Sharma says numbers are declining not because people care less about the environment. It’s part of a broader shift in how people mobilise. Although she admits that some people have become increasingly disengaged and disillusioned with the government’s lack of action. The challenge for those still in the movement is how to reignite it.

Face it, young lady of seventeen years, the ‘climate emergency’ is over.
It never existed and it definitely is being exposed as a hoax and fraud now.
Concentrate on your schoolwork and looking great for the boys soon to be in your life.
There is more to life and love than activism. A bright future looms. Go out and have fun.

Also, Zelensky can go fuck himself. He’s trying to goad the West into the war, ie. he’s trying to start WW3. No, you can’t have a US-imposed no-fly zone, Zelensky (or at least I hope to God you don’t get one). As US planes will be shot down, Russian SAM positions will be struck, things will kick off in the Black Sea, and the situation will escalate to…well…I don’t like to think about it.

Only the Russians were asking about some sort of peaceful de escalation as far as I see it.

One of Putin’s demands was for Ukraine to abolish its military (“demilitarise”). Abolish your military or we’ll invade! That’s deescalation, is it?

Probably should also mention we had two chooks and a good sized lamb leg in there with veges as well and it took about two hours.

All turned out beautifully and the lamb was subtly suffused with garlic and rosemary that I don’t normally notice when done in the oven.

When climate activist Anjali Sharma gets home from school, she rarely has time to have a snack before she is making calls and writing statements. “I wish I could be a normal teenager and just be able to focus on homework and nothing else.”

Anjali Sharma needs to go back to India for a year so she can sort out her priorities. Like having an electric stove so she doesn’t have to cook with cow dung, or cart water from two km away from a stream where her countrymen shit and piss into it, or delivering her babies with no medical backup because her parents gave her away to a 65 year old bloke who is wealthy – owns his own shack where his other three wives work all day sewing face masks for rich Westerners.

We have had a quiet Easter Sunday this year, a few phone calls to family members, but we are hosting an afternoon party for our youngest son’s 38th birthday tomorrow. He was an Easter baby. I have purchased the cake and two golden candles representing 38. Apparently, as I observe it from many instances, in these days of Covid (even though so many have had it) it is considered polite to remove the candles from the cake after photographs of appreciation have been taken, and hold them in one’s hand to blow them out (hence the numeric candles for adults replace the big firey display; children though still like the big numeric burn-up, sometimes with some gladwrap covering the cake till they are blown out with the full force of a three year old’s daycare germs). I wonder if things will stay this way now, or go back to the previous modus operandi.

Depositors will lose their money next time the banks fail.

What does it mean for depositors to “lose” their money? If it means they lose every cent, maybe but also maybe not. The reason is that it depends on the severity of bank losses and how far losses extend up through the capital and then debt (deposits + bonds).
It may mean depositors move to becoming shareholders. 🙂

Peter Schiff and Megyn Kelly discuss #Elon Musk buying #Twitter, and what will happen to the economy when we can’t raise interest rates and inflation skyrockets.

Schiff is always predicting doom. It may take a while for the Fed to mend things as it’s apparent it’s now behind the game. The Fed is 100% responsible both for inflation and deflation as it has control of the money supply.

Her claim makes allegations of bullying, harassment and discrimination by more than one Liberal MP
The ABC has confirmed Rachelle Miller made the new allegations in a workplace claim, as first reported by the Saturday Paper, with a negotiated settlement expected to be more than $500,000.

The claim includes the allegations against her former boss Mr Tudge, of being emotionally and, on one occasion, physically abusive to her while they were involved in a consensual affair in 2017.

Well donut:

Comparisons of official MOJ statistics from March / April 2019 (most recent
official count of transgender prisoners):
76 sex offenders out of 129 transwomen = 58.9%
125 sex offenders out of 3812 women in prison = 3.3%
13234 sex offenders out of 78781 men in prison =
16.8%

Now this is a narrow study of prisoners.

