Denley Moor?

Michael Palin correctly predicted the fetishization of weather, which is a better record of accuracy than any of the thermageddonists’ prophesy efforts.

I don’t know what the situation is with the Tweed, but the border “bubble” gives a handy structure to slough off Qld patients into NSW for treatment.

Honestly, I’d be surprised if that happens. Northern NSW hospitals just don’t have the expertise at the pointy end to justify medivacs whereas multiple hospitals within easy reach over the border do.

Quiet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iizaW-zMapE

I am heading for a time of quiet
When my restlessness is past
And I can lie down on my blanket
And release my fists at last
I am heading for a time of solitude
Of peace without illusions
When the perfect circle marries
All beginnings and conclusions
And when they say
That you’re not good enough
Well, the answer is you’re not
But who are they or what is it
That eats at what you’ve got?
With the hunger of ambition
For the change inside the purse
They are handcuffs on the soul, my friends
Handcuffs on the soul and worse
And I am heading for a place of quiet
Where the sage and sweet grass grow
By a lake of sacred water
From the mountain’s melted snow

10:1 Victoria, and perhaps QLD, tells parents that kids can’t return to school in January without getting ‘jabbed’.

Then they’ll lean on the homeschooling brigade and make the handful of parents who refuse jabs and pull their kids out of school a family services / health / social interaction issue and start threatening to fine parents and take kids away.

What a fucking legacy right. Thanks a lot!

Likely.

However, there is a loophole to remove your kids from school and enroll them online in other states.

Other options: Move to NSW, assuming they aren’t as draconian as Vic/QLD. Move overseas, assuming the vax exemption is still there and you can board the plane without the clot shot.

Terry Jones in ‘Secretary of State Striptease’ is extremely funny. Also the ‘Four Yorkshireman’ sketch whilst not strictly Python is still extremely good for a laugh. Marty Feldman did one of the early iterations of this sketch with Tim Brooke Taylor and John Cleese. I agree that Holy Grail and Life of Brian really brough out their talents. They were more comedic writers and actors than straight comedians.

‘Just a number’: Digger felt abandoned when he was most in need

Jess Malcolm
Reporter
@jessmalcolm1
6 minutes ago December 6, 2021

Ryan Goodwin was a shadow of his former self when he returned home after fighting for his country in Afghanistan in 2011.

An outgoing, ambitious and academic man, Goodwin found his calling when he joined the army in 2007 after growing up wearing military fatigues, watching war documentaries and consuming books about the army.

The South Australian served for four years, including a tour of Afghanistan in 2010 and 2011, but was barely recognisable to his family when he was discharged. He suffered a seven-year battle with mental and physical health and eventually died by suicide in December 2019.

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide on Monday was told how Goodwin was abandoned by the organisation that recruited him, receiving no proactive support from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The inquiry, which began its second week of hearings in Brisbane, was told the former soldier was given no material support to help him process the traumatic events he had witnessed.

Goodwin’s father Phillip described two events before he was posted overseas that left him scarred. These included being a first responder to an incident where two civilians were incinerated in a fuel tanker fire near Rockhampton, and the death of a friend and comrade in a motorcycle accident at the Enoggera Barracks.

Phillip Goodwin told the hearing his son began to withdraw from his friends and family, stopped exercising and eating properly, and suffered uncontrollable fits of rage which were “totally out of character”.

“I realise that individuals need to take some responsibility for their own welfare,” Mr Goodwin said. “(But) if Ryan was a fit enough man and a strong enough man to send off to act of service … I think we as a nation did have a debt to keep Ryan safe in his own country.”

Mr Goodwin said his son later found the Department of Veterans Affairs “very adversarial” and became increasingly frustrated.

“I don’t feel as though he was fully supported by the Department of Veteran Affairs,” he said. “He was just a number there, another statistic, another caseload.

“He just gave up hope all together … hope was taken from him. That was probably the biggest tragedy, when he lost hope, that he probably didn’t see a way forward.”

