God saved Essendon from Andrew Thorburn
Joe AstonColumnist

The appointment of former National Australia Bank boss Andrew Thorburn as the CEO of Essendon Football Club landed like a turd in the punch bowl.

The fierce indignation centred on Thorburn’s extracurricular role as the chairman of a church that espouses Old Testament views of homosexuality as a “sexual immorality” and compares abortion to the Holocaust. “Absolutely appalling” is how Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews described these attitudes on Tuesday, and himself as a “disappointed Essendon supporter”.

That’s low-hanging fruit, to be sure, but Thorburn’s fire and brimstone side hustle has completely overshadowed two other preposterous ingredients of this story: first, the way in which Thorburn finagled the gig; and second, the Essendon board’s collective delusion in believing him “a man of great integrity and exceptional vision”.

Late on Tuesday, Thorburn resigned just 24 hours into his commission. Earlier in the day, he was defending how “my faith has helped me become a better leader”.

“That’s really what I want people to look at, look at my actions, look at my words as a leader and the organisations I’ve created…”

His last organisation charged customers – including dead ones – more than $650 million in fees for no service, then in the witness stand he tried to dismiss it as carelessness.

This man of great integrity was so soundly flayed by the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry that he was forced to resign immediately upon the release of its final report.

It caused commissioner Kenneth Hayne some umbrage that “Mr Thorburn sought to assert that no one knew this was happening. The money just kept ‘falling into NAB’s pocket’… He sought to portray the charging of fees for no service as a product of poor systems and carelessness. It was, in his words, ‘just professional negligence’… I cannot and do not accept this.”

‘Rotten culture’
Hayne found that “NAB also stands apart from the other three major banks. Having heard from both the CEO, Mr Thorburn, and the chair, Dr [Ken] Henry… I was not persuaded that NAB is willing to accept the necessary responsibility for deciding, for itself, what is the right thing to do, and then having its staff act accordingly … Overall, my fear – that there may be a wide gap between the public face NAB seeks to show and what it does in practice – remains.”

This is unequivocally the description of an unethical organisation whose rotten culture flowed down from the very top.

On Monday, Essendon president David Barham boasted that, “to my knowledge, no other AFL club has ever secured the services of an ASX-listed top 10 company CEO to run its club”.

Barham omitted a key adjective here. Thorburn is a disgraced former ASX 10 company CEO. No other AFL club has ever secured the services of a disgraced former ASX 10 company CEO for the very good reason that no other AFL club has ever sought to.

How was it, precisely, that Essendon secured Thorburn’s services? Melbourne’s Herald Sun reported on August 27 that Thorburn had been engaged by Essendon to “conduct an independent review … which will focus on”, among other things, “the appointment of a new CEO”.

That’s right, Thorburn did at Essendon Football Club in 2022 precisely what David Gonski did at the Future Fund in 2012 and what Dick Cheney did in 2000 as chairman of George W. Bush’s vice-presidential search committee: he used his position as the headhunter to win the job for himself.

Thorburn even interviewed other (unsuspecting) candidates for the role – memorising the best parts of their pitches, no doubt! – before declaring himself a candidate. How is that ethical?!

Essendon is obviously sensitive about the dreadful optics here, given its torturous explanation of how Thorburn went from refereeing the race to raising the trophy.

You also couldn’t expect Thorburn to fix Essendon’s historically scandalous culture. This is the same guy whose chief of staff defrauded NAB of $5 million without him having a clue. The judge said he found it “absolutely staggering that those frauds were not detected by some appropriate system of internal auditing”.

It is a striking reality that in football today, being on the wrong side of diversity and inclusion issues is considered a far bigger black mark on a person than their questionable integrity or their record of ripping people off.

Barham is quite clearly out of his depth. His first press conference as president – defending the sacking of coach Ben Rutten – goes down as one of the worst in AFL history.

But Essendon is a weird club full of deeply weird people. Thorburn would’ve fit right in.

