let’s compare the 9 and 8 oxidation states of [vanadium] whereas virgin Lithium has ONE!

Not that simple Dot. Lithium is much lighter so one electron from lithium is the same as 7.3 electrons from vanadium oxidation states. Also vanadium chemistry is very messy and prone to side reactions. Flow batteries are OK though, since you have two big tanks of electrolyte and a compact cell. Too low energy density for anything movable though.

Lithium is still the one. Maybe aluminium could be made to work, although even there lithium is still ahead on weight per available electron.

It’s been a crushing week for the EV industry as the bad news that has been brewing for months was laid bare in the quarterly reports. Across the industry, corporate CEO’s are all admitting that demand is unexpectedly slow, orders are down, and suddenly projects are being delayed “indefinitely”.

The head of Mercedes-Benz described the market as “a pretty brutal space”. Harald Wilhelm hinted that some manufacturers won’t survive: “I can hardly imagine the current status quo is fully sustainable for everybody,” he said.

Google Translate: Get some EU support in place unmittelbar, before it is too late. And, by the way, don’t even dream of going squish with the 2035 total ICE ban.

So when a Bibi led government allows aid in Gaza it’s “propping up Hamas” for which Bibi needs to pay the price (PS he wasn’t the only Israeli govt or PM allowing aid into Gaza).
But when Bibi stops it – only for a short period of time – he is worse than Hitler.

Boudica review – dreary take on Norfolk’s killer queen is as gritty as a sponge

This take on the first-century Iceni heroine looks like a home movie, and Olga Kurylenko’s lack of majesty in the lead role doesn’t help

Leslie Felperin

Boudica, the Iceni queen who led an insurrection against the Roman colonisers in first-century Britain, is one of the great feminist icons from ancient history, but there are surprisingly few cinematic representations of her.

There was a British TV show from 1978 called Warrior Queen that had the great Siân Phillips daubed in woad, a just-OK film from 2003 also called Warrior Queen that starred Alex Kingston, and a smattering of others in various languages, mostly for TV.
And, of course, there’s the utterly iconic segment in Horrible Histories where Queen B (Martha Howe-Douglas) sings a grungy ditty about how her bloody campaign. (“Bow man, yeoman, smash the Roman foe man / All say ‘Yah / It’s Boudic-a!’”). But all that still leaves room for a great feature film about the toughest, most heroic gal to come out of Norfolk, up there with Edith Cavell and Delia Smith.

Sadly, the vacancy remains after this dreary take on the killer queen, here played by Ukrainian-French actor Olga Kurylenko. Now, some may doubt this, but I have seen passable performances from Kurylenko – for instance, as a concert pianist in The Death of Stalin. That said, in general she’s better when speaking French or just standing around looking decorative. This, unfortunately, is one of her worst turns, in a role where everything hinges on the actor playing the lead being able to project majesty and grit.

Kurylenko is about as gritty as a used sponge, and has a thin, feeble voice that’s especially unconvincing in scenes where she’s meant to rally troops with impassioned rhetoric. About halfway through, there is a scene where her character is brought terrible news of a loved one’s death. As Kurylenko goes into despairing yowls, the film turns down the audio and cranks up tragic-sounding music, usually a strong sign that even the film-makers could tell this performance was going to convince no one, so best just smother it in a surge of treacly strings.

Writer-director Jesse V Johnson has scant talent for dialogue either; Horrible Histories had more gravitas. What Johnson is good at – and so he should be, given his earlier career as a stunt performer and coordinator – is choreographing fights and fisticuffs. Although the film often looks like a home movie shot with half a dozen live action role play devotees messing around in a forest, the thwacking of swords and plunging of knives is a bit of a hoot. At one point, someone gets their head cut off and the dismembered visage keeps on blinking and gasping with incredulity at this indignity – a sensation viewers of this film will undoubtedly relate to.

Mohamed Elrafihi is the CEO of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, the peak council representing multicultural communities. Read this and weep from the Hun. FMD

As the son of a Lebanese Muslim father and a mother who was Syrian Orthodox Christian, I was born into a world where diversity wasn’t just a concept but our way of life.

Their story unfolded amidst the turbulent backdrop of Lebanon’s civil war. Love won out and they eloped. But the decision came at a cost — my mother’s family severed ties with her for marrying a Muslim.

Over time, they reconciled, and eventually, my parents journeyed to Australia with its promise of safety and security. Soon after they settled in Melbourne, my Christian grandmother followed.

In her new home, she set about giving new life to our blended family’s traditions. We celebrated Eid and Christmas, and she dyed eggs red at Easter for all my Muslim cousins.

Years on, those times with my grandmother have stayed with me – not just because she spoiled me as her favourite – but because I saw her love transcend religious boundaries.

Because of her, I was lucky to grow up in a multi-faith household where compassion and connection overcame any divides.

At the same time, my upbringing was deeply rooted in the Islamic faith. My early years were spent at an Islamic school, surrounded by people from my community.

It was an environment where anti-Semitic sentiments were not uncommon, and conversations about Israel and Judaism were often accompanied by prejudice. It meant I was exposed to a narrative that limited my understanding and worldview.

It was at uni that I embarked on a path of self-education. I had the privilege of forming friendships with Jewish and Palestinian students. And what was once taboo became a source of fascination, as I sought to understand Israelis and Judaism beyond stereotypes.

This culminated in a visit to both Israel and Palestine in 2016, a journey that changed my perspective forever. For the first time, I stood on the hallowed ground of the Holy Land, a profound place for Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike. As I walked through the ancient streets of Jerusalem, I felt the weight of history and faith pressing upon me.

Visiting this holy city – so precious to so many – awakened new empathy. It enabled me to see the people around me for who they were, and not what I’d heard. It was a life-changing experience, one that led me to return twice since, most recently this year.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict had always been a presence in my life, rearing its head periodically, and drawing me into its complexities. Like previous eruptions of violence, the current outbreak carries with it a sense of urgency and sorrow – but also the need for a nuanced perspective.

We must unequivocally condemn Hamas for its October 7 attack on innocent Israeli civilians and the taking of hostages. I support Israel and the right to defend herself against aggression. But it should not come at the cost of innocent Palestinian lives.

Just as we condemn Hamas, we must also condemn the Netanyahu Government for its attacks on innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the Westbank. And just as we recognise Hamas does not speak for the entire Palestinian community, Netanyahu does not speak for the entire Israeli community.

In response to the current war, the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people for an independent state should not be forgotten. It’s a struggle that has persisted for generations, and it’s crucial the international community acknowledges this. More than 2 million people are currently trapped in Gaza or displaced, and the situation there teeters on the edge of devastation.

As I watch the conflict unfold, I can’t also help but worry about the real risk of Lebanon and Syria becoming embroiled, fuelled by the actions of Hamas and potentially Hezbollah. Both countries hold a special place in my heart, home to family on both my father and mother’s side – Muslims and Christians. Their safety is a constant concern.

During times like these, we must remember our privilege of living in the “lucky country.” Australia, while not perfect, remains a democracy where diverse voices can be heard. It’s a place where we can advocate for peace, understanding and compassion, and strive to be a bridge between communities in conflict.

Our political leaders bear a solemn responsibility of acknowledging the tragic loss of innocent Israelis and Palestinians. Because every life is sacred, every individual has a family, and every child is a parent’s pride and joy.

The profound pain of the Jewish and Muslim communities is also shared. And like many in both communities, I hope for an end to the bloodshed and a better future for the region.

As I reflect on my journey towards understanding – and the lessons imparted early by my grandmother – I believe empathy, education and open dialogue must pave our way towards peace.

Nuance! Empathy! Love! Education! It will conquer all in this shitshow according to the author of this article.
Australia is a place where diverse voices have a say. Tell that to the bloke escorted away because he had the temerity to fly an Israeli flag. And the Jews to stay away from the Opera House as it was lit up in those colours.
The pain is shared. Yeah I agree that the loss of life is shit. But this is all on Hamas. Elrafihi should know Hamas use civilians as shields, schools and hospitals as a tool of war.

Is Google deliberately censoring Israel and supporting Hamas?

Further to the Video above of the Hamas savages beheading an wounded Thai civilian with a Garden Hoe whilst he is still alive – Not a Jew, Not an Israeli Citizen, just like any number of Thai People around the World, working overseas to earn money to send back to his Family in Thailand

His crime? Being alive in Israel.

This is the true face of Hamas??

As I said on Michael’s Post on Labor Tony Burke supports the terrorists and their flag.

I suggest you put your Mobile Phone to the QR Code referenced below and see the Horrors & Barbarity of Gazan Palestinian Hamas the images on the QR Code of the 1 page on UN Ireland Desk are absolutely Horrendous – https://www.timesofisrael.com/erdan-shows-attempted-beheading-in-uphill-bid-to-block-unga-resolution-ignoring-hamas/

– The Dumpster Bin full of Charred Bodies – God only knows what happened to the Women with the Gag in her mouth, looks like she was burnt alive – the body burnt to a crisp with their hands tied together -the charred, totally blackened skull with white teeth standing out – bodies side by side burnt to a crisp – the 4 min video of brave Hamas Palestinian Barbarians shooting unarmed young people enjoying themselves

Charred bodies everywhere, beheaded soldiers, charred babies

How could any Australian especially The Australian Labor Party, Greens, some TEALS etc, support the Palestinian Gazan’s who rejoice at Hamas, having seen those images & video?

As lotocoti said a couple of weeks ago, if you want to dance with a bear, you don’t decide when it’s over.

Black Ball,

Elrafihi should read

Not so innocent civilians

Would Guterres ever assert that the death of Gaza civilians past and future also does not “happen in a vacuum”? Hardly.

But just who are these “innocent civilians” of Gaza?

These are the same people who elected Hamas in 2006, knowing that Hamas’ charter called for the extermination of all Jews. That charter preceded Hamas’ election by almost two decades.

These “civilians” knew for whom they voted and why they voted for them.

There are the same “civilians” whose homes conceal entrances to Hamas’ tunnels, whose hospitals shield Hamas’ leaders, whose clinics and schools are used as launching pads for Hamas’ rockets.

