No, the real analogy would be Scotland Island.
Hopefully that applies to the polls pointing to a Hunchback landslide.
Is the government going to enforce that against campers?
Who knows. They used to chainsaw bits of the timber deck off my sisters bridge without to much concern.
Toilet cistern in the West Wing leaking.
Replaced all the seals in the cistern.
I had a leak coupla weeks ago .. being “houso” rang in the repair .. bloke who came out didn’t muck about just yanked the entire cistern unit out and replaced it .. took all of 10 minutes .. no interest in replacing a leaking gasket/rubber when it’s tax payers money involved , I guess! .. LOL!
The most instructive thing about the Martha’s Vineyard story is that it took only 2 days for MA Gov to call in the National Guard and have the illegals moved to Cape Cod.
mUnty, you should realise that the best visits to Rottnest Island are when you never set foot on it and are safely back in the bar at RFBYC.
So you are saying, Roger, that one of the largest polling companies and the WEF are lying?
That’s unthunkably unthunkable!

HUGE First Amendment Win For Texas, Ken Paxton and All Americans!

Today in Federal Court, Attorney General Ken Paxton and the American people scored a huge victory regarding censorship and banning of individuals based on their viewpoint. The Gateway Pundit is also involved in a free speech lawsuit of their own in Missouri v. Biden. This victory from AG Paxton will certainly help TGP’s case moving forward.
At a push you might take the tender round to Thompsons and go to the pub.
The next question is why are they lying?
Not getting the traction they used to, I’d say.
Rules for thee but not for me: Less than 24 hours after being dumped on the rich, white, liberal heaven of Martha’s Vineyard MA by Florida governor Ron DeSantis, 50 illegal Venezuelan immigrants were removed to a nearby military base like yesterday’s trash by the National Guard on the orders of the local Democrat state governor. Tucker Carlson Tonight.
How will this effect bloggers and other platforms?
No one has a right to other peoples platforms.
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is a Republican, you blithering idiots.
We know there are lunatics out there, mainly from the left, and alarmists being at the head of the queue; consider this proposal to cure AGW:
On the other hand, nothing significant has been done to mitigate climate change via atmospheric means, even through various techniques have been suggested under the name of geoengineering. Enter volcanos, which have already demonstrated one long-term method. For example, the 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo caused a maximum cooling of about a degree, which lasted over a year.
While we cannot trigger volcanos to do our bidding, we do have relatively low cost heavy-lift rockets that could be used to deliver similarly reflective particles into the atmosphere/stratosphere to cause global cooling. Volcanologists have developed models that reasonably describe the aftermath of volcanic eruptions, so human attempts to mimic the cooling effects could be intelligently guided and would certainly be better optimized than the explosive eruptions of volcanos.
Why do such a project quickly? If we were to wait and launch related research programs, we might have better-thought-out options, but a dramatic demonstration would be delayed, and current mixed and extraordinarily expensive and disruptive terrestrial mitigation efforts would continue.
Recent estimates of the cost of a global forced energy transition exceed $30 trillion just through 2030. The geoengineering initiative we propose would cost infinitesimally less. If it succeeds, the world would save an enormous amount of money and avoid harmful disruptions to global energy systems. If it fails, the cost would be in the statistical noise of the alternative solutions.
Be warned: There will be intense opposition to this proposal. Environmentalists and renewable energy advocates will detest it because it threatens to obviate the need for a rapid and drastic “energy transition” away from fossil fuels, which is very much their mantra. Extensive opposition can also be expected from numerous special interest groups and industries currently salivating over the expenditures of trillions of dollars per year on alternative energy programs.

One said to the other three “People are always coming to us with their guilt and fears, but we have no one that we can go to when we have problems”.
The others agreed.
Then one said “Since we are all professionals, why don’t we take some time right now to hear each other out?”
The other three agreed.
The first then confessed “I have an uncontrollable desire to kill my patients”.
The second psychiatrist said “I love expensive things and so I find ways to cheat my patients out of their money whenever I can so I can buy the things I want”.
The third followed with “I’m involved with selling drugs and often get my patients to sell them for me”.

