I don’t quite get something about the story of the little girl. I think I read the cops had CCTV footage of a car hightailing it out of the camping area

poking around google satellite, – there’s what looks like a salt pond with some sort of infrastructure right next to the main road. Wouldn’t be surprised if all such things have security cams on them.

3. The job takes as long as it takes. Perth brass knob jockeys would have immediately thought ‘Madeleine McCann’ and screamed for A RESULT, as of an hour before they said it. If you fuck something up, best case is you allow a wormhole for the crook to get through months or years later. Acting alone? No? Motive? Psychological state (for court, later)?

4. They would have had a line on this bloke within 24 hours, I reckon, and had not only his phone but everyone he’s ever contacted through that phone in the last 12 months up in lights. Panzer’s right with the Bayley job some years back, though – although I will say Bayley was a likely for that job anyway.

5. Because it’s not CSI and all over in 45 minutes, this sort of thing requires actually speaking to people. A decent witness statement for a job like this can take six hours or more. Then you (apparently) make your enquiries on the strength of that and other statements, and when you find a discrepancy you go back and you go over it again with those people, and other people if necessary, and you watch them carefully while they’re doing it, and you use your instinct if you’re good enough.

They may well have had a statement taken off the crook early in the piece, before he firmed up as the crook.

6. Parallel enquiries. While digging through garbage in Perth (ostensibly and publicly saying they were looking for a body, which is an excellent tactic if you want the crook watching the news back in Carnarvon to breathe a sigh of relief, perhaps to the point where he reckons buying nappies won’t be a problem) the jacks should have been firming him up.

7. Reasons. Namely, judgment calls of the detectives on the ground and running the job. I think they may well have known this girl was alive for a week or more, thanks to waaaay more than one informer. Once they’d seen him buying nappies and kiddie food, they may have slowed an extra day to make the job absolutely watertight.

Then, after you’ve been watching the joint for a week, you kick the door in at the time the crook is most likely to be either zedding out or passed out.

Easy peasy, Carnarvonesey. People take too much stock of TV shows, and never think of what lies ahead after a pinch. In this case there must have been enough to suggest the girl was relatively unharmed, and not likely to come to said harm so they nailed the job down before tapping the bloke.

Not a simple job, though. Small towns don’t like giving their secrets up.

Allegedly.

According to one of our WO instructors on my Regimental Officers course who went on a few there were even junkets about where rank insignia was to be worn on the new Auscam field uniforms.

Thanks for the insights re the Cleo Smith case, KD. Like most people, I assumed the police work was over when the arrest was made. Too much “48 H0urs” and “CSI”.

There was a hint that the kidnapper might be an indig when the Police Commissioner said in his press conference this morning telling the people of Carnarvon that “this was the actions of one man, and we all need to stand together”.

Usually code for “stand by for riots”, particularly given recent events involving police in nearby Geraldton.

Pedro, a bloke I am acquainted with swears by the adage that an arrest and/or confession is the start of an investigation, not the end – if for no other reason than if your confession, however righteously obtained, is blown out of the water by a court packed with dunderheads, then you have nothing.

You (apparently) must continue as though you never had the admissions in the first place. It’s the only way to get it right in the end.

I think this one relied on informers too.

Of course it did. I think.

It is no secret that on certain jobs, the jacks will release certain things to the public to generate conversation in the right areas.

For example, and this should in no way relate to the Carnarvon job, but hypothetically – if the jacks were to say ‘there was CCTV footage of a white car’ then two things will happen:

1. Exactly what happened here. Discussion about where any CCTV footage would be, what quality it was, and all sorts of other rabbit holes; and
2. The actual crook, who remains firmly in the frame, thinks ‘they’re not looking for my little red car’ and relaxes a bit. Which is exactly what the jacks want.

Informers are like red headed chicks. Either 10/10 or 0/10, and you can never have enough of them.

Sorry to harp back to the Virginia election… But came across something interesting. As the vote was passing through 70/80/90% McAuliffe was closing the gap and at one stage was less than 60K votes behind. At that point though, Youngkin moved out ahead again.