Of course the Greens don’t care if EVs only by 2030/2035 is dumb and impractical.

They hate cars, ordinary people (like me) and the country folk (who need reliable cars capable of long distances and towing).

It’s like how they don’t care if solar energy has a fairly low upper limit. It is their religion that everyone is forced to live like druids.

They would love it if 90% of us went back to Sancho the Donkey or Shanks’ Pony.

System black event in Bangladesh.

Power Grid Collapse In Bangladesh Leaves 140 Million People In Dark (5 Oct)

Bangladesh’s national power grid collapsed Tuesday afternoon, plunging 140 million people, or nearly everyone in the country, into darkness, AFP reported.

Prices of energy as well as food as other staples have soared worldwide in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, including in Asia.

This has wrought havoc on Bangladesh’s electricity grid in recent months, with utilities struggling to source enough diesel and gas to meet demand.

Better get your act together Bangla government peoples or you might have a revolution on your hands. The denizens of countries like yours can get quite excitable sometimes, especially when fuel prices rise.

Electric Hummers, Dot. Teslas are old hat.

Man Plugs $80k+ Electric Truck Into His House, Finds Out It Will Take Over 4 Days to Charge (1 Oct)

You’ve gone green and you’ve done it in style with the GMC Hummer, starting at $86,645. That’s right — the Hummer’s now a green vehicle!

The video begins with standard 120V charging — or Level 1 charging, to use official jargon. This is the standard current your home already offers.

“Right now it’s about 6 p.m. on Tuesday,” the man says. “And it says it will be full by Saturday at 10:55 [p.m.], which is four-plus days of charging. Wow.”

To be fair, however, this won’t be how most Hummer owners will be charging their vehicle. Level 2 chargers are upgraded home stations which deliver a significantly higher amount of electricity than your regular home circuit would be able to deliver — but they require special equipment and installation.

That’s from Surber today. Even the level 2 charger took 24 hours. And with a few of those in your area you might plug in your Hummer only fry to the transformer at the end of your street.

Interesting on how the entertainment industry and the do reporters attitudes to life differs. The entertainment industry would insult athletes, haven’t a brain in their head, being coached by Ron hiltler Barassi and on and on and on.
The entertainment industry does not like the sports industry and continues its smearing of the sports industry, why because you have to try, you have to work at it – the entertainment game does not like this.

Learning something, every day (the Tele):

Meghan Markle has taken aim at Mike Myers’ Austin Powers and Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill for portraying “over sexualised or aggressive … caricatures” of Asian women in the decades-old films.

The Duchess of Sussex was joined by American comedian Margaret Cho and journalist Lisa Ling to discuss how many women of Asian descent, like them, are stereotyped in everyday life and on the silver screen.

Sparkles BoltOns is Asian now. Bleck Asian lady. She describes going to a Korean spa with her mum, seeing naked Asian women there, then eating noodles and then having Asian stigma. A profound analysis of noggies in film follows:

“The Dragon Lady, the East Asian temptress whose mysterious foreign allure is scripted as both tantalising and deadly,” she continued.

“This has seeped into a lot of our entertainment. Movies like Austin Powers and Kill Bill — they presented these caricatures of women of Asian descent as oversexualised or aggressive.”

Tip for Megs: Every character in both of those movies is a caricature.

“This toxic stereotyping of women of Asian descent … this doesn’t just end once the credits roll.”

Markle just outed herself as a Tiger Mom. Good work, Markle-san.

Because it’s written by a line-and-length media lefty, it fails mention the story’s most important point: Thorburn was chairman of the committee tasked with finding a new club CEO.

I don’t know much about Thorburn, and nothing about Essendon – yes, people like me exist.

But with regards the first charge, the one about homosexuality: Does Thornburn’s church really expound the view that they should be killed?

