I hope so. I went with my stepmother, who is recovering from breast cancer surgery, to see a performance of ‘Oklahoma’ by the local theatre company and we got the WTC and a lecture that Queanbeyan sits on stolen land that was never ceded. My stepmother told me I’m like my father with the audible groan and “bullshit” muttered under my breath. Can’t they leave us alone to enjoy a show?
Thanks for the bingo TE!
Voters in Melbourne’s CBD reportedly queued for c. 2 hours to vote at the only local polling booth in Docklands.
You need to be watching ABC 24 now. Champagne viewing. And they all but called the NZ election for the Nats. Skyfall for them.
What!? They’re swapping out the panel?? Those therapy dogs are going to cop a flogging.
Sky News website showing 56 no to 44 yes so far.
NO needs to be counted as 39% from now on in for YES to scrape through by a few thousand votes.
It’s over.
With 1.4 million votes counted, mostly in the inner burbs of NSW and Victoria, it’s about 44/56. There is no way YES can win from here. It’s going down further, almost certainly.
Time to break open the champlonk! ????
JC
Warm up the hotline phones.
Those question marks were smileys of various types.
guardian with a seat by seat count
Sky has called TAS for NO.
Antony has national at about 55:45 No. He thinks Victoria will be 50:50.
Now ABC brings in Lidia Thorpe and some lefty to comment. Quelle surprise!
Kiwis on track to say NO to Labour and its race-based, un-declared “co-governance” soft coup.
If Albo doesn’t take the right lessons from todays refo the same result could be coming Labor/teal/Green way in next election.
Not a flogging, exactly…
ACT and NT are territories, not states. They’re not included in the second layer of referendum votes – (1) a majority of votes and (2) a majority of states.
Lol you gotta be kidding. They have Lidia Thorpe as the No representative and some diversity hire at the AFL for Yes.
More ABC cope.
Already 30% of national polling places counted.
I’d forgotten this is yes/no, not a preference count like elections. Quicker.
Apologies to Carpe for doubting his prediction of 7pm.
The national Yes at 44% is going to drop significantly once the Qld votes come on stream.
National vote at 55/45 to No needs to widen!
Jacinta Price for PM
She should resign along with Elbow.
ABC projecting Taxmania and south Austfailure as no states…
Back in D-Town and enjoying a beverage.
For the first time since the Q&A thread salad days, I have two threads operating simultaneously.
Skah. Chris Kenny is now angry/sad, and trying to evoke some degree of professionalism despite having wet and glassy eyes.
Gabor, it looks like every channel has something on. Sky news regional channel #53
This reminds me of the ABC’s US election coverage when they got some Democrat and a NeverTrump RINO for ‘balance’ and they spent the entire time furiously agreeing with each other.
Sky mentioned 4 of the largest Aboriginal towns in NSW voting No.
Now watching ABC for the squirm factor only.
Just moved on AAP:
Paul Osborne in Canberra
The ‘no’ case is ahead in NSW, Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria as the first votes in the Indigenous referendum are counted.
At 7pm AEDT, Australian Electoral Commission figures showed 57 per cent ‘no’ and 43 per cent ‘yes’ across the four states and the ACT where counting had started.
South Australia was recording the highest ‘no’ vote at 70 per cent.
Voice votes show ‘no’ ahead in four states
Early votes in the voice referendum showed the ‘no’ case was well ahead in four states.
The ACT was the only jurisdiction where the ‘yes’ vote was ahead.
In the national capital, 66 per cent voted ‘yes’ and 34 per cent voted ‘no.
The ‘yes’ case was gaining ground in Victoria, but at 45 per cent was still behind ‘no’.
NSW voters recorded a 58 per cent ‘no’ vote, while Tasmanians voted 59 per cent ‘no’.
One thing that does infuriate me is how the Lefties say that “the electorate didn’t understand….”
So condescending. We DID understand and that’s why we voted NO.
Sky, watch Sky.
The Renwick booth (Mittagong) 617 No, 418 Yes, 10 Informal.
ABC avoiding calling SA. They called the others at this %.
