The News reporting of this crap is adequate except at the end this shit:

At least 39,897 Palestinians have been killed over the course of the Gaza Strip conflict.

You sure it was not meant in the same consoling way as;

Damn! My hard drive died. At least I have back ups of my files in the cloud.

Nikki Haley coming out on Fox strongly for Trump.

What she says is important, because she’s pointing out the target market that she could have brought to the election for the Republicans. This market can still be won and needs to be won from swaying towards Kamala Harris.

I know it’s all optimism on steroids.
Trump gets in. Instead of getting into strife with China, the US and China begin to make nice, realizing that a bad relationship is neither conducive to them nor the world.
Trump manages to help find a peaceful solution with Russia.
Trump walks the Paris Accords, and US energy policy becomes “drill, baby, drill.”.
Small nuke reactors begin to make a show.
Deregulation takes hold.

The US economy is running at full steam. The debt level is frozen, and markets become optimistic on that score.
Tech takes off, causing all sorts of efficiencies in the economy, and the EPS (earnings per share) stays where it is now: 32 times earnings, while earnings growth in the Dow stocks accelerates to 10% over the period.

What will the Dow look like in 2034? 10 years.

If the growth rate stays at 10% for the period and the PE remains the same, I calc’ed the Dow would be 2.6 times what it is now.

39,800 x 2.6 times = 103,480.

Any thoughts on the Epworth as a hospital?

way back, I was driving home up Swan St past the Epworth and was stuck in peak hour gridlock

I watched the nurses wheel an bloke out the hospital front door who must have been in his 90’s, and whose foot was bandaged big-time

they sat him on the footpath on one of those wobbly green plastic garden chairs.

then they dumped his case and toiletries beside him.

so while I’m sitting there in traffic the bloke falls off the chair and rolls into the gutter helpless

bugger this I though and blocked traffic to help him out.

turns out he has no way home, no phone, no family … nothing

and they didn’t even call him a taxi

anyways, he’s going to Hawthorn and we chatted while I drove

his big toe was amputated
all his kids had moved to Europe
and its just him on his own now

he used to be a surgeon
at the Epworth

dropped him off at what was a Victorian mansion on half acre block … horse-shoe driveway and topiary … the lot

I wonder if all hospitals treat their alumni professors like this?

make sure you have cash Rock Doc, just in case

In the village of Battle for a few days, the supposed site of the Battle of Hastings.

I say “supposed” because although Battle Abbey was built here on William the Conqueror’s orders, on the site where King Harold fell, there have never been any mass graves found nearby. Apparently thousands of soldiers died in 1066 in the fight against the Norman invasion. These were Christians too who buried their dead.

Lovely old buildings everywhere though.

For much milder naughtiness too. Had I been caught doing what those boys were doing I’d be grounded for life.

Yep, me too. Further to my mother’s French wooden spoons, which were thick, very thick, I remember my sister getting smacked by my mother, and mum used some cheap Kmart spoons. I still remember sitting at the kitchen table and seeing my sister laugh out loud because the cheap Kmart wooden spoon Mum was using on her snapped. Well, my mother fixed that problem, she went out and bought some heavy duty French wooden spoons, and those spoons never broke again!

The U.K. show trials begin:
“There are two parts to the charges, the first part comes under the Public Order Act s.19.  Under normal circumstances that would seem to be a hopeless charge given that misreporting cannot be construed as being “threatening, or abusive”.

The second part is the more sinister charge under the Online Safety Act which was a stick that was created by the fake-Conservative government and introduced in March 2022 by the hopelessly dishonest Nadine Dorries.  Sandwiched in between some very sensible measures concerning actual online abuse lurks the devious section 179.  This creates an Orwellian crime of Wrongspeak whereby a sender posts a message which is knowingly false and the person intends “to cause non-trivial psychological or physical harm”.  This creates a wide open goal for any oppressive state to censor citizens, you could easily see a scenario where something is “false” because it contradicts the State’s current position on any give issue and nebulous psychological harm can be certified by a state sponsored expert.

Naturally, “recognised news publishers” are exempt from this liability, so the State will be able to continue to lie on an industrial scale via a co-opted mass media without any repercussions.” – Alex Kriel

I’ve just read that to my wife and we’re both laughing remembering instances like that with our mob.
The spoon in question is on the wall as a funny memory and has all the offspring’s names etched on using a wood burning tool.
It is a “heavy duty” spoon measuring 800mm in length and although very rarely used, it was used.

They all laugh about it now.

3. “Pandemics” magically coincide with US Presidential elections.

I spent a fair bit of time ferrying sprigs to basketball games/ gym things at Melbourne’s Jewish schools. They are reverse jails – locked down gates, guards on every entrance.

ALL Jewish schools, kindergartens, creches, aged care, communal organisations, synagogues are guarded by heavy security.

Jewish schools receive regular threats, mainly from adherents of a certain religious ideology (guess which religious ideology). Some people like killing Jewish children, remember Toulouse in France in 2012…….

