Meaning he can do what he wants for as long as he wants.

For most of my life, the ABC has been all about undermining society and the economy. Just think of their push for unlimited abortion and Doogue trash’s comments about residents of Queenstown who wanted the Franklin dam. The ABC is built on theft- I have money lifted from my salary to keep these entitled marxists in the style to which they are accustomed.

I assume that 80% stat were the forces on the east. How does that discount the argument about the impact of allied bombing etc from the West?

80% of the killed or wounded was the force Germany marshaled against the Sovs, right?

Australia will be okay for the next half century or so at least.

Well some good things have been happening for us of late.

-China reversing its zero covid policy.

-The diplomatic corps in the US and here starting to drop “let’s be friends hints”.

-China starting to buy our coal again (may lead to dropping onerous tarriffs?)

– China pivoting on it’s 3 red Line RE policies.

The US and China are at a stand off over Taiwan. US sails a guided missile destroyer through the Straits and next day China send 20+ fighters + others + ships to and over the median line. But the US isn’t backing down sending some good tactical kit to Taipei. Good.

As long as they don’t get hot in Asia and Putin keeps his nukes on a leash we may be ok. But all it takes is one crazy rogue to kick of a shitfest. EVERYONE is primed.

The UK tabloid media turn to their Afghan besties for dirt on Harold – and set up the 72 virgins for the next leg of the story:

EXCLUSIVE – Taliban taunts ‘big mouth loser’ Prince Harry after he revealed he killed 25 enemies in Afghanistan: Islamists say Duke is ‘mad’ and ‘the ‘chess pieces’ now rule after you fled to your grandmother’s palace’

Molavi Nabi Jan, a Taliban official in the western Afghan city of Herat, said: ‘He’s a dirty idiot and a drunk jackal. He has destroyed all bridges behind him and is now just trying to avoid drowning in history.

‘Using the Taliban and his family is his last tool to make people talk about him. I know him very well. God left him on his own to give him a very big punishment at the end.’

Another Taliban official, Anas Haqqani, tweeted: ‘Mr. Harry! The ones you killed were not chess pieces, they were humans. They had families who were waiting for their return. Among the killers of Afghans, not many have your decency to reveal their conscience and confess to their war crimes.

‘The truth is what you’ve said. Our innocent people were chess pieces to your soldiers, military and political leaders. Still, you were defeated in that ‘game’ of white & black ‘squares’.

‘I don’t expect that the ICC [International Criminal Court] will summon you or the human rights activists will condemn you, because they are deaf and blind for you. But hopefully these atrocities will be remembered in the history of humanity.’

Personally, I wouldn’t be anywhere too close to him.
Stupid boy.

Flying home from France on a recent trip I noticed a rather haggard looking mum walking into the customs area with eight children all under age 10. Collecting their many suitcases, the nine of them entered the cramped customs area. A young customs official watched the large entourage in disbelief, ”Ma’am,” he said, ”do all these children and this luggage belong to you?” ”Yes, sir,” the lady said with a sigh, ”they’re all mine.” The customs agent began his interrogation ”Ma’am, do you have any weapons, contraband or drugs in your possession?” ”Sir,” she calmly answered, ”if I’d had any of those items, I would have used them by now.”

The stat is that 80% of German casualties occurred in the East fighting the Soviets. Allied bombing probably did have an effect but I’d like to know whether his ‘prevented from being created’ takes into account of the limited resources available to German, re oil, precious metals, rubber, etc.

Perhaps, the fight on the eastern front had to be conducted in that way, whereas the western front was much different. Both the Sovs and Germany lacked the arms needed in relative terms compared to the west. Just because the Germans wasted 80% of their manpower in the east doesn’t suggest the writer is wrong about the importance of Allied actions. I don’t think losing 80% of the manpower has as much relevance to the importance of Western actions.

It took 15 ballots, a midnight vote and a near-fistfight in the hallowed chambers of Congress, but Kevin McCarthy has now been elected Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Through a combination of cajoling, arm-twisting and finger-jabbing, the California congressman succeeded in convincing enough of the 20 holdout Republicans to support him – or at least not explicitly oppose his bid for the Speaker’s gavel.

Getting those recalcitrant Republicans on board, however, was not an easy job. Mr McCarthy has had to make promises, and key concessions, that limit his own power and increase the influence of conservatives in the House of Representatives.

Had, say, the losses been half of those, the Germans would have had about 100-150 more divisions still in the field.

