Walking to church last Sunday. A little late. It was already 9 am. Part of the reason for my lateness was that I had decided to bundle up and drop off some unwanted clothes at the Sally Army store, which is on my way. A red MAGA cap was part of the bundle. It looked ungainly on my head, and I have a better one. Thought I would spread the MAGA around.
Anyway, a chap was walking towards me on an otherwise deserted laneway. He was of a mature age; thus, I said good morning as was the habit in days of yore and sometimes even today. He responded civilly in kind, so without thinking much I offered him the MAGA hat. I said you might like it, if you are a Trump supporter. He wasn’t. Hard man to love, he said. Oh, I don’t know, I said, I love him. So far so good. A difference of opinion, that is all. But then he added, as we were walking apart, “you know, he has removed coloured people’s names from Arlington.”
I am not making a word of that up, lest you think that I am.
I responded a little impatiently. What stuff do you listen to! I retorted. But spotting my own impatience and realising I was wearing my Jesus cap (“El Rey Viene”) and, to boot, on my way to church, I said, “but I love you anyway.”
This man, who looked perfectly respectable and normal, walking around the Lower North Shore of Sydney, where derros are a rarity was, in fact, suffering from a bad case of TDS. My next-door neighbour is similarly affected, though not so far gone. It is fair to say that almost everybody in my church has succumbed. It is a very common malady, right throughout ‘the wide brown land’. Which prompts my thought. Can I and my few fellow travellers be in step and everyone else out of step? Are we the ones inside the insane asylum; deludedly thinking we are on the outside?
Once in church the minister, referring to Matthew 23:37, made a pointless comparison of Jesus, gathering his people like a hen gathering chickens under her wings, to Putin and Trump. Why? Apart, that is, from trying to draw a damning parallel between Putin and Trump. Separately, in speaking of sinful “vengeance,” he applied it to his distaste for certain politicians on TV. Let me guess, the odd conservative one. Plus, of course, Trump the terrible.
To be clear, I believe that most professional politicians are wretches, but I don’t seek vengeance, even subconsciously, even on Chris Bowen – just their defeat at the ballot box. The lesson I am increasingly taking from my church is that leftism corrupts everything that it touches, including the rendition of Biblical texts. But you and I know that anyway, don’t we? Look at the former Archbishop of Canterbury and the current Pope for case studies in leftism corrupting ministry.
Leftism is a curse on mankind and a mental derangement rolled into one. If evidence is wanted of its relationship to the work of the Antichrist look no further than the 1989 move Warlock. By the way, in case you haven’t seen it, a must-see movie. The warlock played by Julian Sands is after the Devil’s Bible (“The Grand Grimoire”), which contains the real name of God, which if uttered in reverse will undo all creation. What a quite brilliant plot to savour while drinking a glass of wine or three. Julian Sands, Richard E Grant (Redferne, the witch hunter) and Lori Singer (Kassandra) are all expertly cast for their roles.
Uncreation, that is to say universal destruction, is the Devil’s objective. In simpatico, destroying Western civilisation is the Left’s objective. They move in malevolent tandem.
Some blogger posted a poll which suggested around 70% of Aussies have TDS. Don’t know if true or not. Our family is a big supporter of Trump and our son lives in the USA. In February he brought us out 3 MAGA caps. Hubbie wore one into Bakers Delight and the lady serving said my husband would love that cap will you sell it for $30? He sold it.
Friend asked us to wear cap to meet her friends in a dining Hotel. I declined as waiters with TDS could spit in the food!! These people are unhinged.
Of course he has …
I do and am utterly unrepentant about it.
I think there is a correlation between TDS and consumption of MSM.
And yes, it is well entrenched in many churches.
Listening to people describe what Trump is doing makes one think they are totally irrational.
Not just irrational, but totally misinformed. Like the garbage Peter noted about ‘coloured people removed from Arlington’.
One of the two sons of my first marriage to a complete lefty like his father and is utterly TDS demented. He watches nothing but the MSM, mostly the ABC. The other one was once like that but has changed in the past two years – a slow change that drew him more and more into appreciating the US needed a Trump, and now he is saying that Australia does too. He spends his time on hte internet now, and watches no MSM.
So changes can happen.
Welcome back, Lizzie.
I trust the operation went well and you are on the mend.
Thank you, yes, I am well on the mend now. Four days since the op and now back home. I have arranged a ‘standing desk’ using a bed-table on my ordinary desk, which is just the right height for blogging without sitting down.
Sitting is the only real issue now. And that will improve as the wound heals.
TDS and Warlock in the same post. Completely unexpected.
I’m pleased to report my church has a policy of praying for all Australian politicians, irrespective of party.
The prayers are neutral in tone, simply asking for God’s guidance.
Peter, I also live part of my life on the Lower North Shore. Sadly, there are a lot of “uncritical thinkers” in this neck of the woods. For almost three decades we have been having breakfast coffee at a local harbour beach. There are two cafes side by side. Amazingly, “conservatives” seem to frequent one, and “lefties” the other! It probably reflects the political extremities in the area. Even so, it still shocks me to see the Zali Steggle middle aged ladies peddling her politics on the beach.
Not just the LNS .. my son lives in the wealthy part(s) of the Central Coast (Copa adjacent) and rest assured TDS is the gold standard .. Luv of the Don is viewed as asylum material ………
BTW the diversity of our suburb is reflected at our table this morning – a bricklayer, a builder, a property developer, a real estate agent, a lawyer – & us two farmers.
My current head gear .. LOL!
Love it! Where did you get it?
TEMU …..
Thanks…
I got The Outlaw and the Hillbilly one, love it.
You, sometimes, have to wonder how other folks minds work .. How would anyone be able to work out the skin colour of the deceased from a headstone/cemetery list ……..?
has removed coloured people’s names from Arlington
Some folk’s minds DON”T WORK, at all.
The Zombie Apocalypse is HERE and NOW.
I blame the Australian media for widespread TDS here.
You would have to be a complete moron to believe that “Trump removed coloured people’s names from Arlington.”
Even if Trump would do that – and he wouldn’t – he would never get away with it and it would be all over the MSM.
Critical, realistic thinking is in extremely short supply on the left.
Thinking of any kind is in extremely short supply on the left.
From Today’s Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney:
For those elected in State Parliament that they may serve the people of NSW with diligence and integrity
Does this clown have any idea of the logistics of doing this? Have they actually been to Arlington? And how would they know if the person under the headstone was “coloured”?
This one of the stupidest accusations I have ever heard.
I grew up in Willoughby, married and left. Glad I did.
As for your shepherd, might be time to find someone who actually teaches from scripture, rather than bending scripture to suit his political views.
Which is thoroughly biblical:
“I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”
I Timothy 2:1-2
If leftism is mental derangement then none of its advocates can properly be held morally or criminally responsible for their crimes against humanity.
I don’t buy that excuse…not for one second.
Thank you Peter.
I enjoy all of your writing, here and elsewhere.
Please keep it up.
So do I. He’s one of the best (and most honest).
The recent fascinating Tucker Carlson interview with Steve Witkoff contained stories exemplifying President Trump’s warm relationship with President Putin. One story is that Putin went to church to pray for Trump after the shooting. ( Maybe there’s also too much PDS out there?)

That was quick
