Pretty sure the people of Gaza would have seen 1000’s of rockets being deployed in the day(s) before this.
Yet no one did anything.

Yeah, funny that.

Mark Leach is an Anglican priest here in Sydney. He posted this on X overnight…

This afternoon, in Sydney, I briefly waved an Israeli flag off to the side of a pro Palestian protest. I was on the steps of the Anglican Cathedral. I am an Anglican clergyman. I am the child of a German Jewish mother who fled the holocaust. I wanted to make a small stand against the genocidal hatred of Hamas being supported by the pro Palestinian mob. I wanted to show the Jews of Australia that Christians (who after all are simply followers of a Jew), would stand for them, and for Israel, in the face of such hatred and contempt.

On this afternoon I was chased off the steps of the Cathedral. I ran, followed by a small mob of large angry Muslims hurling abuse at me. I ran onto George St and hid behind a police van. The police dispersed the group who were looking for me.

I have not been that scared in a long, long time.

Why did I do it?

Because Australia is surely the best country in the world! Our democracy, our free speech, our rule of law, our multi-cultural diversity and acceptance of each other, our freedom of religion, and our safety make us the envy of the world. And all of that was being eroded this afternoon.

The Islamist/Jihadist strategy is to instil fear in non-muslim populations so that they will either convert to Islam, or live in dhimitude (a state of subservience to muslims). And the fear in the Jewish population in Sydney is palpable. The Police Minister, to their shame, warned the Jews to stay away from Town Hall or the Opera House because the police could not (or would not?) guarantee their safety.

I took a tiny stand because we cannot, we must not, give in to such fear. We cannot fear upsetting Islamic sensibilities and so self-censor our speech and religion and policing. We, as Jews, cannot give in to the fear that our Gentile Australian neighbours will turn against us if we ‘stir up trouble’ by speaking up for, and standing up for our rights as citizens. We must not cede one iota of our precious liberal, secular, democratic, pluralist state. Never again means never again.

Talking to people on the Downs (outside of Teachers’ Union Toowoomba) there is total disbelief at Albanese’s ignorance and contempt for Australia.
He’s going to need that Muzzie vote.

That’s unfortunate:

On Sunday, sections of Australia’s Muslim community condemned the Australian government’s stance on the conflict.

The Lebanese Muslim Association, based in Lakemba, issued a statement on Sunday afternoon stating it felt “blindsided” by Mr Albanese, who on Friday visited the Lakemba Mosque regarding the Voice to parliament, a day before the fighting began in Israel and Gaza.

It’s possible to see why it took Team Albo 12 hours to workshop support for Israel.

Last week, Pat Condell, for the first time in a long time uploaded a video on the LGBTQI+ perverts and grooming. Despite quickly gaining over 100K viewers, Youtube took it down. As Condell says, ‘Youtube’ is now mainstream media.

From herein, Pat Condell will only be uploading now on Rumble and other alternative media. He is worth supporting.

Is Lizzie riding in this?

A cute little Fiat? lol. Those who know Hairy could never see him at the wheel of that I am sure. We are in a big SUV, black, basic, made by Opel who are a Cherman company. The good thing about little Fiats is you can park them most places; not so with a big SUV. Sheer looxury here in this Italian villa, as once the gates close you have a big parking area and only two cars in it – ours, and ‘the boss’s’ SUV Porsche.

The concierge and general factotum around here is Sri Lankan and today showed me how to use the very fearful iron in the villa’s laundry. It weighed about three kilos and was attached to a tank by two 1/2 inch diameter black electric cords, making it very unwieldly. Speaking in my very bad Singhalese and his equally bad English, garnished with a little Italian which I guessed from French, we got along well. He told me he looks after ‘the boss’ who is old and lives in a sectioned off part of the main villa. I’ve never seen or heard him. Why this big iron? I ask, when he tells me the laundry from the 4 lettable rooms goes to a firm in town. It is to do the boss shirts, he indicates, opening a cabinet door to show a row of them hanging beautifully done. I do his shirts, I cooking him, I am drive him, I do ride-on mow him, I meet the peoples for stay, and I do rooms, says my new friend. Boss is good me, he concludes.

I went for a lone walk around the grounds down to the tennis court, and found much of the acre or so overgrown, grass high and weedy, running to swamp by the river tributary. No ride-on mow down there, I note, and also note that the premises at the rear entry gate are well-kept, but at the actual front of the building, the original entry, there is dereliction. The driveway needs more gravel, the roses lining it are struggling, the mondo grass is patchy and weeds are spring up everywhere. Vines and overhanging branches from trees hundreds of years old and left uncontrolled have taken over this area. I walk towards what seems to be a small arbour and find it is actually an old well, with a winder-chain and an ancient hanging bucket to bring up water, the original clean water source for the house, now all tangled with vines. Old stone and terracotta pots as big as me are covered in lichen and mould.

Thirty years ago this house seems to have been a wedding venue, but no more. The rooms we enjoy are still high quality as are the common-use interiors, full of good things, but the gardens are only maintained at the rear entry, where all looks like well-kept parkland with floral borders. The neglected front aspect, not seen by visitors usually unless they walk around, is where the main C16th frescos of the house still exist, so faded now externally, but showing the original owner, like something from a Renaissance painting, and his son and his son’s wife. Beneath them lower on the building is a freize of cupids. A family home. When ‘the boss’ is gone, I wonder what it’s new future will be.

Yesterday was probably more shocking for Minns than Albo. He authorises the lighting of the Opera House sails with Israel flag but at the same time allows the police to issue a permit for a Muslim protest in the city*. When things start getting ugly his police arrest a Jew who is only carrying an Israeli flag but leave alone all the muslims setting off flares and fireworks. To me it looks like muslims are in charge of this state, what they want they get. I think he will live to regret this day.

*Why was the permit given for protest in the city and Opera House and not only for Lakemba? The police minister and the commissioner are completely incompetent, giving these vital jobs to women was not such a smart move after all.

It’s very quiet here, not yet midnight. This whole area was once the breadbasket of the Renaissance, producing farina in an old factory close by this house, adding value to raw wheat, next to the tributary leading down to the river, the transport towards Venice. The factory, with a new modern extension, still produces farina, quite noisily, during the days. The first owners here were wealthy people due to the fertility of the lands they owned and the work of its peasantry and the value the factory added. Now the suburbs have moved in and isolated this place in its own past.

