Well the good news is that by 5 years the ADF will have worked out which drone system to use. Might even have it available by 2030.

Just like the coming subs that are decades away.

We are so lucky our potential enemies are willing to wait for us to get our act together. However the good news is we can still win a war against NZ.

Meanwhile full steam ahead with military implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion and planning for the next Mardi Gras parade..

“Vicki, my grandson is also in the armed forces and they have been told war likely within five years”

the size of the Indonesian Navy and Air Force is not exactly a deep secret

The Army is generally used as a rotational policing force in garrisons designed to keep the population shutting up.

The Navy, like the Air Force thing, is a “must have them for face” concept. The Indon Navy is not capable of properly operating warships, and anyone who chooses to go to sea in their submarines needs their head read.

It was earlier reported as “independent forensic analysis.”

It should be phonemic analysis. I want an independent linguist.

Also, Crazy Karen stalked Liz for 2 1/2 years in the most grotesque way, ably assisted by other scumbags. He recently tried to bully me until the maggot realized that doesn’t work.

Did they chant ‘Gas the Jews’ or ‘Where’s the Jews!’

I can understand why the lying socialists of the alp think this minor discrepancy is material, but one would hope the NSW police would quickly realise that this revelation reflects extremely badly on their own credibility. One, where’s the Jews sounds nothing like gas the Jews, two, where’s the Jews suggests they were looking to bash Jews. Do they not see protesters should have been arrested?

Aha. I wonder if our cunning linguist missed an opportunity here.

Perhaps they were merely calling out ‘bash the Jews’.

What’s that, you cunning chap (or chapette)? The cops wouldn’t pay that one and you had to find something else? So you headed for the digraph WH?

The WH sound in English is the voiceless counterpart of /w/1. The pronunciation of the digraph ?wh? in English has varied with time, and can still vary today between different regions. According to the historical period and the accent of the speaker, it is most commonly realised as the consonant cluster /hw/ or as /w/2. The unvoiced Wh sound exists in English words such as Wheat, Whether, Wheel, What, Where etc.3.

Pull the other one.

At least I am free to say why I get hurt/angry/pissed off about this, and free also to continue on as ever.

JMH has been a serial attacker of me over the years. And now wants to remove others for attacking. Beauty, as ever, is in the eye of the beholder. As Dover knows, banning is the slippery slope. Sometimes it is necessary, if people thread bomb or go beyond legal.

As to police corruption, our experience in QLD was that there were honest police who resisted involvement in top down, systemic corruption. Indeed, without them the corruption would have been much more difficult to expose and they were in fact working towards that end well before ABC’s 4 Corners broke the story.

Very reassuring, Topender. I very much respect your input & opinion.

The Soviet Union started down the path of developing a carrier fleet sometime in the 1960s, under Admiral Gorskhov. The first fruits of this program were the two helicopter carriers Moskva and Leningrad, that were roughly similar to the contemporary French helicopter carrier Jeanne d’Arc.

By the time the Soviet Union collapsed around 35 years later, they had reached something comparable in performance, but not numbers, to the three British carriers Invincible, Illustrious and Ark Royal, except that the Soviet aircraft were not comparable to the Sea Harrier.

It is a long and painful path, which will inevitably be marked by many aircraft losses and aircrew deaths, without necessarily producing anything comparable to the US fleet carriers.

That is where things can go “exactly wrong”. See Israel in October 1973 and again in October 2023.

BJ – I was thinking of several other examples also, like “Peace For Our Time!!!”, 7 December 1941, 24 February 2022 and 2 August 1990. The Labor Party in pre-WW2 Australia is another, with their weird strategic idea we only needed aeroplanes and submarines, although I suppose that was an ALP brain explosion not an ADF thing really.

The Swiss have a better strategic approach. Don’t bother about who the enemy might be, just turn yourself into a porcupine. There’s a lot going for that strategic outlook since so much of what has been going on in the last few years has been because of perceptions of weakness.

One thing JMH that you could clear up is whether you are male or female. I thought for ages I was dealing with a grumpy fellow, only to have you say you are a woman, and still JC addresses you as ‘he’. It helps I think to know the sex of the people here (they can have whatever genders they like) because codes of normal interaction differ by sex quite a bit. I’m conservative and traditional enough to think this matters on a blog.

I doubt that Chamberlain truly believed “Peace in our time”. He was more likely trying to gain some (tactical, not strategic) time before the inevitable.

