… outspoken Indigenous senator Lidia Thorpe …

It’s interesting how she’s described as outspoken rather than controversial, radical, or divisive, isn’t it?

The adjectives the media attaches to various individuals says a lot about who the elite demands be stigmatised.

The childishness of republicanism

Lidia Thorpe’s outburst is no reflection of Australian attitudes towards the King

Poor Lydia, friendless ..

Not if you read the letters column of the Spencer Street Stürmer. Plenty of mates & fellow travelers there twisting themselves into pretzels trying to justify Lidia’s freedom of speech and truth telling, differentiating it from other forms of hate speech & “misinformation” they want to ban.

Or sanctified.

I remember when the media used to call KKK a “staunch Catholic” at the time when she was gratuitously advising the Pope on how to accommodate RCism to feminism.

Famous last words from military history.

“War may begin in the Pacific at any moment. But I want you to know that, no matter what happens, the United States Navy is ready. Every man is at his post, every ship is at its station. The Navy is ready. Whatever happens, the Navy is got going to be caught napping.”

Sectary of the Navy (Of the United States), at a small dinner party, in honor of Vice President Henry Wallace, 4th December, 1941….

And in the synoptic Gospels, mostly at the expense of the disciples.

Well yes, this does not surprise me. Jesus, Saul and the disciples were all, of course, Jews. I reckon they all laughed a lot, and cried as well.

I once heard a rabbi say that whilst we Jews have 613 commandments, that number is not quite correct, because the truth is that we have 614 commandments. So what is that 614th commandment?

To laugh

To laugh is a mitzvah in Judaism.

Regardless of the outcome of tomorrow’s Queensland state election, I see no cause for celebration. Win or lose, both major parties will continue on the same trajectory they’ve been unicycling for the past decade: sacrificing the quality of life of the vast majority for the benefit of one cult or another. Only a hefty star picket (used in fencing) thrust between the spokes will change the direction both political viruses are heading in.

OMG, I’ve just seen Johannes Leak’s cartoon for tomorrow’s Oz. It has made me gasp. No doubt Tom will post it in the morning. Leak’s cartoon doesn’t flinch, it is a scathing, blistering, withering, brilliant, and devastating critique of this quisling, spineless, putrid and craven federal government.

To be fair to King Charles, he has probably been witness to more natives in grass skirts and pelts putting on a show than most of us have had hot dinners. Lydia hardly seems to have rocked the boat in that sense. In terms of ancestry, she is descended from that great Aboriginal warrior princess Bringamongalong, scourge of the white devil. I for one sincerely hope she occupies centre stage for as long as possible.

Now, back to more important matters involving booze.