With regards the second: I take it the author disapproves of this characterisation. Which is a little dishonest, in my opinion. You might think it overwrought, you might think it tasteless, but can he not consider that some people consider the systemic slaughter of innocents merely because their are inconvenient to recommend itself to the comparison? If you are arguing style rather than ‘systemic’, ‘slaughter’ and ‘innocent’ (or however people that make the comparison justify it) then you are sort of conceding it may well be valid and have had to resort to a side issue – the triviality of which highlights what it does not address.

Besides, is it The Holocaust (i.e. the Shoah), or merely a holocaust as in sacrifice by complete burning as practiced by the Romans, Greeks, and I believe it is in the Talmud as well.

If education wasn’t so shitty they could make a reference to Moloch, but most people would assume it was a video game.

Devout Catholic mother and vicar’s wife who has been praised by JK Rowling ‘is arrested by police at her home and has her electronic devices seized over series of ‘malicious’ posts uploaded to chat forum KiwiFarms’

She tweeted: ‘I know it’s procedure, but one minute I am cooking some roast chicken for dinner, the next I am having my socks searched for drugs, because of “insulting posts on the internet.”

‘It’s scary that the police can take someone’s word for something and just come and arrest you. All they could say is “we’ve had an allegation which needs to be investigated”‘.

Sentences for those found guilty under the Malicious Communications Act can be as long as two years.

Mrs Farrow, who once complained of her life being ‘invaded and dominated by insane trans rights activists’, has previously been publicly supported by Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

Mrs Farrow was investigated by the same police force in 2019 over allegations she had used the wrong pronoun to describe a transgender woman.

A new guy in town walks into a bar and notices a large jar filled to the brim with $10 bills.

The man approaches the bartender and asks “What’s up with the jar?” “Well, you pay $10, and if you pass three tests, then you get all the money”.

“What are the three tests?” asks the man. “Gotta pay first”.

So the guy gives him the $10 bucks, and the bartender adds it to the jar.

“OK, here’s what you have to do. First, you have to drink that whole bottle of pepper tequila -the WHOLE thing at once- and you can’t make a face while doing it. Second, there’s a pit bull chained up out back with a sore tooth. You have to remove the tooth with your bare hands. Third, there is a 90-year-old woman upstairs who’s never had an orgasm in her life. You gotta make things right for her”.

“Well, I know I’ve paid my $10 bucks” says the man “but I’m not an idiot. No wonder you’ve collected so much money – that’s impossible!”

The new guy proceeds to drink several whiskeys, and eventually, he gets up his nerve.

“Wherez zat teeqeelah?” he slurs. He grabs the bottle of pepper tequila with both hands and downs it, gulp by gulp! Tears are streaming down his cheeks, but he doesn’t make a face.

Next, he staggers out back. Everyone in the bar hears a huge scuffle outside – barking, yelping and growling, then silence.

Just when they think the man must be dead, he staggers back into the bar with his shirt ripped and gashes across his body.

“NOW” he says “wherez at ol’ lady with the sore tooth?”

There is a type of person, who when sufficiently shitfaced, will disrobe – even at the darkest edges of drunkenness. Usually it’s very shortly before all activity ceases for the evening. They won’t realise they are doing it, and don’t remember doing it afterwards.

I had a couple of mates notorious for it. If you had to drag them onto their bed after an evening of refreshment, fully clothed, you’d check on them an hour later to make sure they hadn’t Bon Scotted and they’d be curled up nekkid with their gear thrown everywhere – regardless of background noise or ambient temperature.

The arrest of Konnech’s CEO is significant for a couple of reasons:

The DA didn’t go after a low-level data geek within the company. Doing so would allow the media and the company to claim this was the work of a lone wolf and not a company sponsored policy. Taking down the CEO suggests that the practice of illegally mining data on poll workers came from the top.

LA County is not the only place where Konnech is an election software provider. They have contracts with about two dozen other cities, counties and states. The arrest in LA County puts pressure on other law enforcement agencies to take action. If Konnech has a contract in a jurisdiction and the local police don’t investigate, they’ll appear to be complicit.