These are the “civilians” who rushed across the border fence on October 7 to maraud, rape and murder.

These are the “civilians” who are used as human shields. My sympathy for them is lacking.

Certainly, infants are innocent, but all children pay the price for the folly of adults.

More troubling are the adults – civilians all – who birthed and raised monsters, such as one evildoer who called his father from Kibbutz Mefalsim to boast in real time of his mass murder: “Father, look how many Jews I killed with my own hands! Your son, I killed ten Jews with my own hands!’ To which the proud father responded: “God is great. May God protect you.”

Consider this for a moment.

Is there one reader among you who would be “proud” of a child who boasted of mass murder?

If I while driving accidentally struck a pedestrian who fell to the ground and tore his pants, I would have been too embarrassed to tell my father.

And here, this savage not only murders, beheads, tortures, and dismembers, but he also has the presence of mind to call his father, knowing that his father would admire his cowardly and dastardly deeds.

Those are not “innocent civilians”; those are people steeped in a sick culture of hatred that is inconceivable to normal human beings.

Those are people who willingly aid and abet mass murder and then cry about the consequences when they and their homes are bombed.

Gaza’s imams this week issued a fatwa calling it a crime against Islam for any Gazan to travel south to avoid Israel’s offensive.

They are not “civilians” but passive combatants, tools in Hamas’ arsenal.

They deserve no protections – certainly not international law – and humanity will be better off without them.

The recourse to international law to protect these murderers and their accomplices is farcical.

For decades now, the West has struggled with a response to radical Islam and the proper method for conducting asymmetrical warfare.

Consequently, radical Islam, as typified by Iran, has grown stronger, and even stronger due to the appeasement of the Americans and the West.

But the primary fallacy has been the West’s choice to indulge the grisly notion that Israel has to be bound by the rules of war while their enemy does not, that somehow proxies of Iran are excused from the norms of war that bind all others.

The grossest ongoing violation of international law is the holding of Jewish hostages, which somehow the “world” condones as, well, just the way it is.

We are expected to provide water, electricity, food, medicine, and other needs to our enemy to demonstrate our commitment to international law, notwithstanding that the enemy can flout international law with impunity.

That, too, is senseless and immoral, and we should not tolerate that.

We should be unafraid to tell the world – including Biden, Blinken, Macron and whoever else visits Israel – that if Hamas still has enough fuel to launch rockets, then they have enough fuel, period.

Let the hospitals procure their fuel from the leaders they elected. Let the million and a half “innocent civilians” revolt against their cruel leaders if indeed they are so innocent and so troubled by the conditions in Gaza.

We should have no interest in making more Arab fathers proud of their sons’ talent for murdering Jews.

Only Israel has every military action assessed and approved by its lawyers.

That is no way to run a war and no way to win a war, which has resulted in decades of Israel not winning any wars and even thinking that wars are not winnable.

That is a defeatist strategy that has brought disaster upon us.

The United States and allies have fought wars in the last century that have killed millions of enemy civilians, with reassessments coming only after the wars’ successful conclusions.

That is a good template for us as well.

AR – I haven’t looked up silver batteries. That is a two electron transfer reaction Ag2+ to Ag metal, and silver is heavy and expensive. Lithium is about half the price of silver but you get 8 times as many electrons. So on a dollar per electron basis silver is 16 times more expensive than lithium.

Solar panels use a lot of silver too, so adding in a new industry would force the price higher again.

21st century feminists aren’t interested in anything as quaint as women’s rights.

That’s because 21st century feminists are members of the leftist tribe to which they have surrendered unconditionally.

The number one rule of the leftist tribe is that there is no dissent against tribal rules — and tribe loves the genocidal terrorists of Hamas because it hates the West.

If you hate the West, the tribe tells you to love Hamas — and no dissent is allowed.

That’s why 21st century feminists aren’t allowing themselves to be feminists with principles. That would mean expulsion from the tribe — a fate worse than death for the zombies of the 21st century left.

Putin criticises Russian law enforcement after antisemitic Dagestan chaos, warning police chiefs they need to take ‘firm, timely and clear actions’ as White House said carnage was ‘Like a pogrom’

Hundreds of thugs descended on to the runway of Makhachlaka airport in Russia

Vladimir Putin has called on Russian law enforcement to take ‘firm’ actions after antisemitic rioters stormed an airport in Dagestan yesterday.

Screaming parents and their crying children were forced to run the gauntlet through an angry anti-Semitic mob that had stormed Makhachlaka airport last night to hunt down Jews after their flight from Israel landed in a Muslim-majority region.

The Russian President today responded to the chaotic scenes, saying: ‘I want to draw the attention of heads of all regions, heads of law enforcement agencies and special services to the need for firm, timely and clear actions to protect Russia’s constitutional order, the rights and freedoms of our citizens, inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony.’

Australia Warns Ferries about EVs (29 Oct)

Australia’s Maritime Safety Authority has issued a domestic commercial vessel safety alert on the risks of ferrying battery powered cars (EVs), download it here. Each ferry operator must conduct a risk assessment for their vessel to ensure that they are capable of dealing with potential EV fires. They list the risks of carrying EVs as follows:

– High voltage shocks
– Direct jet flames
– Fires develop in intensity quickly and rapidly reach their maximum intensity (typically within 2-3 minutes)
– Toxic gases
– Gas explosion (if the released gas accumulates for a while before being ignited)
– Long lasting re-ignition risk (can ignite or re-ignite weeks, or maybe months after the provoking incident)
– Once established fires are difficult to stop/extinguish
– Thermal runaway

They go on to add that EVs are approximately 25% heavier than vehicles with internal combustion engines. This should be considered when placing the vehicles on the ferry or ship to minimize the potential impact on vessel stability.

Be fun if a journo asks Bowen about this problem. The squirming would be epic.

Israel’s war against Hamas is a battle for civilization

Hamas terrorists have continued to use Gaza as a terror camp despite billions of dollars in aid for its residents

The most barbaric and widescale terror attack in decades took place on October 7, when Hamas Nazis invaded southern Israel and embarked on a killing spree, massacring 1,400 Israelis and taking over 220 hostages.

I will never forget the unfathomable images of death and destruction.

Hamas is a jihadi terror group and the atrocities they committed were exactly like those of ISIS and al Qaeda. It deliberately targets civilians and children. It is savage.

And these terrorists are solely responsible for the situation in Gaza.

In 2005, Israel unilaterally withdrew from the Gaza Strip, removing all Israeli civilians and soldiers from the territory. Instead of becoming a peaceful entity alongside Israel, Gaza became a terror machine.

Hamas is internationally recognized as a terror organization by Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and many other countries.

In 2007, after it was voted into power by the people of Gaza, Hamas brutally took over, throwing Palestinian Authority representatives off buildings and beginning its reign of terror.

In the 16 years since, Hamas has ruled the Gaza Strip with an iron fist, seeking to impose sharia law on the population.

Hamas is sworn to the destruction of the state of Israel and the murder of Jews.

Its charter, written in 1988, explicitly states so.

These terrorists do not want dialogue! They want dead Jews, and they have been saying so for 35 years.

Nonetheless, the international community attempted to moderate Hamas’ behavior by offering economic incentives.

Billions of dollars in donations, supplies, and building materials from Europe, Qatar, the United Nations, and other donors have come pouring into the Gaza Strip.

Nonetheless, the international community attempted to moderate Hamas’ behavior by offering economic incentives. Billions of dollars in donations, supplies, and building materials from Europe, Qatar, the United Nations, and other donors have come pouring into the Gaza Strip.

While Israel seeks to mitigate civilian casualties in its military operations, Hamas seeks to increase civilian casualties – of both Israelis and Palestinians. How else can one rationally explain indiscriminately firing rockets at a civilian population from locations embedded within a civilian population?

The people of Gaza, after voting for Hamas, live within a terror war machine and sadly, we must recognize that they continue to support Hamas and its atrocities.

And Iran, the No. 1 global state sponsor of terror which funds much of Hamas’ terror budget, provides a lifeline of support.

The immoral and false comparisons between Israel, a law-abiding democracy, and Hamas, an internationally designated terror group, that we are seeing at the UN and in the media now is exactly what the terrorists want.

There is no clearer example of this deranged reality than the tragedy of the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital. The proof is indisputable: the hospital was struck by a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket.

However, Hamas blatantly lied, leading many in the media and the UN to immediately blame Israel without verifying the facts.

Massacring Israelis is one part of Hamas’ heinous strategy.

The second part is to exploit public opinion and international bodies to pressure Israel into limiting its ability to defend itself.

And they are playing right into Hamas’ script.

Twiggy doing a bit of self-decapitation.

More climate violence rhetoric: When it was “time to put heads on spikes” (29 Oct)

Forrest described calls for everyone to do their bit to tackle climate change as flagrant greenwashing, arguing that there are about 1000 people in the world culpable for climate change and capable of fixing it.

He asked that when it was time to “put heads on spikes, start with mine, but please don’t forget the other 999”.

Your neck is quite safe son, nothing much is happening climatewise except for the usual natural variations.

Kurt Schlicter

Remember the Pax Romana?

Do you think that peace just sort of occurred because everybody shared their feelings openly and without restraint? Do you know how the Romans did sieges? Let’s talk about Caesar at Alesia. The Gauls had gotten uppity and killed a lot of Romans, so Caesar decided to pacify them. The barbarian leader Vercingetorix took refuge in the hilltop town, and Caesar immediately surrounded it. He had his legionnaires build a giant wall around it to lock the Gauls inside.

The Gauls called their friends for help, so Caesar built another wall around his besieging forces to keep the relief column at bay. He starved out Alesia, eventually forcing the Gauls to attack and defeating them handily.

Then he took Vercingetorix back to Rome, made him march in chains in triumph, and then had his defeated enemy strangled.

This was an important learning point for the barbarians. Don’t screw with civilized people, or everybody dies.

This is how you get a Pax Romana. There’s no other way.