Incidentally outside of DV in 6th nation relationships which are 35 times the community average, the rate of victimisation in other types of relationships are: 43.8 percent for lesbians, making it the second most affected group after bisexual women (61.1 percent), ahead of bisexual men (37.3 percent), heterosexual women (35 percent), heterosexual men (29 percent) and homosexual men (26 percent) .

I don’t know what bail-in means.

A bank failure is just like any other fail. If the capital is lost then the creditors become the new owners and their debt is basically converted to equity. Of course, it all depends in the size of the losses and how much of the old equity and existing debt needs to cover the losses.

Ranking of who goes first in a fail

1. Equity
2. Non- secured debt

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/sep/09/sexual-assaults-in-womens-prison-reignite-debate-over-transgender-inmates-karen-white

Karen White was on remand for multiple rapes and other sexual offences against women when she transferred to New Hall prison, near Wakefield.

Last week it emerged that after transferring to the female prison, she was accused of four sexual assaults against other inmates between September and November last year, before being moved to a men’s prison.

White admitted to the sexual assault of two inmates when she appeared at Leeds crown court on Thursday to admit to a rape she had committed before she was sent to prison.

Frances Crook, the chief executive of the Howard League for Penal Reform, said vulnerable women were being put at risk by a small number of violent men whose primary interest was harming women.

Pilgrim Tucker, who has led legal action over proposed changes to the Labour party’s policy on the formal inclusion of self-identifying trans women on all-women shortlists, said women campaigning about self-identification had long warned of the risk it posed. “Almost half of trans women prisoners are sex offenders,” she said. “We urgently need to start prioritising the safeguarding of women and girls over the feelings of male-bodied people.”

A government survey has counted 125 transgender prisoners in England and Wales, which is likely to be an underestimate. According to MoJ figures released in response to a freedom of information request by the BBC, 60 of them have been convicted of one or more sexual offences.

I don’t know what bail-in means.

“Since the end of 2014, new G20 Bank Bail-In Laws have gotten put into place.

Bank depositors are now legally treated as unsecured creditors in the largest economies in the world.
G20 – (n) the world’s largest 19 national economies, including the USA, and the European Union together, a group of 20. Additionally, there are representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The G20 finance ministers and central bank governors began meeting in 1999, at the suggestion of the G7 finance ministers in response to the financial crisis in the 1990s.

Bailin – (v/n) restructuring of a financial institution on the brink of failure, by forcing its creditors and unsecured depositors to take losses on their holdings. It often gets regarded as a rescue of last resort to help a troubled financial institution’s ability to attract future business. A bail-in is different from a bail-out, which involves the rescue of a financial institution typically by government credit extensions into the failing private sector.

It has been
rather naïvely suggested that nobody would seek to pretend transsexual status in
prison if this were not actually the case. There are, to those of us who actually
interview the prisoners, in fact very many reasons why people might pretend this.
These vary from the opportunity to have trips out of prison through to a desire for a
transfer to the female estate (to the same prison as a co-defendant) through to the idea
that a parole board will perceive somebody who is female as being less dangerous
through to a [false] belief that hormone treatment will actually render one less
dangerous through to wanting a special or protected status within the prison system
and even (in one very well evidenced case that a highly concerned Prison Governor
brought particularly to my attention) a plethora of prison intelligence information
suggesting that the driving force was a desire to make subsequent sexual offending
very much easier, females being generally perceived as low risk in this regard. I am
sure that the Governor concerned would be happy to talk about this.’

Fladell v. Palm Beach County Canvassing Board (2000) says there cannot be a new election/recall/change of POTUS.

Donohue v. Board of Election of the State of New York (1976) says there can be a new POTUS election or changeover.

Whatever, if there is judicial confirmation that enough votes were fraudulent then biden is delegitimised so that court action could invalidate every decision he has made and if there are enough GOP in the HOR and senate removed through impeachment.

