From my observation, the people in Australia who suffer from Islamophobia (an irrational fear of Islam) are politicians, senior police, senior bureaucrats and the media. The rest of us of have an understandable caution about Islam, but do not live in perpetual fear of it.

Yep..! there’s no shortage of the RoP followers where I am (Fairfield, NSW) but you just get on with your own life … it’s only when the media kick up a hysteria campaign you even think about who else lives around you ..
the rest of the time life’s normal ………..!

OpinionCads, you’re on notice – we now have a contemporary definition of rape
Parnell Palme McGuinnessColumnist and communications adviser
April 28, 2024

When society undergoes a tectonic shift, it sometimes gets buried in the media cycle. Like earthquakes, we focus on the force rather than the new geological reality.
Similarly when Justice Michael Lee handed down his findings in the Lehrmann defamation case: in the aftermath of the ruling, it’s not yet fully appreciated how the case will change society. Of course, we were all agreed that sex without consent is rape. But Lee extracted a narrative of how consent can turn into non-consent without a word being uttered.

A judge has ruled that, on the balance of probabilities, former Liberal staffer Bruce Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins as his defamation case against Network 10’s reporting failed.
With painstaking nuance, Lee found that, though Brittany Higgins had shown enthusiasm for Lehrmann by engaging in passionate kissing at a nightclub, and though she had agreed to go back to Parliament House – probably to continue the intimacy in some form – at the point at which sex (on the balance of probabilities) occurred, Higgins was too affected by alcohol to consent and Lehrmann was (on the balance of probabilities) reckless to her consent. And that is the contemporary definition of rape.
Over the course of his livestreamed judgment, Lee brought the concept of the cad back into modern sexual vernacular, but drew a distinction between cad and rapist. Lehrmann was a cad for leaving Higgins helpless, but caddishness is not illegal. In the past, a cad was a man who took a maiden’s honour but (the maidenhead no longer being an item of social value in polite Western society) a rapist is a person who is reckless to another’s state of mind in the act of sex. Lehrmann’s recklessness was the issue, underscored by his caddishness after. The new item of social value is dignity.
Some men have been shocked by Lee’s definition of rape. One older author declared “an end to the old-fashioned date night”. The judgment has also fuelled a discussion among women that has taken place since the advent of the #MeToo movement, about how we should evaluate our own experiences in the light of contemporary definitions

Let’s start with that “old-fashioned date night”. It may help our ageing Lothario to remember that it isn’t so old fashioned at all. The “seductions” he describes are actually a very new-fangled type of date night, made possible by effective birth control and the sexual revolution (which he no doubt deplores).
The contraceptive pill liberated women to enjoy sex but also created an atmosphere in which they could be labelled prudes if they didn’t want to enjoy it with just anyone anytime. (In case you missed the last 60 years, prudishness is a negative quality, alongside sluttishness – do try to keep up.) It’s very confusing. We’ve been trying to find new terms of engagement ever since.
It is a matter of agreement among women whose identity I shall conceal in recognition of the frankness of their disclosures, that one or other of us may have had sex that we don’t consider rape, although we weren’t exactly declaiming our consent in the classifieds. Sometimes it was “lazy acquiescence” sex, when we’d found ourselves consensually in someone else’s bed (or them in ours) and decided that getting sex over and done with meant we could get to sleep more quickly.

Except the doofus who wrote that silly piece is making some stupid connection with the non-existent skepticism in the US dollar.

Here, I’ll re-post part of the comment as you don’t appear to have read it or understood it.

underscores the increasing skepticism among nations regarding the traditional safe haven status of the US dollar and American financial institutions.

What the f do physical gold bars have to do with the US dollar?

There’s a point to make about the confiscation. I’m not going to go into what FDR did with gold except to say that FDR impacted gold ownership on US citizens and not foreigners and their holdings.

As a Nigerian citizen, you would safer if Nigerian gold was in the Fed’s vault for safe keeping or a Nigerian vault?

Pick one?

Confiscation

I’m going from memory and can’t be bothered to check through the web.

Australian citizens were only allowed to own gold bullion from the 80s onward, and the miners either had to sell their production to the government or heavily regulated with regards to sales.

So much for US confiscation, if I’m correct.

We’re talking about gold owned by the state and not personal holdings , just to be clear.