As for Pearl Harbor, the codebreakers had broken the relevant codes, the delays in warning Pearl were, again, tactical not strategic. The USN had been preparing for war against Japan for some (strategic) time, but the tactical intelligence and communications systems failed.

Paul Dibb forecast the Soviet collapse in the early 1980s.

Bureaucratic inertia was partly the problem, but intelligence agencies were not the only ones to fail there. Politics, academia and the media were also at fault. They all (except Dibb) believed Soviet economic statistics, as did the Politburo, who were probably as surprised as anyone else by the reality.

Another example of strategic intelligence failure is this one:

‘We’ve got to get off our ar***’: Former army chief urges government to acquire lethal drones as Red Sea conflict ramps up (30 Jan)

Former chief of army Peter Leahy has urged the Australian Defence Force to acquire killer drones in order to give troops the best chance of survival in a modern conflict.

The retired lieutenant general on Tuesday said the nation did not have any unmanned aerial systems and vehicles because the defence force had been “slow” to take up the technology.

He pointed to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, arguing lethal drones were central in gaining the edge on the modern battlefield.

If we have neither battlefield tactical drones nor effective drone defenses we’re screwed. We’ve already seen Albo decline a frigate for the Red Sea because our ships are completely incapable of operating effectively in the current battlefield.

I don’t see us gaining the necessary weapons systems in the necessary time either. There’s zero urgency in Canberra.

As for Pearl Harbor, the codebreakers had broken the relevant codes, the delays in warning Pearl were, again, tactical not strategic.

BJ – I agree with a lot of that, most particularly that Roosevelt oversaw a major peacetime build up that we totally aren’t doing right now. However the strategic failure was that the Japanese attacked at all, and that a vulnerable target was presented for them.

With all this the situation with China is the obvious present day strategic intelligence equation. I’m not seeing anyone doing anything much to make it plain to China that trying it on would be a faceplant for them. Instead there’s almost an encouragement for them to play games.

At least the Taiwanese have decided to be more of a porcupine.

You are lumping a lot of things under the heading “Intelligence”, many of which do not belong there. AFAIK, Leahy was never in the strategic intelligence business. He was in the capability development and command fields.

The Swiss have a better strategic approach. Don’t bother about who the enemy might be, just turn yourself into a porcupine.

Mmm. The Singaporeans had that idea for a while. From memory it was called “the poisoned shrimp strategy.” In other words, if you eat us you will die.

It lasted a while until they worked out that your country being annihilated being costly to the enemy wasn’t that great an idea, especially if it meant the other bloke was so big he could absorb the punishment – eg; look north and south of Singapore for examples.

A better idea is to hit your enemy at a distance, especially while he’s preparing, or en route. So submarines, long range bombers, carrier strike forces etc.

Nuclear-tipped Tomahawks are even better.

Those were failures of political and military policy. Intelligence is not the same as command.

FDR didn’t want to provoke an early war with Japan (though he did his best to do so in the Atlantic, with the USN escorting some convoys to Iceland, and under orders to attack unidentified submarines, with German U-Boats the only likely candidates).

Doesn’t matter BJ. He’s obviously correct. I’ve been fairly closely watching the technical advances in Ukraine/Russia. So has he, from what he says. And the events in the Red Sea support his thesis.

Perhaps it’s a self mea culpa on his part, since our lack of capability now is linked to his tenure in the first decade of this century. Prophesying the future is always hard of course. But he’s saying it now.

By the time Midway came along the naval code was 30% broken. AF was the code for Midway. The codebreakers boss was a no nothing dickhead and wouldn’t accept it. A few days before it happened they sent a message by undersea cable to get Midway to send a message that they were running short of water coz the desalination plant failed. 24 hrs later they found the message radioed to IJN command. BJ – Policy is downstream from intelligence. Intelligence failures cause policy failures. Strategic and diplomatic intelligence is the headwaters of the river.

Of course if the politicians do not listen to the strategic intelligence warnings there’s not much that can be done about it. Except shoot them for treason afterwards. Which at least would make us all feel better as we forcibly learn Mandarin.

(The whole Singapore/Malaya campaign and the prewar preparations is another example. At least three major strategic intelligence failures, land, sea and air, contributed to the fall of Singapore. I won’t expand since we Cats know this stuff pretty well.)

I forever seeing you as a young Harlow after that gravatar of yours Lizzie.