We’re going to have a look around Treviso town tomorrow.

Just out in the Oz:

NSW Police Minister should resign over Jewish community call

Simon Benson

It is almost beyond belief that Jewish residents of Sydney have been told to stay in their homes because the police can’t guarantee their safety.

This is nothing short of a disgrace. And the NSW police Minister Yasmin Catley should resign for allowing this to happen.

There is almost no equivalent for the appalling lack of judgment by the NSW police to allow a pro-Palestinian march on the CBD, knowing members of the Jewish community might want to attend the Opera House.

This has denied the Jewish community the right to join in solidarity over the murder of their people in favour of a protest that seeks to celebrate it. Presumably the protest will have a police escort.

With all the instruments of State, it is equally implausible that the NSW police can’t keep the Jewish community safe.

And it could have easily been resolved.

Catley must bear ultimate responsibility for this decision – one which flies in the face of the decision of her Premier Chris Minns to light up the Opera House in the first place as a mark of respect to the Jewish community.

And it is one the minister will come to regret.

One can only imagine the shock from Jewish leaders when told by police that they should urge people to stay at home.

They will be justifiably outraged and should be demanding of an explanation from the NSW government and the NSW police.

EU suspends aid to Palestine

There can be no more “business as usual,” Brussels has declared

The EU has suspended all aid and development assistance to Palestine in the wake of the attack by militant group Hamas on Israel, the bloc announced on Monday. Further aid-related budget proposals have also been postponed “until further notice,” according to EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi.

Brussels will review its entire aid and development policy towards Palestine, the official said, claiming that the “scale of terror and brutality against Israel and its people” was a “turning point” for the EU.

“There can be no business as usual,” Varhelyi said in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter). “We need action and we need it now.”

The comments came following a surprise attack by Hamas which saw militants breach Gaza’s border with Israel and briefly overrun several settlements after a massive rocket attack. The Israeli authorities have estimated that more than 700 people were killed in the assault and over 2,200 injured.

According to Varhelyi, the EU has been “the biggest donor” to the Palestinians and Monday’s decision will affect development aid worth €691 million ($728.8 million). “All payments [are] immediately suspended. All projects [have been] put under review,” he said, adding that “the foundations for peace, tolerance and co-existence must now be addressed.”

The commissioner further stated that “incitement of hatred, violence, and glorification of terror have poisoned the minds of so many.” According to the Financial Times, the EU had pledged a total of €1.18 billion ($1.24 billion) in support for both the West Bank and Gaza between 2021 and 2024.

The EU Commission denied that any of its funding had gone to Hamas, which it designates as a terrorist group. “The EU is not funding Hamas or their terrorist activities directly or indirectly,” the bloc said in the wake of Saturday’s attack, adding that it had maintained a “no contact policy” with the organization since 2007.

The decision by Brussels came a day after Berlin announced that it would also halt aid to Palestinians and review assistance and development programs. German Development Minister Svenja Schulze called the Hamas attack a “terrible turning point,” stating that Berlin would “examine our entire commitment to the Palestinian territories.”

Scotland’s first minister says relatives ‘trapped’ in Gaza

Humza Yousaf’s in-laws have “nowhere to go” as Israel bombs the Palestinian territory

“I’m in a situation where, frankly, night by night, day by day, we don’t know whether or not my mother-in-law and father-in-law – who have nothing to do, as most Gazans don’t, with Hamas or with any terror attack – whether they will make it through the night or not,” Yousef elaborated on Monday, adding that he and his wife “can’t sleep” and are constantly watching their phones waiting for any sort of reply.

I’m worried about my family. There will be many people, including in Scotland’s Jewish community for example, who will be really worried about their family in Israel that have come to harm,” Yousaf said. “My thoughts go out to everybody, because innocent civilians have nothing to do with the conflict, they have nothing to do with Hamas terror, have nothing to do with the loss of life and they’re the ones often – innocent people – who are paying the price.”

Man arrested for bringing Israeli flag to Sydney pro-Palestinian protest says ‘police should feel ashamed of themselves’

A Sydney man has slammed police for arresting him after he brought an Israeli flag to a pro-Palestinian rally on Monday night, claiming the actions of the officers were “excessive”.

Mark Spiro said he was hauled away by three police officers after being at a pro-Palestinian protest in Sydney’s CBD on Monday afternoon for “literally three seconds”.

“I walked from Town Hall Station across the road with a rolled up flag. I was literally at the protest for three seconds,” the Jewish father-of-two told Sky News reporter Caroline Marcus.

“The next thing I know I’ve got multiple police officers trying to grab the flag off of me, then carry me away from the scene, telling me I’m arrested for breach of the peace.”

Mr Spiro said police had planned to put him in a paddy wagon but he managed to negotiate, giving officers his flag and agreeing not to return to the city for 24 hours.

“It was excessive and at the time having both your arms pinned back for effectively having a rolled up Israeli flag was shocking and confronting,” he said.

“Then being dragged by that I felt like a ragdoll.”

The Sydney businessman says he simply wanted to show solidarity for Israel at the protest, which included calls for the extermination of Israel and chants of death to Jews.

“The police they should feel ashamed of themselves quite frankly. I was an innocent bystander with a rolled up Israeli flag,” Mr Spiro said.

“The people, that we are supporting and allowing a platform to celebrate the murder, rape, abduction of children, women, the elderly are allowed to desecrate one of our most famous sites.”

A New South Wales Police spokesperson said the man was arrested to prevent a breach of the peace but no further action will be taken.

Slovakia halts military aid for Ukraine as parties that oppose it negotiate to form a new government

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Slovakia’s president has refused a plan by her country’s caretaker government to send further military aid to Ukraine, saying it doesn’t have the authority and parties that oppose such support are in talks to form a government following last week’s election.

The presidential office said in a statement Thursday that the current government of technocrats has only limited powers because it lost a mandatory confidence vote in Parliament on June 15, a month after President Zuzana Caputova swore it in.

