According to assorted press reports, we should see Russia invade Ukraine any time between now and late tonight (our time).
But…
Russia has mocked claims made by Western media outlets that an “invasion” of Ukraine will begin at 3am on February 16, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying that Ukrainians who believe such things are welcome to stay up.
Over in Kiev, the head of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s own party in the parliament, David Arakhamia, told Ukrainian TV was “99.9% confident that nothing will happen” on February 16.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the joint exercises in Belarus had ended as scheduled, and showed videos of tanks and other equipment traveling back to Russia. Meanwhile in Washington, US President Joe Biden delivered a short address at the White House about Ukraine saying that an invasion was still possible, Biden admitted that some Russian troops have withdrawn from the border.
Transgender activists used the frequency of self-harm among transgender minors as a wedge to further their cause. Here in Qld there is some government acknowledgement (via CHO) that the mask mandate will be dropped soon. Not that they are doing this to help Morrison – far from it – but the data is very poor to try to maintain these things and more people are becoming restive.

Just received in the mailbox the first piece of propaganda ahead of the upcoming state election in South Australia (March 19).
A one-page document primarily about postal voting and early voting with an application for postal voting included.
Then it moves on to a little bit of politicking.

Well, prepare yourself for a shock shatterzzz. You are an eco-warrior! I saw an article a couple of weeks ago about the sheer volume of masks that have been discarded and the damage they are doing to the environment. Some masks types were likened to almost cigarette butts in terms of their ability to decompose and the article had an accompanying photo of a bird entangled by the mask and ear straps. The article went on to implore people to cut the mask ear straps before disposal.

A week ago people were opining “why doesn’t someone just set up an alternative to gofundme?”. I commented that it’s not that simple setting up a money laundering front – which is what the existing “crowd funding” sites increasingly are, if you don’t want to instantly be de-platformed or declared a terrorist finance organisation.
One.
Week.
Later.
But there is the other aspect of this, about GSG, Gab and some of the other alternative platforms being set up on shoe string budgets that the centre right are starting to flow over to as the screws get turned on them now. IT security is hard. IT security + International $ transactions when you’re officially on the radar of, and in direct opposition to the modern collapsing nation state, is almost impossible.
And as we see. The stakes are quite high for everyone at the moment. Now the Australian state broadcaster wants to “talk” to John Smith Liberal Voter for making a donation to a likely soon to be on the list foreign “cause”. Hello ASIO under the ALP with that handy list. Just commenting on the Internet or donating $25 or turning up at a protest will get you on a list somewhere.
These people mean business, hopefully the “sensible” right are figuring that out.
That was Cathy McGowan before Haines.
The one ‘autonomy’ they respected in Canberra jail was my mask exemption – they asked me to mask up when first arrested, I told them I was exempt – they never mentioned it again – not anywhere
Kaz Ross?
I was going to call her a pompous ass, but am stopping myself because Americans might think that I think that ‘pompous’ means ‘bloated’.
She is a Dr (natch) and researches ‘far-right extremism’. And China. Not the politics of China, or history, or society, just…China.
But really, when someone says ‘far-right extremism’ you know they are lightweights (sorry Kaz, only mentally) with their heads crammed full of ways to explain things but almost no experience. So she must proceed from her theories to produce the ‘facts’ she will talk about.
“American nationalist movements and extreme religious groups,”
Hmm, so being a nationalist is now “extreme”…because what she means is that you’re extreme if you oppose open borders and illegal refugges. Oh and I bet Kaz (the name says it all) isn’t referring to such groups as Hizbut Tahrir, ISIS, Hamas and Hezbollah when she refers to “extreme religious groups”…….no, no, no. I have no doubt she’s referring to mainstream Christianity and Judaism as “extreme religious groups”.
I’m getting very cross with scum like Kaz Ross and if they makes me an extremist, so be it.
I was pleased to see your report of the crowd in Canberra. In the videos it looked bigger than any of the Melbourne protests.
One regular poster here recently opined 20,000 tops in Canberra last weekend!
You must have missed that any talk of “freedom” in now a dog whistle for right wing evil neo nazi gay bashing religious extremist.

