This is the language used by the BOM, deep within the warning advice:

Tropical low 23U is currently located in the Timor Sea and may develop into a tropical cyclone during Friday or Saturday. The low is likely to be slow-moving over the next two days as it develops.

There is some uncertainty about the movement of 23U in the longer term. There remains the possibly of a track moving to the east over the Top End or a west southwest track towards Western Australia.

Might be a cyclone. Might not be. Could go this way. Could go that way. That’s if it becomes a cyclone. Which it might. Or might not.

If the BOM were talking about a species of frog being made extinct by Trump and a lack of funding for climate change research, you could bet your sweet bee-hind they’d be plenty more specific.

In breaking news from the Oz:

Vladimir Putin has declared war on Ukraine in what the Kremlin has called a “special military operation”, warning foreign nations to keep out of the way or endure “consequences as [they] have never experienced”.

and in totally unrelated news:

Billionaire Clive Palmer and his wife have been taken by ambulance to a Gold Coast hospital by ambulance with Covid-like symptoms just days after illness forced him to cancel a high-profile speech, The Gold Coast Bulletin reports.

Three ambulances arrived at Mr Palmer’s mansion on the Sovereign Islands just before noon and took both he and his wife Annastacia to Pindara Hospital.

Three ambulances? Three! Obviously one for Cloive; one for Mrs Cloive, and one for The Wallet.

Peter FitzSimons has lashed out at Scott Morrison for backing a new push to prevent women who were born male from playing female sport.

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister threw his support behind Liberal senator Claire Chandler’s proposed law to prevent women’s clubs from being sued for excluding a trans player to reduce the risk of injury and unfair competition.

‘I support it, I think it is a terrific bill and I’ve given her great encouragement,’ he said alongside the Tasmanian senator in Trianbunna on Tuesday.

In FitzSimons probing Wednesday column, he accused the coalition of drumming up a divisive pre-election debate, pointing out that this bill hasn’t actually been requested by anybody from within a major sporting body

‘For me, Prime Minister Morrison and Senator Chandler’s move feels much like the ludicrous Religious Discrimination bill did – throwing red meat to their political base to fire them up, rather than actually setting out to solve a serious problem.’

Fitzsimian, always the fool, rather play the politics by smearing and mocking the PM. You have to wonder what’s his answer is to this “serious problem”? Allowing biological men to compete against biological women…meaning women’s sport will disappear overnight (it’s happening in the US). Australia’s best political reporter Simon Benson pointed out in this morning’s Paywallian that Ukraine has totally changed the federal election campaign.

A foreign war in which Australia has an alliance interest in siding with the USA kills kung flu as Australia’s most dominant political issue and makes Scott Morrison a de facto wartime prime minister.

It’s manna from heaven for Morrison and a nightmare from hell for Albo and Labor. Morrison’s non-existent and duplicitous lack of national leadership on kung flu has been buried as an election issue by a foreign war.

Morrison will attempt to spend the next two months trying to sound like Winston Churchill.

Simples.

The World Economic Forum and all the arrayed Economists, bureaucrats, NGOs and CEOs are not Commerce.

If the money does not move, everything they leech off dies.

Who makes the money move? Little people like us, buying, selling, eating, drinking, shitting, calling out plumbers, paying bills and looking after each other.

So if the little people stop doing all that using the leechs’ preferred methods out of fear the leeches will destroy them for unsanctioned opinions, the leeches die. And those more closely exposed to the money not moving panic and thrash those at the top of the pile (like Justni) until they get the hint.

Boomercon hold over about “business” being some sort of secret reserve power of Freedom! is the last hangover from the 2000’s cuckservative dogma that we have to go for a good swim in the ocean to get rid of.

Business is a proxy for the government, a cats paw. In Australia they’re willing tax collectors from the people, ticket clippers from the people and now officially willing law enforcers over the people.

The only solution to a state with unlimited government power, is to become the government.

There are no One Weird Tricks around that. There are no vast secret forces of freedom power operating in the bowels of corporate buildings acting as a counter-balance to governments. It is the opposite. In retrospect that was always a ridiculous bit of fantasy and a coping mechanism. And in honesty just a way of people excusing themselves out of doing anything personally “oh it’s ok business will teach those upstarts in government a thing or two”.

Then they joined forces and proceeded to annihilate us all.

}The NIH clearly funded activities related to Gain of Function at Chinese facilities, including the WIV. This we already know from prior releases.

What are they hiding now that’s worse than that? Well, we can only guess.

But now there’s also been great detective work to uncover how exactly the “furin cleavage site” (PRRA, baby!) got into SAR2. The precise genetic sequence is quite odd as it doesn’t appear anywhere else in the entire world of viruses or higher animals. But it does appear in several Moderna patents. I don’t think I was ever a willing tax collector. PAYE was already in place long before I had my own business, and GST was a complete nightmare that cost me a huge amount of money to implement, as margins had to be cut in the short term if I wanted turnover. The BAS is still a thorn in the side for most small to medium business owners.

