On that note, I recently enjoyed a birthday. Our Best Man gave me a bottle of Limeburners for my birthday. The amazing lady of the house selected that bottle to put 250ml in a Tiramasu recipe. Apparently the Glenfiddich looked too impressive. I was a wee mite peeved, and the flaming Tiramasu was for Book Club, not me, as well.

Fortunately it wasn’t completely wasted; the book club included someone who knew what she was eating, laughed when told the story and said she loved Limeburners.

Well this new birthday rolled around. The lovely chef gave me a Limeburners. Isn’t that sweet? Poor, foolish girl must be besotted.

Apparently it is far worse, like blow your engine up worse.

Rockdoctor’s mate’s solution may have some merit, given I only have a third of a tank in.

Filled a car’s tank with diesel in Spain. “Gasolino” and “Gasoleo” – who’s to know? Didn’t run smooth, that’s all I’ll say.

Totally.

However there is reason for cautious optimism. Canada – the truckers look like they might win there, even bring down the Trudeau government. Wow. England has ended mask and vaccine mandates. Democrat states in the US are easing restrictions. NSW are hinting they will end mask mandates.

Things are moving in the right direction. Of course, if you live in WA you will be at the very end of the queue for freedom, but the rest of the world seems to have had enough.

From John H.’s link:

Ardehali cautions that the study’s observational nature comes with some limitations. For example, people in the contemporary control group weren’t tested for COVID-19, so it’s possible that some of them actually had mild infections. And because the authors considered only VA patients — a group that’s predominantly white and male — their results might not translate to all populations.

Huh? Why weren’t they tested? Surely if they were in a control group that’s the first thing you’d do. A blood test for antibodies for instance.

Is this how they do “science” these days? Mine is limited to work in the glasshouse, so what would I know.

Also, I enjoyed the aside about race. Rotten, racist virus! And racist scientists too.

An increase of 4 and 12 per 1,000 is troubling, but given the faulty methodology I don’t think I’ll panic just yet.

KD, the advice re cleaning the fuel lines with air etc is good but if you don’t have air this is the best you can do. Drain the tank completely, remove the fuel filter and drain the ulp out of it, rinse it with diesel , then fill the filter with diesel and refit. Fill tank with diesel, prime the pump and try to get it started. Any damage is already done, there may not be much, you can’t tell until you drive it again. So give it a go.

How deep is the rot in political America?
This article details and summarises it pretty well. The caving of McConnell and McCarthy to the demrat definition of January 6 as a violent insurrection is just the latest manifestation of it. Extract:
I could write an avalanche of essays explaining how important I believe Trump’s presidency has been for this country. But that seems secondary to the need to roll up six years of government-orchestrated hoaxes, crimes, and propaganda used to undermine the 2016 (and, in my opinion, 2020) election(s) and shove all of Washington’s corruption right down its collective throat. Even if I did not like Donald Trump, the Uniparty’s and Deep State’s relentless efforts to prevent his 2016 election, sabotage his presidency, undermine 2020 ballot security, censor evidence of election fraud, criminalize his supporters as “domestic terrorists,” and now put Trump in legal jeopardy by framing him as having attempted to overthrow the federal government are more than enough to ensure that I would walk through fire to vote for him again. In my mind, justice demands it. The D.C. denizens have just gone too far to ever be forgiven or for their treachery to ever be forgotten.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_03C_IgjHFQ&t=27s

BTW, the petrol / diesel thing:

In places where it gets seriously chilly in winter, they have “winter-grade” diesel fuel; basically ordinary distillate, with a calculated splash of “petrol”. This is to prevent the raw diesel fuel turning to jelly in the cold. Fuel line pumps and injector pumps have “issues” with jellied fuel. Not much of an issue here in sunny Queensland, but in the great white north (or south), it is a thing.

See also: Engine block heaters that you plug into the wall in your garage, not so the anti-freeze coolant doesn’t freeze, but so the oil in the sump remains liquid enough that the starter motor can crank the engine. There are also battery heaters because car starter batteries FAIL at extremes of temperature. And it is a real bitch to start a high-compression engine without an electric starter motor., especially if the vehicle has one of those new-fangled “automatic” transmissions.

