John Howard? What a rat he’s turned out to be.

IIRC Howard was once caught out by the same question in a TV interview & copped heaps over it.

Though IIRC Howard was off the mark by a quarter of a percent, saying 6.25% instead of 6.5%
& saying it categorically.

Howard’s error was 1/26 of the cash rate.
Albanese’s was greater than 1/3
Worse for Albanese: He hadn’t a clue what the rate was & was having a stab in the dark. (“I think“)

Howard still should have his bum kicked. He’s lost a fair bit of his “Elder of the Party” cred over this.

I loved the stories about Pablo congealing into an impenetable lump – although how sweepings from the floor do that is a mystery.

Not mentioned much here, but Chris Bailey, singer of The Saints, died the other day.

I got to know him briefly in the late 70s when they were in Sydney. Nice guy, razor wit. An Irish romantic, managed to make a living all his life as a musician/composer which is not easy.

Composed and performed by him, Ghost Ships.

The Alpha Male boss of Radio Birdman Denis Tek dissed him as a drunken Irishman, which he was, but the real issue was that this apparently woozy chap from the pub had a passion and talent for music which was to last for the rest of his life. Tek went on to do other things, Chris Bailey stuck with music.

As I said at The Other Place, I got to know him for a bit before they emigrated.

One of the few genuinely nice people I ever met in that industry.

Ghost Ships.

Hmm, I wonder if this teacher would have been terminated if she’d attended a BLM protest or a Free Palestine protest?

“Mudgee Public School teacher sacked over lockdown protest amid staffing shortage

A Western NSW teacher with more than 18-years serving the Education Department was sacked after attending a peaceful lockdown protest. See the latest here.

The NSW Education Department has been criticised after a veteran Western NSW teacher was sacked for attending a “peaceful, silent protest” against NSW Government Covid lockdowns last year — resulting in her being placed on a do-not-employ list.

The teacher, who has been an educator for more than 18 years, was investigated and fired by the Education Department’s Director of Child Protection after she attended a “peaceful silent protest” against Covid lockdowns at Robertson Park, Mudgee in August last year.

In a letter issued on January 26, the teacher — who did not wish to be named — was informed that her employment as a temporary teacher at Mudgee Public School had been terminated.

“(The teacher) was accompanied by another departmental employee from the same school,” a letter by Director of Child Protection Sarah Parry said. “The alleged conduct was in contravention of the NSW Public Health Orders and of departmental and school policies.

“(The teacher) has since had her contract at the school terminated.””

The useless Sarah Mitchell, NSW Minister for Education, who like Matt Kean, belongs in the Greens.

Mmm.

Queensland yesterday recorded the fourth-highest number of triple-0 calls for an ambulance on record. Health Minister Yvette D’Ath can’t say what’s causing it.

Last week, Telstra in both Queensland and NSW have had to initiate a recorded message protocol informing people of long delays.

Ambulance Commissioner Craig Emery said the ambulance service saw an additional 400 code ones, the highest level of emergency.

The government is still gathering information to find out why there was a spike in calls yesterday, Ms D’Ath said.

“Sometimes you can’t explain why those things happen,” she said.

Zachary Rolfe stood trial in-part due to expert evidence in $100K report, documents reveal

Constable Zachary Rolfe was committed to stand trial in the Northern Territory Supreme Court based in-part on the expert evidence of a Crown witness paid almost $100,000 to produce a 12-page report supporting its murder charge.

The Australian can now reveal the reasons Judge John Birch provided when committing Constable Rolfe to stand trial over the shooting death of Indigenous man Kumanjayi Walker after the lifting of a suppression order.

Following a three-day committal hearing at Alice Springs in September 2020 Judge Birch said the matter would proceed to trial based in-part on the evidence of the prosecution’s subject matter expert Geoffrey Alpert who was later dropped from the case.

This comes after The Australian on Monday revealed that the NT Police had awarded a contract worth almost $100,000 to the American criminologist to provide a 12-page report about whether the second and third shots fired by Constable Rolfe were legally justified.

