What is a “protected title”?

Surely you don’t have to call them that like some insist.

I don’t know about other PhD’s that lurk/post/contribute here but I very rarely use my Dr title these days, now that I have retired from academia, particularly when I’m in a medical environment. When meeting new people, it would feel, to me anyhow, somewhat ostentatious to use such a title and normally such info would have to be extracted from me during an extended conversation.

Why?

– Because The UN having seen how Fat/Corpulent are the IDF Captured Palestinian Gazan Hamas Barbarians, they realise the People of Gaza need to go on a Diet for their own good!

Further to Price, Ford, Thorpe, Tingle, and all the rest of the scrofulous females that make up the progressive skankerhood in this country, nobody should be surprised by their support for the genocidal Jew haters in Hamas and the rape and butchery of Jewish women and men that occurred on 7 October. Firstly, these skanks don’t give a rat’s arse about women, they only care about ideology. So, the women who blog here, conservative women, right of centre women, Christian women, Jewish women, female politicians such as Nicolle Flint etc….WE ARE ALL FAIR GAME, not just for ridicule, for smearing, for silencing, for cancelling, we’re fair game for stalking, assault, rape and worse.

You only have to see the rank, unadulterated bare-faced hypocrisy exhibited over the last few days from that ghoul Laura Tingle of their ABC, and the vile Lenore Taylor and Katherine Murphy from the Guardian over the Dreyfus bulling of Olivia Caisley the other day. Did these grotesque females defend Caisley? Nup, in fact they covered up and defended his behaviour.

In a decent society, these women would not be employed or platformed, but we don’t live in a decent society anymore.

Same here, checked my nearest AWS just now. Forecast 33, actual top 30.3 as of 3 pm.

Seems to be a regular occurrence of the forecast being 2-3 degrees higher than actual. They don’t seem to keep a dataset of the forecasts unfortunately, so I can’t do a statistical comparison. I suspect overegged models though.

An Arab peace group gets a rude awakening when showed a 47 minute video of 7 Oct atrocities committed by their fellow Muslims.

“I was shocked — I couldn’t breathe,” Fatema Al Harbi from Bahrain told The Daily Wire. “I cried most of it.”

“I thought the worst I’ve seen in my life is what ISIS has done in Iraq and Syria,” Rawan Osman who is Syrian and Lebanese said. “I have never imagined saying I’ve seen something worse.”

“They were so joyful and cheering over dead bodies and they were parading bodies without clothes,” Al Harbi, who is Muslim, said. “That’s not the Islam that I knew my whole life.”

“In Morocco, Palestine is considered a noble cause but they don’t know who they are championing, they don’t know s***,” he said.

And sadly:

Al Harbi said she doesn’t think the video would convince some people who hate Israel of the atrocities even if it were to be released publicly.

Heard an interesting podcast.

1. The IPCC uses 29 models to forecast gerbil warming.

2. The models can change from one climate haj to another.

3. There are approximately 54 variables in each model and we don’t know the innards of the models to ascertain if any are wrong inputs with regard to the inputs and if an error could change the entire direction.

4. The models forecast is an unweighted average of the 29.

5. We don’t know the criteria used to determine which models are going to be part of the 29.

Does anyone see any problems with this? It basically means that the whole thing with the models has absolutely no value.

Ditto. It was a long time ago. However, I still use in some circumstances eg when some supercilious clown needs a fact check, but mostly when more cred is needed. I don’t use it when signing letters to newspapers – indeed, SMH (years ago I wrote letters to their editor) had a policy of no titles.

Only used it once in letters to the Oz when I was commenting on a US study which showed that the non-vaxxers were in 2 major groups – those with PhDs & those with a very basic education. I commented that PhDs were compulsive researchers, and that those with a basic education generally had good bullshit detectors. I didn’t use the latter term – I think I said that they could “detect incongruities”!

I signed it with “Dr.” & it was published in that form.

Hamas broke temporary truce in Gaza minutes after it began, senior IDF officer says

Speaking to ToI from wrecked town outside Jabaliya in northern part of Strip, commander of reserve battalion says ‘there isn’t a single house here without weapons’

SALATIN, Gaza Strip — Two weeks have passed since a temporary truce between the Israel Defense Forces and Hamas in the Gaza Strip began, and exactly a week since it ended.