If other jurisdictions bring charges against Konnech or its CEO, the timing of the November election becomes problematic.

No wonder the Pfizer CEO declined to appear before an EU parliamentary hearing on the shots. There’s an endless litany of crimes against humanity he must answer for. But what is our excuse for not holding all the people in government and medicine accountable in the U.S.? One could have feigned ignorance in early 2021, but now we are light-years past the threshold for willful misconduct. How much longer will we allow the government to “roll the dice” with the lives of all humanity and even their future offspring?

Three of the nation’s leading medical associations asked President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate and prosecute journalists and parents who are concerned with hospitals and physicians who provide transgender surgeries to minors.

The club was founded by members of the Royal Agricultural Society, the Melbourne Hunt Club and the Victorian Woolbrokers.[5] The Essendon Football Club is thought to have formed in 1872 at a meeting it the home of a well-known brewery family, the McCrackens, whose Ascot Vale property hosted a team of local junior players.[6]

“It’s in Melbourne’s far east and a haven for families, tradies and aspirationals — the far right, in other words.”

“far-right”, code for ordinary Australian voters that the Liberal Party doesn’t want. Again, I will repeat here what Peter Dutton said on Sky News last night when he was asked about CPAC and how some Liberals were heckled…

“there’s an element there of One Nation, Palmer supporters and extreme right elements” that is frankly on the fringe of the political debate”.

In response to Dutton’s offensive, derogatory and belittling remarks, I make the following points….

I’ll start my rant by saying that whilst I understand Dutton’s dismissive tone towards Clive Palmer, Dutton is making a catastrophic mistake by being dismissive of Palmer voters. And what’s his problem with One Nation? The Liberal Party will never ever regain power by putting One Nation last. Here in Wentworth the party disgracefully put One Nation last, behind the Jew hating Greens and the vacuous Princess Allegra da big Spender. I’m sorry, but if you’re going to do that then you don’t deserve to win any seat. Senator Pauline Hanson, in parliament, has always been supportive of most Liberal legislation. And yet the Liberal Party dump on her, just like they dump on longtime Liberal Party voters such as myself. The Labor Party never do this with the Greens. It’s worth reminding people that there was a senate spot in WA the Liberals should have won in May however some genius in Liberal HQ or Morrison himself decided they’d rather put One Nation last, behind Labor and the Greens, and the result? Labor nabbed the senate spot, and we now have a Muslim woman who wears the hijab in parliament. Thanks a million Liberals.

I attended CPAC and I spoke to many, many people. Apart from the celebrity speakers, and those brave “far-right” Liberal and National senators who turned up to speak, such as Senator Price, Antic, Canavan and the sole House of Reps MP, Keith Pitt (a National, no Liberal MP turned up), the conference was full of ordinary far-right Australians, far-right small business owners, far-right retirees, far-right academics, a refreshing number of far-right young people*, all once upon a time Coalition voters. As mentioned in an earlier post, over the course of the weekend I spoke to many and not one person I spoke to put the Liberal Party first in May 2022. I think that’s a damning indictment.

The Liberals who were heckled at CPAC on Sunday afternoon were….

1. Senator Nick Minchin is a man I have a lot of time for and who I spoke to in some depth on Saturday night at the CPAC dinner. Minchin is long retired, he now lives in Queensland where the grass roots of the party is reasonably strong (compared to the disastrous state of the Liberal Party in almost all other states). Minchin, when in parliament, was a conservative warrior who did fight the big battles, he fought the republic in the late 1990s and it was a spill orchestrated by Minchin in late 2009 that installed Tony Abbott as leader. However Minchin is gone, long gone. After the September 2015 knifing, no conservative was given a cabinet position in the Turd’s cabinet, and the subsequent purging under the Turd and then under Scumbag meant that there weren’t any conservative voices in cabinet and few “conservatives” or even real classical Liberals remaining in the federal party room. We saw how Morrison dealt with Craig Kelly, he sided with the Labor/the Greens and the MSM to sideline and ridicule Kelly. So, we witnessed a party that previously had a long tradition of tolerating maverick backbenchers, curiously became all squeamish about the likes of Kelly and Christensen. The Labor Party has numerous embarrassing, questionable and outright sinister characters on its backbench but the Labor Party doesn’t dump and spit on its own the way the Liberal Party now does.

