Saw Scummoron at the Press Club when we stopped for lunch at a pub on the way back from the coast. No one in the bar believed a single word he said

Yep. When they stop even listening to you it’s too late to pull out of the death spiral.

Bern, It came through Pinterest, so beggars can’t be choosy. I don’t really think a flat roof is a good idea in the cooler climes in the US as the weight of the snow would bring the entire thing down

The real shocking thing is the cost in AUD to buy that home here or in the US.

Outside of a few cities, it could be up to half the cost on the USA.

More privilege,
Spent 6 years hard at an institution.
Cold burgoo in the morning.
That was the highlight of the day.
Bromide in the tea. Well that didn’t work.
Most of my fellow inmates were ghastly.
Beatings were frequent.
I don’t think people are allowed to do that sort of thing now.

Kelly Hoare, Miltonf, is one of the many beneficiaries of that venerable Newcastle Labor tradition of inheriting the family seat. IIRC, she regularly topped the press gallery’s poll for the most useless federal MP. My sources in Newcastle say there was a bit of wounded local pride when head office dumped her for Greg Connect, but it didn’t last long when they saw the benefits of having a competent local member.

Hairy and I spend every Boxing Day with my rellies in Nowra.
They are salt of the Aussie earth. Living the dream in a project home.
Caravan, car, boat, dog, cat and three great teenage kids.
I am their Great Aunt. All my brother’s kids and their families.

Currently I am feeling a bit crook, sore arm, Hairy trying to explain something to me on a map and I simply cannot pay attention to it. Brain fog setting in. He thinks it serves me right for fighting on Catallaxy all day, but I say I wasn’t fit to do anything else. Anyway, it started this morning, before the Chicken Pox attenuated jab got into my brain. I wish she hadn’t drawn blood with the jab.

Give it to them now, otherwise you’ll have to sell it when you go into a nursing home.

Not bloody likely, Cohenite! Nursing home? Good grief!

I have pretty good genes. Mum & day stayed in their family home until the day each died. Mum pretty much chain smoked from late teens to when she died at 84 – & not of lung cancer! Dad, who obviously was a passive smoker in the house all those years lived till 91 & I think died of loneliness after she had gone. He lasted only a year after her death. He reckoned X-rays showed “a shadow” on his lung for a long time, but never diagnosed with lung cancer.

Mum had virtually no regular exercise after she contracted Ross River fever in her 60s. Was bedridden for a couple of years. Dad, on the other hand, walked for an hour a day from the day he retired. They both ate healthy food and were teetotallers all their life.

The harassment of the Jews started in WA yesterday. They are banned from the following:

All hospitality venues, food and licensed venues:
including restaurants, dine-in fast food, cafés, bars, pubs, clubs, taverns, licensed commercial boats
excluding food and non-alcoholic beverage takeaway; food courts; roadhouses, and petrol stations
excluding a vessel providing ticketed public transport such as a ferry service to Rottnest Island
Nightclubs
Bottle shops (including drive through bottle shops)
Specified entertainment venues including
a casino
gaming or gambling house
specified galleries and museums,
a cinema, including a drive-in cinema or outdoor cinema
a theatre
a concert hall or other live music venue
Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
a major stadium
a gym, indoor sporting centre, health club, or dance studio (including a centre offering yoga, barre, pilates, aerobics, dancing, spin facilities or other fitness class), except when community sport is being played
an indoor play centre
an amusement park which was ticketed/managed entry
Perth Zoo
any other indoor entertainment venue that is open to the public and not otherwise referred to above
residential aged care and hospitals (exceptions apply).
Indoor events with over 500 patrons, specified outdoor high-risk events (as designated by the State Emergency Coordinator or the Chief Health Officer or their authorised personnel) and outdoor music events with more than 500 patrons.

February 1, 2022 9:21 pm

Hey Struth,
How are you?
What’s new?
You’re like the prodigal son.

And Hello BoN.
I’m fine, hope you are all well.

I’ve got a bit going on up here fighting and we haven’t lost yet.
I must admit in getting a bit tired , because as you know, I’ve been fighting this bullshit from the start, so now around me people are waking up and getting angry. So they are just starting to fight. No matter what, the worst is over for people like me. Even if they put me in a camp, …. because we are no longer screaming into an empty void of lost souls and propaganda victims. So the recently angry are energising me and rallies and protests are happening. Schools can’t resume up here due to lack of teachers. 90% jabbed, my hairy arse. So much going on. I don’t come here very often at the moment because there is no fight, no real reason to..
You’ve all worked it out and taken your positions. ….. Either like minds or those who have submitted and don’t want to know or talk about it anymore.
Everyone’s taken their positions, and those that are going to endlessly jab themselves to death have heard all the arguments against doing so.
Time and again.
It’s not the gibbering mess of covid fear it was for over a year and a half, and those being honest will admit that it was.