Well… apparently: Republicans held back reporting from their three most favourable counties Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and.Chesterfield. They dropped these (which explained the Youngkin increase) and the Dems (and networks) conceded.

This should be a tactic that may need to be looked at. Pass a law that all the votes drop simultaneously. No chance of then manufacturing deficit overcoming numbers.

Led by EU and AUKUS dreamers, they destroy reliable energy from coal, oil, nuclear, gas and hydro while forcing us to subsidise net-negative dreams like solar, wind, wave-power, CCUS, hot rocks, pumped hydro and hydrogen.

All such speculative ventures should be funded by speculators, not taxpayers.

COP-Out-26 illustrates to the realists of China, Russia, India and Brazil that the West has lost its marbles and is in terminal decline.

For Scott Morrison to surrender Australia to these green wolves betrays an army of miners, farmers, truckies and workers in primary, secondary and tertiary industries that support him and his Canberra pack.

The fakery of COP-Out-26 is well illustrated by the provision of diesel generators to recharge the batteries of 26 electric cars provided for show in Glasgow. But that’s OK “because the diesels are run on recycled chip fat”.

Horses and covered wagons would be more reliable and appropriate and dried horse manure could cook their fake meat on their green, chip-fired barbeques.

Neither EU nor AUKUS green dreamers can run their world on energy plans drafted by neurotic school girls, clueless Princes, deluded accountants like Ross Garnaut or serial climate alarmists like David Attenborough.

China loves Net-Zero, using its growing coal power to manufacture the wind turbines, solar panels, electric engines and rare earth batteries for the Woke-World.

But the subsidy tap feeding green energy development in the Western world will run dry. Fake energy will fade away leaving a continent of jobless people with silent mills, refineries and factories.

Our land will be littered with derelict windmills, decaying solar panels, dead batteries and sagging transmission lines to be cleaned up in order to restore our land to productive grasslands, crops and forests.

Those huge concrete bases of abandoned wind towers will become permanent obstacles to restoration of this land.Next we will see digital carbon-credit cards designed by green academics to ration our energy and food usage to achieve their Net-Zero Nirvana.

A bleak future beckons.

Scott Morrison and his team should boycott this final futile COP-Out-26.

Barnaby Joyce should hang his head in shame – I know that he knows better.

I don’t think Anal is subject to section 44 because while his father may have been Italian lineage as to citizenship is with the mother, Italy changed that in 1948. I will gladly be corrected if that is not the correct situation.

Let’s see if Matthew Guy has learned anything at all from the demise of his predecessor, Whatsisname (the Hun):

Car-crash MP Tim Smith has lost his most important Liberal Party allies after two “train wreck” interviews in which he contradicted himself several times over his drink-drive smash.

More questions have been raised about what the MP was doing in the lead-up to Saturday’s incident when he careered into a child’s bedroom wall in Hawthorn, as police probe whether to lay further charges.

Furious colleagues accused the 38-year-old of “treating us all as if we’re stupid” after his two media appearances on Wednesday during which he refused to walk away from state politics – in defiance of Opposition Leader Matthew Guy.

I don’t know what the coin is for that gig. Perhaps the networks are a bigger lure:

After issuing a statement on Sunday saying he had been at a dinner and didn’t think he was over the limit, Mr Smith on Wednesday morning claimed he had just “a couple” of wines before getting behind the wheel of his Jaguar. He also said he hadn’t eaten all day.

Sources close to the event rubbished his claims, saying he had been “smashing cocktails” with a small group of people at the home of a prominent QC before he recorded a blood-alcohol level of 0.131, almost three times the legal limit. By his midday interview, he was saying he had “quite a few glasses of wine”.

Please let that QC be Burnside.

“As for him dragging it out, he doesn’t have the ability to make Tim see reason,” one source said. “For Tim, it’s all about Tim. Matthew Guy is hoping that at some stage the penny will drop.”

No, Matthew. No, no no.