After years of anguish, the former soldier turned to illicit substances to numb the pain, which caused conflict within his family.

The only support outside that of his family was occasional contact with the RSL.

In October 2018, Goodwin submitted a claim of liability to the Department of Veterans Affairs in a bid to seek psychological help for post-traumatic stress disorder.

It is understood he was placed on a waiting list, but died just over a year later, aged 39.

Mr Goodwin said the family received a letter 18 months later from the Department of Veteran Affairs acknowledging his PTSD.

That’s total bullshit. It’s also bullshit that hospitals wouldn’t accept unvaxed adult emergency cases. He’s hallucinating.

Alternative narrative: Waiting lists for the vaxxed have shortened due to hospitals rejecting treatment for non-urgent unvaxxed cases.

Sorry but where would we get the info? Back in the WA Inc days Their ABC and The West Australian employed journalists.
Even though they spent the 1980s licking the shoes of the millionaires for party invites, the news at least reported the events like selling off giant state properties to the in crowd.

Just catching up on Queensland’s Triumph.

The whole border thing appears to have become a lot more complicated, fraught and inconvenient than originally advertised:

For example, a resident in the NSW town of Pottsville who is fully vaccinated and has a valid border pass can drive to Burleigh Heads, but will need proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the last 72 hours to drive to Brisbane.

For example, a fully vaccinated Toowoomba couple can take a day trip to Byron Bay and return, but if they spent the weekend in Coffs Harbour, they will need negative test results before being permitted back over the border.

If I get this correctly, a wrong turn could have you marooned in northern NSW, trying to find a quick turnaround PCR test, in time to get home to feed the cat.

In normal times you could hope that the accumulated absurdities might shame politicians and their enablers into being better people and to stop fucking around.
Not so much any more.

Tell us all a story about how it used to be
Make it up and write it down
Just like history
About goldilocks and the three bears
Nature in the cross hairs
And how we all ascended from the deep green sea
When it’s not too hot, not too cold
Not too meek, not too bold
When it’s just right and you add sunlight
Then we’re home
Finally home
Home in the land of the homeless
Finally home,
Oh, what are we going to do
I never did a thing to you
Time peaceful as a hurricane eye
Peaceful as a hurricane eye
A history of whispers
A shadow of a horse
Faces painted black in sorrow and remorse
White cloud, black crow
Crucifix and arrow
The oldest silence speak the loudest
Under the deep green sea
When speech becomes a crime
Silence leads the spirit
Over the bridge of time
Over the bridge of time
I’m walking with my family
And the road begins to climb
And it’s, oh lord how we going to pray
With crazy angel voices all night
‘Til it’s a new day
Peaceful as a hurricane
Peaceful as a hurricane
Peaceful as a hurricane eye
Peaceful as a hurricane
Peaceful as a hurricane
Peaceful as a hurricane eye
Peaceful as a hurricane eye
You want to be a leader?
You want to change the game?
Turn your back on money
Walk away from fame
You want to be a missionary?
Got that missionary zeal?
Let a stranger change your life
How is that make you feel?
You want to be a writer
But you don’t know how or when
Find a quiet place
Use a humble pen
You want to talk-talk-talk about it
All night squawk about
The ocean and the atmosphere
Well, I’ve been away for a long time
And it looks like a mess around here
I’ll be away for a long time
So here’s how the story goes
There was an old woman
Who lived in a shoe
She was baking a cinnamon pie
She fell asleep in a washing machine
Woke up in a hurricane eye

Was supposed to be churning out parts this afternoon, made some program mods, test running the program and the freaking turret doesn’t make it to the right tool. Restart and now I’m stuck on the infamous NOT READY screen.

Hmmm, maybe the turret motor tripped out. Get out the wiring diagram, find the supply, bingo! The breakers tripped. Restart, and reset everything. Re run the program to test. Craps out on another tool change. Bugger. At least not stuck at the NOT READY screen. Now turret won’t even index. Bit of googling and memory jolting. Parameters 16 and 17 inputs from sensors associated with turret sequence. 17 appears to be responding correctly. 16 seems to be dead an unresponsive to position of locking pin.

