Does this mean no more welcome to countries?

I hope so. I went with my stepmother, who is recovering from breast cancer surgery, to see a performance of ‘Oklahoma’ by the local theatre company and we got the WTC and a lecture that Queanbeyan sits on stolen land that was never ceded. My stepmother told me I’m like my father with the audible groan and “bullshit” muttered under my breath. Can’t they leave us alone to enjoy a show?

With 1.4 million votes counted, mostly in the inner burbs of NSW and Victoria, it’s about 44/56. There is no way YES can win from here. It’s going down further, almost certainly.

Just moved on AAP:

Paul Osborne in Canberra

The ‘no’ case is ahead in NSW, Tasmania, South Australia and Victoria as the first votes in the Indigenous referendum are counted.

At 7pm AEDT, Australian Electoral Commission figures showed 57 per cent ‘no’ and 43 per cent ‘yes’ across the four states and the ACT where counting had started.

South Australia was recording the highest ‘no’ vote at 70 per cent.
Voice votes show ‘no’ ahead in four states
Early votes in the voice referendum showed the ‘no’ case was well ahead in four states.

The ACT was the only jurisdiction where the ‘yes’ vote was ahead.

In the national capital, 66 per cent voted ‘yes’ and 34 per cent voted ‘no.

The ‘yes’ case was gaining ground in Victoria, but at 45 per cent was still behind ‘no’.

NSW voters recorded a 58 per cent ‘no’ vote, while Tasmanians voted 59 per cent ‘no’.

This is EXACTLY what I anticipated, the final statistic here is a weapon against the Pubic Service, which needs to be decentralised. The Canberra pubes run the politicians to our detriment. OUT OF TOUCH !

Confederalism would have been better – Aussies are cautious to constitutional change though.

66% – same as I predicted and same as the election outcome. Means Albo has convinced nobody who didn’t vote for Labor in last election despite spending hundreds of millions. Augurs well for next election …

This is for a quant is like scoring 10 goals in the AFL Grand Final.

This will be instructive about which state to move to.

This will be instructive about which state to move to.

PM’s voice referendum has been lost
Geoff Chambers
Geoff Chambers

Anthony Albanese’s voice referendum has been defeated after early voting revealed the key battleground states of Tasmania and NSW had swung hard towards No.

The Yes campaign, which needed a double majority including victory in four states and more than 50 per cent of the national vote, has failed.

Yes is expected to concede it has lost after more results come in from Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia where voters are expected to reject a constitutionally enshrined voice to parliament and executive government.

With Yes trailing No in all states and the national majority, the result will likely be called within the next hour. Mr Albanese will address the nation from parliament house.

Multicultural voters in western Sydney are on track to deliver a massive blow for the Yes side despite the Prime Minister, Yes23 campaigners and Labor ministers pouring resources into the electorates in the final weeks of the campaign.

Yes23 had identified millions of western Sydney voters, who also heavily voted No in the 2017 same sex marriage postal survey, as critical to claim victory in NSW.

On current trends, the majority of voters in the seat of Barton held by Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney had rejected the voice. Just after 7pm, 53.5 per cent of Barton voters had backed No compared with 46.5 per cent for Yes.

After one-hour of counting, almost 68 per cent of voters in Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s seat voted No compared to 32 per cent for yes.

In Blaxland, held by Education Minister Jason Clare, 61.5 per cent voted No compared with 38.4 per cent for Yes.

In Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke’s seat of Watson, more than 54 per cent voted No.

More than 57 per cent of voters in Chifley, held by Industry Minister Ed Husic, voted No. No was also leading 53 to 47 per cent in Greenway, held by Communications Minister Michelle Rowland.

Now get on with governing Australia, you useless mob of douche nozzles!

Disadvantaged remote region indigenes are decendents of those who weren’t advantaged by being removed and aren’t from multiple generations of urban mixed marriages who learned to count and spell. The remotees are the ones continuing “the longest continuing culture”</em – violence, child neglect & molestation, patriarchy & domestic violence. The urban elite have just lost their opportunity to increase the gap between themselves and those in need who they use as pawns.

Chris Kenny saying the Voice proposal was not racially divisive but the campaign only became racially divisive because the No campaign called it racially divisive and that “became self-fulfilling”.

What. The.

If the proposal was so open to such a radical misinterpretation, don’t you think filling in the detail before putting it to a referendum would have been a better method?
Or maybe have a constitutional convention first, which was standard procedure until 5 minutes ago?

Indigenous Australians must ‘stick together’: Hosch
Ellie Dudley
Ellie Dudley

Yes23 campaigner Tanya Hosch says she refuses to become a victim as a result of the voice referendum being shot down, saying Indigenous Australians must “stick together” to move towards reparations.

“I don’t intend to be a victim to this result in terms of knowing who I am and my identity as an Australian,” she told the ABC.

“I know that there will be other people who are equally wanting to be galvanised by this moment. I think the dialogue that we have to have with each other means that we can’t be doing that just from the perspective of being diminished by this result.”

She continued: “One of the things that we will know is that perhaps six to eight million Australians are with us on this journey now.”

“We’re gonna have to stick together in the interest of moving this country forward,” she said.

“We’re going to have to bring that together and maintain that, because that is going to be the strength of what enables us to move forward in a way that is constructive and actually means that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people do start to live like equals in their own country.”

A referendum into reparations…