February 12, 2022 7:58 am

Bruce, never been to Canada but I doubt they use petrol to stop the diesel from gelling. Where I live in Vic the winter diesel is already treated to keep it liquid in the winter months. I filled up in Albury one winters day a few years back, back home the next morning the car wouldn’t start till a round mid/late morning. Albury diesel isn’t alpine mix. You can buy treatments from the local servos as well, I think it’s a form of kerosene.

From the Daily Terror…I know I shouldn’t but I did derive a lot of pleasure reading this.

“Andrew O’Keefe met the woman he is accused of assaulting when she was a sex worker

The woman who has accused ex-Channel 7 star Andrew O’Keefe of assaulting her at his Kent St apartment met him some time ago, when she was a sex worker.

The woman told police she went to O’Keefe’s Kent St CBD apartment on January 25 to discuss establishing a flower business. She claimed an argument broke out that allegedly resulted in the ex-TV star punching her and putting her in a headlock.

O’Keefe, a former host of Weekend Sunrise and Deal or No Deal, has pleaded not guilty to six charges relating to the incident, and is set to argue he acted in self defence.

A source familiar with the investigation said the pair had an existing relationship before their disastrous meeting last month.

According to the source, the pair met “some time ago”, when the woman was a sex worker.

When the woman reported O’Keefe to police on January 26, she told them the meeting was in relation to establishing a flower business.

It is not known if the woman is still a sex worker. A suppression order preventing details of the woman’s “occupation” was lifted in Central Local Court on Friday.

Instead, Magistrate Lisa Viney placed a non-publication order on the woman’s name and anything that would tend to identify her.

O’Keefe, a former White Ribbon ambassador, “was a well known and sanctimonious hypocrite who used to like to lecture, harangue, fulminate and berate others about the seriousness of violence against women” appeared on screen for the hearing but said almost nothing. He is facing six charges in relation to the alleged assault on January 25.

This includes two counts of intentionally choking a person, three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

In court on Friday, O’Keefe’s barrister Arjun Chhabra told Magistrate Viney his client pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The 50-year-old was refused bail on January 28 but this could soon change. O’Keefe’s solicitor Sharon Ramsden is preparing to launch a fresh bail application for him in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday.

Chhabra told the court his client was pleading guilty to one count of drug possession in relation to 1.5g of cannabis that was found in the Kent St apartment on January 27.

The court was also told on Friday that O’Keefe had been hit with another charge of breaching an apprehended violence order taken out to protect a person who cannot legally be named.

The Saturday Telegraph can reveal that the charge came after police seized O’Keefe’s phone during his arrest on January 27. Officers then searched the phone and allegedly found a slew of communication between O’Keefe and the protected person.

The communication allegedly occurred in December.

Magistrate Lisa Viney ordered him to reappear in Central Local Court on February 25 on the criminal charges.

The above words in bold are my own…just for some clarity. And as for the “sex worker”….somebody here, in a comment last week, guessed as much.

WordPress must be suppressing Breitbart because I had no difficulty accessing the article directly. I think it’s worth reading.

Anyone familiar with my scribbling knows that I separate modern society into two categories: World Turners and The Useless.

Me? I’m no World Turner. I’m one of The Useless. What I mean is this: If everyone who does what I do for a living stopped doing it today, the world would keep right on turning. Society would roll along just fine without me and mine — maybe better. Sure, a few people might miss my musings, but only for a little while. And the same is true for anyone who makes a living spewing their half-assed opinions (especially Jonah Goldberg).

In fact, you could wipe society’s table clear of every writer, artist, actor, musician, professor, dancer, reporter, tastemaker, producer, influencer, teacher, lobbyist, politician, everyone on TV, everyone who doesn’t get their hands dirty, and our world would keep turning just fine. Would we miss things like the newest Marvel movie? Sure. Those things are the spice of a life as bountiful as ours. But that doesn’t change the fact that our world would keep right on turning.

