I knew a personage in their fifties who was diagnosed with high blood pressure, I advised them to stop watching, reading and listening to the ALPBC and Fauxfacts – but did they take my advice?

No – and now they’re dead, dead, dead. Just like my ol’ man, hounded to an early grave at the tender age of 80 by his rapacious reading of and listening to the j’ism purveyed by Fauxfacts and the ALPBC.

The japs couldn’t get him, but the two monstrous entities mentioned above eventually did. 😕

I’m still surprised the rotten ABC would ever sack one of their own. I would have thought Prodyn was ‘protected class’. Like a canbra pube- unsackable.

too white, too male and probably too bright also compared to the average yartz grads now fully engaged in “reporting on climate change” at the ABC.

I might have cared at one point but the decline of TV and trad media is not the end of the world and someone, somewhere will figure out how to run a digital content provider over multi channels at a profit.

I knew a woman who was diagnosed with high blood pressure, she was in her early 50s at the time. Instead of taking medication to help the high blood pressure, she told various people, including myself, that raw garlic would cure her.

Allicin is the active ingredient in garlic.
It acts as a weak anticoagulant and can reduce sensitivity to thrombotic disease.
Untreated hypertension damages small-midsize arterioles and can cause microscopic centrencephalic vessel disease, usually vacuoles, leading to vascular dementia.
Hypertension is an asymptomatic disease, until it isn’t.

Whether ABCess fungus or politician, we can find satisfaction or even glee in the departure from public life of our self-designated alphas. This is understandable. What we seldom assess, however, is the damage they have left behind, which is often expensive to repair, or irreversible. The vandals move on, often to better paid positions, and we think we have won.

Winning cannot be achieved without effort. To win, one needs to compete. Winning by luck or happenstance is a blessing, but not an outcome we initiated.

We have deluded ourselves into thinking that one termite taking one bite of the structure before moving on, is nothing to be concerned about, because our field of vision is only one termite wide.

Thancho the term lightweight was in comparison to solid concrete. The panels were made with the reo having loops at the joins with another reo bar to lock the two together then grouted. The embedded thermal mass great for temperature control. His more common work he is ruthless with dimension control. He’ll only work with certain builders who share his visions.

The sweet and twenties have all gone home now. In terms of sugar content, the afternoon was a dismal failure. I did try to keep the cakes and sweeties down and provided a lot of fruit (blueberries, strawberries, cherries, grapes and raspberries) but the numerous little cakes and the big birthday one with ice cream as well as cream defeated my good intentions. Still, there’s nothing left now except a few forlorn crispy chips in a bowl. The big hit was platter of runny truffle double Bree, presented first with the various dips and bikkies and slices of Narn bread. My two older sons had earlier disappeared down the back garden with The Dog, a Staffy mix who bounded around everywhere over the rocks while they carried out a mind-altering shared smoking ceremony of their own. A rousing round of Happy Birthday hit the rafters as we lit up the cake and the birthday boy looked sheepishly happy. His father and uncle were taking pics, and the interlude in the garden with the dog had certainly put energy into their singing. We pretended not to notice.

Hint. Do no buy those numbers for the cake which are shaped as sparklers. They are a bugger to light, worse than mozzie coils, and for the second one you get sparkler sparks on your hands as you have to hold the match to the number for about 45 seconds before it ‘takes’. The first one which is necessarily close to make up the number is meanwhile merrily burning around and is nearly out. Only good for single digits, I concluded. The health freaks liked them though because no-one blew on the cake.

Hairy’s watching the cricket and all’s well with the world.

Around nine in ten Republicans believe there are only two genders (87% in 2021, 90% in 2023). Democrats, by contrast, are less likely to believe that there are only two genders (38% in 2021, 44% in 2023). Independents have become more likely in the past few years to say that there are only two genders (60% in 2021, 66% in 2023).

We’re just the filthy unwashed hurling abuse and various other material at them from the sidelines.

Very happy about my lot in life. I walked away (in reality, fled) from a potential place at the ruling caste’s trough in Scamberra (I’d been existing among them since January 2011) after making a (seemingly tough) decision to head back to Sydney in April 2017.