The hard truth is that the world contains bad people who must be crushed through ruthless violence, which shocks and horrifies modern sensibilities. But it is reality nonetheless. When people want to kill you, you are at a decision point. You can either let them kill you or stop them. But stopping them often involves aesthetically displeasing actions, such as blowing them into little bits with bombs or shoving a bayonet into their guts and watching them die in agony. And it necessarily means inflicting death and damage on the noncombatant camp followers around them. That’s why they say war is hell. And that’s why starting one is probably not a good idea. But when someone else starts one, you have to choose them or you. Someone’s going to die badly, and you know, I propose it is those other guys.

The West didn’t start this fight, but it damn well better finish it, or they will finish us. Time to stop being soft. It’s time to stop lying to ourselves. It’s time to stop pretending that human nature took a 180° change a few decades ago and that we are not the same animals we used to be because now we have cars, airplanes, and Instagram.

We are the same brutal, cruel, and warlike creatures we have always been. Every headline, every act of hideous violence, and every pro-genocide cheer by the grad school sociopaths who fetishize Third-World savages, proves it. What we have to do is lift the scales from our eyes, understand the situation we are in, and accept it.

For the last couple of generations, we in the West have told ourselves that we have changed. We told ourselves that we are beyond violence. And we told ourselves that everyone else was too.

But that was a lie.

We need to stop lying to ourselves. A society that suspends both kids when one of them slugs a bully is signing its own suicide note.

This seems to be the play of the left. Take away the focus from Hamas and what they did/are doing. Make the discussion all about evil mastermind, Bibi. Get rid of him.

A gigantic solar farm is currently being constructed 55km from Mudgee (in our “neck of the woods”) which will contain 660,000 panels.

The company that operates this construction is “Solar Megawatt Holding”. However, we have just received a newsletter in respect to current construction progress from “Beijing Jingneng Clean Energy” with the postal address of York St Sydney !!!

No guess where the solar panels come from & who will be making zillions from the construction side of the project.

Last year we were contacted concerning a rental property we own in Mudgee. We were offered double the rent we now get to relet to their construction workers. Not a chance in the world.

The Australian Spectator, 30 October, “Will Israel’s military strategy work against Hamas?” , Sean Rayment:

Israeli soldiers are the masters of street fighting. It is unlikely that there has not been a single month in the 75-year history of the Israeli state in which members of its security forces have not been involved in some form of urban warfare.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) have fought on the streets of Gaza and the West Bank during the first and second intifadas, as well as in towns and villages in southern Lebanon. They have developed tactics, now adopted by armies the world over, for moving through occupied urban areas by blasting holes through buildings. And through endless urban battles – known as FIBUA, fighting in a built-up area – the IDF have become experts in maximising enemy casualties while minimising their own.

The fighting is likely to be ferocious as Israeli infantry root out Hamas gunmen from the smouldering remains of Gaza city
This weekend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation against Hamas had now entered its ‘second stage’, adding that ‘the war in the Strip will be long and difficult and we are prepared for it.’ The early signs suggest that the IDF is taking Gaza piece by piece – a military concept known as clear and hold. Huge numbers of troops will be required and the fighting is likely to be ferocious and possibly hand-to-hand, as Israeli infantry root out Hamas gunmen from the smouldering remains of Gaza city.

Following the Hamas atrocities of October 7th, thousands of IDF personnel have been testing their tactics relentlessly in the street fighting training base known as Little Gaza at the Tze’elim training centre in the southern Negev desert. The £40 million base is designed to simulate a modern desert city, with more than 600 individual structures, including eight story high buildings, complexes, shacks, schools, stores and markets.

Israeli troops – many of them reservists who just a little more than three weeks ago were sitting behind desks in office blocks in Tel Aviv or tending their avocado farms –will have been trained in how to quickly identify ambush points, sniper locations and where home-made bombs are likely to be placed. Soldiers will also have received hours of refresher training in how to deal with a traumatic amputation, stop an arterial bleed and when and when not to administer morphine to a seriously wounded fellow soldier screaming in agony.

That knowledge, collated over decades, will now be invaluable as their troops begin to move through the bomb-cratered streets of Gaza in the hunt for Hamas terrorists and the search for the estimated 200 hostages snatched from southern Israel three weeks ago.

Israeli Intelligence planners will have pored over hours of satellite imagery and video footage from drones pinpointing likely Hamas strongholds and headquarters. Mossad spies placed inside the Gaza Strip will have been sending back covert messages on the terrorists’ battle preparations, dispositions and weaponry.

Additionally, Hamas fighters, like everyone else in Gaza, have been subjected to almost three weeks of relentless bombing, along with chronic food, water and electricity shortages designed to degrade the terrorists’ will to fight.

So it would be easy to assume that what resistance there might be inside Gaza would be weak and short-lived. But plans in war often do not go to plan. The 19th century military strategist Carl Von Clausewitz is often quoted as saying no plan survives contact with the enemy and history has proven time and again that he was correct.

Back in 2006 when British troops arrived in southern Afghanistan, Brigadier Ed Butler, a highly experienced SAS officer, once said that the ‘enemy always gets a vote’. What Butler, who was in charge of British forces in Helmand, meant was that the outcome of any combat plan, no matter how brilliant, is always dependent on how the enemy responds. And in the forthcoming battle for control of the Gaza Strip, all the indicators suggest that Hamas’s response will be to fight.

History has repeatedly shown that war is the most difficult and complex of all human endeavours and the most complex battles are those fought in the urban theatre. Military commanders avoid large-scale battles in cities at all costs. Look what happened to the Germans at Stalingrad – arguably the single most important battle of the entire second world war. Had Hitler ordered his generals to avoid the Russian city the entire outcome of the war may have been very different. In the battle for Berlin, which lasted a little more than two weeks, almost 200,000 Russians and German soldiers died fighting for every room in every house in every street. The very nature of urban warfare plays into the hands of the defender rather than the attacker. Trying to locate a sniper, for example, with the sound of rifle fire echoing off buildings is often impossible, as British soldiers patrolling the bleak streets of Belfast and Londonderry often found during The Troubles.

Throw into this bloody mix the unimaginable horror that is tunnel fighting and it is easy to see how Hamas’s vote might derail even the best laid Israeli battle plan. Tragically, Israel may have to endure many more months of loss and trauma before Benjamin Netanyahu can declare ‘mission accomplished’. And then what? How is victory defined – when every Hamas fighter is killed or captured? When all of the hostages have been released? Crucially the question also facing Israel is what happens if Plan A fails.

It’s been a crushing week for the EV industry as the bad news that has been brewing for months was laid bare in the quarterly reports. Across the industry, corporate CEO’s are all admitting that demand is unexpectedly slow, orders are down, and suddenly projects are being delayed “indefinitely”.

I heard a car “expert” spruiking EVs on radio the other day. Asked about range problems he dismissed it as a non issue.
“93.1% of all charging is done at home. No-one should worry about range.”
Err, dickhead.
That is 93.1% of the 10% who own EVs. A good proportion of the remaining 90% aren’t touching them because … range (and price).
And, of the 10% who own EVs, a good proportion of them use it as a city runabout and have an ICE vehicle as well.
Why? For long trips.

Are white cars a better buy? The definitive answer

Your wallet will thank you for buying a white car – even if it means looking like you live your life one spreadsheet at a time.

Are white cars cooler?

Yes. In 2010 in a tightly controlled experiment, scientists at the Berkeley Lab Environmental Energy Technologies Division, California, USA, parked two identical Honda Civics in the sun, one black and one silver.

After an hour, the silver car’s cabin temperature was a full 5–6 degrees (Celsius) lower than the black car.

A white car could perform comparably to silver or even better.

Do white cars use less fuel?

Yes. In the above experiment, researchers found the silver Honda required less air conditioning than the identical black Honda in identical circumstances. Both cars were left in the sun for a full hour before experimenters cranked the air conditioning on maximum cold for half an hour. The investigation concluded that cooling a black vehicle would use two per cent more fuel than a silver one. A white car, again, could perform similarly or even better.

In winter, an internal combustion vehicle is heated using waste energy otherwise dissipated into the atmosphere by the engine.

This is just our own speculation, but it’s possible a black electric car would require less energy for heating than a white electric car in winter, although you’d have to repeat the above experiment.

Tens of thousands of people have been putting everything from lost pets to political messages on power poles for decades.

Suddenly, it’s very dangerous:

It’s only a matter of time before someone is killed stapling signs to a power pole, electricians warn.
Key points:

A Queensland power company says people who staple signs onto power poles are flirting with death
A backpacker was injured stapling a sign to a pole, which caused an explosion, in North Brisbane earlier this year
An Energex spokesman says it’s a miracle that the man survived at all

Energex’s north Brisbane area manager Chris Graham said a man was lucky to be alive after he tried to nail a sign to a pole in August this year.

The man pierced through a cable with a staple gun, resulting in an explosion that vaporised metal and burnt his face.

Mr Graham said it was miraculous that the man survived at all.

“They caused an electrical arc explosion, which is twice as hot as the surface of the sun — 19,000 degrees Celsius — right in their face,” Mr Graham said.

“That person has been exposed to a life-altering injury … it is extremely lucky they were not hurt more seriously or fatally injured.”

When the 1,100V cable was punctured, Mr Graham said it cut power to nearly 1,500 homes at Holland Park East.

The man’s identity was unknown at the time because he fled the scene, leaving behind only a scorched advertising sign and a staple gun.

Mr Graham said they now know the man was a backpacker who had been working for a local roofing company at the time of the near-fatal incident.
Risk of fines, danger to staff

Mr Graham said some Brisbane businesses were serial offenders, illegally plastering advertisements on poles all over the city.

No other agenda here?

The Russians have been using their de-mothballed T-55s as infantry support assault guns rather than tanks per se. I thought that was interesting as the infantry tank concept led to the Matilda. We’re sort of getting back to that, although the survivability of anything on wheels is rather iffy these days with all the exotic weapon systems in service now.

Foreign Nationals?

Unlikely

They are Dual Citizenship types

Eh?

There is no Palestinian nationality (The PLA issues an identity/travel document called a passport, but not in the name of Palestine). Most Plaestinians who can travel aborad do so on a Jordanian passport.

These people no doubt have family links to Gaza, but they are nationalised citizens of other nations; ergo, foreign nationals.

