Dot, what level of athletic performance are you trying to attain in what timeframe? How much time are you willing to put in every day? What is your level of fitness at the moment? Have you any physical impairments that restrict your movement? If your not freely perspiring for a minimum of 20 minutes before putting in maximun effort in bursts nothing much will change. If you don’t have adequate diet your body performance will deteriorate. Food is only fuel. High output requires high input.

A lot of plyometrics, ranga.

It requires a basal level of fitness most people do not attain, but can.

On top of that, an endurance event at the end of the year plus weekly winter sportsball. Sportsball is the worst. So many injuries. I couldn’t train for much of last year. Knees, ankle and cheekbone all healed up now.

Rubbish.

My dad 83, had a bad fall and been confined to bed for 5 weeks, could hardly walk and no chance of climbing up stairs of a mere 5 steps after.

With physio and exercises lasting only a few minutes at a time increasing every day as he progressed, never a sweat was raised and all pain avoided.

He is free to move now, can climb stairs, not the Empire State B of course and not like a 60 year old, but he is doing OK.

1980 when posted to Moorebank, we would knock off and leg it back to the lines/barracks to watch Monkey in someone’s room. Then it was off to the boozer for a ‘few beers’ before the ORs mess opened for tea.

1986 or 87, it was Mr Ed from 07:00-07:30. Hi-Ace with the Senior NCOs at about 07:25 getting a bit antsy/impatient waiting outside the lines for us ORs to head off to work.

Have the DVD set for Firefly.

I have started new book, romance genre again as that is biggest seller. I am using a story about the first time I saw original Artemisia Gentileschi paintings in The Palazzo Pitti . Now there was a true feminist maybe the first , who produced her first masterpiece as a teenager , raped, thumbscrews used on her by Vatican in the famous trial to allow her work to be shown,,married a deadbeat , four children in 4 years only one surviving and yet she still continued producing great paintings. She makes current feminists look p##s weak compare Australian of the Year in past years.
‘Lucretia ‘ on show in Hamilton Gallery at present . Anyway this story present day when heroine returns to Florence to restart her small group travel that closed during Covid a retired history teacher who like me fought to change female teachers’ rights sacked when they married and a third less pay than male counterpart . I changed professions afterwards to work for myself but did the travel bit for years part time. Plenty of experiences and stories to incorporate.

Top brass at NSW Plod identifies the real problem:

NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb has said sorry to the families of gay hate crime victims whose deaths were not properly investigated over a period of four decades.

Three months after a landmark special inquiry found police responses to victims and their families were often “indifferent, negligent, dismissive or even hostile”, the state’s top cop has issued a formal apology and said “mistakes of the past will not define our future”.

In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Commissioner Webb revealed she had set up an elite task force to go through the report and implement its recommendations and to give fresh eyes on unsolved homicides.

Could it be that these were the result of jealous partners? Like what we are seeing now with Beauuuuuu?

They’re as blue collar as you can get and all colours; which is why the demorats are so afraid of Trump: he is taking their slave base: if you don’t vote for me you ain’t black says the corrupt perverted corpse that dickless supports.

It is surreal that nominally intelligent lefties like dickless are such liars and removed from reality about Trump: more than any other politician he supports real ground based democracy; the demorats are simply corrupt elitists who care nothing for the plebs. I suppose that explains the psychology of dickless: he thinks he is superior and expects the slave classes to toe the line and pay due deference. Trump has given them a voice to express how shit stained the elites are.

James Campbell:

You could almost feel sorry for Albo. As sure as night follows day, going on one FM station to play Santa to a Taylor Swift fan would provoke another rival FM station to get him to play Scrooge.

On Wednesday the PM dropped by the Fitzy, Wippa and Kate breakfast show where he agreed to ring “Taliah” to “give her the news, which I reckon is pretty good news” that she would be off to Swift’s Sydney show. It was apparently such a big moment that his staff felt it would be a good idea to post it to the Prime Minister of Australia’s official social media account. Perhaps he was hoping to repeat the trick the next morning when he appeared with rivals Hughesy, Ed and Erin. Instead he was confronted by “Natalie” who begged him to give up his ticket. It was a tense moment for the leader of the nation. How would he answer?

(A) “Absolutely you can have it. Upon mature reflection I realise I’m a 60-year old bloke who shouldn’t be jumping on these sorts of bandwagons. In fact, not only can you have it, but I will make a solemn promise to the Australian people that I will stop embarrassing myself by calling Taylor Swift ‘Tay Tay’”.

(B) “Get nicked.”

(C) “Sorry but I can’t. I made poor Jodie sit there for hours with my credit card – at one point she had five screens open – and she’d kill me if we didn’t go.”

