Definitely weekend shift ATM at News Corpse. Some clown who moonlights with AP Newswire among other stories is beating the drum for ex Cyclone Lincoln as well as normal wet season events near Tully of all places, 200m they were expecting today is around 5% of annual mean. Not overly unusual for Nov-Apr.

Then ex Cyclone Lincoln never got going again and currently sits at 1000mb well below cyclone threshold in seas too cold for formation. In fact these sorts of systems have what’s known as an extratropical low transition to become something more akin to a east coast low. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised ex Lincoln misses WA all together to meander out into the Indian Ocean before washing out or being absorbed into the lower hemisphere weather patterns.

Today was a nice day in Victoria after a cold start, tomorrow off to Shep to stock up on the damaged stock from SPC to take back to Qld. Sad to say Campbells as I find out today has closed up it’s outlet at Lemnos. Tomorrow looks equally as pleasant weatherwise.

The idea that the current account deficit or trade deficit is to blame for woe is really laughable.

1960 recession BOP near zero.
1991 recession, CAD, with a trade surplus.
1964 and 1967 in CAS, as were the early Whitlam regime.

As far as I could reasonably quickly fetch the data, Australia has had a persistent, near permanent CAD since the late 1950s – the real exception being the COVID lockdowns.

See here, the first chart to see when scrolling down the article.

A bloke (later told us he was 60) sheering a sheep with old fashioned BLADE SHEARS. He talked right through the exhibition about the history of shearing, the process etc etc. There was not a mark or speck of blood on the animal when he finished, & he didn’t use a sling.

This is the sort of bloke the ATO is crying out for.

Campbelltown.

Interesting. I had never been there and accepted its reputation as a druggie, housie hellhole.

When a neice set up a horsey breeding and horsey people dude establishment at Appin I visited a few times.

On the face of it, driving through, Campbelltown appeared to be a well manicured, attractive place.

I stated this belief at a function hosted by my niece.

They even left the bar to agressively correct my thinking.

Far to complex for an old bloke like me to understand.

On the face of it, driving through, Campbelltown appeared to be a well manicured, attractive place.

Some of the outlying suburbs weren’t too flash though. I had relatives living in Airds, Bradbury and later Rosemeadow (The later was nicknamed Roseghetto). The pub just up from Macarthur Square from a NSW Cop I used to know was one of the roughest in Sydney at one stage. Grandmother was at Leumeah after she was moved on from Green Valley which also wasn’t flash. Even my aunties who lived there were very protective of us when we visited. Most of my cousins turned out alright though, only one black sheep.

From what I know from rellies, most of the HC clientele have been moved on and ghettos like Airds are being demolished bit by bit. Last rellie who is still in Airds has been told her & husband will be relocated within 2 years. Probably why is seems different to it’s rep. Most of my cousins own their own houses in Camden now after doing trades.

Reputations are easy to lose and hard to win back I suppose.

Via Ace,

Minnesota declared itself a “trans sanctuary” that would sever the parental bonds of authority over children, if children ran away to Minnesota seeking genital amputation against the wishes of their parents.

Now Big Mutilation is rolling in money– the clinics are cutting and chopping night and day, and still can’t keep up with demand.

During the last legislative session, Minnesota declared itself a “trans refuge” state, inviting children from around the country to travel to the state to get “gender-affirming care” here if they were no longer able to get treatment to medically transition in their home state.
The law was specifically targeted to get children to come to Minnesota for treatments including hormones and surgery.

Minnesota Democrats placed this law near the top of their legislative agenda, and were over the moon when they managed to get the bill passed.

There was no question in anybody’s mind that this would result in a substantial expansion of the client base for clinics and doctors that provide this care. That was the whole point–to bring children here to get the care “they need.”

Regardless of what you think of the morality of what they did–this law would allow adults to violate court orders and custody rights established in other states–it was not just predictable but also the entire point was to dramatically expand the patient pool in the state.

Well, it happened, and in a big way.

And now the butcher shops “struggle” to keep up with demand. Hit the link for The Rest of the Story.

Here’s the link.

The words do not exist to describe these foul creatures.

Roger, thank you for asking.

Fortunately, a prayer and a wind change saw the fire recede from Beaufort and travel northwards. Of course, this put other communities in danger, requiring more prayers. According to ABC updates, three homes have been lost in the area, but conditions have abated temporarily, with more heat, wind and dry lightning expected Wednesday and Thursday.

I’ve spoken to brother several times throughout it all. He said many hospital patients and allied residents were shaken by it all, but they are being moved back today and tomorrow.

Many of the townsfolk knew of his tragedies, particularly after his son’s death, but he had become quite reclusive by then and people were not sure how to – or if they should – approach him. Some did, though, particularly his neighbour who would barge in and demand that he come over for dinner now and then.

