In about five years they will. Ten maybe
China is turning into the world’s largest old people’s home.

Why should the ccp care? They’ll make it easier for the oldies to die off quickly. Help them do it cheaply. And there will always be some youngsters and babies.

Their demographics suggest otherwise.

I don’t really think that’s relevant to the long term plan. It’s not as if China will become a nation of a billion octogenarians.

100 million military age men/women. 200 million. 300 million. With vast economic clout and manufacturing base to match – much of which is either produced for the West (and others) or is copied.

Coupled with new alliances such as BRICS and others, whilst bullying smaller nations. The West will always be one alliance whilst the East is forging ahead with another and then there is India and parts of Africa and the ME. Today we would say that most of South America is a basket case – but in 50 years? China is developing a foot in all camps and their modus operandi is a mix of coercion, ideology matching, spying, infiltration or money.

But most of all, this is a long term game. Adjustments will occur from time to time and ‘bumps in the road’ will happen, but the overall pathway and goal is unwavering.

Top Ender.
Do you know of anyone in Canberra who would be willing to visit the National Archives office there and copy a list of specific files for me please? I would be willing to pay them for their time and any reasonable expenses. I will also be specific about the folders or files required.

I’m not yet ready (I need to save my small change for a little longer), but am seeking an idea of whether the project I have in mind will be viable or not.

Cheers.

Saw it Megan and all the small businesses wiped out Bulleen rd before turning on to Manningham rd, so much so I missed the lights and ended up heading towards Templestowe before doing a u turn near the Yarra Club also closed. They’ve also assumed some of the Simpson Barracks training areas, DoD should have told Dan to go jump!

Guess overpaid sinecures for the CMFEU maaatttes trumps all hey. I did some research before and discovered there was a different route to the east of this one that didn’t make the cut and may still be needed. Eastern Fwy apparently going to 20 lanes where it merges. Short of assuming a whole lot more land I am miffed how it can be achieved and will be probably ugly to navigate.

In the end DEI is very destructive to the very people it purports to be helping.

DEI is affirmative action for blockheads. All the evidence suggests it has been working well. Lots of blockheads are now in positions of power.

These very same blockheads are now demonstrating to all and sundry why the DEI must die.

For about 35 years the communists enforced a one child policy and now that is coming back to bite them. Uh huh. The key word here is: communist. They can mandate whatever they like. Offer money/glory/housing for those who have three or more children. Threaten dire social credit scores for those who refuse to comply. Restrict work opportunities, ban OS travel, send your family to the far west unless you do the right thing and breed.

As communists, there are plenty of levers to pull. Don’t think like an Australian – think like a communist dictator.

Influence. A growing or a stable population can mean a healthy and stable economy, which is important if you want to ensure your nation carries weight in the world. Japan in the 80s was the second largest economy in the world. they had some influence, albeit not as raucous as the Chinese. A country of old geezers loses dynamism, and China is fast becoming the largest nursing home in the world.

Chinese citizens are losing a fortune on the real estate market. China is now aiming for food independence. It has sequestered agricultural land for future use and is encouraging young people to return to the country and grow stuff. Good luck with that, hasn’t worked anywhere else.

Japanese and South Korean, women across the world, are losing interest in being stuck at home. That’s typical of human nature, when a person is exposed to a lifestyle that offers so much(career, money, travel, entertainment), asking them to give that up, even if the alternative is a biological imperative, is somewhat optimistic. It is an example of human behavior that I find so strange, the ability to transcend the most biological imperative of a species. Our frontal lobes will be our extinction.

More importantly, Japan reached a standard of living where, even though the population is falling and doing so quite dramatically,  the country is wealthy enough on a per capita basis to take care of its elderly by drawing down savings.

The Chinese population is not wealthy enough to emulate Japan and especially so with the old geezer avalanche coming at them.

Per capita incomes

Japan: 44,570 PPP dollars
China: 19,160 PPP dollars

China is now getting close to peaking and reaching the stage where GDP growth becomes minuscule to negative, like Japan.

The one child policy was relatively easy to control. If a woman was found to be pregnant a second time around, she’d be forced to have an abortion and that was the end of it. Third time, the same.

You can’t force people to have kids as it would turn out to be impossible to implement for the reasons you suggest.

Dover, you’d think the train lines would be one of the first things taken out.

Have a look at a map of Russia and its rail transport network and get back to me.

Stalin said after the war this ability to shift 50 Divisions from the High Command reserves 2000km over the rail network north to south and back again was key to the Russian ability to outnumber and overwhelm Germany at various parts of the front.
Many Russian wartime railways were temporary – laid on sleepers directly on the ground. No ballast required or used. The trains were slow, but they kept the fronts supplied.

