Nitrogenous toxic chemical that the Chinese notoriously used to fake tests for protein* content of baby powder. Which is why Chinese people still strip local supermarket shelves of that product to send back to China.
(* The tests were for nitrogen content. Protein contains nitrogen, but melamine contains a lot more of it and is much cheaper than protein for achieving the required N content. That it is poisonous didn’t stop the Chinese producers from saving a few pennies this way, which says a lot about Chinese entrepreneurial peoples.)

Two Steps from Hell – Victory Charge of the Australian Light Horse, Beersheba – extended version
Scrolling back through earlier posts I saw and viewed this recreation of the Charge. I have seen it before and wept, and I did today again.
When I was about fifteen I was on my pony when he bolted and couldn’t be readily pulled up. I had the strangest feeling that I had “been there before” – although, of course, I had been on bolting horses before. This time it was the dread of what was at the end. I eventually pulled him up, but I was quite shaken. Many, many years later I discovered the likelihood that a relative of my father had ridden in the 4th Light Horse. Strange.

I was doing recruit training at the old 2TrgGrp at Bardia Barracks at Ingleburn exactly 42 years ago . Bardia Barracks was the main training centre for 16 Brigade of the 6 Div during WW2, home at various times to different battalions of the RAR , training establishment for soldiers going to Korea and the Infantry Centre after that.
Only 2 platoons of recruits and 1 platoon of a Sergeants’ course were residence and thus on parade. I will swear the parade ground was full rather than just 90 of us + cadre. I wasn’t the only one who felt it.

The original massacre was supposed to have been carried out, in 1841 – … by a party of police and settlers, in the Lake Minninup region of Western Australia.
Initially, “Dozens” of Aborigines were supposed to have been murdered, then the claim was made that two hundred had been killed.
The “West Australian, of some months ago, carried an article, which I posted here, citing one of the tribal elders as claiming eight hundred Aborigines had been murdered.
So, though you won’t provide any origin for the claim, you’re still going to use it as a Strawman for your own baseless claims?

Fox fires @TuckerCarlson five days after he crosses the red line by acknowledging that the TV networks pushed a deadly and ineffective vaccine to please their Pharma advertisers. Carlson’s breathtakingly courageous April 19 monologue broke TV’s two biggest rules: Tucker told the truth about how greedy Pharma advertisers controlled TV news content and he lambasted obsequious newscasters for promoting jabs they knew to be lethal and worthless. For many years, Tucker has had the nation’s biggest audience averaging 3.5 million — 10 times the size of CNN. Fox just demonstrated the terrifying power of Big Pharma.

What abject rubbish! Have known some charismatic and amazing cats (including the human ones) in my time. Daughter has one at the moment. His name is Hagrid and I defy anyone not to be taken with this bold, charming and utterly captivating animal. He is a Maine Coon (we think) and he and his sister were rescue animals. They are quite unlike most domesticated cats – which is probably why they were abandoned. He is an utter Houdini and effortlessly climbs a two story building, opens the glass window shutters, and strolls in to eat the British Blue’s dinner. He has even worked out how to open a heavy barn door (domestic one). When he achieves the seemingly impossible, he looks up at you with what is definitely a “cat smile’.

I’ve heard it said here quite often that, we should force the Chinese government to allow reciprocity in terms of allowing Chinese people to purchase real estate in Australia. In theory, this is a reasonable argument, but in reality, it’s laughable because the chances of Australians buying Chinese real estate wouldn’t topple over a million dollars annually, by my estimate. In other words, the counterflow would be next to zero.
If the Chinese government removed capital controls on the Yuan, the wall of money leaving China would be a tsunami of mammoth proportions.

US has spent around 15million in 5 years on surgical and chemical mutilation of its own troops, as well as keeping them in “therapy”.
Apparently that doesnt cover everyone.
President Joe Biden reversed the policy on his fifth day in office, Jan. 25, 2021.
According to DoD, the department spent $11,582,262.99 on psychotherapy for service members with gender dysphoria from Jan. 1, 2016 through May 14, 2021. Within DoD, 637 service members received hormone therapy during the same time frame, at a cost of $340,000, and 243 surgeries were performed at a cost of $3.1 million.