IT used to rail about corporatism and that’s probably where the authoritarian devil lurks. The big corporates do as they please. And when they put a step our of line, watch out! 25+ million other folks felt differently enough (even if they might have agreed with you) that it didn’t happen.

I understand that rhetorically beating me up for upticks and continuing to smear and Nuff about how the WEF/NWO/COBRA is setting up to murdergenocide and rule us in perpetuity with digital social credit systems is excellent Cope, but it is never going to lead to change.

We have spent 2 years as a society mutually blundering about in the dark, bruising and pissing each other off. Even the people purportedly in charge had no damned idea of what the hell they were doing. And still don’t.

To call businesses (made up of people) shills for government (in this case, an abstracted cardboard cutout to make it easier to hate and project loss-of-power fantasies onto) is to hide oneself in the same psychotic bubble as every one who latched onto the Left’s ‘Non-Compliance is Science Denial!’ and ‘Anti-Vaxxxer! Just look at this punitive insanity from QLD Health:

Can unvaccinated people use pools that are at their accommodation (e.g. pools at hotels, resorts, motels, holiday apartments)?

An unvaccinated person may use the pool, but not the bar facility attached to the pool.

But then:

Are you penalising unvaccinated people?

No. This isn’t about penalising unvaccinated people.

Just some random thoughts and a note that my previous post on Ukraine should have been caveat-ed in that it was based on some assumptions:

– Putin limits his objectives to the two previously contested provinces. Then says ‘mission accomplished’ and goes back to his dacha.

If he tries to take and hold all of Ukraine he’s going to eventually run out of cash, high tech equipment, and the goodwill of the Russian people because it’s going to be flat out muddy, ugly, bloody, and drawn out… and he still won’t have control a year from now. The Ukrainians aren’t going to fold easily and general winter bothers them not.

– Neither side, nor a rouge actor, gets stupid enough to do a black ops bit on the pipeline, cutting it and attempting to blame it on their opponent.

– Ukraine keeps their friends onside to arm and feed them. Going to need some good videographers and comms to do that. A few really good hackers and spoofers wouldn’t hurt either.

On the other hand, this thing could be over by the end of the weekend if Putin restrains his appetite. But Donbass and Luhansk aren’t going to be fun places to live after.

Yep, if you want a real world example, look to Gulf Wars 1 and 2: In Gulf war 1, Bush Senior sensibly limited his victory conditions to the achievable – get Saddam out of Kuwait, then go home.

In Gulf War 2, we upped the ante to the un – achievable: occupy Iraq AND control the people. The result was an insurgency that eventually triumphed because, like all occupying powers, they weren’t prepared to pay the price to hold on to a country they really didnt want anyway.

If Vlad limits himself to taking the ethnically Russian Eastern provinces only, the price will be acceptable because there will not be a widespread insurgency. If he goes further west, he will run into populations which do not support him, and an insurgency will arise.

I predict he is smart enough to settle for option1.

Meanwhile – will China move on Taiwan? If so, most likely via a blockade. I have seen analyses which suggest a full blow invasion is probably beyond them at the moment, given their limited sealift ability. In any case, the US is broken, I doubt they have the cojones to seriously oppose either Vlad or the CCP.

My take on The Project airing a baffling interview by Waleed Aly with an individual that has left the freedom movement by atoning for their past actions and rejoining the vaccinated community. The interview at times lacked even the most basic pretence of journalistic integrity and verged on exploitative agenda driven propaganda during its attempt to associate all protesters with the conflicted actions of one individual. Waleed and the guest even insinuated at one point that any opposition to lockdowns in Victoria was because of misinformation alone.

The full interview is available via the Projects social media pages at the moment, but with comments already disabled it’s possible they may take the entire interview offline.

The Bill just prevents XY people with “lesbian dicks” from suing a body that enforces sane rules. The “major” bodies can still let their playing fields be testosterone filled and their changing rooms be a showplace for “lesbian dicks” if they want to.

This is the classic “Buffer States” problem.

At the collapse of the USSR, there was plenty of distance between NATO and Russia.

From a stability point of view, having weakly aligned buffer states in between eases tensions.

But Germans gotta German, and so the EU /NATO has subsumed all the buffer, and are now knocking at the door. The Wehrmacht, disguised as NATO and supported by their WW2 enemy the US, has achieved more than any previous Reich, through bullying, economic warfare and Teutonic relentlessness.

All the buffer states are gone, we’re down to buffer towns and regions. Once the buffer is used up, border skirmishes begin, and it’s back to Imperial Conflict.

Germany vs Russia. We’ve heard it before.

This is getting more and more true of any large business in Australia.
At work I was recently reading an investors agreement for a pretty big new operation. As usual it had clauses protecting the minority investors by imposing certain requirements that couldn’t be overruled by majority vote. One was qualifications required of candidates for appointment of C-suite execs. On that list was demonstrable experience and capacity in dealing with government.
Maybe it has always been so but that was the first time I’ve seen it spelled out as directly as that.