I save things over on the furniture shop and get stuck in on twitter and facebook and facebook groups, and also with new friends here in the real world, although I am not sure how much longer the Furniture shop will be there, because I fear we may have lost NFA, who set it up. A good man who did something when needed and most used it when the old cat went down, which is why he started it.
I do my occassional word walls over there were people can decide whether to read them or not.
I do feel I owe NFA to keep it running in case he is not dead, as I have limited admin powers, like getting rid of bird.
I think that’s the main reason I post there.
Just in case he is still alive in the Philipines.

My convoy was only small compared to the Canadians who are showing us how it’s done.
But I still remember the people cheering us on, on the sides of the roads.
There are very many parallels.
Media reactions, etc.
I may be wrong but I don’t think they’ll get Trudeau out.
He is a WEF plant, basically, as Klaus admits, ….”brags” might be a better word, and so he won’t be allowed to step down, this is a war, but the convoy will ultimately and has already been a success.
It depends on your definition of success. Saving the entire world from the tyranny of the Davos monsters, highly unlikely, but inspiring people and giving them confidence to fight, most definitely.
They won when they moved off and the first people cheered them on. It will probably all turn to shit but they have still won.
They have inspired similar protests world wide.
Bloody Australia doesn’t have any owner drivers left to speak of, so it wasn’t going to big here, and many of the trucks I saw were club plated.
The goal has to be to get the silent majority noisy.

A good word for Nowra. The young ones serving in shops are great, happy kids, they actually talk to you and don’t grunt. The fresh fish and meat market and the vege/deli is one of the best anywhere. Corner of Princes Hwy and Moss Street. The fish and meat market has so many differing varieties you could have something different every day for a year at least. The quality at both is amazing.

After I retired early last year, I’ve was playing Bridge in a club regularly until the June lockdown. Even though the government has lifted the vax requirement I still can’t go back because the club itself is insisting on people being “double vaxxed”.

Today I got a glimpse of why that might be. I ran into someone who had I both partnered and played against quite a few times. She was coming opposite me on the footpath and gave me such a wide berth that she was more in danger of getting run over on the road than coming into contact with any of my germs. Upticks.

It’s not the actual upticking, or even the numbers of upticks – dickless or not.

The heart of the matter is the uptick expectation. FOMO on upticks, as though one is entitled to be upticked at any given time.

When the upticks don’t come – at first it’s anger, then denial. I didn’t want your stupid upticks anyway. Upticking is dumb.

Bargaining is next. If someone else is upticked, it’s for something that I was indirectly involved in – so it’s sort of an upticking. Like an assist in basketball.

Finally, there is acceptance. I will never be upticked to the level at which I should be. This is the fault of others, not me, and I will move on from the entire tedious upticking discussion which I started in the first place.

President Donald J. Trump’s political committees have over $122,000,000 “Cash on Hand” after raising over $51,000,000 during the period between July 1st and December 31st, 2021.

President Trump’s continued and unprecedented pace of fundraising shows that the future of the Republican Party in 2022 and beyond remains, perhaps, the strongest in our Country’s history—the MAGA movement is here to stay! This massive fundraising accomplishment does not include the hundreds of millions of dollars raised by other candidates and organizations who use President Trump’s name, likeness, endorsement, and America First Agenda as a platform for their efforts, further strengthening the movement he began in 2016.

Taylor Budowich, Director of Communications for President Trump and Save America PAC, said, “President Donald J. Trump has built a political organization that continues to capture and define the future of the Republican Party. From the massive and unprecedented Save America Rallies, to these record-breaking fundraising numbers, there is no question that the MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN (MAGA!) wave is set to crash across the Midterms and carry forward all the way through 2024. In the history of our Country there has never been a more reliable or winning endorsement of candidates than that of President Trump. President Trump is incredibly well positioned to look beyond November as the need for his leadership has never been more important.”

Key Fundraising Numbers from Donald J. Trump’s Political Committees:

• All Committees: Over $122,000,000 “Cash on Hand”
• Total Raised: Over $51,000,000
• Average Donation: $31
• Total number of Donations: 1,631,648
• Percent of Donations under $200: 98.6%
• Save America PAC has contributed $1,350,000 to like-minded causes and endorsed candidates

The entities will file with the Federal Election Commission today for the reporting period of 7/1/21 through 12/31/21.