Bait and switch, bait and switch..

.A: The Kid that she picked on is a 16 year old Private Citizen
.B: who decided to become a Dude.

.A:Ooooh wookata widdle face, poor kid to be protected from the harsh realities of adult criticism
.B: But can make a decision while still a child to self sterilise and undergo hormone treatment and surgical mutilation.

For people born as males, surgery can involve removing the penis and testicles, and sometimes the prostate gland. Tissue from the penis is used to make a vagina and clitoris, which will have sensation. The lips around the vagina (the labia) can be constructed from tissue from the scrotum. The tube that takes urine out of the body, the urethra, is shortened. After surgery, the person uses a vaginal dilator to keep their vagina open.

For people born as females, surgery may involve removing the breasts (mastectomy), ovaries and uterus (hysterectomy). The vagina is closed and a penis and scrotum are made from other tissue — for example, from the arm, thigh, back or the inside of the wall of the abdomen. Sometimes a penis is made from the clitoris, which has previously been enlarged by using hormone therapy.

This is fine
Everything is ok.

Hell theres only a chance of never having sexual pleasure…

As with any surgery, there are risks involved including bleeding, infections, blood clots, damaged tissue and changes in feeling in the skin. Afterwards, some patients have problems going to the toilet or achieving sexual pleasure and/or orgasm.

….
There are international guidelines covering gender confirmation surgery. Before you have surgery, the guidelines say you must have:

gender dysphoria that has gone on for some time
be able to make a fully informed decision and give consent
be over 18*
have any physical or mental health problems well controlled
have been taking hormones for 12 months continuously, if they are recommended for you
have lived for 12 months continuously as the gender that is the same as your gender identity

*Unless we cant be arsed.
https://www.topsurgeryaustralia.com/ftm-top-surgery-faq.htm#:~:text=Can%20I%20get%20top%20surgery,make%20enquiries%20on%20this%20website.

And awesome… the taxpayer is on the hook.
Gender confirmation surgery can be very expensive — up to about $30,000, depending on which procedures you need. This includes the surgeon’s and anaesthetist’s fees, specialist visits, hospital costs, counselling and hormone therapy.

Many of these costs are covered by Medicare as long as you have a referral. You can check which procedures are covered by Medicare at MBS Online. However, because the surgery is usually performed privately in Australia, you can expect to pay a gap (when the doctor charges more than Medicare pays).

Services, who the hell needs services.

Smith could only be American. His kid is a nurse too.

For FedEx Founder Fred Smith, the Sky Is Still the Limit
He reflects on logistics, economics and lessons from building ‘the largest transportation system ever put on the planet.’

Memphis, Tenn.

In March 2020, at age 75, Fred Smith should have been winding down his legendary career as CEO of FedEx. Then Covid-19 hit, everyone’s life turned upside down, and the company he founded had to save the world—“literally,” he says, with no small amount of passion.

“We, and UPS, and to a lesser degree the Postal Service and a company called DHL, literally kept the world operating,” Mr. Smith declares. “I don’t think that what our people did is understood or appreciated nearly to the extent it should be.”

The people he refers to are the 560,000 FedEx employees in 220 countries. “The pandemic created demand that our folks—and it certainly wasn’t me!—heroically met.” A photo that ran on the front page on the New York Times in March 2020 shows an eerily deserted Wall Street with the lone figure of a FedEx delivery man going about his business. “It was an iconic image,” Mr. Smith says.

Mr. Smith founded FedEx in 1973 with a handful of converted Dassault Falcon 20 business jets—each one “about as big as one of the engines” on the Boeing 777s in the FedEx fleet today. Now 77, he’s stepping down as CEO on June 1, though he’ll stay on as chairman. My plan at his company headquarters in Memphis is to ask about lessons learned over his career.