That may not be correct:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia – Palestinian passport

Cover of an ordinary Palestinian passport
Type Passport
Issued by Palestinian Authority
Purpose Identification
Eligibility Residents of areas under the Palestinian Authority.
Expiration 5 years after acquisition
Cost US$19.90
The Palestinian Authority Passport (Arabic: ???? ??? ?????? ??????????) is a passport/travel document issued since April 1995 by the Palestinian Authority to Palestinian residents of the Palestinian territories for the purpose of international travel.

The Palestinian Authority passport is available to anyone on production of a birth certificate showing that they were born in Palestine. What constitutes “Palestine” for this purpose is not clear. In practice, only residents of areas under the Palestinian Authority jurisdiction can apply

Dual citizenship does not necessarily relate to nationality, but to ability to have a passport of a country and thus claim assistance as a citizen.

You can argue semantics and find anything you want on the internet, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that people have diplomatic status identified by their passports, these people are generally called, Dual Citizens.

Forbes – The Russians Reportedly Knocked Out Two More Ukrainian Leopard 2 Tanks. That’s Five Leopard 2 Losses In A Week.

It seems Russian forces have knocked out another two Ukrainian Leopard 2 tanks. If so, they would be the fourth and fifth Leopard 2 loss in just a week or so along a single sector of the 600-mile front line of Russia’s wider war on Ukraine.

The apparent recent Leopard 2 losses all happened in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where the Ukrainian army’s 33rd Mechanized Brigade—the sole user of the initial 40 69-ton Leopard 2A4s Ukraine got from its European allies this spring—lately has assumed a lead role, replacing the exhausted 47th Mechanized Brigade four months into Ukraine’s southern counteroffensive.

“The enemy’s losses in that direction totaled as many as 85 personnel, three tanks including two Leopards, four armored combat vehicles and two motor vehicles,” the Kremlin told state media Thursday.

The Russian defense ministry frequently lies about Ukrainian losses, so be skeptical. But also note: there’s video seemingly depicting at least one of the recent strikes on a Leopard 2.

A spike in Ukrainian Leopard 2 losses isn’t unexpected. As the 33rd Brigade shifts into closer daily contact with Russian regiments along the axis between Verbove and Melitopol in Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia, its Leopard 2 battalion—normally equipped with at least 30 active tanks—is exposed to more mines, artillery barrages and, most critically, explosives-laden first-person-view drones.

Drones seem to be responsible for most of the five recent Leopard 2A4 kills.

A surge in Russian drone ops might be the other big factor in the 33rd Brigade’s escalating losses. There are more and more FPV drones over Zaporizhzhia.

A two-pound FPV drone clutching a one-pound grenade isn’t a terribly powerful anti-tank weapon, explained Samuel Bendett, a senior non-resident associate with the Europe, Russia and Eurasia program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

“An FPV is not always better than other weapons since not every FPV hit results in an actual kill,” Bendett said. “Sometimes it takes multiple FPV drone strikes to destroy a target as large and well protected as a tank, while a powerful anti-tank [missile] can finish the job with a single hit.”

But FPV drones often attack in swarms. The first strike damages the tank, perhaps immobilizing it. The follow-on attacks incrementally wreck the tank.

It should go without saying that the more drones an army has, the more drones it can afford to deploy against a single vehicle.

In a year of determined effort, the Kremlin massively has expanded domestic production of small drones while also training up a corps of skilled drone operators.

Once the industrial and personnel infrastructure is in place, it’s easy for a military to scale up an FPV drone force. “FPVs are ubiquitous because of their cheap cost—around $400-500 per drone—and both sides in the Ukraine war are supplying many thousands of them per month,” Bendett said. “So we are seeing a drone saturation on the battlefield.”

What’s happening now, over Zaporizhzhia, was all but inevitable once Moscow got serious about deploying FPV drones.

Inescapable Russian drones make it extremely dangerous for a Ukrainian tank crew to break cover and travel across fields or along roads, especially in daytime: a brutal reality the 33rd Mechanized Brigade’s tankers surely appreciate.

To be clear, Ukraine isn’t about to run out of Western-made tanks.

The recent spike in tank losses belies Ukraine’s overall success in preserving its Western tanks, which so far include 40 German-made Leopard 2A4s and 21 Leopard 2A6s, a few dozen Leopard 1A5s, 10 Strv 122s from Sweden, 14 Challenger 2s from the United Kingdom and 31 American-made M-1A1s. Additional Leopard 1s and Leopard 2s are scheduled for delivery.

More than 100 passengers a year fly to Austria when they meant to fly to Australia

So Salzburg Airport has a special counter for them

Accompanying the post is a picture of a billboard at a Salzburg Airport luggage carousel.

The billboard in the photo – which was first posted to the meme website 9GAG in 2021 – reads: “Sorry, this is Austria not Australia! Need help? Please press the button.” To the right of the text, an image of an “SOS” button stands out against the advertisement’s solid blue background.

The claim about travellers mistaking Austria for Australia resurfaced again last week in a TikTok video and post on X that have both been viewed millions of times.

The problem, of course, is that none of it is true.

What started as a popular but misinformed meme on the less mainstream corners of the internet has exploded into a viral gag about the mistakes well-intentioned travellers can make.

Salzburg Airport confirmed that it does not, in fact, have a help desk for sunny Australian holiday hopefuls who found themselves in landlocked Austria instead.

“There is no such counter at Salzburg Airport, never has been, as a matter of fact. I have never heard of anyone travelling to Salzburg by mistake, when they actually wanted to go to Australia,” Susanne Buchebner, deputy head of public relations for Salzburg airport, said.

Buchebner said an ad run by a company called Commend, which sells intercom systems, several years ago was the root of the recent rumour.

‘Vanity project’: Clover Moore feels the heat over $22m sculpture fail

A controversial art project that has already cost the City of Sydney millions of dollars has been labelled the lord mayor’s “vanity project” during a fiery council meeting.

Clover Moore’s opponents criticised the failed Cloud Arch sculpture as an “unmitigated disaster from the outset” as the majority of councillors voted to hit pause on the troubled project at the meeting on Monday night.

The council blamed cost blowouts and light rail construction for its decision to cancel the proposed tender for the Junya Ishigami-designed steel archway planned for George Street and defer consideration of the project until after the tram line is finished.

It emerged last week that the price for building the arch, which at one stage was to have cost about $3.5 million, had blown out to $22 million. That was on top of the $2.25 million the council has spent on the artwork over the past three years.

Council papers said the cost had increased again following a more recent estimate of $11.3 million because of design changes necessitated by the light rail construction, delays to work caused by the tram project and other associated costs caused by those delays.

Cr Moore said it was “a sad but sensible decision” to delay work on the $22 million sculpture. “There has been a lack of cooperation and in fact we have been hampered in every way with this exciting project,” she said.

But Councillor Kerryn Phelps, who sensationally quit Cr Moore’s group of independents in 2017, said she was angry that councillors had not been “fully informed” about “ongoing problems that have dogged the project since 2015”.

Israel rescues soldier held hostage, IDF says
Yoni Bashan
Yoni Bashan

A captured female soldier held hostage by Hamas for three weeks has been freed by Israeli special forces during a joint operation with the country’s intelligence services, carried out on Monday in the Gaza Strip.

Private Ori Megidish, who served as a lookout on the southern border, was rescued in a mission whose details weren’t released in full by the Israel Defence Force. Officials said Pvt Megidish received medical attention and assessments before being reunited with her family.

Delighted by the significance of the news, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the work of the soldiers and intelligence agencies involved while issuing a threat to Hamas, saying there would be no ceasefire arrangements of the kind it had been seeking.

“We will continue to hunt you. We will strike you until you fall at our feet,” Mr Netanyahu said, adding that the coming months would include difficulties, losses, pitfalls and surprises. “But in the end, I promise you one thing: Hamas will be crushed. Hamas will be defeated; there will be a different Gaza.”

News of the hostage rescue came hours after Hamas released dramatic footage of three female captives, one of whom was filmed severely criticising Mr Netanyahu and demanding he accelerate their release.

The women have been identified as Yelena Tropanov, abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz, Danielle Aloni, also from Nir Oz, and Rimon Kirscht, from Kibbutz Nirim. Tropanov’s husband was murdered and all three women were taken captive with relatives.

Media outlets in Israel have chosen not to publish the footage released by Hamas, which is believed to be holding at least 239 more hostages taken on October 7 during the civilian massacres carried out across southern Israel.

I wonder how many “joint operations” are aimed at senior Hamas members?

Originally titled “So Not White, One Dwarf, and the Six Painfully Intersectional Magical Fairyland Hipsters,” [Editor’s note: it was not originally titled that at all.] the reboot has been plagued with bad press starting more than a year before the original March 2024 release date.

When the first stills came out the hilarity and mockery dialed up to 11½. Now at least Disney has decided to insert 7 CGI dwarves instead of the weird hipster actors, who looked like a perfect cross section of intersectional woke. Stay tuned: there’re going to be more popcornworthy disasters to come for this turkey, methinks.

What is it with ‘environmentalits’ who are obsessed with stalking selected creatures?

To make themselves more ‘caring’, and to attract grant funds, they trap and attach tracking mechanisms to reptiles, birds and animals, and keep on trapping them to weigh and measure them

This is not science, it is grant harvesting. And it is not good for the animals.

For some reason, recording any kind of activity in the animal world is now worthy of taxpayer funds.

Random Historical Snippet.

On the 12th of October, 1942, an Australian soldier – a cook at the 112th Australian General Hospital at Adelaide River in the Northern Territory – was shot and killed by one of three U.S. Army officers of the 43rd Service Squadron intent on arresting him.

The Australian had allegedly displayed homosexual tendencies towards two U.S. soldiers swimming in a watering hole several days previously. (He had been witnessed masturbating, but the available record of inquiry does not contain any allegation of assault or attempted assault. He had also been suspected of undesirable tendencies by his own sub-unit – again, with no allegation of criminal behaviour such as assault – but no action had been taken prior to his death).

When the three U.S. officers approached him by the same swimming hole on the 12th, he was informed he was under arrest, but fled on foot. He was unarmed and offered no violence. One of the Americans began to chase after him, but the other two fired eight shots (in total) from their pistols, one shot entering his back and perforating the pulmonary artery, whereupon he fell to the ground and was declared deceased.