And so I was, once, Chris. Being a female through various eras, as I have been, one has quite a choice of likely avatars whose style and fashion were yours too if you had a good base. For instance, I spent most of my late twenties and thirties with long jet black hair but bright blue peepers and willowly svelte. Liz Storer has nothing on me back then. Although let it be said that truth is often a victim of memory. I vaguely recall being a redhead for a short period. Auburn, I called it. I slowly came back to being blonde again as age beckoned, as artifically blonde as I was naturally blonde in the flush of youth in the mid-fifties and early sixties. You didn’t dye your hair back then unless you were ‘fast’, which I was not. 🙂

In the end I thought Baby Attapuss was my best Avatar choice.

Ex-SAS soldier facing war crime allegations has bail relaxed

An ex-SAS soldier facing war crime allegations has been handed relaxed bail conditions after a magistrate ruled he presented no extra risk to officers conducting checks on him.

Oliver Jordan Schulz, 42, was on Friday granted permission at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court to fly to Perth to visit his lawyers, as well as travel from his current location in rural NSW to Sydney for medical reasons.

Stipulations of Schulz’s travel to Perth include that he is gone no longer than six days, remains subject to a curfew and is required to report to Perth police station daily.

Schulz is accused of approaching Dad Mohammad, in his 20s, in a wheat field in Afghanistan’s Uruzgan Province and firing three shots at the man while he was on his back with his hands and knees raised.

Mohammad’s father later complained to the Australian Defence Force, alleging his son had been shot in the head.

Magistrate Brett Shields said Schulz remained a person of good character in the eyes of the law, subject to the outcome of the case.

He noted there may be “considerable time” before the proceedings go to trial and Schulz was entitled to the presumption of innocence until then.

“There is no material before this court upon which I can conclude on any basis that (he) presents a heightened risk to those who must deal with him,” Shields said.

Schulz was arrested in March 2023 and released on bail a week later after a magistrate found he faced a high risk from Taliban attack if he remained behind bars.

He’s next due in court on February 20.

Beaugy, I assume you mean substitution. In which case you win today’s semantics award.

The basic problem with the modern world is that, even though we now have the world wide web’s universal access to information, the world has never been so ignorant and misinformed because activists are misrepresenting arguments as facts.

None of this would be happening if journalism was doing its job of being the public’s eyes and ears — because 99% of journalists aren’t interested in journalism’s foundational aims.

It’s much easier being lazy and using journalism to tell the public what to think.

I think it’s always been an issue with armies to keep warriors busy and motivated during times of relative peace. Hadrian solved the problem in Britain by building a great big wall to demark his Empire and also to control trade. The army units building it were in great competition with each other, which served to increase general morale. Occasional forays for a bit of barbarian head-hunting also helped. A grave stone (‘Riter’ type) found in Lancaster during one of our long stays there for Hairy’s work depicted a centurian on horseback with the usual headless barbarian underfoot. What caused a stir was the the centurian had three other human heads neatly parcelled as his catch hanging off the back of his saddle.

Know exactly what you mean.

Many years ago we owned 30 acres in the Adelaide Hills (in fact, not far from where we now live). I was taking Great Aunt Rose out for an airing and drove around the property until we saw a family of wood ducks. Mum and Dad Ducky tried to distract us with the ‘poor injured birdie’ routine, limping and dragging a wing, leaving their babies unattended.

Immediately, a crow swooped down and grabbed one of the clutch, then a seagull snatched another. “Save them!” cried Aunty.

I had to wrestle mentally with the idea of duck parents losing their offspring to humans, but the marauding predators had no such qualms. Consequently, we ended up with three of the most delightful (legally registered) pet duckies, who stayed with us for several years until we released them on a friend’s house dam.

I think I’ve told this story before, (only once,) but calli’s post just begged my reply.

More recently, I was walking locally and saw a Currawong flying by with another small bird in its beak. And even our Lorrikeets are meat-eaters on the feeder tray. Red in beak and claw, a world of pain out there in the skies.

I’ve been very depressed today. The lie that the NSWaffen put out this morning, a lie that is both Orwellian and pure gaslighting, has profoundly impacted me. I went to Pilates after work which has made me feel somewhat better, I’m home now, and I have lit my Shabbat candles, which comforts me.

This afternoon I thought long and hard about what I witnessed on Monday evening 9 October 2023. So, I’m going to engage in a little forensic work as I personally witnessed the opening scenes of what became a sordid night. I’ve spent the last hour thinking long and hard about what I saw and what ensued that night.