Tomorrow I get to see if the unvaxxed can buy an 8mm PNP Proximity sensor!!!

This machine has a Italian turret on it. It’s been having freaking turret problems since 1986! Fortunately the previous owner was a fastidious keeper of documentation. I have a 2” thick file of turret problems. With any luck this isn’t something new!

Earth is getting a black box to record our climate change actions, and it’s already started listening

ABC Science / By environment reporter Nick Kilvert

On a granite-strewn plain, surrounded by gnarled mountains, sits a giant steel box.

Incongruous in the landscape, much like Kubrick’s black monolith of 2001: A Space Odyssey fame, its alien presence suggests it was put there with intent.

And if those that discover it can decipher the messages it contains, they could get a glimpse of what caused the fall of the civilisation that was there before.

This is Earth’s Black Box.

‘First and foremost, it’s a tool’

When an aeroplane crashes, it’s left to investigators to sift through the wreckage to recover the black box.

It’s hoped the recorded contents can be used to help others avoid the same fate.

And so it is with Earth’s Black Box: a 10-metre-by-4-metre-by-3-metre steel monolith that’s about to be built on a remote outcrop on Tasmania’s west coast.

If that sounds unhinged, it’s worth remembering that we’re currently on track for as much as 2.7C of warming this century.

Ask any climate scientist what happens when warming breaches 2C, and they’ll almost invariably tell you it’s not worth thinking about.

Reported at WUWT.

Victoria to introduce new mandated targets for female representation in construction
The Andrews Government will introduce a new policy that will see state construction jobs have mandated numbers of female workers.

It will spell out that women work in at least 3 per cent of jobs in each trade role on a project, 7 per cent for each non-trade position and 35 per cent of management, supervisor and specialist labour roles.

https://12ft.io/proxy?ref=&q=https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/victoria-to-introduce-new-mandated-targets-for-female-representation-in-construction/news-story/d961921030d86d02596717170dcb2b90

Vic will be destroyed long before an asteroid can get here. I am glad I am not a young bloke trying to get ahead in construction, at least not on government contracts. They will be overlooked for many years while the 3% of females will be walking into 35% of management/specialist positions.

callisays:
December 6, 2021 at 7:50 pm

My understanding is that Qld hospitals are despicably underfunded and understaffed with a massive top heavy administration.

More than we realise.
Here’s an anecdote which tells a much larger story:

Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital wrote to me last week. A long multi-page letter about mandatory vaccination of anyone who provides services to a “healtcare site”

Just the listing of persons who must be vaccinated was muli-page in itself. Eg, tradesmen fixing loose doorknobs, caterers, tea ladies, on & on & it went.

Then there is a page or two of instructions on how to “complete, sign, & return” a form stating that I & all my staff, & everybody who may enter my building is vaccinated.

I am a country pub. I’m not in the same province as Brisbane. That hospital has no more to do with me than does the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.

The letter was long & comprehensive, except for one key point: It did not define what is a “health care site”

Half an hour or more of my life was lost, on a day when I couldn’t afford the time, researching what is a “health care site”

Does a pub room, & by extension the entire pub, where RBWH staff are booked, fit the definition of a “health care site”? (keeping in mind that if RBWH books a specialist at my place, & he/she hurts themselves having tinder style hookup sex they’re considered to have a work injury)

This stuff isn’t funny when you can see all Health Dept business being withdrawn. A significant portion of my business income.

Took me half an hour to decide I’m not a health care site.

They could have saved themselves some trouble, & me a helluva lot, if they’d never written the letter.
I get more people from St. Vincent’s in Sydney, & the Alfred in Melbourne, staying here, than I do RBWH.

Neither the Alfred nor St. Vincent’s have bothered me on this matter. Nor do I expect them to.

