Vikki Campion: Officer Zach Rolfe is not the bad guy for killing Kumanjayi Walker

Kumanjayi Walker was a violent offender who was shot dead after stabbing police officer Zach Rolfe and threatening his partner’s life. How has this monster been turned into a martyr, asks Vikki Campion.

The Saturday Telegraph

It is beyond belief that, in 2023, Australians are asking to spear a police officer for doing his job, and disgusting that a coroner could be perceived to entertain that thought by not refuting it whilst standing beside them.

The same coroner on Monday will examine the circumstances surrounding Kumanjayi Charles Arnold Walker’s death, a violent offender, who amongst a litany of crimes was shot after stabbing police officer Zach Rolfe and threatening his partner’s life.

How would spearing another member of the Rolfe family do anything for the Northern Territory town of Yuendumu but take it to new level of a Dante’s hell?

Rolfe’s family have pondered this since the coroner stood beside elders and allowed them to call for traditional payback, the spearing of both his legs.

“We want to see justice — we have not seen the blood of Zach Rolfe,” they said.

While Yuendumu demands blood for the death of Kumanjayi Walker, what’s been absent is demands for justice for those, including children, who suffered at his hands.

His violent history has been mischievously set aside in the hype. From a monster to a martyr.

What should be heard during the coronial inquiry is evidence from the one person who could shed light on Walker’s mindset on the night he died — an underaged girl and frequent victim of his rage, beaten with rocks, fists and feet, who was with him the day he escaped from a drug and alcohol centre until the fateful hour when, after stabbing a cop, he was shot.

What should be shown is the 70 minutes of footage of a wounded and shocked Rolfe desperately trying to save Walker’s life with army medical training.

What should be disclosed is that when the ambulance came to the scene to try to save Walker’s life, a paramedic was knocked out in a hail of projectiles. She hid under a desk in the police station that night, surrounded by police, and still thought she was going to die.

The coroner has never admonished or reprimanded the community in their actions attacking first responders.

One would assume a fulsome disclosure of all the facts, not the selection of a few to sensationalise and misinform the public are relevant.

It should disclose nurses were extracted from Yuendumu for their own safety.

What should be examined is how the Yuendumu community failed Walker from birth and failed those he brutalised in his violent history.

What the coroner should investigate is why former chief minister Michael Gunner and police minister Nicole Manison, both former Labor staffers, flew into the emotionally charged community two days after Walker’s death and warned: “Consequences will flow.”

How incendiary.

As a former adviser to an experienced police minister myself, it is beyond belief they would inflame sensitivities during any ongoing investigation.

They weren’t there at the time and were either selective or ignorant of the facts. They only understood the politics they were playing — to frame it as a George Floyd incident.

Instead of a full investigation, the political Zeitgeist of urban Australia demanded pillorying Rolfe, resulting in buried evidence, manipulated facts and leaking his name to the public while he remained stabbed and shocked.

Not 72 hours earlier, Walker had charged at officers with an axe.

Instead, what you will hear is selected text messages from a compendium of more than 5000, seized and extracted without a warrant.

People in the trenches, under fire, talk in brutal ways. It is a means of steeling themselves through circumstances most of us cannot handle.

When someone has to remove a molested child from their family, their language becomes battle-scarred. It doesn’t mean they are criminals.

Rolfe knows it is wrong and has apologised for it.

Over the past few weeks, evidence given to the federal Joint Standing Committee on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs has told the same story, from remote community to remote community: We call the police, but they don’t come.

Can you blame them? To save this person, I might be the one who gets a life sentence. Is it worth it?

Consider the attrition rate of the Northern Territory Police since Commissioner Jamie Chalker came to power, whose lack of procedural fairness and justice for Rolfe has led to a mass exodus.

When the Rolfe family has been subject to death threats, ask yourself, would you send your son or daughter to Yuendumu to be a police officer or a nurse, where health workers now live under 24/7 security?

You have seconds to choose if you live or die as a police officer — not enough time to consider an offender’s race, background or culture.

Rolfe finally spoke out this week, knowing doing so could lead to prison time and another disciplinary notice — and only because Commissioner Chalker sacked a senior officer who defended him.

He is screaming for a reality check on our Hollywood appraisal of a situation we would not be able to live in, let alone manage.

What was his alternative? To let chaos reign supreme or let him and his partner be killed?

In his own words: “You don’t see me on duty finding children at 3am, in breach of their bail in the city; you don’t see me talking to them and asking why they’re there only to find out they haven’t had a proper meal in days. You don’t see me instead of arresting them, taking them home past a 24-hour service station and buying them a meal, letting them choose some lollies as long as they choose something healthy.

“You don’t see me take that kid to a home full of drunks, find one sober grandma in a back room to leave the child with and watch as the first thing that child does is offer to share her food with her grandma after being hungry for days, you don’t see how that breaks my heart, good kids being failed by their families.

“You don’t see me hug the suicidal 12-year-old boy for an hour in the hospital to restrain him as he tries to harm himself; once he finally falls asleep, you don’t see me go into the town camps by myself in the middle of the night looking for a sober family member, only to find his parents drunk and refusing to assist their son, you don’t see me going door to door until I finally find a grandma who’s sober enough to come to the hospital, you don’t see the tears in the boy’s eyes as he sees a family member who actually cares enough to come.”

Rolfe’s letter is to us.

It could have been written by so many other frontline workers in remote communities and poses a fundamental question, are you going to back them in, or do the job yourself?

The singer-songwriter and activist Billy Bragg also weighed in on the discussion on Twitter, expressing his support for the changes made to the 2022 editions. “Suppose your mum wears a hairpiece due to chemotherapy and kids in your class call her a witch because they read in Dahl’s book that witches all wear wigs” he tweeted in response

This is the dumbthink I’m sick of.
Dahl wasn’t implying that only witches wore wigs and there was a combination of characteristics Grandmamma said to look out for, my children were always on the look out for those with no toes.

We also shouldn’t discount Youngkin from Virginia.

Good point JC.
After he won the election, Taibbi spent a month in Virginia & wrote a 4 part series on why.
Youngkin had people who voted Obama, Obama, Hillary, Biden vote for him.
This cohort flipped the state by voting for Youngkin.

It wasn’t due to energy prices (one school of thought at the time).
It wasn’t due to the trans kids, rapey kids.
It was because New Americans, primarily from SE Asia & sub-continentals were livid on how school administrations were screwing around with school districting & selective schools (one of the key reasons these double degree households with $200k incomes moved to the districts in the first place).
It flipped 20,000 votes where it was needed because how these communities mobilised on the issue.
If you subscribe to the Taibbi substack you can read all four (or listen to the audibles).

Poor Ramirez, he’s floated off into a fantasy land where all righties have to be beige and boring. I had to check MTG in the news to see what he has gotten his knickers in a twist over this time. Absolutely nothing: Ms Green’s latest proposals are quite fine. She made one typo in a tweet, proposed a national divorce (maybe she’s read Kurt Schlichter’s books) and suggested Dems moving to red states not be allowed to vote for 5 years. That’s a fun idea, and is great trolling.