The technocrat Cabinet was created with the aim of leading the country to Saturday’s early election.

Well that was an error

He needed to stick to his guns and refuse, like I did in Canberra, where I spent 6 days in solitary for refusing to accept bail conditions that required me to stop protesting. If he wanted to make a point, he needed to carry through on it.

Scott Ritter: Are Hamas fighters using American weapons meant for Ukraine?

A video, the authenticity of which has yet to be verified, purports to show a Hamas fighter thanking Ukraine for the provision of small arms, ammunition, and hand grenades. More videos, taken during the actual assaults, show the Hamas fighters armed with a plethora of US-made weapons.

These videos have alarmed some US lawmakers, such as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia’s 14th District, who, in the immediate aftermath of the Hamas attack, Tweeted/Xeeted:

“We need to work with Israel to track serial numbers on any US weapons used by Hamas against Israel. Did they come from Afghanistan? Did they come from Ukraine? Highly likely the answer is both.”

Any attempt to answer Marjorie Taylor Greene’s questions will more than likely turn up information that should make the US government very uncomfortable.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been saying since June of this year that US-made anti-tank weapons intended for Ukraine were turning up on the Israeli border. Left unsaid by Netanyahu was how this had come to be – corruption is rampant inside Ukraine, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has reported on hundreds of millions of dollars of aid being diverted into the hands of parties it was not originally intended for.

By my calculations based on conversations with numerous informed sources, the amount diverted could be as high as six out of every ten dollars of assistance sent to Ukraine. It’s one thing if this involves money; it’s another thing altogether if this involves weapons.

The wide availability of US-made weapons on the global black market used by terrorists/freedom fighters to arm themselves is reflective of the lax approach the US takes when it comes to providing military assistance to parties involved in active combat.

The US appears to be more interested in reinforcing the political messaging attached to such deliveries-that the US is actively supporting friends in need. The actual security-related aspects of this effort, however, seem to escape most senior US policy makers.

Ho Chi Minns is the NSW Premier on big money cos he’s, supposedly, responsible for the running of the State and selection of “his” Cabinet members

Unless the rules have changed very recently, that’s not how it works with Labor.

The Caucus chooses the people, and the leader only allocates the portfolios. Arguably there may have been a better candidate for Police Minister, but given that the Ministry is basically a factional carve-up, the talent pool is necessarily pretty shallow. There are more important portfolios like Health and Education which require a modicum of ability, so the dunderheads simply have to be put somewhere else.

Why Would Anyone Defend Hamas’ Pogrom?

It wasn’t just a crime against Israel — it was a crime against all humanity.

Among other atrocities, Hamas terrorists waited in vans to slaughter 260 Jews who were among the thousands attending a music festival — a genocidal crime that was the largest single murder of Jews since the Holocaust.

The mostly young people who were murdered in that ambush, and the many elderly people, women and children killed in Hamas attacks across southern Israel, were not part of any military operation nor caught in any crossfire. They were deliberately targeted — on the streets, at a bus stop, or in their homes — for brutal killings and kidnappings that we are only now learning about. It was easy to do because it was inconceivable that such war crimes would be committed by supposed freedom fighters.

Now we have learned from the Wall Street Journal that Iran was at the heart of the planning, funding and approval of this operation — making a mockery of an American administration that freed up to $6 billion in exchange for the release of five hostages. Already, more Americans have been reported lost in this fighting than were recovered by that deal and, of course, new hostages — reportedly including more Americans — have been taken.

In what world do any of today’s Harvard divinity students live that they would excuse assassinating women, children and teenagers enjoying a music festival? This was not the result of an accident or of crossfire in war but a planned genocidal act that no Harvard student should cheer on or encourage, no matter what the cause. Would these students have excused a leftist terrorist group gunning down kids leaving a Taylor Swift concert and then claim Donald Trump was responsible? One wonders.

No people have endured what Jews have endured, from slavery to dispersion to a Holocaust in which 6 million Jews were murdered only because of their religion.

These acts by Hamas echo this history and the recent rise of antisemitism.

Rather than acts of liberation, they were desperate acts to prevent a peace that the world believed was in reach until the actions of Hamas and Iran instead plunged the Middle East into war.

Barack Obama’s silent on Israel war because he paved the way for it

By Post Editorial Board

Former President Barack Obama has a powerful presence in social and other forms of media. Just last week he took to the digital airwaves to mourn the passing of US football great Dick Butkus.

This makes his silence on the current war in Israel all the more repugnant.

As we write, he’s said nothing. But as thunderous as the silence is, it cannot come as a surprise.

This is the future of the Middle East that Obama, in effect, wanted, fought for and now has achieved: Iran ascendant; nascent normalization between Israel and Arab states in jeopardy; the terrorist group Hamas emboldened and abetted by Tehran to strike viciously against soft targets within Israel.

Why?

Because for Obama, a fundamental restructuring of the region was the paramount goal — both in policy terms and to satisfy his own sense of himself as a world-historical figure.

The Obama administration’s vision saw an empowered Iran as a fulcrum to force action from Israel on the Palestinian question.

Thus the Iran deal, which set the mullahs on the path toward nuclear breakout and regional hegemony they are now speeding down.

Thus Obama’s support of political Islam elsewhere — be it the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt or Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey — and his cession of Syria to Vladimir Putin.

Obama’s White House marketed this as “realism.”

It was no such thing but rather part of a pernicious and (as we have now seen) wantonly destructive radical idealism that blamed America and her allies, like Israel, for all global suffering.

The Trump years saw an interruption: a withdrawal from the Iran deal and a return to a close alliances with our actual allies in the region.

This is what I mean, shouting “Nazis”, ignoring real Nazis at Sydney’s Town Hall and the Opera House. Again, this electorate is John Howard’s old electorate, if the Liberals had their act together they’d have chosen a candidate for Bennelong already.

Jerome Laxale’s WeChat account in the spotlight for linking No vote to the Nazis.

Chinese-Australian voters have been told that if they did not support the Voice to Parliament they would be seen as being in favour of “war” and “Nazis” by a social media account which purports to be authorised by a local North Sydney MP.

Chinese-Australian voters have been told that if they did not support the Voice to Parliament they would be seen as being in favour of “war” and “Nazis” by a social media account which purports to be authorised by a local North Sydney MP.