Toyed with the idea of sending an abusive letter to RBWH telling them they’ve waaay too many ponytails & pen-pushers on their staff.

Where’s the health-care outcome in all the above? (There is not one)

Yep, there’s lotsa lotsa stuff may not be around at Christmas time.
I’m rationed to 1 x carton per week of Malibu, Kahlua, & a few others, Corona & other similar is either out of stock or limited supply (eg, rationed to 5 or 10 cartons per week)

More than half the line items in my order from Lion Nathan (one of Australia’s two breweries) were out of stock & not expected to be supplied again this year, & no idea when or even if, they’ll be able to supply again.

The pallet shortage means suppliers are reluctant to send slow-moving stock to wholesalers.
They’d rather have the wooden pallet available to use, than to make available slow moving lines. (eg, Jagermeister, Chambord, & other rocket fuel that sells at snail pace)

When I was a resident of Queensland still, I had similar tangles with Q Health. Found them heavily bureaucratic and when they stuffed up no-ones fault. Impossible to contact, 90% of contact with the clinics went to message that was never returned and despite the growing admin workforce under Bligh & Palace-chook it was just getting harder to talk to someone. Yep.
I’ve a massive stock of stories of bureaucracy being prioritised above delivery of medical treatment.
By medical staff (not just clerical staff)

I got to know one of the local nurses quite well. He’d worked in NSW & reported that from the inside the Qld hospital system was shockingly worse.
He also had a lot of adverse criticism of hospital staff, principally the nurses.
There was a noticeable (even to outsiders) gulf, both cultural & political, between the Australian-born nurses & the immigrants.

The two groups didn’t have much to do with each other off duty.

I was reading the latest memo from the CEO of Oaktree Capital – Howard Marks. I was once told that he is a very clever guy. He is a Dem’s shill and AGW believer (even used the “climate denier” slur). So, I’m not so sure about this assessment of his intellect. Although I don’t discount the possibility that he is in it for the money, which makes him an immoral bastard.
In the memo he is, basically, confirming Twostix’s boomers theory, but applied to the US.
Extract from page 11:

Generational Inequity
In 2037 and 2026, respectively, Social Security and Medicare, benefit programs that aid older Americans, will likely become unable to continue paying today’s benefits. And yet we don’t hear any discussion of the benefit cuts, delayed eligibility, tax increases, or means testing that would have to be part of any solution. In fact, in the last 18 months Washington has approved more than $9 trillion of spending on Covid-19 relief and infrastructure, but we haven’t heard a word from either party about fixing these essential programs. That’s presumably because the party that trims these programs would likely be penalized at the polls. The 71.2 million members of the Baby Boom generation (people born between roughly 1946 and 1964) are triple the 23.0 members of the Silent Generation that preceded them and 10% more than the 65.0 million Generation Xers that followed. The magnitude of the Boomers’ votes and financial resources have given them enormous political influence over the last 40 years. The result has been extensive deficit spending on things the Boomers want and a failure to modify benefit programs that need fixing, all at the expense of future generations. This is an example of the generational unfairness that has been perpetrated in recent decades. In short – in a way that many Americans probably don’t recognize – administrations of both parties have been (and still are) spending vast amounts, taxing less than they should relative to their spending (thus incurring deficits), and running up the national debt, largely favoring the Baby Boomers who are now America’s very numerous retirees. Here’s the history of the U.S. national debt:
… [table cut for length]
In short, the Baby Boomers have been and still are consuming more than their fair share of the pie. This will leave future generations saddled with substantial debt stemming from expenditures they didn’t benefit from proportionally.

Infuriating moment Labor heavyweight fails to answer a simple question five times about when electric cars will actually be affordable for average Australians

And the cost of the car doesn’t even consider the very likely requirement to upgrade the power to the house, and likely the street. Was quoted $30,000 from the distribution company, just for the house transformer out on the street. Then comes digging in upgraded copper from the street to the house. Then comes the house electrics and charging station.