But Mr. Smith is having none of it. He’s fired up about the here and now, and our talk turns to Covid. Mr. Smith bristles at my suggestion—prompted by his assertion that “we’ll pass $100 billion in revenues next year”—that the pandemic has been good for FedEx. “I don’t think anything that’s taken a million people’s lives . . .,” he says before trailing off in silent indignation. Covid might have been “good in terms of creating some demand, but boy, societally, it has been very bad.”

“I’m not getting on my high horse here, but I’m going to make a point,” he continues. “My best friend died of it, a physician. One of our daughters was a nurse in the Navy Reserve. They called her up from her unit and she was sent to New York.” Her commander dispatched her to Elmhurst Hospital Center in the New York borough of Queens, often described as Covid’s Ground Zero in the U.S. “She was walking across body bags.”

Among FedEx’s contributions in the pandemic, Mr. Smith points to its keeping “people supplied at home and the healthcare and industrial supply chains open.” He highlights the distribution of personal protective equipment and Covid vaccines. “What people don’t know is that we had 900 employees in Wuhan, and they didn’t have enough PPE.” Fedex flew 777s bearing PPE across the Pacific more than 1,000 times in the early months of 2020. “Within weeks, the problem went away.” Then came the miracles from Moderna and Pfizer : “There are only two networks that could deliver the vaccines—us and UPS. And we did tens of millions, at 99-plus accuracy. It was just unbelievable.” (Other companies, including United Airlines and DHL, moved vaccines as well.)

He pivots to the present and China’s latest Covid surge. “By the way,” he says, “our people are sleeping in sleeping bags by the hundreds in the Shanghai FedEx facility, to keep the economy of the world going as we speak.”

Mr. Smith wants to make clear that none of this was easy. Congress’s last Covid relief stimulus “created an enormous amount of withdrawal of labor from the market,” and that had a direct impact: “People make the supply chain this arcane subject. Hell, it was a lack of people to off-load trucks, and of people to drive the trucks.” There wasn’t “a big problem going through those ports out there. They weren’t even working three shifts. It’s simple: you couldn’t move it once it got ashore.”

If this seems a labor-centric view of the supply-chain crisis, it’s attributable to his experience. In summer 2021, he says, “we were 40,000 package-handlers short, and there were people in the media saying that the stimulus checks didn’t have anything to do with that.” Such people are “divorced from the world we’re living in.” FedEx made up the shortfall by December: “It took a lot of effort.” Mr. Smith concedes that large numbers of people may simply have decided not to work for fear of the pandemic. But “if I’m getting a government check,” he says, there’s less incentive to “go into a warehouse.”

He’s alarmed by President Biden’s economic policies. “Had we passed the Build Back Better bill that Biden wanted, my guess is that we would be Weimar Germany right now,” he says. “We’d have 25% inflation rather than 9% or 10%.” Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, the Democrats who stymied the bill, were “like the Dutch kid with the finger in the dike.”

In the same vein, he tells me he thinks modern monetary theory—which holds that federal spending ought not to be constrained by revenue—is “insane.” You can’t “print money without regard to the fundamental laws of economics.”

In his view, one of the problems with our political discourse is “the isms. People talk about capitalism and socialism and communism. There’s only two kinds of economic systems: the market-driven and the government-directed. That’s it! The more you move toward a state-directed economy, the less efficient and more corrupt it becomes.”

The history of FedEx tracks the history of deregulation in U.S. transportation. Mr. Smith’s entrepreneurial story begins at Yale, from which he graduated in 1966. A flier who helped revive the storied Yale Flying Club—which had given America some of its finest pilots in World War I—he earned money as an undergraduate ferrying parcels by air for clients. “These nascent technology companies—Burroughs, Xerox, IBM and so forth—would hire an entire airplane and a pilot to move a little bitty package around.” He cups his hands together to show how small his cargo sometimes was.