No more withdrawals for life saving medical treatment
Super to be paid as an Annuity rather than a Lump Sum

It’s hard to be a planet-saving vegan when there’re no vegetables.

Vegetable shortages not unique to UK as EU supermarkets also plagued by limited stocks (24 Feb)

“Recent vegetable shortages – which have forced leading supermarkets to limit purchases – are not unique to the UK, European publications have found.

Cindy Van Rijswick, food and agriculture analyst at Rabobank, told the publication that supermarkets “across north-west Europe” are suffering from a “disrupted supply of fruit and vegetables”. She added: “Empty shelves like in the UK are not to be expected, but even here fruit and vegetables are more expensive.”

Wim van Geest said his family business depends on imports during the winter, with tomatoes coming from Spain, Portugal and Morocco. But cold weather has resulted in “much less supply”, pushing prices upwards.”

So global warming is causing fewer vegetables because of cold weather? That’s fun. Maybe they could build a few greenhouses. They work really well when heated with gas, lit with electric lights and boosted to triple the CO2 content of the atmosphere.

“Focus on the hypocrisy every single day.”

Yes, every single day. Labor and Sleazy have started this “class war”, and they should be made to eat their words and have their faces should rubbed in the shit. This is manna from heaven for the Liberals, depending on whether there’s a Liberal Party with any spine to pursue such tactics, but I doubt they’ve learnt anything.

Speaking of hypocrites, Andrew Charlton, the current member for Parramatta (a seat that any half decent Liberal party should be able to win), is he living in Parramatta or has he secretly tiptoed back to his multi-million dollar mansion in Bellevue Hill to sleep at night? I can guarantee you one thing, Mrs Charlton hasn’t moved from Bellevue Hill to Parramatta.

Further to the Liberal Party, there are many marginal seats that can be won by the Liberals, seats such as Parramatta, Bennelong, Corangamite, Macarthur, Boothby, Pearce, Swan, Tangney and others. If the Liberals got their act together, they’d have candidates out there at the beginning of next year. But I dream.

Biden team has ‘deeply rooted hatred for Russia’ – US congressman

Senior State Department officials Victoria Nuland and Antony Blinken are “dangerous fools,” Paul Gosar declared

Senior officials at the US State Department are attempting to get the country “involved in another world war” with Russia, Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar tweeted on Friday. Gosar, Twitter CEO Elon Musk, and former president Donald Trump, have all named Victoria Nuland as the most dangerous among this group in recent days.

Responding to an RT article on Musk accusing Nuland of “pushing this war” in Ukraine, Gosar declared that the billionaire “is correct.”

“Both Nuland and Blinken have a deeply rooted irrational hatred of Russia, and they seek to get the US involved in another world war,” he continued. “These are dangerous fools who can get us all killed.”

In a follow-up tweet, Gosar wrote that “as a non-soldier, Nuland is quite willing to endorse violence and war.” The Republican lawmaker then quoted the article, which stated that Nuland had “endorsed regime change in Russia, celebrated the US’ destruction of the Nord Stream pipelines, and called for the indefinite flow of arms into Ukraine.”

As assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs in 2014, Nuland helped to orchestrate the pro-Western coup that unseated democratically elected president Viktor Yanukovich. Nuland traveled to Kiev and promised military aid to the rioters, and was recorded plotting to install a successor to Yanukovich.

As Biden’s secretary of state, Blinken has promised to keep weapons flowing into Ukraine “for as long as it takes,” and advised Kiev in December not to seek the kind of negotiated settlement that would liken to a “phony peace.”

Gosar has been a persistent critic of the Biden administration’s Ukraine policy since Russia’s military operation began a year ago on Friday. However, although the Republican Party now controls the House of Representatives, there is little the Arizona congressman can do to change the administration’s course. A significant bipartisan majority supports continued military aid to Ukraine, with only 11 Republicans, Gosar included, sponsoring legislation that would cut funding for Kiev.

These Republicans are all allies of former president Donald Trump. In a campaign video released on Tuesday, Trump blamed the situation in Ukraine on Nuland and “others like her” in the Biden administration. Nuland, he said, was “obsessed with pushing Ukraine towards NATO,” adding that the conflict would have “never happened if I was your president.”

What’s being done to Rolfe was done to Cardinal Pell and is being done to Lehmann, in fact Lehmann’s nightmare is not over, probably not for a long time. According to the progressive left, these men are guilty, guilty, guilty, regardless of evidence, regardless of what the courts say, even regardless of what the HC says. Heck, progressive excrement will even turn up at your funeral to harass, scream and screech obscenities.

Which is why I’m glad Rolfe has left this shithole of a country. I hope he never returns. And shithole this country is. I’m sorry, but after standing outside St Mary’s Cathedral a few Thursdays ago, and seeing and hearing progressive scum protest a funeral, yes a funeral, and how they were given a green light by NSW Police who personally led them past the cathedral doors and where I and others were standing, all to intimidate worshippers and people like me to went to pay their last respects to a man who was gravely wronged, any faith I had in this country and any hope I once had for this country is gone, long gone.

It’s several paragraphs in but another thing that is akin to flogging a dead horse:

The funky timing of the Brisbane Olympics has given one of the most unconventional thinkers in world sport a left-field idea that could revolutionise the biggest events on the planet.

Scheduled to take place from July 23-August 8, 2032, lost in the fine print is the fact the Brisbane Olympics will be just the second Summer Games ever held in Winter.

Like the balmy 2016 host Rio de Janeiro, Queensland’s coldest season isn’t exactly woollen scarfs and beanies weather but it’s still a seismic shift from Olympic tradition that has given fresh legs to a radical proposal from World Athletics president Sebastian Coe.

As a former Conservative in the British parliament who has been bestowed the posh title of a Lord (what is it with the Left and titles?), Coe doesn’t fit the profile of an insurgent but in the slow-moving world of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he’s a rebel with a cause.

And one of the issues closest to his heart is climate change – and the impact it has on high-performance athletes.

Because the biggest athletics’ events are always held in Summer, the physical toll on competitors can be excruciating, particularly for endurance runners, and Coe wants to shake things up a bit.

“Climate change is here. Whatever the greenwashing conversations that take place at COP (Conference of the Parties), I‘m afraid we are not hitting any of these targets,” Coe told News Corp.

“From my humble position as a federation president, I‘m not a scientist or climatologist, but it’s pretty clear to me we’re not going to hit these targets, and we have to think quite hard about ’what is our response going to be to this?’ (grease my palms I believe he is saying)

“We‘ve got to be clear that athlete welfare is really important.

“Those of us that are really working quite hard in the field to make a difference, believe you can make a difference but at the moment, politicians are not quite caught up with where I think the public sentiment sits.” (get out beyond the inner city Sebastian.)