At about 5.05 p.m. that afternoon, Monday 9 October 2023 (might have been a little earlier), I left work to walk from my office to Sydney’s Town Hall. Why? Because I often walk to the Woolworths at Town Hall to buy groceries. When I do this, after buying groceries, I walk to Elizabeth Street and get the bus home. That day, Monday 9 October 2023, I did what I always do, I walked up Pitt Street to Pitt Street Mall, then I walked under Myer and the QVB to arrive at Woolworths which is smack bang next to Town Hall station. You walk underground from the QVB into Woolworths. I then bought some groceries. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from my offices to Town Hall. I had heard, an hour or so earlier before leaving the office, that Premier Minns had given the go ahead for the Opera House to be lit up in the Israeli flag, and that Sydney’s Jews were being invited to go down to the Opera House to view it.

But truth be told, I was in shock about the news coming in from Israel. The corpses were still warm.

Anyway, that afternoon after arriving at Woollies I purchased groceries and then used the escalators to go upstairs to the exit, usually I leave the Park Street exit. This was when I was confronted with a scene outside, a sea of Pallie flags along with numerous policemen. Stupid me, I should have walked away and left through the Park Street exit but I was bewildered, intrigued and disturbed by what I was seeing through the windows of Woolworths so I walked out the George Street exit and the scene got worse immediately, I was stunned, I witnessed a flotilla of Pallie flags and dozens of police, and I saw a Pallie mother and father walking with their children dressed in Pallie suicide garb. The screaming and shouting was already loud, there were loudspeakers spewing hatred against Israel. I then walked across the light rail tracks because I could see about 15 police facing the protesters, and so I then turned around to speak to a copper, I asked him if this was a Pallie protest (I knew it was), he nodded whilst trying to avoid eye contact with me, I then told him I was Jewish and did he know that the massacre of Jews on 7 October was the worst single atrocity against Jews since the Holocaust? He nodded and he muttered, his eyes catching my eyes, “yes, I know, it was terrible”. I then started trembling and thought, my God, I have to get out of here. I can honestly say that I have never never felt such visceral hatred and evil, I felt then and there what my ancestors must have felt when they experienced pogroms. I must have just missed those two other Jews, Mark Spiro and the Reverend Mark Leach. Probably just as well, and it was lucky that I wasn’t wearing my Chai or Magen David because no doubt the Waffen police would have dragged me away, pity though because that would have been a spectacle which would have left the NSWWaffen police reeling in a state of shock.

Shaking and crying I walked to Elizabeth Street, the whole time in a daze. When I get anxious or nervous my hormones give way, my body heats up and I start perspiring like a waterfall. It’s terrible, a result of menopause. No man can understand what it’s like. But worse was yet to come. I got on the bus to return home, I was dazed, teary and scared, I called and texted various people from my mobile. Once home, I do what I always do, the first thing I do when I get home is I take my bra off (women here will understand), I take off my makeup, and I then prepare dinner. Whilst dinner was on the stove I sat down, and I turned on my computer to read the Australian website, to read that…

NSW POLICE URGE SYDNEY’S JEWS TO STAY AWAY FROM THE SYDNEY CBD

I remember very clearly what I did next……..I SCREAMED. The NSW Police were calling for Sydney’s CBD to be JUDENFREI.

I was distraught, I rang my mother, my sister, my best friend. We had all heard the news. And everyone was sickened and nervous. We are still sickened and nervous. My best friend’s mother, an Auschwitz survivor, spent that evening sobbing.

But here’s the thing, the NSW Police are to blame for what happened that evening. They gave free rein to Jew haters, they handed the CBD streets over to Jew haters, and actually, every weekend since then they’ve handed our city over the Jew haters.

Given what I saw that afternoon when at Town Hall, the NSW Police already knew there was a problem with the frothing frenzied mob of Jew haters at Town Hall, that this mob of Jew haters posed an immediate threat and danger to Jews, that this mob of Jew haters wanted to hunt down Jews. But instead of keeping the baying mob contained at Town Hall, they chose the dhimmi route, they personally escorted this mob of baying Jew haters down to the Opera House, where there might be Jews wanting to see the Opera House lighted up in the Israeli flag.

So, why did that mob of frothing frenzied Jew haters want to go down to the Opera House? Because they knew there’d be Jews there. They wanted to hunt Jews, they wanted to attack Jews, and the NSWaffen Police complied. The NSW Police should have kept them at Town Hall and called in the riot police. Instead they told peaceful Jews to stay away BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT JEWS WOULD BE ATTACKED.