You don’t ‘hope the penny drops’. You publicly bare the fangs, ram that penny down Smith’s throat with the aid of a broomstick, and then kick him in the nuts until it comes back up again.

Until that happens, you’ll have demonstrated that you’re just another soft-handed go-along-to-get-along nancy man.

Democrat Tricks in New Jersey Governor’s Race – Republican Winning Largest County with 100% of Votes Counted Then Vote Flips and Democrat Miraculously Wins County

calli
calli
November 4, 2021 7:56 am

From rosie’s Guardian link:

The first and most important takeaway of the governor’s race is that this is normal. Without a major crisis like 9/11, the party in power will always lose ground in elections like this. It’s as close to an ironclad law as there is.

Riiiight…

So a global pandemic and the introduction of forced inoculations, lockdowns and the spectre of vaccination passports isn’t a “crisis”.

Thanks for that clarification.

Republican Glenn Youngkin found a powerful coded way to stoke white racial fears and anxiety with his attacks on critical race theory. Democratic Terry McAuliffe refused to forcefully refute the racist message and thereby let white voters off the hook. All this in the state where slavery started and the Confederacy based its capital.

Hard to read this nonsensical piece of race-baiting sh*t without gagging. The halfwit who wrote it must think aliens abducted all the righteous people of Virginia and replaced them with antebellum drones.

But these same people have been filling my inbox with agonized stories about school administrators and teachers pushing a contentious racialized ideology on their children – which in many cases they were able to witness in person as classes moved online during the pandemic.

This ideology wasn’t critical race theory per se, in the sense that students weren’t reading original CRT texts.

No, no! It wasn’t real CRT! It was just what the teachers said it was. Bullsh*t on stilts.

Face it, Guardian inksters. The Dems stink. The President is illegitimate and widely loathed. The people know it. The Dems failed this time to cheat enough to get their (and your) man over the line.

No amount of “but Trumping” is going to change that.

On Virginia, from the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund president Jenny Beth Martin

“Glenn Youngkin’s success in the bellwether counties shows that a strong conservative agenda can lead to victory. Too often, the media has a false narrative that conservative Republicans are less electable than moderate Republicans. The opposite is true, and we see that in Virginia. Youngkin’s agenda of standing for individual liberty and against mask and vaccine mandates, and putting parents back in charge of their children’s education, cut across partisan lines and energized not just conservatives, but Independent voters and even some Democrats. Youngkin’s big win, especially in the bellwether counties, holds important lessons for 2022 and beyond.”

McCaullife fumbled, in fact he may have been in league with Trump. Trump, Trump, Trump, God I love Orange Man Bad.

Youngkin is a religious bigot who will use the state to abduct women and steal their uteruses to implant religious Christian nutter seed The only religious bigotry in this election came from the left, with their sacred religious tenets of CRT and sinister transgender gunk….which helped Youngkin win because he dared to assert that parents have a right to know what their children are being taught in schools and that there might be something wrong with a school board’s policy which allows a boy to put on a dress, walk into a girl’s bathroom and rape a girl and then cover it up…whatever happened to “believe all women”?

For the serious Faithful – and anyone else who wants to join in – a request from Fr Pius Noonan OSB, Prior of Notre Dame monastery in Tasmania

Dear friends,

There is no doubt we are living in troubled times. In these dark days it appears good is considered evil and evil, good. Let us not despair, but rather remain at the feet of Our Lord, as did His blessed Mother, fortified by prayer and fasting.

For those of you who are able, united with the monks of the Priory of Notre Dame, we invite you to join us in a triduum of prayer and fasting, commencing on Thursday 4th Nov and finishing on the first Saturday of the month, Saturday 6th Nov.

In addition to the three days of fasting, each day we we’ll be praying St Mother Theresa’s Irresistible/Emergency Novena, which consists of 9 consecutive Memorares and a tenth in thanksgiving.

Our petitions will be:
For an immediate end to the vaccine mandates in Australia.
For consolation and assistance to those who have lost jobs or are about to lose their jobs.
For the conversion of the hearts and minds of our prelates, politicians and legislators and a healing of the division in our nation.
For the courage and fortitude to hold fast to our faith, no matter the consequences.
Any private intentions you or your families may have.