Soon convened the Sydney Cats, including Cass, Lizzie (and Mike), Tints*, jupes, Harlequin, Beery, Dragnet, Rafe, Mr Rusty, Col Bosi and possibly several others – who shall remain for now, unremembered.

Best decision I’ve made in a long, long time. We all at some point have to live with our decisions in life. Getting the hell out of Scamberra was a literal “no-brainer”.

Yes, the harvest date is important. Light will oxidize fats. Many foods oxidize, especially cooked foods. Fried foods are the worst for that. Don’t just take these statements in isolation, think about it, challenge the idea. How much oxidation and what is oxidized are the key questions. Did he provide values for those? If he didn’t disregard it because it is a scare tactic. A little oxidation probably induces hormesis. Oxidation gets a bad rap. How many know about the opposite risk of oxidation, reductive stress caused by too little oxidation?

I’m not far in and this is a load of garbage doc.

1. Seed oils are pro-inflammatory – really? Which ones? How refined? What fatty acids? What other trace compounds are pro-inflammatory?
2. Seed oils are pro-oxidative…err, how? Unprocessed olive oil will oxidise but highly processed canola or sunflower won’t without poor handling and impurities.
3. They’re literally poison, but coconut fat isn’t, flax seed oil isn’t, lamb fat isn’t…

A lot of the American criticism of these as a food product is based on very outdated knowledge.

(Not this guy, but…) Demanding saturated fats and omega 3, 6 and 9 acids…conjugated linolenic acid is one of the most heart-protective substances. All “omega” FAs have at least one double bond, that is they are at least monounsaturated.

Re the discussion on Hebel earlier today.

My house and every other house in the village is made from Hebel panels. Team of 4 can do a house in 2 days. Two fix the aluminium U sections to the frames, while another 2 start cutting the panels to size. When the u sections are on, two blokes position the panel, while the 3rd screws them into those U sections. The 4th bloke follows along with the grout.

A couple of days later the renderers come in and have everything looking schmick.

The insulation provided by the Hebel is incredible. This is the warmest (winter)and coolest (summer)house we have ever had.

Oxidation gets a bad rap.

And for very good reasons, it is the final pathway mechanism of DNA cross-linking, mutations and cancer.
It’s also involved in the actions of reactive radicals in vasculopathies and thrombosis.
Loss of control of oxidative processes eg. superoxide dismutase, occurs with age.
Oxygen is the reason we live and die.

This guy has really shot himself in the foot. Rolled milled wheat, partially hydrogenated fats, sugar and cottonseed oil were around for decades if not over a century in a widespread manner before we got a decline in metabolic health from the late 1950s up until and including the current day.

His prior graph showing the 250 cal a day increase in caloric load with a shift to carbs and less fat, protein and saturated fat was pretty good.

I don’t think that’s just by ATM only, where it might be understandable, but in general.

Washed down with a big shiraz.

Hope it works out better than you than it did for me!

So, I went to Dan Murphy’s because although their regular stuff is all pretty higgledy-piggledy with a a lot of garbage spread in, their French wines can be quite good.

So, wanting to branch out into Chenin Blanc as a variety I bought an Australian one last week, went for French this week to compare.

Bloke in Dan Murphy’s (there are usually have one or two people wandering about on weekends to give customers insights and suggestions) steered me toward two French Chenin, recommending one that was good and suggesting the other was good for its price.

Fast forward this evening, the wine chilled and the chicken in the oven.

I crack the wine for a taste and to let it open up for a bit. I note that the swirling indicates rather a viscous wine. I sniff and note intense fruit and honey. Slightly nervous I take a taste.

Botrytis.

It is a freaking dessert wine!

Out comes the generic Chardonnay into the freezer so I can have something.

But very non-plussed.

Now we are getting somewhere. Fat-soluble vitamins A, D and K in butter are far more nutritious than refined and bleached CSO. He should mention in weakly deodorised canola, there can be up to ~200 ppm of vitamin E/isomers. Normally or heavily deodorised canola is about 0 – 50 ppm of vitamin E/isomers.