2. Nick Cater was the MC of the panel discussion. Nick’s a nice man who I’ve got a lot of time for. Nick knows precisely what the problems are that are afflicting the Liberals. It’s time he acknowledged them and spoke up.

3. Former Senator Amanda Stoker. I like Amanda however in 2020, when Amanda was a federal senator, she voted with Labor and the Greens to censure Bettina Arndt, an act of infamy and bastardry that will always remain unforgiveable. I know for a fact that Stoker has apologised to Arndt and has publicly stated her remorse, but the damage was done and it was a portent of what was to come under Morrison, with Morrison going on to dump Kelly, Christensen, Porter, Tudge and Laming, refusing to defend them in what were clearly political assassinations orchestrated Labor and the Greens, using their buddies in the MSM to propagate the smears and lies. This is an impressive legacy of Liberal corpses that any funeral home would be proud of and the sad reality is that not one of these now dead political corpses were defended by Scumbag and the Liberals, in fact starting with Scumbag down, they happily and openly assisted the left and the MSM plunge knives in the backs of these men.

4. I now come to Tina McQueen, who was also on the panel that got booed and shouted at. I’ll be honest here, I don’t have much time for McQueen. I noted at CPAC she leaves the room when someone she doesn’t like comes on to critique the Liberal Party. She left the room when Alan Jones came on. I regard McQueen as somewhat clownish and an intellectual lightweight, traits she once again showed last night on Rowan’s programme. On the programme last night James Allan spoke some basic truths about Morrison and the nine years of Liberal do nothing government, and he also reminded McQueen how Morrison and his government said NOTHING when state governments under premiers like Andrews daily abused, assaulted, arrested, bashed, stomped on, silenced and handcuffed ordinary Australians. When Australians as a whole had basic rights taken away from them, when they weren’t even allowed to visit dying parents, when that joke of a QLD premier said that “Queensland hospitals are for Queenslanders”, when we were subjected to vaccine mandates, when tradies, those same voters the Liberals need to win elections, couldn’t work, and all the other examples of abuse and overreach that Australians endured in 2020 and 2021, what did Morrison say? NOTHING. But instead of saying we need to take this on board, McQueen becomes defensive, she doesn’t want to hear any criticism and she starts going on about how we need to “move forward”, code for “just forget about the last nine years, and particularly the last two and a half years” and put all your eggs behind Peter Dutton regardless of what he says and how he feels about “far-right” men and women like myself. My answer to McQueen? NO, I’m not “moving forward” until the Liberal Party deals with its failures and when the Liberal Party stops smearing ordinary Australian men and women as “far-right”.

Apologies about the long tirade today, apart from being hungry and thirsty because I’m fasting, I’m angry, very angry. We are politically homeless. Most of us are Menzies’ Liberals and yet Dutton has made it quite clear he doesn’t want us.

I suspect there are one or two Liberal operatives/politicians/commentators who read this blog. My message to you is simple, please take on some of the above criticism and convey it back to the powers that be. Oh and caveat for those one or two naysayers here, whilst I suspect I speak for many here, I don’t presume to speak for all. None of what I have written above makes me “far-right” and please tell this to Peter Dutton, attending CPAC doesn’t make me “far-right’, heckling Liberals on stage doesn’t make me “far-right”. All of this language is progressive language and by using the smears “far-right” you are simply playing into the progressive songbook. And if Liberals use these smears then they are no better than the left. I won’t vote for any party that smears me as “far-right”.