How can Peter Dutton be worth $300M on a MP’s salary? Surely there is corruption somewhere.

I said where did you hear that?

He didn’t know but read it somewhere.

I googled it and on a bunch of websites, I had never heard of plus the Beetoota Advocate it came up several times.

I explained to him that the BA was a satire and the others were probably Green disinformation and PD is probably worth $10-15M.

This gave me an opportunity to declaim on the variously corrupt Labor politicians and the seriously screwed insider trading rules for US politicians.

He is a retired pilot, lefty( campaigned for Chicken girl here in Warringah) and despite that a very nice neighbour but clearly lacking critical thinking skills. There must be thousands of such naive people out there in our electorate and millions across Australia.

BJ, Tints may just well know something about this (although I wouldn’t dare claim to be commenting on her behalf).

. It was a dreadful scandal, many of the Italians in that motley group of impoverished people were from the Brugnera area on the Livenza River.

Coming from northern NSW near the New Italy area I’d heard stories in my childhood about how there came to be a New Italy. Visiting Italy for the first time in 2008 we stayed at a agriturismo in my mother’s village which in fact was run by the daughter of my mother’s first cousin. On the coffee table was a book about the story of what had befallen those Italians who’d been duped by that bounder Marquis de Rays — desperate people duped by an aristocratic cad. she dined out on that bon mot for decades. Never failed to remind anyone who was within breathing distance. That, and the fact that SHE went through to year 12. bluuurrrk.

As much as I dislike Ita these days, I have to give her credit when it’s due, Ita started as a cadet with Packer at age fifteen. Unfortunately, Ita and Amphibian both, have forgotten their roots.

As for Campbelltown, it was never as bad as made out. When it developed it’s fearsome reputation, it was still mainly a rural outpost. As with most Housing Commission developments, they were built in pockets amongst market gardens and bush. As mentioned by another commenter above, the various burbs, Claymore was the worst. The residents of these areas were never encouraged to buy their homes. There are third and fourth generation welfare residents living there. It literally was a place where they sent the people they believed had no hope of amounting to
anything. A whitey’s version of the block in Redfern where they dumped the Abo’s that didn’t want to live outback, but also didn’t want to go to school or work.

I was a Valley Girl for ten years. My parents bought our house. The funny and sad thing is, my family moved into our house at Busby, twenty years after the War and our neighbours on one side were Aussies, very kind to us, the other side, Krauts.

By the way, our Aussie neighbours had a concrete Abo and his lubra in the front yard.
Lol. The Krauts were renters and bludgers.

Also, let’s not forget those other areas of brotherly love, Doonside and Mt Druitt. Hah.

The DAAS guys are all woke these days

No, BoN, they aren’t. I caught up with Timbo recently (who’s a sad shadow of his former self thanks to MS) and he was very scathing about contemporary Ozzie “comedy” – “depressing and boring”, he stated.

As for DAAS on the ALPBC, that’s why I’ve recently been posting their film clips from the big gig (circa 1989-90).

“Do you like hippees?
Do you trust hippees?
Do you want them near you kiddies?
Have you ever been a member of the communist pardee?”

Such heresy would not be allowed nowadays, but that’s missing the point.

DAAS were collectivists pretending to be iconoclastic extreme right wingers.

They did it so well, that “Dead Elvis” and “I wanna spill the blood of a hippee” remain two of my favourite Ozzie songs of all time.

Then there was this li’l instrumental

Best enjoyed while totally planeted. 🙂

the reason I asked about Tobacco farmers, in the mid eighties, I met a lovely woman who lived up the road from me, I lived in a rural area of five acre lots. She was an Aussie who had married an Italian Tobacco farmer against her family’s wishes.
We got on so well, she treated me like a daughter.

Trump gets a lot of criticism here. You have this place confused with Free Republic!

Religion, for these psychos, is a thin veneer over authoritarian nationalism.

I hardly think people here can be called nationalists.

They don’t believe in democracy or the rule of law. Neither does db. Only power matters.

I know DB believes in the rule of law, we had a discussion about what the overriding principle in criminal sentencing is today. If there’s no rule of law, there’s no need for a jurisprudential framework.

Does democracy get criticised here? Yes, it does. Does anyone want anything inherently anti-democratic? No. The worst is they want a monarchy or republican checks or balances like recall elections.

I’ve never seen DB write anything sympathetic to fascism or power for power’s sake. I would call him a distributist. If you believe in subsidiarity (and the Western framework for the rule of law that goes back to Aquinas) it’s hard to be fascist.

No. Impossible.