Errr, no. The 39th Battalion fought well to delay the Japanese, but the actual turn back was by first the 21st Brigade, who arrived at Isurava to relieve the 39th, who bravely stayed with the AIF during the retreat, and the 16th, 21st and 25th Brigades, which with the 30th Brigade, took the battle to the Japanese, and pushed them aback.

Especially when it all takes place in a Norwegian eyrie accessed by the steepest Gondola with the most extraordinary views as a team of servants and underlings cater to every need of the protagonists, who seem oblivious to their surroundings. As James Delingpole pointed out, this show is about being unbearably rich, with the main game for viewers being to pick out how they subtly demonstrate this. One clue is that on getting into helicopters, for they travel everywhere in them, they do not instinctively duck their head as normal people do, fearing the great rotors. They are habituated to them and we peons are not. Apparently the scriptwriters and producers have hired ‘wealth consultants’ to make sure they get it right, all the moves, the clothing, the mannerisms. And there there are the personalities, and which of our friends, children, workmates or political foes they remind us of. Compelling watching, imho. Awards galore, but start at Series 1 or you’ll be lost forever.

Apparently they were singing auld lang syne as it went down to the blokes in the hold.
There were more POWs in the water than crew members. The POWs were holding pieces of wood and using bigger pieces as rafts. They were in groups of 20 to 30 people, probably 100 people in all. They were singing songs. I was particularly impressed when they began singing Auld Lang Syne as a tribute to their dead colleagues. Watching that, I learnt that Australians have big hearts.

I doubt they would raise the individual CGT above the corp income tax rate, as that would mean Juggise would make the CGT more expensive for individuals over corps. Can’t see it.
And Windschuttle’s expose of the massacre BS is very good; and he looks at the number of whites killed by the 3rd nations, a considerable number.

The series is really annoying as the dialogue is really try-hard cool. Folks don’t really talk like that, rich or even richer.

If you don’t know the history, why are you arguing?
Could it be that you are arguing in Bad Faith [and are an Idiot]?
Why would a voting masheen even exist if it wasn’t there to corrupt yours and many other’s vote?
The very concept mitigates against the secret ballot.
They were in groups of 20 to 30 people, probably 100 people in all.
A small number of the Japanese crew made it to land (whereupon most were killed by Philippine guerillas), but no PoWs did? None of the bodies of those 100 were washed ashore at some point? The guerilla intel network was reasonably functional at that time, from what I understand.
Call me a killjoy, but I’m skeptical of that eyewitness’s recollection after 61 years.
I don’t think I’ll bother. I could get a lot of cigars for that kind of dosh.
Windschuttle saw the light.
Elbow closed the curtains.
JC – labore are inveterate class warriors, if nothing else.
By the time they’re punted, if ever, we’ll have massively higher income taxes, a ninety percent CGT, a fifty percent GST, death duties and a CGT of 80% on family abodes.
And the gliberals will not reverse or reduce any of them.
The rates estimated above are “conservative”.
Windschuttle wrote three articles in “Quadrant” magazine about the “Myths of Frontier massacres” back in 2000. The final volume of his series on “The Fabrication of Aboriginal History” was also to be devoted to the subject, but it still seems to be on the drawing board.

Possibly; which is why I linked to an article where he refers extensively to other sources.
Crotchless, a word of advice: ease up on the meth; you’ve been posting like a headless chicken with .410 pellets up its arse.
Rabz – It’s a very culturally American sort of thing. Cutting edge and all that. The AEC and their voting pencils are actually superior but not sufficiently technonerdy for an American.
The news today that no less than seven previous CIA heads are involved in censoring and monstering conservatives is pretty good support for the Hammer and Scorecard hypothesis.
The series is really annoying as the dialogue is really try-hard cool. Folks don’t really talk like that, rich or even richer.

At three quarter time it was only the Bomber’s to lose.
Aaaaand they did.
Billions was much better value when the red headed limy was playing the Staten Island born, Bobby Axelrod. Didn’t like last season much.
I really can’t stand the cutesy-cool dialogue in Succession.
It usually dies down around September.