If the street doesn’t have 3-Phase already, we are potentially talking in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to upgrade the poles and wires from the nearest 3-Phase line. If your neighbours don’t want to contribute their share to those costs, you’ll be paying alone, or the EV will remain what Chris Bowen is selling…an illusory dream/nightmare for most.

But don’t worry, you can have a secondhand ComCar after Chris has spent three years rubbing his arse on the seats, knowing that one day a lucky prole will get it, and be thankful.

And let’s not forget the bonus plan of your movement becoming entirely dependant on the provision (or otherwise) of electricity. A monopoly commodity that the government has the power to turn off to your property, at a whim. Using your smart meter, they don’t even need to fire up a Diesel engine to do it.

We see you, Chris.

Watched a CNN interview yesterday regarding Chris Cumo. It was a half baked apology by CNN, with the byline that it’s difficult for journalists not to have personal relationships with politicians. The argument they were putting forward was that it’s impossible for journalists not to build relationships/friendships with politicians and powerful people in Washington.

Perhaps if journalists went back to viewing themselves more as “judges”, it might be a good start. A judge is supposed to sit there and listen, ask questions, and review all of the evidence. They then write a judgement based on the evidence, without fear or favour.

If judges were out there cavorting and socialising with prosecutors, defence lawyers and the accused, the public would be justifiably horrified.

The vast majority of journalists tend to either be on side A or side B. It’s no wonder all we get is “fake news”, or at the very least, “skewed news”.

Over the past few months we frequently have helicopters hovering about. Usually daytime. They aren’t going anywhere, just sticking to a perhaps 2 or 3 km radius over Mosman. I cannot make out the markings.

I don’t know if they are training pilots – although if they were training to fly you would think they would avoid built up areas – even better, over water so that if anything goes wrong they will fall into the sea unloved and unlamented.

But it goes on for 30 minutes to an hour at a time.

I must admit, when it first started the most likely explanation was that our despotic government was looking for people out of their approved zones – Spit Bridge being a point where all traffic must flow through and any errant citizens would need to pass through there. And there was nothing so despicable that it might not be suspected subterranean ogres in Macquarie Street. But the only real possible tracking of anyone is mobile phone signals and for that they just need access to the towers.

I suppose I should instead put that possibility in the ‘They probably are not doing this, but they are such lowly scum that they would” column.

But having helicopters buzzing the place is more than a little ominous and stops you from opening windows – a plane comes and goes but a helicopter drones on and on.

Infuriating moment Labor heavyweight fails to answer a simple question five times about when electric cars will actually be affordable for average Australians

Look, leaders are big picture people. Details like the finances of individuals’ households is a matter for other people a bit further down.

But the first thing perhaps to reflect on is that the number of cars per household is not carved in stone and we should reconsider whether every person who has a car really needs to have one.

And all the people doing it rough – if they do not have an electric car think of the money they will be saving for food, clothing, and scratchies at the newsagent.

And here is the genius part – the more expensive electric cars are, the more money people will save not buying them! These prices are not just there to benefit the ‘big end of town’, but every Australian.

I followed a link to an article a couple of days ago written by a chemist who had been in the vax manufacturing area for yonks. He stated that, even if the amount of large, vax manufacturers (and there are not that many), were to add thousands of staff, who take a minimum of six months to be trained only rudimetarily, were able to make one phial every(I think he said two seconds), it would take them THIRTY-TWO YEARS to make ONE BILLION clot shots.

This has been in the works a helluva lot longer than we had thought and the clot shots have been stockpiled all that time. The excuse of using them before the use-by date is obviously a crock. Curious to know where they are hiding them. When Trump enabled Operation Warp Speed, it was no wonder the filfthy pharma companies were “happy”, to oblige.

If the above maths is wrong, someone let me know, please. I am always happy to be proved wrong. Would rather be corrected than double down on ignorance.

