I hate what Sydney has become. And I blame the State Government, the City of Sydney council and the NSW police. They disgust me.

Our governments – at all levels – are Quislings.
It’s as simple as that, calli.
They have sold out to the WEF and the invading Muslims.
They are intellectual and moral cowards, scooping the rewards of office while watching over their shoulders at the coming storm.

I don’t like them much. 🙂

Courtesy of Ace of Spades:

A man was telling his buddy over coffee, “You won’t believe what happened last night. My daughter walked into the living room and said, “Dad, do not pay off my college tuition loan, cancel my allowance, throw away all my clothes and take my iPhone and laptop. In addition, please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army. Then, sell my car, take my front door key away from me and lock me out of your house. Then, disown me and never talk to me again. And don’t forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to anyone you choose.”

“Holy Smokes”, replied the friend, “She actually said that?”
The father replied, “Well, I’m paraphrasing a little.

“What she actually said was, Dad, meet my new boyfriend, Mohammed. We’re going to work together on Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign.”

Time to give a non-emotional answer.

What is in consideration is whether particular military objective is itself good (and not itself evil),

Is the military objective to retrieve the hostages (dead or alive)?
Is this evil or good?

whether all reasonable measures are taken to avoid incidental harm to civilian life,

Are leaflets, phone messages, warnings etc. not enough. Should the IDF shepherd civilians out of target areas in advance of their efforts to remove hostiles or their materiel?

and that any harm to civilian life not be excessive when compared to the military objective itself.

The objective, to retrieve hostages, is exacerbated by the enemy’s reluctance to either provide proof of life or the corpses of the kidnapped and murdered.

What is Israel to do? Abandon their people? They have already traded well in excess of the hostage numbers. Proportionality?

Melbourne is a shell. Disgusting place and soulless.

There were a couple of good rooftop bars when I was there. Leave ground level for the tourists. Riverland Bar next to Fed Sq was nice enough if not too crowded, although the Yarra R is no Sydney Harbour.

Fed Square is one of the great architectural abominations of our time.
Yes, the Yarra isn’t Sydney Harbour, but a park running down to the river with a few low rise restaurants and bars would have been infinitely better.
But it is a shit-hole now.

Reported in 2021:

Australia’s financial watchdog has drastically reduced the sum of money it says was sent from the Vatican to Australia, the Vatican says, after it earlier reported a huge figure that raised suspicions of money laundering.
The joint Vatican-Australian review showed only $9.5 million was transited between 2014 and 2020, a fraction of the $2.3 billion originally reported by the watchdog to widespread astonishment.
Archbishop Mark Coleridge of Brisbane said last month that the Australian Church was not aware of any such transfers and that the bishops had sought clarification from the Vatican and AUSTRAC.

Now this:

Vatican City: Cardinal Angelo Becciu, the most senior Catholic Church official ever to stand trial before a Vatican criminal court, has been convicted of embezzlement and fraud and sentenced to five-and-a-half years in jail.
It has been reported that the Vatican’s Prefecture of the Economy, led by Cardinal George Pell, first detected irregularities related to the investment.

An organisation led by Australia’s Cardinal George Pell uncovered wrongdoing by Cardinal Angelo Becciu.
An organisation led by Australia’s Cardinal George Pell uncovered wrongdoing by Cardinal Angelo Becciu.
It revolved mostly around the messy purchase of a building in London by the Secretariat of State, the Vatican’s key administrative and diplomatic department.

Pell and Becciu had long clashed over the Australian’s efforts to bring greater transparency and accountability to the Vatican’s balance sheets.

There was a lot more involved than just a real estate investment. Quite an Italian affair with lots of friends and family of the good Cardinal benefiting.
No word since on the millions sent to Australia that I have discovered.

New Rule: From the River to the Sea | Real Time with Bill Maher

This is very dangerous and symptomatic: Maher presents an entirely reasonable view about how conflicts can be resolved and how the palli situation is trite in human history. But what he misses is the unique quality of islam: it is immune to reason, negotiation and compromise. Islam also lies: Taqiyya underpins all of islam’s interactions with the infidel. It is islam’s way or the byway: you join or die or become a slave. The only solution is you either quarantine it or eradicate it.