Now try to live without the World Turners, those sneered at by America’s left-wing elite, by the CNNs and Morning Joes and NPR — the working class. Try to imagine your life without mechanics, farmers, coal miners, oil drillers, plumbers, roofers, electricians, pest control, the people who stock the shelves, who make our steel, police our streets, put out our fires, pave our roads, dig our ditches, haul our garbage, and plow the snow. Within a month, our world stops turning. Within six months, welcome to dystopia. Within a year, we’re eating one another.

But if you really want to know who keeps our world turning, it’s the truck drivers. Nothing moves without truck drivers, and I do mean nothing. Without truck drivers, it all goes to shit in about a week. No gasoline, no heating oil, empty store shelves, empty pharmacies, no seeds to grow your own food. It all grinds to a halt.

And still, despite their necessity and the value they add to our lives, everything our useless elites despise can be found in the person of a truck driver, for they are the modern-day cowboy: the rugged and resourceful individualists doing the dangerous, difficult, skilled, and tedious work of keeping us fed and absurdly comfortable.

Thanks primarily to truck drivers, modern societies’ poor live a life of luxury no Pharaoh could have imagined: central heat, air conditioning, microwaves, plasma TVs, cheap food, clothes, and furniture, cheap everything…

You don’t have to thank these guys. In fact, they’re perfectly content living in a world where no one gives them a thought. That’s how they’re built. If one quality defines most truck drivers, it’s that they just want to be left alone. They’re loners comfortable in their own company and eager to escape into the cab of their rig where the world makes sense, where the complications and unnecessary dramas that define modern life don’t exist. All that exists is hot coffee, a loyal dog, the radio, the companionship of the like-minded at the next stop, and the road.

We need truck drivers a whole lot more than they need us, and they know it. The leverage they hold over our society has always been there, but because truck drivers are men and not babies, they don’t use it. Instead, they just go about the business of going about their business. But if you don’t allow them to go about their business…

Guys like this, guys who just want to be left alone, those are the last guys you want to push around to the point where they push back.

And now the world’s truck drivers, especially in fascist Canada, have had enough, and now they’re shrugging. Brother, are they shrugging.

And can you blame them?

You don’t need a vaccine passport to attend the Oscars, but you do need one to be a truck driver.

On what planet is that okay?

Only silver-spooned bullies like Justin Trudeau and Joe Biden live on that planet.

And never forget that unlike the Brownshirts in Black Lives Matter and Antifa, these men are laying something on the line, something real. These are working people, not professional activists, criminals, and students. These men have families, mortgages, a nut to crack every month. But they’re still out there without the burning and looting that define the modern left. The risks are also real — crippling fines, imprisonment, truck confiscation, a fascist state eager for violence — but their cause is the most righteous of causes in the history of man: the right to be left alone.

Who is John Galt?

Now we know.

https://medium.com/@leibowitt/of-course-fidel-castro-is-justin-trudeaus-dad-nobody-has-debunked-anything-4db6fc8a9042

In the age of sloppy journalism, few authors are sloppier than those who claim they ‘debunked’ the story that Fidel Castro is Justin Trudeau’s biological father. They recite the Canadian governments’ official travel dates to Cuba and painfully avoid the Trudeaus’ extensive personal trip to the Caribbean trip in Spring 1971. It is a fact the Trudeaus were in the Caribbean in Spring 1971. It is a fact they adored Castro. It is a fact the Trudeaus were swingers. This is what you need to know.
First, Margaret Trudeau, Pierre Trudeau, and Fidel Castro were all notoriously sexually promiscuous. Margaret Trudeau was a partier who unquestionably had sex with men while married to Pierre. Nobody knows if Pierre objected. They met when he was 48 and she was 18. They got married when he was 53 and she was 23. Their marriage surprised Canada because Pierre had been a lifelong playboy with no wife or children. He would be turning 60 when she was barely out of her 20’s. She publicly states today she suffered from bipolar disorder and self-control issues. She smuggled drugs in the Prime Minister’s official government luggage. She sneaked away from official functions to get high. She partied scantily clad at Studio 54. She became embroiled in a scandal for having sex with Ted Kennedy (gross). According to Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, Pierre broke up with her while she was having an affair with Ronnie Wood. The list goes on.

