Ah, shared house memories, one in particular: looking for the one saucepan still with a handle and finding it boiling away on the stove with the resident junkie’s kit getting a good wash. Of course, once you have a heroin addict under the roof, his friends come over. After that, you come home and find someone has broken in and stolen the stereo.

I haven’t lived.

Needs to be in a foam cup stirred with an ice cream stick to unlock the full flavour!

With powdered “whitener” (whatever the fuck that is) which doesn’t fully dissolve and leaves a few gummy lumps floating on the surface.

I do wonder about the engine and battery wear-and-tear factor with the cut-out switches.

Most engine wear occurs on start up because the lubricant isn’t quite where it should be…..

Areff, the aspiring junkies in my group house moved out together when the rest of us made it clear that they were not welcome. All that vomit – eeeuw!

But then, something worse happened. It started with a nice young woman with a job and a few hippie tendencies who moved in. No biggie, we thought. How wrong we were.

Before long, a shaggy pal turned up to stay for a few nights. Then another one, and another one. Suddenly we had three freeloaders eating our food, occupying our space and facilities, and contributing zero.

After a week or so, we asked their sponsor what was going on, and it became clear that she didn’t see any problem. They could stay as long as they wanted.

I took matters into my own hands. I bought a can of red spraypaint, and sprayed ‘WE DRINK HIPPIES BLOOD’ with suitable dripmarks on the inside of the back door.

They were gone within a day.

It was an early lesson about not letting leeches settle in, and how easily direct resistance deters them.

Our unusual share house guy was about 30 and worked for VicPlod in some subunit of the TRG. Used to disappear for 30 days at a time undercover. It wasn’t unusual to come home and find handguns disassembled for cleaning on the coffee table. A bit of a strange dude.

Never move into a share house if there’s a guy with a drum kit set up in his bedroom.

Rules to live by.

Apart from the noise, drummers as a class are not likely to be good housemates.

There is only one Phil Collins.

Johanna use a French Press, Ikea Upphetta 13.4 oz,$9.99. Use a coffee measuring spoon, compress the coffee against the side of the container for consistency, use the cup you’re going to drink out of filled to the top with less than boiling water, pour into French Press. Fit the plunger wait for a few minutes the firmly but slowly plunge the coffee. It should make the right amount. Don’t boil the water as it makes the coffee bitter. Vary the length of time brewed to mellow the flavour and vary the amount of coffee used according to taste. I use two measures of Vittoria Black Mountain. The dregs get rinsed down the sink. Easy.

“Been looking at a wired cam for the wife. Less delay and interference.”

Plenty of cheap Chinese android car radios do that, as well as SatNav,dash-cam, MP3 music, and Bluetooth .
Even hooks up to existing steering wheel controls.
I have about 24 hours of music in mine (1300 tracks) – only half full.
Reverse camera works well, even comes with IR lighting when active.
Appears on radio screen (standard 2 DIN mounting with 7″ screen).
Dash-cam even comes with Advanced driver assistance – drift out of lane, car ahead stopping and car ahead starting alerts (I don’t use these, but they work fine, if annoying).
I have SatNav using Open Street Maps as off-line, includes voice direction through standard radio speakers (an add 3G/4G/5G USB dongle if you want on-line maps, and can share this over WiFi)
Bluetooth through car speakers works fine, including muting audio (radio, MP3 or video).
Dual video out for rear-seat passengers (not using it myself)
cost me $120 plus GST, inc freight on AliExpress (wait and look for “specials”, you’ll find one eventually)
Mounting “kit” inc car specific brackets and surround, plus car wiring to ISO plug cost me $50 locally, IIRC. This kit made it very easy to fit.
Also paid about $5 for a new, car specific “launcher” app (Russian, actually!), that makes it much a easier/nicer user interface than standard android launcher in a car environment – and is fully configurable (move “buttons”, rename then, make them launch specific apps, colours, manufacturer logo etc etc)
Been going great for 2 years so far.