If SA is called. All over.
1. ABC radio inserting the ACT dildo of content. 65% support for Yes in the “most progressive” electorate in Australia.
2. Next up was the mental health problems in our indigenous community brought on by the referendum. Record numbers showing exhibition depression and anxiety.
1- most delusional and unrepresentative.
2- Ask Albo why he did this to you.
Racists, obviously.
Confederalism would have been better – Aussies are cautious to constitutional change though.
This is for a quant is like scoring 10 goals in the AFL Grand Final.
😉 West Virginia
As long as any Statehood is granted genuinely it doesn’t matter. ACT should never and currently cannot be a State.
Ch 9 called the States being counted “a constitutional quirk” – these dunderheads make the blood boil over. IT’S MEANT TO WORK LIKE THAT!
People voting nyet because Elbow didn’t go far enough
is Creme de la Copium.
Antony doing Sydney.
Labor seats No.
Liberal seats No.
Teal seats….Yes.
LOL.
Why watch Sky when the ABC is so fabulously entertaining? Best funeral coverage ever!
Wow! Chris Kenny is really a piece of shit. He just accused Littleproud of lying about the referendum and blames him for the loss.
Your demoralisation will be disappointed. Hope that came out right?
.
My nephew is in uniform, ready for them on the north border.
Sky showing 55 – 45.
Nah
Goldstein (Teal) = Yes.
nothing to talk about now; so Paul Murray asking Warren Mundine about the early days when the polls were for yes.
Whoops. Sky just showed a 100% no vote for WA (which hasn’t closed yet but am hopeful for such a result!!!)
She would do well and not only for polemical reasons
– she is not arrogant
– she is not from Sydney or Melbourne
– she has a real focus on family-led solutions
– she speaks from the heart
Sorry Cassie but Wentworth currently 66% Yes and other Teal seats Yes.
Julian Leeser seat currently 52% No.
“It’s Time” for Chris Kenny to go.
Duplicitous little prick.
My sources are impeccable!
Katz, I love disappointed demoralisation!
😀
Doing just that now.
Hahahahahaha quick throw to Lidia, she’s got something bonkers to say
Back in D-Town and enjoying a beverage.
Bloody hell Knuckles, you’re like a pizza ad. Now I’ve got to get off my arse and head to the beer fridge.
I’ve got the chocolate coated scorched almonds on standby for a whiskey coffee later.
And strength to your nephew’s arm. Bronze bows and all.
Qld showing 87% no
I guess we won’t be seeing Lidia in genocidal QLD.
That Thorpe woman is a real piece of work.
Translation – “We didn’t broadcast enough misinformation”.
Yes has exploded from 44.05 to 44.83
sphincters tighten
Aboriginal suicide rates have skyrocketed since the referendum was announced, Lidia? I wonder if ABC-RMIT will fact check that.
Queensland has entered the chat.
Here we go. Ageist, racist, sexist (old white men) remarks by Thorpe.
Okay he’s going to call SA…
Lidia says Australians are ignorant. Genocide! We’re hurting! We need a Truth and Justice Commission! Racists! “People are literally killing themselves”! We have to have a Treaty!!! “This is not our Constitution which was written by a bunch of old white fellas!”
Not sure what you want will work out how you want lady.
It’s over. Done.
Lidia Thorpe urging Australians to stamp out racism…does anyone else see the irony here?
Chris Kenny is originally from Adelaide.
It’s like a recessive gene.
Tony Burqa seat losing by 10 points!
Watch now! ! Hahhahahahahahahahahhahaajaaaa
Lydia Thorpe still raising genocide and incarceration rates.
Green calling SA for No. Referendum defeated.
Australia made the wrong choice
Antony calls SA for no, especially Labor electorates.
“Antony Green has called it at 7:24 PM, Australia has voted No in the referendum.”
We need a good scolding
Sky has called it. Its a NO.
Whoo hoo!
Two million pre poll votes to go. Most will be NO and “undecided” NO votes.
I’m going to sort out a Stan sub for the rugby, eat a steak dinner and go for a walk. Catch up on work tomorrow and some fitness with friends.