The NSW Police are responsible for what ensued on Monday night 9 October 2023. It is why I now call them the NSWaffen and I don’t use that term lightly. They collaborated with Jew haters, and one thing is certain, if those Jews haters at the Opera House had stumbled upon some Jews, those Jews would have been physically attacked.

We now have a legacy of a police force that refused to give Jews safe passage to view the Opera House lighting, and instead that night and since preferred to give succour to rabid, frenzied, frothing Jew haters. I will never ever forgive them for this, I have zero trust in the NSW Police.

This afternoon I’ve listened several times to the video that P linked to above, it is on the Speccie website. Every time I’ve listened to it, I have to swallow hard….this is not the country I grew up in. When you watch and listen carefully, it is actually a lot more insidious, sinister and menacing than most people think. You can clearly hear “gas the Jews” at the beginning, then the word ‘takbir” is said which seems to embolden the frothing Jew haters, then they start chanting “f*ck the Jews” and then I hear them chanting “where’s the Jews”. Why? Because they wanted to hunt Jews that night, and the NSWaffen Police enabled this. The NSWaffen Police stood by that night, and still stand by frenzied Jew hating Muslims and leftists who want to kill Jews.

Last Friday, if this Jew had found herself in the middle of the group of black clad Neo Nazis on the train at North Sydney, this Jew probably would have come out of it unharmed. But who hear thinks that if this Jew had found herself in the middle of that mob of frenzied, frothing Jew haters on the steps of the Opera House on Monday night 9 October 2023, whether I would have emerged unharmed? I think you all know the answer to that.

By the way, I don’t like Nazis of any stripe or persuasion but I know who poses the most danger to me and it isn’t those black clad ‘Nazis’ swooped upon on a train at North Sydney.

Apologies about the long rant, but I’m quite distressed.

As you know, I’m an optimist and what the past six months have established beyond doubt for me is that NSW police no longer stand by their original charter of protecting the citizens of New South Wales. Like Vicplod, NSW plod have demonstrated they can be bought and subdued by the ruling political party, for whom they are now effectively the armed militia.

The only reason this isn’t causing popular outrage in NSW is that the LNP opposition also supports it.

Senator Faruqi has sued over a September 2022 tweet by Senator Hanson, who wrote she should “pack (her) bags and piss off back to Pakistan”.

Worth recalling that Hanson’s tweet was in response to Faruqi saying she couldn’t mourn the death of the Queen because she represented imperialism yada yada yada.

Not to mourn was Faruqi’s prerogative, but any Muslim complaining about imperialism either lacks a knowledge of history or is lying.

Be that as it may, Faruqi had to make it an occasion to grandstand in public, thus causing offense. Hansons’ retort was fair in the context. I expect she’ll lose her case.

(The whole Singapore/Malaya campaign and the prewar preparations is another example. At least three major strategic intelligence failures, land, sea and air, contributed to the fall of Singapore. I won’t expand since we Cats know this stuff pretty well.)

You seem to be forgetting the major strategic intelligence failure of December 1941. That was the belief, which I suspect came from Washington, not Pearl Harbor, that the principal Japanese strike would be towards the oilfields in the NEI and, later, Burma. They expected Malatya, Singapore and the NEI to be the initial prime targets, with the Philippines possibly/probably also on the list.

Yet, if MacArthur was warned, he chose to ignore the warning (as he also ignored the actual attack on Pearl Harbor, leaving his aircraft lined up neatly by the runway hours later).

I love the moral and intellectual clarity of Douglas Murray, and I can’t wait to see him in March when he’s here. Murray doesn’t mince words and he’s ruthless when dealing with idiots. Tonight on Rita Panahi, when commenting on the Chicago council that has passed a “motion” calling for a ceasefire between Israel and the Nazis, as Murray said it would be much more useful for this Chicago council to call for a ceasefire in Chicago because Chicago has one of the highest gun rates in America or in any developed country for that matter, with mass and individual shootings being the norm normal on any given weekend in Chicago so he would urge this Chicago council to look in their own background before they decide to lecture other, particularly Israel.

Is there anyone in the British government who is brave enough to acknowledge the social emergency that has now developed in the UK as a result of intimidation and antisemitism from within the Muslim community?

It has reached the stage where a government minister has been forced out of parliament by Muslim intimidation.

