Absolute INSANITY.

The Department of Justice wants the court to GAG Ethan Haim’s right to RT prominent voices on X who work to protect Texas children and have come to his defense.

Doctor Haim blew the whistle on Texas Children’s Hospital and their practice of illegally transitioning children.

Go ahead and add me to the list of those who will not be quiet! I will also be following and reporting on this story closely, starting now.

In order to accomplish this, Mark Milley should be recalled to service, court-martialed, punished, and publicly dishonored in order to prevent a resurgence of the corrosive principle of leftist military partisanship during Trump’s second term.

Wrong.
Mark Milley should be recalled to service, court-martialed, and if found guilty, shot.
It is the only sentence the Left understand and they would apply it to us.
Any Democrat President would pardon him and he would live in luxury from sympathisers for ever.

Sweden has just under half our population. It built a conventional submarine, the Gotland, so stealthy the US navy leased it for a year because in war games it sank their carriers 5 times. It has just released a new model, the Blekinge class, it has developed cutting edge fighter aircraft for at least 30 years with the latest models being sold to a few countries, a thriving IT sector, a world famous medical institute, Karolinska, two globally recognized car makers, and it sells furniture all over the world.

What went wrong?
The criminal class running the Unions and the Labor Party. And their suborning of the Liberal Party.
I think that just about every problem these days can be traced back to this class.
You are looking at a society that is in the middle of the transition to a Kleptocracy. The only bastion against this collection of Australian Mafiosi to this point is the general population, and they are tired of the fight.

The abortion speech, the student walkout – and the Catholic civil war
SMH – By Jordan Baker – December 3, 2024 — 7.30pm

Excerpts:

“The Catholic community in Australia cannot ignore the ongoing crisis that decisions taken by the senior executive of ACU have caused for its Catholic identity,” the letter, written by members of the influential Catholic lawyers’ group, the St Thomas More Society, said.

While accepting an honorary doctorate – for which he was nominated by Fisher – de Bruyn said abortion was the single biggest killer of human beings in the world, and a “tragedy that must be ended”. Catholic doctrine teaches life is sacred from the point of conception.

The speech prompted a mass walkout by staff and students. The university expressed regret for distress caused to the community, refunded the students’ graduation fees and offered counselling. It defended de Bruyn’s right to express his personal beliefs, but said the content of the speech did not meet its standards for student safety and inclusivity.

Guv Karen Bollocks has rejected the argument there’s too much government spending in VenOztraliastan right now, saying it is helping to keep the economy on an “even keel” and things* could be much worse without it. She has also criticised the suggestion that the current level of growth we’re seeing in public sector employment was a bad thing for the country. “Growth in employment in the non-market sector is actually good,” Guv Bollocks drooled on Thursday.

The above from the ALPBC (yes, I know – trying to find a reference to her most recent comments on the subject).

OK. So which is it? Either Guv Bollocks supports albansleazy and dim chambers spraying around OPM like there’s no tomorrow, or she doesn’t.

Presumably that pair of irredeemable incompetent imbeciles’ massive wastage of OPM is not what Knight was referencing in his latest cartoon.

Not ‘can’t’, BoN. the correct term is ‘won’t’.
These projects are political, not economic. They have a political criteria for success – not an economic one.
Like the NDIS and all the other money churners, the aim is the economic destruction of the nation.
Never letting a crisis go to waste is the process, and the result is chaos which is something the communists will take advantage of. It’s what they have done every time they get into power.

As mentioned above, the real question, so seldom asked by the media, is “ Exactly where did all the money go?”
How about this for a plan – when a Govt. project goes over budget, 10% of the cost overrun is divided up and added to the taxable income of the Premier, Minister, cabinet members and management level of the relevant Govt. Department.
At the least, we would then see very careful and cautious coatings upfront so the true cost/value of some of these Rortasaurs is more apparent.

I wasn’t aware “his character as a tactical and transactional leader” had ever been evident, full stop. When he was spruiking da screech? When trying to ram through the MAD bill? When selling Israel down the toilet (again)?

His current guise is Mr Practical.

As opposed to Mr Incompetent, Mr Tone Deaf, Mr Arrogant, Mr Jellyfish, Mr Expedient, Mr Upgrade and Mr Stupid (to name just a few). All guises he’s effortlessly donned at various times in his disastrous tenure as prime minister of the worst government since St Gough’s. “Mr Practical” appears however, to have been missing in action.