What is in consideration is whether particular military objective is itself good (and not itself evil)

Like invading a sovereign country on a spurious pretext without a declaration of war, for example.

If not evil, certainly not justified according to the Christian doctrine of war, especially when the invading force wasn’t equipped to achieve its objectives.

Not opening a second front in this debate; for another day, perhaps.

Without intending to diminish the seriousness of the subject, the same applies to the decades-long social-cultural-political emasculation of the West. Yet the approach remains to ‘engage in good faith’ despite substantial evidence that such a strategy has not borne fruit.

If conservatives* were to manage businesses or lead professional sporting teams using the same approach they do in politics (‘keep trying the same thing; it will work eventually’), their positions would be terminated quickly. Business and professional sport require measurable outcomes. Why are the same expectations not applied to politics?

* A generalisation, I know, but substantially correct.

Lisa Wilkinson could be facing a lot more trouble than just Bruce Lehrmann, who’s suing her and Channel 10 for defamation over their crusade to damn him as a rapist.

Lehrmann’s case is going badly enough for Wilkinson’s qualified privilege defence, if the answers to the interventions of the judge, Michael Lee, are any clue.

But Wilkinson didn’t just allegedly defame Lehrmann in her 2021 report on The Project, during which former Liberal staffer Brittany Higgins claimed to have been raped in the Parliament House office of then Defence Minister Linda Reynolds.

Her report also savaged Reynolds’ chief of staff, Fiona Brown, painting her as part of a cover-up.

Brown has already sent Channel 10 a concerns notice – the first step in suing for defamation – and after what Justice Lee heard last week you’d think she’d reckon she might just have Wilkinson on toast.

Wilkinson had opened her Project report with bombshell allegations: “Tonight, claims of rape, roadblocks for police investigation and a young woman forced to choose between her career and the pursuit of justice.”

So there was not only a rape, supposedly, but a cover-up – and Wilkinson, channelling Higgins, seemed to blame Brown most of all.

Higgins claimed in the interview she’d told Brown about the supposed rape when Brown called her in three days later to explain why she’d been in the Minister’s office after midnight, naked and asleep.

Higgins also claimed Brown treated her allegation as a “political problem” and offered to pay Higgins to stay away during the election campaign.

“Fiona was … the only person I could talk to and it was dismissed,” claimed Higgins. “It always came back to sort of being a me issue and if you can’t deal with it then you can leave … I realised my job was on the line.”

Wilkinson had summed up: “The alleged assault left her feeling she had to choose between her career and seeking justice.”

This was a devastating attack on Brown’s integrity. She later told The Australian she’d tried to drown herself in the sea, but was saved by a surfer.

Leave aside the fact that Brown last year told the Sofronoff inquiry into the case that Higgins had actually denied to her in their first two meetings after the incident that she’d been raped, and said only at the second meeting that she’d woken up with Lehrmann on top of her. Nor had she offered any payment.

When Wilkinson and her producer, Angus Llewelyn, were cross-examined in the Federal Court last week, neither appeared to cite anything unequivocal Brown had said to make Higgins think she had to shut up.

So where was their evidence of any cover-up?

Why hadn’t Wilkinson instead noted that Brown offered to let Higgins bring her father to a meeting with Reynolds to discuss what had happened?

Because viewers had a “short attention span”, replied Wilkinson.

Nor had the Project mentioned Higgins had actually sent Brown a text saying “I’ve valued your support and advice throughout this period”, adding: “You’ve been absolutely incredible.”

Justice Lee seemed particularly puzzled by one other fact: how could Brown be accused of covering up this supposed rape when she’d arranged for Higgins to go to the Australian Federal Police office in Parliament House the very day Higgins said she’d found Lehrmann on top of her?

Wilkinson’s response was bizarre.