Things are getting better.
Don’t look a white pill gift horse in the mouth.
Maybe we can have a welcome to country referendum next.
From Sky: “Australia rejects constitutional change”.
Elbow’s Grate Moment is come.
We were told the referendum is not about race so a NO win can’t possibly be due to racism.
At first look, running 80% No. Go you good thing!
The ABC fool thinks a Yes vote would have solved the problems with Aboriginal disadvantage
ABC projects no
It’s ogre.
So ogre.
Like Shrek boning the princess and she suddenly spazzes back into human form on the vinegar stroke ogre.
Lidia will have to make do with lefty woke ABC types figuratively killing themselves.
It’s hard to watch and takes much longer.
It’s a bloodbath. WA Lieborals would be experiencing deja vu all over again.
Epic LOL.
NPC politicians: “I love democracy, except when you don’t vote the correct way.”
Dan gone. Voice gone. Good couple of weeks.
It must be safe now to open the bubbly.
Luigi starting on his boxes.
should re-purpose Lidia to be the National Scolder in Chief. Moral outrage for the masses, paid by the minute, taken seriously by none.
It’s done. No to racism, to to identity politics, no to division.
We are one, we are all equal under the law.
Who the f*** is this dude with the Indian buffet vomit tie?
No way am I watching chicks footy. Ch 9 packs it in!
Michelle Rowland now mopping up. “This was about listening to First Nations people; this is the form of constitutional change they wanted; it’s now up to the Albanese Government to improve the lives of aboriginal people”.
Peta Credlin: “this is about closing the gap for everyone – Australians has sent a shot across the bow of the politicians; they reject the politics of division”.
I should have used metaphorically there but what the hell, it’s a good night and we’re all in the mood for a dance.
Noel Pearson needs to be true to his word. I don’t expect to hear from him ever again.
All that money wasted on the referendum could have been spent on pies, chiko rolls, crisps, coke & beer for disadvantaged remote indigenes.
Wow. The @rsehole who downticked my encouragement to Katz’s nephew…eat dust.
Because they don’t have any moral agency themselves, right, Michael?
Yippee! Skynews calling it for No.
Even Vic on track to get it right.
What a waste of $ Albo your corkhead.
Up yours Ray Martin and Turnbull!
Hopefully we get a good indication of how Aboriginals voted to show it was not the 80% claimed.
Just go and play outside.
This has a Brexit-y feel to it, gotta say.

Nanny Neil on 3AW just interviewed the AEC wonk as I was in the car and asked about that. Wonk said they couldn’t find a venue. Not like there’s a school hall or anything..
Oh good, Andrew Bolt is calling for Albo to resign, says his position is now untenable.
Wtf? Lidia Thorpe says she feels sad for her people despite getting the result she wanted. There’s just no pleasing some people
Dutton needs to go hard:
Albo spent half a billion and 18 months doing nothing to improve your life, only divide Australians
And, across the ditch, Chris Hipkins gone by the looks.
Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine , take a bow.
Sounds like he knows his way around scatter cushions.
Now get on with governing Australia, you useless mob of douche nozzles!
Welcome to Country Strike!
When do we want it?
Now!
Guardian still bitter clinging to ‘undecided’.
David Littleproud also deserves praise, he came out early for NO and unwaveringly supported Jacinta.
Bolt is letting it all hang out and he is right.
Glebe Point might save it for Yes.
Spot on Crossie.
Stand up Cats and applaud those magnificent indigenous Australians.
Expect he won’t be Robinson Crusoe. Da bruvvas have a problem on their hands.
Obligatory.
Kenny still rabid.
The gratuities will be lower at least. Smoking ceremonies will be less carcinogenic.
And Chris Kenny just keeps on digging. Somebody extend a stick with a crook and drag him off the stage.
Hipkins looks like the gay art dude in ghostbusters.
Is it too early for this?
All we need now is IT and his triumphant hellfire club phaeton.
Ooh, both Bolt and Credlin are letting Chris Kenny have it. I hope management are watching and working out that he is done at Sky.