Pre-covid when I worked at 101 Collins Street there was an old guy named Theo whose job was to polish the stone tile floors every night after about 7.00 pm.
He had migrated here from Greece in the 1960’s and worked every day since.
When he was about 19 he’d saved enough money for the deposit for a house. When he went to the bank they told him it was illegal to lend to someone under 21. The bank manager spoke to him for a while, then wrote down a fake birth date to him and approved the loan*.
Last time I saw him pre-covid he was living on an acre in Templestowe and owned four other properties, but was still working (two jobs) because he enjoyed being busy.
* I know, bankers faking things has led to a lot of disasters, but in this case it worked out fine.

No, the monarch has no right to dictate the succession.
The succession is prescribed by legislation, the Act of Settlement. Any variation to that would require Parliamentary approval (and probably approval from all the other countries like Australia where the monarch is Head of State – not sure quite what those rules are).
The only reason Edward VIII’s brother became King on the abdication was that Edward VII had no children (or at least no legitimate children).

One day a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach, with his fishing pole propped up in the sand and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf.
He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish.
About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to relieve some of the stress of his workday. He noticed the fisherman sitting on the beach and decided to find out why this fisherman was fishing instead of working harder to make a living for himself and his family.
“You aren’t going to catch many fish that way” said the businessman to the fisherman “you should be working rather than lying on the beach!”
The fisherman looked up at the businessman, smiled and replied “And what will my reward be?” “Well, you can get bigger nets and catch more fish!” was the businessman’s answer.
“And then what will my reward be?” asked the fisherman, still smiling. The businessman replied “You will make money and you’ll be able to buy a boat, which will then result in larger catches of fish!”
“And then what will my reward be?” asked the fisherman again. The businessman was beginning to get a little irritated with the fisherman’s questions. “You can buy a bigger boat, and hire some people to work for you!” he said.
“And then what will my reward be?” repeated the fisherman. The businessman was getting angry. “Don’t you understand? You can build up a fleet of fishing boats, sail all over the world, and let all your employees catch fish for you!”
Once again, the fisherman asked “And then what will my reward be?” The businessman was red with rage and shouted at the fisherman “Don’t you understand that you can become so rich that you will never have to work for your living again! You can spend all the rest of your days sitting on this beach, looking at the sunset. You won’t have a care in the world!”
The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said “And what do you think I’m doing right now?”

If not posted previously, the official press version, out of China Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
Xi Jinping Meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin
President Xi noted that since the beginning of this year, China and Russia have maintained effective strategic communication. Bilateral cooperation in the various fields has moved forward steadily, with activities of the Year of Sports?Exchange well underway, and a robust momentum?in sub-national cooperation and people-to-people exchange. The two countries have maintained close coordination on the international stage to uphold basic norms of?international relations. In the face of changes of the world, of our times and of history, China will?work with Russia to fulfil their responsibilities as major countries and play a leading role in injecting stability into a world of change and disorder.
“President Xi?emphasised that China will work?with Russia to extend strong mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests, and deepen practical cooperation in trade, agriculture, connectivity and other areas. The two sides?need to enhance coordination and cooperation under multilateral frameworks including?the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the BRICS?to promote solidarity?and mutual trust among the various parties, expand practical cooperation, and safeguard the security interests of the region as well as the common interests of the developing countries and emerging markets.
President Putin wished the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) a full success and believed that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China will keep making new achievements in economic and social development.
President Putin noted that the world is undergoing multiple changes, yet the only thing that remains unchanged is the friendship and mutual trust between Russia and China. The Russia-China?comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination is as stable as mountains. Both Russia and China stand for a more equitable and reasonable international order, setting a fine example in international relations.
The Russian?side is firmly committed to the one-China principle and condemns the provocative moves by individual countries on issues concerning China’s core interests.
Russia will consolidate and deepen bilateral and multilateral communication and collaboration with China and expand cooperation in key areas such as trade and energy. Russia will work with China to promote continued, deeper cooperation among the SCO member states based on the principle of non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, so as to build an authoritative platform for upholding regional security and stability.
President Xi appreciated Russia’s adherence to the one-China principle, stressing that Taiwan is part of China, the Chinese side firmly opposes the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces and external interference, and no country is entitled to act as a judge on the Taiwan question.
Don’t think the West has much to do with these two conflicts. Unless you count Turkey as part of the West.