Researchers stabilize the closed SARS-CoV-2 spike trimer

original paper

Introduction of two prolines and removal of the polybasic cleavage site leads to optimal efficacy of a recombinant spike based SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in the mouse model

As we all probably know by now, spike protein has two subunits, S1 + S2. when the spike protein is used to enter a cell, the S1 is jettisoned. This is a serious problem for vaccines given the toxicity of S1. The primary concern of the researchers in stabilising the S protein however was transportation and cold storage and ensuing the S1 protein did not undergo separation.

Little seems to have been done beyond these mouse models to determine what happens to the S protein in vivo. Given that researchers are finding separated S1 in uninfected and vaccinated people months post jab, questions remain.

Because that was the first practucal unified Western European olitical organisation to exist.

Before the EU became the bloated bureaucratic monster with delusions of political and moral significance it is today, before even its predecessors the European Coal and Steel Community, there was NATO the mutual self-defence organisation with US military and economic backing.

You wanted to show your solidarity and eagerness to engage with your neighbours, you went and signed up with NATO.

When Russia’s economy and the Communist Parties collapsed, the first smart move to attract investment and cultivate good diplomatic relations from the rest of the world was NATO membership.

There was never any agenda of perfidious ‘German’ or ‘US’ expansionism, other than individual nations doing what they deemed prudent at the time.

The Ukrainian Constitution actually allows for the self-government of districts.

So if Russia and the US had staye dout of it, and Kiev had been better disposed to its Russian minority, a modus vivendi might have been reached without conflict.

At the moment, nobdy involved in this, including the US, can rightfully claim the high ground.

As some here are contriting about failed predictions of Ukraine non-invasion..

I did the same last week, after several weeks of standard MSM fear-mongering,
However…
An invasion proper would see tanks and troops stomping around Kyiv and Kharkiv.
I still doubt that will ever happen, for reasons of cost, supplies, public support etc.. all detailed above.
A border-redistribution of the Donbas (Luhansk and Donetsk regions), which is majority ethnic Russian seems to be Putin’s aim, but.. that region has not been controlled by Kyiv since 2014, just like the Crimea.
So, at this stage, it’s formalising militarily what has been the realpolitik for 8 years.

No diplomatic solution was ever possible, Putin seemingly the only leader to know this.
Putin looking after his own people, a distant memory in the decaying West.
All power to him!
And to hear the standard boilerplate BS excreted by Western Leaders again shows the shallow depravity and impotence of NATO, as well as the demented cretin’s US.

As for all the claims of explosions in Kyiv etc.. is there any non-fakenewsy real evidence?, in this age of 3,4,5G? Not that I’ve seen so far.

It was theirs for a lot longer than it was the Ukraine’s.

Interesting developments in gas markets.
Right now, gas transiting the Ukraine (from Russia) is being pumped into the Romanian & Slovakian hubs.
This is normal.
But there is zero gas going from Ukraine into Poland.
This is not normal.
So what’s happening is gas has to go around the loop from all other hubs in Europe to feed Poland & the other countries off that spur.
Which is putting further pressure on ze German parts of the network.
I’m not going to watch this non stop.
But it is fascinating to watch real time.
I’m sure there’s some monkey business going on.

The BAS is still a thorn in the side for most small to medium business owners.

Tell me that’s not true calli.
I distinctly remember one of the pro-quarterly BAS marketing themes was “it helps small business stay tuned to their finances instead of waiting until the end of the year.”

On Putin vs Tony Abbott, i’ve today been informed that Judo guys like The Pute are always training and they learn to box anyway, so Tony beating up Vlad over the Ukies shooting down MH17, as well as being preposterous, isn’t a realistic outcome.

Could we have a reminder of the aggressive Canadian finance minister announcing her hunt down and closing of personal bank accounts and then the time it took to unfreeze said accounts. Am waiting with baited breath to find out just how they did it and the amounts of money involved to apply the choke hold.

Shit Grigs, now you’re slow and stupid.

More importantly, you need to at least try to be factually accurate- It was not Ukraine that shot down MH17, nor was it people who consider themselves ‘Ukrainian.’

Try to read and comprehend the talking points before you eat them, next time…

Cuba is rather closer to the US than Turkey is to Russia.

Technically the distance from Turkey to the Soviet Union at the time of the missile crisis was less than one millimetre since they bordered each other.

One fun thought is that, now that Putin has established that ethnic parts of another country should by divine right or something be part of his country, Turkey might announce annexation of Idlib province. It’s the Sunni bit of western Syria, and Turkey has been doing a Donbas impersonation there for quite a while. Erdogan won’t get a better chance than now, and he just as ambitious as Vlad.

You know, it might just be that the territorial settlement of Ukraine following the collapse of the USSR was simply not fit for purpose. It was before then more a administrative unit rather than a political one; majorities in the East and Crimean peninsula never wanted to be part of an independent Ukraine.

OTOH, there are many actual Ukrainians in the eastern part who are (to put it tactfully) not over keen on becoming part of Russia. The Holodomor remains an active memory to them.