Emails obtained by The Australian also revealed Professor Alpert repeatedly altered his report following discussions with detectives investigating Walker’s fatal shooting at the remote outback community of Yuendumu on November 9, 2019.

When delivering his decision to commit the case to trial, Judge Birch specifically referenced the evidence of Professor Alpert and NT Police use-of-force expert Detective Senior Sergeant Andrew Barram.

Det-Sgt Barram had told the court during committal that police training involved options including firing two shots in rapid succession – a double tap – and firing continuously until the threat had ceased.

“Detective Sergeant Barram’s evidence is that the first shot discharged by the defendant was justified in the circumstances,” Judge Birch said in his ruling which was, at the time, prohibited from publication.

“The shots fired by the defendant did not incapacitate the deceased’s right arm, which is not visible on the body-worn video, but is more likely than not pinned under the deceased’s body.”

Professor Alpert, from the University of South Carolina, gave evidence via video link at Constable Rolfe’s committal that the first shot the young cop fired was justified, but that the second and third shots were not.

“If the first and second shots were fired as a double-tap, he (Prof Alpert) would accept that as a reasonable response in the circumstances,” Judge Birch said.

“Therefore, it’s been submitted the defendant did nothing other than comply with the training given to him by the Northern Territory Police Force.”

However, Crown Prosecutor Philip Strickland SC argued that it was an essential part of Constable Rolfe’s training to reassess the need for further lethal force after the first shot was fired.

“I accept the submission is open for a jury to find there were several options available to the defendant, other than shots two and three,” Judge Birch said.

“Detective Sergeant Barram and Dr Alpert detailed those.

“Dr Alpert would accept if two shots were fired as a double-tap at the time the deceased was standing and the defendant was stabbed, he would (support) those discharges.”

Constable Rolfe fired shots two and three after his Immediate Response Team partner Adam Eberl wrestled Walker to the ground.

“Dr Alpert clearly differentiates between the first shot and the second and third shots,” Judge Birch said.

“Based on Dr Alpert’s evidence, I am not prepared to reject his opinion and I am not satisfied a jury, properly instructed, would do so either.

“Similarly, Detective Sergeant Barram’s evidence is reliable on the issue and I’m not satisfied to reject it.

“The jury is also able to accept his view in relation to those shots, police training and a number of other matters in which he gave evidence on.”

In making his decision, Judge Birch also considered the professor’s evidence about the police body-worn video footage of the shooting.

“I do accept the submission that the body-worn video must be considered in real time, but noting the evidence of Dr McIntosh and Dr Alpert, it doesn’t lose its relevance when viewed frame by frame, despite its shortcomings identified by those experts,” he concluded.

But without explanation, the prosecution dropped Professor Alpert before Constable Rolfe’s trial started and relied primarily on the expertise of Det-Sgt Barram to execute its case.

Constable Rolfe was last month found not guilty of murder and the back-up charges of manslaughter and engaging in a violent act causing death.

A fortnight ago the NT’s Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Michael Riches announced an investigation into “allegations of improper conduct” related to Constable Rolfe being charged with murder just four days after the shooting.

Prior to this NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner said he did not believe an independent inquiry was necessary because the case had been subjected to a committal hearing before Constable Rolfe stood trial.

“Police have a process to make sure that their investigation stacks up, then the prosecution also has a responsibility to only take anything forward that they think has a reasonable chance at success,” he said.

“And then there’s a stage again at the courts where a case has to genuinely stack up.”

He subsequently issued a statement saying that he “fully supports” the ICAC decision to investigate the process that led to Const Rolfe being charged.

Constable Rolfe’s defence barrister David Edwardson QC said he was “relieved” about the ICAC’s decision to investigate.

“In my view it is warranted and appropriate,” he said.

“Hopefully the question of whether there was or wasn’t political interference will now be resolved one way or the other.”