Maybe not that many db. But it was actually a close run thing. Reading “Intrepid”, the allies used the Balkans to occupy and delay Hitler’s kick off of Barbarossa by about a month-6 weeks(they knew he was going in via Ultra) Just so that the Wehrmacht would encounter the full Russian winter slap bang as they were hyper extended deep inside the USSR. To within 30km of Moscow and very close to conquering Leningrad. 6 weeks earlier at Stalingrad might have made all the difference.

So I would add that deception and subterfuge played a yuuuuge part in the Allied victory, as much as the Soviet body count.

Devotion and Duty: Belgium’s WWI Catholic King
By Catholic News Service -January 6, 2023

Albert’s attention to his faith did not diminish in the postwar reconstruction. He reportedly once said: “Every time society has distanced itself from the Gospel, which preached humility, fraternity and peace, the people have been unhappy, because the pagan civilisation of ancient Rome, which they wanted to replace it with, is based only on pride and the abuse of force.”

The King died during a rock-climbing accident on 17 February 1934. He was 58.
“The grief of the Catholics all over the world over King Albert’s death is deeply felt because, being faithful to his country and to himself, he was also faithful to God,” said an obituary in a Catholic magazine of the time.

“Never was he accused of compromising his conscience, never was his loyalty questioned.”- – CNS

It’s all show-boating. Gaetz was part of a voting bloc in which he could organise the others to vote against McCarthy, so for the blockade to continue without him is hardly an independent decision of the other holdouts in the manner that this description suggests.

The nayzees could never have conquered the soviet union, no matter how many hypotheticals one might choose to indulge in.

The Balkans campaign wasn’t down to the allies, it was down to the Italians’ staggering incompetence. The Ozzies’ adventures in Greece and Crete can be read about in the AWM’s PDFs. The AIF came up against the LSSAH in Greece, who reportedly treated the former’s captives well.

Given the massive strategic and tactical blunders that subsequently occurred in the first few months of Barbarossa, the six weeks delay was ultimately irrelevant. As for the southern campaign in 1942 (Case Bleu?), the nayzees massively overextended themselves. Which anyone looking at a map could have predicted – except of course, a certain Austrian corporal.

WW2 was one massive unnecessary epochal disaster – caused of course by an even more massive unnecessary disaster. Featuring a hitherto unimagined industrial slaughter of both civilians and combatants, before culminating in a personal visitation by Satan himself (twice).

The West would never have been able to recover from WW1, let alone the additional depredations wrought upon it by the encore performance 20 years later.

Yet here we are, attempting to deal (very poorly) with the consequences over a century later.

Online debate over whether teepees are ‘inappropriate’ cubbies for caucasian kids

The assumption that teepees were unique too, as opposed to popularly associated with, North American Indians is presumptuous at least.

A bunch of branches arranged in a conical formation to support each other and draping skins over it would seem to be a likely obvious, and therefore commonly repeated, solution to retreating from the elements. If invented also in Europe or Asia but abandoned as their civilisations progressed is it really fair to say it is the distinct property of American Indians?

Hunting with spears and painting caves was done in Europe Millenia ago – they just progressed beyond it. But it is still part of their heritage. Should we try to understand the development of European cultures but erase the spears, paintings, animal sacrifice, skin clothes, tribes etc because they are now deemed the property of cultures that ground to a halt in the Stone Age?

Should we demand American Indians do not depict their ancestors riding ponies because it was an innovation introduced by the Spanish.

The fact only Westerners complain about this nonsense should be a clue that it id a ridiculous cultural affectation, not an essential indisputable foundation of humanity.

The visual similarity was strong but if the dates don’t fit you must acquit.

As noted, the visual similarity is uncanny – especially the shape of the smile and the nose in profile.

I know it is probably easy enough to create an impression of familial resemblance by carefully selecting a few photos that fit and rejecting the thousands that don’t, but the similarity really seems to be in features, not shot angles.

As for the claim that Diana and Hewitt were not involved at the time Harry was born – are we to take his, and the late her’s words for it. Even at the time there would have been strong reasons to divert attention.

I personally don’t care if he was sired by the equerry. He was treated and raised as Charles’ son. In every other way (other than genetic) he was raised as such and I think genetics far less distinctive than upbringing.

Unless Hewitt had a dickless pussy-whipped gene.

I got to that number by halving casualties and dividing by 10K which is about the size of a WW2 division.

Russian divisions for most of the war were typically smaller than that, most divisions were under 8k. A sizeable number only @5-6k, especially those divisions of Chuikovs 62nd army at Stalingrad, BEFORE the battle started.