After two tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, he got his tiny company off the ground in 1973. His regulatory fights, Mr. Smith says, were as important as the establishment of his business model. America’s skies were a maze of regulations, and his earliest Dassault planes were small enough to evade most of them. “But there was so much demand,” he chuckles, “ that we quickly outgrew the plane, and that’s why the deregulation of air transport was so important to us.”

The reform of U.S. transportation is “one of the most unremarked success stories of the 20th century.” And Mr. Smith wants credit to go to the oft-derided Jimmy Carter. “He started it all.” In rapid order, Mr. Smith lists the market-liberalizing laws that helped FedEx to flourish: the deregulation of air cargo in 1977, which let FedEx introduce its first Boeing jets, passenger air services a year later, and interstate truck and rail transportation in 1980; then the federal pre-emption of intrastate trucking rules in 1994. Two bastions of red tape—the Civil Aeronautics Board and Interstate Commerce Commission—were abolished. International aviation, which governments had tightly controlled, opened up. “In 1992, the U.S. and the Netherlands enacted the first of many Open Skies agreements,” Mr. Smith says.

Today, FedEx can fly almost everywhere. FedEx is now “the largest transportation system ever put on the planet.” Its 689 planes fly out of 650 airports, and its motor-vehicle fleet exceeds 200,000.

In addition to being a lifelong—and self-described—fiscal conservative, Mr. Smith describes himself as a “social liberal” and “international realist.” His favorite American politician is Sen. Tim Scott, a South Carolina Republican, who Mr. Smith believes would make a fine president: “He has life experience—came up a working person from a disadvantaged category. He’s intellectually very sound. I have no idea whether he’s even interested in running, but he’s exactly the philosophy that I am.”

In explaining his own social liberalism, Mr. Smith points out that “we, years ago, basically approved benefits for our gay employees.” FedEx, he says, is “committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and opportunity.” He offers to bet me that I haven’t “talked to a CEO in a long time who has three African-Americans on their board, four minorities, and four women” out of 12. “We don’t get any credit.”

One of the minority board members, Mr. Smith notes, is Raj Subramaniam, FedEx’s president and CEO-elect. “He’s an Indian,” Mr. Smith says, while observing in jest that “Indian-Americans control the whole economy. You got Satya Nadella”—Microsoft’s CEO—“you got the head of Adobe, the head of IBM. I could keep going. It’s the damnedest thing that I ever saw.” When I press him to explain, he resorts to an answer that skirts the boundaries of our race-fraught times: “It’s pretty self-evident. You have certain cultures where you have family focused on high achievement and academic success, particularly with two parents.”

Free trade is Mr. Smith’s greatest passion. Trade, he says, has enabled the U.S. to be the only global power in human history to get rich while also enabling the rest of the world to prosper. In his view, the neglect of U.S. industry in favor of the financial and tech sectors—for which successive administrations in Washington are culpable—has led to a spike in populism that casts global trade as a villain.

Chinese “mercantilism” hasn’t helped: “You can’t pretend that a mercantilist state like China is a free trader. It’s not.” He’d like a “coalition of the willing” of free-trade states to challenge the Chinese at every opportunity. For his part, he’d like to have a chat with Xi Jinping. “I know President Xi. I met him when he was the party head down in the eastern part of China. If I had a conversation here today, I’d say, ‘Mr. President’—just as I did with Trump—‘I strongly advise you to re-embrace open markets, which made you rich.’ ”

He was particularly dismayed in 2016, when both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton turned against the Trans-Pacific Partnership. He’d like the U.S. to resume global leadership on free trade, and sees such a move as the modern-day equivalent of the Marshall Plan, one which would allow countries to prosper, “not beggar each other.”

The plan takes the name of George Marshall, whom Mr. Smith admires more than any other statesman. The Army’s chief of staff during World War II, he was also President Harry S. Truman’s secretary of state and later of defense. “My father died when I was 4,” Mr. Smith says. “As I grew up I searched for role models in all the history I read. And I’ve tried to model my life on Marshall’s leadership.”

