The Towkester was a shithouse candidate who didn’t have a hope of holding heavily AngloSaxon Cook in the 2007 RuddSlide.

A perfect illustration of the contempt for the views of their membership and voters that has brought the Liberal Party undone.

Wow, the revolutionary 60’s left were a bunch of serial perverts in france.

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2022/may/14/camille-kouchner-familia-grande-olivier-duhamel-abuse-interview

RTWT, France is the closest you will get to thinking ‘there might be something about red shoes/tunnels and missing kids after all’..

In it, Kouchner accuses her stepfather of sexually abusing her twin brother when they were teenagers.

That stepfather is Olivier Duhamel, an intellectual heavyweight well known in France as president of the National Foundation of Political Science (FNSP), the board that oversees the governance of Sciences Po, the prestigious university attended by much of France’s political class. Also a leading political commentator on radio and television, Duhamel sat at the summit of French cultural and intellectual life – until, that is, his stepdaughter’s revelation…

A year earlier, in 2020, Vanessa Springora’s Consent (translated into English by Natasha Lehrer), had shone another ugly light on the mores of the 70s and 80s in French intellectual quarters. Her testimony revealed how, aged 13, she was first groomed and then abused for two years by the 50-year-old writer Gabriel Matzneff who was renowned for his sexual taste for adolescents. He even published an essay entitled “Under 16 Years Old” in 1974, in which he wrote “To sleep with a child, it’s a holy experience, a baptismal event, a sacred adventure”. At the time, nobody batted an eyelid (under French law children of any age could arguably “consent” to sex with an adult, including blood relatives).

The family was at the heart of the left-leaning French cultural elite. Her mother was Évelyne Pisier, a renowned feminist and political scientist who had had a four-year affair with Fidel Castro in the 60s. Her father is Bernard Kouchner, one of the founders of Médecins Sans Frontières, and a key player in different governments on the left and right: he was health minister under François Mitterrand and then Jacques Chirac, and foreign affairs minister under Nicolas Sarkozy. Her aunt, Marie-France Pisier, was talent-spotted aged 16 by the New Wave film director François Truffaut and enjoyed a long screen acting career.

I knew their little games. Some of the parents and children at Sanary kissed one another on the mouth. My stepfather would ‘warm up’ his friends’ wives. The friends came on to the nannies. Young men were offered to older women. I remember, under the table, my stepfather stroking a woman’s leg. I remember my mother’s explanation when I relayed it to her: ‘There is no harm. I know about it. Fucking is our freedom.’

But was it allowed with my brother, too?

Hmmmmm….

That does appear to be a significant ‘blip’ in deaths.

Im more inclined to put it down to self harm/drugs/despondency brought about by the restrictions and closures rather than the jab, at least without better info.

Seems to be around twice more than the average dying in those age groups.
https://behindtheblack.com/behind-the-black/points-of-information/are-the-covid-vaccines-killing-people-over-time-the-data-suggests-yes/

Something is killing off large numbers of 25- to 54-year-olds in the United States, and the powers that be in government and the media are pretending it is not happening. There is no visible effort to study the alarming statistics gathered by actuaries for the life insurance industry, which keeps track of deaths because they directly impact their bottom line through claims from the insured. Seems immune system problems are on the rise, significantly.

Albo and Greens will take us back to Whitlam chaos years Terry McCrann

8:48PM May 13, 2022
62 Comments

If as now seems all but certain we emerge with an Albanese-led Labor-Green government, it will be a return not to a 1980s Hawke-Keating future but to the Whitlam chaos years of the 1970s.

Let me hasten to make two very salient points.

I am most definitely not suggesting that Anthony Albanese will or indeed ever could be Gough Whitlam Version 2.0.

To borrow from a certain late US senator, I – very distantly, as a young journalist – “knew” Gough Whitlam; Mr Wannabe-PM, and now it seems PM-in-Waiting, you’re no Gough Whitlam.

Whitlam had as PM an imperial grandeur that no prime minister since has equalled or even approached. And that was to a very significant extent exactly the problem. He sat above it all, as the chaos reigned and raged around the cabinet table, as each and every minister embarked like satraps on frolics of their own.