Why ‘Top Gun’ Features That ‘Soft Porn’ Volleyball Scene

Director Tony Scott didn’t choreograph the scene or even clearly plan out his shots. Instead, he went in with a broad concept.

“I didn’t have a vision of what I was doing other than just doing soft porn,” the director admitted on the Top Gun 30th anniversary DVD (via The Wrap). “I knew I had to show off all the guys, but I didn’t have a point of view, so I just shot the shit out of it. I got the guys to get all their gear off and their pants and sprayed them in baby oil.”

Scott’s theory was that female moviegoers would appreciate the well-toned bodies the same way male viewers ogled bikini-clad eye candy. His inspiration came from Bruce Weber, a popular fashion photographer.

Adding to the scene’s ridiculousness was Kenny Loggins’ “Playing With the Boys” – a poppy, cheesy affair that was a far cry from the singer’s other Top Gun contribution, the adrenaline-pumping “Danger Zone.”

Despite much mocking, the volleyball game has had its defenders. Rossovich, for one, believed the scene served a clear narrative purpose. “I used the scene to cement Slider’s bond with Iceman,” the actor explained. “I was holding him all the time, sticking to like glue almost in a weird way. Because we were teammates.”

long dry harbour to which the museum of Marseille has been added.
They have the remains of four ancient Greek and Roman boats recovered from the harbour inside.
The area was a carpark for three Corbusier style high rises built ehind in the early 1950s, the shopping centre of more recent vintage , a bit more urban renewal of insalubrious accommodation but without the rounding up and internment of inhabitants that accompanied the destruction of the old port area.

Music legend Glenn Wheatley signs off at 74

Andrew McMillen
National music writer
1 minute ago February 1, 2022
No Comments

Prominent music industry figure Glenn Wheatley died in Melbourne on Tuesday, aged 74, from complications with Covid.

Wheatley’s career spanned decades, and saw him performing on stage before later ceding the spotlight to others as a highly successful artist manager.

Through his work at the highest levels of the Australian music business, Wheatley made a substantial impact on popular culture.

He was a skilled operator who was well-connected and widely liked, both here and abroad.

Born in Brisbane in 1948, Wheatley rose to prominence in the late 1960s as bassist in The Masters Apprentices, the Jim Keays-fronted band that became one of the most popular rock acts in the country with hit songs including Because I Love You, Turn Up Your Radio and Undecided.

Few musicians made the transition from artistry to the other side of the negotiating table better than Wheatley, who earned his first million dollars in the 1970s after he hung up the bass guitar to manage artists.

His first major success as a manager was with the Little River Band, which benefited greatly from Wheatley’s knowledge of the American music business in particular.

Wheatley produced the band’s 1975 debut album, and under his guidance Little River Band enjoyed consistent commercial chart success in the US and became one of Australia’s most successful rock exports.

After John Farnham replaced Glenn Shorrock as lead singer of the Little River Band in 1982, Wheatley began managing his old friend’s career and completely turned around both of their lives, earning each of them a fortune.

But it took a major leap of faith, as Wheatley famously mortgaged his house to finance the recording of Farnham’s 12th album, Whispering Jack.

The former teen pop idol was 37 at the time of its release in October 1986, and if Farnham’s career wasn’t quite on the skids, he wasn’t particularly in favour.

Yet Wheatley’s gamble turned out to be one of the smartest ever taken in the history of Australian pop music.

The Oz is doing some decent investigative work into the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
They’ve done a couple of in depth pieces recently (one was almost word for word what Anthony Klan produced independently).
I look forward to them going into the Labor appointees to the AAT & their howler decisions.
So far it’s just been the Lib appointees.

They’re not going to let Boris get away with that party.

I’d like it if more of our cartoonists concentrated on the “exceptions” here. For weeks on end.

The Poms are more tenacious, bless them.

Great Juxtaposition!
1. CBS Mornings suggests that Joe Rogan is killing people with his discussion of Covid and Ivermectin.
2. New Hampshire lawmakers propose bill to allow pharmacists to issue Ivermectin without prescription!

On Wheatley’s prison sentence. It was the icing on the cake after bankruptcy and losing everything. I remember his wife, Gaynor, talking candidly of the shame of having the sheriffs come to the house – they took everything that wasn’t nailed down, including the children’s toys. Then the case and prison.

Tax evasion? No, I practice tax avoision.

It’s a word, look it up!

There is no such thing as tax fraud, unless you’re referring to the scams relatives of high ATO officials were pulling.

I would like the Oz to conduct an investigation into the unsavoury Simon Holmes a Court.
