Good News Everybody!

The banks are here to help with the multi-trillion dollar transition to carbon neutrality by 2050!

Commonwealth Bank head of institutional banking and markets Andrew Hinchliff said there was a wall of funds looking to finance the transition, not just because it was the moral and ethical thing to do but also for the business opportunity.

“There’s a whole lot of problems associated with why we’re here at zero interest rates, but one of the beautiful things is that there’s a lot of very, very cheap money in the system so the world can more readily afford the capital expenditure for the necessary investment,” Mr Hinchliff told The Weekend Australian.

Borrow a wall of money at near zero interest rates, invest in loss-making green schemes, and then the interest rates go up. Lets see who are the winners and losers in that game!

    give me the money!

Subsidy farming and ticket clipping is always the easiest way to make money, especially if the marks get a religious tickle up their leg as you take their money.

That sounds like the plot for Mel Brooks’ classic movie, “The Producers”. ( The original 1960’s version, NOT the later rehash).

“Bring in some investors, a little “creative accounting” and, bingo” or words to that effect.

See also the classic line near the end; “It’s a success! We’re ruined!”

What is the bet there is a “bail-out” already being lined up in this squalid shell game?

More money thrown at limited supply is the classic recipe for hyper-inflation.

    Might be my late-life plan.

If somebody wants to pay me to grow trees instead of wheat, the cynic in me wonders why I shouldn’t. You peasants can starve….. or learn to eat sawdust.

    learn to eat sawdust

If you mix worms in with the sawdust it’s quite filling and nutritious.

And so the day arrives .. time to say goodbye to a family member, Wembley had reached the end.. both back legs had quit on him and no quality left after 14 years .. In the end it all went quite smoothly, I carried him into the car fairly easily, given his 45kg size, and once at the vet all the waffle about front/backdoor, masks & vax certificates were forgotten .. just carried him thru the foyer/reception out the back into the garden onto a blanket/stretcher, went without a whimper or bark just closed those big eyes a final time and it was all over .. had 5 minutes with him before the end, I held back the outward emotions but the daughter let the tears flow .. RIP WEMBLEY ….
    Taken on a better day……

With a “wall of money” just waiting to invest, there will be no future need for RETs, publicly funded extensions to the grid and other subsidies, will there? Will there?

I’m so sorry. It is so hard to say goodbye. You did the best thing ever for him, you stayed with him till the end. He knew.

Losers, the taxpayers. They’ll underwrite it. And anyone who wants electricity, or whose job depends on the availability of electricity.

Winners? Everyone whose snout is in the trough before the inevitable financial and engineering collapses.

it is like every board and committee woke up this year with a new mandate.
We dunno why we want it … we just do.
    make it so.

It just so happens that our sorry arsed company specializes in the delivery and deployment of such engine-nerded trickery

gas, water, elec, efficiency, data-comms, back end servers, data analytics etc

so sorry, they’re gonna borrow it from the bank and then give the money to me

Geez, and I just learned a week ago via special email that Commonwealth Bank isn’t into financial planning anymore. I seem to recall that’s because they were up to naughty tricks and got caught out. And here they are newly dusted off on a moral crusade to change the climate using other people’s money. Hate to say it but CBA stinks as much as Biden’s farts!