From the extraordinary 1974 budget that lifted spending by what can only be described as a breathtaking 40 per cent in a single year – true, “only” 20 per cent in real terms thanks to the raging inflation – to the Khemlani loans affair, and innumerable other imbroglios along the way.

It’s the chaos that a PM-Albo threatens, indeed promises to replicate; in large part I would venture to suggest in anticipation, precisely because he is no Gough, more what used to be called a milksop.

The satraps from Chris to Kristina will run as wild; while Jim, I also “knew” Paul, and Treasurer-in-Waiting, you’re no Paul Keating.

The second point is more chillingly substantive.

In all the discussion about hung parliaments and minority governments, with the focus on the fake independents in the lower house, the Greens in the Senate have been all but forgotten.

If Labor wins government, whether as a minority or in its own right, it will be in coalition with the Greens, even if only de facto.

Despite the fake claims – this is less a Seinfeldian election about nothing and much more one populated by fakes and fakery – about replicating Hawke-Keating, an Albo-led government would in policy and practice be all but indistinguishable from a Green one.

At a more basic level, while the nine or so Greens in the Senate after the election might not be able to guarantee a Labor-Green majority, a Labor government would not be able to get anything through the Senate without at least their support – apart from everyday bipartisan legislation.

And be afraid, be really afraid, if we get a Labor minority government, that would have to be, would leap to be, in coalition with fake independents in the lower house and with all-too-true Dark Greens in the upper.

So, we will have a Labor-Green government. It will embrace the chaos of the Whitlam years. It will be led by someone who in the past five weeks has shown he is quite simply not up to the job.

And here’s me, online and IRL, arguing with people that deny RUS successfully crossed Severdonetsk River in the last week and is preparing to breakout.

I agree that you should be very excited, Dover.

8 years and 80-odd days into their ‘Special Operation,’ and this is the first Russian feint that might actually succeed. 🙂

It’s a terrible shame though, that at the same time the Ukrainian counter-offensive that isn’t real has pushed Vlad Bae’s minions and their Donbassian proxy troops out of Kharkov and over the Russian border (and they wouldn’t let their loyal and heroic Ethnic Russian allies in!) threatening the top of the entire Izyum salient (and thus that entire front), Russian forces are digging in on the Kherson oblast instead of squaring up for a push to Odessa and pro-RU milbloggers on Telegram have finally caught onto the fact that the multiple attempts at crossing the Severskyi Donets this week was a bit of a mess, and are now publicly doubting their own Narrative and commanders…

For the next few weeks he pieced it together with my mother like some jigsaw problem to try to find out the cause of the suicide. Turns out it was drinking, gambling and carousing with floozies that bought about a financial collapse the wife taking off with the kids. Sordid story. As dad said “it was a bugger to clean up”.

Trader blog.

I don’t think it will happen, but as he says bear markets are very, very cruel. Generally, stock valuations shouldn’t be impacted much by politics until they are and this is a time they most certainly are by the most inept, dogmatically leftwing administration since the first two years of Clinton, which was when the Hildabeast was unofficially in charge.

Hiden closed down oil leases in Alaska and the Gulf last week. I’ve been thinking that these hooligans are quietly cheering for a potential recession as they are appalled by economic growth. They actually love high oil prices and the higher the price goes the better because it means it will encourage switching to electric or actually driving less.

Don’t any longer assume the left encourages economic growth as I believe they see it as a cancer on Gaia.

The truth is, markets are trying to discovery a price that can be called a “bottom” based upon valuations. Presently the market s trading 14.5x earnings on a median basis. This is not including the potential 40% decline in earnings. If we factor that in, the market would need to trade about 35% lower in order to be considered “cheap” on a historical basis. This of course is predicated on recession and high unemployment, none of those things are present today. If the economy doesn’t slow to a degree that would reduce earnings by 40% (I am using CSCO’s earnings drawdown in 2002, 2008 as my base case) then markets are 25% cheap right now.