The video of this actually very interesting. The Duran had a good discussion about Wagner PMC yesterday. Alexander basically argued that it really isn’t a PMC, but is effectively a quasi-state military force. He thinks its something like the French Foreign Legion and will eventually be recognized as part of the RuAF. I imagine that the Romans recruited in such a manner and demanded the strict discipline he mentions once accepted.
BTW, I don’t think this indicates the hard sell of full mobilization. The Wagner formations are arguably some of the best operating currently. They took the fortifications in Poposna and they breakthroughs that made the situation in Severdonetsk and Lyssichansk impossible, and are now completing the same operation in Bahkmut. They are very likely here replenishing losses as well as expanding their formations.

Besides, there is nothing happening. All is within the historical record in this interglacial and the last one (Eemian) was a fair bit warmer. We had nothing to do with that. Nor with the temperature variations in this interglacial (Holocene) which occurred before we burned any significant quantities of fossil fuels. Any definite link between temperature rise (doubtful given the way the record has been “adjusted” and poor siting of thermometers) and fossil fuel burning has not been demonstrated.

Every even semi-sentient being accepts that the climate changes. It has for millenia, and will continue to change for millenia in the future.
The key questions are the ones that the alarmists are unable to respond to other than with more over-cooked computer models. First, what proportion of recent change is Anthropogenic? The alarmists would have you believe that it is 100%, but they have no real evidence. Second, to what extent is it Catastrophic? The evidence so far, as measured, not modelled, is that it has been nett beneficial.
But please feel free to offer some actual evidence in response to those two questions.

Blair’s Law on steroids.
Lowbrow racism on New Catallaxy now?
Sun Tzu says a teacher on a pension plus superannuation has no right to tell others to sacrifice.
This site is also bad ass.

It’s same old with bonus masks then Calli.
East Asians, whilst being obedient low T conformists [until they aren’t]
do tend to be socially responsible.
We all know the Vaccinated shed Spike Proteins until the shot wears off, so it’s nice of them to at least wear a mask in public.
No racism, Grigs, but an observation of herd behaviour. And the stupidity that is the facemask.
It is probably culturally driven – masks are prevalent and acceptable in most asian countries and communities. Carpe would have a good handle on the phenomenon in Japan for instance.
Oddly enough, once the eating and conversation has finished in the densely packed dining room, the masks remain off. Until they get in the lift. Danger!
As for the FOMO, anyone who has observed this behaviour knows what I mean. You should get out more.
It’s as predictable as the sunrise.
If you’re speaking of a certain Veteran of the SE Asian heroin wars, bespook, his asset worth would disqualify him from the Age Pension.
I thought FOMO receded with age, a little bit at least. Perhaps less so when the buffet is concerned.
They do fee for service work in places like Central African Republic and Mali. I think they also do security for merchant ships, but that’s only a recollection. The Foreign Legion didn’t do that.
It makes sense to have a unit that you can hire out, yet is part of the national OoB. Saves money and provides experience. Wagner is of course a bit fruity though, and their track record hasn’t exactly been lily-white. But the arguments for having such a formation are good, if you don’t mind a bit of reputational damage from time to time.
An analogy might be the mercenary formations of the Harmonies in Gordon Dickson’s novel Soldier Ask Not. Like Wagner they were national armed forces who were rented out to save money. That trilogy* is a very fine military science fiction series.
* Tactics of Mistake/Soldier Ask Not/Dorsai! They’re part of a wider series but fit extremely well as a trilogy, so that’s what I always call it. 😀
After fees, index funds perform better.
No one enjoyed Donovan’s “Universal Soldier”? Colour me shocked.
An observation – the vast majority of people “for” war have never been in a shoe sale scrummage, let alone seen a shot fired in anger.
I noticed that years ago during some rather hair raising riots in the Highlands – all the gung-ho guys scarpered once the mobs changed direction. To our house, as it turned out. It was left to the Beloved to defend his family and staff with the only weapons he had – a big, scary body and an extremely foul mouth. 😀

Did you mean this type of lowbrow racism?
Ed Case!
Where have you been, climbing Everest?
They never surprise on the downside, do they?
This is a universal truth. Just ask my sleepyhead companions who are now foraging through the plundered bain maries for something…anything.
😀
Setting aside whether that is only way anyone can have anything to do with a conflict, have you actually looked at their inventory?
Aha, Monty only just found out where it was on a map today.
Ohhh!!!
Shots fired!
TBH, I want Russia to win. Not because I support their invasion, but because I want the USA and EU woketards to lose.