You’re very trusting of the Nigerian government. One of the most outwardly thieving states on earth that makes other African countries look like Switzerland.

My bet would be that the bullion won’t last a week in the vaults before it’s all gonsky.

But it’s good to see you have a trusting nature.

If it’s sitting in down town Lagos, not so much.

Here at the motel, business has slowed – which means fewer shifts for the housemaids, all of whom rely on that money to keep their families afloat.

These Canberra workers are not even a blip on the opulent public servants’ radar. Why would they be when even some of those vote green or Labor? It would be better for them to migrate to a friendly state.

No, there’s China, Russia, North Korea and Iran as choices too.

However, Dover’s obscure link says they’re repatriating the gold, which means it’s going home.

Here:

The decision to repatriate gold reserves is not merely symbolic;

Therefore, what’s the point of dealing with a hypothetical like Nigeria is eagerly shipping it out of the Fed’s vault sending it to Iran for safekeeping.

I hadn’t thought of this but Parnell McGuinness has a point, this case is likely to define our social landscape and it will be led by men, not women. I can see mothers advising their sons, in order to protect their career prospects, not to have sex with girls or be found in a situation which can be interpreted as though sex has or could have occurred. A new age of primness is in our future. Funny how things swing so far one way that eventually the pendulum starts the return trip.

Cassie of Sydney
April 28, 2024 3:33 pm

Just returned from the Sydney CBD. I thought I would go in to shop but I didn’t stay long. There’s another ‘I love Hamas’ march planned for this arvo and public transport was being diverted to cater for the scum. Walking by Hyde Park, I saw lots of Palestinian flags, lots of women in hijabs, lots of grungy leftists and lots of NSWaffen Police. The usual gruesome scum, the usual gruesome scene. This Jew just wanted to get the f*ck out of there.

I note that yesterday there was a rally here in Sydney, near Central Station, to protest violence against women. I’ll just preface this by saying that we ALL object to violence against women. The attendees at yesterday’s rally at Belmore Park called for immediate action against ‘a growing epidemic of femicide’. This comes on the heels of the tragic murder of Molly Ticehurst. Of course, yesterday’s rally was attended by the usual leftist, feel good, virtual signalling progressive scum, in attendance was the Miserable Ghost of Point Piper and his hideous wife, Pretty Boy Minns and ‘celebrities’, cough, cough, such as ‘Abbie Chuckfield’, a so called online ‘celebrity’. When reading her name I thought…who? And then I remembered, this is the same Abbie Chuckfield, an online Instragrammer, who lauded the Hamas rapists, murderers, beheaders, butchers and kidnappers of October 7 as ‘heroes’. Could it be that Ms Chuckfield doesn’t object to some violence against women, when the victims are Israeli Jewish women?

But I digress, one thing is for sure, most of the people in attendance at the Sydney rally yesterday, along with those in attendance at the Melbourne rally today, are no doubt all proud, unashamed far-left progressives (and that includes the narcissistic and very miserable duo from Point Piper). You have to wonder if any of these people are capable of some self reflection about the ideology they profess and spruik? Probably not. You see, it is thanks to the left that we now have weak bail laws. Across this country we have magistrates, court registrars, judges etc who are routinely letting violent and serious offenders out on bail. Molly Ticehurst was murdered by a man who should never have been allowed out on bail. But a court registrar released him.

And so it comes to pass that Sleazy the Slug is clearly now out of sorts. He’s had a bad week, a week where he’s whinged about all those vewy mean and vewy cruel memes circulating about him, and a week where he tried, unsuccessfully, to wrestle with Elon Musk. Naturally Sleazy the Slug came out badly bruised from both tussles. As I write there are more memes circulating about the Sleazy the Slug than ever before and Elon Musk didn’t back down, I think it is safe to say that Elon wasn’t going to take flak from a mediocrity like the Sleazy the Slug. So, bewildered, crestfallen and desperate, the Sleazy the Slug has seized upon this issue of violence against women. Now, we all know that many politicians are grotesque opportunists but the Sleazy the Slug is the King of Hypocritical Slugs! He’s now telling Australian men that ‘enough is enough’ and that they must do better when it comes to violence against women. Unbelievably cheap and hypocritical verbal sludge from a slug who’s on film screaming to a Liberal woman, in parliament no less, to ‘smash her, smash her, smash her’.