While the G.O.C. of Northern Territory Force considered the actions to apprehend the Australian excessive, and it was reported that the U.S. area commander ‘preferred a charge of homicide,’ it is not clear in the Australian record what legal outcome was arrived at. Based on an initial agreement when the Americans entered the theatre, U.S. servicemen were NOT to be subject to Australian civil courts, but were to be tried by their own service.

(Leonski in Melbourne was charged and sentenced to death by hanging by the U.S. Army, though the sentence was carried out at Pentridge, despite the Australian federal government’s reluctance. Similarly, the U.S. serviceman who stabbed to death an Australian soldier (Tatchell) in mid October, 1942 in Brisbane, was tried by the U.S. Army and acquitted by reason of self defense. Tatchell had not been armed. This manslaughter received publicity at the time, and roughly five weeks later, the Brisbane Riots/Battle of Brisbane took place in the city centre. Tatchell’s battalion had by then arrived in Papua).

The 36 year-old Australian cook from Sydney was buried in the Adelaide River War Cemetery.

The man pierced through a cable with a staple gun, resulting in an explosion that vaporised metal and burnt his face.

We rock-jawed, steely-eyed Queenslanders know better than to staple things into cables. And even if we do, we don’t whinge about a bit of vaporised metal exploded into the face.

In the second, the underwear seemed to be gone, and a Hamarse was sitting roughly where her head should be, with a boot planted between her legs. I suspect that she was dead in the second version.

Bons,
I think the clip you watched might be the one involving Senator Malcolm Roberts questioning ACMA. You night find more info via his web page, YouTube or Twitter page.

Basically the Government had subcontracted an outside agency to alert social media companies to breaches of their policies. This was so they could take appropriate action. Such action by coincidence also helped the Government. Senator Antic has also been hot on the subject of Government being involved in censoring comments did not like. FOI’s have revealed plenty of examples. Craig Kelly’s posts regarding vaccine and Covid in particular were censored. Even an Australian Facebook page for vaccine injured was shut down.

The big news from Senate Estimates was Senator Rennick questioning head of Gene Technology Regulatory Body. She was a disaster. The regulations clearly shows gene technology products need to be licensed. Pfizer and Moderna were not. She said it did not matter as they were not made in Australia and were imported. However the legislation clearly mentions imported. She even denied something that was shown on Pfizer web page. There is a very good Substack article about this by Dr Ark Kan Sad aka Ark Medic (I think that is correct). Well worth reading and it includes the video clip. There is no doubt she lied to the Senate.

JUST IN – Time Magazine reports that Ukraine struggles to rally financial support after its failed counteroffensive and amid allegations of widespread corruption.

• A top Ukrainian presidential advisor warns that “people are stealing like there’s no tomorrow” when asked about bribes and corruption.

• 59% of Americans don’t want Congress to provide more weapons to Kyiv, up from 35% in June.

• The southeastern fifth of Ukraine, where the population is predominantly Russian speakers, remains under Russian control.

• Zelensky’s close advisor warns that “He deludes himself. We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that.”

• Ukraine’s shortage of soldiers is more dire than its deficit in arms and ammunition. Draft officers pull men off trains and buses and send them to the front.

• The death toll has long surpassed 100,000 on each side of the war, forcing the draft of the elderly, raising the average age of a Ukrainian soldier to around 43 years.

• Corruption remains widespread despite Zelensky firing numerous officers and the Defense Minister.

• Zelensky is worried that the focus of Ukraine’s allies in the U.S. and Europe and of the global media has already shifted to Israel, Palestine, and the Gaza Strip.

Why are Time Magazine and the corporate media starting to throw Ukraine and Zelensky under the bus?

The two factors delineating the inevitable denouement are Biden’s disappearance and the unaffordable strategic risk of maintaining an eastern European sink-hole for money and materiel – when other theatres of crisis (and military programs) need bolstering. Politically, Biden (or his replacement) requires the war to go until next Christmas.

If Trump wins, he will do the formalities and the Democrats will attribute the debacle to him – just like they did to Nixon.

Israel envoy wears yellow star at UN
Agency writers

Israel’s UN ambassador displayed a yellow star on his chest on Monday as he addressed the Security Council, provocatively pledging to wear the badge until members of the body condemn Hamas “atrocities”, AFP reports.

“Some of you have learned nothing in the past 80 years. Some of you have forgotten why this body was established,” envoy Gilad Erdan said, as he denounced the Security Council for “staying silent” over the unprecedented deadly attacks by Hamas Palestinian militants against Israel on October 7.

The deeply divided 15-member council has not adopted a single resolution on the three-week-long war between Israel and Hamas.

“So, I will remind you. From this day on, each time you look at me you will remember what staying silent in the face of evil means,” the ambassador said.

“Just like my grandparents, and the grandparents of millions of Jews, from now on my team and I will wear yellow stars,” he said, standing up to affix one on the breast of his suit inscribed with the words “Never Again,” in reference to the yellow stars Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis.

But Erdan will wear it “as a symbol of pride,” he said.

“We will wear this star until you wake up and condemn the atrocities of Hamas.”

Sales for U.S. defense contractors went up to $50 billion in 2022 (compared to approximately $35 billion in 2021). Furthermore, these businesses are able to test their equipment in real time. Tucker And Farage: Why Aren’t Muslim Countries Taking Muslim Refugees?

BY TYLER DURDEN

Tucker Carlson sat down with former UK politician Nigel Farage to discuss where refugees from current conflicts in the Middle East should go, considering that there will be “hundreds of thousands, possibly millions” of them in the coming weeks, months and years.

“So if you were to suggest ‘well why isn’t Israel take them in, it’s their War’, the response you would get would be… ‘that’s insane these people are dangerous.’”

Likewise, a country with Christian roots such as the United States – which feels it should try to help people, should remember that “the duty of any government its primary duty is the Integrity of its own country and its citizens,” Carlson continued.

Carlson then observes that there’s a distinct lack of voices calling for countries with booming economies, such as China, to bear the refugee load.

Why instead are Christian countries, historically bastions of refuge, the only ones saddled with this “obligation”?

“It’s interesting that no one ever says well China’s got the fastest-growing economy in the world they have an obligation to take in millions of refugees,” he said.

Farage noted the UK’s “great history in the UK of taking refugees,” noting that “they did very, very well in Commerce, Finance, the military in our country,” in terms of persecuted groups that the country has taken in throughout history.

But juxtapose this with the recent waves of refugees, and a disturbing pattern emerges.

A significant number of these refugees, especially from regions like Gaza, are potential sympathizers of extremist groups like Hamas.

Given the spate of extremist-driven incidents in the West, particularly in the UK, one can’t help but wonder: are Western countries knowingly or unknowingly sowing the seeds of their own societal unrest?

“So if you take any significant number from Gaza into our country, you will have a significant percentage of Hamas sympathizers and supporters among them,” said Carlson.

To which Farage replied: “And if anyone should take them Tucker, shouldn’t it be the Egyptians? Shouldn’t it be the Saudis? Shouldn’t it be their co-religionists in that part of the world? And how interesting that Saudi Arabia didn’t take a single person from Syria because they were worried of the impact it would have on Saudi Society.

Right. And the same goes for Egypt.”

Marxism and ‘conservative cowardice.’

According to Farage,

“We have allowed the virus of Marxism to take hold in our countries,” noting how Britain and the United States are being indoctrinated with a toxic blend of guilt over their colonial pasts, allegations of institutional racism, and a host of other divisive narratives.

All the while, conservative voices, which could counter this downward spiral, remain silenced by a spineless media establishment.

“Conservative cowardice through politics and media has led to so very much of this,” he continued.

Calls for Albanese to follow ‘powerful’ lead of former PMs on Middle East war amid ‘division or splinters’ in Labor government

The Opposition has urged the Albanese government to stand united on the Israel and Hamas war like all former living prime ministers have amid accusations Labor has fractured over the matter.

Yashee Sharma – Digital Reporter

The Opposition has called on the Albanese government to follow the lead of the nation’s former prime ministers and make its stance on the Israel and Hamas war clear.

A joint statement, drafted by Malcolm Turnbull, explicitly condemned Hamas for its October 7 terrorist attack and supported Israel’s right to defence on Monday.

The statement was signed by John Howard, Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott, Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison – every living former prime minister aside from Paul Keating who abstained.

Shadow foreign affairs minister Simon Birmingham said it was a “powerful” statement and urged the Albanese government to also be “firm and in lock stead” on the matter.

“Even with the division or splinters in the Labor Party, from Paul Keating or from different Ministers, they’ve got to be solid and firm about Israel’s right to self defence and its right to remove Hamas as a threat in the future,” he told Sky News Australia on Tuesday.

“We have to – Penny Wong, Kevin Rudd, Anthony Albanese, and all on our side as well – need to be making sure, in our statements, we are being crystal clear about the causes and genesis of this which is Hamas as a terrorist organisation and a reminder of those atrocities from October 7.”

Mr Birmingham’s call comes off the back of comments from his federal opposition, Penny Wong, who appeared to issue a stern warning to Israel over its unrelenting retaliation in Gaza.

“When Israel’s friends urge Israel to protect civilian life, as we have, it is critical that Israel listens,” the Foreign Minister told ABC Radio on Monday.

“We are seeing continuing civilian deaths. I think we saw in the United Nations vote that the international community will not accept continuing civilian deaths.”

Ms Wong has maintained the Albanese government’s sentiment that Israel has the right to defence but added “the way it does so matters”.

The government has also called for an immediate ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid into the war-torn enclave of Gaza but has stopped short of condemning Israel for its bombing and complete siege on innocent Palestinians.

Labor frontbenchers and ministers have, however, broken ranks with their public support for Palestine, creating accusations of the party’s fractured stance on the flaring conflict in the Middle East.

Employment Minister Tony Burke last week backed a decision of the Canterbury-Bankstown Council in his electorate of Watson to fly the Palestinian flag in two locations until a ceasefire is declared.

Labor Cabinet Ministers Ed Husic and Anne Aly have argued Israel’s attacks on Gaza constituted the crime of collective punishment, as more than 2.2 million Palestinians have been cut off from food, water, fuel and other essential supplies.