It’s probably over-emphasised for the US market, JC, but the Silicon Valley and certain media types do have a particular mode, which they can turn on and off. Biden’s ‘c’mon man’ is a feeble echo of it. Around the dot-com madness period 1999-2005 I met a few of them in the US on visits with Hairy, who held some IT guru status at that strange time. We were put up (by Microsoft) in some great hotel suites, and duchessed a bit. Hairy was researching at the international forefront of VOIP and wireless technology in those days. Unlaced shoelaces and dressing down were also big. As was profligate spending of other people’s money, pouring into startups that would never fly, although some did, and massively so. Also my friend of long ago, who married wealth and lived in a mansion in Bel Air where we visited her, moved in the Hollywood set, who also did that ‘cool’ talk. As she had learned to do. I think it has got even more pronounced since then. You’ll note that the older guys in Succession, the lawyers and advisers and general business people, don’t go on like that. It’s mainly the spoiled yoof.

the original article about Lake Minipin massacre was published in the Perth Gazette on March 13 1841. I guess it’s probably true dozens were killed.
Read it carefully, it is actually a forecast of an event to happen 40 years later. Ask Grandpa Ed Simpson, he’ll confirm this.
So why bother to build a business? People will just put more money into their own capital gains free housing, divest themselves of real estate investments, causing a rental crisis, and we can all slowly watch the economy disintegrate even further.
should be >..capital gains tax free housing ..
However, this will soon change, for they are slavering already about putting a cap on capital gains tax free homes, just as they are also looking hard at inheritance taxes.
They are going to squeeze us like lemons until the pips squeak. As it were.

Albanese’s comment makes no sense.
Or is this some blah blah guilt tripping for his racist referendum?
Probably looking at a month of leaked Budget nasties. First year of a three year term about the only chance of doing anything before you have to start thinking sweeteners.
Another group who used the ‘speak’ were derivatives traders and similar finance players. The movie Margin Call also tuned into the lingo. We had the table next to a group of them in Thailand once, a ver’ posh restaurant, where they must have spent many thousands of dollars on the best the house could offer in terms of food and wine. They were unstoppable, celebratory, and money was there to burn.

Provide an actual reference, either documents in archives, or a reliable website.
You can look it up, but I don’t give a F..k either way.
Particularly since you and another Labor Shill spent 2 days here puffing a totally fraudulent Labor Party approved history of australia during ww2.
Ooooh, have I upset you Grandpa Ed Simpson? Saaaaad.
Now, where is the evidence to support your Curtin deal with the Japanese brainfart? Still stuck up your arse with the evidence for the rest of your ludicrous assertions? Produce that and you might, just might, have a case that the history of WW II in Australia is fraudulent.

Disgusting comment from Albanese about the diggers. They all fought as one.
Read ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ if you doubt that aboriginal diggers were anything but diggers like the rest, and treated as such. Based on true life stories about the Burma Railroad.

You’re being a bit finicky there Boambee John. Are you a New South Welshman? The 53rd didn’t do quite as well as the Victorian 39th. I don’t blame them, it was a horrible place to have to be, but the 39th Bn guys were seriously amazing.
The discussion was about which part of the AMF turned the Japanese back on the Kokoda Trail. The 53rd Battalion did not, no matter what other militia units, including the 3rd Battalion as part of the 30th Brigade, achieved. The 3rd is a NSW battalion.

Terrible when the shift key jams. Commiserations there.
Even worse when the little iron rods all get jammed together, isn’t it.
Almost as bad as when the typewriter ribbon runs out and twists at the end.
Or when you are typing and your carbons get all messed up in the roller.
No better either when you try to make corrections with a little ‘white-out’ in a bottle.
Oh for the days of a simple quill and ink.

Definitely an arse pluck. Or maybe Grandpa Ed is a Flamer, and the final word should be shorter?
It’s a shame the black armband proponents of Australian history have become so dominant in recent decades. By portraying past generations of indigenous Australians as wholly victims, they have erased the existence and experience of those Aborigines who successfully straddled two cultures. For the first few decades at least, this must have been challenging.
Now we are left with a branded image of the flaccid, unintelligent, weak-minded and weak-bodied native, submitting with barely a blink to the psychopathic whims of an ocean of subhuman devils.
One wonders how the early post-contact generations of tribal elders would respond if a younger member spat in their face literally?