It’s possible to obtain publicly available anonymised mobile phone “ping” data, that allows you to track a single phone (without knowing the number or anything else) over pretty much any period you want. In Wisconsin, some mob got several trillion of these records covering the period where “vote by mail” was allowed. During that time there were several thousand records of people going to drop box locations, an average 26 times each (data can be accurate to a few cm, apparently). They even have corroborating CCTV images, sufficient to be sure this was actually ballot “drops” and they were the same person. I don’t have any information on how many ballots may have been “dropped” at any particular time/place.
And this was only a single city, not the entire state.
Ballot “harvesting” – where a 3rd party collects ballots and drops them off – is illegal in Wisconsin.
Apparently, charges are being referred to the DA by the Wisconsin State Senate regarding these events.

When “Qantana” and her entourage of flight attendants sashayed onto the Sydney Cricket Ground during the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade in March, she wore a sparkling, sequined version of the familiar Qantas uniform that is designed by Paris-based Australian Martin Grant.

Oh yes…bring it on……Ms Keneally has Covid and if she’s got a sore throat, this won’t make her throat feel any better….

“Local independents Dai Le, Frank Carbone to take the fight to Kristina Keneally in Fowler

A highly successful local political independent team will campaign against Anthony Albanese’s hand-picked candidate for the Western Sydney seat of Fowler, former NSW Premier and Labor Senator, Kristina Keneally.

Fairfield city mayor, Frank Carbone, and deputy mayor, Dai Le, who got 90 per cent of the western Sydney local government area vote last December, have decided to campaign against Senator Keneally who lives in Sydney’s salubrious northern beaches areas.

Ms Le, a Vietnamese refugee who has lived and worked in Fairfield all her life in Australia, will be the independent candidate supported in the campaign by Mr Carbone.

Ms Le told The Australian on Tuesday: “I have been humbled by my opportunity to represent the local people so far and want to fight for locals here is Western Sydney.”

“It would be wrong of me to go to the rich northern suburbs and try and get elected there and it is the same for Kristina Keneally to try and run here in Western Sydney,” she said.

The revelation came as Scott Morrison campaigned in the neighbouring Labor seat of Parramatta where another outside candidate, former Kevin Rudd adviser, Andrew Charlton, was parachuted into the candidacy from the Eastern suburbs.

The Prime Minister spruiked the local ties for the Liberal candidate, Maria Kovacic, and said: “She’s from Western Sydney, she’s run businesses in Western Sydney. She’s raised her family here in Western Sydney.”

In Fowler, the retiring Labor MP, Chris Hayes, wanted a local woman to replace him and supported lawyer Tu Le but she was dumped by the ALP national executive and replaced by Senator Keneally who lives on Scotland Island in Pittwater in northern Sydney and has promised to live in the western suburbs electorate if she is elected.

Mr Carbone and Ms Le ran an independent team for the Fairfield City council elections and won 10 of the 13 spots.

Labor Party MPs have appealed to Mr Carbone, a former Labor member, not to run amid speculation the two local politicians would pair for the federal election on May 21.

Mr Carbone told The Australian he had decided not to run himself because of family reasons but, he said, he would be campaigning fully for Ms Le as part of a strategy they have been working on for months.

“We will run a big campaign, we have videos ready, posters and local campaigners because we believe it is an insult to the people of the west to have an outsider forced on them,” he said.

Ms Le said that during the Covid-19 lockdowns Western Sydney had been treated as outcasts and “demonised by the affluent and privileged suburbs of Sydney”.

“I want to represent local people and as an independent get federal funds directed to this area,” she said.

Based on local government and state government elections Mr Carbone thinks Ms Le can get 30 per cent of the primary vote, and given the number of other independents and the Liberal candidate, Senator Keneally will find it difficult to reach a primary vote which will give her victory.”

Anything, anything to terminate Nobody’s Girl.

Hi Jc, that I agree with him on the following issues: it is a relatively new vaccine platform and there are many unknowns and caveats that also make me uncomfortable. There certainly are possible off-target effects with the current formulation but it is fair to say that the majority of the lipid nanoparticles are taken up by the intended antigen presenting cells with good humeral and cellular anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunity. I have not seen many reports of endarteritis or vasculitis following vaccination and like myocarditis it is much more common following SARS-CoV-2 infection itself. I am not convinced that there is evidence for the other doomsday off-target effects described and that the risk of mRNA vaccines itself is lower than getting infected without being vaccinated. I also agree that at this stage I would rather get subunit influenza vaccine. Seeing that he hasn’t yet had a mRNA COVID vaccine I would still recommend that he gets the Novavax vaccine or AstraZeneca if he hasn’t already.