Other sports officials have finally started to take notice.

Both the men’s and women’s marathon at the rescheduled 2021 Tokyo Olympics were moved away from the scorching Japanese capital to Sapporo, the host city of the 1972 Winter Olympics and more climate-events are coming.

The athletics world championships have never been held in the southern hemisphere but with Brisbane locked in to host the Olympics and Paralympics, it seems only a matter of time before the sport’s showcase event is held in Australia – and when it does, you can bet it will be the first to take place in Winter.

“Clearly, a world championships at some stage in Australia would be fantastic. We want more events here,” Coe said.

“The athletics component of multi events, whether it‘s an Olympic Games back in Sydney or the two Commonwealth Games and a third quite soon I’ll have witnessed, tells me that you do deliver events very well.

“For a Brit to concede that is fulsome but you do, you‘re world class at this sort of stuff. There’s a pathway over the next decade for Australian sport.

“It‘s important that we give every opportunity for Australia to bid. If they bid, we take it very seriously. It’s inevitable.”

Athletics Australia (AA) has been holding ongoing talks with the sport’s global governing body about the possibility of hosting major championships in the lead-up to 2032.

The world cross-country championships took place in Bathurst last weekend but an AA spokesperson said nothing has been decided yet about a possible bid for the showcase track and field championships though there is still time if everyone gets on board.

“We don‘t want a world championships where you’ve only got a commercial interest driving it and you’ve got no support from your member federation,” Coe said. (whom are Athletics Australia funded by?)

“That just doesn‘t work. In fact, it’s dangerous to do it that way.”

If the world championships do take place in Australia in Winter, it could be a game changer for the Winter Olympics, which has struggled for suitable hosts, with Sochi (2014) and Beijing (2022) awarded hosting rights despite not having much natural snow.

There are more than a dozen year-round sports that are played indoors at the Summer Olympics – including basketball, boxing, weightlifting, gymnastics, fencing and table tennis – that could just as easily be played indoors at the Winter Olympics. (golf clap sir, really thought through that one)

Coe believes it’s time some sports made the switch to generate more interest in the Winter Olympics, including cross country athletics, which isn’t even on the Summer program at present.

“I have an ambition to get cross country into the Olympic Games and a Winter Olympic Games. I‘m told by the IOC, you can’t put it into the Winter Games because it can only be an event that takes place on snow and ice. (Hang on, isn’t the world melting, so having cross country at the Winter Olympics, or having the Winter Olympics at all are in danger?)

“I haven‘t witnessed a great day of snow and ice evident in recent Winter Olympic Games and in fact I see most of it being shovelled in or being created synthetically.

“But I like the idea of cross-country going into a Winter Games because I think it actually genuinely gives Africa more of an interest in a Winter Games than they currently have for all sorts of historic and resource implications.”

This is why I think that half of the electorates will be returned to the Liberals at the next election…

Teal voters to be hardest hit by Labor’s raid on super, but MPs split on plan

Voters in federal Teal seats will be among the hardest hit by Labor’s plans to raid the super funds of rich retirees, but only one Teal MP has outright rejected the proposal.

Voters in federal Teal seats , who were critical in handing victory to the Albanese government, will be among the hardest hit by Labor’s plans to raid the super funds of rich retirees.

The government’s May budget is increasingly likely to include a tax on the income from super accounts worth $3 million or more. Almost all of the seats with the most voters likely to lose from that are held by so-called Teal MPs.

But only one of them — Warringah’s Zali Steggall — outright rejected the plan.

According to data from the 2016 census, the Teals hold six of the eight electorates with the highest number of self-funded retirees, who are the most likely to be affected by any tax changes.

Bradfield on Sydney’s upper north shore, held by Liberal Paul Fletcher, was the seat with the highest number of self-funded retirees, followed by Victoria’s Kooyong (Monique Ryan) and Goldstein (Zoe Daniel).

Four of the next five MPs with the most self-funded retirees are Teals: Sophie Scamps in Mackellar, Kylea Tinks in North Sydney, Zali Steggall in Warringah and Kate Chaney from Curtin, WA.

Sydney seat Wentworth, held by Teal Allegra Spender had the 15th highest number of self-funded retirees.

The proposed changes have been met with different responses from the MPs, with Ms Steggall the only one to reject them outright.

“It is very important that people can trust the rules around investing in their future through superannuation, and it is damaging to investor confidence for the government to want to suddenly change the rules, especially without mandate,” she said.

“I would like to see a generational audit of our whole taxation system before just attacking one small segment.”

On the other hand, Ms Daniel, while branding the discussion “a kite-flying exercise” that “does look like a bit of a class war tactic”, left the door open to supporting changes if they were “considered in the context of broader tax reform”.

“If there is a substantive and genuine debate to be had about the super system, let’s have it, but this feels a bit like Labor is speaking to voters from a partisan political perspective, talking to a particular base, rather than considering the fact that many people have invested in good faith in their superannuation,” she said.

Ms Spender refused to be drawn on the proposal, saying she “will consider any concrete proposal on its merits”.

Curtin’s Kate Chaney appears supportive, saying super was “meant to be for retirement”, but “some people with massive balances are using it for tax avoidance”.

Ms Tink said she and her electorate were “open to a conversation around superannuation, but anything discussed needs to be done with a transition timeline in place” of around 10 years.

Dr Scamps said super was an important pillar, however “we do need to acknowledge we’re in a debt crisis, so sensible measures to repair Australia’s debt should be considered”.

Dr Ryan did not respond to our questions.”

Oh and further to Ms Daniel and Ms Spender, both their electorates have high Jewish populations. I’m curious as to their silence over the Adelaide Writers’ Festival of Jew hatred, neither have said a word of condemnation. Spender’s silence is very curious, I’ll ring her office on Monday to ask why she hasn’t spoken up about it. Daniel’s silence is not so curious, she probably wishes she’d been invited to the Festival of Jew Hatred, she’d be in familiar company.

China meets American hegemony head-on

In a rare scathing essay, Beijing’s foreign ministry has blasted Washington’s continued attempts at world domination

The Chinese foreign ministry has published an essay titled ‘US Hegemony and Its Perils’, a scathing attack on the United States and its desire to effectively rule the world.

The essay was widely shared throughout Chinese state media outlets and was probably the harshest thing they’ve ever published at least as far as Washington is concerned.

It coincides with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent address and attacks the US across a broad spectrum of topics, outlining Washington’s multi-pronged efforts to achieve and maintain exclusive dominance over the entire planet. This includes military action, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as interference in internal political affairs of countries in the form of coups and revolutions.

The essay discussed the Arab Spring, US interference in Latin America including the CIA coup in Chile and attempts to undermine the government of Cuba and Venezuela, and the number of “color revolutions” in former Soviet states such as Ukraine, Georgia, and Kyrgyzstan.

