US 2022 Mid-Terms Thread

The latest indication of national sentiment:

Wow. Over half polled strongly disapprove of Biden. This carries over into the generic ballot:

Let’s look at latest polls for individual races:

GA Senate: Walker (R) +3 (RCP average Walker +0.6)

AZ Senate: Masters (R) +1 v Kelly (RCP avg Kelly +0.6)

NV Senate: Laxalt (R) +2 v Cortez Mastro (RCP avg Laxalt +2.7)

WI Senate: Johnson (R) +6 v Barnes (RCP avg Johnson +3.3)

OH Senate: Vance (R) +10 v Ryan (RCP average Vance +8)

NH Senate: Hassan (D) +3 v Bolduc (RCP avg Hassan +1.4)

PA Senate: Oz (R) +2.2 v Fetterman (RCP avg Oz +0.1)

Here is my prediction. In the Senate, like Gingrich, I think we are looking at a 53-55 R majority. In the House, I think we can expect something in the low 240s. Surprises in the Senate, I think, may include pick-ups in the NH and NV. I think Walker will win the GA Senate convincingly, less so Masters but he is a very good candidate and future of the party so I hope to see him get through and pick-up the Senate seat. Lake’s strong run for AZ Gov and the generic support for R should lift him over the line.

Time will reveal all.

Odd, those ‘hickups’ all seem to happen in Dem controlled states.

Take Florida for example. Once the hanging-chad clown of the election world, they got every freaking vote counted and reported within 2 hours of poll closing.

It ain’t rocket surgery after you clean out the Democrat corruption and fraud.

I’m reinforcing my earlier prediction. If the expected vote dump in close districts happens about 21:00 tonight, the Democrats to easily retain the Reps. Otherwise both the Senate and Reps will be closely divided. I too don’t think this will be a decisive win in the Senate for the Republicans.

good site – https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/midterm-elections-2022?icid=election_nav

ace of spades pessimistic – Red Wave Receding?

We will win the House. We are now hoping for a 20 seat margin, maybe 25, rather than the 30 or 40 seats we had been hoping for.

The Senate is now a more tightly contested thing. We won’t be winning 5 or 6 seats, alas. Hopefully we’ll still win it, but it’ll be by 1 or 2 seats.

Even Spannberger has just pulled ahead of Vega in VA-7, 50.8 to 49.0. If you remember back to 2020, Spannberger was behind in the final count — until they discovered a thumb drive containing 5,000 votes which vaulted Spannberger ahead of her opponent.

Another Red Mirage.

And now, even though she was behind by 3% with 99% in, she surges ahead by nearly two points, also with 99% in. Another last minute discovery of a thumb drive? Who knows. We all await the CIA Officer’s cover story.

So only one of three seats in Virginia. It appears that the Red Wave hit hugely in Florida, but not really very strongly anywhere else.

Sorry, guys. I was overconfident.

Or perhaps I just didn’t account for all the thumb drives floating around.

Question:

In 2018, Fox called the House for Democrats by 9:45 — have they called the House for Republicans yet?

I don’t think this is a wave election either way. No one is going to be happy with the result. Unusual for an unpopular President not to get his arse kicked in midterms, but he had razor-thin majorities to defend so it isn’t going to take much for Biden to lose them. He won’t be able to do much in the next two years, but neither will the GOP.

From the 538 feed:

Let’s check in on the Kentucky anti-abortion ballot measure! We have 64 percent of the expected vote reporting, and the abortion-rights side is still in the lead with 53 percent, while the anti-abortion rights side has 47 percent. The abortion-rights side of the amendment continues to run well ahead of the Democratic Senate candidate, signaling that some voters are crossing party lines to oppose this ballot measure, which would effectively end all legal opposition to abortion bans in Kentucky.

Amazing that that would happen in Kentucky, of all places.

I can just see it now; in living rooms all over Europe, the whole family huddled round the gas heater with cups of hot chocolate enjoying a gloriously toasty evening…”Dear, we need to send lots more Big Splodey Weapons to Ukraine!” It’s happening now.

@ Monty

Ryan’s coat-tails seem to have got a few Dems up on the OH house races. I expected the GOP to net about 20; they’ll be lucky to break double-figures at this rate. They _should_ have been knocking on the door of their best results since the late 1920s: Biden is hopeless, inflation is rampant, Biden’s conduct before it contributed to a war in Ukraine, etc, etc

Warnock up 0.7% with 91% counted, but still 0.7 off the 50 he needs to avoid a runoff.

The Libertarian candidate got 2-3% of the vote. Assuming this goes to a run-off those votes are very unlikely to go to Warnock.

“mainstream, centre-right politics back”

And what’s that? Oh, perhaps you mean “Labor/Democrat/Labour lite” politics and policies? Well, here in Australia we had under that the successive Liberal governments from September 2013 through to May 2021. That worked a treat didn’t it? A complete abandonment and betrayal of all “centre-right” policies from free speech to religious freedom to fiscal responsibility to protecting small and medium sized businesses.

I would expect Warnock to continue edging towards 50% given the vast majority of unreported votes are in deep blue urban areas, as CNN is detailing now. There’s going to be a poofteenth in it. Perfect scenario for MASSIVE VOTE DUMPS actually, could be some lulz later this evening.

That’s the way I read it too. More importantly than a disaster for the Republicans, it’s a kick into the teeth for freedom. And the fix hasn’t kicked in yet (they mightned need it). Looks like most Americans don’t want the responsibility of freedom. They want to be enslaved by government doing things for them and feeding off scraps. Sad that the land of the free exists no more.

Stolen, Razey. It’s obvious. Worst economic climate in decades? Inflation eating voters alive? And they return the Dems? Nope. Not remotely believable.

The Dems could afford to allow the GOP a win in the House so long as they kept control of the Senate. The risk was that if the steal was too blatant they’d cause a civil war, which would see them all hung from lampposts. So the steal had to be just enough.

A sobering day/afternoon.

Maybe I’m overly disappointed in the result … was hoping for Repub control if the house ;to look into Biden laptop, Afghanistan, vaccines and to put the boot into the FBI/Dept Jusice. In hindsight this could not happen as too many people would end up with reputations smashed and prob in gaol. And so it won’t and I suspect that the Republicans will in the end, not control the house. Pelosi or Schiff will run the show.

And similarly Kari Lake promised looking into election 2020 fraud – and so she can not be allowed to win.

Realpolitik.

I understood that there was a MASSIVE turnout – and mostly Republicans… that this is understood and that this was to naught will unfortunately mean that they will no longer be bothered to vote.

They protested on Jan 6 and all ended on trial… Brazilians are now protesting… and are being shot in the streets.

The GOP only have themselves to blame for this. They had a POTUS who fought tooth and nail for their domestic interests and all they could manage was to undermine and stab him in the back every step of the way.

With this freakshow in the WH and that den of leftist deviants in Congress , this election result should be a Redwash. It’s hardly a whimper.

More need to suffer much more before the numbers are sufficient to turf out the filthy left from power in the US. And when the GOP do get in, they should not have a 4 year plan of retribution and massive culling leftism from the USG institutions. That should all be complete within 2 years. They must hit the ground running with vengeance, or face another failure in Government.