The comments, which have been branded “condescending”, were made in a WeChat group for locals in the Bennelong electorate by an account apparently operated by Labor MP Jerome Laxale’s office.

In screenshots of the discussion, which took place on September 29, the ‘Laxale account’ said, “If we look at who is calling for the (no) vote, we will find that their leaders are Peter Dutton, who loves to peddle war, and Pauline Hanson, who is against Asian immigrants.”

Referring to neo-Nazis who oppose the Voice, the account continued, “The Nazi group certainly did not represent everyone, but their interests were the same”.

“The logic of this is not hard to understand.”

The account was not suggesting Mr Dutton and Ms Hanson were neo-Nazis.

It is not clear whether the posts were made by Mr Laxale himself or someone in his office, however Mr Laxale’s photo appeared on the account alongside Chinese characters reading, “federal parliamentarian Jerome” and an electoral authorisation.

It is a requirement of electoral law that politicians place an authorisation on their accounts.

Mr Laxale was contacted for clarification as to whether the account was legitimate and operated by his office, however despite the claims made by the account many participants in the discussion disagreed and indicated they would be voting “no”.

One participant wrote, “because the Nazi group opposed the Voice, so opposition to the Voice is similar to the Nazis, there is a problem with this logic.”

Another wrote, “Warren Mundine, Jacinta Price, and (Lidia) Thorpe were all Indigenous leaders … they were not Nazis!”

In response, the ‘Laxale account’ tried to shut down the debate, with the app’s translation function revealing, “I am reminding you that your words and deeds are inappropriate and not that you are not allowed to speak.”

“Please pay attention to your speech … we do not welcome intentionally raising any bars to lead to war.”

Another agreed with those disputing the ‘Laxale account’ claims and attempts to shut down discussion, saying, “Why can’t I express my opinion as a local resident?”

‘Cynical ploy’: Yes campaign pinged over ‘misleading’ signs

‘Can’t waltz in’: Western Sydney mayor says ‘no’ to Voice event

Chinese community media commentator Jeffrey Wang said that the “tone” of the “response to perfectly reasonable questions from the Chinese community is extremely condescending.”

“It’s like he expects all of his Chinese constituents to think the same way and no explanation is warranted.”

Mr Wang added that “it’s clear that these Chinese constituents are sophisticated and have read up on the issue and called out the logical fallacy of his rhetoric comparing ‘no’ voters to Nazis.”

Two points…

I await Laxale’s condemnation of real Nazis at Town Hall and the Sydney Opera House last night.

I have a strong feeling that the Australian Chinese community will overwhelmingly vote NO.

Delusion in the White House. Bloodshed in Israel.

This administration thought it could tame the world’s rogue actors. It was wrong.

As Hamas gunmen were in the initial stages of a raid that has left more than 700 dead, 2,408 wounded, and at least 100 held hostage in Gaza, the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs in Jerusalem weighed in on the unfolding horror.

“We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has incurred,” the official X account for the office posted. “We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.”

Observers of America’s policy in the Middle East will recognize the telltale talking points: the urging of restraint in the face of terror; the implied cycle of violence. The peace process has been dead for years, but the mindset behind it survives.

Let’s be clear. The timing of these diplomatic platitudes was grotesque. Here was the official bureau of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, which deals with the Palestinian Authority, calling on Israel to refrain from responding to the worst slaughter of innocent Jews since the Holocaust.

The original post was soon erased. Subsequent statements from President Biden and his senior advisers have dropped the both-sidesism and focused instead on Israel’s right to defend herself.

Nevertheless, this administration has a serious problem. While the official rhetorical response to the attack has been strong, there is a wide chasm between the president’s words and his administration’s actions.

Biden Admin Says Calls for Israel Ceasefire ‘Not Accurate’

By Philip Wegmann – RCP Staff

Statements from the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs and Secretary of State Antony Blinken posted to social media over the weekend “did not accurately reflect” the position of the Biden administration in the wake of a deadly Hamas terrorist attack, a State Department spokesman told RealClearPolitics.

The White House has not called on Israel to stand down, and in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, President Biden promised that military assistance was “now on its way to Israel with more to follow over the coming days.”

Blinken repeatedly echoed that sentiment from Biden on the Sunday show circuit.

“The only things we’ve said to Israel are that we’re here, we’ve got your back, we want to make sure that you have the support that you need,” he told Margaret Brennan on CBS News’ Face the Nation. “We want to make sure that you have the assistance that you need.”

And yet Sunday evening, in a since-deleted post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Blinken seemed to back a ceasefire.

“Turkish Foreign Minister @HakanFidan and I spoke further on Hamas’ terrorist attacks on Israel. I encouraged Turkey’s advocacy for a cease-fire and the release of all hostages by Hamas immediately,” the secretary of state wrote.

This came after the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs shared a similar sentiment early Saturday morning, saying, “We unequivocally condemn the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has incurred. We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.” That initial tweet was also taken down later.

Larry Summers rips Harvard as student groups blame Israel for Hamas attacks: ‘Sickened’

Larry Summers, the former Treasury Secretary and Harvard University president, blasted the Ivy League school’s administration over its lack of response to dozens of student groups who blamed Israel for Hamas’ surprise attack this weekend.

“In nearly 50 years of @Harvard affiliation, I have never been as disillusioned and alienated as I am today,” Summers, the former Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton who later went on to advise Barack Obama in the White House, wrote on his X social media account.

“The silence from Harvard’s leadership, so far, coupled with a vocal and widely reported student groups’ statement blaming Israel solely, has allowed Harvard to appear at best neutral towards acts of terror against the Jewish state of Israel.”

“Instead, Harvard is being defined by the morally unconscionable statement apparently coming from two dozen student groups blaming all the violence on Israel,” he wrote, adding: “I am sickened.”

Summers reacted on Monday to a statement signed by more than 30 Harvard student organizations who said they were holding Israel “entirely responsible” for Hamas’ mass slaughter.

MARK ALMOND: The savagery displayed by Hamas will change the world more than 9/11 did. Now China and Russia will move to seize the advantage

Beyond the immediate devastation, the shockwaves from the barbaric assault by Hamas on Israel are now reverberating across the world.