Tasmania introduces vaccination status cards to allow people entry to premises if the filthy ingrates choose not to submit to phone tracking. Timed to coincide with the opening of the state in a fortnight, presumably when a bunch of pox ridden foreigners will flood the zone which of course legitimises the punitive measures upon the locals.

Were they really FBI?

There was an interesting exposé thread on it posted yesterday. Initial post by a week-old (or less) bot account that pinched entries from someone else’s account to give verisimilitude and had an AI-generated profile pic.

Which promptly disappeared shortly after the first attempts to dig into its background began.

Having a few proles put their hands up for the Marybrook Bush School. Weirdly, a few primary aged kids, but their high school siblings will continue inside the schoolags. “Do you think that a jab mandate will not be declared for high schools too?” Answers range from “High school is too important, the work load is heavier they need to be there” to “But 15-y-o’s are safe, I’m just worried they don’t have enough evidence for 8 y-o-‘s” to “Arabella* is safe from the clot shot, but no way we’re giving Jaxan* pericarditis”.
Cognitive dissonance. Or- and I’m only just twigging onto this now that y6 “graduation” is happening- white trash Australian see the entirety of primary school as emoji-education, protected daycare.

“The Pfizer/BioNTech booster produced a quicker and stronger immune response that dropped off faster, their study suggested.

“Both vaccines boost antibody titers very well. At week four, neutralizing antibody levels were comparable,” Dr. Dan Barouch of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, who led the study team, told CNN.

But after four weeks, antibody levels began to drop off in people who got boosted with the Pfizer vaccine while they continued to increase in people who got J&J’s vaccine. J&J’s vaccine also increased the numbers of immune cells called CD8 T cells”.

From a study of 65 volunteers over 4 weeks, and even then Pfizer seems second best…

DOJ sues Texas over Republican-approved redistricting maps it says intentionally discriminate against black and minority voters

‘This is not the first time Texas has acted to minimize the voting rights of its minority citizens. Decade after decade, Texas has enacted redistricting plans that violate the Voting Rights Act,’ the Justice Department said in the lawsuit. ‘In enacting its 2021 Congressional and House plans, the State has again diluted the voting strength of minority Texans.’

In its complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the Justice Department said that the 2020 Census showed that Latinos are on track to become the state’s largest population group, and that non-white Latino voters account for less than 40 percent of the state’s population.

If there is a demo in Washington to commemorate the day, these clowns will hope that their early appearance will legitimise them and allow them to embed with genuine protesters.

You know what happens next.

This isn’t “conspiracy” thinking, just simple bog standard tactics of provocateur placement. And, all primed up with the earlier footage this month, the lickspittle MSM will say, Ahaha! We told you there were White Supremacists in the mix last month!

And got a whole FBI investigation and everything? Including a free and gratuitous smearing of NASCAR’s entire audience and fanbase of all ages, races and sexes? His own audience!

Let Smollet shrink into the obscurity he deserves. He only involved 2 other guys. That NASCAR guy deserves to be remembered for the tactics instead.

Touching upon the electric car thing – yet another opportunity for politicians to come into their own as the imperious, vainglorious, supercilious simpletons they are.

In this whole wide land they will consider themselves most important. As an example, while even CEO’s of large companies must provide for their own transport as they go about their business, politicians will imagine they must be given electric vehicles in the national interest. Bowen and his lowly confederates will assume the country owes them everything they would deny others. No idea of the effect of their rules and strictures on the people upon whom they are applied.

Someone who has worked their entire life and added to the nation are as naught, compared to the compost colossi who will with the stroke of a pen (and a few deals so they can turn public finance into props for their next electoral campaign) will destroy an industry – and then use taxpayers money to keep themselves supplied with imports of what they have just destroyed locally.

Government and politicians are a choke point. And for some insane reason they think the harder they choke the more wonderful they are.

Just in case you missed this, it’s a very interesting read and so far the closest to examining the issue calmly and from both sides I have seen.