Koreans are renowned for their, shall we say ‘vigorous’, protests.

I wouldn’t read too much into them having a scuffle with the military on the streets.

Question is – why was martial law declared?

I read somewhere that martial law has been declared as the government suspects there will be an invasion or an attack from North Korea.

So let me get this straight, the South’s president declared martial law to prevent the North’s imposition of martial law on them.

Question is – why was martial law declared?

Money. Of course.

South Korea stunned after its President declared martial law, triggering protests and soldiers’ attempts to enter parliament (Sky News, 4 Dec)

The move comes as the President’s party and its main opposition the Democratic Party remain at odds over next year’s budget bill, the AFP reported.

He accused the opposition of controlling the parliament, after it cut about $4.4 billion from the government’s budget plan which will reportedly impact budgets for the President’s office, the prosecution, police and state audit agency.

“Our National Assembly has become a haven for criminals, a den of legislative dictatorship that seeks to paralyse the judicial and administrative systems and overturn our liberal democratic order,” President Yoon said in the Tuesday night speech.

Much like what is happening in France where the Prez there also had a disagreement with the parliament about their budget. We’ll see if the Frog government gets booted tonight our time when the no confidence vote is held. As for Mr Yoon I suspect he’s about to be impeached.

Record state spending will only prolong the pain for borrowers

Simon Benson, The Australian, 3rd December 2024

One undeniable fact will be evident in Wednesday’s national accounts. Whatever growth there is in the economy will be almost entirely due to a mad rush of government spending, both commonwealth and state. The highest quarterly numbers as a share of the economy on record, no less. This model of state intervention is unsustainable in the long term. The political dividend is equally questionable…

Questionable indeed.

The Guardian is very perplexed that their latest poll shows voters don’t appreciate Lucky Jim’s economic management, despite wages growth officially now creeping ahead of inflation.

That might be because nobody outside the public service is seeing any wage growth and they’re worried about their job security as business insolvencies hit a record high this year.

People just don’t appreciate having it so good.

Inflation, energy prices, wage rises, everyone tightening their belts. We might not be in technical recession due to accelerated government spending (on wages too) but we are in a household recession with people subsidising their lives from savings or discretionary spending.

Can We Talk About J6?
The “insurrection” narrative has enjoyed unchallenged dominance for so long, the reckoning will take time. Let us finally begin to hear the truth about that fateful day.

The same 20 percent of the population who still line up for Covid boosters will probably persist in thinking that unarmed people escorted into the Capitol by officers were somehow mounting an attack on par with Pearl Harbor and 9/11. But let the remaining 80 percent of the American public hear the truth from those who were there and who have had their lives blown to bits and their spirits all but crushed.

… if we’ve learned anything from the election just passed, it is that the mainstream media parrots propaganda from a central command, not from anything they’ve actively investigated. We will soon see who has told the truth. With the nomination of Kash Patel to head the FBI, the reckoning will be sooner rather than later.

Elon and Vivek have become his focus. He’d always put up a good argument for social policy but realises now it always has to be paid for by the productive. Some of what I’ve said over the years has finally sunk in. The best thing is he wants to be self sufficient. No3 son has started the executive training in his company. He has no tertiary qualifications which he will have to obtain to progress. He was in discussions with the junior executive who are all graduates but have no knowledge how business works. When he put them straight on some matters they couldn’t understand how he’d know. They know nothing of personal relationship with the customer. It is past time letting recent graduates make decisions. I’m all for learning on the job with higher education, the cadet system worked well for a long time. The most valuable things your son can get from his MBA are skills leading groups in group assignments and connections to like minded and competent people. Encourage him to ensure he leads in group assignments and that he does not drag dead weight along with him across multiple groups. Also don’t get caught out going against group think without a robust argument and references from a novel source or faculty. Academics love it when their students go the extra mile and find sources they were not aware existed.