Monstrous in its scale, pitiless in its savagery, this unprecedented attack has ramifications that may be felt far beyond the Middle East — and for decades to come.

It is no exaggeration to argue that the primitive savagery displayed by Hamas at the weekend has sparked a geopolitical earthquake.

The sudden shifting of global tectonic plates means that not only Israel’s local rivals, such as Iran, but the West’s rivals, China and Russia, may well now move to take advantage of the immediate focus on the Middle East.

Contrary to most Western reporting, the terrorists’ cynical slaughter of defenceless civilians, raping women and kidnapping others, gets little mention in the Arab media.

No excuses for murder of innocents in the Middle East

The Middle East has a long, complex and bitter history of conflict, but there is absolutely no justification for slaughtering hundreds of civilians in a street or at a music festival. Those who make excuses for the indiscriminate murder of innocent people in Israel on the weekend should be ashamed.

They not only anoint terror as an acceptable weapon, but play into the hands of extremists on both sides of the conflict. They also help erase attempts at resolution through moderation.

Incredibly, they profess support for people whose actions are beyond the pale:

the Hamas militants who carried out the weekend’s incursion into Israel showed a brutal contempt for humanity, with the release on Monday of hostage footage showing an unidentified Holocaust survivor and grandmother forced to pose with a Hamas rifle.

The Herald would like to think that those who hold the view that the Hamas attack was provoked must at the same time recognise the slaughter was entirely unjustified.

Yet social media has been littered with comments from users pointing out how long the people of Palestine had been oppressed, or that they live in the world’s biggest open air prison.

All of this may be true and reasonable to point out.

But to wilfully ignore or explain away the massacre of hundreds of civilians by a proscribed terrorist organisation is deeply alarming.

AN “Immediate, BRUTAL RESPONSE” from Israel is EXACTLY what the moon-god worshipers want, because it will drag Israel down to the level of the psychopaths.

There are more “interesting” and effective ways to administer “attitude adjustment” but, to be effective, the details should not be published on the front pages of Haaretz or the New York Slimes.

I see you monty.
Now have a look at this shit. Daily Telegraph:

Attorney-General Michael Daley admitted that he’s “not really across” one of Sydney’s most explosive and divisive protests in recent memory because he “worked late last night”.

Fireworks and flares lit up the stairs of Sydney’s iconic Opera House on Monday night with a rowdy pro-Palestine rally descending into protesters burning an Israeli flag, lobbing projectiles at police and chanting “f-ck Albanese”.

In an appearance on Ben Fordham’s 2GB radio show on Tuesday morning, Michael Daley admitted he was not up to date on the protest chaos that has gripped Sydney.

“Well it’s not something that’s in my portfolio Ben, so I’ll just have to find out some details from within (the) government later and get back to you if you like,” he told radio host Ben Fordham.

“You’re across what happened last night at the Opera House though?” Fordham replied.

“Not really no, I worked late last night, I’m not really across that no,” Daley said.

Fordham responded: “We had a protest last night outside the Opera House. The Israeli flag was burned. And Jewish Sydneysiders were told to stay at home…

As a back-and-forth bagam Mr Daley responded

“I think everybody needs to just calm down and as you say… do stay at home… what everyone needs to do is show restraint and respect. And calm down…”

Fordham asked what the point of lighting up the Opera House was if everyone had to stay home.

“I think all people should stay home for their own safety,” Mr Daley responded.

When asked if NSW and Sydney were unsafe, Mr Daley said: “I’m confident that the police have got this under control as they always do.”

Mr Daley added: “Dividing into camps and barracking over what’s a horrific situation in the Middle East is just not acceptable.

“What everyone needs to do is show restraint and respect and calm down.

“Stop dividing into teams and competing with each other with various forums or on the streets, this is Australia, not Israel or Palestine.”

Meanwhile, NSW Opposition leader Mark Speakman backed the government’s decision to light the sails of the Opera House white and blue in solidarity with Israel but said there wasn’t enough planning or security.

“I commend Chris Minns for making that gesture, it was appropriate to extend our solidarity with the local Jewish community,” Speakman told Ben Fordham on 2GB on Tuesday.

“But there appears to be a lack of planning, security and what has been allowed to happen is that the opportunity for the Jewish community to have a peaceful vigil has been hijacked.

“Protesters have been allowed to take over the streets and march down to the opera house.”

“f*ck the Jews” chants at fiery rally
Fireworks and flares lit up the stairs of Sydney’s iconic Opera House on Monday night.

Moments after the blue and white colours of the Israeli flag lit up the Opera House sails, members of the crowd – which had earlier marched from Town Hall – started screaming “f*ck Israel”, and “f*ck the Jews” from behind covered faces.

Multiple flares and fireworks were lit in the crowd and at least one glowing red flare was thrown onto the Opera House steps, where it was hastily dumped by police into a bucket of water as the air filled with acrid smoke.

Waving Palestinian flags, men, women and even small children alternated between chanting “Free Palestine” and “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great in Arabic), led in part by a small boy hoisted onto shoulders and wielding a megaphone.

Plea for peaceful rally
It comes after at least two bits of rubbish, including a water-filled bottle, were lobbed at a line of more than 100 police watching over the gathering as members of the crowd ignored organisers’ pleas for a peaceful rally.

One of the rally organisers, Fahad Ali screamed into a megaphone for the protesters to respect the police – with others ignoring the call.

After 9pm the march spilled from the steps of the Opera House onto the streets, with protesters marching back through Circular Quay, stunning onlookers.

Protesters shouted at police as they ran towards Circular Quay train station. Police ran to form a blockade in the train station preventing the protesters from going further into the street.

Some protesters appeared to throw objects at the police as they chanted.

It is believed more than 700 protesters converged on the Opera House forecourt in defiance of the Prime Minister who called for pro-Palestine supporters to abandon the rally.

The crowd were waving Palestinian flags while an Israeli flag was ripped up and stomped on.

Close to 100 police officers stood in a line between the group of protesters and the landmark.

Just after 5.30pm officers spotted a man supporter with an Israeli flag.

He was arrested and removed by police to prevent a breach of the peace.