Today we might remember Fidel Castro as an old man, but he was one of the most impressive people in the world back then, especially to fellow Marxists like the Trudeaus. He forcefully deposed a brutal dictator with a band of rag-tag rebels. He turned Cuba into the Western world’s first Marxist country. He beat the Americans in an armed invasion by personally commanding the battle in a tank. He survived CIA coups and assassination attempts. He outlived two Kennedy brothers behind those attempts. He was smart, charming, and funny. He was 6’3, strong, and an athlete who sported the frame of an American football player. He looked like he could beat up any other word leader, much less any competitor for Margaret Trudeau’s attention. He was full of bravado, confidence, and masculinity and smoked cigars like a baller. Why would Pierre Trudeau chose anyone else to be the biological father of his children?

Bruce, never been to Canada but I doubt they use petrol to stop the diesel from gelling.

It doesn’t work. The material with the greatest propensity to form crystals will act as seed crystals for the remaining material. Spiking a fuel with a material that has less propensity to form crystals at low temperatures won’t alter the properties of the overall mix with respect to freezing/wax formation.

Novavax is indisputably better and safer than the other vaccines. That is why I (regrettably) told my employer I would take it.

Now if it is indisputably safer and more efficacious then what does it say about the safety and efficacy of the other vaccines?

From two different articles at Herald Sun :

“Extraordinary details released by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) have confirmed the protection provided by current vaccines can wane from 80 per cent to as little as zero in just four months.

The national drug regulator’s updated advice said “early estimates” of vaccine effectiveness against infection of the Omicron variant similarly indicated “lower initial vaccine effectiveness” from two doses of both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines.

At best, the estimates mean a double-dosed person will lose 50 per cent of their protection in just 120 days.

The initial estimate of 36-88 per cent protection “wanes rapidly to 0-34 per cent from about 4 months after the second dose”.

ATAGI said “steadily accumulated” data indicates that the numerous mutations within the spike protein receptor of the Omicron variant “facilitates immune escape” and therefore increases the likelihood of reinfection in individuals previously infected with earlier variants, and breakthrough infection of vaccinated individuals.

The updated advice says a Pfizer booster dose “appears” to restore moderate levels of effectiveness against symptomatic Omicron infection by 71 to 76 per cent.

“Vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation with Omicron shows a similar pattern of waning, falling to 52 per cent after a two-dose primary series,” the ATAGI release reads. “A booster dose increases vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation to 88 per cent.”

Australia recently shaved the waiting period for booster shots down to three months as the Omicron variant continues to rip through the east coast.

The advisory group stressed there “have been no safety signals of concern for an earlier booster dose given from three months after the primary series where this is used overseas (e.g. United Kingdom)”.

and

“Hospital chiefs have raised serious concerns about the suitability of the booster shot mandates with the Department of Health in recent weeks as they faced the prospect of losing hundreds, or even thousands of staff from their rosters.

It’s understood some hospital CEO’s requested a delay or even a scrapping of the mandate during a meeting with department management on February 1.

Despite several major hospitals each having more than 1500 staff members without records for having a booster shot, it is understood department secretary Euan Wallace made it clear during the meeting that no delay to the mandate would be considered.

Hospital sources told the Herald Sun they feared losing hundreds of staff from their already crippled rosters from February 12 through a combination of those returning from leave who had not vaccinated, a high number recovering from Covid who were delaying boosters, and others who had received jabs at GPs whose records did not filter into their employment records.

Hospital board chairs met with Health Minister Martin Foley on Wednesday night where they were told of wider concerns over the booster mandate, including concerns the abattoir sector was going to be the worst hit and a meat shortage loomed if a delay was not introduced.

But on Thursday some Melbourne hospitals were finalising official notifications to some staff informing them there was no record of them having received a third vaccine and that they would not be able to work from Monday when they received an 11th hour reprieve.

Australian Industry Group Victorian head Tim Piper said there are also “plenty of other industries”, including meatworks, that had pleaded for more time to get workers boosted.

Mr Piper said without urgent intervention, Victoria’s “vital supply chain” was at serious risk”.