What Mr. Smith liked most about Marshall, he says, was that he was “unassuming, and wasn’t interested in self-aggrandizement, the way, say, MacArthur was. In a way, I’d say, Marshall was the best president we never had.”

As doyen of American CEOs, Mr. Smith has a view from the pinnacle of U.S. business that scarcely anyone can match. After nearly 50 years at the helm of FedEx, he can remember times when American political discourse wasn’t “this balkanized electronic thing, where no one compromises.” His service with the Marines left him with the enduring belief that his country is a force for good—and that a Pax Americana is part of the natural global order. This American peace, he believes, is about more than just preventing war. “It means trade as much as you can and make the world open for commerce. Trade helped to lift 600 million Chinese out of abject poverty. Somebody’s got to defend it.”

Mother Lode, way up thread:
Chomsky was important in holding to the theory that human language is different from communication, that language is an innate, hard-wired human capacity such that, eg, one does not teach a child the language for the child acquires any without learning and can enact extremely complex linguistic tasks. His analysis of deep grammar went some way to illustrate that human language is very different from that of the language of AI. But I think that he is not now held to be a ‘mad dog nativist’ about language, which is a bit of a pity, I think.

Rabz,

What makes the banner even lovelier in my eyes is the very different men that are portrayed. John is about 15 at this time, the youngest of the disciples. Peter is a hard-bitten former fisherman whose life has been utterly turned upside down by the charismatic Jesus.

But more profound is that they have received the news that the tomb was empty* from Mary Magdalene. In other words, the resurrection of the Messiah was not made known first to the rich, powerful, religiously important or socially prominent but to a woman who had been on the utter margins of her society before being loved, healed, restored and redeemed and given a place of female prominence in the Gospels second, I believe, only to Mary.

As the Russians say and said even under Communism:

Declaration: Khristos voskres – Christ is risen.

Response: Voistinu voskres – He is risen indeed.

* I believe that Jesus rose from the dead at sundown the day before on the Jewish Sabbath. There is nothing in Scripture to support His resurrection being on the Sunday morning, only that it was discovered that day. Jesus said he was like Jonah, in the tomb for three days and three nights. No matter how you try and squish time, there are not three days and three nights between Good Friday and Sunday.

It comes down to the word ‘sabbath’ as the followers of Jesus were adamant that they needed to remove His body from the cross before sundown and the start of the sabbath. But this is where the disconnect between Jewish followers of Jesus and their Gentile brethren who came later is most apparent. A ‘sabbath’ did not necessarily fall on a Saturday, although every Saturday was a sabbath. There were various holy days that occurred according to calendar rather than on a weekly basis.

Jesus was crucified and His body removed from the cross and entombed on the Wednesday of the week in which He died. His three days and three nights are completed at sundown of the Saturday. Faithful and beloved Mary arrives at the tomb on Sunday morning, only to find it is already empty.

Different issue, he justifies capital punishment. Earlier today I posted a link about a US psychologist arguing the trans thing has become too trendy and dangerous, a position I agree with. If we’re going to examine criminality in trans we’ll need better data.

Its the definitive data now: let me repeat:

Comparisons of official MOJ statistics from March / April 2019 (most recent
official count of transgender prisoners):
76 sex offenders out of 129 transwomen = 58.9%
125 sex offenders out of 3812 women in prison = 3.3%
13234 sex offenders out of 78781 men in prison =
16.8%

What do we get; 3 times as many trans were likely to have been sex offenders then the non-trans male prison population; 3 times, 300%. That’s definitive. The only further info we need is how many of the trans(wo)men sexually offend when they get into the female prison estate.

Deves was right. Scomo was right in supporting her. The challenge is to not back peddle any further. I’ll be sending that study to her. On the other issue of mutilation she was exactly right. The challenge for her is to be passionate but controlled and not emotional.