* At CPAC on Saturday I spoke to a young woman who works in the Arts. She now lives in NSW, having moved from Victoria. She said that being a conservative, a Christian and prolife she knows that almost ALL of her fellow workers in the Arts think that, because of her bizarro beliefs and politics, she’s from another planet however she doesn’t get abused. She then told me that when still living in Victoria she joined a local Liberal branch and that she left soon after. Why? Because she’d go to Liberal branch meetings and she’d be abused and ridiculed for her Christian and prolife beliefs. That’s the state of the Liberal Party in 2022. Oh and this won’t surprise anyone, she didn’t put the Liberals first in May.

Rant over.

duk, that generator, where did you buy and is it hooked into your house via the board with an auto cut in or another method ?

Was about 5 years ago. Bought from major Honda Dealer in Adelaide (EU7000Is). It was the first fuel injected petrol available, which I thought would be good for extended downtime – the fuel wouldnt go off in a carby bowl. I chose petrol not diesel as diesels are noisy and dont like low load running (current draw for an ‘idling’ house can be under 1kw). Its so quiet I had to put a ‘pilot light’ (orange bulb run direct off the generator) in the house to know when it was running.

It was wired to an autostart/autoswitch over system. This detects failure of the street supply, disconnects the street and starts the gen. When supply returns, it shuts off the gen and reconnects to the street, all automatically. The only glitch was when the 12v genny battery died at about the 4 year mark. This confused the autostart system into switching off the house but then couldnt start the generator. Ie it produced a power failure of its own.

Jabba the Hutt would recruit from Brisbane Grammar.

Spot on! Even the gravel roads where I grew up have deteriorated to muddy tracks. A couple of hours work each year with a grader would have stopped water channeling down them, but no, we also do PNG style maintenance.

Err, Zulu, the cross-examination of them will require a family sized popcorn.
Because this is where questions will arise as to whether or not Mizz Britnah decided she had been illegally rogered only after discussing it with Mrs Bandana and Ms Maiden.
Of course, Sammy has extensive experience in memory lapses after a big night out.

How surprising!

Primark is to reintroduce women-only changing rooms amid a growing backlash over gender-neutral facilities in its stores, MailOnline can reveal.

The move comes as another woman today revealed how a man ‘burst in on her’ while she was trying on clothes in a unisex cubicle at the store in Stoke-on-Trent.

Now, the fashion giant has vowed to bring back female-only changing areas to 187 of its 191 stores in the UK ‘in a matter of weeks’.

It didn’t go well. Mitchell asked about Muslim or players of other faiths that didn’t support the gay agenda.
Our queer lad’s logic dictates that you can be a very well payed player and enjoy religious freedom but you can’t be a CEO and take a leading role in a conservative church group.
Mitchell never asked why there was a need for his exclusive group if he’s so keen on inclusivity.

The first public hearing of a Senate inquiry into murdered and missing First Nations women and children will be staged in Canberra today.

The legal and constitutional affairs committee will hear from the National Indigenous Australians Agency, Australian Institute of Criminology, Institute of Health and Welfare and the federal police.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Council will also share evidence in the afternoon.

The inquiry comes as an effort to consider legislation, policies and practices implemented in response to violence experienced by Indigenous women and children.

As I mentioned yesterday, unless Mizz Higgins did not shower or bathe for the days after the alleged event, and until she made an “informal” complaint to the police, or (following the example of Monica L in the US) kept, without cleaning them, the clothes she was wearing at the time, there seems to be no physical evidence.

Tent embassy founder fights eviction from two sheep stations

One of the four original founders of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy is locked in a bitter battle with an Aboriginal land corporation over the ownership of two remote sheep stations straddling the NSW-Queensland border.

The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation on one side claims the stations are its property, while Euahlayi elder Michael Anderson, the last surviving founder of the tent embassy, says his family is the rightful owner. Mr Anderson, who also goes by Ghillar, says the two stations, Mogila and Currawillinghi – valued at an estimated $10m – near the remote Queensland town of Dirranbandi, belong to him.