In 1881, over 200 foreign immigrants, of whom a considerable number were Italians from Northern Italy, arrived in Sydney. They were the survivors from Marquis de Ray’s ill-fated attempt at founding a colony, Nouvelle France, in New Ireland

A slight digression, but this was about four years before the Germans claimed Kaiser Wilhelm’s Land, New Britain [not so named at the time of course], and various other islands; including (I think?) what is now known as New Ireland.

This annexation caused a bit of a panic in Australia at the time I believe. In September of 1914, an Aussie Naval and Military force seized these same German possessions after a brief exchange of musketry.

I think it’s becoming clearer what the recent rotation of the political axis is heading towards.

During the Cold War, the argument was teleological morality (old Left) vs nomological morality (old Right). The Right won that on the empirical result that showed good means produced good ends.

Where we are heading seems to be Moral Relativism (new Left) vs Objective Morality (new Right). Moral Relativism really only works as a descriptive principle. I don’t think this is a position that would survive long without the present grip on Academia and the mainstream media that it has.

M0nty seems to want to fight on the old battleground; and the Left generally seems to want to fight the rotation itself. The main tactic here seems to be increased political polarisation. Effecting this polarisation by attacking those who promote compromises (e.g. JK Rowling on trans issues) is going to be a losing strategy long term.

CONCEPTUAL BREAKTHROUGHS IN THE EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY OF AGING

A major emphasis in his work is antagonistic pleiotropy. That makes a lot of sense but I don’t know what the big deal is because it is obvious. It helps explain certain problems with aging. I should read the book. His ideas are a worthy contribution to the subject.

The idea modern conservatives have emerged out of the French Revolution.

This totally ignores early modern history, including English and American history. Let alone how different English and French societies were even in 1770 let alone 1789.

Conservatism can probably reliably go back to Lord North, the 1st Tory PM of significance, but you could go back as far as the Glorious Revolution. The Tories never sought to concentrate power in the hands of the Crown after this.

The idea that having an ethical argument against abortion based on scientific fact (life begins at conception) equivocates your beliefs to French feudalism owing its roots back as far as Roman Empire era (3rd century) Frankish King Marcomer is disingenuous and bizarre.

That just leaves 28 other meals.

I’m not accounting for salt, pepper, utilities, etc.

Maybe because it was designed for children the calories are low. My concern is micronutrients.

How to do two more meals similarly (frugally) without driving yourself nuts or eating too much carbs whilst getting enough protein and all micronutrients?

The organization added that it would be better to visit a sanctuary, where visitors aren’t allowed to feed or touch the animals, and are forced to maintain a certain distance from the wildlife.

The Sydney Zoo, on the other hand, apparently allows guests to have some hands-on experience with its animals, and the “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer and Kansas City Chiefs star reportedly fed a kangaroo during their zoo visit.

What an awful crime! But nice to see the happy couple having a good time here. Hard to be just a tourist when you that recognizable.

Footage of Albo at the Taylor Swift gig has made it’s way onto social media.
He was in a corporate box.
No doubt he’ll declare who he & his bird were guests of at some stage.

No wonder Albo refused to donate his concert tickets to the caller in the radio interview. You can’t have riff raff in a corporate box.

Mummy bloggers are opining that the new female Woolworths CEO is being “set up to fail.”

The sisterhood is right behind you, Amanda, knives in hand.

Will it be another nonentity to destroy the company like that vapid Optus woman?

I think Mz. Rosmarin was a singular specimen.

This lady apparently has runs on the board in another division of the company.

Given Woolworths’ market share, I think it behooves us to wish her well in restoring the company’s reputation, which will mean setting aside political agendas, putting customers first and giving suppliers a fair deal while delivering a profit to shareholders.

I find it interesting that [Albanese] hasn’t declared who his father is…

In his parliamentary citizenship declaration, that is; in case anyone was wondering.

He was expelled “less than 12 hours after his arrest”, Mr Darmanin said in another post, adding that the new laws “makes France stronger”.
“We won’t let anything go,” he warned.
France’s immigration reforms have reduced protections for foreign residents and made it easier for them to be deported if they get a criminal conviction or are deemed to be a “grave threat to public order”.
French media reported that Mahjoub Mahjoubi had boarded a flight back to Tunisia on Thursday evening.
His lawyer said they would appeal his deportation.

This is from Rosie’s link at 7:01 am.

I have a new respect for France, they may even survive the invasion.

A note to our politicians: this is how you deal with real scum, no need to house and feed them for decades.

Why don’t we have more Filipino migrants?
From my experience they are an asset to any community you find them.
They certainly boost church attendance.

The German centre-left government is moving to “mass deportations” (the Chancellor’s own words) of failed asylum seekers in response to public discontent over border policies.

Anglosphere countries are rapidly becoming the odd men out on this issue.