Drive me mental’: Emma Alberici lashes federal election reporting

James Madden
Media Editor
Sophie Elsworth

Memo to the scores of journalists working around-the-clock on the federal election circus: former ABC chief economics correspondent Emma Alberici says your reporting ain’t up to scratch.

Alberici, who earlier this month popped up as MC at the campaign launch of high-profile independent candidate Allegra Spender, reckons the blanket media coverage of Anthony Albanese’s gaffe-a-thon last week was superficial.

“We are looking at politics in a way that tells you more when someone has done a gaffe (sic), and you know, it drives me mental,” she told the Melbourne Press Club during its online forum last week titled ‘Resilience and Reinvention After Upheaval’.

Of course, Alberici is no stranger to the art of the spectacular economic gaffe herself, having infamously confused revenue and profit in 2018 in a report that then Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull described as “one of the most confused and poorly researched articles I’ve seen on this topic”.

But putting Alberici’s “gaffe-solidarity” with Albo to one side, it was the former Lateline host’s comments about the apparent journalistic cowardice of some of her erstwhile colleagues at the ABC that had seasoned media veterans picking their jaws up off the floor.

Alberici said ever since the Coalition returned to power back in 2013 under the prime ministership of Tony Abbott, the ABC has “been captured by the government, and have been pretty much (that way) for the last nine years”.

“Funnily enough, I was there for 18 years and the last sort of seven to nine have been really obviously different,” she said.

“They (the ABC) have become quite timid in the face of relentless attacks from the government.”

Now, ABC’s political journos don’t always get it right, but “timid” towards the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison governments? Diary thinks not.

Who could forget chief political correspondent Laura Tingle’s late-night tweet back in 2020, accusing Scott Morrison of “ideological bastardry”?

Or the Four Corners take-downs of Cabinet ministers Christian Porter and Alan Tudge?

Alberici helpfully suggested that political reporting should focus on policy issues of substance.

“I’d love someone in this election campaign to really have a look at what’s going on with the NBN and what it really costs,” Alberici said.

“But no-one has time for it because they are too busy watching Scott Morrison wash someone’s hair.”

During the MPC zoom event, Alberici also touched on her acrimonious departure from the national broadcaster in 2020.

Declaring that she did “every single role” at Aunty, Alberici said to be shown the door was “shocking and insulting”.

When asked by the event’s host, Andrew Dodd, the University of Melbourne’s director of the Centre for Advancing Journalism, whether her redundancy was “involuntary or voluntary”, Alberici replied: “It was a mix of both”.

Franx,

What we have is a clear case of people having received Good Friday as the day Jesus was crucified because of traditional church teachings and then working backwards to make His own words as being like Jonah (three days, three nights) somehow fit.

They don’t.

So either the King of the universe (yes, I like the Jewish title very much) somehow is chronologically confused or humans have latched onto a particular tradition and are now manipulating Scripture to make it make sense.

Why is this figurative? I think Jesus spoke pretty plainly.

They are Saint John and Saint Peter, Rabz.

Racing to check out the empty tomb.

John was the first to arrive but stood outside, Peter caught up and was the first to run into the empty tomb. Little insights like that give us an understanding of the Apostles, John being perhaps more athletic whereas Peter made up for that with, I don’t know, boldness?, audaciousness?

The seating arrangement at the last Passover Seder shows us that John will lead (the Prince?) of the Tribe of Ephraim (primarily, the Angles), and Peter will be the Prince of Judah.

The thirteen Apostles will judge (lead, govern) the thirteen Tribes in the Messianic era. The original twelve Apostles had Paul added later, similarly Manasseh became the thirteenth Tribe at a later date than the other Tribes. They most likely will return with Yahoshua to act as the inner cabinet, the 72 “others” mentioned by Luke will be subordinate to them and will govern the 72* nations in the era to come, the “outer cabinet”.