Shortly after the terror group made clear that it was not abiding by the ceasefire agreement on December 1, the military resumed fighting in the Palestinian enclave.

But a senior officer now reveals that Hamas broke the truce much earlier, in fact just 15 minutes after it began, on November 24.

“We were here, well prepared,” said Lt. Col. (res.) Yisrael — his last name was withheld by the IDF for security concerns — the commander of the 261st Brigade’s 8717th “Alon” Battalion, to The Times of Israel and other reporters in the Palestinian town of Salatin, on the outskirts of Jabaliya, in northern Gaza.

“At 7 a.m. the ceasefire started, and at 7:15 a.m., dozens of terrorists ran toward us, from every direction. Some of them were opening fire, and our forces killed them. Between 7:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. we killed 20 terrorists. And then they realized they shouldn’t mess with us, and we stopped their assault,” Yisrael said.

Noting one specific incident, he said that at around 7:15 a.m. on November 24, a Palestinian family had attempted to return to their home in the area. As the family approached their building, shots were fired at Israeli troops from an adjacent home, he said.

“The troops returned fire, I don’t know if we hit [the operative], he likely fled,” Yisrael said. “The next morning we arrived [at the building] and found his Kalashnikov [assault rifle], his uniform. It just shows their method of operating. The terrorist had arrived under the auspices of the family. They have no mercy for their own families, for their children,” he said.

Yisrael said the Hamas operatives are fighting like “Mulism Cowards.”

“They don’t really try to face us, but to sting here and there. Their method of operating is fleeing in civilian clothes, leaving behind their uniform, their guns, anti-tank missiles, explosives, and they just run.

After we leave the area, they return and attack the next forces,” he said.

Yisrael said the attacks on November 24 were a “cynical exploitation” of the ceasefire.

‘In every house, there are weapons, tunnels’

“We are working hard here, every day, clearing the area. Wherever there are terrorists, we kill [them]. Wherever there is infrastructure, we take it out. We are turning every stone, clearing every house,” Yisrael said.

“There isn’t a single house here without weapons, there isn’t a house without [tunnel] infrastructure. It’s unbelievable. In dozens of yards of homes we found dozens of rocket launchers,” he said. “We found Kalashnikovs under mattresses, inside clothes closets. It wasn’t thrown there suddenly, they were hidden in the homes.”

He said Hamas’s placement of weapons and infrastructure within civilian sites was an attempt to “take advantage of the sensitivity we once had.”

“Schools, a cemetery near us, in a clinic… these are the places where they concentrated most of their tunnel shafts. They thought we wouldn’t strike there, and that’s where we found the enemy’s significant infrastructure,” Yisrael said.

“The enemy has nothing to return to. It has no infrastructure here to return to, it has no weapons in the homes to return to and use against us,” he said.

And the world’s climate policies are based on this bullshit. Let’s say the models themselves weren’t finagled. They are but for the case of this argument assume they’re not. The selection process and the way they’re selected etc is massively unscientific.

Israeli activists try to storm al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem
Staff writers
Staff writers

Hundreds of far-right Israeli activists attempted to storm the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City Thursday night in a protest likely to inflame tensions across the Arab world.

The flag-waving demonstration called for the Jewish annexation of the Al-Aqsa mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, and was approved by Israeli police despite recent pleas from the United States and Britain to rein in settler violence.

The 200-strong protest coincided with the first night of Hanukkah, the Jewish festival commemorating the Maccabean reconquest of Jerusalem from the Seleucids in the 2nd century BC.

Extremists carried placards that said “There’s no such thing as coexistence with the enemy” and “A bullet to the head for every terrorist”.

Israeli police confiscated some signs that had incited violence as clashes broke out between security forces and the demonstrating settlers.

I understand the frustration of the Jews at the creepy Al Aqsa mosque parked on Mt Moriah. As well as that disgrace squatting on the site of the Holy of Holies. I’ve been there and experienced the mixed rage and sorrow.