This is an argument I totally agree with and because it is factual. Seed oils can be nutrient deficient. There could be a very good argument that encouraging low red meat consumption and highly refined seed oil lowers vitamin K consumption to the point where the hardening of the arteries cannot be mitigated at all.

I knew a woman who was diagnosed with high blood pressure, she was in her early 50s at the time. Instead of taking medication to help the high blood pressure, she told various people, including myself, that raw garlic would cure her. Of course the garlic didn’t work, and two years year later she was diagnosed with vascular dementia, her decline was shocking.

So much for raw garlic.

Sorry about your friend. A tragic outcome.

So many wonder health strategies. Garlic, ginkgo, ginseng, curcumin, berberine, AKG, NMN, spermadine, cannabinoids, rhodiola, fisetin, fasting, paleo, carnivore, vegan, quercetin, rapamycin, avocado, will allow us to live to well past 100. On the internet there is a cure for every disease. A tragic example is people resorting to natural strategies for cancer. For all that is claimed about health secrets stress management may turn out to be the great neglected causal factor contributing to the diseases of civilisation. The internet isn’t helping, if anything it raises stress levels.

The big change is the slow development of genetically tailored dietary management. Not ready yet but soon, hopefully less than a decade away. Then wait another 30 years for that technology to mature.

I have a lot of time for Batya, she’s smart and switched on and she looks beyond the normal confines of most journalists. Batya understands why ordinary Americans, that is working class and middle class Americans, remain avid Trump followers. Unlike many journalists and commentators, she understands the Trump phenomenon, and she understands why Trump still has such a huge following among the hollowed out communities, towns and cities that once comprised America’s industrial rust belt, how these people over the last two decades have been done over, sold out by globalism, free trade, corporatism, big pharma and so on. And last night, talking to Morrow, Batya said something interesting about DeSantis, that whilst he’s solid on confronting progressive woke and he’s got a good track record dealing with progressive woek, he hasn’t confronted the woke in his own party, the GOP establishment, which still supports free trade, which still supports globalism, which still supports corporatism, which still support unnecessary US military intervention, and all the other establishment shibboleths that have destroyed the West over the last two decades, and in the process, destroyed human lives.

Peta Credlin:

The sexual misbehaviour allegations against now-expelled Liberal senator David Van are totally different from the allegations concerning Labor minister Katy Gallagher and should not stop their pursuit.

Naturally, Labor will say there’s a “plague on all our houses” and call for a truce to end any public controversy that even remotely involves sexual misconduct.

Some foolish Liberal MPs are already falling for this trap. However, this would be a big mistake that would just let Labor off the hook for, first, a senior minister arguably misleading parliament and, second, to avoid further scrutiny of the government using taxpayer funds to settle a claim over sexual misconduct allegations that helped to bring down the Morrison government.

If the multiple allegations of sexual harassment are correct, what Van did was highly improper. If they are proven, the best way for him to atone would be to resign from parliament.

But the claims against Gallagher are not that she engaged in any sexual misconduct, it’s that she co-ordinated with Brittany Higgins’ partner, David Sharaz, to weaponise the Higgins’ “I was raped in the minister’s office” allegation in an attempt to bring down the Morrison government rather than to gain justice for a potential victim.

First, she knew about the rape allegations and seemingly never encouraged Higgins to go to the police rather than to the media; second, she misled parliament about what she knew; and third, she is part of a Labor government that breached standard procedure to give a taxpayer-funded payout to someone whose allegations the Labor Party used to damage its political opponents.

Unlike with Van, this is not about stock-standard disreputable human frailty, this is about serious misconduct that shouldn’t be obscured by Labor’s inevitable clever use of a spurious smokescreen.

Because the criminal proceedings collapsed and can never plausibly be recommenced, it will probably never be clear what really happened in the minister’s office on that fateful night in 2019.

But what is clear, though, based on the now-published text messages and Gallagher’s own comments, is that she knew about the Higgins’ claims before they were made public, and that these claims were then weaponised by Labor against the then-government via dozens of hostile questions and a barrage of media assaults.