‘Woefully one-sided’: Jewish council ‘deeply disappointed’ in UN vote
Ben Packham
The Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council said it was “deeply disappointed” in the government’s latest “one-sided” positioning in the UN on Palestine.
“This is a resolution that puts many obligations on Israel but asks nothing of the Palestinians,” AIJAC executive director Dr Colin Rubenstein said.
“It is woefully one-sided – which is why, for more than 20 years, Australian governments of all stripes have always voted no, or abstained.
“And this year it was made even more radical, with new demands Israel must unilaterally withdraw from all disputed territory as soon as possible without any negotiations, and pay compensation to the Palestinians. This makes the government’s decision even harder to comprehend.”
Dr Rubenstein said the resolution was a “recipe for further conflict”, because it failed to impose any obligations on Palestinians.
“This resolution does nothing to acknowledge that Israel needs a willing partner for peace, and nothing to require the Palestinian Authority be reformed or Hamas be marginalised, both of which Foreign Minister Penny Wong has said are essential.
“It is therefore clearly against the conditions Senator Wong has said are necessary for a two-state peace.”

“This resolution does nothing to acknowledge that Israel needs a willing partner for peace, and nothing to require the Palestinian Authority be reformed or Hamas be marginalised, both of which Foreign Minister Penny Wong has said are essential.

Wong is a soulless robot.

However she will be completely aware of this conundrum. In fact she is taking advantage of the fact that nothing can progress with PA/Hamas terrorists at the table discussing any sort of viable state.

The impasse allows her to simultaneously polish her UN cred (for later life) and walk both sides of the domestic street, calling for a Muslim vote-winning Palestinian victory with all the trimmings – but with absolutely no risk of it ever happening and her having to explain to bulk Australia why she helped usher Israel into the showers.

Any distress and outrage caused to Jewish Australians is a small political price to pay for the Grey Lady.

Walked past St Mary MacKillop College in Wanniassa. New gymnasium just about finished. What a magnificent facility. Talking to one of the workmen I could tell they were proud of what they’d built. He was doing finishing touches outside. It wasn’t just a job. Between St Mary MacKillop and Trinity across the road they’ve kept a couple of building companies in work for 18 years. Also property prices are pretty good as a lot of families move in so the kids can attend.

In Cheer Up, Things Could be Worse news:

Adam Bandt pushes for formal power-sharing deal with Anthony Albanese in case of minority election

Adam Bandt has put Anthony Albanese on notice the Greens would seek to formally lock in their support for a “stable effective and progressive” parliament if Labor fell short of a majority at the next election. With polls suggesting a hung parliament could be a possibility, the Greens leader said there would be a “lot of merit” in clarifying what reforms could be achieved.

I think working that out in advance, working out what the benefits will actually be for people and knowing how then the next three years would map out … that is probably the priority,” Mr Bandt told the ABC’s Afternoon Briefing on Tuesday.

I also think it would be a great idea – just not for the same reasons as Bandt.

The voteherd would benefit greatly from knowing ‘how the next three years would map out’. A bit like knowing in advance that DIY eyeball tattooing is probably not the thing to do…

EPA Advisor Admits ‘Insurance Policy’ Against Trump is Funneling Billions to Climate Organizations, “We’re Throwing Gold Bars off the Titanic”
It’s a turbulent time at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), according to a current staffer, with morale at an all-time low. As President-Elect Trump readies to take office, gloomy EPA employees are scrambling to distribute funding for their favored climate change initiatives. Brent Efron, a special advisor implementing Biden’s climate agenda, told Project Veritas the agency is frantically shoveling billions in grants to nonprofits, making sure that the Biden administration’s climate projects stay afloat — no matter who’s in charge.
comment image%3Fwidth%3D500%26fit_mode%3Dsmartcrop%26start%3D1&w=1920&q=75Play

“Now it’s how to get the money out as fast as possible before they [Trump Administration] come in … it’s like we’re on the Titanic and we’re throwing gold bars off the edge.” – Brent Efron, EPA Advisor

Efron spoke to a Project Veritas investigative journalist about his role in doling out over $100 billion in grants to nonprofits under Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, which he dubs “Biden’s climate law.” The EPA’s website describes these grants as part of their mission to advance “environmental and climate justice.”

Efron even admits that the EPA is scrambling to push money out the door for projects originally designed for a Kamala Harris presidency.

“The thing that we haven’t funded yet are [sic] the local nonprofit program that was going to be an inter-Kamala Harris administration program… so now we’re getting it [funding] out as quick as possible. It’s like two billion at this point, we’ve got most of it out – like 90%.”

So committed are these staffers, Efron confesses, that they plan to work right up until the final moments on inauguration day, rushing to ensure that every possible tax-payer dollar is disbursed before a Republican administration can turn off the spigot.