It went on to condemn how Washington weaponizes the subject of democracy and forces countries to take sides, branded the US a country “characterized by violence and expansion” that crushes its opponents with sanctions and “economic coercion” and claimed the (US) dollar of being “the main source of instability and uncertainty in the world economy.”

Never has China’s foreign ministry launched such a blistering attack on the US.

For many years, despite Washington’s turn to hostility towards Beijing, China has been overwhelmingly restrained when it comes to the US. For a long time, it held to the belief that America can be engaged with, that somehow the country can be brought to reason, and that the US-China bilateral relationship can be improved and stabilized. It once held the belief that after the departure of the Donald Trump administration, things could be returned to “normal” under Joe Biden.

That belief could not have been more wrong. After two years in office, the Biden administration has shown itself to be more belligerent and hawkish on China than Trump and his colleagues had ever been, and ties have gone from one new low to another, with the Biden presidency having transformed US policy from a series of “America First” Trumpian grievances over trade, to an all-encompassing campaign of military and strategic containment which has dramatically escalated tensions.

Trump was a negotiator, who wanted to make trade deals with China to suit American interests using tariffs as leverage, whereas the word “compromise” does not exist in Biden’s vocabulary.

The Biden administration has repeatedly claimed it wants “guardrails” and “lines of communication” with Beijing, but its actions have shown its real intentions, from allowing Nancy Pelosi’s highly provocative visit to Taiwan, to stoking paranoia over a balloon, to forcing countries to cut off supplies to China’s entire semiconductor industry.

The conclusion that Beijing has finally arrived at is that when it comes to the United States, there is no serious dialogue to be had.

It is a waste of time.

China faces a belligerent, hegemonic and bad-faith actor who seeks to contain it and strategically crush it at all costs.

The US is forcing a change in China’s foreign policy. For many decades, China’s philosophy was to avoid confrontation with Washington and seek cooperation, to prevent the Americans from moving towards policies of Cold War containment and blocking its economic development, which is the Communist Party’s overarching domestic priority.

This is why even when the US was turning hostile, China remained ambivalent and restrained for a long time. It wanted to believe the relationship with America could be rescued, and these policies could be offset.

China now recognizes that its best bet is not appeasing Washington, but that its continued development and prosperity depends on sustaining a multipolar world where American power is diluted.

China has formally identified American hegemony as the biggest source of instability, chaos, inequality and conflict in the world, mirroring comments made by Vladimir Putin.

As such, the US has no interest in accepting or coming to terms with the rise of any other country which challenges its monopoly on global power, believing its hegemony to be some sort of divine right, and leaving little hope for “stability”.

It will do everything it can to try and contain China and break up its integration with the global economy. While this does not mean Beijing will do something reckless or risk-prone, it does mean it has finally woken up to the challenge it faces and is no longer, after decades of cordial ties, starry-eyed or deluded about the true nature of the American regime.

About time such true words are uttered about the Evil of America – PantsSuit Hilliary & Libya spring to mind as well

Quite so, Black Ball.

Climate “change”, the greatest scientific fraud in human history, has turned nominally intelligent people, like Sebastian Coe, into jibbering idiots.

The willing mischaracterisation of climate variability as climate armageddon taps in to a deep well of self-hatred and cultural shame — effectively, a religion for athiests — among the large parasitic minority who have done nothing but complain about the wealth they have been dynamically gifted by the greatest civilisation in the history of the world.

PS: when I was born, millions of people in the Third World died each year from starvation, virtually eliminated in the past half-century by free market capitalism, which the climate armageddon zealots are trying to replace with socialist poverty for all.

From the last thread and proving once again that folks here and head prefect in particular have no taste in women, in this case Alexandria from 1923:

Are you kidding, The girl is a complete head case. She is about to get married and jilts her future husband just before the wedding.

Are you kidding, her fiancée looks like John Cleese on stilts. Her going with the big yank is the war of independence all over again. And to prove she’s got her head screwed on the right way, all she can talk about is having kids. She’s also very romantic unlike you with your dry rot in your heart.

She gets rooted all over Africa, has to jump into a tree to avoid being meat for lions, and then survives an accident at sea.

She gets rooted by the big yank. And this is not rooting, it’s the type of lovemaking I’m sure our Jane would have approve of. You’re such an emotional thug head prefect.

She’s also annoying as hell in that ditzy way she acts. No thanks, she’s all yours, Cronkite. Right stuff alright! Wake up.

I’ll take her! The only thing I would be worried about is that she may want to maintain her dowry box instead of being prepared to sell some of the nicknacks for building fences and buying saddles around the ranch.

It doesn’t matter though because I’m sure the bastard writer is going to bump her off. He’ll probably have one of those fu.king rattlesnakes bite her on her child-bearing arse.

The Liberal candidate for the Aston by election, Tudgers electorate, is a Woman of colour. Who would have guessed? Her intro letter below.

<blockquoteDear James,

I am writing to introduce myself as the Liberal candidate for the Aston by-election, which will be held on 1 April.

I offer a fresh voice, experience delivering for communities and will always listen to you.

My parents came to Australia in the 1970s. They worked hard to build a small business, raise a family and contribute to their community.

Their support and work ethic helped me become a barrister. I have worked on complex cases for large companies but some of the most important work I have done is representing local small businesses, as well as individuals and community organisations on a pro-bono basis.

As a Melbourne City Councillor, I have supported small businesses and community groups, delivered infrastructure, and attracted investment to strengthen our economy.

As a mother of three young children, I know all our grocery and energy bills are going up every day.

This by-election also provides an opportunity to send this Labor Government a message.

They need a plan to get on top of the highest inflation in over thirty years and the highest interest rates in a decade.

And they should not be able to take the Outer East for granted.

While congestion is a big problem, Labor’s first budget cut funding for vital infrastructure like the Wellington and Napoleon Road Duplications, Dorset Road Extension and Rowville Rail.

I know how to take a stand. I will always listen and fight for you.

Regards,

She’s following the formula. However I’ve always liked Roshena Campbell and one thing is for sure, she’s always been a Liberal, unlike the fraud the NSW Liberals have vomited up for the NSW Upper HOuse, a candidate named Jacqui Munro, who once praised Gillard, Windsor, Oakeshott and others….from The Oz..

In one 2016 Facebook post, Ms Munro seems to endorse Christopher Hitchens characterisation of Mother Teresa as a “fraud” and a “fanatic”, sharing a link to the director’s investigation “Mother Teresa: Hell’s Angel” with the caption “Hitch-slapped”.

In another, she seems to praise Satan, saying: “You know what I love? I love accountability. I love the devil. I love discussion. rational thought and intelligence binds us. #pride”

Ms Munro also appears to have celebrated Ms Gillard’s victory over Mr Abbott during the 2010 federal election.

Anyway, I’ll be voting One Nation in the NSW Upper House at the end of March.