However, the place belongs to God. He keeps it, He chose it right from the beginning when He drew Abraham up there with Isaac. He prompted David to buy it from its then owner hundreds of years and lifetimes of slavery later.

Allow Him to choose His time. It will come.

This is a rule to live by. Like not sticking a knife into a power socket.

And never let anyone get up and speak ex tempore at a funeral.

(This is usually discovered too late, about a third of the way through.)

Best practice is to save the obituary for the wake/cuppa afterwards.

This is not a criticism, calli, for I know there is now an expectation that it will be read during the service and if that is to be the case it is best to have the task of writing and reading it in capable hands such as yours.

As for me I’ll be having the Book of Common Prayer graveside service sans obituary.

If they want to read one…well, they’ll have to do it over my dead body.

Derek Chauvin, the convicted murderer of George Floyd who was recently stabbed 22 times by an FBI informant, is recovering, and has just been released from the hospital. He has, however, been sent back to the same Arizona prison unit where he was stabbed, with no additional protection.

His equally innocent 3 mates who also apprehended the floyd POS are also doing time, albeit lessor time. I don’t know what is going to change this shit; maybe when Trump goes to jail and gets hung the anger will erupt.

Yes areas like Rimal are very prosperous, that doesn’t mean there aren’t very poor people who have never had access to proper nutrition health care clean water etc.
There are parts of Gaza where people’s homes flood whenever it rains because of poor infrastructure but Hamas just says it’s Israel releasing dam water.
Even Elon pointed out that one element of the war forward is an opportunity for people to be prosperous.

Friday’s main points:

Detective Sarah Harman said barriers preventing her from accessing CCTV footage in Parliament House from the night Brittany Higgins was allegedly raped were ‘incredibly frustrating’
Ms Harman said Ms Higgins became ‘hysterical’ and ‘difficult to understand’ upon learning her alleged rape may be raised in Senate Estimates
Rape counsellor Catherine Cripps said Ms Higgins ‘flooded with tears’ upon learning of Bruce Lehrmann’s rights when reporting the alleged rape
Ms Cripps said Ms Higgins was hesitant to formally report the alleged assault because she feared losing her ‘dream job’
Ms Higgins was told by police not to delete photos she had with Mr Lehrmann from the night of the alleged rape
Lipreader Tim Reedy will be permitted to give evidence as to what Mr Lehrmann and Ms Higgins were saying to each other at The Dock hotel on the night of the alleged rape

From the Comments

– I see why there’s a shortage of food for the civilians.

– At least they all look like they have been well fed in Gaza. It will be interesting to hear how they intend to de-program them from the Islamist propaganda they’ve been fed since they were born.

Hamas has wasted vast sums of money given to them for the welfare of the Palestinian people.

If the Palestinians don’t extinguish this organization (and others like it) from their leadership, they are truly beyond hope.

– Much better treatment than Israelis got on October 7.

– Wow, a lot of them are fat! Kinda like the US military, which is more concerned with LGBT, black and female equity, diversity and inclusion than combat fitness.

The flip side of that obesity is these clowns are probably more likely to commit the horrendous rape and torture crimes like those of Oct 7.

No Knickers Higgins Strikes Again

Brittany Higgins, Bruce Lehrmann defamation trial LIVE: Higgins and Lehrmann’s secrets are sensationally exposed as security guard’s chilling diary entry about ‘naked’ woman is revealed

Security guard’s recollection of Higgins and her dress

Nikola Anderson, a security guard who was working in Parliament House, gave evidence – telling the court she found Brittany Higgins naked on Linda Reynolds’ couch after the alleged assault.

A photograph of her diary was released by the court on Friday afternoon. On March 22, 2019, was her handwritten note: ‘Incident happened. Naked in Reynolds’ office. Welfare check approx 04.20.’

Ms Higgins previously told the court she recalled her dress being bunched around her waist, but conceded Ms Anderson’s recollection was likely clearer.

Senior Constable Sarah Harman, who initially dealt with Ms Higgins’ rape allegation in 2019, told the court that she had asked the former staffer about the clothing she was wearing on the night of the alleged assault.