“It’s until the Trump people come in and tell us we can no longer give out money. That’s at the very earliest the 20th [January 2025]. But it’s probably a little bit after because they have to get in the building and tell people what to do.”

Efron predicts that the Trump administration will swiftly issue an order to block all grants, with Congress potentially trying to claw back the EPA’s funding. Anticipating this, he reveals that the EPA has been working to funnel money to aligned nonprofits capable of implementing climate change policies at the local level, viewing it as an “insurance policy” against the upcoming Trump presidency.

“We gave them [nonprofits] the money because… it was an insurance policy against Trump winning. Because they aren’t [a government agency], they’re safer from Republicans taking the money away.”

Efron openly admits how the EPA uses nonprofits as a political buffer against Republican administrations—and reveals how he could later reap personal rewards with a cushy job at one of the nonprofits he helped fund during his tenure.

“Over the last year we’ve given out $50 billion dollars for climate things…so to go work for one of these places would be really cool.”

Indeed, the EPA’s website lists several pass-through nonprofits, each awarded between $50 million and $100 million, with the responsibility of distributing subgrants to other nonprofits—ensuring that Biden’s climate agenda keeps rolling, even after his presidency ends.

President-Elect Donald Trump has chosen former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), setting the stage for a dramatic shift in the nation’s environmental policy. Zeldin, a staunch ally of Trump, will be tasked with executing Trump’s energy and environmental agenda—which includes dismantling Biden’s climate initiatives and potentially slashing millions in funding tied to the Inflation Reduction Act.
Efron and his colleagues are working feverishly until the shakeup.

“We’re throwing gold bars off the Titanic. We’re getting the money out.”

Utah Senator Mike Lee responded to Project Veritas’ investigation on X stating, “The U.S. government is actively working to undermine the American people. We’ve empowered Washington to the point that it’s become dangerous and destructive. It’s too big, too expensive, and too powerful. We must return to constitutional government.”

Albanese government ‘has abandoned Israel for Greens votes’
Noah Yim
Peter Dutton says the Albanese government has “abandoned Israel” and defected from long-held bipartisanship on the issue for votes in western Sydney and Greens-heavy inner-city seats.
The Opposition Leader accused the Prime Minister of having “completely abandoned the Jewish community” after having “looked people of Jewish faith in the eye” before the election and promising a bipartisan position on the issue.
This follows the government’s UN vote for Palestinian statehood.
“There is a lot of anger, understandably, in the community at the moment at the way in which the government has sold out the Jewish community,” Mr Dutton said.
“The Prime Minister stands condemned because when you ask yourself why would the government, why would the Prime Minister, sacrifice his credibility and backflip on the commitment he gave – it’s for votes.
“The Albanese government is chasing Greens votes and they’ve been prepared to sacrifice the wellbeing of the Jewish community here in Australia to do so.
“I think Australia has had a strong bipartisan position recognised in the world at the UN and with our partners for a long period of time but that has now changed and it’s changed because the Prime Minister has abandoned Israel and abandoned other like-minded countries with a similar view to Australia because they want to achieve domestic votes here.”

Interesting involvement of Australia in the recovery of the last SpaceX flight:

1 Dec 2024 #starshiplaunch #ift5 #starship

The recovery of SpaceX’s Ship 31 (S31) from Starship Flight 6 has provided an interesting glimpse into the evolving landscape of reusable space technology. While initial expectations pointed to Booster 13 (B13) being the first vehicle recovered, recent updates have spotlighted S31 as the pioneer, marking a milestone for SpaceX’s reusability goals. This article delves into the details of the mission, the recovery process, and the implications for the future of the Starship program, drawing insights from the mission’s timeline and associated analyses.

Flight 6, launched on November 19, 2024, from SpaceX’s Boca Chica launch pad, saw S31 and B13 working together in a demonstration of the company’s reusable spacecraft systems. Powered by 33 Raptor 2 engines at full throttle, the stack’s liftoff was quicker and smoother than earlier missions, thanks to optimized engine performance. After stage separation, B13 executed a boost-back burn but was diverted to the Gulf of Mexico for a soft water landing instead of a tower catch due to last-minute anomalies in tower health checks. Meanwhile, S31 continued its mission, performing a flawless in-space relight and controlled atmospheric reentry before splashing down in the Indian Ocean. The precision of these maneuvers reflects SpaceX’s growing expertise in managing complex orbital flight systems, even as challenges remain with recovery operations.