<strong>JEROME CORSI: Obama Went After General Flynn Because He Was a Risk of Indicting Him and Hillary for High Crimes and Misdemeanors (PART 2)

Lopez claimed that in 2011, Hillary Clinton’s State Department was orchestrating its own gun-running operation to supply the Libyan rebels. She also claimed that arms dealer Marc Turi was set up to take the fall for these illicit arms deals. “We have ample evidence the Libyan gun-running operation was a White House operation and that the State Department under Hillary Clinton ran the show,” Lopez told WND.

Returning to the central theme, Obama and his coup d’état co-conspirators could not afford to risk allowing Lieutenant General Flynn to serve as President Trump’s national security advisor in the White House. As a former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency in the Obama administration, Flynn would have been able to gather the internal classified documents that could prove to the American people the Obama administration’s treasonous gun-running operations in Libya and Syria.

He can start with his media department. Hun:

Public servants are bracing themselves for big job cuts across departments as the state government scrambles to find money for hospitals and its Big Build infrastructure program.

Staff at the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, which until last year’s state election was known as Jobs, Precincts and Regions, are expected to bear the brunt of the cuts which could see up to 300 jobs disappear within months.

The bureaucrats working in areas of the department dealing with trade and investment, small business and sports and recreation are being targeted, a government insider told the Herald Sun.

The source said the government was desperate to find money to fix the health crisis and to deal with the blowouts in costs on major projects.

In December Simon Phemister, who as secretary of the then DJPR, had presided over a big increase in the number of senior executives left the department.

His successor is expected to be given the task of pruning that number.

The imminent job cuts which are expected to be followed by larger cuts following May’s budget.

It is understood that efficiency dividends forecast in previous budgets which have already been “banked” by the Department of Treasury can only be met through large scale job cuts.

“The cuts will be deep and long,” a source said.

Another source said staff across government were growing increasingly gloomy their programs would not be renewed, meaning they could be out of a job.

High level meetings are understood to have been held to address potential “shortfalls and disasters”.

The government’s employee expenses remain the state’s largest expense.

The state’s wages bill has almost doubled from $18bn in 2014 to $33bn, representing a one per cent increase as a proportion of GSP.

Last year’s budget forecast the state’s wages bill to grow to $35.3bn by 2025-26.

Victoria’s public sector, as a proportion of the total employed population, is the largest in the country.

A Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions agreed staff were being moved out of the department but denied these were cuts.

“Due to ministerial portfolios moving from the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, staff are moving to other departments,” she said.

“There are no job losses as a result of these changes.”

Shadow Treasurer Brad Rowswell called for a guarantee Victoria’s service delivery would not be affected. (Er, we are fairly much at the bottom of the pile sir.)

“With Victoria’s debt set to exceed that of New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania combined, Labor has created a massive debt problem. Victorian jobs are being cut because Daniel Andrews has run the state’s bank accounts dry,” he said. (chortle. If they are public servants who are surplus to requirements, piss them off)

“Every job lost is a wage that could support a family to make ends meet in these tough times, to help pay the mortgage, school fees and rising energy bills. (nope, learn to code)

“The Victorian people deserve an immediate and unqualified assurance that state service delivery will not be affected as a result of Labor’s mismanagement.”

Almost as if the Liberal bloke doesn’t want these useless parasites to be given the lemon and sars. Uniparty indeed

Is Joe Biden Getting Us Into a Nuclear World War III?

Matt Margolis

On March 11, 2022, Joe Biden said that sending tanks to Ukraine would start World War III.

“The idea that we’re going to send in offensive equipment and have planes and tanks and trains going in with American pilots and American crews — just understand, don’t kid yourself, no matter what y’all say, that’s called World War III.”

Curiously, at the end of January, in the midst of the classified documents scandal, Joe Biden flip-flopped and decided to send 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks, eight M88 recovery vehicles, and more than 500 armored vehicles to Ukraine.

So, World War III it is, I guess. Thanks, Joe.

At the time of the announcement, Biden claimed that it was Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin who recommended the move.

However, just a week prior, both Austin and Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley expressed opposition to sending tanks to Ukraine because it would take too long to train the Ukraine military how to use them, and they had plenty of tanks already at their disposal, including captured Russian tanks. So, naturally, I have my doubts. (RELATED: It Looks Like Biden Is ‘Wagging the Dog’ With Ukraine to Distract From Garage-gate)

Since the announcement, there has been a disturbing development that could prove that Biden’s original assessment that providing tanks to Ukraine would start World War III was actually the best-case scenario.

This week, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Russia will pull back from the New START nuclear arms treaty and begin building up Russia’s nuclear arsenal. According to a report from Fox News, “[Putin] also threatened to resume testing nuclear weapons if Western nations do not cease their aid to Ukraine, which is suffering under a brutal Russian invasion. Putin has characterized the conflict as an attempt by Russia to defend itself from encroaching Western powers and asserted that neo-Nazi forces have ‘taken root in Ukraine.’”

One weapon ready for combat is the RS-28 Sarmat liquid-fueled missile, also known as the “Satan 2,” which is 115 feet long, has a range of 11,000 miles, and, according to Reuters, can carry at least ten independently targetable reentry vehicles, each armed with a nuclear warhead that can be aimed at different targets.

It certainly looks as though Joe Biden escalated the war in Ukraine by providing tanks, and that Putin has further escalated the war by getting out a nuclear arms treaty, and building up his nuclear arsenal.

And it may have all been because Biden was trying to distract from his classified documents scandal.

In fine mercantile style, the CCP has gathered up the major third party benefits from the Ukraine:

• Russia captured by China as a tied market – consumer goods in, resources out;
• Disarray and blunder front and centre in the US;
• US hegemony laid out on display to the world, reflecting the CCP narrative;
• A major hole blown in the competing sectors of the EU productive economy.

STILL MORE OF A PEACE EFFORT THAN BIDEN HAS MADE:

China’s Plan To End Ukraine-Russia War Met With Skepticism In West. “Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the West believes China is poised to begin supplying arms to Russia. Given that the West, led by the U.S., is sending lethal aid to Ukraine, that would raise the specter of a proxy war between the world’s most powerful nations and stoke fears the U.S., Europe, and China could all be further drawn in.”

A look at China’s 12 points reveals a wishlist of feel-good measures “abandoning the Cold War mentality” and little of substance. So if I had to guess, Beijing is putting this out there for Ukraine and the West to reject in order to justify sending arms to Russia.

But that’s just a guess. We’ll see.

Here are the dozen points in China’s proposal:

. Respecting the sovereignty of all countries
. Abandoning the Cold War mentality
. Ceasing hostilities
. Resuming peace talks
. Resolving the humanitarian crisis
. Protecting civilians and prisoners of war
. Keeping nuclear power plants safe
. Reducing strategic risks
. Facilitating grain exports
. Stopping unilateral sanctions
. Keeping industrial and supply chains stable
. Promoting post-conflict reconstruction

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg (Norweigen “let’s take out Nordstream 2”) said Beijing is not a neutral party in the conflict and seemed skeptical of its role as a peacemaker.