William, Harry and Britain’s long history of royal sibling spats
Nigel Jones
Princes William and Harry (Credit: Getty images)

6 January 2023

5:02 AM

Fraternal relations rarely run entirely smoothly. But the degree of animosity revealed in reports of the physical clash between Princes William and Harry in the latter’s book Spare is nothing new in the turbulent history of Britain’s royals. In fact, the alleged spat between the brothers pales in comparison to the murderous hatreds between past regal siblings.

The bad blood began in 1077 when the two younger sons of William the Conqueror, coincidentally called William and Henry, emptied the contents of a chamber pot over the head of their elder brother Robert. So furious was Robert by his father’s refusal to punish his brothers for the prank that he launched an armed rebellion against him.

When William the Conqueror died, he left Normandy to Robert, but gave England’s crown to William who became King William II, known as Rufus. Henry had to be content with a bequest of money to buy himself land. The fragile arrangement did not last. In 1100 King William Rufus was killed by an arrow while hunting in the New Forest and Henry, ignoring Robert’s claim to the crown, lost no time in seizing the throne for himself.

Robert’s resentment festered. In 1106, his efforts to dethrone his brother provoked Henry into launching a full blown invasion of Normandy. He defeated and captured Robert at the Battle of Tinchebray and imprisoned his brother for the rest of his long life, until it ended in 1134 at Cardiff Castle. Robert’s beautiful tomb effigy can still be seen in Gloucester Cathedral.

In the 15th century, fraternal rivalry once more sparked full-scale warfare when King Edward IV fell out with his younger brother George, Duke of Clarence. Even though both brothers belonged to the same Yorkist faction during the Wars of the Roses, Clarence was envious of his brother’s rise and joined the opposing Lancastrians.

Though apparently reconciled, Clarence’s jealousy continued and he eventually accused Edward of witchcraft. The King reacted ruthlessly: Clarence was arrested, locked in the Tower of London, and sentenced to death. Given a choice of method he famously demanded to be drowned in a butt of Malmsey wine. He was buried in Tewkesbury Abbey.

More recent royal fraternal discord may have grown less lethal but has been just as vitriolic. In 1936, Edward VIII, like Prince Harry, resigned his royal responsibilities to wed an American divorcee. His younger brother George VI, Harry’s great-grandfather, sent Edward into exile, refused to take his phone calls and steadfastly resisted granting his wife Mrs Wallis Simpson the title of Royal Highness.

Though Harry is unlikely to reflect on it, this story of bickering brothers proves that there can be even worse things in royal life than a ripped off necklace.

Most pubs in UK don’t make much money & are brewery lease, the financial bar to entry isn’t very high.

However things really are different in the UK, as BoN’s linked article say he was doing a ten-year stretch for rape & was out on ‘licence’ when he was the landlord of the pub (in Finsbury Park, for those who know London)
A criminal conviction pretty much rules out anyone from even working in a pub here, never mind having been sentenced to a ten year stay at Club Ironbar.

Sinaloa drug cartel issues terrifying 72-hour ultimatum to president as violence rages (7 Jan)

The Sinaloa drug cartel has issued the Mexican government a terrifying ultimatum to release the son of El Chapo within 72 hours – or else suffer utter chaos.

Ovidio Guzmán-López, 32, alleged to be a leader of his father’s former cartel, was captured in Culiacán and flown to Mexico City on Thursday. Violence immediately flared up in response to the arrest, with at least 29 people killed so far.

By utter chaos I take it to mean they’ll go after people and places not usually threatened by the cartels. Tourists would be a likely target to put pressure on the authorities.

Kevin McCarthy Wins – But at the Cost of the Nation

From Armstrong Economics –

“Kevin McCarthy finally won the position of the speaker to the detriment of the entire nation for we will see business as usual on Capitol Hill, which is probably needed by our model to ensure the decline and fall of the United States by 2044. Congressman Mike Rogers lunged to attack Matt Gaetz on the house floor after he refused to vote for McCarthy merely saying “Present.” Gaetz is actually fighting for something he believes in, Draining the Swamp. Rogers wants the status quo – politics as usual. Kevin McCarthy offers no change whatsoever and being from California, well I think they should just separate and declare their own republic. California is no longer the land of the free and home of the brave from the days of Ronald Reagan. They refuse even to define what is a woman. They started a national crime wave of shoplifting and their streets are overpopulated with illegal aliens. Friends I had in California are leaving all the time. Pelosi, who destroyed San Francisco, is looking to retire to Florida in Naples with John Boehner.”