Stay safe in Sydney’s streets, Cassie, for you wear two necklaces – a silver Star of David and the ‘dog-tags’ that Jewish people wear in order to bring the hostages home. Good on you. That takes a certain amount of bravery with Islamic Jew-haters roaming around, but do take care.

I’m glad you come here to vent, I know I would, because you probably need it after any Sunday venture out with those mobs about and Sydney police being so unhelpful. This morning I posted an item on Germany’s drafting of new censorship law relating to the internet.

I see that, not surprisingly, Canada’s efforts are even worse:

Canada introduces blood-curdling new ‘thought police’ law that would make even Stalin blush

Canada has fallen. It’s become the North Korea of the West, and it’s getting worse every single day. This new bill they’ve introduced is the cherry on their tyrannical sundae. It’s called the Online Harms Bill C-63, and it would make even Stalin blush. As a matter of fact, tyrannical dictator Kim Jong-Un would look at this bill and feel an instant rush of communist inadequacy. With this new bill, Justin Trudeau is fueling those online rumors that his real father is actually communist dirtbag Fidel Castro.
The Canadian law proposal is outright mad. It is retroactive, which goes against all our Western legal tradition, according to which you can be punished only if you infringed a law that was valid at the time when you committed a crime: “And it isn’t just stuff you’ve posted after the new law comes into force you can get into trouble for – oh, no – but anything you’ve posted, ever, dating back to the dawn of the internet. In other words, it’s a gold-embossed invitation to offence archaeologists to do their worst, with the prospect of a $20,000 reward if they hit paydirt. The only way to protect yourself is to go through all your social media accounts and painstakingly delete anything remotely controversial you’ve ever said.”
And there is worse!
“Although, that won’t protect you from another clause in the bill – and this is where it trips over into as yet unimagined dystopian territory. If the courts believe you are likely to commit a ‘hate crime’ or disseminate ‘hate propaganda’ (not defined), you can be placed under house arrest and your ability to communicate with others restricted. That is, a court can force you to wear an ankle bracelet, prevent you using any of your communication devices and then instruct you not to leave the house. If the court believes there’s a risk you may get drunk or high and start tweeting under the influence – although how is unclear, given you can’t use your phone or a PC – it can order you to submit regular urine samples to the authorities. Anyone who refuses to comply with these diktats can be sent to prison.”

RA! (Raising Awareness!).

Leaving aside the danger of teaching the younger generations of males they are inherently violent and a threat to women simply by existing*, what social issues have ever been resolved – measurable outcomes, that is – by ‘raising awareness?’

If, in the age of the internet, with social media and the profligate spending of taxpayer funds on ‘public education’ campaigns (see the covidiocy), etc., we are yet to ‘raise awareness’ to a level where the bubble will pop and rainbows appear, maybe RA! isn’t the answer?

Maybe we are being conned by our elites to believe that doing ‘Something, Anything’ is a fine and noble pursuit? Have we been programmed to detect and acknowledge white noise (Sssshhhhh …. Something, Anything) as profundity?

RA! Sssshhhh. RA! Ssshhhhh.
Golf clap, aaannndd … go home. There, it’s all better.

* I believe the gendering of violence is a form of child abuse. Individuals and organisations with authority and resources are perpetuating a stereotype designed to break down the psyche of young people for the purpose of creating a generation so dysfunctional they are forced to become reliant on the same authorities for their every need.

(What if we included the statistics for abortion? Males as sexual assault victims in incarceration?).

There is a pervasive sickness within western society now; almost like an intentionally introduced virus. Hmmmm….

Firstly, the billie goat. I understand that perfectly – some can be hideous pieces of sh*t, a danger to both humans and other animals in the flock. Blam.

The dog. Rural setting. Dog useless for hunting, also has the bloodlust for poultry. And…it turned on its owner when thwarted in its little chook-spree.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has delivered a fiery speech at a rally in Canberra protesting violence against women, demanding widespread change to all levels of Australian society and asking protesters to hold him “accountable” for his government’s actions.

In a speech that was met at times with jeers and interruptions, Mr Albanese said Australia needed to change its “culture”, “attitudes” and “legal system” to end the scourge of violence against women that has already allegedly claimed the lives of 26 women this year.