He was issued a move-on direction and released.

Members of the Jewish community were warned to stay away from the area for their own safety.

Jewish leaders were quick to blast the flag burning, calling it an act of “violence and hatred” as tensions between Israeli and Palestinian Australians reached a boiling point on Monday night.

“The Palestinian movement has been revealed for all to see. This isn’t about a territorial dispute. It is about supremacism, violence and hatred. It doesn’t seek to build peace, it seeks only to destroy. Our political leaders must now take note,” Executive Council of Australian Jewry co- chief executive Alex Ryvchin said.

Colin Rubenstein, executive director of the Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) said the throwing of flares, chanting of abuse and burning of the Israeli flag was “deeply disgusting”.

“This is deeply disgusting and offensive behaviour. Morally it’s bankrupt and of course we would expect the authorities to be closely scrutinising this behaviour. One has to understand that inciting violence is an offence in Australia,” he said.

Opposition leader Peter Dutton called the Opera House scenes “despicable” and criticised Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for failing to stop the protest from taking place.

“These were despicable scenes in Sydney tonight and they are unimaginable in modern Australia. I condemn the actions of the activists and protesters,” Mr Dutton said.

“They have no place in our country. It’s a reminder of the fact that we need to continue our strong support for the people of Israel and the Jewish community here in Australia at what is a very dark hour.

“The Prime Minister should have been in contact with community leaders to stop this protest from taking place.”

Premier Chris Minns condemned the “horrible scenes” at the Opera House.

He said the protesters “do not represent the people of NSW”.

“This sort of behaviour incites violence and creates division,” he said.

Earlier on Monday Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned plans for the pro-Palestine march in Sydney, calling the Hamas attack on Israel “indefensible” and an “atrocity that deserves condemnation of all”.

Mr Albanese told 2GB’s Chris O’Keefe the rally should be cancelled and “absolutely” should not go ahead.

“(It will) create a climate that is not conducive to peace and the objective of wanting to see Palestinians and Israelis living a peaceful and secure life. This does not support it at all.”

Netanyahu denies reports Egypt warned of Gaza attacks
Staff WritersDeutsche Presse Agentur
Tue, 10 October 2023 3:58AM

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied media reports that Egypt had warned Israel of an imminent attack from the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s office described media reports that Egypt had tried to warn Israel ahead of Saturday’s deadly co-ordinated attacks by Hamas militants as “totally fake news”.

Israeli media previously reported that Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel had warned Netanyahu 10 days before the Hamas attacks that “something unusual, a terrible operation” was to be expected from the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s office denied that, saying the Israeli prime minister had not spoken with Kamel – either directly or indirectly – since forming his current coalition government late last year.

Netanyahu’s government and the country’s security services have faced criticism and serious questions from Israelis over how intelligence failed to learn of the attacks in advance and how the military was caught so unprepared along the fortified border with Gaza.

The EU wanders onto the world stage:

“There can be no business as usual,”

After a brisk two hour review:

EU U-turns after halting Palestinian funding following Hamas attack

But, other than that, rock solid:

Some diplomats also pointed out the different reactions of the EU institutions over the weekend. The Berlaymont, the headquarters of the European Commission, was illuminated in the colors of the Israeli flag. The building of the European Council, on the other hand, was lit up without visualizing that flag — a sign of a more nuanced approach from member states.

[An] official from a member state expressed concerns at the wisdom of the Commission’s stance. “Of course, we all condemn the heinous attack on Israel, but Israelis are likely to launch their own offensive in Gaza over the next week, and have already announced a siege, so a broad statement with more nuance would have been better,” said the EU official.

You can never have too much nuance.

BTW: Earlier I mentioned a video that Dave Reaboi mentioned seeing showing a mob setting fire to a girl. This video was from 2008, and showed a mob of Guatemalans going vigilante on a woman who I think they accused of shooting someone or participating in an armed robbery.

So it was propaganda. Actually, I don’t think it was — no one would offer that easily-disproved propaganda on behalf of Israel. It makes it appear that Israel is making all of this up.

It was clickaganda — someone just remixing a video to get some hits by linking an old shock video with the trending story of the day to make money.

Young Australian ready to go to war for her other country

Mai Gutman is waiting by the phone for a call that will put her back in uniform and back with her old army unit, as Israel gears up for the biggest military mobilisation in its history.

The 28-year-old Australian counts herself lucky to be alive and ready to serve her country.

She had been due to attend the Nova music festival in the Negev desert at the weekend at which 260 of her countryman were killed by Hamas gunmen, but cancelled at the last minute.
Read Next

Her family had decided to celebrate the holiday together in Jerusalem and she wanted to be with them. “It just goes to show what a miracle – all those people my age, they’re all my friends, young people with bright futures who went to a music festival and were gunned down for no reason other than that they were Jewish,” she said.

“That could have been me; that could have been anyone I know, my brothers, sisters, best friends. The thought is just unfathomable. We cannot comprehend it.”

Ms Gutman had been in several WhatsApp groups linked to the festival, trying to find friends she could catch a ride with to the event. “The WhatsApp groups that went off on the Saturday morning when everything was happening were horrific. People were saying, ‘Please what do we do, they’re shooting at us, my friends been shot’.

“Horrific messages and I’m sitting with my phone in my hand, in absolute disbelief. It’s absolute Armageddon. The images and the footage that were coming from this looked apocalyptic.”

Ms Gutman lives in Ra’anana, about 20 minutes north of Tel Aviv, and works as a public information officer with the Zionist Federation of Australia. She was born in Israel but came to Australia at 18 months with her Australian mother and Israeli father.

She is in the reserves of a search and rescue unit that engages in combat, and fully expects to be mobilised: her unit is stationed in the north of the country, where tensions are escalating with Hezbollah on the border with Lebanese border.

Ms Gutman said her parents were “absolutely terrified” about her being called up for military service but understood she had to answer the call of duty.

“I called my mum last night and she was just crying on the phone. Every person I know knows someone who’s been killed. Everybody’s in a constant state of terror and mourning. Our friend’s cousin was killed – he’s a father who left behind five children.”

Now, she says, Israel is facing an existential threat. “This has just become very real. It’s the most Jewish people who have died in a single day since the Holocaust.