Obviously in reality there was no option C because, well, that would have required him to have actually paid for a ticket himself, so instead poor “Natalie” got a polite version of Get Nicked: “I am going on Friday night and I am a real Swifty.”

Maybe it’s because after listening to Swift’s back catalogue for the past week I reckon the filler-to-killer ratio on her records is pretty high, but I rather have my doubts about that.

Really Albo? Are you really a Swiftie? Is it not perhaps more the case that this was an “event” and if we’ve learned anything about our Prime Minister in the past year and half, it’s that in his mind there’s no show without Albo?

This isn’t a moral criticism.

It goes without saying that we journalists are pretty good ourselves at gobbling up free shit. No, my criticism, is how politically reckless it is. Is there nobody in this bloke’s office with the authority to say no?

Flying around the country from A-list event to A-list event – the Sydney Test Match today, the Australian Open Final tomorrow – might be OK for a minister, even an Opposition Leader. But somebody needs to get it into his head that when you get the top job, it’s not like finally achieving lifetime platinum plus Chairman’s Lounge membership with Qantas.

Sorry but if you’re the PM, different rules apply. If the punters decide this isn’t the Albanese Government they’ve got but the Albo-freebie Government, it won’t just be the PM but everyone in the show who suffers.

It’s clear, however, that almost two years into office and only weeks after he was roundly booed at the tennis, this hasn’t penetrated the Prime Minister’s skull. Either that or he thinks he’s so special the rules don’t apply to him.

How else can you explain the fact that, at the time of writing, Albo was due to back up his comped tix to Taylor in Sydney on Friday night with popping into a private Katy Perry concert at the Pratt family pad on Saturday night?

In a week’s time Labor faces a by-election test in the outer suburban Melbourne seat of Dunkley, which has been belted by the increases in the cost-of-living.

On Sunday, his elderly ears no doubt still ringing from two big gigs in two nights, he will presumably tell the voters he understands how they are doing it tough.

But if he holds a press conference and finds that instead of being asked about tax cuts, he’s being asked to say who was better – Taylor or Katy – he will have no one to blame but himself.

Fighting the Tories. An arsehole’s arsehole.

Senior public servants pocket second pay rise in 12 months, with an extra $50k
The West Australian
Sun, 25 February 2024 2:00AM
Comments
Dylan Caporn

Some of the State’s highest-paid public servants are set for a major pay rise, pocketing salary increases of up to $50,000 from the start of next month.

Already paid more than five times the salary of the average WA government worker, the high-ranking fat cats were quietly awarded the pay bumps by the independent Salaries and Allowances Tribunal at the start of February — their second raise in less than 12 months.

Under Treasurer Michael Barnes, Public Sector Commissioner Sharyn O’Neill, Premier and Cabinet director-general Emily Roper, Police Commissioner Col Blanch and Education boss Lisa Rodgers will all see their annual take-home pay skyrocket to almost $508,000.

That’s an increase of 8.5 per cent on their previous salary of $468,209.

Bosses at the departments of Communities, Justice and Transport will all see the salaries jump from $426,809 to $468,502 — a rise of 9.7 per cent.

The biggest winner in the determination was Department of Fire and Emergency Services commissioner Darren Klemm, whose salary will increase a whopping $52,786, from $376,234 to more than $429,000.

The pay increases kick in from March 1.

The Sunday Times understands the salary increases have been driven by remuneration for WA’s highest-level positions falling behind comparable interstate counterparts.

It is the second time the public servants have had a pay increase in the past 12 months, with all benefitting from the Government’s 3 per cent wages policy last June.

At the time, the tribunal flagged further increases to public-sector salaries amid trouble attracting and retaining staff.

A lot of hi vis vest work for the Premier for not a lot of actual work. Madura McCormack in the Courier Mail:

The state government will pour nearly $3bn into building a critical rail line into the heart of the Sunshine Coast but has conceded the cash will only get the tracks as far as Caloundra for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Premier Steven Miles will on Sunday unveil a long-awaited blueprint for the direct Sunshine Coast rail line, revealing the project will be built in three stages – from Beerwah to Caloundra, then Birtinya, before ending in Maroochydore.

Only the first section to Caloundra can be built in time for the 2032 Games, though this is contingent on the federal government coming on board with an extra $1.1bn on top of its existing $1.6bn commitment.

This is because a detailed business case has found Stage 1 will cost a whopping $5.5bn at least and up to $7bn at the highest end of estimates – more than double the $3.2bn initially earmarked by the Morrison government in 2022.

The state government will set aside $2.75bn – the same cost of demolishing and rebuilding the Gabba – as its share for Stage 1.

The cash will go toward building the 19km dual track from Beerwah to Caloundra and reserving the updated rail corridor all the way to Maroochydore.