“We’re here today to demand that governments of all levels, must do better, including my own, and every state and territory government,” he said.

“We’re here as well to say that society, and Australia, must do better.

“We need to change the culture, we need to change attitudes, we need to change the legal system.

“We need to change the approach by all governments because it is not enough to support victims, we need to focus on the perpetrators and focus on prevention.”

Mr Albanese suggested he had asked the rally organisers for permission to speak but had been knocked back.

“We did ask to speak, myself and (Finance minister) Katy (Gallagher) and we were told that’s not possible,” he said.

“And that’s fine, we respect the organisers’ right to do that.”

A woman next to the prime minister interjected: “That’s a lie”.

Earlier, rally organiser Sarah Williams commenced the demonstration by sharing her own experiences of family and domestic violence, as well as homelessness.

In an awkward and tense exchange, Ms Williams then demanded the politicians present commit to the organisation’s demands, and declare that the recent spate of murders of women by men was a national emergency.

However, the Labor ministers appeared non-responsive and confused, initially refusing to front the rally, a move which brought boos and heckling from the audience.

“Why are you even here?” one protester yelled from the crowd.

“Shame on you,” shouted another.

Mr Albanese spoke about some of the actions his government had taken to address the problem, including the introduction of domestic violence payments.

A protester interrupted, saying “it’s not enough”.

The prime minister replied,“I agree it’s not enough. I said that. We need to do more.”

Even as his words were punctuated with booing and jeering from the crowd, Mr Albanese soldiered on through his address, committing that the government he led would redouble its efforts to counter gender-based violence.

Mr Albanese said he would convene a meeting of the national cabinet on Wednesday to discuss the issue of domestic and family violence with state and territory first ministers.

Mr Albanese finished his speech by calling the problem a “national crisis” and said one or two months of funding would not be enough to solve it.

“It’s up to men to change men’s behaviour as well,” he said.

“Yes, people do need to be made accountable and I’ll be accountable for what my government does.”

The Prime Minister then made his way to his waiting motorcade, subsequently departing Capital Hill and the 5000-strong crowd assembled on the front lawn

Cue continued attacks on the Coalition, Dutton in particular, that they have a woman problem and only Labor have their backs. With generous lashings of taxpayer cash will the problem cease with Albo at the helm.

People could be skeptical of what they read in one newspaper, but the age of mass media introduced a barrage of newspapers, and then supplemented them with immediate messaging from radio broadcasts and then cinematic newsreels. The sheer concentration of park speakers, newspaper editorials, magazines, and headlines marching across the silver screen proved much harder to resist because it created an enveloping effect seemingly from everywhere.

Beyond politics, mass media made life unreal. People began taking fashion cues, life advice and moral guidance from the media. When celebrities divorced, it became more normalized, when they committed suicide, a rash of suicides followed. Millions of people stopped using their own judgment and took to repeating whatever they heard as if media culture was their society.

Reality fractured. Nations went to war or went bankrupt. The family fell apart. And throughout it all, the population climbed deeper and farther into the alternate reality of the media.

Awareness Raising has always been about virtue signalling, the point being to inform everyone how wonderful and caring is the signaller. Often it was even worse where a person, usually famous, did something bad or stupid straight away they admit guilt and go on an awareness raising campaign to prevent it happening again. Once the consciousness raising tour is done they are redeemed and can go back to their previous life.

In 2022, there were 195 fatalities connected to the workplace [I believe this can include car accidents on the way to or from work, but I’m not certain].

181 of those fatalities – 93% – were males.
[Source].

I’m not trying to compare ‘apples with oranges,’ but in almost any statistic outside of reported sexual assaults, and female-specific cancers, I’d be willing to bet that males were ‘disproportionately represented.’

My point?
‘Gendering’ these issues achieves nothing. NOTHING. Which of course is the intention: to achieve nothing, but lots of jumping up and down and chest thumping.

Males who are violent towards women are unlikely to be swayed by reason or rational argument. Individuals (of either sex) who are habitually physically violent seldom express that violence when in a calm, rational, state of mind.

But no, you’re right Albo et al., – let’s poison and psychologically abuse another generation of young males. That’s a rational, reasonable response isn’t it?

Just in from The Oz….