In other words, there’s some nonsense doomsday stuff contained in the metallurgical biologist’s comment from yesterday. Just trying to keep it real. 🙂

Nope. As a West Aussie I have only ever heard or used “Route” as in “root”. “Route” as in “clout” is a classic Americanism.

Not going to disagree over regional dialects.
However I’ve only ever heard it pronounced “stock root” by people who’ve not pushed a mob along one. Usually hipsters who’ve discovered landcare without ever having been west of Strathfield.

(This may be one of the many very serious differences between Kimberley/Pilbara & the rest of cattle country & possible justification for civil war.)

When I was a kid, old fellers pronounced it “route” as in “shout”**. To these blokes a “root” was the name for the underground part of a tree & they would never have imagined it would later take on the “push-push” meaning.
Interestingly the same blokes would sometimes say “root” when talking of along which road to drive.
I never gave it much thought, mostly being amazed by the way their fingers would expertly roll Log Cabin into a tallyho tube, while somehow managing to spill what seemed like half the tobacco onto the pub floor.

(** even though the schoolteacher told us it is pronounced “root”, though with the caveat that stockmen would say “rout” – which pretty much ended the discussion, coz the only grownups we knew were stockmen.)

Stuff substack. I have as much faith in those as I do in the MSM. Others should have the same attitude. Read the actual report that they linked(x2) and you’ll realise they overlooked some critical data. Look at page 16, explain why the unvaccinated have much higher hospitalisation rates and death rates(Table 4B). Completely destroys the argument of negative efficacy. The other issue to think about is that the unvaccinated which constitute a minority or people typically with a very big axe to grind, are the least likely to report an infection.

Renewed calls to lower voting age to 16
Chloe Whelan
CHLOE WHELAN
With the election looming, advocates and academics are renewing calls for the voting age to be lowered to 16. Bills to make the change are up for debate in NSW and the ACT.

The ACT’s Lowering Voting Age and Increasing Voter Participation Bill, introduced by the Greens, would extend the vote to 16- and 17-year-olds in territory elections. The NSW Greens last month proposed a similar bill, which would allow but not require the teenagers to vote in their state.

Both bills are yet to be voted on. Last month, a parliamentary inquiry recommended the ACT legislation not be passed, claiming the territory would incur extra costs for keeping a separate electoral roll and processing extra voters each election.

Advocates for the change, however, claim key issues like climate change and housing affordability necessitate youth voting. They point to findings, such as a 2020 report by the Actuaries Institute, that Australian government funding skews towards older people.

“Young people today are growing up having to navigate a climate crisis and global conflict, issues in relation to high housing costs in Australia and challenges in the economy,” says Faith Gordon, legal professor at ANU, who penned a submission in favour of the ACT legislation. “They really do have the greatest at stake in relation to the political process and decisions that are being made.”

As for claims young people are too politically uninformed to vote, advocates say it’s unfair to hold youth to higher standards than the rest of the population.

“Responsibility and political knowledge are not compulsory criteria for voters over the age of 18,” the ACT Council of Social Services said in their endorsement of the ACT bill. “There is no onus on adult voters to prove such responsibility or knowledge.”

There is evidence that lowering the voting age would increase political engagement for young people, Professor Gordon claims, noting that in the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, 16- and 17-year-olds turned up in higher numbers than their 18 to 20-year-old peers.

Scotland is just one of a host of countries, including Switzerland, Austria, parts of Germany and several Latin American countries, that have lowered the voting age. This month, the Scottish government will consider whether to allow 16- and 17-year-olds to run for office.

If passed, the ACT and NSW bills would be the second time an Australian jurisdiction has lowered the voting age, after the Whitlam government pulled it down from 21 to 18 country-wide.

Then-opposition leader Bill Shorten added his name to the movement’s list of supporters in 2015, calling on the government to lower the voting age to 16 or 17. Mr Shorten claimed it was unfair to ask 16- and 17-year-olds to pay taxes if they could not vote.