For those unable to observe a strict fast for three days for whatever reason, a lighter fast, eg. no eating between meals, no chocolate/desserts or some other mortification will of course suffice! The important thing is that we are all united in prayer on the same days for the same intentions, and fast according to the demands of our state in life.

Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid.

-Hebrews 4:16

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious
Virgin Mary, that never was
it known that anyone who
fled to thy protection, implored thy
help or sought thy intercession was
left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly to thee,
O Virgin of Virgins and
my Mother; to thee I
come, before thee I kneel,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but
in thy mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen

From the Oz…

“Broadcaster Alan Jones to depart to Sky News Australia

Broadcaster Alan Jones has announced on Thursday he is departing Sky News Australia.

The 80-year-old revealed in a lengthy statement released on his Facebook page that in a meeting last week with his employer he received an offer but it was one he did not wish to pursue.

His last show will be on Thursday which means his departure comes about three weeks before his contract was due to end at Sky at the end of this month.

In his statement Jones explained his departure and said: “Sky News have indicated to me that they will not renew my contract, which ends on November 30.”

“At a meeting on Friday, October 29 I wasn’t offered another slot with Sky News, but an alternative offer was made to me to appear once a week on the news streaming service, Flash,” he said.

“I declined that offer.”

He went on to explain that his ratings performances have been scrutinised, describing them as “an erratic beast”.

“When I arrived at Sky News and signed to a 17 month contract, it was made quite clear to me that the 8PM slot was, in the words of management, a “dead” spot,” Jones said.

He went on to explain his success on digital platforms including one US election post he did which reached 4.2 million people on Facebook and delivered 2.4 million video views.

Jones also noted another observation that said, “since the launch of Alan Jones on Sky News Australia, the network has seen major growth across its digital platforms”.

New & improved business newsletter. Get the edge with AM and PM briefings, plus breaking news alerts in your inbox.

Alan Jones joined Sky News Australia as a host in 2013 of political discussion show Richo + Jones, alongside former ALP powerbroker Graham Richardson.

He went on to anchor Jones & Co in 2016 before hosting his own program, Alan Jones from 2020 which airs Mondays to Thursdays at 8pm.

Sky News Australia chief executive officer Paul Whittaker said he respected Jones’ decision to depart the network.

“Regrettably Alan has decided not to accept a new role that was offered to him for next year,” he said.

“We respect his decision and know he will be missed by many.

“Alan has contributed greatly to Sky News Australia over the years, advocating without fear or favour on the issues important to many Australians.”

In 2020 Jones departed Nine Entertainment’s Sydney radio station 2GB despite his $8m two-year contract not ending until June 30 this year.

Nine paid out his full contract at the time, even though he exited with another 13 months to run on his deal.

During his tenure at 2GB, Jones notched up a record-breaking 226 consecutive breakfast radio survey wins and his popular breakfast program also broadcast into Queensland on station 4BC.

In July Jones told The Australian he was considering his options given his Sky News contract was ending in November and she he would consider all offers received.

Mr Whittaker thanked Jones for his “commendable dedication and service” to Sky.

White Supremacy. What a load of bulltish.

Has it ever really existed? The most famously cited exponents, the Nazis, were not really. They believed a sub-group they called Aryans were ordained by nature to rule the world. Sure the Aryans were supposed to be white, but so to were a lot of the subject races. Slavs and Jews, for starters. They hated Black people as well, but did not devote much attention to them because there were so few in Europe. The Nazis were actually obsessing about the hierarchy within white races, not the status of white people over non-whites.

Who else? The Klan? Well once again they seemed to hate White people too. They loathed uppity Blacks. But they could tolerate deferential Blacks, but Jews and Catholics could never be tolerated. So they saw blacks as inferior, but other whites as malicious. In any event they will have seen white people as above black people, but not all White people were among the elect. Besides, let’s face it. The KKK was a scarcely articulated outburst in response to the Civil War, not a thread of history. It did not arise from a pedigree of white supremacy. Just discontented moronic peasantry who were convinced they should be lords, or fallen antebellum aristocracy who thought they should be kings.