Yeah I will be fine.
However I reproduce now a Hun article that doesn’t fill me with confidence that Dutton will vote against Teh Voice:

Opposition leader Peter Dutton has warned Anthony Albanese that his refusal to release more detail on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament is a “catastrophic mistake” that will doom this year’s referendum to failure.

And he has accused the Prime Minister of treating voters “like mugs” in keeping the fine print secret.

In a fiery open letter laying out 15 Voice questions he wants answered, the Opposition Leader accused the PM and Indigenous Minister Linda Burney of running a deliberate political strategy to prevent Australians making an informed decision.

Mr Dutton’s move will be seen as preparing the groundwork for the Liberal Party to formally oppose the Voice when it meets after parliament resumes early next month.

“I believe you are making a catastrophic mistake in not providing accessible, clear and complete information regarding your government’s version of the Voice, condemning it to failure and, in turn, damaging reconciliation efforts in our country,” he wrote. “Your approach will ensure a dangerous and divisive debate grounded in hearsay and misinformation.”

Liberal MPs who spoke to The Sunday Telegraph this week said the mood in the party room had hardened against the proposal in recent weeks, and it was increasingly likely they would oppose it.

In November, the National Party announced it would oppose the Voice, but Liberals have yet to make up their minds on whether to formally support or oppose it, or allow its MPs to make their own decision about their position.

In his letter, Mr Dutton told the PM: “I am committed to being constructive on the issue of reconciliation and as you are aware from our discussions the Coalition will support any sensible and practical measures to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians.

“The incidence of sexual assault, domestic violence, and health outcomes, among many other issues, in Indigenous communities — particularly in regional and remote areas — is a national disgrace. It is imperative you explain how a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament will deliver tangible improvements in the lives of Indigenous Australians, which must remain the priority of Government.”

He warned a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament would be a body “without precedent” and a “significant change” to how Australia is governed.

Among the questions Mr Dutton wants answered are: who will be eligible to serve on the body; who will be able to nominate for it; and will the Government clarify the definition of Aboriginality to determine who can serve on it.

He also wants to know how much it will cost, how members will be elected, chosen or appointed, and how many will be on it.

More importantly, he wants to know its functions and powers, whether it will be purely advisory, or will it have decision-making capabilities — as well as whether it can be dissolved and reconstituted in extraordinary circumstances.

“Many Australians do not understand the scope and operation of the Voice and expect comprehensive information before being asked to vote,” he said.

“Regrettably, it now appears clear your political strategy is to not provide adequate detail for Australians to make an informed decision.

“In refusing to provide basic information and answer reasonable questions on the Voice, you are treating the Australian people like mugs.”

Mr Dutton wants assurances it won’t become “just another layer of bureaucracy similar to the failed ATSIC” or “interfere with the system of Government which has kept our country a stable and peaceful democracy”.

The government, he said, “must stop playing clever and tricky political games by withholding detail and rushing the referendum. I again call on you to provide the necessary detail on how the Voice will operate.”

Bother. Should have refreshed before commenting on the Maccas cups.

Just waved goodbye to the munchkins, and of course, the sun comes out!

What’s Western Australia like to live?
Blackball, From say Yanchep, draw a line to Albany. West of the line is pretty nice. Perth is a modern, relatively clean city. Northern suburbs are a Pom colony though. Perth beaches are great if that’s your thing.

Until a heap of those artists at McDonalds are done for CP, that’s just straight up Karening.

If you see filth everywhere in your mind you will see it in physical reality.

“In refusing to provide basic information and answer reasonable questions on the Voice, you are treating the Australian people like mugs.”

I don’t think Luigi the Unbelievable actually knows how the thing will function, only that he wants it. He’s going to wing it and see.

Icarus, come on down!

Very funny, I’m not sure I agree or disagree because I really don’t know. The Leb is calling Bitcoin an incredibly good imbecile detector.

“Mr Dutton’s move will be seen as preparing the groundwork for the Liberal Party to formally oppose the Voice when it meets after parliament resumes early next month.””

The problem with Dutton is that he’s being hindered by wet scum like Bragg and Birmingham and other remaining wets. There are still a few left in the Liberal Party, sadly the clean out on 21 May 2022 didn’t quite capture all of them.

According to the time stamps, I see posts about an hour after they are posted.

If Dutton knows what’s good for him – he will hold not fold.