Hollyweird always essays preposterous scenarios where imaginary non-collectivist societies exploit the wombs of womanages to portray whatever staggeringly stupid ideas might have passed fleetingly through the former’s cavernous empty skulls.

As for good ol’ china, the “one child policy” has produced outcomes that are not exactly ideal, as even Greg “green as envy and existing in a garbage bin” Sheridini could hysterically allege.

You want a “handmaids tale”, Hollyweirdos?

Stalin said after the war this ability to shift 50 Divisions from the High Command reserves 2000km over the rail network north to south and back again was key to the Russian ability to outnumber and overwhelm Germany at various parts of the front.

The Soviet Union produced just 446 locomotives during the war, with only 92 of those being built between 1942 and 1945. In total, 92.7% of the wartime supply of railroad equipment by the USSR was provided by the US through Lend-Lease. including 1,911 locomotives and 11,225 railcars.

Higgins’ claims in $2.4m payout contradicted by her own evidence: lawyers

By stephen rice
NSW Editor
5:56PM March 1, 2024

Brittany Higgins made 11 separate representations about her alleged rape in her $2.4m settlement with the commonwealth which were either false or contradicted by her own evidence in the defamation case brought by Bruce Lehrmann, his lawyers have claimed.

In newly released submissions by the parties to the case, Mr Lehrmann’s lawyers set out a detailed comparison of the claims Ms Higgins made in the Commonwealth deed, signed in December 2022, with her evidence in the still-to-be-decided defamation case.

The Albanese government paid Ms Higgins $2.445m in a settlement that relied entirely on her version of events, after a single-day mediation that excluded evidence from her former boss, then defence industry minister Linda Reynolds.

Earlier this year, The Australian revealed that the National Anti-Corruption Commission was examining a complaint by Senator Reynolds against Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus over his handling of the Higgins settlement, to determine if an investigation should be launched.

Among the claims made by Ms Higgins in the settlement deed, but disputed in a submission by Mr Lehrmann’s legal team, led by Steven Whybrow SC:

– that Mr Lehrmann got into Ms Higgins’ taxi on the night of the alleged rape without her agreement (she testified she had agreed);

– that he directed the cab to stop at Parliament House without her agreement (she gave evidence that she “just went along with it”);

– that he directed her to get out of the cab (she testified that “I don’t know why, but when it stopped I got out too”);

– that they didn’t speak on the Monday afterwards (they had coffee and exchanged emails).

Mr Lehrmann’s lawyers also point to claims made in the deed which have been strongly disputed in evidence, including that Ms Higgins told Senator Reynolds’ then chief of staff Fiona Brown that he had sexually assaulted her, an allegation always vehemently denied by Ms Brown.

They also pointed to a claim by Ms Higgins that on 11 April 2019, Ms Brown said it was Ms Higgins’ problem to deal with the issue of sick leave for her mental health and also needing time off work to assist the AFP in its investigation.

By that date Ms Brown was no longer an active Chief of Staff, Mr Lehrmann’s lawyers noted, “let alone the unbelievable aspect of the supposed response to such a request for help with sick leave due to mental health issues”.

Ms Higgins’ evidence in the defamation case was that by 3 April 2019, Ms Brown “just disappeared …she left” and that by 5 April 2019 she had “stopped being our acting chief of staff”.

In the Deed, Ms Higgins claimed that: “Ms Brown made it clear by her words and demeanour that the events of 22/23 March 2019 must be put to one side; that (Ms Higgins) ought remain silent about the sexual assault, in order to keep her job/career”.

In the defamation case, Ms Higgins struggled to answer questions from Justice Michael Lee about anything Ms Brown had said, as opposed to what Ms Higgins “felt”, that indicated she should be silent about the alleged rape.

The settlement deed also stated that Senator Reynolds had not engaged with Ms Higgins at all during the election campaign. “She avoided (Ms Higgins) and made clear that she did not want (Ms Higgins) attending events with her,” the settlement deed stated.

In fact, Ms Higgins was photographed seated next to Senator Reynolds during the election.

Giving evidence at the defamation trial, Ms Higgins said she was “accidentally” seated next to the Minister because she was one of the last to arrive.

In response, Ten’s lawyers said that any suggestion that Ms Higgins had a financial motive for the rape allegations was “incoherent” when she had made the complaint years before the settlement and that the complaint against the Commonwealth dealt not with the rape itself but the way it had been handled.

“To the extent that there might be matters in the deed with the Commonwealth that are objectively wrong or inconsistent with factual findings that are made in this proceeding, those are not matters bearing on the central fact that Court must decide,” Ten submitted.

“Strikingly, the allegation of rape in the deed is entirely consistent with all other accounts that Ms Higgins has given of that event,” Ten said.

Mr Lehrmann’s team conceded that his evidence “was in a number of respects unsatisfactory, and it would be open to the Court to form an adverse view of his credit” but rejected claims that he was “a compulsive liar”.