The Toulouse and Montauban shootings were a series of Islamist terrorist attacks committed by Mohammed Merah in March 2012 in the cities of Montauban and Toulouse. Merah targeted children and teachers at a Jewish school. He began his killing spree on 11 March, shooting an off-duty French Army paratrooper in Toulouse. On 15 March, he killed two off-duty uniformed French soldiers and seriously wounded another in Montauban. Then on 19 March, he opened fire at the Ozar Hatorah Jewish day school in Toulouse, killing a rabbi and three children, and also wounding four others children.

That Rabbi was about to walk into through the school gates with his two little boys when he and the boys were murdered by Merah. Merah, on a scooter, then grabbed a little girl, whose mother had just dropped her off at the school, by her hair and shot her in the face. The mother witnessed the atrocity.

About two months ago I went to the Jewish museum for a concert, it’s easier to get into Fort Knox.

Judaism and its daughter Christianity shine light onto the world, Islam brings darkness onto the world.

An emerging Indigenous leader who runs one of Australia’s most powerful land councils and was recently appointed to a state health service board has been charged with a raft of serious domestic violence and stalking offences.

Dion Creek, chief executive of the Cape York Land Council, was arrested at the weekend in Cairns on 15 charges relating to alleged offences over the past five years.

Mr Creek, who remains in custody, has been touted as among a new generation of Indigenous leaders with grassroots support in Aboriginal communities and strong political connections in both major parties.

In 2022, he became the youngest CEO of the Cape York Land Council, a native title representative body that has been a leader in the Aboriginal land rights struggle since it was formed in 1990.

Mr Creek, 38, was heavily involved in last year’s revival of the bid for World Heritage listing of parts of Cape York, launched jointly by the state and federal Labor governments.

The father of five was denied bail by the Cairns Magistrates Court after appearing on the 15 domestic violence offences, which included four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of common assault. He was also charged with unlawful stalking.

It is understood the police investigation involved alleged violence against two women.

Cinema tickets costing too much? Nothing worth viewing? Attend your local Courts for mixed comedy, farce, and exasperation:

A self-proclaimed human rights ambassador, lawyer and ‘sovereign tribal’ citizen was marched out of the Darwin Supreme Court after he repeatedly interrupted his wife’s pre-trial kidnapping hearing.

NT Police were called to the Supreme Court on Tuesday during the pre-trial hearing of Laura Hinks, Juliet Oldroyd, Angela Marcus and Annette and Phillip Howie.

The alleged fringe conspiracy group are accused of helping Ms Hinks kidnap and hide her five-year-old daughter, whose disappearance for 12 days in August 2022 triggered a nationwide search.

It is alleged Ms Hinks and Ms Oldroyd bundled the young girl into a Toyota Kluger during a supervised visit at Berrimah, with the pair also attempting to grab her 11-year-old brother.

They were charged with abducting a child under 16 years of age and attempting to commit an offence – while the Howies and Ms Marcus were charged with aiding another to commit an offence.

The accused are yet to enter pleas.

With just 90 days until their Supreme Court trial, Ms Oldroyd and Ms Hinks remain without proper legal representation.

On Tuesday their procedural hearing was repeatedly delayed, with Chief Justice Michael Grant forced to call security twice to evict two men there to support the five allegedly part of the kidnapping plot.

The husband of one of the alleged kidnappers, Craig Oldroyd — who goes by the name Wulimani and claims to be the Human Rights Ambassador to Sovereign Tribal Nations — repeatedly claimed to be his wife’s legal representative as he had “the power of attorney”.

Justice Grant asked him not to interrupt as he was not an admitted legal practitioner, but Mr Oldroyd refused to be addressed by his surname while his supporters accused the judge of committing “fraud”.

When security approached Mr Oldroyd, his supporters said if they touched him “you will be charged with genocide”.

Police were called to remove Mr Oldroyd from the courtroom.

After briefly resuming, Justice Grant was forced to again close the court when a man from the gallery kept accusing him of committing “fraud”.

“You can’t have me removed … You be quiet. You have no jurisdiction in this court,” the man told the judge shortly before he was removed.

Questions have been raised over Ms Oldroyd’s health and ability to attend her own trial.

Her psychologist, David Chapman, said the 52-year-old had suffered from a prolonged period of depression with severe anxiety, with the combination of trauma and perimenopause complicating her mental health,

He said a trial may “trigger a relapse” but with a correct approach and medication she should be able to attend her trial, either in person or via a video-link.

Justice Grant said he also remained sceptical Ms Oldroyd would organise “orthodox legal representation” ahead of another pre-trial hearing on Friday September 13, or trial on November 11.

Watched the Australian Olympians return on the electric teev.

Obviously, Handsome Boy was on hand to scrape up some vicarious glory. Good Lord, he stands out as an irrelevant, desperate, grasping little thing – cartoonists Spooner and Leak have him picked so well.

One thing also stood out, inadvertently highlighted by the personal defects displayed by the grotty little 32% welcoming committee; Jessica Fox is a very complete package.

I was mildly surprised that bGirrrl Rayburn returned. I can only assume, Mission Accomplished.

A final Ozempic observation:

Mens’ BMX (which I watched one session of just to sneer at) is actually a tour de force of skill, physical daring, gymnastic ability and athleticism. There would be many, many events I’d see dropped first.

Perhaps there’s still time to hand it to Uzbekistan, or Togo.