The greatest advancement in the Australian civilisation in the past 30 years is that it is now virtually impossible to buy bad Australian shiraz — and coffee, provided the latter in brewed onsite in an expresso* machine.
Good coffee is Italy’s greatest gift to Australia.

In fact, “gender reassigmment” surgery is subsidised by the Iranian state. One suspects their is a very Islamic jurisprudential reasoning behind this…i.e. if they become “women” they are no longer tainted by homosexuality.

Except for the fact that most end up in lesbian relationships after the chop anyways

Last share house ever lived in was with three sheilas. One was a dope fiend.

She had a male friend – not boyfriend – who used to turn up at mealtimes, and ask if he could join us. Never brought anything to contribute.

After a while he would turn up even if his friend wasn’t there. On occasion we locked all the doors and windows beforehand and pretended we were out. Didn’t deter him from knocking in several places.

Some people have no shame.

It reminds me of the US. An admirable country in many ways, but it always amazed me how awful their favourite drink, coffee, was. The concept of putting actual milk into coffee was completely alien outside specialist outlets. Your ‘endless cup’ came courtesy of a jug on a lukewarm base, and was better than Pablo, but not much.

I’m currently reading Billy Thorpe’s (of The Aztecs) book about Kings Cross in the 1960s, and it reminds me that we have been lucky enough to get good coffee for a long time. Those big, hissy machines imported at great expense by Italian migrants in the 60s and 70s mean that our cafe and restaurant coffee is pretty damn good.

I can remember getting cappucinos – ultra kewl – in the late 60s and early 70s. Meanwhile, Murricans were still drinking stewed swill. Maybe that’s why Starbucks took off.

Someone mentioned the other day that they thought Malcolm Fraser’s property “Nareen” was 9,000 acres.
I don’t think it is that big (something under 5,000 acres I think).
But, having sold it for $3.8m in the 1990’s, it would now be worth an order of magnitude higher than that.
$30 – $40 meg, minimum, not counting the value of the homestead itself.

The ABC – Australia’s most trusted news source.

So they tell us. Must be true, since they are Australia’s most trusted news source.

But kidding aside, I do find it funny that (according to the research they pay for) more people in Australia trust the ABC than actually watch it – supposedly most Australians trust it, but we also know they ratings.

I think much of the trust they enjoy is an artefact from an earlier time when their partisanship was less obvious. People don’t watch it, but they retain an opinion formed from decades ago. And the people who have the responsibility to call them to account on our behalf – the government – is scared of them.

They have even got people to believe that the ABC’s only requirement is independence rather than impartiality, so they can be as independently biased as they like. If they were impartial it would not matter if they were legally independent or not, being impartial would make them editorially independent – which is what the independence thing was always meant to be about.

The people who watch the ABC and trust it tend to be people devoted to it. A closed community of their own. And the ABC persuades them that their only hope for salvation is to watch and listen intently. Hostages to their own fears.

I dunno. You get a decent choice of coffee in NYC at least. There are actually quite a few coffee places now run by astryans. There are three or four on the upper eastside that I know of and always seem to be busy. I’m sure Crooklyn is littered with Aussie coffee joints. You can tell because the Aussie cool in NYC is to wear a beanie possibly even in the summer.

If you ask for “American coffee” you get filtered coffee which I like and often prefer to expresso crap.

It totally backfires. Normies are calling this out as basically the same as demanding lesbians to have sex with straight men, and that the trans activists have demands far beyond what the gays and lesbians ever asked for – basically acceptance vs capitulation.

These freaks might be able to fool my eyes, but they sure as hell can’t fool my dick.

Interesting coincidence, compounds which protect against snake venom poisoning also protect against Covid-19:

Nicotine
Zinc
Hydroxychloroquine
Ivermectin
Quercetin
N.A.C.
Vitamin C
Copper
Bentonite clay
Corticosteroids
Budesonide (Nebulised)

The deadly component of the SARS-Cov-2 virus resembles venom from the king cobra and red-headed krait snakes. It is also found in the mRNA vaxxines, and in the officially endorsed treatment, Remdesivir.

Cigars smoking should be made mandatory to protect against catching Covid-19.