This is the ‘wonderful’ Delta having a go at me and rewriting blog history. I seem to remember too, that when I felt I had to leave here previously, Delta was one of the first to hop in with a view that I had been unpleasant about her leg and therefore I must be good riddance . I cannot recall ever having been so, at a time when many people were making mild jokes, and I certainly would not have intentionally overstepped any boundaries on that. I am not some sort of obsessive deeply-masked ogre, although Bushkid has her views, and is welcome to keep them.
Re Delta’s spray above:
1. I don’t cry victim, but I do ask for fairness
2. I have never taken ‘a furious dislike’ to Johanna. From the very start of the bullying I have asked nothing but that she desist, in as many ways nicely as I have been able to do, but sometimes driven by complete irritation to hit back. Remember – we are talking here of YEARS of abusive attacks from a clearly fixated and obsessive woman whom Sinc had to put into moderation because of her threats to another here, not me. Johanna could not just let me be, no matter how often I asked. And the ususal suspect stood by and enjoyed it.
3. Some people here see this as a Johanna-Lizzie funfilled issue. It is not. I have never had any interest in engaging with Johanna.
3. Johanna has chased me viciously on the Cat for many years, lies about me constantly, has tried to doxx me and my husband, and puts up the ‘munificence’ meme which is one pushed by the Mrs. Bucket school of so-called satire, which bears no relationship to me and my life. Delta, I am far, far more than a few light-hearted comments about diamonds and my reciprocated love for my husband. You may chose to believe my commenting relies on such things, but the truth is that it never did and doesn’t now.
4. Class envy is alive and well on this blog. I have been the very inappropriate target for it.
5. No-one here is ‘wonderful’. We are all known only partially. And I won’t trouble you anymore.

This is why their ABC and other MSM and social media scum wanted access to Porter’s Blind Trust and to Pell’s bank account where people discreetly donated money to help their legal bills. Progressive scum want NAMES of people so that they can then smear them, lie about them, discredit them and destroy them.
Goanna, I hope they do well, I hope the LDP and PHON do well, I want any true conservative candidate to do well. Around here however we seem to have a lot of CDS, the UAP is the only minor party running candidates in every upper and lower house seat, it’s difficult to beat the Uniparty in the lower house and good luck to those who try. If they wish to vote for a minor and the LDP or PHON or anyone else than the Greens is running, good luck to them. The ones I don’t understand are those who would rather vote informal or not vote at all, rather than vote for a UAP candidate, they are just helping the Uniparty.
George Orwell castigated those who in WW2 took a neutral stand and wouldn’t take sides in the conflict, he could see that in doing so they were helping the Axis. Many of these things have been used by the medical profession for years but tens/hundreds of billions of the items have been used by the general public who may have a lower threshold for proper disposal.
Maybe we will soon see requests by the environmental groups for money to clean up some beaches/reef etc of medical waste. I can imagine the NGOs are preparing the research briefs as we speak.
Lizzie, I like you, but you’re making yourself look ridiculous.
You need to concentrate on your health and that of hairy. And these persistent returns can’t be good for either of you.

shatterzzz – 29? rims? What sort of bike, when I was a kid the biggest bikes had 28? and the racer style bikes had 27? which when we went metric became 700c.
29inch/740cc mountain bikes .. the biggest bike size available .. been out around 2 years now .
Great to ride but the tyres & tubes are more expensive than the , popular, 700cc ..

– Create the problem.
– Create a bureaucracy to fix the problem.
– Continue creating the problem.
– Ask for more money to fix the problem.
Naturally, the problem will never go away.
Rex , B John. Thanks. Homer is a complete idiot. In fact, he’s likely to the the worst idiot ever seen on Ozblogs. He never disappoints with respect to his imbecility.
shatterzzz, I’m out of touch obviously, is that one of those bikes with massive fat wheels and tyres? They would be pretty hard to push around with all that mass and rolling resistance.
The San Fran school board recall got up.
The seismic shift, even in the deepest blue parts of the US must scare the DNC re their donor pool.
Shit.

The big problem is that they’ll cheat in the recall vote count.
Here’s a way to upset the apple cart –
Demand drug testing for ALL Parliamentarians and their support staff.
And make the results known. Let’s see how they like their private health documents being made public.

I recall the loutish trash that make up the ABC boasting that they were stoned in the 60s and 70s when putting AM together.
But then turned up to work stoned was not uncommon in those days.
They are the dour and unforgiving Establishment now.
They have become what they most hated.
I can’t fit two in my baggie thingie under my seat.
Fortunately the only time ever I popped two tyres was a km from a bike shop.
So trudged there and begged a second tube, then drove back afterwards to pay them.
They were most amused.
Perfect weather for treadly from Cafe up past the lake then the Tramway Track this morning. Beautiful, and very enjoyable.