In New South Wales, 12 Labor MPs were among 20 signatories on a statement urging the Albanese government to call upon all actors, including Israel, to comply with international humanitarian law.

Welcome back Wolfman! We’re off in about a week…scenic route via Japan (one night only). Home for Christmas.

I’m a bit worried about the cold, but I have my Eskimo Nell coat and possum mink accoutrements for hands and head. If the face does freeze over, I hope it’s with a benign expression.

London is a great city. Shame about the imports who add nothing to it at all.

Thanks calli – enjoy your holiday !

IIRC, Sydney Ontario is where an occasional misdirected traveler ends up.

So Salzburg Airport has a special counter for them

That is going a bit far, however, for Ozzi travelers, a t-shirt with the slogan: There are no Kangaroos in Austria is a must-have souvenir from Austria.

The CIA is so out of control they could have 12 competing sections anonymously competing with each other.

It has always been utterly irresponsible and it arguably outlived its usefulness 30 years ago.

It is one thing to get all fired up and doing the Allan’s Snackbar thing, but I wonder if a slow subterranean siege might affect the Hams differently – the boredom, the claustrophobic spaces, the slowly diminishing food and water supplies, and having nothing to do to get out.

Actions Now have Consequences!

How a sign at Melbourne’s Collingwood Yards wine bar slamming ‘dumb white dogs’ and calling for Israel to be abolished backfires as law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler withdraws as a partner

. Anti-Israel sign backfires
. Lawyers withdraw partnership

A community activist group’s banner labelling Israelis ‘dumb white dogs’ has cost their centre the support of a prestigious law firm.

Aboriginal group This Mob Arts Collective has faced fierce criticism since displaying the racist banner, which reads: ‘Free Palestine from the colonising dumb white dogs!!! Abolish Israel!!! P***y a** baby killing b***h a*** Bibi (Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu)!!’.

Now major law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler is withdrawing its financial support of community arts hub Collingwood Yards where the banner was produced as part of a protest workshop hosted by community radio station Hope St.

The collective arts space also has a rooftop wine bar.

‘From what I understand, one of my partners was asked for advice on the appropriate wording of a statement you planned to issue in response to the banner.

‘However, Collingwood Yards proceeded to issue a statement noting that antisemitism is unacceptable but made no mention of the context in which the banner had been produced and promoted, namely the torture, murder and kidnapping of Israeli Jews, as though it had never happened and had no relevance to the offensive behaviour facilitated by your tenants.’

Mr Leibler said his firm had received plenty of flak over its support of groups that produced the offensive banner, and wanted all their branding removed immediately.

Collingwood Yards acting chief executive Nail Aykan told the Australian Financial Review that Hamas’ actions were not referred to for the sake of the banner’s brevity.

‘Word count matters,’ Mr Aykan said. ‘It was really a matter of keeping it succinct and keeping the word count down; otherwise it becomes beyond people’s attention span.’

The law firm was a founding partner of Collingwood Yards in 2021 and has donated more than $1million in pro bono legal advice along with cash donations and firm partners sitting on the board.

After photos of the banner workshop and its finished products began circulating on social media, condemnation began pouring in.

Anti-Defamation Commission chair Dvir Abramovich savaged the contents of the main poster.

‘All the moral guardrails that we took for granted have fallen off and it is no surprise that the Jewish community feels besieged and under attack,’ Dr Abramovich told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Such ugly and open displays of antisemitism, that cross all red lines, are tearing to shred the values we as Australians hold dear.

‘I never thought I would see such hate-fuelled events taking place in the country that I love, and the ripple effects of such demonisation are being felt deeply by us.

‘This venomous poster, calling for Israel to be erased, fans the flames of hostility at a dangerous time when anti-semitism in Australia is skyrocketing.’

High-profile Burgertory CEO issues open letter to Jewish community after video surfaced showing him chanting anti-Israel slogan at Melbourne protest – but he stops short of apologising

. Hash Tayeh, founder of Burgertory, led protest chants
. Some have labelled the chants anti-Semitic in nature
. Mr Tayeh since issued ‘open letter to my Jewish friends’

Burgertory has 18 stores in Melbourne, including one in the suburb of Caulfield which is home to 20,000 Jews.

Mr Tayeh has rapidly expanded Burgertory, claiming earlier this year he hopes to have over 50 stores in operation, including 10 new restaurants in NSW, by the end of 2023.

The company turned over $30 million in burger sales in 2021.

His statement to Melbourne’s Jewish community comes just a day after the co-owner of Australia’s most popular bakery was forced to issue a grovelling apology over allegedly anti-Semitic comments.

Cameron Reid, who runs the wildly popular Lune Croissanterie with his sister Kate, questioned Israel’s right to exist and claimed hostages taken by Hamas were ‘lucky not to be corpses’ in a leaked Instagram message.

He later said he accepted if he was ‘cancelled’ and apologised for his comments.

Over 1,400 Israeli’s died in the Hamas terror attack on October 7, which has since been dubbed ‘Israel’s 9/11’.

In addition to the slaughter of innocent civilians, almost 230 hostages were taken, among them young children and the elderly. Only four have been released so far.

Zelensky ‘feels betrayed’ by West – Time

The Ukrainian president said that the conflict has “become like a show” to the Western public

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky feels “betrayed” by his Western backers, who have denied him the support and attention he has grown used to, his aides told Time magazine.

According to the report, published on Monday, the president’s circle now see him as “delusional” and the conflict with Russia as impossible to win.

Zelensky and his advisors spoke to the US magazine after the Ukrainian president visited Washington last month. Unlike the hero’s welcome he received last December, the most recent visit saw Zelensky grilled about corruption in Ukraine and forbidden from addressing lawmakers on Capitol Hill.

Despite US President Joe Biden’s pledge to support Kiev “for as long as it takes,” Congress has failed to agree on a new aid bill for Ukraine.

Ten days after Zelensky returned to Kiev from Washington, lawmakers managed to pass a spending bill to avert a government shutdown, but only after stripping $6 billion in Ukraine funding from it.

“Zelensky feels betrayed by his Western allies. They have left him without the means to win the war, only the means to survive it,” Time wrote, citing a member of his team.

“The scariest thing is that part of the world got used to the war in Ukraine,” Zelensky said. “Exhaustion with the war rolls along like a wave.

You see it in the United States, in Europe. And we see that as soon as they start to get a little tired, it becomes like a show to them: ‘I can’t watch this rerun for the 10th time’.”

Zelensky told Time that he still believes that his forces can defeat Russia on the battlefield, and that he will not entertain any negotiations with Moscow, despite Ukraine’s summer counteroffensive failing to achieve its objectives and resulting in what the magazine called “enormous losses.”

According to the most recent Russian figures, the Ukrainian military lost more than 90,000 men between early June and the beginning of this month.

“He deludes himself,” one of Zelensky’s closest aides told Time. “We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that.”

The outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war has drawn the attention of the West away from Kiev in recent weeks, with the Pentagon surging troops and weapons to the Middle East and US House Speaker Mike Johnson prioritizing a vote on military aid to the Jewish state instead of Ukraine.

“It’s logical,” Zelensky told Time, adding that while “the world’s help is needed” in Israel, “we lose out.”

Zelensky to search for scapegoats over failed counteroffensive – Time

A big reshuffle is looming in the Ukrainian government, according to the magazine

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is expected to launch a “major shake-up” of the country’s military and political leadership, Time magazine has reported, citing his aides.

The looming reshuffle is intended to demonstrate “accountability” for the lack of progress in the stalled counteroffensive against Russia, as well as deal with the apparently growing opposition to Zelensky’s desire to continue the hostilities no matter what.

Zelensky remains adamant in his desire to ‘defeat’ Russia on the battlefield, but his “stubbornness” has become borderline “messianic,” one of the president’s advisers said, on condition of anonymity. “He deludes himself. We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that.”

The reality on the ground, however, is very different from Zelensky’s vision of scoring an ultimate victory over Moscow, and dissent is apparently growing.

According to one of his aides, “some front-line commanders … have begun refusing orders to advance, even when they came directly from the office of the president.”

“They [the military] just want to sit in the trenches and hold the line. But we can’t win a war that way,” the aide said, admitting the troops were not actually “moving forward.”

In addition, the country is not very well-prepared for the upcoming winter, the aides suggested, adding that pinning failing infrastructure and other hardships exclusively on Russia might not work this time.

“Last year, people blamed the Russians,” one of them said. “This time, they’ll blame us for not doing enough to prepare.”

To fix the situation, Zelensky is expected to launch a major reshuffle of his team shortly, with the “shake-up” affecting both military and civilian leadership. “At least one minister would need to be fired, along with a senior general in charge of the counteroffensive,” the article suggested, citing the aides, who did not provide the exact names of the potential scapegoats. The move is primarily meant to create “accountability” for the lack of progress on the frontline, they said.

Kiev launched its counteroffensive against Russian forces in early June, but it has so far neglected to achieve any tangible results.

In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the counteroffensive had effectively failed, resulting in minor gains and heavy losses for the Ukrainian military. According to Moscow’s estimates, the push cost Kiev more than 90,000 troops, as well as hundreds of military hardware, including assorted Western-supplied tanks and armored vehicles.

‘Disingenuous’ parents offended by a Sydney Catholic school’s stance on lesbian prom couples can simply take their children elsewhere

The political uproar generated by an Australian school’s policy for its end-of-year formal is a sad indictment on Australia’s commitment to religious freedom, writes James Macpherson.

James Macpherson
SkyNews.com.au Contributor and Political Commentator

Catholic girls graduating from a Catholic school got the surprise of their lives last week when they discovered they really had been attending a Catholic school after all.

Mass confusion broke out when Saint Ursula’s College in Sydney advised its female students they could not bring another female as their partner to the end-of-year formal- something to do with the church’s 2000-year-old doctrine on sexuality.

Outrage ensued.

Sure, the Bible says “yada yada”, but hadn’t Australia voted “Yes” to same sex marriage in 2017?

Moses said. Jesus said. The Apostle Paul said. But then 62 per cent of Australians said!