Do they, actually, pay sports administrators? .. This weekend’s fixture list for the A League comprises of 3 games on Saturday afternoon/night yet both evening fixtures are scheduled to kick-off at the same time! .. tomorrow they have two night games allocated but the 2nd game starts well before the 1st match is finished ..
I mean, how hard is it to ensure all the matches are scheduled so fans can watch them all, if they want too? .. The A League is played across the country not all in one city so the only way to follow multiple games is via broadcasting yet here we have a, so called, top sports contender making a complete hash of the schedule and ensuring selective viewing choice(s) ..

FBI Investigating Inflated COVID Numbers Exposed by Project Veritas Whistleblower Jeanne Stagg

[Washington, D.C.- Feb. 11, 2022] The FBI is investigating the subject of a recent Project Veritas story on COVID-19 cases potentially being inflated for financial incentives such as higher federal reimbursements and faster turnaround. It appears that those who submitted these inflated COVID numbers may be the subject of this FBI inquiry.

Project Veritas founder and CEO, James O’Keefe, broke the news in a video from the Washington D.C. Capitol building after meeting with members of Congress to discuss the news. Below is his full statement:

The FBI is looking into a video released by Project Veritas featuring the whistleblower, Jeanne Stagg, from Louisiana. The videos released by Jeanne Stagg indicated how hospitals were potentially inflating COVID numbers in exchange for government money. People came into the hospital for other reasons, like gunshot wounds and accidents, but they were being labeled as a COVID case. We just came from inside the Capitol building, where we talked about this story to various members of Congress and their staff. We also talked about the abuse of power by the Department of Justice against journalists, but in this case, it appears as though the FBI is legitimately investigating the journalism that we’ve done, looking into it, and is trying to expose the fraud that we uncovered.

This piece in The Hun about the floor-crossing MP starts off really well.

Ms Vaghela, who is facing expulsion from Labor after sensationally crossing the floor to vote to have the Andrews government’s red shirts election rorts reinvestigated, said she was left mentally and physically broken by a toxic culture fuelled by the party’s ongoing factional infighting.

Speaking to the Saturday Herald Sun, Ms Vaghela said people close to Daniel Andrews, including a key adviser, threatened, intimidated and harassed her after she defected to the party’s Right faction and entered parliament.

“They wanted to break me mentally, physically, and psychologically,” she said. “They thought if they did this I would get tired and walk away, they wanted me to walk away. I was determined not to.”

Good. That’s pretty good. There’s also mention of her being the first Labor MP to cross the floor since 1987. All promising stuff. But then, as usual:

“He has a problem with women, but he also has a problem with anyone who doesn’t hold the same views as him or doesn’t do what he wants,” she said.

“He will take revenge. Everybody’s scared. That’s why nobody says anything against him. And anyone, any woman that does, they disappear. Like Jenny Mikakos. “People don’t see his real side. He’s a misogynist, that is what he is.

Just has to be about gender. Again. Then she quotes what she wrote to Andrews’ advisers once:

“Please remember that if anything ever happens to me or my family, then only you and your office will be fully liable.”

And, finally and predictably, the destruction of credibility is complete:

“I can’t go anywhere or to any event alone anymore, as, if they are around and see me alone anywhere or at an event, and if no one is around, then I am sure I will be assaulted or hurt by the gang.”

Has one of them stood up for the right of workers to decline a medical procedure? Has one of them complained about the extended use of emergency powers? And so on. I can’t think of one.”

Nor can I. At least in the US there are progressives who are willing to think and speak outside the box…

Jimmy Dore
Glen Greenwald
Aaron Mate
Max Blumenthal
Matt Taibbi

and so on.

But here in Oz, I can’t think of one leftist/progressive willing to go up against the prevailing Nine/Guardian/ABC narrative….actually maybe one name….Chris Uhlmann….it’s a monoculture here.

The ATAGI rationale for boosting is hardly compelling when they push high percentages of effectiveness of a boost but at the same time point to Omicron dodging the vaccines.
I’ll use an anecdote even though they’re usually worth ignoring.

A young daughter of friends of ours was a committed anti vaxxer but had to relent as her money ran out and jobs stopped. She’s been double jabbed for only a little over two months and yet on Monday she got the coof. Feels sick and in bed ax his her brother who was jabbed a month earlier.