An orgy of ego-wound licking.

Most of European history shows White people fighting, conquering, and subjecting other white people. And within nations they were more interested in the hierarchy of White people over other White people. The possibility of White Supremacy is only late. When some lowly tenant had been humiliated by his Lord of the Manor he did not tell himself, “At least I am better than a Black guy!” or look for some Asian to deflect blame to. Hell, ‘race’ was probably unknown to him. But he was sure the people a couple of villages over were lazy, dishonest skinflints who would borrow an ox and work it near to death.

It has only been in the last few hundred years when Black people were a race rather than a novelty. The great sin of slavery (where Europeans cashed in on the slave trade already in Africa but on a grander scale) was driven by economics. Not because black people were inferior, but because they were cheaper than white people. Without slaves they would move straight back to white people (and black – whoever was cheaper) just as they had profited from white people for centuries. And the contempt of the ruling elite was for anyone below them, regardless of colour. Economic supremacy.

But even if there were people motivated by a belief that all black people were inferior to all white people by default (not simply sharing lower rungs with them) then were they a movement? Were they the spirit of an age? I doubt it. From the get go White people were trying to convert Black people to their own faith and their own God. They believed that God wanted them to do that, that God saw them as his Children too. And from the beginning the main current of Europeans was to elevate black people toward equality, and save them from less scrupulous White people. Does that sound like White Supremacy?

It is all just so much bollocks.

That would be the “electoral thresher” where he increased his vote.

Cher should have been keelhauled on (and under) the USS Missouri after that excremental film clip.

Seemed fair enough that she did it on the Missouri.

The ship was old, had already been declared past its prime once and decommissioned. Brought back for a final outing and then allowed to retire.

Cher might have learned a lot from that ship.

When those ships were recommissioned, the armchair commandos were emphatic. The specialist skills, necessary to man those ships, had been lost forever. At the same time, the United States Navy received hundreds, if not thousands, of letters from veterans offering their services – including those who declared that, even if they were too old to go to sea, they could still train those who would…

Apparently financial institutions “give” fossil fuel companies money.

This is kindergarten economics.

Australian fossil fuel projects given $36.7bn in foreign public financing over a decade
Renewable energy received $3.3bn in the same period between 2010 and 2020 but researchers say that gap has narrowed
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/nov/04/australian-fossil-fuel-projects-given-367bn-in-foreign-public-financing-over-a-decade

Public financial institutions overseas, including export credit agencies, poured $36.7bn into Australian fossil fuel projects over a decade, according to new research.

The report, by a group of environmental groups including Jubilee Australia and the Australian Conservation Foundation*, found this was 11 times more than the amount directed to renewable energy, which received $3.3bn between 2010 and 2020.

..
Tim Buckley of the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis said pressure was building on countries to end capital subsidies for fossil fuels.

“My number one issue is the constant refrain from the Morrison government that fossil fuels are a low-cost source of energy and that renewables aren’t as cost-effective,” he said.

“If they were so viable, why does an industry that has been around for centuries still need subsidies?”**

But he said the amount of global public finance directed toward fossil fuels had diminished in the past two years, with a shift towards investment in renewables.

“I expect that trend to continue,” he said.***

“But the question is why is anyone still providing literally billions in capital subsidies to coal, oil and gas?”****
…..
*In crayon, on butchers paper?
** Because the government that renew-balls to the stage where the lights go out will lose the next election.
*** Much wow, big prediction… Based on governments legislating away the basics of power generation such as base load.
**** Guaranteed returns, the ability to hive off huge amounts of royalties, economic activity and its downstream effects…

White Supremacy. What a load of bulltish.

Superb comment ML and it should be a thread of its own. DB, can you post this as a stand alone thread?

