewhere when this issue was raised previously. Someone more medically inclined might like to explain. The main point is that it is now obvious that the vaccines do affect and deplete the immune system, which might lead to a similar outcome.

Messy indeed Helen.

I still don’t think the bloke will get done for murder, unless there is evidence of clear intent and a degree of premeditation proved by either admitted behaviour, or the observations of (I think) non-existent witnesses.

From a purely dispassionate standpoint he might, however, wear a manslaughter beef if any conduct, regardless of intent, which could reasonably be foreseen to go bad happens and someone dies as a result (there are provisions for recklessness and negligence in the legislation as well) is proven etc etc.

If that happens – if I was him I’d be playing the indig card for all it’s worth, because every NT fullblood who gets pissed and beats or burns his missus to death seems to get five years or less.

Kathy Sherriff is bringing a civil action against tits shorten. This is despite the wallopers in victoristan finding insufficient evidence to charge tits with rape. The issue is can a person seek civil damages based on an alleged crime which has not been proved? The case of John Fleming would suggest they can. Fleming had criminal allegations against him for historic sexual assault not proceeded with by SA wallopers. He sued for defamation media which had claimed or implied he was guilty. He failed. The court decided the claims of sexual assault were true despite the wallopers not proceeding with them. Kathy has failed in her criminal allegations but can those same latent criminal allegations sustain a civil case against tits. Kathy, based on Fleming, has to convince her claims are true and because it is a civil case the standard of proof is much lower.

Roberts-Smith had reputation for bullying a fellow soldier, Andrew Hastie tells court
Michaela Whitbourn
By Michaela Whitbourn
March 24, 2022 — 6.54pm

Assistant Defence Minister and former elite soldier Andrew Hastie has told the Federal Court that war veteran Ben Roberts-Smith had a “widespread” reputation within the Special Air Service for bullying a fellow soldier.

Giving evidence on Thursday in Mr Robert-Smith’s defamation case, Mr Hastie appeared in the witness box on Thursday and said there were “always in the background people who had a strong view of Mr Roberts-Smith and the way he conducted himself with other members” of the regiment.

Mr Hastie, a captain in the SAS between 2010 and 2015, recalled “multiple people” saying that a soldier dubbed Person 1 “was the victim of bullying at the hands of Mr Roberts-Smith”.

“One incident comes to mind, which I think demonstrates that it was a fairly widespread, prevailing view,” Mr Hastie said.

He said that in November 2012 he had just returned from Afghanistan and was sitting among a group of soldiers, dubbed Persons 6, 31 and 68, at the Bindoon Defence training area in Western Australia. The soldiers’ identity has been suppressed for national security reasons.

Seven’s Sunrise program was playing as the soldiers ate breakfast, Mr Hastie said, and “Mr Roberts-Smith appeared on the morning show in his service dress [and] full medals, and was talking about mental health charities that he was supporting”.

“Person 68 stopped for a second and said loudly so that everyone could hear, ‘RS gave Person 1 depression; now he’s going to help him fight it’, and everyone laughed,” Mr Hastie said. “Laughter was the only response, but not at the expense of Person 1.”

Person 1, who is a serving member of the SAS, has previously told the court that Mr Roberts-Smith told him if his performance did not improve he would “get a bullet in the back of the head”.

Person 1 said Mr Roberts-Smith – who was awarded Australia’s highest military honour, the Victoria Cross, in 2011 – had bullied him, including spitting on the ground in front of him and letting doors slam in his face.

Mr Hastie, a federal Liberal MP, said he recalled undertaking training with Person 1 in 2013 and he was very bright, confident and competent.

Mr Roberts-Smith is suing The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times over a series of articles in 2018 which he says accuse him of bullying a fellow soldier and committing war crimes, among other claims.

The newspapers are seeking to rely on a defence of truth and allege Mr Roberts-Smith bullied Person 1 and committed or was involved in six murders of Afghans under the control of Australian troops, when they cannot be killed under the rules of engagement.

Mr Roberts-Smith maintains he did not bully Person 1 and any killings in Afghanistan were carried out lawfully in the heat of battle.

Mr Hastie was deployed to Afghanistan in October 2012 and recalled a mission involving Mr Roberts-Smith in an area called Syahchow.

He said he had a “strong recollection” of soldiers dubbed Persons 7, 26, 66 and 4 being present, and he knew Person 66 in particular well because they had lived near each other for a time.

“We were in the ready room; I remember trying not to get in the way … and I caught the eye of Person 66. He seemed a thousand miles away and quite nervous or anxious; he didn’t really meet my eye when I said g’day,” he said.

Mr Hastie said that during the mission he saw Mr Roberts-Smith and his patrol tactically questioning a group of “10 to 15” Afghan prisoners. Person 66 was with them.

“The PUCs [persons under the control of Australian forces] were up against a wall and they were … tactically questioning them through the interpreter,” he said.

Mr Hastie said he went to another structure, before returning to observe some of the tactical questioning. He said Person 66 was “looking nervous, and I just met his eyes briefly and I just thought, that’s not the person I know, happy-go-lucky, kind of classic country Aussie”.

He said he left again, and heard on the radio “shots fired” but he didn’t hear a shot. Later, he said,“Mr Roberts-Smith walked past me … he looked me in the eye and said, ‘just a couple more dead c—s.’”

The newspapers have alleged Mr Roberts-Smith directed Person 66 to kill one of the Afghan prisoners as an exercise in “blooding” a soldier. Mr Hastie did not see that alleged incident and Person 66 has not given evidence.