“This is something we have to do now, and if we don’t do it, we could lose our country. We could lose our state of security, especially for those living in the diaspora, Israel is our security, our refuge. We don’t have a choice in this.”

The images of people being taken killed and taken hostage were devastating, she said.

“We’re all trying to just do what we need to do in order to save these poor citizens, innocent civilians that have been taken, kidnapped, tortured, and are sitting somewhere in the heart of the Gaza Strip in tunnels.”

From one of the “in betweeners” – keep your head down ,and come home to your family safe and in one piece.

NSW Police have form when it comes to dealing, or not dealing, with this sort of thing. There was no “breach of the peace” when the beaches of Cronulla were sullied by provocative misogynist behaviour by groups of middle eastern young men. There was no activity when convoys of thugs swarmed out of Punchbowl to attack whoever they could on the basis of their race. Do not forget the NSW Police priorities during the Lindt Cafe seige when they favoured the rights of the criminal over those of his victims. They stopped a reporter going into Lakemba on “breach of the peace” grounds. It is all very one way; institutional Islamophilia I would say.

‘Best option’: NSW cops defend actions on protest
Staff writers
STAFF WRITERS

New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Tony Cooke commended the police officers present at the pro-Palestine protest in Sydney last night, saying that managing the movement of the group was “the best option for police”.

“In the circumstances, it was considered the best option for police was to manage the movement of those people from Sydney Town Hall to the Opera House, to ensure that we were able to control the movement of the people and get them to a place where we could manage the rally in its form and to prevent the risk of conflict,” Mr Cooke said.
“We were able to manage that to ensure there was no conflict last night. We are continuing to work across all communities, and all communities can be assured that we will continue to, so that they are free to go about their business without fear.”

Sydney businessman Mark Spiro, who was dragged from the protest by police after he arrived carrying an Israeli flag was allegedly removed “for his safety” according to the Assistant Commissioner.

“I understand (Mr Spiro’s) view very clearly … but also very clearly that situation caused and could have caused significant risk to him,” Mr Cooke said.

“This is not about us condoning, supporting or facilitating any process.”

When asked whether the commissioner urged Jewish residents not to attend the Opera House as it was illuminated in the national colours of Israel, Mr Cooke claimed NSW Police “spoke very clearly with members of the Jewish community” who then “made a decision not to attend”.

At its peak, the crowd grew to an estimated size of 1000 protestors.

“The entire rally and footage was covered by CCTV footage and an operation has been established to look into the issues last night,” Mr Cooke said.

“We will attempt to identify people who committed offences and will take appropriate actions to put them before the courts where it is possible.”

However, within hours EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell announced funding would continue as “punishing all the Palestinian people” would have “damaged the EU interests in the region and would have only further emboldened terrorists”.

This is a variant on the ‘not all residents of Gaza support Hamas’ argument. OK, I accept that, and I accept that said residents have nowhere to go. Israel could address this by giving all residents 12hours to make their way to a designated safe area, probably the Southern end, then absolutely razing the rest. Once done, designate the N as safe zone, and do same to the S. Then, impose total blockade, but allow residents to leave under flag of truce whilst IDF transports them out of gaza to another location… No need for a costly ground war.

In further wankery, James Morrow writes:

Wouldn’t mind having a look at other languages and seeing what they are saying.

PS – You neglected to mention Jewish tombstones aren’t safe. Thery’re very thorough in selecting defenceless targets.

Oh yes, Jewish tombstones are regularly defaced and smashed by Nazis. That’s what Nazis do. Across Europe, Jewish cemeteries are vandalised (Malmo being an example), the Nazis in 2023 are truly the offspring of the Nazis that wreaked havoc in Europe between 1933 and 1945.

Israel was distracted — but so are we

The West’s fractured response reveals our weakness

BY Ayaan Hirsi Ali

How could Israel let this happen?

As footage of Gazan motorbikes pelting through holes in Israel’s “smart” border fence started to circulate, of paragliders descending on a desert rave, of entire families being kidnapped or butchered in their homes, that was the question on every Western analyst’s lips: how could Israel let this happen?

The more important question, however, is this: what will the West itself do now?

Launched from land, sea and air, the attack was unprecedented in both scale and barbarity. It was a display of Isis-like savagery. But it was also the culmination of a sophisticated military operation, probably months in the planning and aided by at least one foreign power. As a result, more than 800 Israelis have been slaughtered, and no doubt more will follow in the days and weeks to come. Again: how could Israel, with its vast intelligence apparatus and decades of experience, let this happen?

The obvious answer — at least the one doing the rounds of the think tanks in Europe and America — is that Israel was distracted. And when facing such determined enemies as Hamas and Iran, who are always on the lookout for the perfect moment to strike, distraction amounts to suicide.

Just look at how the West has attempted — and failed — to process the carnage in Israel. Caught in a Manichean trap that prioritises moral certainty over reality, anti-Israel activists have succeeded in distracting us further.

They distort reality by pretending Israel is simply paying the price for its aggression; that it must, as former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn put it, end its “occupation” of Gaza. (Ironically, these very same people tend to be the ones warning Israel not to launch an invasion of Gaza — is it occupied or not?)

Further distraction follows: in the form of protests outside Israeli embassies, in those contortions that enable activists to justify attacks on Jewish shops and restaurants.

As a result, many people are unable to agree on the few facts in this interminable conflict that are clear: that Hamas is driven more by its hatred of Jewish people than its love for the Palestinians; that Hamas routinely kills, tortures and persecutes Palestinians who seek peace with Israel; that, well before Hamas paraded the dead bodies of Israeli women down its streets, it used Palestinian children as human shields.

And now, there is the fact that Iran, Russia and China are looking on with glee. They see anarchy in Israel and a weeping wound in the Western alliance. The palaces of Tehran, Moscow and Beijing are all looking West, and what do they see?

Activists in Time Square calling another intifada, Jewish schoolchildren being told not to wear their uniform, national broadcasters giving airtime to Hamas apologists. Our weakness is plain for the world to see.

NSW Attorney General Michael Daley on 2GB this morning…

“what everyone needs to do is show restraint and respect”.