No.
I want them paralysed by recriminations and internecine strife for the next 18 months.
They’ve already done enough damage with their “governing.”
ABC using Aboriginal names every time reporting from a city.
If Coaltion gets back in need to deduct money from budget every time ABC use wrong name.
Communist Mayo now on and devastated.
When Albo called the referendum, I briefly thought Albo would fall on his sword if Yes went down like Cameron after the Brexit referendum, but no – not that cockroach. Anyway, the referendum process generally means the government will support the proposed change.
This guy on the ABC now is a sore loser. SIT DOWN, LOSER
Cats
Collectively write to Sky and get Kenny removed FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!
This is just like the good old Cat. All we need is Ol’ Leathery calling for clear air for Julia and Hendo reminding Mincing Marr most RC offenders were homose*ual paed0philes.
Ooh, blood on the floor at Sky. Bolt just told Kenny to sit down and shut up.
Apparently it’s all Dutton’s fault.
Disadvantaged remote region indigenes are decendents of those who weren’t advantaged by being removed and aren’t from multiple generations of urban mixed marriages who learned to count and spell. The remotees are the ones continuing “the longest continuing culture”</em – violence, child neglect & molestation, patriarchy & domestic violence. The urban elite have just lost their opportunity to increase the gap between themselves and those in need who they use as pawns.
The next episode of Pauline Hanson’s Please Explain will be EPIC.
Mayo blames the lies and Dutton.
Dunno about the national cricket team, but it is very obvious that Chris Kenny is going to require counselling. 🙂
I think Albo will need a tap on the shoulder, like Gillard. Might take a few days.
Justifies a Royal Commission into “Wrong Voting by the Misinformed Masses”
Chris Kenny saying the Voice proposal was not racially divisive but the campaign only became racially divisive because the No campaign called it racially divisive and that “became self-fulfilling”.
What. The.
If the proposal was so open to such a radical misinterpretation, don’t you think filling in the detail before putting it to a referendum would have been a better method?
Or maybe have a constitutional convention first, which was standard procedure until 5 minutes ago?
Chris Kenny needs to take extended leave from Sky a la Stan from the ABC.
Heh. Mayo looks shattered. I feel so much better.
nah, my old man gets weirdly sentimental some times. Let
him lick is wounds and pick himself up again.
Awww poor diddums tried to pull a fast one on the Australian people and got exposed. Now he’s all butthurt and lashing out at Dutton and Hanson lol feck off Mayo
Is someone going to go full Normie?
A referendum into reparations…
‘a modest proposal’
Haaaaaaa.
Crikey I’ve been making some incredibly perceptive comments about the screech result on the open thread and not here. Oh well.
I suspect the happiest person about the referendum outcome is either Plebersek or Shorten
Cheers Australians, we have avoided racial apartheid. (Raises a glass of bubbly)
A self confessed Communist blaming the lies….
Breaking news: blubbering heard from PM office.
Is it a rerun of Young Turks in 2016?
Don’t mess with the constitution because love is all you need.
Proving that both the parliamentary representatives of those seats only got there because they are supported by wealthy morons and brain dead midwits. Sad.
‘It’s only one page’
Haaaaa.
Chloe will visit the curtain makers on Monday before 11 AM.
No victory a “deplorable tragedy” according to Chris Kenny.
I’d suggest that term would be better applied to the “progressive” indigenous policies of the last 50 years, Chris.
I’d like them to escalate to soul searching. And ‘mistakes were made’.
Weeping on TV would be awesome.
‘No I haven’t read it, why would I?’
Haaaaaaaa.
On the phones already.
One of those insightful comments was about Kerrynne Liddell the aboriginal lady who is shadow minister for kiddies. She looks very good value. Along with our Jacinta there may be hope for the weak arsed libs.
Does this mean the inquiry into where trillions of dollars has gone, will go ahead?
Wow, looking like 6-0 with the states.
Reckon once QLD & WA start feeding in the the 65-35 might be conservative as well…
Albo:
Ray ‘the details don’t matter’ Martin rang. He’s wondering why he hasn’t been paid yet.