I got changed over mid-term after 30 years in McMahon (turtle) I’m now the last house on the edge of the Fowler (soon to be KKK) boundary so as far as representation goes same, non eventual, promises, different face .. weird idea , really, voting for a Liverpool area candidate, a place I only pass thru as opposed to Fairfield where I, actually, live & shop … LOL!
WTF does that mean?
Okay, Snakes eyes on the pair o’ dice, but there’s gotta be more to it than that?

Knuckles, are you still on for the Mitchell Street Mile tonight?
(For those who haven’t sampled the Northern Territory, this is a full strength beer in every pub along the infamous drag of “nightclubs”, “sporting clubs” and dives in one of the city’s longest streets.)
The Becciu Vatican Court Case begins again on 18 February. Let’s see what comes of it but…
Becciu has since taken to boycotting the court’s sessions. At the most recent pretrial hearing, the cardinal had his lawyers deliver a letter to the court in which he said that he would not attend because some of the evidence was “harmful to his priestly dignity and offensive to the entire college of cardinals of which he is a member.”
snort!
(my mirth will be interpreted as bullying)
I’d guess anyone unvax’d would also be on some kind of list now.
Klaus, Gates and Soros would be a good start. Talk about crimes against humanity.

Much as I hate punctures, this being the 3rd in two months & longest walk, Im grateful that at 74 I can still trundle 12 kms without too much hassle .. all my swimming & lockdown biking shines thru ..! Cirrhosis of the Liver thru alcoholism at 30, Cancer & chemo at 63 but still chasing that telegram plus close to getting all my wukka tax back thru the OAP .. LOL!
I think Lizzie has backed herself into the naughty corner

I watched a video of that interview this morning, can’t find it now. Senator Roberts also asked Commissioner Kershaw if the LRAD devices were turned on, Kershaw took that question on notice.
I must admit that I’m surprised that Commissioner Kershaw didn’t know if the device had been activated or not, he doesn’t appear to be in control of his police force.
I’m aware of the intent and need, I thought it for a while too, but the Germans didn’t have the capacity to execute such an undertaking. It would have been Stalingrad all over again, probably worse, and there is no reason to think that what they would find in Baku would not be a repeat of Maikop.
I literally just saw this on twitter. The Commissioner pretty much said “yup I’ll tell you which of different types of devices were there.”
Hope you get the telegram Shatterzzz, but I wonder who it’ll be from these days? Can’t see Liz’s kid being on throne long.
I only do an hour or so, but the Tramways Track is a good workout since it is a four kilometre long hill, two up and two down. When it used to be a tram track in the ’30’s sometimes the guys had to get out and push the steam tram.
Or he has a serious problem when it comes to telling the truth. This could have been exploded by a simple. NO. We won’t use LRAD on protesters who have the right to protest.
Is anyone else smelling something rotting?
It’s canbra so of course it stinks
I do not intend to defend myself regarding any other aspect of my recent post on DashCat to Elizabeth, but I will address this point as Cat readers would be unaware of the outcome.
Amid the good natured banter and one-legged jokes, Elizabeth made a demeaning remark which I found quite hurtful. I replied that it was in bad taste (or words to that effect) but I did not suggest good riddance. I have never called for the banning of any poster.
Shortly after this, Sinclair e-mailed me to say that Elizabeth regretted her remark and offered an apology. I accepted, and asked him to convey that to her. And I never mentioned the incident again, until now.
Elizabeth, I will not discuss this or any past posts with you. I also do not wish you further stress, especially as your husband is ill and you sound as though you’re coming down, too. However, I will say – and this was the basis of my DashCat post – no-one here is envious of you. You insult the Cats by suggesting otherwise. Furthermore, I doubt that anyone considers you a ‘tall poppy’, to use your own term, nor do they covet your life.
There are some amazingly successful, accomplished, educated and travelled Cats around here. That’s why we’re all drawn to this site.
Not familiar with the intricacies of the Canadian Constitution, but I imagine that would be the G-G, the parliament and the electorate, in that order temporally.
Never forget that the foundational philosophy of the left – in Australia, that means the ALP and the Greens – is that you’re too stupid to vote and that you must be directed to the correct choices by “experts” that they nominate.
Make no mistake: that’s what you’ll get if you put Albo in the Lodge. Think about that if you plan a “protest” vote.
Many, many upticks.
His unilateral modifications of the Emergencies Act are supposed to be debated and voted on by the Parliament within 7 days (which would be next Monday I think). He has apparently stated that as PM he will not allow it to be brought before the Parliament.
My understanding is that unless there is some way for the Parliament to force that to happen the only alternative is to take it to a Judge and ask for a stay until he does, or a ruling that his actions are unconstitutional.

