I think the way to fix that is to have the negotiations before the seats are allocated.
Each party will have a vote in meetings for each seat to determine the representative for that seat that is in proportion to the votes that party received in that seat.
Negotiations beforehand will allocate who gets what seat, and possibly also cover what policies the agreeing parties should pursue.
A minor party could not, in these circumstances, simply choose to obstinately block, because then they just end up with zero seats. The deal gets you seats, but then the deal is done.

The problem with the preferential system is that while you can direct your preferences, there is no negotiation at all in the choice between the two majors. You get to pick one of two and then live with whatever they decide. Worthwhile compromises (e.g. ASIC reform) don’t get a chance.

There’s no perfect electoral system. Every system has flaws, be it the US system, preferential, proportional and first past the post.
I note how earlier our very own Nazi excitedly proclaimed that Margaret Thatcher’s old constituency had gone to Labour. Well, the Nazi’s statement was quickly rebutted because Thatcher’s seat no longer exists and hasn’t existed for almost thirty years, but certain parts of it do now form the constituency of Finchley and Golders Green. Today Finchley and Golders Green fell to Labour, although I suspect it will be a one term win. It remains a heavily Jewish district. I can’t believe London Jews succumbed to voting for Labour (remember, Sturmer was always a key ally of Corbyn). However, until today Finchley and Golders Green had been held by the Conservative MP, Mike Freer, a longstanding and well respected member. Freer is not Jewish, he’s gay and he was very popular with his electorate, an electorate that includes many Orthodox Jews. So, you might be wondering why Freer resigned, being so young, he had a bright future and without a doubt he would have won today. Well you see, since October 7 Freer had been subjected to many threats, including stalking and death threats, from leftist and Muslim Nazi scum, his crime being he represented a heavily Jewish electorate and he was a vocal supporter of Israel and the Jewish people. Also, and many might not know this, Freer was stalked by the same Muslim Nazi, a vicious creep by the name of Ali Harbi Ali who, unsuccessful in killing Freer, found greener pastures at the political office of the sainted Sir David Ames, who he proceeded to stab to death. You see, Ames was also a vocal supporter of Israel and Jews.
So Mike Freer decided he’d had enough. I don’t blame him.

a) individual member electorates give too little power to minor parties; and,
b) proportional representation gives too much power to minor parties.

For what it’s worth, Robert Verkaik’s book “The Traitor Of Arnhem” has been delivered. I’ve read the first section, which rehashes the old claim that a Dutch traitor, one Christian Lindemans, nicknamed “King Kong”, on account of his large and powerful physique, betrayed the plans for the landings at Arnhem to the Germans.
This was a claim first made, in books written just after the war, but has been comprehensively refuted since – the best refutation is a book “The Battle of Arnhem – the Betrayal Myth Refuted” by Cornelius Bauer. Basically Lindemans did warn the Germans that an airborne operation in Holland was possible, but the Germans could read a map as well as anyone, and they concluded that, yes there were three airborne divisions in England, and that Holland was the only occupied territory still within range of Allied transport aircraft, but a landing as far in their rear as Arnhem was unlikely.
I don’t know whether to bother with the section about how the Cambridge spies furthered Soviet interests by betraying the plans to the Germans.

We rarely fly Q but went into their lounge in Melbourne when flying with another airline last year.

I bought some, as I mentioned, and I been adding to my position. The buying isn’t occurring because of the car business. It’s heading higher because of the bet that Musk comes out with self driving robo taxis and the robots. If this side is executed well, I’m not kidding, the Tesla could end up with a US$6 trillion market cap. Musk reckons $US30 trillion, but I’ll happily settle with a sixer. The current self driving software used in Tesla is supposedly the very best in the business by a huge margin.
I’m actually frightened how bullish I am on Tesla. I’m not exaggerating, if he executes well on the robo taxi and humanoid robots, Musk will be the first trillionaire.
One concerning aspect of the US stock market is that it currently represents 60% of the world’s total market valuation.

I very optimistic about where we’re heading with AI and where it will end up. However, the point of contention with the bonehead troll was that I suggested demand for energy, caused by huge demand from AI models, will trip over energy needs in the US. We’re currently seeing evidence of this as server farms are scrambling around for energy and butting heads with traditional consumers. The trans bot appeared to have taken exception to that comment.