Besides, let’s face it. The KKK was a scarcely articulated outburst in response to the Civil War, not a thread of history. It did not arise from a pedigree of white supremacy. Just discontented moronic peasantry who were convinced they should be lords, or fallen antebellum aristocracy who thought they should be kings.

Fact check: TRUE. Originally the Klan was born out of an economic response to the emancipation…..when poor whites in the south were worried about work with the influx of newly emancipated blacks. It had nothing to do with race. It doesn’t make the “Klan” respectable or nice but you have to understand history and why things happened……..but sadly we now live in a time when history and facts are ignored because it has to suit a narrative. And the bottom line is that the Klan was to the Democrat party of old what Antifa is now to the Democrat party in 2021……they operate as paramilitary wings to push particular narrative and they use violence to do it.

The superb Neil Oliver had a documentary a few years ago called “Who Put the Klan Into Ku Klux Klan”.

Republicans hate black people. Of course, which explains why Winsome Sears is now the GOP lieutenant governor-elect of Virginia and the first woman of colour to hold that position……..Winsome is soooooo representative of all that seething white supremacy in Virginia!

It was very heartening to watch Winsome and her family and supporters, all black and proud, take the Republican stage, and to listen to her recount her experiences of education as the way forward and the Civil Rights history as the ongoing salvation for black people in America. She ended on a note of firm Christianity, thanking Jesus. So many of America’s white Christian families as well as the many black ones would have been there with her on that. Christianity does not see colour.

The good things about America and the proud culture of its people are not all lost, not yet.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/nov/03/rust-armorer-laywer-suggests-sabotage-baldwin-live-round
A lawyer for the armorer who oversaw weapons used on the Rust movie set suggested on Wednesday that someone deliberately put a live round into the gun used by Alec Baldwin when he accidentally shot dead a cinematographer.

Jason Bowles said his client, Hannah Gutierrez, had pulled ammunition from a box that she believed contained only dummy rounds that were incapable of firing. He said he thought it was possible that someone purposely placed real bullets, which look similar to dummies, into the box.

“We’re afraid that could have been what happened here, that somebody intended to sabotage this set with a live round intentionally placed in a box of dummies,” Bowles said on ABC television’s Good Morning America.

“We’re not saying anybody had any intent there was going to be a tragedy of homicide,” he added, “but they wanted to do something to cause a safety incident on set. That’s what we believe happened.”

Italy’s suspected covid death tally corrected from 132,161 to 3,783… this is where covid hysteria began, and it was 97% FICTION”

When this first started, in February 2020, I was berated by a women in surgical scrubs – she worked at the local health centre – for my statement that a figure of ‘Covid’ Deaths of 700+ in Northern Italy being broadcast by Australian MSM was, in fact, rubbish. That view was proved a few weeks later when the Italian Ministry of Health released a report stating the true figure for dying of Covid was less than 3% of that figure. Even that 3% was high to me but it turns out the figures were due to 1) all the deaths being of elderly people and 2) in that area, due to long term historical air pollution due to heavy industry, most elderly people had reduced lung and immune system function.

This was know and reported and the deaths were nothing out of of the ordinary for a Northern Italian flu season. Yet this woman, in scrubs, was vitriolic in her response to my stating a since proven fact. This has been the case all the way through the scamdemic.

And so it continues. The lies, the deceit, the fudging of figures for political purposes. In Australia and around the world.

White Supremacy. What a load of bulltish.

Mustn’t forget about the indentured whites … something like 250-300K whites came to the US bound in involuntary servitude [war prisoners etc] or as voluntarily indentured. These were not treated much better than the black slaves, and arguably some were treated worse for the simple reason that the southern slaves were assets for life # whereas the indentured had to be released after the term of their indenture and so were worked very hard to get the maximum out of them… and a lot did not survive the indenture.

Those convicts and indentured coming to Australia were nothing more than those previously sent to the US pre Independence being re-directed …

[# Just as an aside – the first blacks arriving were governed by the usual indenture rules and were released after 7 years of servitude. It was only some time later the southern states changed the law and enabled servitude for life, (and why there were so many free blacks in the north …) ]