Ms Higgins told police the dress was in a bag under her bed, and it would stay there.

However, photos released by the court earlier this week showed she wore it to another event a few weeks later. She took selfies in the dress from a bathroom in Perth and sent them to her ex-boyfriend, Ben Dillaway.

‘F**k you look hot,’ he replied.

The hearing will resume at 10.15am on Monday.

Brittany admits compo payout value

Ms Higgins was forced to admit, under oath, the value of her compensation claim against the Commonwealth, which was settled by the Albanese government in December last year.

The claim was settled ten days after the former ACT Director of Public Prosecutions announced he would drop the sexual assault charge against Mr Lehrmann, and after just one day of mediation.

She told the Federal Court it was worth $2.3million, but that wasn’t accurate – it was actually $2.4million.

The partial approval is the latest in the spacecraft manufacturer’s goal of global connectivity. Chaos in the sense of modelling and chaos theory in particular.

Introduction

Chaos theory concerns deterministic systems whose behavior can, in principle, be predicted. Chaotic systems are predictable for a while and then ‘appear’ to become random.

There used to be about five things required for a chaotic system to meet the definition, deterministic and sensitive dependence upon initial conditions being two important ones. Close starting points not guaranteeing close ending points basically. But, essentially governed by rules that if you know enough about them would allow for predictions.

Chaos as the word exists in general usage means something different. Hence the apostrophe man reference.

Harvested our first garlic today. Lovely plump bulbs of big, purple stripe beauties. I know we have some allium authorities on The Cat – Dr F springs to mind – and so I humbly ask, a)can I leave the remainder of the crop in the ground until needed, or should they be harvested now and left to dry, and b) some of the bulbs came up separated and sans husky skins. Can I just finish tidying the cloves up and keep them in the fridge in a zip lock bag?

Thanks in anticipation for any replies.

Also, picked our first raspberries. Straight from the cane into the mouth. Oh, yum! Many more yet to come, enough, I hope to make a vinaigrette dressing similar to the bottle I bought 10 years ago from a Margeret River restaurant – can’t remember the name – but it had some cheeky, spitting alpacas in their garden. This is why downticking, and downtickers are funny.

The content of a post matters not, nor does its subject.

The downtickers downtick personalities, as they are insecure teary keyboard-mashers without the fortitude to engage in debate, nor the ability to construct any cogent response to any position put forward by others.

Consequently, they are both butthurt and completely aware of their own failings – hence the anonymous fury doled out from behind a curtain.

As will be the acquisition of DNA, given the nature of the crime committed on 7/10, and perhaps subsequent crimes committed against released hostages. This will form a database of perpetrators.

On a downer note. My better half went to our local dog park in SE Melbourne. There were numerous pro-palli signs up in the park. Being a good gal as she walked our dog, removed the signsone by one. She was then approached by several ladies, and was asked whose side she was on. Wife replied this has no place in Australia and certainly not in the dog park. Plus she could not condone the evil that was perpetrated on 7th October. They tried to argue back but she wasn’t having any of it.

On an up note.

SWMBO and I purchased a few Australia/Israel friendship lapel pins a couple of weeks ago. Then we purchased a few more. Now, I’ve purchased another dozen. We keep having to give them away. Which, we have discovered, was the point. Here we were thinking it was about “solidarity”. No, it’s about giving, which it turns out is more powerful.

Most recently, just an hour or two ago, I had a 30-ish lass come up to me and comment on the pin. I gave it to her. Tears and hugs. Father Jewish and her daughter had been abused earlier in the week.

Chaos in the sense of modelling and chaos theory in particular.

There are regular patterns and periods in nature: the seasons, PDO, night and day with attendant variables such as temp. However, what can’t be predicted with precision is what these variables will be in extent. The BOM now gives % ranges when their forecasts of temp and rainfall had a success rate of 20%. Recently they forecast an El-Nino and the SOI suggests that tendency but what has confounded that was a totally unpredictable submarine volcanic eruption in 2022: the Hunga Tonga–Hunga Ha?apai eruption which threw out so much evaporated sea water that instead of dry hot weather we are now getting hot, wet weather.