“China doesn’t have much credibility because they have not been able to condemn the illegal invasion of Ukraine,” he told reporters in Tallinn.

Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the West believes China is poised to begin supplying arms to Russia. Given that the West, led by the U.S., is sending lethal aid to Ukraine, that would raise the specter of a proxy war between the world’s most powerful nations and stoke fears the U.S., Europe, and China could all be further drawn in.

When you are really old (or disabled) your world is necessarily small. When Boomers can no longer get travel insurance, the Landcruiser and caravan are too big to manage what do you spend money on?

I’m just old (75) but no health problems, in fact I’m fitter now than i was at 30 (no more drinking/smoking) but yep my world has shrunk .. both my passport & re-entry visa (not an Oz citz) ran out last year so no intention of coughin’ up around $A1 000 on renewal .. finished with the little travelling I did, anyway .. plus don’t drive/own a car since Cancer , 10 years ago.
I not only get by on the OAP but several hundred dollars a fortnight never getz spent .. the hole in the back garden is getting bigger .. give the grandees some exercise one of these dayz ..!
I’m wealthier (dollar-wize) nowadayz than I’ve ever been in my life … LOL!
Once past 65 it ain’t money that matters as much as your health ..
being old, rich & sick ain’t as good as being old, poor and healthy .. take it from me, I’ve several very wealthy family members, a few years younger than me, who do nuttin’ but whinge cos they can’t get around as easily, anymore ..!
Me! .. I just go for another 1km swim or a 50/100kms bike ride for enjoyment .. LOL!

Nolte: Another Day, Another Electric Vehicle Battery Fire

Ford Motor has been forced to suspend production on its electric F-150 Lightning pickup due to a battery fire.

Apparently, the electric pickup was sitting in a holding lot being charged when *poof*.

Days after the fire, “Ford suspended production and issued a stop-shipment of the vehicles to dealers,” reports CNBC, adding, “Ford said it is not aware of any incidents of this issue in vehicles that have already been delivered to customers and dealers.”

Ford said Friday its battery supplier, SK, has started building battery cells again at a plant in Georgia but it will take time “to ensure they are back to building high-quality cells and to deliver them to the Lightning production line.”

“The teams worked quickly to identify the root cause of the issue,” Ford said in a statement Friday. “We agree with SK’s recommended changes in their equipment and processes for SK’s cell production lines.”

Back to building high-quality cells?

Back to?

When exactly did the lapse in building high-quality cells occur, and for how long did it last? How many truck batteries were produced during this lapse?

What about those pickups built during this lapse currently sitting in showrooms and garages?

To my broader point…

. We had a battery fire in January.
. We had an electric car battery fire in October.
. Battery fire in September.
. Battery fire in August that injured 38 when the apartment complex caught fire.
. We had an electric bus battery fire in July.
. Battery fire in June of 2022.
. Battery fire in August 2021.

Trust me, that list is far from exhaustive. Those are the results of a quick search, nothing more, and those results are enough to make the following point…

The battery in an electric car is where the energy is stored. Therefore, the battery is the equivalent of a normal car’s gas tank. So let me ask you this… What if this many gas tanks had exploded over the same time frame, the past 18 months or so? You think we might pause the whole idea of the internal combustion engine until this potentially disastrous problem is worked out?

For the record, this is the first time I’ve written anything about these battery fires. I’m no alarmist. I don’t want to make a mountain out of a molehill. But it was this news about the Ford pickup where I finally said enough.

There is simply no way I would ever buy an electric car. There are plenty of other reasons not to buy an electric car, but the idea of the battery going up in flames — which is happening way too often —is a total disqualifier. You see…

Like a lot of people, my garage is attached to my house. In fact, my garage is directly below my bedroom.

Think about this… For a hundred years, people have been driving around with a big gasoline tank and then parking it at home or work. When was the last time we heard about a car’s gas tank just going up in flames?

It doesn’t happen. I park that 25 gallons of gas under my bedroom every night and never give it a thought.

The anti-science zeal to push us to electric vehicles appears to be getting ahead of safety. Politics has priority over people.

If you don’t believe me, I ask you again to imagine the political and media fallout of the same number of gas tanks catching fire over the same amount of time.

Now this is quite a Stretch even for RINO Cocaine China Mitch McConnell – Note Anerican Politicians never seem to be in America!

Mitch McConnell Claims American Safety Dependent on Ukraine’s Border Security

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Friday claimed the security of the United States is dependent on Ukraine’s border security from Russian invasion.

Speaking in Finland upon ending his taxpayer funded European tour, McConnell alleged the strongest nation on earth, the United States, is dependent on Ukraine, a non-NATO nation, for its security.

“As my fellow leading Republicans and I have explained, it is not an act of charity for the United States and our NATO allies to help supply the Ukrainian people’s self-defense,” McConnell said. “It is a direct investment in our own core national interests. America is a world power with worldwide interests. Our security and prosperity are deeply intertwined with a secure and stable Europe.”

Establishment lawmakers have earmarked more than $110 billion in taxpayer dollars to defend Ukraine’s border, while the United States’ border patrol encountered about 2 million in illegal migrants invading the southern border in the fiscal year 2022.

But McConnell made no mention of the southern border invasion, instead, he proclaimed the money spent on Ukraine’s border miles away from the continental U.S. would “directly strengthen America’s own defense.”

“This means that a significant portion of the money Congress has appropriated is going directly to strengthen America’s own defense by replenishing our inventories with more modern versions of these older weapons we have transferred to Ukraine,” he claimed.

McConnell claimed funding Ukraine’s border from invasion was the right thing to do, noting peace the “road to peace lies in speedily surging Ukraine the tools they need to achieve victory as they define it”:

It is not enough to do the right things; we need to do the right things at the right speed. The Biden administration and our allies must act more decisively to ensure that both our collective assistance to Ukraine and the investments we each make in our own militaries take place at the speed of relevance.

McConnell’s comments come after the Biden administration has imposed approximately 1,500 new and 750 amended sanctions and export controls against Russia, the State Department estimates.

From the Comments

– Mitch McConnell is fine with corrupt Democrats and the Biden Crime Family.

It’s America First that he hates with a passion.

– McCONnell is so full of crap. Our safety is tied to our southern border which Mitch isn’t doing a damn thing to close. Ukraine is corrupt and many in our government have dirty hands. Turtle turd is either one of them or he is protecting his fellow swamp creatures

– McTurtle must be getting money from Ukraine as well as China. BTW: Silly me, I always foolishly thought taxpayers funded the government to defend America.

I suspect China would like to sell lots of ordnance to Russia, but hitherto for some reason or other hasn’t considered it politically wise or something. Today it’s reported Russia is trying to buy Chinese-built drones:

Desperate Putin turns to copycat Chinese drones as Russia runs low on Iranian supply (24 Feb)

Der Spiegel reported that Russia is in talks with a Chinese manufacturer about buying 100 ZT-180 drones, with a delivery date of April. The ZT-180 drones are thought to be ‘copycat’ versions of the Iranian drones, the Shahed 136.