THE CURRENT THING: George Soros Loses BIG in Hungary

In this episode of The Remnant Underground, Michael J. Matt discusses the Current Thing as defined, for the point of this discussion, by GK Chesterton a hundred years ago.

What is the Current Thing and how is it being used – from Covid to Ukraine – to create ‘right thinking’ throughout the world and to punish anyone who questions the current narrative.

Case in point: Viktor Orbán, the prime minister of Hungary. Against all odds (and opposition from the entire Soros machine), Orbán won a fourth term last week. Did you hear about that? No? Maybe that’s because they don’t want us to know about that.

If we think of Orbán at all, the media will help us to think of him not as a family man and father of 5 beautiful children, but rather as a goose-stepping Nazi who’s coming to take us away, oh my!

So, what’s Orbán all about, and what does his stunning victory portend?

Michael takes a deep dive, and then uses the media misinformation about Orbán to make his case that we’re being lied to about a lot of things going on in the world today, including and especially the war in Ukraine. And it’s time to wake up.

Plus, you won’t believe what Francis has done now! Just like with Covid, he’s leading the globalist charge in Ukraine.

This is possibly the only time I’ve ever say this. I can’t see how the msm could be doing a more effective job in regards to the war. They are on the Uke side, which I obviously grant but how would those calling the MSM corrupt expect them to gather the information? Do you expect them to go to hot war areas and watch the shooting match? Even if they did ,they would only be seeing a microcosm of what’s going on and therefore it would be be next to useless. They obviously have to rely on the information provided by the respective propaganda offices. The one problem on the Russian side is that they’ve banned a lot of the western media from reporting from their side.

Vicki
Vicki
April 12, 2022 4:36 pm

The other issue to think about is that the unvaccinated which constitute a minority or people typically with a very big axe to grind, are the least likely to report an infection.

Totally anecdotal, I know – but not a single person I know who is unvaccinated has tested positive to COVID. Now, these are all people who, when needing to see family, regularly tested themselves. However, now that the virus is rampant, and the vaccinated are mostly not as wary of the unvaccinated, they don’t test so regularly. Nevertheless, I am confidant that, like me, they would test at any suspicious sign of infection. As for notifying of a positive test – I can’t see why, speaking for myself, they would be any less likely to notify than the vaccinated. After all, we have been (resentfully) compliant with all their blasted rules for 2 years.

Now, why is are the unvaccinated so far free of the virus? Probably because virtually all of them, like my husband and I, determined to remain as physically fit and healthy as possible to resist infection. Like us, they are aware of recommended protocol for early infection and/or treat themselves prophylactically (as we do) with the vitamins et al recommended by the FLCCC. Despite the hysteria around everything “Covid” – it really isn’t “rocket science”. Even so, none of us believe we will remain virus free, but are hopeful, that even if we contract it, we have every chance of our immune systems coping well.

People do know that covid was rampant in Melbourne (and possibly Sydney?) child care centres and primary schools late last year, none of the children in child care or primary schools were vaccinated (primary school vaccination was only approved from 10 January this year)
Doesn’t support the pandemic of the vaccinated argument.

John Howard is correct to say that Albanese having no idea of the Unemployment Rate or the Cash Rate is no big deal.
Gotcha Politics is the Labor Party’s territory and it hasn’t done them much good.
Albanese’s inappropriate response, where he started berating the Questioner, that’s a different story.
Albanese has Anger Issues and those Issues are always close to the surface.

Salvatore, Understaffed & Overworked Martyr to Govt Covid Stupidity

A mob of sheep?

Exactly! (“Herd“, haha) That’s far from the only glaring misuse of a word in the workaday cattle industry.
Eg: “Weaner” is in general use in Australia as the noun for a calf being weaned away from the cow.
+ there are lotsa other informal words in use.

Obviously the cattle industry requires more professors to instruct yokels in correct use of English, lest they not understand each other.

Rosie, my family all got it via the kids. Ran through preschool and primary like head lice.