It wasn’t paywalled for me.
At business insider.
Confirm not paywalled for me – have downloaded very interesting business approach for AirBnb
Woke is basically part of the old USSR demoralisation campaign and one does not get to be a KGB colonel like Putin without a hatred of capitalism and America/the West.
You don’t want Putin to win.
Sure, but I said like not identical. What might happen is that the larger portion is integrated into the RuAF while a rump is left as a PMC. Who knows?
This is very convenient for the West.
Air BnBs are great – unless you live next door to one.
They are a big problem at the Bay – permanent residents (ie. homeowners) have to deal with idiots, wild parties, and general mayhem during holiday season. I have friends who are considering selling up and moving to a quieter location because of this nightmare.
Um, fucken what?
Dover – The other thing that works for Wagner is that they can offer higher salaries without that flowing on to the rest of the armed forces. So they’ve been luring back retired pilots for example, by offering juicy payments. Yes they have a private air force now. And likewise they can recruit warm bodies from places that the Russian conventional units can’t – Syria particularly.
The other thing is Russia is flush with cash right now, so can pay the extra costs of this model.
I’m not sure of their value as a unit however, since expanding rapidly without commensurate training is a recipe for cannon fodder.
You’d probably have to go back quite a way in history to find a similar model. Swiss guards maybe, or perhaps the Italian condottieri.
If things go especially feral around the world we could see actual mercenary formations back in vogue. There’re a lot of veterans on the scrapheap in the US, for example, from the vax mandates and filtering the unwoke out of the armed forces. They’ll quite likely find themselves work in PMCs.
Massachusetts really is a fucked place. How could anyone with a smidgen of decency or intelligence elect BOTH Warren filth and Markey filth to the US senate.
Good n hard….
Once seen, can’t be unseen.
The Fifth Beatle.
“a hatred of capitalism and America/the West.
You don’t want Putin to win.”
Maybe…but we’ve got many here among us, who infest our institutions and our media outlets, who have a hatred of capitalism and the West.
I don’t want them to win either, but you know what? They are winning.

Two women were playing golf.
One teed off and watched in horror as her ball headed directly toward a foursome of men playing the next hole.
The ball hit one of the men, and he immediately clasped his hands together at his groin, fell to the ground and proceeded to roll around in agony.
The women rushed down to the man and immediately began to apologise.
“Please allow me to help. I’m a physical therapist and I know I could relieve your pain if you’d allow me” she told him. “Oh, no, I’ll be all right. I’ll be fine in a few minutes” the man replied, still in pain, in the foetal position, still clasping his hands together in his groin.
But she persisted, and he finally allowed her to help.
She gently took his hands away and laid them to the side, she loosened his trousers,
and put her hands inside.
She began to massage him. She then asked “How does that feel?” “It feels great” he replied “But my thumb still hurts like hell!”

Agree.
It kept the useful idiots busy then too.
The mistake is assuming that the U.S. Military capability is kaput because of Admirals wearing dresses and Lesbians crashing battleships.
They’re masters of CounterInsurgency and Terrorism going back at least to Sherman’s March Thru Georgia and they’ve kept in practice since.

“Our intrepid reporters were misled on a few details.
However, the substance of the story was newsworthy against a background of serious misconduct in politics (wink, nudge, we didn’t get Laming this time, but he’s definitely the type).

Fuck you all.”
Umm, yep. They’ll justify it because Laming ticks the following boxes…he’s white, he’s male and he’s a Liberal.
A lot is being made of a “mass grave” in Donbass.
The graves are in rows, and the bodies buried therein appear to have been wrapped in cloth. A cross marks each grave.
If this is evidence of a war crime, it is a very strange one. I can’t comment further, because I don’t know enough.
He was protecting a coupla Cardinals who were Red Hot pederasts,
then there is his sordid history carrying water for the Argentine Generals during the “Dirty War”.
Peron liked ’em young and so did The Generals.
If you demand proof, it shouldn’t be hard to dig up, so why don’t you do the work yourself?
Sure.
Sure I’ll just start interrogating dead Argentinian Generals.

