Uncomfortable Times

I was driving to work in Melbourne in the mid-1980s, listening to the ABC News. Tony Rafferty, the newsreader said, had caught up with the race leaders despite having started behind. I forget which race but it must have been a handicap, ultra-distance, road race of the kind for which Rafferty was famous. I phoned the ABC when I got to work. Got through to the news department and pointed out that Rafferty could not have caught up if he had not started behind. The word “despite” was inappropriate, I said. Whether the chap on the other end got my point I don’t really know, but he was sympathetic and blamed the Sydney ABC crowd who he said wrote the script.

It was a different age. Doubt I’d get through so readily to ABC News. More than that, there would be so much more for me to get upset about than syntax. Bob Carr, for example, wanting to charge the non-vaccinated for their hospital treatment. Morrison taking issue with Bobby without actually doing anything about the persecution of unvaxxed Australians. Barnaby onboard with net zero, having so readily ditched any inconvenient principles.  The mirage of green hydrogen power. The ultra-mirage of Australia leading the way in exporting green hydrogen power, apropos Twiggy. There was another Twiggy once in the old times. A famous skinny English model. Liked her.

In the scheme of things, I was upset today by not being able to attend church; my soul being at risk from past misdeeds of various non-criminal kinds. Perrottet is responsible. The rule now is that vaxxed and masked congregants can sing. Unvaxxed congregants must be mute.  I think, am fairly confident, I am the only unvaxxed congregant. Maybe, possibly, one more? As I explained to my minister, I couldn’t attend on that basis. Just too uncomfortable for everyone. The times are uncomfortable. Want to escape.

Peter…

I, too, have stopped attending, for the time being. My church has been a little too focused on being “nice”, which means pandering to people’s fears instead of encouraging them to stand on principle.
They say that they are opposed to discrimination.

I walked out of a Catholic Church service in The Hague a couple of weeks ago when the priest began handing out Holy Communion from underneath a plexiglass screen. That was after he had ceremoniously cleansed his hands with the proffered holy hand gel.

Am trying to obtain a fake vax cert so can attend church but wondering if I should bring it up in confession afterwards.

It’s the sort of dilemma the Pharisees would have loved.

If you are not upset by the present circumstance, your moral sense is dull.

Try not to put in writing on an open forum that you intend to commit a ‘crime’…
I understand you want an out.
On the other hand, MS paint and Google images are your friends.

What I find appalling about some friends, relatives and colleagues is how little they have given thought to our present circumstances. These are clever, degreed and highly functioning people and yet have a herd mentality. The pushback within my social and professional circle has come from people I previously thought were fairly easygoing. It seems hard times reveal people’s real qualities.

Indeed and word it reveals who would have sheltered Anne Frank and who would have handed her over to the Gestapo.

Being FakeVaxxed may seem like a handy thing at the moment but circumstances can change.
For instance, there won’t be many left standing after the 15th Booster, perhaps the survivors will be sent to the camps to protect them from the Great Unvaxxed?

I’m just waiting for Chairman Dan to impose similar restrictions as has Austria, where the unvaccinated are now effectively under house arrest except to do certain things (aka Melbourne lockdowns). Passes must be shown on demand to the Gestapo.

Locking out of church the healthy, because they haven’t taken an experimental vaccine which is quickly turning out to be the deadliest shot you can take, was a big eye opener for me.
Church leaders everywhere have been more interested in saving bodies than souls.
We have fallen far, but the light is being shed on all and now we know who is on what side.

Jesus and Mary also punished:

BETHLEHEM—Biblical scholars have uncovered a dusty old scroll that turned out to be a record of Jesus’s birth. According to the ancient writing, Mary and Joseph were actually denied room in the inn because they were unvaxxed.

Oh good.
That means my moral sense is like a scalpel because I’m enraged by it.

Not according to this bloke. TheirABC has found a Catholic they approve of.