The recovery of S31 was conducted with the help of two Australian-based vessels, Limitless and Bhagwan Renegade. These ships were pre-deployed near the anticipated landing site and monitored S31’s splashdown before initiating a 27-hour observation period. By November 23, Limitless had transported several recovered components to Exmouth Port, Australia. Among the salvaged parts were intact Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels (COPVs), which showed no visible damage, indicating their potential reusability. A significant quantity of heat shield tiles was also recovered, most notably from S31’s nose cone. These tiles, which remained remarkably intact through the spacecraft’s fiery descent, are a testament to the effectiveness of recent design changes. SpaceX’s decision to glue the tiles rather than pin them appears to have enhanced their durability, further validating the upgrades made to the vehicle.
?
Additional unidentified parts, tightly packed for transport, were also recovered and sent to Australian research facilities for preliminary examination. These components are likely to undergo detailed analysis at SpaceX’s Starbase in Texas. This data will be instrumental in refining the design and performance of future Starship prototypes. However, the ultimate goal of recovering S31 as an intact vehicle remains unfulfilled. Despite Bhagwan Renegade’s return to port equipped with towing equipment, there was no trace of S31’s main body. This suggests that either the spacecraft sustained significant damage during splashdown or logistical challenges prevented its full recovery. Even so, large segments of the vehicle, such as its nose cone, payload bay, flaps, and engine sections, may still hold salvageable value, adding to the wealth of data collected.

Michael Warner is a sports writer for the Hun. File under closing the gate after the horse has bolted:

Only the permanently outraged would have taken offence when an AFL umpire attended a private, post-season “characters of the 2000s” party in an Osama bin Laden mask.

Predictably, it triggered an investigation (and a one-match suspension) at AFL HQ where the game’s administrators have tied themselves in knots conforming to the era of identity politics, moral grandstanding and radical left ideology.

But recent world events and last year’s failed Voice referendum reflect how a growing majority have had enough of progressive lectures and the rise of divisive social agendas and their endless demands.

Persistent Welcome to Country ceremonies, Pride rounds, pre-match knee-dropping and race-baiting doesn’t unite Australians – it creates a growing level of resentment, turning us against each other.

The AFL would do well to follow other corporations in disbanding their DEI department headed by its so-called “executive general manager of inclusion and social policy”.

Football’s capture by the woke movement has always reeked of hypocrisy.

The AFL is currently defending itself vigorously against a racism class action led by Indigenous North Melbourne great Phil Krakouer. But how does that correlate with its public undertakings to believe all First Nations players?

It’s hard to espouse your private view when preaching the complete opposite

It’s like how the league waved its finger at the Hawks while releasing themselves from future liability during the botched Hawthorn racism probe.

In the year of the Voice they couldn’t bring themselves to reveal that not one but two secret reports had cleared former Hawks officials Alastair Clarkson, Chris Fagan and Jason Burt of devastating claims of racism.

The two reports went into a lead box and were buried, leaving us all to ponder whether a culture of systemic racism had indeed thrived at Hawthorn during the club’s golden premiership era of 2008-15.

Then there’s their love of the gambling dollar.

It was AFL Commission chairman Richard Goyder who pushed the clubs to reduce their dependency on poker machine revenues, only to oversee a boom in the code’s lucrative relationship with sports betting companies.

As pokies baron Bruce Mathieson put it, it’s like saying gin is bad but vodka’s good.

You can only laugh when betting odds are plastered across the AFL website alongside the Indigenous place names of match venues. The Wurundjeri Cup brought to you by Sportsbet.

When a practising Muslim AFLW player sat out the league’s annual Pride Round because the rainbow-themed uniform did not represent her faith, the league could only explain that inclusion was a complicated matter.

Complicated like how one club pockets massive sponsorship dollars from the state-owned airline of Qatar, where homosexuality is banned and openly gay men and women face dire consequences, while its players slip on rainbow socks in matches.

Remember the furore when six Manly rugby league players from the Pacific Islands refused to wear a pride jersey on religious grounds? They were heavily condemned, so why not the Muslim AFLW player?