That sure as hell doesn’t sound like 80% effectiveness.

Not just this minute!

Well baby, me so fecund!

Mesofecund!

Me flower arrange you long time!

Yeah, we might have a flower party, or a flour party. How much?

Fifteen dollar!

Fifteen dollars for two bouquets?

No, $15 each!

Me flower arrange you long time! Mesofecund!

Fifteen dollar you say Papillion Soo Soo? I feel that these roses have stems that are far too long, thick and vascular!

Five dollars a bouquet!?

Me give you sachet, sachet, to extend flower life. Me fecund too much!

Five dollars is all this court order allows me to spend on weekends!

Okay, $10 per bouquet!

What flowers do we get for $10?

Every flower you want baby!

Everything?

Yes, everything!

You feel like spending your hard earned money? You know, half of these flower arrangers apparently have connections to less wholesome professions. The other half have gypsum poisoning.

Nick Cohen will have to do a few more chapters if and when he does a reissue of his marvelous book “What’s Left?”
The left have strayed right off the reservation into the badlands.
“In What’s Left, Nick Cohen takes the view that in the early twenty-first century ‘the left’ has lost its way. The main reason behind this, he argues, is that unbridled capitalism has won, market economies have proved themselves to be the best form of economic government and ‘the left’ is now consumed with hatred and bitterness over the death of socialism.”
The left is in cahoots with any despot, tyrant or cabal who promises to subdue da woikers and forge the new world order for which 1984 (or more recently East Germany) is the model.
Or, the breakdown being forced on the USA is an elaborate varied barrage of anything that fragments society, with the resultant collapse to be something like the collapse of the USSR. After that, they may think, a group of cognoscenti (aka oligarchs) will assume ownership of everything, and the left who helped with the project will be richly rewarded.

There is some serious hatred of the lesser folk amongst Australia’s elite.

The Left dropped the working classes over 50 years ago. After Czechoslovakia 1968, it was obvious the workers were never going to rise up in a revolution and install the Left as their rulers.
The evidence that western working classes were better off then anyone in a socialist state was obvious. East Germany 1953, Hungary 1956, Soviet Union 1962, Czech & Poland 1968, etc.

The workers were too happy with their lot. The Left set out to make their lives miserable with Multiculturalism, Feminism and the rest of their agenda.

Today’s working classes are just bigoted, redneck, homophobic, islamophobic, transphobic, misogynistic trash as far as the Left are concerned.
Also, too many of them still like their country’s history, flag and monarchy. Too many of them like Israel as well.

Am in the middle of an estimated 100,000 people here at Parliament House in Canberra. Unbelievable amount of cars on highway coming in from other states. Police look very concerned. Don’t think they expected anything like this. Horn honking and jovial banter as we drove in, the diverted by police blockade before the bridge leading across main bridge over Lake Burley. Amazingly found a park nearby & walked with a moving mass of people of all ages, most with banners. SO many families, children, dogs etc etc. all good natured and in earnest..Of all the banners, one of most frequent was “hands off our kids”, followed by cri de Coeur s of “freedom”,”my body, my choice” et al.

Johnny Farnham “You are the Voice” ringing out over loudspeakers. Shivers down the spine.

From Mak Siccar’s link:

Somewhere in the Australian political sewer, floating next to the Liberal Party, exists the Flux Party. The Flux Party’s platform is essentially electronic mobocracy.

They have an app, an ‘ecosystem’ that allows citizens to direct their representatives’ votes on legislation. Essentially, the member of Parliament (for this Party) would vote per the instructions of the majority of their constituents.

Elected Flux MPs and Senators give up their autonomy and use their votes in line with the outcomes produced by the Flux ecosystem

No judgment. No value-add. No debate to find the greater truth.

I had a discussion with a Liars high flyer about 20 years ago. I asked him why, if we have secret votes for the election of politicians, they do not have secret votes for the laws they pass. After an initial conversation, and some further email correspondence, he essentially said that, if he had wanted to exercise independent judgement he would not have joined the Labor (Flux) Party.