Of course how much of such reports is true you can decide for yourself. But it fits with the visits to Moscow by Xi and his Veep, and a rejected peace plan provides good cover to support expanded arms sales.

A Sober View Of The Russo-Ukrainian War

By Earl J. Catagnus, Jr.

Here I sit, a middle-aged academic who lived and studies war, suffering daily from wounds received in a battle that has long since been forgotten, struggling to make sense of the West’s strategy in Ukraine. What are we doing? Are we waging a proxy war simply to bleed Russian military resources with the bodies of Ukrainian warriors? Do our leaders really have no understanding of the Ukrainian and Russian people and their long, distinguished history of strategic “stubbornness”?

What about the Russian Federation’s brutal effectiveness in Chechnya, Georgia, and Syria? Are our leaders, particularly our military commanders, lacking strategic empathy, the ability to disassociate from oneself and assume the “mind of the other”? The evidence suggests that they are.

Recently, Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley declared that Russia has “lost strategically, operationally, and tactically” in Ukraine. This, quite simply, is bombast, borderline propaganda, possibly even rising to the level of disinformation.

We are continually led to believe that it is only a matter of months until the whole Russian Army collapses. Almost a year ago, some of our political leaders, military strategists, and media pundits were wildly making claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reign would end due to his “special military operation.” There were even allusions that Putin was near death.

The West’s sanctions, we were told, would cripple the Russian economy, forcing Putin to his knees. The ruble would crash as it did when the Soviet Union disintegrated. The backbone of the Russian economy, its fossil fuel production, would be crushed under the weight of a united West. There was no way that Russia could sustain its invasion given that it was isolated from American and European industry and technology.

A year ago, it would have been absurd for someone to advance the idea that Iran, a terrorist regime under strict Western sanctions for almost 50 years, would provide Russia with military technology used to fight in Ukraine.

The American people have heard these fantastical declarations before. Just a few short years ago, American generals annually testified before Congress that it was only a matter of time before Iraq and Afghanistan would be “pacified,” the insurgencies defeated. One more surge, just a few more resources, only a couple more thousand troops, and then, yes, the entire insurgency would effectively cease to exist!

It is time to strip away the puffery from the generals and our so-called strategic “experts.” First, we must acknowledge that Russia will continue to wage this war for years. To the Russians, they have already been fighting for close to ten years, since 2014. The invasion last February was merely a new phase in an ongoing war.

Unlike the American military, Russian military doctrine and strategic thinking recognize, account for, and embrace the possibility of decades-long military engagements that transition between periods of high-intensity combat operations and low-intensity, population-centric police actions. Chechnya, South Ossetia, Transnistria, and Syria are all examples of such practices.

Second, Russia’s strategic objectives are fluid and will change according to the conditions on the ground. Western intelligence agencies are still trying to understand why Putin decided to move on Kyiv in 2022, especially because it appeared he was winning on all fronts beforehand. Whatever the reason, Putin’s generals were able to recognize their failed strategy, disengage tens of thousands of troops, and redeploy them to prosecute campaigns in the south and east.

Similarly, Ukraine’s eastern-marching offensive several months ago showed that Russian forces were willing to accept tactical and operational defeat to maintain a strategic foothold in Donetsk and Luhansk.

Unofficial reports on the ground indicate that Russian soldiers initially withdrew immediately, without much of a fight. This, however, changed when the Ukrainians ran into successive Russian defensive lines that were prepared well in advance.

Furthermore, the West is completely unsure as to what Putin’s grand vision is for Ukraine. Is the goal to take the entire country? Is it to consolidate the annexed territory in the east? Is it to crush Ukraine’s military capacity to render it harmless to Russian interests? Is it to depose the Zelensky government and install one friendly to Russia? Is it to keep NATO from accepting Ukraine as a treaty partner? Is it all of them? Is it a combination of them?

The West’s unwillingness to acknowledge these “Russian” realities will only lead to failures like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Here, once again, we are supporting a brave people, fighting for their homeland while lying to ourselves about the adversary. Real people—men, women, and children—are dying by the thousands. The Ukrainian fighting soldiers, those who are being maimed and killed, deserve an honest, clearheaded assessment of the situation.

It is, without a doubt, a moral imperative that we craft a coherent strategy focused on ending this war on terms that both sides can live with.

Unfortunately, as of this writing, our only strategy is to bleed the Russians through an unending blood sacrifice of Ukrainians.

If there’s ever increasing productivity etc. why can’t we run mild deflation and have, for example, your average working class person only needing to work 30 hrs a week to pay the bills and put something aside for retirement? Why exactly should there be constant inflation? Why argue it pressures people to spend, when that’s what most people do anyway? How many people actually put something aside?
Inflation, as far as I’ve read, seems to be one of those unquestioned assumptions about how an economy should be run. As a layman, I can see exactly why that leads people to socialist type policies, but I don’t really get the reasoning behind it being seen as a good thing overall.

Flaming holes.

E-bike batteries blamed for 22 NYC fires, 2 deaths this year (via Phys.org, 24 Fab)

Lithium ion batteries used to power electric bicycles and scooters have already sparked 22 fires that caused 36 injuries and two deaths in New York City this year, four times the number of fires linked to the batteries by this time last year, officials said Friday. … Three children and an adult were injured this month when a charging battery started a fire in their upper Manhattan apartment at 1:30 a.m., officials said.

Maybe it’s a good time to do a remake of the old disaster movie Towering Inferno.

I know a very senior Qld civil servant who had to implement the job cuts in his Department. He was due to attend a group dinner function with me and turned up very late. Had spent the whole day informing people they were to be made redundant.

He actually agreed with Newman plan but said the main problem was doing it all in one go. Said if did it by natural attrition over 3 years would not have been so controversial.

Know another who worked for Q Build who was actually happy to be made redundant as got a significant payout. He said the Department had a significant amount of rorting going on and everybody benefiting. Said if outside Government for his trade (air con) would have made $30,000 less. Quite a few of his mates who were made redundant were not too long after back working in Government.

I don’t understand this either. In general consumers should get more for their money over time as producers and manufacturers find more efficient means.

That is in fact true, the price of consumer goods have plummeted, not sure about the quality and durability but.
—————————

If you consider grain production for example, the farm on average probably produces 15% more tonnage than it did when I was a kid (better varieties, weed control, fertiliser, soil improvement etc.). But what has happened to the price of bread?

A lot has to do with cost of energy and labour as far as bread goes.
Not to mention council costs and charges, HS regulations, rental if you don’t own your premises, the list of increasing outgoings is endless.

Cost of raw materials have been nearly steady, comparatively speaking of course.

Interesting article in this week’s Spectator by Kerry Wakefield on the US media’s means of shutting out debate, covering the usual modes.
Of particular interest is one some have already guessed – the idea of ‘limited hangout’.