A lady walks into a car dealership and browses around. Suddenly she spots the most perfect, beautiful car and walks over to inspect it. As she bends forward to feel the fine leather upholstery, an unexpected little fart escapes her. Very embarrassed, she anxiously looks around to see if anyone has noticed and hopes a salesperson doesn’t pop up right now. As she turns back, there standing next to her, is a salesman. With a pleasant smile he greets her “Good day, madam. How may we help you today?” Trying to maintain an air of sophistication and acting as though nothing had happened, she smiles back and asks “Sir, what is the price of this lovely vehicle?” Still smiling pleasantly, he replies “Madam, I’m very sorry to say that if you farted just touching it, you’re going to going to shit yourself when you hear the price”.
Ed fondles cats inappropriately, while resting atop a seatless bicycle. He is also founder and CEO of Monkeypox Aficionados Australia (MAA).
If anyone would like to dispute these assertions, they should find the proof themselves as it shouldn’t be too hard to dig up.
TIL – from Dr Mark Felton
Tokyo Rise was actually innocent and an Australian POW officer (Major Cousens) helped write her scripts, they were meant to be so over the top they’d actually boost allies morale.
That worked and Ford eventually pardoned her for the one crime she was convicted of in a crooked trial.
She wasn’t evil at all. She was an all American gal flirting with the troops.

I think they might be talking about Izyum in Kharkov oblast, Calli. But, yes, you are right. It is very strange to bury those massacred in plots, wrapped in cloth, and a cross marking the site, often accompanied by a number, photo, or name. I do believe, though, that some soldiers may have been buried in a common grave, but as in July in Severodonetsk, they probably got something like the following burial.
There is a rather good thread on this here that also looks back to material in earlier months that might shed light on the matter.
What gets me though is that they seem to be exhuming the above graves for propaganda purposes. Earlier in the week the UK Daily Telegraph had a reporter in situ saying that their interviews with locals offered nothing in the way of some earlier massacre. In fact, the reporter said that the civilians and the soldiers largely kept to themselves.
For some reason yesterday I woke up with Brian Ferry bouncing around in my head. It was a track from In Your Mind. So after Dot’s intro how can I not put up this one?

Maybe Bird is lurking, to get a dose of Ferry.
Nooo. They would never.
Here’s a question that ought to be answered in some way.
If Trump was President – okay he still is – and was still in the White House and the short, Russian grub had attacked Ukraine – what would have been the American response? No, don’t answer if you going say that Rasputin wouldn’t have tried it on.
In my opinion, Trump would have been far more aggressive than Demented.

He certainly would have been in a position to, because he wouldn’t have gutted America’s own energy supplies, would have about $85 billion more of military hardware (that’s now in the hands of the Taliban) and would have a vibrant industrial base to support whatever action he took.
Trump was unpredictable, so a guess and a little wishful thinking on my part.
Told them he’s not getting involved.
Rember he did campaign as an anti-interventionalist.

Excellent reply, Tim. You have nailed it.
But sorry, JC, it’s the truth: Putin would not have invaded if Trump had been in the WH.
I’m not. Not at the moment, anyway.
Exactly, Gez.

A virile, young Italian man was relaxing at his favourite bar in Rome, when he managed to attract the attention of a spectacular young blonde.
Things progressed to the point where he invited her back to his apartment, and after some small talk, they retired to his bedroom for sex.
After a pleasant interlude, he asked with a smile “So… you finish?” She paused for a second, frowned, and replied “No”.
Surprised, the young man reached for her and the love-making resumed. This time she thrashes about wildly and there are screams of passion.
The love-making ends, and again, the young man smiles, and again he asks “You finish?” And again, after a short pause, she returns his smile, cuddles closer to him, and softly says “No”.
Stunned, but damned if this woman is going to outlast him, the young man reaches for the woman again. Using the last of his strength, he barely manages it, but they climax simultaneously, screaming, bucking, clawing and ripping the bed sheets.
The exhausted man falls onto his back, gasping. Barely able to turn his head, he looks into her eyes, smiles proudly, and asks again “You finish?”
Barely able to speak, she whispers in his ear “No, I Norwegian!”
Buddles appears to have recovered from his “mental ‘elf issues”.
I thought he went quiet when JC started talking about lawyering up over doxing.