The questions for Gallagher are precisely what she did with the information she had, and who she told, and how could she justify telling the Senate that she had no advance knowledge of the allegations when clearly she did.

The questions for the government are why it made a payout to Higgins based on a claim that she could never work again as a result of the mishandling of her complaints when she had worked again, and when the government not only never sought to verify the handling of the complaints but actively stopped them being investigated.

The biggest scandal here is that not only were the then-ministers, Linda Reynolds and Michaelia Cash, who had supposedly mishandled the Higgins complaints, not requested to give their side of the story to investigators, but at least one of them, Reynolds, was pressured out of giving the evidence she wanted to provide by a government threat to withdraw legal aid funding.

From my time in government, I know that payouts like this are never made quickly, they’re never made without at least some attempt to delve into all the alleged circumstances.

The government should not be allowed to succeed in its attempt to shame the Opposition out of further pursuit of this on the basis that any discussion of sexual assault is “triggering” for women or because Van’s alleged misbehaviour somehow gives it a leave pass for misbehaviour of a very different and much more governmentally serious kind.

The media shouldn’t fall for this obvious ploy, and the Opposition certainly shouldn’t be bluffed out of doing its job.

Walter Sofronoff KC, who’s already examining how the Higgins-Lehrmann prosecution was handled, would be doing a public service if he were to broaden his inquiry to include this payout.

Otherwise, it must go to the new Integrity Commission so that we can be sure that taxpayers haven’t been used by this government.

Peta Credlin II:

The single-chamber Queensland parliament has just passed a new law allowing people to change the sex on their birth certificate, without gender re-assignment surgery, and allowing children as young as 12 to change their sex, by court order, without the consent of their parents.

Unsurprisingly, for Labor governments that are fond of social engineering by stealth, it’s been rushed through the parliament without any serious public consultation and with strong criticism from medical experts.

And that’s the issue, isn’t it? We now have Labor states falling over themselves to accommodate trans activism by allowing people to change the nominated gender on their birth certificates – in Victoria’s case, every year – not just in defiance of biology, but without any serious public debate.

When have the voters ever been asked what they think about the gender fluidity that’s now officially taken for granted? When have the voters ever been asked whether it’s right to prescribe life-altering hormones and other drugs for minors, sometimes without parental permission? When have the voters ever been asked whether they think that biological males – who merely self-identify as women – should be able to use female facilities, or compete in female sports, just because they call themselves women?

Has any Labor leader ever been upfront with voters, before an election, about plans for laws allowing people to choose their gender, regardless of biology, or regardless of any carefully considered adult steps to undergo transition? Of course they haven’t.

With senior doctors now calling for a moratorium on the use of hormone blockers and gender treatments on children, it’s also time to call a halt to laws enabling people to change their gender on no more than their own say so, especially given that some are using this to gain an unfair advantage in sport or to take advantage of women in what should be women-only spaces.

Is it any wonder people think that government is out of control when life-altering laws like this are passed, almost by stealth.

Good point. There is the old joke that if rodents take over the world they will be forever grateful for us curing cancer in their species.

A very old study had a conclusion that left me perplexed. It found that old men with the highest D levels also had the highest levels of cerebral vascular calcification. K2! They didn’t test for that.

Never draw a conclusion from an animal study. The omega 6 as the cause of all our ills is simplistic. It makes for a compelling video and bad science. I’m still not convinced of that earlier video arguing no changes in inflammatory status from various oils. What was trial timeframe? Chronic conditions take decades to manifest symptoms. At the moment I’m reading Cyclone Coasts by H.H. Wilson (1980). It’s an account of her trip north along the west coast of Australia. Each settlement’s cyclonic history is detailed, as well as other interesting anecdotes.

One story worth quoting refers to the North West Cape (pp. 46-47):

The Americans had needed a base north of Fremantle from which their craft could operate north against the Japanese. The bulk of the equipment was landed from December 1942 to January 1943 from the S.S. Koolinda and the U.S.S. Gulf Star. Everything possible was done to make the operation a success, but here again, as in the past, the forces of nature were too powerful for man, despite his modern equipment and know-how. The Americans found the waters of the Gulf too rough to permit the submarines to lie along the tender to be refuelled: and they also discovered that fully-loaded aircraft could not take off in safety from the airstrip they had built at Learmonth. Moreover the site was deemed too vulnerable when, on 20 May 1943, two Japanese aircraft dropped nine bombs on the beach, fortunately doing no damage.