Hopefully someone puts together a video of Chris Kenny’s meltdown for YouTube.
Apparently it’s all Dutton’s fault.
We can only hope so.
Please, please let this be so.
6-0. Oh please.
Is it time for this as far as all the fauxborigines, the proggy twats, the Labor Party and the awful teals are concerned?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnYWmgSZdlM
There are going to be some epic takes over the next day or two. It’s going to be awesome.
My Lord, the seat of Melbourne, Adam Ant’s seat is 80% plus Yes. Unreal.
Higgins, 61% Yea,
Unreal.
A national apology campaign led by Albo where he gets chained to a different RSL/Pub bar each week and has to buy rounds from his pocket for those who despise him & his crap cabinet & their inner-city BS on Voice, Energy, etc.
I’d show up for sorry and a schooner on Albo.
Didn’t Jonathon Swift already try that?
Marcia on NITV – very glum
Nova Perris is about to cry.
QLD is running 66% no. WA will beat this; as well that result represents a big cobber up palachook’s clacker.
Lucky she kept the measurements from that Federal election.
Pretty funny that the ABC presenters are all looking like they’re about to take their toasters into the bathtub but are nevertheless holding it together, whilst it’s Chris Kenny who has had a full meltdown.
Hahahahha a new ABC panel! The suicide vans are doing a roaring trade.
Explain that in legalese English.
Chloe might have competition.
Stay tuned.
ABC refusing to call Queensland. Fncking biased prlcks.
Satire && sarcasm by one of the masters.
The Voice was way beyond satire – especially for those who proposed it.
Looks like my electorate in QLD voted yes as per the guardian website.
Are you sure? If Marcia looks very glum, that means giddy, joyous delirium.

Higgins, 61% Yea,
All the filth seats are rampant yes. When the shit hits the fan that concentration will assist any concentration of attack.
I suspect the inner city Elees will want to have their vengeance on the proles.
Oz saying Albo will address the nation at 9pm.
Hope he’s drunk and incoherent.
Goldstein too, JC
Why does the ABC’s ticker still show Aus as ‘?’ – it’s been called.
Apparently the ABC are shutting thier panel down and spooking off early.
Qld gawn! (Unsurprisingly)
My electorate in Vic voted NO
Albo goes full Sir-Les on national TV.
I might like him a little if he had the stones to just get drunk and do some truth-telling on air …
Warren Mundine on NITV – asked about Marcia – who’s on the couch. He just said that Marcia racially abused Australians and that she has no credibility. And he’s not taking any comments from someone who thinks we’re a racist county
Marcia – “this is Trumpian – from Steven Bannon’s playbook”
The hostess – “Marcia’s a national treasure”.
Well done, Warren!
It’s cool that Tasmania gets to decide the state total but the ACT doesn’t.
(ACT and NT combined easily outnumber Tasmania)
No wonder Channel 7 set aside only half an hour after their news for the Referendum report. I think they were more realistic than Sky about the outcome.
I can’t see the media coverage in Aust so if someone has a livelink i would appreciate it.
Obviously i don’t have a dog in this fight but seeing the Yes campaign go down in flames would give a massive Schaedenboner*
H/T AoSHQ.
Lots of unintentional comedy! ‘Referendums are almost impossible to win’ (cope).
Antony calls QLD at 66:34 No.
Penny WitchWong blaming Dutton.
Old Lizard Lips now being asked questions about Israel. *crickets + polibabble*
Sucked in Albansleazey, you preposterous knucklehead!
Wongbot being amazingly gracious in defeat.
But still recycling the slogan that 80% of indigenous people supported the proposal.
As though that was ever a good reason for everyone else to vote yes.
It’s not even clear that it was ever true.
If anyone knows how the Flinders electorate in Vic voted i would be interested.
(we lived there before we left Aust)
The sole Yes volunteer at the place I attended (3 No volunteers) seemed resigned to her fate. She was talking with the others about the prospect of rain, which is at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
Me – thanks, I really appreciate that
Sorry. That was Sky.
