Reimagining Australia

I did a very small survey. Asked my next-door neighbour what she thought of the government giving 2,900 entry visas to Gazan Palestinians. She hadn’t caught that news. Hmm? Next I asked a chap in my club gym. He was suitably appalled. Asked another chap. He said that he agreed with the policy. He thought it was humanitarian and he deplored “fear of the other.” I was taken aback, but why? Half the parliament thinks the policy is fine, presumably. Incidentally, it is a safe bet, I think, that those who support bringing in Palestinian refugees vote left or green and voted yes in the Voice referendum.

I specifically didn’t argue the case. My fleeting interest was in getting outside of my bubble wherein the people I mix with socially are all, more or less, of one mind on the politics of the day. A fleeting interest because I like my bubble and seldom venture outside of it these days. It is bad for my digestion.

So, I will extrapolate from a very small sample. One third of voters have no information on the issue. One third love Palestinian refugees. And one third are both informed and sane.

I just wonder whether that is not too far from the truth. It is disturbing. The referendum instilled some confidence that sixty percent of people were grounded in common sense. But, of course, everybody was explicitly involved in the outcome. Everybody was informed. Immigration policy is executed by unelected bureaucrats, now under the wayward watch of Albanese, Wong and Burke, egged on by the Greens and Teals. And the Steggall-likes are more numerous than you would ever guess. They look like us so you can’t tell. In any event, no one in voter land gets a say and many simply don’t follow the issue. We are losing the country by default. In retrospect, the referendum outcome will be seen as being akin to a dead-cat bounce during a stock market rout.

By saying that we are losing the country by default, I am clearly not specifically referring to the latest influx of Palestinian refugees, but to multicultural immigration more generally. Apparently, Australia is not entitled to discriminate among would-be migrants in order to maintain social cohesion; that would be racist. And nothing will change. The powers that be, driven by God knows what, are intent on refashioning Australia. Or, ‘reimagining Australia’ is the term Kamala Harris would probably use.

We are now used to hearing from spokesmen about what their community thinks. Much more is on the way. Don’t throw up, like me, when you hear it. We are one is pure nostalgia.

“losing the country by default”.

A very appropriate term for what is going on. Hopefully the recent events in UK wake people up. Dutton is right regarding not taking Palestinians and hope the public rewards his stance at next election.

Australia is like my oft told story of the alcoholic who refuses to even consider his alcoholism.
Sometimes they have to wake up in the gutter, covered in shit, piss, vomit and blood before they admit they have a problem.
Australia is in the same position.
We will have to endure our own 7th October Rape and Murderthon before realising, far too late, that we have a disaster on our hands. And it will have to be in a privileged suburb or two – hopefully Canberra – otherwise it will be tut tutted away by the hoi polloi.

Peter, I am hoping that your small survey was not representative of thinking on this issue in the wider community. But you are right that so many are just not informed, or worse – don’t really give a damn. Are they 30% of the voting population? We will see soon enough.

But I am not unduly afraid on this issue. I think, as with the Voice, they will be actually forced in the next few months to grapple with this issue – it is going to be so “front and centre”. And that is a good thing. Dutton gives me the impression of bursting out into righteous indignation at the sheer audacity and negligence of Labor in importing possible security risks from a war torn country with an elected terrorist regime.

I believe the voters will respond positively to Dutton taking a moral commitment to an issue that threatens national security.

I believe the voters will respond positively to Dutton taking a moral commitment to an issue that threatens national security.

According to the professional pollsters, national security is a major issue for only 10% of voters at present.

That may change, of course, but outside of wartime that’s generally where it sits.

Thanks for hopping outside the bubble and taking one for the team, Peter.
I report back as others do on occasional forays made of necessity beyond my comfort zone, but in general the less I have to leave it these days, the happier I am. So your stats, such as they be, are worth contemplating. Also, we should beware of dwelling in a fool’s paradise. As the Voice showed, at least 40% of those around us are nitwits, swayed by emotions.

They look like us so you can’t tell.

err, no they don’t actually.

I can pick a sanctimonious self important hypocritical collectivist imbecile a mile off, even before they’ve opened their big fat stupid gobs, with a 91.3% success rate.

That they have zero taste, are ostentatiously crass or (invariably) both always helps. Not to mention the foul odor of smugness they give off.

Having to share a planet with them is not an ideal state of affairs.

Ask them whether they agree to giving visas to 2,900 Nazi Party members.

Same thing.

Betcha their response would be different though.

There are too many people of voting age who get their info/misinfo/disinfo via the 80% of the media who lean left – or worse.
I hope all those who insisted for years that “the media doesn’t matter” have changed their tune.

Labor loathe European Australia, especially British Australia. The Irish labor party opened up immigration after ww2 but were shocked by the admiration the immigrants from northern and Central Europe had for England.
All migrants including the Vietnamese did not vote Labor as they saw the depravity of communism.
labor members are foisted upon us who grew up on the fringes Wong albo etc.
they import the Gazans as they are a bubble which will cause trouble.Imperialist powers have done this for centuries. Probs is that the smaller population are resented over centuries, then in a moment are exterminated or chased/frog marched out of the country.
problem is people like Merkel, Blair Wong Adhern etc do not know the extent of what they are causing – therefore they are stupid.
who else calls their own people rapists, murderers, ripp off merchants, greedy pigs etc .

Thank god we of the older generation have lived through an age where we have had relative peace and abundance thanks to our parent’s generation. Today is a day of chaos, where good is bad and bad is good. If the children of today are incapable of critical thinking, logic and sense then they will deserve the world they inherit. Perhaps it’s time for all you down south to move up to my Queensland to create a conservative voting bloc that ousts the local communists and we then separate from what will be left of Australia.

I went to a war based on lies, just like every other one, and can now see through all the BS being sprayed around us including the deadly vax. So, come on get your selves up here so we can at least save our preferred way of life.

Has there been in history, any other civilisation like the First World ‘West’ which has self-induced such a precipitous decline within the space of two generations?

There’s a meme in this week’s Powerline WiP, something a long the lines of 1/3 of the population would kill (if provided a reason and sanction) another third, while the remaining third of the population watched impassively. Given the covidiocy, I’d say that’s not far wrong.

What’s the key to countering these successful tactics? Targeting the enablers. A significant component of the elite’s infrastructure is the legacy media. They hold a firm grip on power, certainly, but without the leg media, the elites are so much weaker. In old-fashioned terms, the leg media are the batteries in the remote control that directs the behaviour of the active one third of the population (see above).

The one’s with the love haven’t read or understood how the Palestinians feel about the current conflict, or their opinions on Hamas.

Pretty standard state of ignorance of the luvvies, I’ve found.

Oh – and I haven’t seen Zali toothgap proffering apartments in Manly for these refugees.

I don’t imagine the residents of Warringah much agree with the policy unless it involves dumping them in Lakemba.