Never forget that the foundational philosophy of the left – in Australia, that means the ALP and the Greens –

GO PLACIDLY amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Barnaby Joyce goes very well in Question time, Josh hasn’t got a question yet, he dissed High School students yesterday.
Too true Delta, I’ve never been envious of anyone else’s life, just grateful for my own. I wish I had taken care of my body a bit better, but would I be in the same place. I like my view of life from where I am. For everything good and bad got me here.

Deteriorata
Go placidly amid the noise and waste,
And remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep.
Rotate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself,
And heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss, and when.
Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment,
and despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer maintenance.
Remember The Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle, and mutilate.
Know yourself. If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you –
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore. It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth: birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan.
And let not the sands of time get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time, call 606-4311. Ask for Ken.
Take heart in the bedeepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever fortune may be your lot,
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.
You are a fluke of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not,
The universe is laughing behind your back.
Therefore, make peace with your god,
Whatever you perceive him to be – hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises, and urban renewal,
The world continues to deteriorate.
Give up!
Given that the measure must be approved by both houses of parliament within 7 days or it is revoked that would certainly be an option, but I would imagine the G-G would have to step in at that stage. Mind you, this assumes she is non-partisan. Interesting times for Canadians.
Another option would seem to involve a vote of no confidence, either by his party or the entire Parliament. If he doesn’t voluntarily step down after that the GG can boot him.
Thanks for the reminder chrisl.
That poem, in its entirety, was a hit in the early 70’s. They played a spoken version in rapid rotation on the radio. It had a profound effect on me as a young teenager.
I would probably exchange the “happy” for “content” given what I now know of life.
Fantastic rant. This is someone who understands what’s at stake at is definitely not ready to give up.

What reserve powers does the Canadian Governor-General have?
Certainly heading that way.
Evidently he has advice he’s on safe ground but that will be tested, whether in parliament or in the courts if the GG doesn’t step in.

Who profits from Inland Rail’s half billion dollar property purchases?

The Australian Rail Track Corporation is projected to spend $494 million dollars on acquiring property for the proposed Inland Rail route. Despite rumors of certain people buying land on the route prior to the purchases, the government refuses to release who they are acquiring the properties from with nearly half a billion dollars of taxpayer money.

Apparently this is a WEF best practice and the Australian information will form part of a global list.
The objective is clearly complete and absolute knowledge of all peoples activities, and through that, total control.

I have two favourite poets…the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy and the Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.
Perhaps my favourite poem of all time is this one by Constantine Cavafy.
Ithaka
by Constantine Cavafy
As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.
Hope your road is a long one.
May there be many summer mornings when,
with what pleasure, what joy,
you enter harbors you’re seeing for the first time;
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations
to buy fine things,
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
sensual perfume of every kind—
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
and may you visit many Egyptian cities
to learn and go on learning from their scholars.
Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you’re destined for.
But don’t hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you’re old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.
Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you wouldn’t have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you’ll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has engaged an international law firm to investigate a car accident involving the official car of Australia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
The accident, which left two police cars damaged, occurred during last year’s Glasgow Climate Summit, when Mr Brandis’ car reportedly tried to catch up to Scott Morrison’s official motorcade.
Eloi parasite. Remember when Pauline made him cry?
The Daily Telegraph reported that Mr Brandis’ car was trying to join the Prime Minister’s motorcade on his final day at the Glasgow Climate Summit in November, when he was en route to a stakeholder breakfast.
The newspaper reported security officers in two Metropolitan Police cars saw the High Commissioner’s official car attempting to join the motorcade and took defensive measures to head off the perceived threat.
It cited a diplomatic source as saying, “George was late and was telling his driver to hurry up and catch up with the motorcade”.