Lee: “Do you think it’s consistent with a systemic cover-up of a rape allegation for someone to escort someone to an AFP office?”

Wilkinson: “I think if Ms Brown had been properly trained in dealing with a survivor of sexual assault, the internal AFP would not have been a place to take them.”

The judge had an equally pointed question for producer Llewellyn.

Lee: “At the time the program was broadcast you had, to use your words, no proof of that allegation that she was being told that if she proceeded with police charges, that is pursued the rape allegation, that she’d lose her job? …”

Llewellyn “I didn’t have proof.”

Wilkinson dealt with that problem with another bizarre assertion: she hadn’t accused Brown of putting pressure on Higgins to stay quiet. She’d meant Higgins put pressure on herself.

Really? Wilkinson even denied she’d made Brown seem “cold and unfeeling” in the broadcast, and said she had shown her instead being “nice” to Higgins after the supposed rape by giving her a brochure for employee assistance and telling her to take off the rest of the day.

I laughed at that. I suspect Wilkinson may want to take off the rest of the decade from work after this is all over.

But why would a purported Palestinian State themselves exclude Palestinians residing abroad

For the same reasons that we don’t take in every immigrant from any anglophone country who would like to live in Australia – we have a cultural similarity and even shared ancestral histories, but no country can be swamped by incoming immigrants. What if all of Britain wanted to come here? Or swathes of the US? Can’t be done.

A Palestinian State or Province within ‘Greater Israel’ in boundary terms would have to start from today’s population, not those that left generations ago.

If Israel takes in any Jewish person wishing to arrive that is because Israel is economically advanced enough to do that. As I understand it, Israel also defines all Jewish people as Stateless until they reach Israel. That’s the difference, and that could change in the future too.

Cat 1 & 2 cyclones biggest effects usually are the rainfall, this one has been particularly slow moving and stalled over the SW cape.

Same set up as a few years ago on what happened in Townsville but ours was a tropical depression below cyclone status and stalled off shore to the north leaving us in a convergence zone for rain.

I remember Cyclone Tasha in 2010, trying to cook Christmas lunch on the patio in the BBQ while it was crossing north of Innisfail as a Cat 1. We gave up after the BBQ had to be relit and the rain blowing in under the patio was cooling the hood on the BBQ.

Cyclone Tessie Cat 2 LLCC hit between Rollingstone and Bluewater just north of here. Flooding from that closed the Bruce Hwy south and Flinders Hwy west for at least a week.

The littler ones often have a nasty sting in their tails.

Designed with those two aluminium clad monstrosities – “the shards” – on Flinders Street. The one right on the corner would block the view of St Paul’s cathedral from the south. Hamas knew there would be and indeed wants civilian casualties.
Israel seeks to minimise them.
Hamas seeks to maximise them.
Interesting that even yesterday in the north of Gaza on one of the Beit towns that has been the scene of intense fighting teenage boys are wandering around the streets.

Here’s one I learned over the years:
If someone attacks you or your family, you knock them down, beat the crap out of them, and if they try to get up then you beat them down again until they learn not to do shit like that.
I only had to do that once in school when a stack of about 6 arseholes tried to beat up my brother.
The lesson was learned, I got six of the best, and they never – ever tried to gang up on my brother.

Capturing and/or killing those on Israeli territory on Oct 7 and thereabouts certainly. But as a political/ military objective it is going to be problematic given the means necessary and the difficulty of its achievement.

Has Israeltaken all reasonable measures?

After allowing for injuries and deaths self-inflicted by Hamarse, their illegal use of civilian facilities for military purposes, and of civilians as human shields, what is your judgement?

Going to withhold judgement on both for now because I’ve encountered contradictory reports.

If your judgement has to wait until the conflict is over, it is not particularly useful. Why not be upfront, and just say “No”, which seems to be your preference?

My “proportionality” was immediately going to the school headmistress, for I was too small to fight them, and my brother even smaller.

So…the headmaster was called, and he carpeted the threateners. He told the chief bully he would contact his father. And that was that. Many years later I realised that the bully had been beaten systematically by his father over many years, poor little sod.