Children mildly unwell, parents varied in level from go to bed and sleep it off to Panadol and soldier on. The women were the most ill, possibly because they were a bit run down.

Now my doc has it via his own kids and is isolating, hence the phone consult. And yes, most likely a poorly jabbed arm for me that came a little too close to the nerve. To think the idiots were co opting beauticians to give the jabs. An ultrasound is a month away. Yay.

How does that address the official lying of UKR and its surrogates, and the uncritical amplification of these lies by the MSM designed to draw NATO, etc. into a hot war with RUS?

Not sure which MSM you’re reading, but I’m not seeing any jingoism in the UK, Frog, or Kraut media about joining into a hot war with Russia.

They certainly accept everything coming out of Zelenskiy as gospel. And accept obviously suss reports at face value:

The far-right Ukrainian Azov regiment said: “Russian occupation forces used a poisonous substance of unknown origin against Ukrainian military and civilians in the city of Mariupol, which was dropped from an enemy drone.

But nobody I can see in the local media, or mainstream politics is advocating for NATO to go storming into Ukraine. Even Zelenskiy appears to have picked up that message.

Leave opinion writing aside, how would report on the war? How would you gather information?

Yes, opinions out and report ALL facts. Not the regurgitated propaganda and 5th/6th hand
I was told” pieces , garbage we are being fed now. Start with the facts about the Ukr coup, the oppression and mass murder of ethnic Russians in Ukraine , the thrue role of nazism in Ukraine’s politics. Everyone knows Russia is in Ukraine but what exactly are they doing? What I’m seeing and reading is Russia looking after the occupied territories- pensions, welfare, schools back. That doesn’t fit the narrative of the blood thirsty murderous conquerors MSM want you to believe.

And FFS let’s get real, the Russ have enough ammo, artie, tanks and air power to flatten any city in Ukr they want to. But they aren’t. Another narrative fail the MSM don’t want punters to twig to.

All the MSM is reporting, and you appear to be supporting, is the fake news, propaganda, made up horse shit coming out of Zhelensky’s office.

Why do you think the booster wanes so quickly and all the jab deaths are blamed on covid?
Do you think that message would be getting out if they didn’t want you to be fighting off others to get your weekly jab, as it wanes so fast?
Why do you think Mr WEF, Greg Hunt, bought all those millions and millions of doses?

Why weren’t people dying OF covid before the vaccines , but WITH covid and extreme old age….all in old folks homes most likely.
Does any of this go through to your clotted minds?

This excerpt came from his reply to me:

There certainly are possible off-target effects with the current formulation but it is fair to say that the majority of the lipid nanoparticles are taken up by the intended antigen presenting cells with good humeral and cellular anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunity.

Can you critique and explain why you believe the majority of the lipid antiparticles aren’t taken up by the intended antigen cells in the good humeral and cellular …..”

Do you think you know the truth/ accurate news? If not then you don’t know anything that’s going on in real life as it’s all lies.

No, I don’t claim that I know all the truth. I know some. Enough to smell the bs being spewed by MSM.
It’s funny watching all these “leaders” of the Western world cry about the rise of authoritarianism when for the last two years they were openly spitting on our rights, constitutions, laws all in the name of “keeping us safe”, cheered on by the MSM (being handsomely paid by our taxes, or by people whose names cannot be mentioned here, because “conspiracy!”). And I can see similar MO in the “current thing”, which we were told we are all supposed to support.
For example, what’s the point for the Russian army to do something like the Ukrainians claimed they did in Bucha? What does it achieve? How do they benefit? I smell bs, especially after seeing videos of the “corpses” moving. And there are many examples like this.
So far, I haven’t seen anything that makes me doubt that the stated goals on Ukraine are not what Putin is trying to achieve there.
I can also see the rise of anti-Russian sentiment here in KZ, being nudged on by foreign NGOs and local nationalists (they might be a real deal or paid actors for all I know). Is this a natural reaction to the current events or something that was planned? I don’t know the answer to this question, but I’m suspicious.

And I think that’s the best anyone can hope for in today’s world – know enough to smell the bs through the wall of propaganda.