… which is not to do with social events, but refers to admitting lesser mistakes while keeping more damaging crimes buried. It’s a spy-world term for allowing some information to be released to extinguish a media clamour; for whatever reason, overuse perhaps, it’s now moving into public discourse. Letting Joe Biden’s classified documents be found in a garage, for example, may be a limited hangout compared with exposing his being on the take from China. When a Chinese spy balloon over the US could no longer be denied, we got a limited hangout on its route and other details, but no reveal on how and why it, and apparently others, had sailed merrily past the mighty US defense forces.

According to Judith Sloan in yesterdays paper, Super Balances over $3 million are “historical Artifacts” and the numbers are decreasing as the holders die off.
So, no, the Teals aren’t losing any sleep over it.

Last nite’s air frying attempt was a resounding success. So easy.
Two pieces of cross-sectional cut salmon did very nicely with 17 minutes in noisy hot air.
Brushed with olive oil, the flavour was still excellent, it was nicely soft and juicy, and you wipe and swill the plastic fryer clean with a little detergent. All good so far. Will try some steak tonite and report back.

I also know a fairly senior Qld public servant whose whole section was disposed of by Newman. The basis for my friend’s redundancy package was that the sacking of the entire staff was attended to by my friend first.
My friend’s redundancy package paid off the home mortgage, bought a new, larger ute, and a bit left over. Three months on, employed again by government, but it took a few years to get back to the previous level.
Effect of the section’s loss? Quite a hit to the management and delivery of service in the area in which it was involved. Newman probably cut a bit too deep.
However I still say a prayer for his continued health and prosperity every time I travel along Newman Rd (not named after him) over the railway overpass he put in, on budget and on time. It saves a lot of time.

Fer farc sake. The only thing going up in smoke is your money.
I attended one such ‘cultural burn’ to see what it was about. Middle of winter, old paddock where the idea was to burn off all the shit and plant some sort of native seed that is a supposed super food.
Didn’t last long as said burn, well, didn’t burn because of the damp grasses and whatever else.
But in attendance were the Aboriginal corporations from Bendigo, Swan Hill, Mildura, Echuca and I think Horsham for this demonstration. Who stayed 2 nights so you can get an idea of the money used for this.

He’s standing in the closet when he hears this small voice… “Gee, it’s dark in here”. He looks around trying to find out where it came from when he hears it again… “Gee, it’s dark in here…”

He quickly whispers “Shhhh, who are you?” The little voice says “That’s my mummy and daddy out there, gee, it’s dark in here, I’m scared, I’m gonna scream”. The man whispers back “No, PLEASE don’t scream. I’ll give you five dollars if you don’t scream”.

The little boy answers “Gee, it’s dark in here, I’m pretty scared, I’m gonna scream…” “I’ll give you ten dollars if you don’t scream”.

“Gee, it’s dark in here, I’m REALLY scared, I’m gonna scream…” The guy says “Look kid, here’s FIFTY dollars, it’s all I have, don’t scream”. “Okay” the kid whispers quietly.

So the guy waits in the closet till he hears the husband finish lunch and as soon as he hears the door close he runs out of the closet and jumps out the window and runs down the street.

Later that afternoon, the lady is out shopping with her son at the mall when he sees a bike in the toy store window and says to his mum “Gee, I’d REALLY like that bike”.

“Sorry, I can’t afford to buy you a bike”. The kid says “That’s okay, I can buy it myself, I have fifty dollars”.

She pulls him aside and asks him “WHERE did you get fifty dollars?” “I’ll never tell”.

“You BETTER tell me where you got that money”. “I’ll never tell”.

“You must have done something bad to get that money. I’m taking you to church and you can tell the priest how you got that money in confession”. So she does.

The little boy is in the confessional and the door closes and he says “Gee, it’s dark in here…” And the priest answers “Now let’s not start THAT shyte again…”

Mr Rotten – Ukraine has already lost the war, their remaining potential outcomes are a marginal loss or a decisive loss. The only thing yet unknown is whether Russia will also lose the war, or whether she can manage a Pyrrhic victory. It’s still possible Russia’s outcome will be a decisive defeat similar to 1905. In that one though Japan definitely won and Russia went very close to collapse.

On the other hand the polls such as they are still have big numbers for Putin.

Putin Popularity Remains High At Home (24 Feb)

The parallels between the Russo-Japanese War and the Z War are interesting. The former lasted 1½ years, the latter one year so far. In both what was supposed to be a short victorious war had turned out not to be that. I suppose the biggest difference is that Marxists were very active amongst the peasants in 1905 whereas the social system in Russia now is totally different. Although I couldn’t rule out bits of muzzo Russia getting stroppy and separatist if they think Moscow has become weak enough for them to get away with it.

I have called a halt to watching The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem after 10 episodes where the story has a natural break. We are going to treat the next 10 episodes of this series 1 as a separate series, as Hairy is getting weary of the constant narrative flashback technique, which I quite like.

I told him he probably wouldn’t enjoy Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize winning The Narrow Road to the Deep North, often cited as ‘a masterpiece’ and which I’ve just finished, because it uses the flashback technique a lot do. Done well, as it is here (and I think also in Beauty Queen) it can add further characterisation and motivation to something ahead in their lives that you’ve just seen. I’d recommend it as a memorial work on the horrors of the Burma Railway under Speedo, and as a sensitive look at Japanese Emperor Worship and Bushido warrior culture. I did find the main character rather too obsessed with his emotional sexual past and somewhat depressive about sex and love, even though he is presented as humane and moral in the shattering experiences of his war.

Great article by Vicki Champion and likewise the Rolfe letter.
Contrast with VIC POL where the officer who rugby tackled, from behind, guy to ground does not even gave trial.

That would be Acting Sergeant Beau Barrett.
The clip seen on social media was horrific.

The “case” was decided by a lone Magistrate. Rationale: (from The Age)

Magistrate Rob Stary discharged the case on Friday morning, finding a jury could not possibly conclude Barrett had criminal intent and acted unlawfully when he tackled Peterson-English on September 22, 2021

We’ve heard that name before: (from Five years ago, in “The Age“)

Labor MPs accused of rorting taxpayer funds in the “red shirts” affair have refused to be interviewed by fraud squad detectives.
Prominent lawyer Rob Stary, who is representing about 20 members of the Andrews government including six ministers, is understood to have informed police last week that his clients would not be attending formal interviews.

According to Judith Sloan in yesterdays paper, Super Balances over $3 million are “historical Artifacts” and the numbers are decreasing as the holders die off.

Care to calculate the “notional” super balance needed to fund the pensions of politicians, the judiciary, senior (and some not so senior) public servants? The numbers with over $3 million in their actual super funds might well be decreasing, the numbers with much higher “notional” sums required to fund their super might well be increasing.

And the politicians and public servants among them are the ones pushing to clamp down on the rest.
