Trouble at mill

The Tories are not united on the eve of COP.

With just over a week to go before Boris Johnson hosts the largest ever gathering of world leaders in Britain, tensions are rising and tempers fraying in Downing Street.

The prime minister is said to be “irritated” by Alok Sharma, the man he appointed to chair the Cop26 conference in Glasgow — and the feeling appears to be mutual.

Those around Johnson suggest that the “bookish” Sharma doesn’t grasp the politics of the meeting and how it could backfire domestically. Those around Sharma are frustrated at No 10 for hyping expectations around what the two weeks of negotiations will achieve.

Amusing headline at WSJ just now:

Energy-Stock Surge Leaves Climate-Focused Investors Behind (24 Oct)

Literally dozens of electricity retailers in the UK have gone bankrupt this year already, because of of unreliable wind energy. When governments finally lose interest in renewable energy, and remove subsidies because they’ve run out of other people’s money, the crash is going to be epic.

There is no doubt what the sanctimonious morons will “achieve”. The accelerated destruction of the West and rise of the Chicoms.

Keeping in touch with what the enemy is saying, I saw this headline in the Age this morning:

Why net zero by 2050 is good but not good enough

https://www.theage.com.au/environment/climate-change/why-net-zero-by-2050-is-good-but-not-good-enough-20211025-p592v0.html – written by an associate perfesser

Sorry, you’ll have to be more specific – which one, exactly?

This doesn’t add up – No. 10 is both hyping the conference but at the same time worried about the domestic backlash?

No wonder Boris doesn’t seem to know whether he’s coming or going.

No wonder Boris doesn’t seem to know whether he’s coming or going.

He’s acting like someone with his mind elsewhere, there is a term for it, associated with the word ‘struck’, but I’m far too polite to elaborate on that. No-one but someone emotionally wrapped up with a very deep green partner could have so embarassingly have made that disastrous speech recently about Green is Good. He was almost pleading for the Greenie points with it.