So which is it? I have my assumptions, but like you, I haven’t the slightest fucking idea.

day one I said, the ukies should rush the to the negotiating table and abandon the donbass. would have save 10s of thousands of lives.

No question about it, Zipster. Yet no one in the West – particularly here – seems to have recognised the futility of the belief in a victory to Zelensky in expelling the Russian forces without massive losses – if it was at at all possible.

It is as if no one noticed that there had been an ongoing civil war in eastern Ukraine for the last 8 years. And this is in spite of the loss of Australian lives when the Malaysian airline was shot down in the midst of it all.

So, ceding to Russia all territories Vlad Bae’s troops took immediately after invading was going to somehow sate him and stop him doing it all again in a few years?

day one I said, the ukies should rush the to the negotiating table and abandon the donbass. would have save 10s of thousands of lives.

That would have been the pragmatic solution, but a number of factors prevented it, not least:

Zelensky doesn’t have the authority to cede Ukrainian territory without a referendum.

Putin was not engaged in a “minor incursion” but a major invasion with the goal of taking Kiev and territory in the south, which left the Ukrainians with no option but to defend their homeland. Now they’re not inclined ot make any concessions

As I’ve written before, there’s no shortage of blame to go around for this war; Putin certainly bears much of it, but also France & Germany for not pushing Ukraine to adhere to their agreements in Minsk II and the Americans for their usual inept meddling carried out under the cover of “spreading democracy”.

Negotiations are always a good idea but the assumption that Putin was only interested in Donbass is incorrect. The wide front was not a feint it was done in the hope of a quick collapse. Putin wants the whole country. How many Russians must die before Putin decides he should withdraw to protect his people? Why is Zelenskyy responsible for the deaths when Putin started the war?

Teal voters, they’re a bright bunch. The Age reports:

Kooyong independent candidate Monique Ryan’s decision not to allocate preferences on her how-to-vote cards is leading to invalid votes, prompting fears the confusion could hurt her chances of snatching the seat from Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

Ryan’s campaign, which has repeatedly stated that as few as 500 votes could decide the result, has been alarmed because some early voters have informed Ryan’s volunteers that they voted “1” for Ryan and did not allocate preferences to others.

A volunteer for Ryan’s campaign has suggested as many as “thousands” of ballots cast for Ryan could be invalid, potentially derailing her bid to unseat Frydenberg, who has spent the final weeks of the campaign in his electorate amid concerns the challenge from Ryan could be successful…..

that’s a nonsensical analogy. russia is not a nazi germany, ukraine is the nazi state that was preparing to attack its own ppl.

the ukrainians voted for peace they got an actor on a short leash that has led them into a war they can’t win. the death toll is well into the 10s of thousands and supposedly rising by 500 a day. at this rate the donbass army will be wiped out to the last man in about 3 months.

there is absolutely no reason why the ukes would reject a neutral or russian aligned government, it is the west led subversive colour revolutions that agitate for conflict.

Why is Zelenskyy responsible for the deaths when Putin started the war?

Because the vast majority of right-leaning folks barracking for a Russian victory right now are psychically punishing Ukraine for the sins of the US Democrats from 2016 to now. They only got interested in the Obama-era activity to further justify their Opposition To The Current Thing.

The Russiagate bullshit started with a Ukranian PR firm paid by Hillary to tip the political balance.

Democrat wonks and Big Persons had been cultivating contacts and influence there, and raking in the dosh from them since 2014. Hunter Biden is but one example.

And allegedly the entire EuroMaidan is exclusively the Americans’ fault, too.*

The average Ukrainian doesn’t get (and isn’t allowed) a say in any of this prognostication. And these folks take great offence at the fact that for the last 80 or so days (and 8 years before that), the average Ukrainian has been saying their piece on the matter. Quite loudly…

Bluey, the UAP has selected ordinary people for most of the seats and they are working hard, (I know a few), however a big problem showed up in the last week or so. For months they have been campaigning on ‘never trust the majors again’ and ‘sitting member last’. Their HTV cards came out late and the candidates were in the main not asked for what they thought would be good, some committee somewhere did the preference orders for all seats. Most candidates didn’t even know what their preferences were until the cards arrived. Many are very disappointed as in many seats the UAP have put the Libs well up on the tickets, often in front of One Nation and other ‘freedom’ candidates.