Subordinate to them will be a third group, yet to be appointed. Each of the 72 will have 1,000 Priests and 1,000 Kings (local rulers), the 72 x ( 1,000 + 1,000) = 144,000 from all the Tribes of Israel.

*I think that the Jewish scholars talk of 70 nations in the world to come based on the Masoretic record of the souls who went down to Egypt, whereas the Septuagint Bible mentions 72. I tend to put more faith in the Septuagint Bible as that’s the Bible Yahoshua used during his earthly stay.

?However, the Kiev nationalist regime, according to the radio intercept, forbade negotiations on surrender, ordering Azov Nazis to shoot on sight any willing to lay down arms among Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries.

?In total, according to the Ukrainian servicemen who surrendered, up to 400 foreign mercenaries are now encircled on the territory of Azovstal plant as part of the Ukrainian grouping.

?Most of them are citizens of European countries as well as Canada. We previously reported that radio conversations between militants in Mariupol were conducted in six foreign languages. In the case of further resistance, they will all be eliminated.

Luzu, I have not studied nor am I familiar with the timeline, yet time is figurative in Scripture. I mean, I don’t quite know why three days, and not four, although just saying so now makes four not quite right, unlike three. Jonah spent three days in the whale, yet an understanding of this event itself requires more than just considering that a man was inside a whale for three days. Some numbers signify sanctity, wholeness, perfection. You raise some interesting points, though. I think Origen was pretty cluey about how to read certain events both for their figurative as well as for their informative, instructive meaning. I just might, maybe, get around to him, after the Evangelists. So little time.
But about tradition – tradition, too, is a source of truth.

The Greens say China doesn’t pose a threat to Australia and the party has no problem with Solomon Islands’ decision to forge a security partnership with Beijing.

Greens’ peace and disarmament spokesman Jordan Steele-John said Australia’s concern over the Solomons-China agreement was “paternalistic and actually racist”, and that the future of Taiwan was not a direct concern for Australia or the US.

As Labor attempts to neutralise national security as an election issue by matching the Coalition’s defence commitments, the Greens have called for military spending to be slashed and the AUKUS agreement cancelled.

The party wants the nation’s nuclear submarine and hypersonic missile programs to be axed, Pine Gap closed and US marines out of Darwin.

While China has built the region’s largest navy, and deployed missiles on South China Sea islands that can reach Australia, Senator Steele-John said it was Australia’s responsibility to “de-escalate” tensions with Beijing.

“I don’t see China as a military threat to Australia,” he told The Australian.

Senator Steele-John said Labor and the Coalition were “happy to see Australia treated as an American aircraft carrier”, ratcheting up tensions with Beijing.

“The Greens absolutely oppose this. We must have an independent foreign and defence policy, which allows us to work with our neighbours to de-escalate,” he said.

The senator said Australia should also butt out of the affairs of Pacific states, arguing they should be free to “defend their territorial boundaries and build relationships” as they saw fit.

“Peace in our time..”

Interesting theory on PML re Deves – ScoMo knows what he is doing.
He is putting Deves up in Warringah to voice traditional values which will attract old-school labor voters in other seats. She may go down to Zali but will will a net benefit overall.

If that’s true, it’s dishonest and deserves to fail.
He’s treating old school Labor voters like idiots.
Yeah, I know, but …. Scotty From Marketing was a dud, leave tactics and strategy to people who know how to get it done.

A psychiatrist I once knew said the same thing about The Ghey, defining yourself exclusively in terms of the contents of your undergarments and what you choose to do with them is abnormal.

Most gays and lesbians I know don’t actually do that. It seems to be just the “activists” i.e. the perpetually aggrieved (whether about LGBTQWERTY or “climate” or anything else). We’re having the whole of our society hijacked by a minority within a minority.

That is also my experience. The same with indigenous people.

Albo gets the “Let’s go Brandon” treatment? Could be a long 6 weeks for Wayne Goosesteen and the Liars brain trust. Maybe the Parramatta RSL and some Mummybloggers.