Rampant illicit drug-use is also tolerated within football, where some AFL club doctors conducted secret match-eve tests to ensure cocaine-addled stars don’t risk suspension under the world anti-doping code. So drugs are in, but poor taste costumes are out.

And what about the devastating scourge of concussion?

The league’s very own head-knocks tsar was exposed in an international plagiarism scandal, while in coronial inquests and concussion court cases the AFL plays hard ball to minimise its liability from suicides and debilitating brain injury, which would be fair enough if they didn’t carry on about how compassionate they are to everyone else who suffers in society.

The rules of wokeism don’t allow for debate (or even the views in this column), but a growing number of fair-minded Australians know that the nation’s biggest sport has been an active participant in the overreach of the DEI age.

Lol had the misfortune of watching the ladies grand final just gone. Old mate ‘Uncle’ Somekhunt again doing what he’s done many times before for the leagues. Must be on a good wicket.
Also went to watch Bulldogs and Brisbane at Marvel. Had the ludicrous vision of the great Bontempelli with some war paint shite on welcoming us to Naarn, or however you say it.
And morons, inclusion isn’t hard. It’s everyone with their own beliefs or its nothing. Just get on with it fer phuck sake

Not sure GR. Atrocities committed in WW2 by Germans and Japanese were largely motivated by ideology. The war ends, the ideologies of national superiority crushed, and they became like everyone else. A notable example is the most celebrated Zen Buddhist scholar D.T. Suzuki, who, upon hearing about the atrocities committed in China, put it down to karmic processes. That was true of other noted Zen scholars. Islam is the poison that perhaps can be said to make people psychopathological, but I prefer to view it as an excuse for committing atrocities. I don’t understand why people can be so vicious but it is certainly more than ideas. With furious arm waving blah blah blah cue pseudo-scientific neuroscience and developmental psychology.

Some of us are very aware of the problem and the insanity of Islam.
Unfortunately there is no open season on this species of the human race, so we have to le them be. At least until a critical level of us decide the time to do something about it is here.
Unfortunately, the death toll up to that point is going to be horrendous. Unless, of course, it includes those who demand there is no danger from the insanity – in which case it will be a merciful end to such people who are so confused and irrational that they’d allow a lion to babysit their children.

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/education/naplan-2024-return-to-oldschool-teaching-methods-sends-students-results-through-roof/news-story/e54bd235e5fda516641b7e0915bc8f33

An old-school teaching method known as explicit instruction has lifted student performance in this year’s NAPLAN tests of literacy and numeracy – SEE THE LIST of schools making a difference

NATASHA BITA

A Catholic school cluster has shot to success in this year’s NAPLAN results, after abandoning failed teaching fads through the nation’s biggest experiment in the science of learning.

A return to the old-school teaching style of “direct instruction’’ has delivered academic dividends for 23,000 students at 56 Catholic schools in the ACT and Goulburn, based on the NAPLAN) results for 9629 schools to be made public on Wednesday.

The Catholic schools make up 13 of the 20 schools flagged by the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority as “making a difference’’ in the ACT.

Just a quarter of schools in the ACT are Catholic, yet they make up two-thirds of ACARA’s list of schools that out-performed others with a similar background of parental occupation and education.

For years the Catholic schools had underperformed – until the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn embraced direct instruction, also known as “explicit teaching’’, through the Catalyst project in 2020.

Four years later, the schools have caught up to deliver their best-ever NAPLAN results.

Mr Fox said teachers were saving five hours a week in lesson preparation because the Catalyst program provides high-quality lesson plans and “commonsense curriculum materials” used in all classrooms.

The Catalyst program is based on the scientific concept of “cognitive load theory’’, to ensure new information is embedded in students’ long-term memory. Students are not overwhelmed with new information, and are given time to practise and repeat concepts until they’ve mastered them.

Teachers direct and closely monitor students’ learning – a reversal of the failed fad of “student-directed learning’’ that expected students to “lead their own learning journey’’.

Catalyst was designed by Knowledge Society, which is also working on explicit instruction techniques with 26 Catholic schools in the Geelong region, 51 schools in the Sandhurst Diocese in Victoria, and 20 public schools in Western Australia.

After five years of committed change, the results are in. So, what happened? The data released by ACARA this week shows 13 out of the top 20 performing schools in the ACT are Catholic schools. Given that the Catholic system accounts for 20 per cent of ACT schools, having 65 per cent of the top performing schools represents a clear demonstration that the Catalyst program has delivered results.