“It is written …”

You know, in the Marriage Act.

Sydney radio hosts slammed the Catholic school, with 2GB’s Chris O’Keefe telling listeners.

“That is a disgrace. That is a disgrace,” he said.

“I went to a Catholic High School. It’s 2023 people. Seriously, get over yourselves.”

So, O’Keefe went to a Catholic school. Who died and made him the Pope?

He should know that stating the date is not the same as making an argument.

What he fails to understand is that church doctrine doesn’t “get with the times” for the simple reason that it is beyond the times.

God does not sit in heaven, constantly updating his thinking on things so as to more accurately reflect the mood of the Australian people.

To imagine he does is to imagine a God created in our image, rather than the other way around.

Radio 2GB’s Ben Fordham told listeners: “We did vote on this back in 2017.”

“We weren’t voting on school formals. We were voting on same sex relationships and same sex marriage.

“It has now been legal for almost six years. So you can marry another woman, you just can’t take one to your school formal.”

I like Ben Fordham.

But he demonstrates just how secular Australia has become when he expresses genuine surprise the Catholic Church hasn’t updated its doctrines to conform to cultural trends.

Huh? The church still believes in Christianity? But didn’t we vote?!?!

What if the next opinion poll shows most Australians no longer believe in God? Should the Catholic Church kill Him off?

Yeah, look God. We’re sorry to tell you this, but we took a vote, and you don’t exist anymore.

The powers running the school are now under pressure from none other Catholic Premier Chris Minns who told the Sydney Morning Herald:

“I think in this day and age you should be able to take anyone you like to your Year 12 formal – we are after all talking about teenagers who are close to or over the age of 18.”

Premier, it’s not the girls’ age that is the sticking point, it’s the church’s doctrine.

The girls could be 75 with whiskers and it still wouldn’t change the fact that same-sex relationships aren’t how Catholic schools roll because, well – they’re Catholic.

Equality Australia CEO Anna Brow lamented the fact “exemptions” in federal and NSW law currently allow?religious schools to discriminate against students?because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Note how religious freedom, once an inalienable right, has been redefined as an “exemption” generously granted by the political class.

“These discriminatory practices are not theoretical or academic, as this incident sadly demonstrates, and one in three students attend non-government schools, most of which are religiously affiliated,” Ms Brow said.

Don’t let Ms Brow fool you.

She is not anti-discrimination.

Ms Brow simply favours discriminating against families enrolled in a Catholic school for its doctrine and in favour of families enrolled in the same school wanting to dismantle the religion’s teachings.

She added: “These legal gaps could be addressed very simply and quickly. The law should reflect what the vast majority of Australians already believe, including many people of faith.”

So, the ability of Catholics to practice their religion is a “legal gap” that needs to be plugged.

Tell me again we live in a free country.

Education Minister Prue Car went where angels fear to tread, urging the school to change its stance.

“I think you should be able to take who you want to take in 2023,” she said.

Sure. Go ahead and tell that to the local Islamic school, Prue. See how you go.

You’d think the Education Minister would understand that faith-based schools are based on faith.

If taking your same sex partner to the school formal is a high priority, there are plenty of public schools that will happily accommodate.

The private education system exists, in large part, because its public counterpart makes it very clear it does not welcome or accommodate families with conservative and/or religious values.

But it’s disingenuous to enrol your kids in a Catholic school and then complain that your kids are in a Catholic school, as if you have been hoodwinked.

Ol’ Musky trying to recreate his youthful pre-Paypal days at X.com ?

Elon Musk has given his employees at social media platform X a year to roll out a payments processing mechanism that will enable people to do away with their bank accounts.
“When I say payments, I actually mean someone’s entire financial life,” Musk told his charges at an all-hands meeting on Thursday.
… “If it involves money, it’ll be on our platform,” Musk said, adding: “I’m talking about, like, you won’t need a bank account.”

On the one hand, Twitter – even the Elonified version – being able to financially cancel you in addition to socially cancelling you is not a good risk.
On the other hand, the banks that are devaluing our currency (from the RBA on down) could maybe use some competition from a parallel payment system.

What Abronese is walking into in Beijing:

Militarily, this is an entirely unequal confrontation. One side is a state apparatus, the other side consists of civilians. If the US continues to support Israel in killings of innocent civilians, it will only make more countries realize that the US and Israel represent international hegemony and power politics.

Western countries also have internal divisions over the Israel-Palestine conflict. On Friday, the UNGA held an emergency special session and adopted a Gaza resolution with 120 votes in favor. Major European countries, including Spain, France, Germany, the UK, and Australia, either supported or abstained. Countries that truly support the US and Israel in taking the so-called self-defense military action are very few. The profound division in Western society reflects the increasingly unpopular hegemonic actions of the US in the international community.

Beyond loose bowels over oil security in the Persian Gulf, China really doesn’t give a frying fluck about Gaza or Palestinians. They are troublesome and neither consumers or suppliers or potential clients – and the world knows exactly what China would do in Israel’s circumstances.

What would bring eternal golden joy to Emperor Xi however, would be a wedge driven into the US’s reliable foothold in the Pacific.

How better to do that than to purchase a small flabbyman, with a tribal group propping up in his leadership while yelling ‘From the River to the Sea’ in tongues.

A retro joint communique on everlasting global peace and win-win-win prosperity would go down a treat. Followed by a token gift card offering access to the Middle Kingdom for Aussie wine and lobsters.

And peace in our time for Western Sydney – with a Happy Ending next erection.

Just enough to convince Congress that Australia May not be quite top shelf enough for AUKUS.

Why instead are Christian countries, historically bastions of refuge, the only ones saddled with this “obligation”?

1. What are the terms of holding an account at Twittter? Does your deposit receive FDI protection if it’s within the insured limit? If so, Twitter would have to register as a bank, so good luck getting through the 350 pages of regulations and onerous capital requirements.

2. If there’s no protection, would any sane person hold all their money with Twitter when the owner took out a huge loan to make the acquisition and the bonds are currently trading at junk level. It’s a big risk.

3. Is it going to be more of a payments system similar to Paypal then?

You mention banks are devaluing the currency from the “RBA on down”.

1. How are regular banks devaluing the currency?
2. Don’t you really mean central banks are?
3. What would it solve in moving Australian dollars from a bank account to a Twitter account when they are the same dollars and being devalued simultaneously?

Zelenskyy aide on corruption in Ukraine: ‘People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow’

One aide said officials were told, ‘Don’t buy anything. Don’t take any vacations. Just sit at your desk, be quiet, and work,’ to avoid seeming corrupt

An advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the government has suffered “reputational damage” on the world stage for its sluggish efforts to battle corruption.

TIME senior correspondent Simon Shuster wrote about his experience following Zelenskyy and his team back to Ukraine after they visited the U.S. in September to appeal for aid, noting in Washington they had faced “insistent calls for Zelensky to fight corruption inside his own government, and the fading enthusiasm for a war with no end in sight.”

Shuster reported that similarly grim sentiment appears among the public as well, as those with the money available “sometimes bribe their way out of service” and that such cases “became so widespread by the end of the summer that on Aug. 11 Zelensky fired the heads of the draft offices in every region of the country.”

“The decision was intended to signal his commitment to fighting graft. But the move backfired, according to the senior military officer, as recruitment nearly ground to a halt without leadership,”

Shuster wrote. “The fired officials also proved difficult to replace, in part because the reputation of the draft offices had been tainted.”

“Who wants that job?” an officer asked the reporter rhetorically. “It’s like putting a sign on your back that says: corrupt.”

As a key source of aid for Ukraine’s war effort, Shuster noted that the White House “prepared a list of anti-corruption reforms for the Ukrainians to undertake.”

“These were not suggestions,” one of Zelenskyy’s close aides said, but, rather, “conditions.’”

Shuster wrote that Zelenskyy fired his Minister of Defense, Oleksiy Reznikov, a member of his inner circle, as a means to address American corruption concerns, after Reznikov was suspected of corrupt behavior in his ministry.

Two presidential advisers claimed Reznikov had not been personally involved, “But he failed to keep order within his ministry,” one said, noting the ministry had been over-paying for critical supplies, including eggs

“Amid all the pressure to root out corruption, I assumed, perhaps naively, that officials in Ukraine would think twice before taking a bribe or pocketing state funds. But when I made this point to a top presidential adviser in early October, he asked me to turn off my audio recorder, so he could speak more freely,” Shuster wrote.

“Simon, you’re mistaken,” an aide said. “People are stealing like there’s no tomorrow.””

The same official claimed that the Defense Minister’s firing did not have the desires effect because it took so long to occur.

Another advisor similarly noted that by the time of Zelenskyy’s crackdown, “it was too late,” as the “reputational damage was done.”

The TIME correspondent observed that even Ukrainian soldiers at the front have begun “making off-color jokes about ‘Reznikov’s eggs,’ a new metaphor for corruption.”

I’ve been thinking about the attack on Israelis and how they can solve it once and for all, but unfortunately, I’ve hit a wall. From a young age, the kids are brainwashed into believing they have to kill Jews. Killing Jews would form a decent part of the curriculum from the time they learn how to walk, and there’s the parents egging it on.

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but kids form 50% of the population, which means the mass murder of Jews is going to be generational. Let me say that I don’t for a second advocate it, but what solution is there other than also removing their children from this earth? These kids are having their minds filled with hate, and it’s a form of programming. How can there ever be peace when this is occurring? Of course, there won’t be, which means this is going to go on indefinitely.

Considering the vast network, I’d imagine you’d need a lot of smoke.

If its anything like stench gas then a little bit goes a very long way.
That’s what mines release underground to warn of an emergency, based on 2 theories.

1: not everyone will be in radio comes
2: the stuff goes absolutely everywhere you have airflow.

It’s very clever if the Israelis are using a coloured version to find ventilation & portals for wrecking.
I do wonder if hamarse thought to put in scrubbers of some sort.

Roman emperor hailed as ‘black Briton’ – even though he wasn’t black – Paywalled

Lucius Septimius Severus has been included in teaching material and children’s books

A Roman emperor who appears on numerous lists of “black Britons” was not black.