The base’s name, ‘Pot Shot’, was derived from an exploratory oil well sunk nearby, and efforts to change it by subsequent U.S. authorities failed. The main hotel in the township of Exmouth itself has been named after it. But there are more serious reasons to remember this particular base, and for these alone the name seems a little inappropriate. From here two commando expeditions set out to raid Japanese shipping in Singapore. The first operation, called Jaywick, resulted in the destruction of 50,000 tons of shipping when limpet mines were attached to their keels.

The fourteen commandos concerned in this attack sailed from Cairns round the top of Australia, no mean feat in itself, in a captured junk called Krait. After forty-eight days at sea they arrived at Exmouth Gulf on 19 October 1943, and the raid on Singapore was planned. This operation was so successful that another named Rimeau was planned, including six of the first crew. It also set sail from Exmouth, this time by submarine. But the second operation failed, and all the commandos were either killed, or captured and later executed. Of those executed the Japanese commander had this to say: ‘Ever member of the party went to his death calmly and composedly, and there was not a single person who was not inspired by their fine attitude.’

There’s a memorial there to both those attacks.

All oats are steel cut

Steel cut, as opposed to the more plebeian rolled oats.

Bob Carr had very strong feelings about them.

Love your work. Just finished watching Covenant. Different kind of Guy Ritchie movie. Enjoyed with a couple of beers, a wiskey and a cigar.
Liked the credits: After Bidens withdrawal 300 murdered, thousand in hiding. My wife follows a US group who sent a private airfleet in and extracted hundreds after Biden closed shop and put a lid on things. There really is an A Team out there sometimes when Government fails to back up their words.

Duck. – help me pleeeease
After dinner I get the wave in me to eat something sweet.
What do I do?
When I walk past a bakery my feet are rooted I stand in front of the widow staring at the chocolate donut which is saying eat me.
I wilt and demolish the donut only to want another one.
What do I need to do.

First, she knew about the rape allegations and seemingly never encouraged Higgins to go to the police rather than to the media

Credlin has got to the nub of the problem, not only did Gallagher, Wong, Albo, Plibbers not counsel Higgins to go to police, so did the Wilkinson media complex. All are guilty of participating in a vigilante action to get Lehrmann disconnected from our established legal system. That the media refuse to vilify them for this is a disgrace.

I said from the beginning that this was a hit job on the Morrison government and Labor, the Greens and their friends in the MSM didn’t give a toss they were trashing the presumption of innocence. But, as Paul Kelly writes today, they were also aided by a completely incompetent, spineless, supine and craven PM by the name of Scott Morrison and his idiotic government.

The whole thing has been and remains a disgrace, even yesterday, that utterly putrid bitch Gallagher said she believes Higgins was raped. And Higgins’ three million dollar bucks? Payment for services rendered.

Carr was awful but looking back was he any worse than Baird or Gladishocklian?

The steel cut iats was from his stint as Foreign Minister when he made it pretty clear he was in it for what he could get out of it. He didn’t give a rat’s about his portfolio, he just liked the jets and hotels and honour guards and doubtless stuff that a well balanced person does not need to prove to themselves.

As Premier the problem with Carr was that he had the Press completely in his thrall. Like Keating, he has them so that even when he abused them they would adore him all the more.

The press were unpleasant with Gladys, but never for valid reasons – it was always that she was not as left as they wanted – and she sucked up to the left plenty.

was he any worse than O’Barrell, Baird or Gladyschlocklian?

No, the ‘orrible weird grotesque deformed steel cut oats hoovering homosexual* was most certainly not.

He was also “tough on croime”, as various provincials that don’t exist in NSW are now discovering.

And “his woife” was of the Asian extraction.

*His treasurer, the four foot eight Michael Vegan, was also (entirely unsurprisingly) a homosexual.
