Bolt ‘Very un-Australian’: Rabbi discusses rising antisemitism in Australia
35 here in the Hills yesterday, 33 today. How did we ever survive?
Pathetic Kamala Harris spent $1.5 billion — including on bribes to interviewers
I’d laugh but I think all the other states could end up the same way without too much effort.
Hehe, I’ll take this from the top:
1) RBA governor Philip Lowe can & should use whatever style & price of watch he wants. It is a free country, & if he wants to spend $20,000 bucks to achieve the same result as someone whose watch cost $1.69 on ebay, then who are we to stand in his way?
Likewise who the heck do the j’ismist caste or the Anal govt think they are to make any comment?
The man is paid a salary & merits of that salary aside, he’s harming nobody if he spends way more of that salary than he needs to on a fancy replica of a $2 Seiko.
The money is going to craftsmen, entrepreneurs, & is keeping the wheels of the economy greased, some may say Lowe spending his money on precise timepieces is doing more for the economy than anything he’s ever done at the RBA – I cannot comment on that, it is not for me to say.
2) What RBA governor Philip Lowe should not do is bow to the mob & start using a less expensive watch, one that is say 1/1000 the value of the one he used until yesterday.
Bow to the mob & you’re finished, in every way.
(None of the above is to be taken as commentary on his fitness or suitability as an RBA board member.)
Bow to the mob & you’re finished, in every way.
Absolutely true. Should have done the exact opposite. Wore something even more expensive. “My work watch is being serviced…..”
Having a beer and steak in Singapore Airport before I return to the land of minimal beer and minimal steak.
Knackered after yesterday, on the tools, trying to get the level alarms set right. Up and down the tank ladders a 100 times.
Is it correct that the train cars were NOT leaking after the derailment and could have been taken to some deserted area.
Why were they cut open and set ablaze?
Anyone know?
Watch lovers?

I haven’t been through Changi for ages. Do they still have the rooftop pool?

I only know a bit about road tankers. A key design requirement is that potential for a leak after an accident is minimised. Top fittings need to be mounted within a combing to protect them from being sheared off, and they need to be liquid tight. All bottom fittings need to be fitted with foot valves mounted internal to the tank so that external fittings can be sheared off without causing a leak. I can’t see why the same sorts of approaches wouldn’t be applied to rail cars. Thus a low speed derailment shouldn’t result in any leakage of product.
Apparently there is still a pool at Changi!

No, standard fare for Germany in 1932 and Europe 2023.
We’re supposed to be looking for a ‘strong man’ government to sort the mess out – but we’re failing to see that it’s the ‘strong men’ doing this.
Arm the people and see this shit stop.
Not really a waiting list. I don’t think the Authorized Dealers even know what or when they are going to get from the manufacturer. Apparently you haven’t been able to get a steel Rolex for months (not that I’ve tied). The ADs just keep taking whatever they are sent hoping they get something they can move it on. If you are in a real hurry you pay over list from somebody flipping for profit meanwhile the ADs move unloved stuff like solid gold or dual metal onto grey market dealers to discount. All pretty opaque but it’s been done like that forever.
If anyone is criticising Philip Lowe and the RBA, you ought to look at this chart.

The most recent series of “Blue Bloods” (a cop show set in New York city, starring Tom Selleck & Donnie Wahlberg) has an episode themed on the expensive men’s wristwatch industry.
Others may be able to comment on the accuracy/authenticity of the theme.
Because I don’t think it’s likely to be true.

I liked the bit from the article:
I thought ‘briskly walked away’ was rather cute.
The rise of the Scottish National Party, and Sturgeon in particular, represented the colonisation of Scottish politics by the new ruling class, by illiberal liberalism, by a layer of faux-progressive technocrats who have become increasingly authoritarian and disdainful of ordinary people.
Sturgeon looks as ugly as her politics. What a slag.
Sturgeon should be on the float with Tennis Albo.
Them Arden should jump on too. And that Wong chap.
They can all be sodomized.
Or is Arden they? I can’t keep up.
“St John of God Subiaco Hospital acting chief executive Jenny Brenton said a ‘serious incident’ which resulted in an ‘adverse outcome for a patient’.”
Oxygen leak followed by a whole lot of shit spontaneously combusting? Most probably including surgical cloth covering the patient?

Maybe. Or it may be one of the dozens of people who for one reason or another have wandered off into the central Australian desert and died in the last twenty years.
I note the conspicuous absence of a ‘jelly man’ in the reporting to date.

It seems to me that a massive number of otherwise untested bureaucrats, in a number fields, had their moment in the sun and managed to almost universally completely f’ck things.
Janet A’s article of Senator Reynolds interview is a ripper.
Penny Wong and Katy Gallagher don’t come out looking very good but then their performance throughput the saga has been a disgrace.
Kimberly Kitching warned Reynolds the hit job was coming.
What is despicable about what happened is that since the case was pending trial she could not really speak out.
I believe Reynolds version and can well understand why she made her comment about Higgins.
From the Oz – I’ve posted the first installment.
More to follow, Over.
Has anyone posted Janet A’s piece on here? If so I missed it but happy to scroll back.
If not would appreciate if it can be posted. Cheers.

Why?
Because it can be a lifesaver when someone else tells lies about you.
I got into the habit during the last ten years of my nursing career and am grateful I did because that habit has stuck with me. I wish I’d done it during the 80’s and 90’s.

Still life in the ol’ Brittany saga yet. Stay tuned …
Reynolds was a rather unsatisfactory Defence Minister, but if she continues to play the Higgins outrage in this masterful way, justice may even be served.
Whoever is coaching her to treat the villians in the conspiracy with such courtesy and respect is a genius.
Her more direct attack on Drummond who is already revealed as dodgy, is equally clever.
I hope she keeps her nerve and sues them until their skin bubbles.
A perfect, but impossible outcome would be for CCP Wong to be publically called to account.