It was a life lesson, then…and later…and now. To seek help, to understand why someone might be horrible, and to be thankful I’m no longer little and helpless, and make sure those who are get my help.

Gasp!
More ridicule of Lisa!
Where’s Rafiki?

So there was not only a rape, supposedly, but a cover-up – and Wilkinson, channelling Higgins, seemed to blame Brown most of all.

Therein lies the problem for Ten and the Toad, I think.
Justice Lee has already made the clear distinction between the accusation of rape and the accusation of the cover-up.
And Channel Ten, being above tawdry tabloid stuff, insisted that it really was all about the fact that Parliament House didn’t have proper HR procedures and nowhere for a gal to go when things go pear shaped (or Britnah-shaped if you prefer).
This case is about Lehrmann being defamed.
Perversely, it is possible that Lee might find that Ten was justified in pursuing accusations of a cover-up, but also find in favour of Lehrmann. Ten could have easily run a program talking about a potential cover-up without identifying Hoggins or Lehrmann. They could even have said “panties”.

Wild thought (but serious):
Is there any chance the U.N. might categorise a laser-based defensive weapon as a chemical weapon, and thus either seek to ban it, or nobble the use of it as ‘borderline illegal’?

I thought of this while penning that letter. A laser beam designed to sweep the battlefield and blind enemy soldiers was classified as cruel and inhumane by the UN.
There’s no reason they cannot do that with the iron dome system.

This is called proportionality, Bob level.
I am looking forward to seeing it expressed against our Islamic Brethren.

Reminds me of the Corn Pop video.

Nobody expects the ACMA Inquisition! (Youtube, 9 minutes.)
Part of the Misinformation Bill says that ACMA can be directed by the relevant Minister to investigate someone for misinformation.
The initial set of 30 pages of explanation of the Misinformation Bill originally released by the government did not mention this power at all.

Amongst their many weapons are surprise, fear, ruthlessness, $9k-per-day fines for non-response, colourful departmental cardigans, and an almost fanatical devotion to the Minister for Communications.

Those downticks exist and the real likelihood is you. You said recently that you downtick and do so fervently to attack the commenter and not the comment.

The Australian TGA has declared that warships and armed guards are not approved treatments for Houthi-itis and must not be used. The national Health department declared that container ships will be required to wear giant masks for the duration of their voyage through the Red Sea, and for an additional 10 days if they have been within 2nmi of a Houthi outbreak. Other merchant vessels, cruise ships, and fishing trawlers will also be required to wear giant masks because “nobody is safe until everybody is safe”.

JC, are you deliberately being silly? Lizzie (that someone) raised the proposal of establishing a Palestinian State with the proviso that Palestinians abroad be excluded. I said that was a non-starter, and in order to explain this I added that an analgous proposal, excluding the emigration of European Jews to any proposed Jewish state, by the British would have been received by Zionists in Mandate Palestine in precisely the same way. This is just obvious.

This is a convoluted sophist argument, as logical as a playtime mini-golf run at a caravan park. Britain, directly against its Mandate, refused immigration of Jews. That’s totally unrelated to anything today about Arabs of the territory. That’s what’s obvious.

The Jabs/Boosters –

The human body is a nature honed over millennia exquisitely efficient system. Every cell, every enzyme, every protein has a purpose! The introduction of these products into that system has thrown a huge spike into the works! The system is terminally disrupted! How could humans have been so arrogant to think they could do better than mother nature, than God, with just a few hundred years of research? This applies to all vaccines, which we now know might provide short-term protection, but which come at the cost of immune system destruction. When the immune system is destroyed, when any part of the fine-honed system is disrupted, then illness results.

This is all a perfect example of why new products should never be rushed, why it takes 10 or more years to bring a new product to even initial market, why so many products that initially look promising fail upon further study, and why this should never ever have been rolled out untested to the population.

Humans should work with nature not against her. Nature gave everything needed! We shunned her. We pay the price!