But the ILSC claims Mr Anderson and his German-born wife Jutta Sapotnik Eckford, a co-defendant in the case, are squatters.

Documents filed in the NSW Supreme Court show the ILSC launched legal action to evict the veteran Aboriginal activist in 2020, and the two sides slugged it out in court hearings last week.

But Mr Anderson said the case was “political” and he was being forced off the land because of his activism and vocal criticism of the ILSC. “Those of us who led the black power movement way back when, they are going after us all and cutting down those people,” he told The Australian.

“Basically, out of that old black power movement, I’m the only one standing on land rights and sovereignty”.

Mr Anderson claims the ILSC procured signatures from the traditional owners, many of whom were semi-literate, to acquire the properties in the late 1990s through “several fraudulent acts” which substituted corporate chicanery.

Mr Anderson – who has a history of political provocation, including declaring himself the leader of the sovereign Euahlayi nation and refusing to pay council rates – has armed himself with binders of legal documents and launched an impassioned defence representing himself.

He said the properties – about 860km from Sydney and 580km from Brisbane – are his ancestral home as a “bloodline descendants of King Tyson of Currawillinghi”.

“This is my family, this is my country; we were here all the way back and my great grandfather was buried at Currawillinghi with a headstone there from the family and there is a traditional grave setting there,” he said. “(Then-prime minister Paul) Keating introduced the Indigenous Land Corporation bill for the purpose of buying land back for Aborigines who might not be able to seek native title and compensate them so they can go back on to their own country, and now they’re applying to the courts to not just evict me but my wife.”

The action was launched after the ILSC became aware Mr Anderson and Ms Sapotnik-Eckford had “occupied” the site from about April 16, 2019.

The corporation claims the two have occupied a homestead on the station and conducted agriculture and cattle grazing on the site, despite threats from the ILSC that they vacate.

“Mr Anderson and Ms Eckford threaten, and continue, to occupy and use Mogila and Currawillinghi,” the ILSC said in its statement of claim.

But Mr Anderson said he had been living on the property since 2002 when he and his wife took over as “managers” of the farm, caring for the land and using it for “teaching programs on country”.

The site has a troubled history, with the company in charge of running the property, Ngurampaa Ltd – under which Mr Anderson took on the role as manager – being placed into liquidation in 2015 after years of financial hardship and drought left it ridden by debt. ILSC Group chief executive Joe Morrison said it was “regrettable” that the couple must vacate the property but all other avenues had been pursued.

“Many members of the Traditional Owning group have a strong connection to Mogila and Currawillinghi Stations,” he said.

“This is the reason the ILSC stepped in to protect these properties from being lost from the Indigenous group once Ngurampaa Limited was officially wound up by the court, ensuring they are retained for the access and benefit of all members of the group.”

Also not an expert, but this probably occupies most of the envelope of ‘normal behaviour’.

Another of the mysterious mysteries is why Mr Lothario escorted Mz Shitfaced into the Minister’s office, did whatever official business he came to do, and then just left her passed out on the sofa. (Actually, this seems a bit of a mystery under all scenarios.)

I suspect this facet of poor behaviour will get high rotation airplay.

Back to boozy bikes.
During my entirely forgettable sojourn as a resident of the Sydney cesspit, I used to go for an early morning ride every Sunday.
I’d often ride over the Anzac Bridge where there was always a booze bus to catch the kids who had been in the clubs all night.
A two pick handles copperette would regularly stop and bag me. I thought it was a gigle and would needle her until she said that she intended to get me one day. “All it takes is for you to stay at your mate’s place too long the night before, and I’ve got you”.
It was the beginning of my awakening to the malignant creature that is modern policing.
My rural cousins tell me that this kind of baseless vindictiveness is a feature of new ‘city’ coppers who are posted into their district.
My positive memories of rural coppers of my youth are now an Enid Blyton fantasy apparently.