Yeah Mr Daley, I witnessed the restraint and respect at Town Hall last night, where I heard Nazis screaming pro-Hamas slogans, and shaking with fear I then walked to the bus stop where I cried.

Oh Mr Daley, only an hour or so later, reading the Oz, I saw the restraint and respect at the Sydney Opera House, where Nazis screeched, shouted and screamed….”f*ck the Jews”.

Then Mr Daley, I heard that Sydney Jews had been told to stay away, for fear of their safety.

So, Mr Daley, clearly my understanding and your understanding of the meaning of “restraint” and “respect” are different, very different,

Sack the NSW AG
Sack the NSW Police Minister
Sack the NSW Police Commissioner
Sack the NSW Deputy Police Commissioner

Jews aren’t safe on Sydney streets.

Hamas has threatened to start executing hostages for every civilian house bombed

sadly, at this point, the Israelis need to adopt the Russian philosophy towards hostages (ie all hostages are already dead) and get on with what needs to be done. The US could also come out and state that *all* US hostages are to be released immediately, or else, as could the EU.

Duk,
what is also needed if this situation were to pass, a massive media presence. Cameras, hundreds of them to film from every angle, via satellite streaming if possible, to show the world in real time, Hamas slaughtering their own people as they try to escape Gaza. No doubt whatsoever that, if Israel afforded Gazans the opportunity to leave safely, many would be killed by their own.

Heartbreaking story of wheelchair user unable to vote in the referendum via TheirABC here:

A woman who uses an electric wheelchair says she was left feeling like a “lesser person” when she was unable to enter a pre-polling venue to cast her vote in the Voice to Parliament referendum.
Key points:

Electric wheelchair users have been unable to access an early voting booth
The pre-polling centre was mislabelled as having “unimpeded” access
A wheelchair user says there have been poor attempts to make voting accessible

Michelle Davidson, who has multiple sclerosis, went to a Wagga Wagga pre-polling station but was unable to get through the front door despite the venue being labelled as having “unimpeded” access.

The Australian Electoral Commission’s (AEC) website described the site as having “unimpeded step-free access”, but when Ms Davidson arrived the building had a front doorstep.

When Ms Davidson and her support person approached an AEC supervisor they argued that the building was accessible.

“It was patronising,” she said.

Ms Davidson has multiple sclerosis and uses an electric wheelchair.(ABC Riverina: Shauna Foley)

“They said ‘well it is accessible, it’s just one step’ — not understanding that for me [in a powered chair] one step is the basis for inaccessiblity.”

OK, the AEC made a boo boo. But, one step does not mean it is unable to be accessed. All that was required was for a couple of people to lift her chair over the threshhold. And, I would bet everything I have that if she had asked, that would have happened.

The real clue is in the accompanying photo. In their constant and impassioned pursuit of victimhood as the highest state of humanity, TheirABC found a wheelie wearing a Yes T shirt.

What a coincidence. Completely neutral. Would have done the same if it was a No T shirt. Blah, blah, blah.

TheirABC’s ‘experts’ are already drafting their explanations for the failure of the referendum (which they predicted would be won.) And, they are getting handsomely paid for both.

Thanks, taxpayers.

Well, the USS Bunker Hill pounding Hezbollah in southern Lebanon wasn’t on my tarot cards, not during this Presidency.

Don’t blame your cards, Bunker Hill was decommissioned in San Diego 2 weeks ago.

The USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group arrives in the area tomorrow as well as a Marine Amphibious Ready Group based on the USS Bataan.

Doubt there will be any US ‘boots on the ground’, but there is plenty of ammo in those ships to be transferred if needed.

Harvard is a national disgrace

The university is incubating demonic ideologues

BY Jacob Howland

Those were the days. Progressive liberals have now given birth to a generation of demonic ideologues who excuse sheer evil.

Reading the “Joint Statement by Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups on the Situation in Palestine”, I can only hope that many Harvard faculty are appalled at the little monsters they’ve helped to create.

The statement, signed by 31 student organisations from Harvard College, the Divinity School, the Law School, the Medical School, and the Kennedy School of Government (including, incredibly, a group called “Harvard Jews for Liberation”), “hold[s] the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence”.

That would include, as Victor Davis Hanson has written, “pulling Jewish elderly, women, and children out of their homes and executing them, and then throwing their bodies into the street” — atrocities last seen during the Holocaust.

The statement makes no mention of Hamas, the Iranian-funded Islamist terror group that is explicitly dedicated to the obliteration of Israel through Jihad.

The Hamas Covenant includes the following language, from the hadith (sayings attributed to Mohammed): “The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: ‘O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.’”

Instead, the Harvard students characterise the Palestinians as hapless victims of “colonial retaliation”, academic cant as tiresome as it is crude.

“In the coming days,” their statement asserts, “Palestinians will be forced to bear the full brunt of Israel’s violence.… Today, the Palestinian ordeal enters into uncharted territory.”

But the ordeal that the citizens of Israel are suffering is very well-charted. It is an ordeal perfected by the Nazis: violent cruelty that is meant simply to humiliate and defile, including what the Holocaust survivor Terrence des Pres called “excremental assault”.

No one can watch this video of an Israeli woman, bruised and bloodied, her wrists tied with wire, her sweatpants soiled with feces (to beat the shit out of someone is a real thing), pulled out of the back of a Jeep by her hair, and not understand this fact.

Have the Harvard students seen this video of men chanting “Allah hu Akbar!” while sitting on the naked corpse of Shani Louk? She was a tattoo artist and conscientious objector to Israel military service who was murdered and robbed at a music festival for peace.

She could have been among their best friends.

Jacob Howland is Provost and Director of the Intellectual Foundations Program at UATX, commonly known as the University of Austin. His latest book is Glaucon’s Fate: History, Myth, and Character in Plato’s Republic (Paul Dry Books, 2018).

I’m afraid recent evil events, no matter what the response, are only going to give us more refugees pounding on the door; more surveillance state intrusion on the ordinary citizen; more institutionalised marxism; more emboldened Russian, Chinese and Islamic extremist sponsored encroachments across the globe; and a general acceleration of our overall decline.
We’re well past the point where society learns from its errors and course corrects. It’s more of the same, worserer and harder.