I’m waiting for an all-out attack on NAPLAN, surely this is all their fault!! Once upon a time. I loved NAPLAN because as a parent I could identify where help was needed, but for many years the media attacked NAPLAN as the cause of all student’s failures.
So pleased we have decent results to show up the incompetent.

It is hard to believe, as the decades slip by, but it is over five decades (at least) since Australian Teachers’ Colleges abandoned “teacher-directed” teaching in favour of “student-directed” learning. I recall the dismay I felt when my grandchildren began school.

Grandparents’ Day revealed the full catastrophe. Little ones sitting around a central table teaching each other as the “teacher” ….”facilitated” learning. No text books even as they progressed into the final years of “primary” learning.

Granddaughter had no trouble, as she is quite a brilliant student. But grandson struggled. Yet no remedial learning available in the public system at that time.

Apparently a number of the blokes became very agitated about holding it at The Regatta after the Australia Day ban nonense.

Tyron Smith: Man accused of machete-armed home invasion dies in hospitalCaleb Runciman and Tegan GuthrieThe West Australian
Wed, 4 December 2024 12:45PM

A 20-year-old man police accused of entering a Boulder property armed with a machete has died in hospital days after a violent altercation with the homeowner.
The family of Tyron Smith spoke to media on Wednesday, where they called for full transparency from WA Police over his death.
In a statement released at the weekend, police said the incident unfolded about 10.15am on Friday when the 20-year-old entered a property on Kenneally Place, Boulder.

It is understood police have been treating the incident as a home invasion where Mr Smith was accused of brandishing a machete-like weapon while wearing a balaclava.
A man living at the home, whose wife and child were also present at the time, confronted Mr Smith and an altercation broke out.
Mr Smith suffered serious injuries in the altercation while the homeowner suffered an arm injury and lacerations to his hands that required hospital treatment.
“Police got to this address and went in and did CPR, brought my son’s heart back,” his mother Kathleen O’Loughlin told reporters.
Mr Smith was conveyed to Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital before being flown to Royal Perth Hospital’s intensive care unit.
Police confirmed he has since died in hospital.

His family are “calling for calm from the First Nations community.”

Dover, you really need to get off Russian Bot Central and take a clear-eyed look at the situation. The Ukraine war will end because the Trump administration will instruct President 87% and Ukraine that it will end. This war is essentially a stalemate for all intents and purposes. Suggesting that 87% has the upper hand is pure delusion.
According to The Oz, approximately 40% of Russian government spending is going toward the war effort. The cost of living has increased by 25% since the war began, and the Russian central bank rate is sitting at 21% in an attempt to prop up the rubble. This has pushed lending and mortgage rates to a staggering 28%, with another central bank hike expected in January. The rubble has taken a beating and will likely continue to do so. Many businesses in Russia are on variable-rate loans, meaning they could soon face interest rates nearing 30%. Labor is, unsurprisingly, in short supply for obvious reasons. 🙂
If the Trump administration demands a ceasefire, it will happen.

Then there’s Iran. If the hostages aren’t released, Iran is going to get hit harder than Tyson in his prime.

Like the millions of communist zealots before him, Australian treasurer Jim Chalmers’ only achievement is to have increased government spending — from 22% to 28% of GDP, fuelling inflation and the pain on households with mortgages in the outer suburbs.

PS: government spending doesn’t facilitate economic growth; it consumes economic growth, which comes only from wealth creation in the private sector.

To the contrary, I’m looking at this with better than 20/20 vision.

You’re going to start predicting Lotto numbers with this better than 20/20 vision?

The economic situation, real or imagined, is secondary to the political and security situation should Putin agree to a ceasefire.

There’s nothing imagined about the economic situation in Russia. 28% lending rates and the tanked rubble says it all. It’s real.

Trump doesn’t add much to the present situation because it’s already very serious. The US is already escalating in Syria even though Biden is a lameduck. I think the Russian response will give us some idea of how receptive they’ll be to shit sandwiches served by Trump.

Why so pessimistic?

Iran doesn’t have any decisive say in what happens to the hostages although the US may use that excuse to strike Iran. This would be even more the case if Syria fell.

According to Trump they do, and that’s all that counts. Iran armed the proxies and Iran will be blamed if they aren’t released. It doesn’t matter what you think. All that matters is who Trump thinks is to blame. That’s Iran.

