Not that I’ve seen. The relationship between Russia and Israel used to be relatively strong but has fallen away in the past 18 months notwithstanding that a stated part of the reason for the conflict in Ukraine was to rid it of Nazis. Ergo, if the destruction of Nazi ideology is a partial motivator (even a small one), then the next obvious step is to deplore any actions that are anti-Jewish. But, Israel has supported Ukraine so the relationship has cooled.
Putin did say that the Hamas attack showed US policy in the ME wasn’t working but that is an entirely different issue.
Very poor form IMO. Events of the past few days deserve global condemnation but geo-politics always comes into play. Same can be said of China’s response.
Wonder if that phuckwit Blinken has asked Hamas to use restraint? Saying he has Israel’s back then saying this shit doesn’t gel.
Take note, Peter West.
Dunno Ender. I’m just focused on the popular vote. Make them up for me if you like 🙂
Indeed; China & Russia are both seeking to use Palestine as a wedge against Western nations to further their own agendas.

Just in from the Oz…
The Indigenous voice to parliament is set to fail , and may even fall short of securing a majority in any state, despite a late swing toward a Yes vote in the final days of the campaign as both sides launch their final offensives ahead of the nation’s historic referendum.
As campaign officials from the Yes and No camps warn that a potential low voter turnout could produce a closer result, an exclusive Newspoll conducted for The Weekend Australian shows a three-point swing toward a Yes vote over the past week to 37 per cent. This is the highest level of support for an alteration to the Constitution recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders through an enshrined voice to parliament since the start of the official campaign in early September.
The lift in support is significant and will offer some optimism for the Yes23 campaign, but the improvement in the polls would not be near enough to overcome the current level of opposition.
With 57 per cent of surveyed voters saying they intended to vote No as of Friday, a point down on the previous poll published on Monday, the referendum would be lost if the poll results were reflected at the ballot box on Saturday. Only 6 per cent of voters said they remained undecided. If this number broke proportionally for both sides of the debate on the day, which cannot be predicted, the final result would be 60-40 against the voice.
The strongest level of support for the voice, according to the poll, remains in Victoria, the only state that could produce a majority Yes vote, followed by NSW and Tasmania.
However, the Newspoll found there was not a single state where the Yes vote was ahead of the No vote. This would mean that the referendum would fail the dual test of securing a national majority and a majority of the six states.”

Israel has trodden carefully with Russia because of Hezbollah on its northern border. Russia has considerable sway over the Awalite Assads in Syria and over the Shia Hezbollah.

Russia should get out of the way.
To keep them safe from Israel’s bombs move them to hospitals in Sderot to greet rockets from Hamas.

Not side, but the Israelis aren’t stupid, Assad is better than having ISIS on its border.

I understood the Israeli position on the Ukraine war was neutral and carefully so.
Yes, they have been walking on egg-shells and have been in an invidious position.
It is effectively ‘compelled’ to side with the West (lest it irritate the USA and others) and show nominal support for Ukraine’s Jewish President. However, they don’t want to irritate Russia because of Syria. Plus, Ukraine and Russia both have significant Jewish communities.
Israel has been a conduit for some US weapons to Ukraine, which the Russians didn’t take kindly to, and also has been under pressure to supply its own weapons.
On balance, Israel has done a reasonable job of being notionally neutral and Russia has also tried to accept their position but Israel has been critical of Russia and is sending non-lethal aid to Ukraine. Ukraine has been stirring the pot by trying to get the Iron Dome system, which Israel doesn’t want to give, and most recently Zelensky wants to visit Israel as a gesture of solidarity over this terror event (pure BS – that isn’t why he wants to go). To say the obvious, these aspects need to be carefully managed.
For those manning the booths.
I wouldn’t get too disheartened.

An Oceania Cruise on the ship named Marina, Top Ender. Going down the Adriatic, the West Greek coast, stops somewhere, then around to Santorini then over to Sicily and Rome.
Stops in the Adriatic are Split, Montenegro (today), then Corfu.
Oceania is noted for its food and I can’t fault that. We have a fare that includes three of the specialised restaurants for the Adriatic section, and the standard is high as it is also in the main dining room. Service is also very good.
Dress code has no formal nights, unlike Cunard. It is something called Country Club, either casual or elegant, depending on event. It is geared to the Americans on board I think, for mostly that is where the guests come from. Some Australians, occasional Britishers and Japanese. No ‘athletic shoes’ in the dining room at night, so that must exclude my good pair of white sneakers, not my walking ones. I will have to wear the two other pairs of shoes I have more than I want to do. So in Split I bought a basic pair of sandals.
I am doing my best to make my wardrobe comply. Cocktail Party last nite was a bit of a challenge, but I managed with something drifty and added jewellery. Elegant Casual, I hope. Wedge heels.
Cassie, glad to see you eyeing off shoes when shopping, always up-cheering. 🙂

Solar Drift (Single) by Reinhardt Buhr Live Looping
Internet is very flakey on board during peak times, and we are on tours otherwise.
Yesterday was horrific, because I wasn’t expecting to hit any great mountain heights again, but there we were, on a bus being taken up to the very top of the towering mount that is one of a range below which Montenegro sits. It was around 5500 ft up from the sea level, and every bit of it was traversed in a huge modern bus over a goat track built centuries ago and then tarmaced over. It was to be regarded as an ‘adventure’ we were told, all twenty-five hairpin bends of it. The guide thoughtfully counted them up for us. The bridges were medieval and I thought the whole lot likely to collapse at any time. The perpendicular ravines all of the way down were just under my window, as was the occasional small car coming down, with literally two inches to spare on each side if they pulled in their driving mirrors, and that only on ‘passing’ places. It was a great relief when we were told that we would be joining a ‘regular’ road for our return, as this one couldn’t take a bus down it. It coudn’t take a bus up it either in my view, and that of other wobble-knee’d ladies who share feelings at the top with me when we got out. The view – well, stupendous. When I got my breath back.
We moved over to the ‘new’ road then which was a normal road, which descended slowly in an area of plateaus and passes where we visited an original city of the Black Mount (Montenegro), named after either the shadows there or the Phoenecian adventurers of the BC period (take your pick). Now a small small town in the hill folds, once the Provincial capital, it was a pretty small centre with a monastery that was destroyed by the Ottermans but later ruled by C19th King Nicola and his wife and their children. We were taken in to their home-like palace, full of memorabilia, as it is now a museum. These Royal people constituted part of the quickly defunct but nevertheless ancient monarchical Houses of Europe who fell after World Wars 1 or 2, all of whom had some ancestry back to Queen Vic of Britain. Their Kings are still memorialised in a history forgotten except in these minor remnants of their glory. Who has ever heard of King Daniel, and others even more obscure, outside Montenegro? As in Spit, they had fought off the Ottomans well though and are revered for that.
Awesome post! It’s truly commendable to hear about the IDF’s 150% report rate among their reservists. It just goes to show the exceptional dedication and commitment of these individuals, even after their service obligations are complete. It’s inspiring to see them willingly come back with whatever kit they still have to ensure the safety and security of their country. Thank you for sharing this incredible information! Keep up the great work! ???