Mike Freer, a minister at the Department of Justice, no less, has said he will step down from parliament because he and his loved ones can no longer endure the threats to his life over his support for Israel.

Over a decade during which he has served as the Conservative MP for Finchley and Golders Green — one of the most heavily Jewish constituencies in the country — Freer, who is gay and not Jewish, says he has received “several serious threats” to his safety.

He now wears a knife-proof vest when attending constituency events and says he feels lucky to be alive. In 2021, a government reshuffle meant he had to cancel his planned constituency surgery in order to remain in Westminster. While he was there an Islamist terrorist, Ali Harbi Ali, was lurking with a knife outside his constituency office waiting fruitlessly to attack him. One month later, Ali murdered fellow Tory MP Sir David Amess in a frenzied knife attack over Amess’s support for air strikes against ISIS and his membership of Conservative Friends of Israel.

Ten years previously, Freer was targeted by the group Muslims against Crusades (which was later banned). It posted online a picture of Freer with the message “Let Stephen Timms be a warning to you”. In 2010 Timms, a Labour MP, had been stabbed in his constituency surgery by an al Qaeda supporter.

A stinking, maggot ridden corpse of a once proud organisation, riddled with corruption

The NSW rum corps have never ever been “a once proud organisation”, but they have always been riddled with the massive corruption and the overweening obnoxiousness.

We used to refer to them back in the 80’s as “nayzee* faggots”.

There was a very good reason for this. Their stupid, hideously uglee uniforms, (especially the imbeciles in the motorbike squad) were reminiscent of “gay nayzees on acid” and the big equally stupid village peoples moustaches made them look like – well, big stupid aids ridden homosexuals.

They were so morally bankrupt I used to purvey large quantities of Mary Jane (fresh outta Gosford) to various of those I knew in the Newtown Police station (around the corner from where I was living at the time) during the massive all encompassing green drought of ’87 (as essayed at the time on the front page of the Silly Moaning Haemorrhoid). The only remaining stocks from my brother in law’s backyard trees that survived “the great munching” by his trustee Chow Chows.

So yeah Cats, this is not good. 😕

Congressional Hearing Spotlights UNRWA Failures – Mike Wagenheim
The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing Tuesday on “UNRWA Exposed: Examining the Agency’s Mission and Failures.” “UNRWA absolutely did unconscionable things,” said Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.), Chair of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability. “Certainly a large percentage of their employees are either a part of Hamas or some other terrorist organization or support Hamas or some other terrorist organization.”
Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) said, “UNRWA is committing wholesale child abuse against Palestinian youth. It’s teaching them to hate every single day.” Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) said, “There’s overwhelming evidence that UNRWA is clearly flawed to the core, that it isn’t just a couple of bad apples, that it is a systemic issue.” He said there is a growing bipartisan group in favor of humanitarian aid and education, “but there’s other agencies to handle that and it’s time for UNRWA to disappear.” (i24News)

UNRWA Must Be Replaced in Gaza after Hamas Falls – Richard Goldberg (Foundation for Defense of Democracies)

Former White House National Security Council official Richard Goldberg, a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Tuesday that UNRWA was founded as a political weapon in the Arab world’s campaign to destroy the State of Israel after its founding.
The agency has evolved into an internationally funded, locally staffed, foreign aid entitlement program that incites violence against Israel, subsidizes U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organizations, denies Palestinians their basic human rights, and blocks the pathways to a sustainable peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
While the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which has 19,000 employees, manages 29.4 million refugees, UNRWA employs more than 30,000 Palestinians to service a claimed figure of 5.9 million Palestinian refugees, which includes the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the original 700,000 refugees.
These Palestinians are brought up with the hatred and resentment that comes with the “refugee” label’s political and economic limitations. That label comes with a vision that one day the Jews will be driven into the Mediterranean Sea – and all these so-called “refugees” will return to their land. October 7 was the logical conclusion of UNRWA’s indoctrination.
UNRWA lists 1.7 million of Gaza’s population of 2.1 million as refugees – people who have lived in Gaza for generations – a statistic intended to advance a political agenda, not reflect reality. News reports discuss “urban refugee camps.” What is an urban refugee camp? That is a made-up term. These are cities.
UNRWA is not a refugee agency. Period. What should we call it? A welfare entitlement agency? A make-work project for Palestinians? A substitute for genuine Palestinian institution-building, self-responsibility, and self-sufficiency? Take your pick.
Congress should block any attempt by the administration to include UNRWA in the future of Gaza after Hamas falls.