Broadly, of course.

It’s not so much ‘dictator friendly’ as dislike of the Regime.

You can dislike both. But, at least in the US, there’s some hope—and it’s likely the listing ship can right itself. However, if disliking regimes is your thing, what would you call the governments running those countries you seem to have developed a soft spot for

Russia? Other than the short decade of the 90s there’s been an authoritarian regime since 1917.

Iran? The mullahs since the late 70s.

Syria? Since early 70s, Arab Ba’ath Socialist Party

North Korea? Late 40s communist.

China? Same late 40s.

If you dislike regimes, these have been going for a while.

One source said Graham, who has never found a war he didn’t want other people to fight, spent the weekend crying to Trump about Hegseth, while Ernst has been running an inside-the-beltway campaign to knife Hegseth.

Sources say the WSJ article touting DeSantis is a key part of the Ernst/Graham operation to torpedo Hegseth because of his foreign policy views and opposition to endless, pointless wars.

Welcome to (a different) country news (the Hun):

Australian grandmother

It still mystifies me why the papers continue to use these brands, as though ‘grandmother’ implies a good old Nanna, knitting stuff for her grandkids with a blanket over her knees instead of being a stray-pipe merchant whose inclinations were passed down to her own offspring.

Donna Nelson has been sentenced to six years in jail after being found guilty of importing two kilograms of methamphetamine into Japan.

Authorities alleged she imported about 1.9kg of an illegal drug in her luggage, but she alleged she was the victim of a romance scam and unwittingly carried the drugs.

That old chestnut.

She picked up the travel bag during a three-day stop in Laos, claiming she had been tricked into believing it was a sample case an online love interest needed for his fashion business in Japan.

‘Hey baby, just stop over in Laos and pick up this package for me, and then come to Japan.’ Righto. The bloke she apparently hooked up with online and went to the other side of the world to see is called (apparently) Kelly:

Kelly bought a flight for Ms Nelson to Japan, which included the Laos stopover. At this point, Nelson moved her belongings into a new bag, telling the court she did not want to manage two bags during her trip.

Uh huh.

The court ruled Ms Nelson ignored red flags about Kelly and she also failed to declare the bag was not hers, the ABC reports.

Instead, she stated her reasons for the visit were “business”, not personal.

Enjoy your six years, toots.

Ms Nelson, a former Greens candidate

Ahhhhh.

and Indigenous community leader, has been in custody since she was arrested at Narita International Airport in January 2023.

She must think the authorities were born yesterday.

Her excuses were old when Moses was a boy.

Yep – been getting free passes in Australia since forever on account of her political/tribal choices – assumed the Japanese would be impressed, too.
Most amusing.

It also seems like there’s a Russian angle here.
Take the events in Syria, for instance. You’re notably soft on the Ba’ath regime while overtly hostile toward Islamist groups. Yet, you appear sympathetic to the Islamic regime in Iran—a government notorious for its habit of murdering women who fail to meet its clothing standards. This suggests that Islamism, in itself, doesn’t bother you all that much. It seems, instead, to hinge on the Russian connection.

Do they oil baseball bats?

A winsome young lass on twitter recommends putting a sock over the business end of the bat. Apparently when you clock someone with it they can’t get a good grip on it as you rewind for a second swing.

Nice trick of the trade. I once witnessed how efficient a rolled up Sun Pictorial and plastic Bic? biro can be. On a metro train in Melbourne.

Any of the bush lawyers on this blog help out?

Young rooster in this town describes himself as ” a former veteran.”

Umm, you’ve either pulled on a pair of boots G.P., and picked up a rifle, or you haven’t?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Note to Dumbocrats:
People voted for Republicans in spite of the Cheneys, not because of them.
People voted (net) for Kennedys despite them being democrats, not because of it.
You should have run from the Cheneys and towards the Kennedy.
Dumbarses.

Has “veteran” replaced “returned serviceman” in common oz parlance?
Shame if it has- not all ex-armed forces are old, as the word implies, or in the other direction which the word nods to, not all de-mobbed have seen active combat, even if they are old.

Veteran for DVA purposes now apparently means 1 days service in the ADF.

Probably why it’s being fudged a little.

I always understood veteran & returned serviceman as interchangeable for someone who has returned from war or peacekeeping.