There are no timelines for the delivery of stages 2 and 3. The detailed business case has been submitted to Infrastructure Australia.

The first section starting in Beerwah is set to include a stop in Nirimba to service Stockland’s sprawling Aura mega-development and its 50,000 future residents before ending in Caloundra about 3km from the town’s main beach.

But the ability to only get as far as Caloundra by 2032 means the rail line stops short of getting to Kawana, where the closest proposed venues are.

Proposed venues for the 2032 Games within the Sunshine Coast zone are in Kawana, Alexandra Headland, and Parklands with the satellite athletes’ village located in Maroochydore.

The direct Sunshine Coast rail line is expected to shave 45 mins off travel from Brisbane to Caloundra compared to driving, with trains to go as fast as 140km/h in some sections of the full line.

Mr Miles said the project, including stage 1, would unlock “thousands of homes” and accelerate new developments.

“Without the rail line, that development would bring an unmanageable level of congestion to the local road network, making this connection essential for new housing to be brought forward,” he said.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said he “looked forward to the federal government hopping on board to match our commitment” so the project can be delivered.

The $2.75bn funding commitment marks the first firm contribution to the project from the state government after years of the critical rail line being marred in political sniping.

The Morrison government in its final budget in 2022 allocated $1.6bn to the rail line in a proposed 50-50 funding split with the state, with then-Transport Minister Mark Bailey refusing to match the commitment, citing flimsy maths.

While the detailed business case continued per schedule, the project’s federal funding became increasingly precarious, with the Albanese government failing to mention the rail line in its initial budget.

An audit of the nation’s infrastructure pipeline in 2023 then led to the federal government controversially putting the project on ice indefinitely, before ultimately reaffirming the cash was available to build the rail line upon lobbying from the state.

Infrastructure Minister Catherine King, in November last year, signalled updated estimates had the price tag for the project at “three times higher, billions of dollars higher than has been previously stated”.

The detailed business case for the direct Sunshine Coast rail line has determined a slight realignment of the corridor, which has been set aside since 2001, will be needed.

According to the state government the realignment aims to minimise environmental impact and reduce curves in the line to allow for faster train speeds.

Whenever big infrastructure shit is mentioned by Labor, always multiply the estimate cost by 3 as well as the timeframe. FMD

Of course, now their East Coast counterparts will claim that they run far bigger departments, so 10% pay rise.

Campbell: Is a show even a show if Albo isn’t in audience?

With his elderly ears no doubt still ringing from two big gigs in two nights, how can Anthony Albanese tell voters he understands how they are doing it tough, asks James Campbell.

Three options presented themselves:

The direct Sunshine Coast rail line is expected to shave 45 mins off travel from Brisbane to Caloundra compared to driving, with trains to go as fast as 140km/h in some sections of the full line.

For some reason, the already funded straightening and dual track between Elimbah and Nambour seems to have stalled. Strangely all the preliminary roadworks and new car parks for stage 1 (Elimbah – Landsborough) have long been completed, but I haven’t seen a single survey peg for anything in the rail corridor itself.

SS Nemesis shipwreck discovery sparks call for relatives of lost crew
The accidental discovery of a ship lost at sea 120 years ago has solved one of Sydney’s most enduring mysteries. There is a search now on for the relatives of the crew.

Linda Silmalis
Chief Reporter
25 Feb 2024

Exclusive: A 120-year-old mystery about the plight of a coal ship and its 32 crew which disappeared off the NSW coast in a storm has been solved following the accidental discovery of its wreck.

The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that the remains of a 73m long vessel, stumbled upon on the ocean floor off the Kembla coast by a company searching for lost cargo containers, has been identified as the SS Nemesis.

The NSW government has now issued a global call-out for the UK, Canadian and Australian relatives of the lost crew, who left behind about 40 children.

Extensive coverage of the Nemesis’ disappearance in Sydney newspapers at the time reveal how the ship – under the control of Captain Lusher – had left Newcastle on July 8, 1904, for Melbourne with a hold full of coke and coal when it ran into a southerly gale.

The vessel – which also operated as a Sydney cargo ship and was used during the 1890s gold rushes – was last sighted near Wollongong by the crew of another ship, which had also been caught in the storm.

Distress rockets were later observed off Port Hacking in Sydney’s south before “several bodies” and wreckage such as a steering wheel began washing ashore at Cronulla beach over the following days.

Despite extensive searches the main body of the ship could never be located.

A century later, remote sensing company Subsea Professional Marine Services, which had been looking for lost cargo, reported seeing on sonar equipment a shipwreck on the ocean floor about 26km offshore.

It noted the wreck was 160m underwater, a find that immediately suggested it could be the lost Nemesis.

