Thank you Mater.
We now live in an uber feminised society where men, boys and masculinity are routinely mocked, demeaned, smeared and sidelined. We need men desperately.
“What does it take to be a man?
What does it take to see
It’s all heart and soul
A gentle hand
So easy to want and so hard to give
How can you be a man
‘Til you see beyond the life you live?
Oh, what does it take to be a man?
We can be blind, but a man tries to see
It takes tenderness
For a man to be what he can be
And what does it mean
If you’re weak or strong?
A gentle feelin’
can make it right or make it wrong
What does it take to be a man?
The will to give and not receive
The strength to say what you believe
The heart to feel what others feel inside
To see what they can see
A man is somethin’ that’s real
It’s not what you are
It’s what you can feel
It can’t be too late
To look through the hate and see
I know that’s what a man can be
We need men more than ever.
I love men.
Yeah I am a November refusenik too.
I won’t be a man when some HR bint permits me to be masculine.
Why, soyciety
Brave Covid Warrior Man

It also sickens me that whilst there is a literal bias towards funding women’s cancer research, we can LARP for a month and make it go away.
A lot of men’s live could have already been saved if Abiraterone had its approval sped up. A shame there was no pandemic.
…men’s lives…
Damn iPad!
He’s correct, just not in the way he thinks he is.
Some are going to need help finding that focus on growing a set you’re talking about, Mater.
Exhibit A: Barnaby Jellyback over the weekend: “They need a fund that actually inspires the new businesses that are going to employ people to start up.”
WTF? Apparently Morrison’s ‘new energy transition’ is a reprise of the terminally useless Industry Policy of the ALP of old.
The Moral Obligation to Be Intelligent is the title of a collection of essays written by the American literary critic and teacher, Lionel Trilling. The phrase is not his but it exemplifies his work. The High Court recently quoted J. S. Mill, with approbation, on “the entire moral courage of the human mind”. Today, among those who ought to know better, we see only betrayal.
Especially when the definition of being masculine includes only the ability to grow a moustache.
At the tail end of the comments on my Kokoda thread, I posted the details – and a link to a photo – of a REAL man: John Arthur Merson, who spent 3 WEEKS crawling through the jungle on his hands and knees, so as not to burden any of his mates.
I kid you not: three weeks.
With a bullet in one ankle, little or no food, and not knowing exactly where they were, he literally CRAWLED for 21 days. At the end of which he died.
Note to self: Next time you’re whining about some trivial, transient issue, Muddy, say the name METSON out loud & give yourself a smack in the face with a garden tool.
Sorry, J.A. METSON, not Merson.
Incels are weird and another liability. But they did expose feminist greatest fear.
Blokes that are not willing to play the game enymore.
They’ll get my mo from my cold dead upper lip.
If I were younger, hale and healthy I wouldn’t put up with any of this shit.
I’m fact I still push back when and where I can.
Younger people? Vaxxies, Quislings and sheep.
If I have to be the last pure blood standing it will just mean there is nothing for the plebeian to live floor..
You’re absolutely right, Bespoke. Case in point – the men who didn’t intervene when a woman was being raped on a subway train recently.
As they say, careful what you wish for because…
My younger son is currently searching out a doctor who will take his concerns seriously. At 20 years old, he is in exactly the cohort most affected by negative effects on the heart. He had cardiomyopathy as a child – an atrial septal defect, superventricular tachycardia, almost a week in ICU at the age of three weeks, medicated for over a year. He is fully vaxxed up to this point.
Not one of the doctors he has seen will grant an exemption so he can get Novavax or Corvax. That is all he is asking for. But no.
As an aside, I was dismayed when Sinc wrapped up the other blog. When I found this site, it literally felt like rediscovering my friends. Although you are all just names, you have a place in my life I value, even if some get a little cranky at times. I have received such wisdom, encouragement and knowledge from you all.
Except Monty. He just made me feel sorry for him. And that Numbers fellow was a dick.
Destroying the economy?
I’m sure this is nothing to worry about …
Australia’s central bank loses yield control as bonds melt down
“Australia’s central bank on Friday lost all control of the yield target key to its stimulus policy as bonds suffered their biggest shellacking in decades and markets howled for rate hikes as soon as April.”

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
–Kipling
Matrix,
That’s exactly what I come here for. Thank you.
For how can man die better,
Than facing fearsome odds.
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods….
Muddy’s example is a classic.
As a young-un I had the privilege of knowing two gentlemen who had been on active service in both world wars. You go through WW1 on the Western Front, then line up for a second go-around and you’ve got to know what you are fighting for.

Mark M:
I saw that a week or so ago and asked for a talk about it, but perhaps people were a bit nervous about the subject.
Two really good things today.
1. Metson. I will remember that for life. Thx Muddy.
2. I backed Verry Eleegant. My first ever M Cup winner.

For how can man die better,
Than facing fearsome odds.
For the ashes of his fathers,
And the temples of his gods….
And, from the same poem, when we feel that we’re an embattled minority…
On yon strait way a thousand
Could well be stopped by three
Now who will stand on either hand
And hold the bridge with me?
At the risk of derailing the thread, we had one of those in the U.S. – former President Donald Trump – but he was mistaken for a leader, rather than a berserker (in the sense of Scandinavian myth). As a result, everyone decided they could sit back and watch the world be saved single-handedly, but with no-one on either his right side or left side, he was overwhelmed.
Have we learned anything, or is learning for others?