An alleged youth terror cell in Western Sydney reportedly wanted to target Jews, were ready to “die” for their cause, and called themselves “soldiers of Allah” in a series of disturbing text messages.

Sydney’s Jewish leaders were on high alert on Sunday night after revelations the alleged teenage terrorists arrested in a mass raid were planning to target their community in their ultimately foiled attacks.
A police fact sheet tendered to court over the weekend claims the Western Sydney teens started their plot after the stabbing of an Ayssrian bishop by one of their alleged associates, and that they planned to buy guns and store them in abandoned homes, The Daily Telegraph reported.

One alleged jihadi also wrote that he wanted to target Jews. The Australian has previously revealed one of the teens had been following a Hamas supporter on social media.

“I really want to target the yahood (Jewish people) … we will plan it,” one fifteen-year old juvenile allegedly sent to a group chat titled ‘Plans’ on April 19, four days after the Wakeley stabbing incident.

Unsurprising. There’s a saying that ‘first the Muslim jihadis will come for the Saturday people, then the Muslim Jihadis will come for the Sunday people‘. Except the ‘alleged’ in the above piece clearly thought they’d target the Sunday people first.

Jews and Christians are all targets of the same verminous, murderous ideology. I stand proudly with all.

Here’s a true story.
Ruth Park’s maternal? grandfather was a Norwegian sailor, used to come home from drinking and beat his wife.
One day the family packed her up along with everything in the house and he came home to an empty house.
I think that was back in the 20s or 30s and she had put up with it for decades before the family said enough.
I had a colleague who got beaten regularly by her ex while they lived in Scotland, he beat their children too.
Her father used to say she must have done something to deserve it, but nothing in particular, just him coming home drunk and finding some excuse.

Culturally it seemed to be acceptable.
They moved to Australia and things were different, she was no longer expected to tolerate it, so she escaped.

Re Aboriginal men and violence against women:

There is a cultural issue here to be addressed too. Violence against women was an integral component of traditional aboriginal culture. From my reading of “Commonwealth of Thieves’ by Tom Keneally, a basic leftie who concentrates whole chapters on the condition of aborigines in the first four years of Sydney, drawing on reports untampered by later ages, it is patently clear that aboriginal women lived in a culture of vicious violence towards them for a myriad of imagined slights and cultural wrongs, including sorcery. They were also sexual chattels, traded, raped and fought over. Anthropological studies, in the days before that discipline went ‘woke’, also showed this, even though more attention was paid in recent times to women’s own ritual life; but the violence still permeates the reports.

In modern times this violence has been sustained and even enhanced by a poor sense of worth in aboriginal men confined to the fringes of employment or made completely dependent in remote ‘community’ hellholes. Extolling the virtues of aboriginal ‘culture’ is something that should cease. Bring in some more Christian teachers and clergy to help out. Churches should start a big and government-approved campaign to get more converts into the peaceful associative traditions of Christian life. Self-worth can help to destroy welfare dependence. I am not joking.

Old working class cultures could also be violent towards women, although it tended to be socially condemned, particularly by Christian men, who also saw women’s protection enhanced by modesty and by what one old bloke in the 60’s described to me as ‘the marriage lines’, i.e. the vows made. Men also used to sign ‘the pledge’ against drinking promoted by the temperance movement, very big in the later years of the C19th and early C20th.

Endorsing marriage and moderate or no drinking is also an interesting trend seen in some of todays young people. Pendulums swinging from the 60’s?

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Beare

Here’s a history of the Temperance Movement in Australia. Link is Wiki if it doesn’t work. It contributed to some restrictions on alcohol use which became far too onerous for most voters, and never reached the heights of prohibition, as it did in the US.

Most such ‘moral’ movements stem from situations that have become dire and out of control, such as the heavy use of spirits rather than beer and wine in the US during the post-War exuberant culture of the Roaring Twenties and the Hollywood Era reaching into small towns everywhere. Drug use – amphetamines and heroin in particular – have reach similar proportions of harm in many Australian rural towns and amongst homeless populations in urban areas.

I am not arguing for any particular responses, many are possible and some are working, others have failed, but they will arise ‘organically’ from within communities the worse it gets. The exception is aboriginal remote communities where so many cards are stacked against the few – mainly elderly women – who try to resist the tide of abuses.