Cafe Bruce attracts interesting creatures. I went outside just now, two cockies and a female koel were hanging around. And across the street two interesting humans.

It’s that time of the year, when people put their junk out for council to collect. The humans, a guy and his lady, were scavenging the pile of junk my neighbour across the road had put out. I wander over thinking they might need help to load something heavy. G’day says I.

Their Falcon station wagon is full of bits of wood. The lady is trying to fit more bits of wood into the load, sort of like a Chinese puzzle. The whole back of the Ford was full of small planks and wood bits. He was dismantling old furniture from the pile.

I have no idea what it was about, except they seemed to want lots of random bits of wood, and had a car full of it. Go figure. Firewood? Dunno. We’re in the middle of summer so that doesn’t seem the reason.

I went in and gave the cockies some bread and fed the koel with some mince. Peace on earth here at the Cafe.

Cohenite.

Chaos is the model, the climate is the thing being modelled. The confusion usually arises because the people that write books about it are journalists, more interested in hooks and narrative arc. The BOM would give ranges because they have models with loads of variables left out. I don’t know if volcanic eruptions are random, you would imagine they are governed by some sort of process and if you knew it you would include it in the model. Or not.

Thing to remember is they usually take their clothes off voluntarily when they want to surrender otherwise the IDF are going to assume suicide bomber.
I read the account of a lady in one kibbutz who was taken by a terrorist who wanted to surrender, he took his clothes off so the IDF would know he was fair dinkum.

Jewish leaders warn Victorian authorities, as fears rise about protesters at Federation Sqaure’s Pillars of Light Hanukkah event

Jewish leaders have put authorities on notice, warning their failure to protect an upcoming Hanukkah event will project a worrying signal to the world Jews aren’t safe in Victoria.

And never let anyone get up and speak ex tempore at a funeral.

Some people have no idea.
Buck’s night speeches served up at the wedding.
Stuff which would be best kept for a select audience at the wake dropped during the funeral service.
I have seen eulogies delivered where the speaker has clearly confused the “celebration of life” brief with a Hollywood roast.

Are you saying that climate does not have a chaotic base?

It would be deterministic, as to initial conditions I don’t know. Some parts would be and others not. Don’t forget you can get locally chaotic parts in a stable system. If you get the flow right the rate at which water drips from a tap can look chaotic but the plumbing is pretty stable.

The point is the BOM could not predict a case of diarrhea at an enema convention. And the ‘predictions’ of the BOM to a large extent are the justification for the energy policy of Casanova Turtle and his fellow turds on legs.

Stochastic inputs can be part of a stable model e.g. Climate. The model states cycle but follow some kind of normal distribution and “chaos” is possible in parts of the whole. There is a bunch of published stuff and even python code on this topic.

On the positive side, I’m making a tiny quilt to go in his coffin (I’ve made them for premmies and stillborns so why not one for Dad). The mitres all went swimmingly, as if he was watching over my shoulder. He would approve of my non wastage of precious material. He hated waste.

My eldest sister does that stuff – she’s a quilter in the Brisbane area – they have a system where they get a call if there’s a stillborn/ delivery disaster and half a dozen women quilters drop everything and make a quilt for the dead/stillborn baby.
They go off for ‘stitch and bitch’ weekends.

I don’t trust anything anyone says on the future climate. It is also why I don’t understand why AGW critics make their own predictions.

Several years ago a study argued that even in highly complex systems there can exist variables which dictate the overall state of the system. Physiology is an example of that. I can explain down to the molecule and transcription events why steroids have so much clinical value. I can do the same for why a seizure can be crashed through a large magnesium infusion. Yet in both cases the complexity of the relevant processes is cognitively overwhelming.

Jasper is likely heading up the Cape and will intensify again when the vertical wind shear close to the coast drops which is forecast to happen. It will blow flat a heap of trees and maybe a few smaller settlements.

Every track run has it further and further north.

Calli, until we wake up to the fact the fight with Islam is for ALL the marbles, any reticence on our behalf is to their advantage and our disadvantage.
The Muslim is either at your feet, or at your throat.
What will it take to wake Christendom up?