Mr Lehrmann’s lawyers also accepted that it was open to Justice Lee to make adverse findings about some of his conduct, and that those would be relevant to assessing the real damage caused to his reputation.

As to his claim that he went back to Parliament House that night to work on Question Time briefs, it “might appear implausible, (but) does not for that reason alone, render it untrue or fantastic or that of a fantasist.”

Mr Lehrmann’s evidence about the number of drinks he bought Higgins at the Dock bar was wrong, they conceded, but so too was the evidence of other witnesses that night , who all “had no reason to retain minute details of this night and it is unrealistic to expect anyone to do so, almost 2 years later.”

Western allied “aid” to the soviet union in WW2 was a war crime, as far as I’m concerned.

The western allies (being staggeringly stupid, again) should have sat back and watched those two totalitarian states tear each other to pieces.

Stalin was jointly responsible for WW2 in Europe. His cowardice and expediency enabled the germans to overrun most of western Europe in 1940.

The one child policy was relatively easy to control. If a woman was found to be pregnant a second time around, she’d be forced to have an abortion and that was the end of it. Third time, the same. You can’t force people to have kids as it would turn out to be impossible to implement…..

Bless your cotton socks.

For the reasons I laid out upthread. To repeat: The key word here is communist.

JC – imagine this. You are the supreme lord of all you survey. Literally the power of life and death. You deign to allow some free choice in some matters but ultimately, you can force people to live and work when and where you tell them. You can control their movements in country, and forbid them to leave. A word from you and parents/grandparents can be whisked away. You can seize or grant property. You control the police, the military, the courts of law and the bureaucracy of government. All of your minions are solidly in line behind you. You brook no opposition. Your word can be, literally, law.

But, you notice all is not well with your nation’s demographics. Breed you command and feed/educate all your children. In your magnificence, you offer a reward for those who comply. Think of the power you have over recalcitrants. Make an example of the first few and the others will fall into line.

The Cat is like a pub

it’s the shitty carpet
the smell of toilet lollies wafting through from the dunnies
and the sound of pokies from the other room

bad music on Saturday nights
bar stool philosophy
and sports-ball on TV with the sound turned down

deep fried schnitzel with chips
and empty kegs left in the street next morning
opens at 11 am

Cats, this is what we like to see and hear in our beloved rowdy public bar – Eddles, as I overheard him in the other bar, on the Dunkley Bye election:

I’m predicting 16%, Albo gone by Easter, and a May election

16%? Bring it on!

As for Eddles’ crystal ball allegedly being “faulty”, tune in this time tomorrow evening, Cats.

not one of those tile clad leagues clubs in NSW that’s more like a fish-bowl or a swimming pool

I’m fondly recalling memories of our favorite below street level Melbourne bars of years past

One hates Trump, I really rate Trump. He hates Dutton, I think Dutton has possibilities. He hates Albo, so we are 100% there. Husband drew a nice cartoon of dreadful politicians gathered in the same room.

Tom would like it, but old boy won’t let me share. (His cartoons are known in the Black And White Artists Society,)

Some do. There’s various reasons why. They’re a real bastard after a few years, rotting base being the main problem.

In addition to anything else, they’re a real bastard to get blood out of, particularly if there’s a few litres of it gone into the carpet & been there for 12 hours or more.

I’m sure I’ve drank in pubs where the floor is carpet, just that I don’t recall any of late.

But the USSR didn’t control alcoholism, Putin hasn’t controlled corruption, many regimes can’t improve quality control or creativity, China hasn’t controlled real estate stupidity and it is too late to fix much of that damage. The West has implemented many measures to boost breeding but without success. Behavior is malleable but let’s not commit the behaviorist error of thinking behavior always modifiable through inter-response intervals, aversion training, positive and negative reinforcement and whatever else magic tools they claim to have(most behaviorists never thought that) . If what you say is possible a great many social problems would be controlled. Make an example of a few and the rest learn better how not to get caught.

Matrix: There’s pubs aplenty on TV & in movies in Australia. Many of these scenes are shot inside actual pubs.

The only depiction I recall of a pub/pubs where the TV made it feel like a pub, was the series Stingers (1998-2004) a cops & robbers type show set in Melbourne.
The pub scenes in that show are the only ones I’ve ever seen that felt fair dinkum, instead of a carboard cut-out or a faked movie set.

Do ships these days still use Bunker Oil or Diesel?
Doesn’t Bunker oil have to be heated before it can flow to the engine?

Not an expert, but unless they are using coal, sails or electric, some kind of liquid fuel seems essential.

Bunker oil might (again I don’t know) to be head, but in the climate of the Red Sea, would probably seep into the holds if there are leaks in the fuel lines.

In either case, wise men might be a little careful approaching a potential bomb, even for a good salvage price.