Clive was on TV and said that this may have happened in some electorates where few candidates were on the ballot but it also happened in seats with up to 10 candidates. More than a few unhappy UAP people out there. Many had their volunteers refuse to hand out the cards or do any more work. Many of those affected are now running a quite campaign and won’t be at any polling booths at all. Talk about an own goal from Clive.

How does Air New Zealand look?

They aren’t flying to NY at present. We could of course fly to LAX – I think they go there – and then go internal across to NY.

My travel sec is onto it – she does most of the research. I supply a list of battlefields and museums and so on, of course, in a kindly fashion. (This is actually a research trip on WWII bombers in reality….)

Visited Darwin Military Museum this morning – great place with many interactive displays. They also have a 13 minute feature on the bombing which was excellent. Good to see taxes spent wisely. Outside there’s a stack of old equipment and one particularly poignant one – an old rusted vehicle under a monstrous banyan tree with trunks coming up out of it. A tool of war returning to nature.

I bought two of Top Ender’s books from the little shop (my brush with celebrity!). Dad will get them for his 91st birthday.

We also did the tunnels but the Beloved had an asthma attack and had to get out. I soldiered on, natch. They were a familiar shape reminiscent of Baselgette’s London sewers – then I discovered why. The formwork used to construct them was stuff from the MWS&DB Sydney, all egg shaped.

Then on to the Aviation museum – and the B52 towering over all the other little planes like a chook with her clutch of fledglings. Bought a book there, too – on the Black Cats. My uncle featured in it, so will give it to the New Broom, his namesake.

Mindil markets this afternoon. Promise not to buy scented candles or other hippie crud.

Baggagewise I haven’t had too many problems with the Red Roo.

1 lost bag that I knew was left behind in BNE when I arrived at Blackwater. Even the next day with the DH8 in the air they still couldn’t tell me where thee bag was, till the flight landed and said errant bag unloaded.

Other time Transiting MEL-PER-SIN, B747 had a problem with aircon which would have had us missing the SIN connection. An A330 and crew was found setting us on our way but said bags were buried deep in the baggage bins in the B747. We were prewarned we would have baggage till it could be found and sent, 2am the next morning reception in Singapore rang saying our bags had been dropped in the foyer.

Had a couple of damaged bags that wasn’t a problem, was duly compensated. I agree with the above though on the Red Roo, Joyce despite being rumours I have heard he is one you are on eggshells around he has done a good job of turning the airline around. I particularly liked the shut down, I was in Singapore when I found out about it but was flying Jetstar fortunately.

On the House of Reps green form all boxes must be marked with a number 1 to however many candidates are listed. In our local electorate Chisholm we have 6 candidates so it needs to be 1 to 6. However if you only number 1 to 5 the remaining box is left blank the ARC advised it is inferred to be 6 and included for the count.
If the form is marked 1 only it is declared invalid and not included at all.
Bit of tough love there teals.

If only the Russians hadn’t spent the last 8 years using the Donbass and its citizens (regardless of who and what they view themselves as- Ukrainian or Russian) as a fig leaf for trying to take all of Eastern Ukraine by force.

You need a very big and sweet political carrot for your neighbours to accept your stated benignity, Zipster, if your stick is going to be years of Motorised and Tank Brigades attacking out of the territory you took from them by a mixture of political guile, exploiting legitimate popular grievances and brute forcing anyone there who didn’t fall in line with your actual plan. And there’s been no carrot for anyone.

Former US president Donald Trump’s prediction about George Washington and the “efforts of the haters to expunge him from history” has come “perfectly true,” Sky News host James Morrow says.

“First, cast your mind back to 2017, the early days of the Trump administration, when the then-president got into a fight with reporters over the Maoist attempts of the left to erase American history,” Mr Morrow said.

“At the time so-called expert historians said that Trump was just being his normal hyperbolic self and that there was absolutely positively no way revolutionary general and first president of the United States George Washington, or any other of the founding fathers for that matter, might be next on the cancel train.