Underwater imagery of the undisturbed wreck taken by the CSIRO and compared with historical photographs and sketches of the vessel further pointed to the Nemesis.

The imagery also revealed clues as to why the ship sank that night, with “catastrophic damage” to the bow and stern suggesting it had been struck by a large wave which overwhelmed the engine. It is believed she sank too quickly for the lifeboats to be deployed.

Describing the loss of the Nemesis as “one of Sydney’s most enduring maritime mysteries”, Environment and Heritage Minister Penny Sharpe said its discovery would now bring closure for the relatives of the lost crew.

“The loss of Nemesis has been described as one of Sydney’s most enduring maritime mysteries and has even been described by shipwreck researchers as the holy grail,” she said.

“Thanks to collaborative work with CSIRO and Subsea, using modern technology and historical records, Heritage NSW has been able to write the final chapter of SS Nemesis’ story.

“It is believed that around 40 children lost their parents in this wreck and I hope this discovery brings closure to families and friends connected to the ship who have never known its fate.”

Ed Korber, from Subsea Professional Marine Services, said he was glad the families of the crew would now get answers as to what happened to the ship.

How good would have the F-108 been? Cool design. Did the F-15 make it redundant?
Mach 3 interceptor designed to shoot down incoming Russian supersonic bombers at high altitude. A lot of commonality with the XB_70 bomber. Then it was realised that SAMS would likely take these down and the high altitude attacks weren’t going to happen.
No real comparison to the F-15 which incorporated the hard lessons over North Vietnam and was originally designed to be an air superiority fighter. The F-15 was much later design than the F-108.

Posobiec was referring to the Jan 6 demorat form of democracy: he went on to say about the demorat’s form of democracy:

The “winner take all” nature of state electoral colleges means any third wheel kills the main candidate who leans their way.
Example … Ralph Nader.
Pulled 3 million votes in a very close election in 2000.
Head to head between Gore and Bush it went down to 500 votes in Florida.
Nader got 97,000 votes.
Under a preferential system (or if Nader hadn’t run) a good number of that 97,000 would have still turned out, and broken heavily towards Gore.

Can’t declare bankruptcy for the seventh time on this one.

Trump has never declared bankruptcy you dickless turd. He has been part of 4 Chapter 11s.

As to engoron’s Judgment Trump was not guilty under 63:12 because there was no victim or quantified loss. What the weirdo judge did was base his calculated damages on the fact Trump was a favoured client of the banks and had lower or recourse interest rates. Engoron worked out the difference between recourse rates and normal lender rates This difference between the interests rates was then applied to both the banks profits and Trump’s savings on the different interest rates based on the values of Trump’s assets which Trump and the banks agreed upon but which engoron and the fat kunt letitia claimed were over valuations. So engoron based his damages on valuations which were the basis of the charges against Trump!

In other words Engoron did what he claimed Trump had done.

Now he’s down half a billion and has to pay up pronto, unless he wants Letitia to start claiming his properties.

I also see now that 60% of Haley’s primary voters say they won’t vote for Trump in the general. Hmm let’s see, that’s 60% of 40%, that means potentially over 20% of Trump’s dwindling number of voters will stay home in November.

National polls mean diddly squat at this stage. Give me the results of actual elections. In those, Trump has lost bigly ever since 2016, and Biden has been smashing the opposition for the last four years.

Regarding Filipinas, wife has a carer from there on a student visa. She has done various health related courses but is in danger of being deported.
Wants desperately to do nursing. We desperately need nurses.

Sorry, Morsie. The Liars desperately need a replacement electorate and Christian Filipinas don’t fit the bill, especially if they’re hard workers replacing professionals in short supply.

The Liars’ desperately needed replacement electorate includes the 2200+ “Palestinians” from Gaza, whose Australian entry visas were rushed through in 24 hours or less.

The added benefit of the “Palestinians” is they come pre-programmed to launch terrorist attacks against the Liars’ political enemies, such as the Stupid Frigging Liberals. Plus they’re lazy and addicted to welfare, which means they’ll be eternally grateful to their rescuers and will restrict the muslim no-go zones in Australia to Arabic-speaking ghettoes in Western Sydney, with only occasional armed incursions to downtown Martin Place, etc, to explain to Jews (with the support of NSW Plod) that they’re no longer welcome in Australia.

On an irregular trip today to Dan Murphy’s – the Australian beer, wine and spirits price leader – to buy a six-pack of beer (I normally buy it by the slab), the price had jumped from $17 to $21, thanks to an increase in federal excise tax.

By my calculation, that means Australian beer taxes are now around 50% of the retail price – among the highest (if not THE highest) in the world.

And I notice that slabs are now $50+ when they were $43 at Dan’s five minutes ago.