Lucius Septimius Severus died on campaign in Britain in 211AD, and has also been named in overviews of “black British history” distributed by councils, teaching colleges, and children’s publishers, despite the emperor being of Middle Eastern and Italian descent.

The suggestion that Severus had black ancestry has been widely repeated, and the Museum of Cambridge this month hosted “Black History Lectures” that included a talk on the ancient ruler.

Last year, the Museum of London created a timeline outlining “Black Londoners through time”, which included the emperor.

Severus was also included on the front cover of a 2022 Puffin children’s book by This Morning presenter Alison Hammond, called Black In Time, which was billed as a history of “the most awesome black Britons”.

Some depictions of the emperor appear to encourage the confusion by showing him with dark skin, compared to the women alongside him.

However, this is typical of Roman portraiture, as tanned skin was considered a sign of masculine outdoor activity and vigour in the ancient world, contrasted to women who would stay indoors, and therefore were depicted as pale.

Local authorities have produced similar material, and Hammersmith and Fulham council has created a timeline of black British history that includes the emperor as its first entry.

These materials do not elaborate on him being a black man but instead qualify his identity as “African”, because he was born in a city on the coast of north Africa called Leptis Magna, now a Unesco site.

Mistake made in US

On the streaming service BBC Select, a documentary on Severus was included in a range of programmes for Black History Month 2023, which takes “a contemporary look at black history” and “celebrates icons from the past and present”.

It is understood the inclusion of the emperor on the BBC Select site was a mistake made during Black History Month in the US, and the programme has now been removed from the listings.

Others have made firmer claims to his ancestry, including Sheffield teacher training college the SCITT, which, in online guidance, published following Black Lives Matter protests asked: “Why don’t we teach our students about Septimius Severus, the black Roman emperor?”

In online learning resources for the Black Lives Matter-inspired charity Anti-Racist Cumbria, Severus is also included, along with the claim that he is “widely believed by historians to have been a black man”.

The ruler was born in the Roman city of Leptis Magna on the coast of what is Libya, and the emperor’s connection to Britain lies in the fact that he died near York in 211AD during a military campaign, ending a reign that began in 193AD.

His mother was of Roman descent, and his father’s ancestry was Carthaginian, a Semitic people with origins in the Middle East.

The ancient biographical collection Historia Augustus explains that Severus was disturbed by the sight of a black person on one occasion, taking his “ominous colour” as a bad omen while on campaign.

‘Silly and patronising’

The inclusion of the emperor in a range of educational material claiming him as a “black Briton”, despite the reality of his ancestry, has been criticised as being “patronising” for black people in the UK

Cambridge historian Prof Robert Tombs said: “Pretending that Britain had a centuries-old black population is silly and rather patronising.

“Apart from tiny numbers, our black population dates overwhelmingly from the last few decades. Why be ashamed of this? Claiming otherwise leads to embarrassing mistakes, as in the recent removal of a plaque to the ‘first black British woman’, who turned out to be from the eastern Mediterranean.

“For the Romans, ‘Africa’ was North Africa, before the arrival of the Arabs, and part of the Graeco-Roman world. Hence, the emperor Septimius Severus was an ‘African’ of Phoenician and Italian descent.”

Fellow historian Zareer Masani said: “The attempt to claim past figures as black is pathetic and unhistorical, referring to a time when the concept of racial identity was non-existent.”

The BBC and others have been contacted for comment.

The west’s mass psychopathy moment
Melanie Phillips – Oct 31, 2023

The Palestinian cause has destroyed the free world’s moral compass

The problem of Gaza will only be solved, like the Palestinian issue itself, if the west stops supporting the Palestinian cause — and start addressing this conflict not as a fight over the division of land but as a genocidal war of extermination against Israel and the Jewish people.

Israel is fighting in Gaza not just against Hamas but against Iran. It is fighting a war for its existence against a genocidal enemy. That’s why this is a just war by Israel — indeed it could hardly be more justified. And the failure by the west to grasp how this has come about is why the west is now being convulsed by the forces of barbarism from within.

For it’s impossible to exaggerate the extent to which support for the Palestinian cause has destroyed the west’s moral compass. It’s not just that it’s been supporting an agenda whose aim, whether people understand this or not, is the annihilation of Israel and the murder of Jews. It is that it has produced a diabolical and deranged inversion of morality, which views genocide against the Jews as resistance and Jewish resistance as genocide.

I’ve seen this argument now 1.23 billion times at the Cat. Bank cannot lend money they don’t have, because if the money isn’t there then there’s no money to lend.

A bank balance comprises of Assets ( loans) on one side and liabilities (deposits + bonds) + equity, and both side must balance.

A bank cannot lend money it doesn’t have. Banks of course lend long and borrow short ( deposits can be removed any time) but this doesn’t mean banks can lend money they don’t have. If their deposits disappear they are broke and end up in liquidation or some form there of.

Mohammed, You’re Fired

The problem of former workers mapping out the communities they raided.

If you’re following the war against Hamas now, you’re likely bombarded by news of suffering of Palestinian Arabs, almost as much as we have been bombarded by Palestinian Arabs’ rockets. Much of this is fake news, perpetrated by Hamas and other Arab/Islamic terror groups using images and “statistics” of “suffering” to play to your sensibility. Don’t get me wrong. There is suffering, and it’s a shame.

But any real suffering is largely self-inflicted, and you’re simply not seeing the whole story and context. Let me explain.

It’s not only the “suffering” that you are seeing that we should care about, but the suffering that you are not seeing. There are many Palestinian Arab victims of the war, but these are all a direct consequence of Hamas’ terror.

One that you’re not seeing is economic.

I live in a Judean mountain community south of Jerusalem with Palestinian Arab communities surrounding us. Before October 7, there was not peace in the sense of the relationship as between the US and Canada. But there was peaceful coexistence, even mutual respect, and a sense that we relied upon one another.

Before October 7, hundreds of Palestinian Arab men and women came to work in our community from adjacent Arab communities daily.

I joked that on some days, there were more Arab men in our community than Jewish men, because the Arabs come in to work here, and Jewish men commute to their work elsewhere.

In my home alone, we’ve had Arab workers such as Ahmed, Omar, Mustafa, Fares, Imad, Auni, Morad, and Mohammed among others. In all cases, ALL cases, we had cordial to friendly and respectful relations with all these people, and their staff.

They provide services we need at a good value and we pay them much more than they could earn in their communities (if any work were to be found there). A free market can do wonders for coexistence. We offer them coffee and cake regularly, and cold drinks and watermelon on hot days.

Now, after October 7, all these people and many others who earned a living in Israeli Jewish communities (about 1/3 of the Palestinian Arab economy) will suffer, as people like us no longer want to risk having Arabs in our community and homes.

Across the street from my daughter’s home is an elementary school where a Palestinian Arab woman cleans the school and is there all hours of the day. After the slaughtering of scores of infants and children on October 7, no parent is going to want an Arab woman working among their children.

The same can be said in one of our shopping centers, and across Israel.

Maybe indeed many of these people are truly good people, that they want peace, or at least accept and respect us enough not to drink the terrorists’ vile Kool Aid that we are foreign occupiers and must be killed. These are not hollow threats. Maybe. But in the wake of October 7, Israeli authorities have detained and interrogated many who once worked in the communities in which they committed inhuman atrocities.

There are reports of former workers mapping out the communities which they raided, identifying homes of security personnel, who had dogs (that might threaten the terrorists), and more.

How do I know that Ahmed, Omar, Mustafa, Fares, Imad, Auni, Morad, or Mohammed are not spies for Hamas, or that Hamas won’t threaten them to commit a similar act of murder here, by threatening their own families?

The year we moved to Israel there was once such instance. A Palestinian Arab worker who was well known and had been hosted in many of my Jewish neighbors’ homes came into town on a Friday, the Moslem sabbath and usually a day off.

A curious neighbor followed him until it became clear he was about to detonate a bomb under his coat. Fortunately, my neighbor was armed, and quicker than the terrorist. But the carnage inside the grocery store could have been vast.

In Jerusalem it’s worse. There have been widespread celebrations of the massacre of October 7 by Jerusalem Arabs: in public, on social media, and even where they work, “peacefully” among Jewish Israelis.

To say that Israeli Jews feel insecure and unsafe around their Arab Moslem coworkers and neighbors is an understatement. It is the literal and proper definition of Islamophobia, and for good reason.

It’s a thin line between celebrating the inhuman massacre of civilians, and perpetrating those acts themselves.

As a result, many Jerusalem Arabs are going to find themselves out of work too. All thanks to their terror masters of Hamas, and in Iran.

Whether in Jerusalem, or Gaza, or Judea where I live, let’s be clear, there is no perceived wrong to anyone that justifies the horrors that we’ve witnessed and, from which, more than two weeks later, bodies are still not yet able to be identified.

The rape, beheading, burning alive, and execution of Jewish Israelis in their homes is not “resistance” or the work of “freedom fighters.”

It is the work of evil, an evil that goes to the core of extremist Islam housed in Iran, with tentacles around the world in places like Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and more.

But let’s return to sympathy for the “suffering” Palestinian Arabs. It cannot be overstated enough that all this suffering is self-inflicted.

It is self-inflicted because of the evil of Hamas using its own civilians as human shields, and robbing them of any opportunity for prosperity as billions in cash and tons of supplies have been used to build up its war machine rather than investing in the well-being of average Gazan Palestinian Arabs.

But let’s also be clear about one more thing.

A majority of Gazan Palestinian Arabs, 57 percent, actually support Hamas, according to a recent poll by a respected Arab pollster.

Many more support other even more extremist groups (if that were even possible).

So, before anyone turns to blame Israel for any of their suffering, let them look into the mirror, and let the rest of the world hold their lies under a microscope on full view for all to see.

Indeed, the economic consequences will be significant. But it’s far more than economic.

To the extent that there were opportunities for peaceful coexistence, these are also Hamas’ victims.

Palestinian Arabs who used to be able to make a good living in places where they were appreciated and respected, and be able to put food on their own tables, will no longer be able to do so—thanks to Hamas.

  1. Kowtowing to the filth certainly isn’t working out the way Labore and NSWaffen believed it would. Fortunately for we plebs,…