“Not only is George Washington next, but there is now even a push on to rename even Washington DC’s George Washington University.

“The latest call for this has just been published in, wait for it, The Washington Post.”

“What are often derided as petty culture war fights are actually so important and worth being had because it’s not just important to look at whatever the demand being made around the current thing is in isolation – but to understand where it is heading next.”

Feelthebern:

Abbott Labs are on the front foot saying the two babies that died had nothing to do with their formula.
How long before someone inside the FDA spills the beans on the whole thing.

Looks like being a disaster for the Democrats.
People will forgive or accept a lot of shit, but don’t tamper with their kids.
These are the areas that are arousing the primal instincts of many US voters:
.1 Infant formulae,
.2 Child indoctrination,
.3 Abortion,
.4 ‘Safe Schools’.

The facts, however, are critical: A comprehensive investigation by Abbott, FDA and CDC found no evidence that our formulas caused infant illnesses. Specifically… [2/11]
So why has the government not allowed their production centers to open?
This looks like deliberate sabotage of the food chain to me.

CDC concluded its investigation with no findings of a link between our formulas and infant illnesses.

Ffs this old canard. Why don’t all of you who cast aspersions like this get off your collective arses and apply to work at an election and you can see what happens.

Bullshit.
Voted yesterday, all they say is number 6 above the line or 12 below the line, that’s only because I asked them what the system is this year.
In fact, it’s a minimum of 12 below the line, but the AEC drones are too lazy to tell you that.

Sheesh they allow you to vote ?
You are confusing the instructions for the Reps with the Senate instructions.

Also the lazy drones, as you put it, are reading the script they have been given. I bet you butted in being a smart arse before they had a chance to deliver the spiel. Because of morons like you who can’t tell the difference between the HoR and Senate, the instructions are simplified and tell you what you need to do for a valid vote. At the last election I worked people could not tell the difference between green and white and put their ballots in the wrong boxes.

Pelosi Opens Liquor Store In Congress

Lol one of the interns must have forgetten to fax through Nancy’s weekly booze order. Imagine the scene: she rolls into the office one morning and, as always, heads straight to the liquor cabinet to mix her breakfast martini…and it’s totally freaking Mother Hubbard! Perhaps Zipster, some things in geopolitics vastly transcend the domestic travails of one side or the other.

Sleepy Joe’s administration and the [Il-]Liberal Left establishment won’t collapse over this in the way a lot of people wish.

But all of Europe is watching and changing its mind about its own equilibrium. Especially those who stand to again become the new frontier states of a belligerent power with openly and repeatedly stated imperial ambitions.

What stopped it before now was the projection of strength from the US. Now we don’t have it, and any and all decent people beneath the feckless and foppish folks on both sides who led us here (just like the 1910s and 1930s) now have to make the best of a very bad situation.

Look further out than The Current Thing.

It’s a terrible shame though, that at the same time the Ukrainian counter-offensive that isn’t real has pushed Vlad Bae’s minions and their Donbassian proxy troops out of Kharkov and over the Russian border (and they wouldn’t let their loyal and heroic Ethnic Russian allies in!) threatening the top of the entire Izyum salient (and thus that entire front), Russian forces are digging in on the Kherson oblast instead of squaring up for a push to Odessa and pro-RU milbloggers on Telegram have finally caught onto the fact that the multiple attempts at crossing the Severskyi Donets this week was a bit of a mess, and are now publicly doubting their own Narrative and commanders

Ukrainian sources confirm this as correct.

MP Craig Kelly clashes with Ally over COVID-19 claims | Today Show Australia 3 FEB 21
Liberal MP Craig Kelly has clashed with Today Show host Ally Langdon over the spread of misinformation of COVID-19.

Was interesting as Kelly stood his ground and was quoting Prof Robert Clancy (see several articles by him at Quadrant Online). Langdon pretty much said everything Kelly was saying was misinformation and this included Hydrochloxychorline (spelling) which as subsequently been approved for Covid use in Qld.

Langdon is the perfect example of how MSM have tried to shut down anything that questions the Government line.
